Thanks for the tag @dragonologist-phd and @arendaes! 💕💕
“I don’t manipulate people. I just get them to reconsider what’s in their best interest.”
“The Queen gave me the reins, so I’m pulling them where I damn well please, and so far it’s been working. Tieflings want to join the Crusade? Fine, I have no problem with tieflings. I even rather like some of them. The troops want a barrel of ale and a victory party? I’ll be right there throwing up alongside them. An army of bards? That sounds good to me. Let the Abyss tremble before our mighty lutes. We took back Drezen. And that’s just the beginning.”
“What, stand back and sing rousing songs while the rest of you fight?”
“I mean collecting stories about degenerate aristocrats is our national sport.”
“Welcome to Drezen. Brand new city, ripe with opportunity.” Siavash surveyed the stinking heaps of rubble and demonic graffiti proudly. “Don’t mind the mess.”
“If I knight you, you can’t eat Crusaders. There aren’t many rules, but that’s one I’m sticking to. And you especially can’t eat Woljif.”
“I don’t think anyone in my whole life has ever accused me of being someone they can count on. But my heart’s in it, for what that’s worth.”
“And you know what bothers me too, is that mortals seem to be nothing but fuel to the machine. Just as Areelu snatched me from my crib for her experiments, we’re nothing but tools to a heartless universe, indifferent to our suffering.”
“Spend it. Wine, good food, nice clothes, new guitar strings. More oranges, if I’m lucky. Don’t need much more than that and the wind at my back.”
“You traded your copper coins for gold.”
“We’re committed. No need to kill the mood with priests and vows.”
“I won’t abandon my people. And my dragon.”
“Trust me. My crusade friends will be there and I may not look like much but I have, in fact, obliterated a couple demons in my day.”
“All right. Sounds like fun.”
“It’ll be fine.”
Tagging no pressure! @crows-of-buckets, @yunessa, @rollofleaf

I told myself I was going to make a cac post today but it may or may not be done. The real struggle of any Zrise cac post is not to push the player in any one direction. His three basic ending states all are different and early game I want it to be a little ambiguous if you’re making the right choice or not (he pushes unpleasantly against a kc who stops him from doing what he wants or questioning his morals)
But basically (not counting ascension because that’s special and different tm)
1. His default ending: vengeance. He gets his revenge but that’s it. (Maybe betrays the kc and dies about it) He ends up dying his death post last fight. Succumbs to the curse but can’t be a shambling puppet. This is like the path of least resistance. You really have to try with the other two.
2. I can make him worse ending. You indulge his worst most selfish, possessive, and hedonistic instincts. He goes through with the ritual not for vengeance but for immortality. His ambition comes to fruition. He loses his humanity and basically can ghost the kc post game. Can’t die. Full undead.
3. I can fix him ending. Your strong willed compassion pushes him towards being abandoned by his Goddess. To live for something other than the revenge he craves against his mother and family. He’s left with the scraps of himself as he starts the slow process of healing. Dies post last fight just like vengeance. Can be a shambling puppet as his mother is still alive.

btw congratulations to pathfinder wotr for finally making me kill a companion in a video game
my thoughts (includes spoilers) under the cut
i like the idea of a companion like this but i feel like the execution wasn’t quite there and her writing just… fell flat? the moment you meet her, you can pretty much figure out that she is a murderer. i think it could’ve been a bit more interesting if the whole thing hadn’t been so much on the nose and finding out the truth would have taken longer. maybe in the end you would have felt like you have been betrayed/fooled. but the way it all comes down in the middle of the game in act 3 doesn’t really surprise you. it also doesn’t leave you with much of a choice if you are roleplaying as a good character (unless you’re a bit naive and buy her excuse).
but yeah, i don’t like to get rid of characters just because they’re are evil or i don’t agree with them. usually i even enjoy characters like that. they can offer new perspectives to situations and bring out different sides of other companions, or they can just be really funny. with camellia i did few times chuckle at her creepy or snide comments but overall she just felt… almost boring? like what else is there to her?
i was worried that i would end up regret killing her, but now in act 4 i barely remember that she ever even existed and i don’t really miss having her around. but i will probably watch the rest of her questline from youtube at some point, to see if there’s more depth to her character and if i’m majorly missing out.

in my humble little opinion, daeran NEEDS a partner like minthara to meet his sassiness/rudeness exactly where it's at. she's the only one who would keep him on his toes. with the exception of lae'zel, daeran would steamroll over all the other love interests and it'd get toxic fast.
yeah i like that he and minthara can both see behind the companions facades with absolute clarity, even non malicious remarks from them are savage. lae’zel as well but some of her strength is a front, she can be genuinely hurt by some mild remarks from tav
though i forgot to mention regill in my other post, he would probably destroy everyone else

B) What inspired you to create them? (Tiarnan) ; C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story? (Draper) ; What memory do they revisit the most often? (Wrath!Caedrinn) :3
Triple threat!!! :O
What inspired you to create them? (Tiarnan)
Tiarnan is actually an AU of an NPC I really love RPing from my own D&D setting, The Folly of Helios! (That NPC is just called 'The Owl'!) I ended up playing Tiarnan after talking over a few character ideas with the GM for Hadreon and deciding he would fit the best.
As far as how I changed him for the setting I basically went "What if his wife wasn't dead lol" (and also changed wife to spouse bc we need more big strong nonbinary sword wielders), and from there it was lots of putting puzzle pieces together with things I liked about Hadreon! He's an enchantment wizard because it's a great specialist school mechanically and I wanted to engage with the ethical conundrum of enchantment magic + diplomacy. He ended up a rebel sidhe because I liked Leon a bunch and just wanted my character to be friends with him, and his aspect ended up getting picked based around the choice of specialty magic school & profession!
Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story? (Draper)
A lot actually! I really love Draper now, but I very much was frustrated with her at one point because the party didn't end up relying on her for the two things she was good at: healing & poisoning stuff. Plus, anything else she was okay at, there was already somebody who specialized in it.
BUT by the end of the campaign, she ended up basically brute forcing her way in lmao - she got a level in magus so she could actually hit things herself, not to mention that it was her adoptive family that played key roles in helping the party.
She's the sort of character who's a completely unwilling adventurer but is unfortunately good at it and gets roped into things because of that, which is fun to play!
What memory do they revisit the most often? (Wrath!Caedrinn)
OOOO I GET TO TALK ABOUT MY KNIGHT COMMANDER! It's fun to talk about his internal feelings since there aren't a lot of methods to explore that in-game!
The memory that Caedrinn revisits most is confronting his own reflection in the mirror and the Aeons. He feels really conflicted about having these powers thrust upon him - on one hand, they give him the ability to undo horrific curses and rituals with the snap of his fingers. On the other, they urge him to force people to repent for understandable crimes like stealing supplies because they weren't getting enough.
Tumblr media
Being calloused and lawful isn't in his nature, but the path set out before him demands it - both in terms of mythic power and in leading the fifth crusade. After some recent happenings involving companion quests (To not spoil things and to keep it brief, Regill's first quest, and a part of Sosiel's that involves interrogating a Hellknight), he's having a bit of an existential crisis. Is he the carefree drunken wanderer turned hero? Or is he becoming the heartless authority he despises?
Tumblr media
(Bonus art of Caedrinn's reflection I wasn't sure I was gonna post but since it's relevant here ya go!)
Thank you for the asks!!! these were very fun to think about!!
If you want to throw more OC asks at me here ya go!

i am going in pretty blind but i know camellia is evil (girl does not hide it lmao she was literally like ‘your demon didn’t invent hiding evil in your heart’ to some cultists lmao)
and I believe she’s like… a cannibal? That’s the vibe I’m getting?
or just likes to watch people get tortured. Anyway this goes so well with cyril being a vivisectionist. He’s like one of those doctors in the era when surgery was performed in a theater. He would put on a show for her

The Bravest of All
Pathfinder: Kingmaker
CW: post-game events
Characters: Linzi & the Baroness Queen
A.N: I was thinking about write this one after THAT unfortunated event in the House of the Edge of Time. I think that I will never get over it (as so Andrine *sobbing*)
Tumblr media
A bored reader walked into the public library. They already read (and re-read) all their favorite epic adventures. Rummaging through the corridors, they found a metal plate fixed on a bookcase: History of the River Kingdoms. They gave it a chance and proceeded to check the titles.
Then, between many decorated spines, one caught their eyes; a red book with golden letters.
“The Rise of the Kingdom of Solovey, Linzi the Bravest,” they read out loud, tilting their head. The reader took the copy, feeling the velvet cover. The pages were yellowish, but the ink was still neat.
On one of the first pages, there was a preface with the title To the Bravest of All. And the next words were from the Solovey’s first queen herself:
Everyone who was born in the old Stolen Lands knows better: sooner or later, you will lose. And I was one of them; since I was a child, I learnt that these lands are full of mysteries and sometimes you get a heartache at a very young age. But also I learnt that here doesn’t exhale only doom, but hope, bravery, faith, love, and many other virtues.
That night at Jamandi Aldori’s mansion changed my life forever. Not only because we suffered treason, and many people lost their lives around us, but because you were there with me, Linzi. I was minding my business, and then you appeared, offering to be my minstrel, and asking me to be your muse. At first I thought that was very amusing and I agreed with you because you were so energetic and full of good ideas and intentions. I would never forget your little eyes sparkling with eagerness. We were young and about to go on an adventure in the Stolen Lands!
You were by my side every moment. When we defeated the Stag Lord, when we laid the first stone of the barony, when you made me publicly swear to protect the kingdom at the Coronation, even when we went after your printer!
Not everything was fun and games, though. We lived in dark chapters, but like you used to say, all heroes have their moments of doubt. And we had. But also we held on to each other and waited until the storm was gone, humming merry songs or just crying on each other’s shoulder. Both were good.
Bandits, trolls, beasts, cultists, fey folks, ghosts. We went through so many things, always overcoming them. We began to feel above any evil. And then they took you away from me. It was like being stabbed and felt someone twisting the knife.
There is not a single day that I don’t mourn your death. I wished that the things were different, that we could do anything to counter the fate, but it was useless.
Everyone who was born in the old Stolen Lands knows better: sooner or later, you will lose.
You were the bravest of all the kingdom, my friend. The one who stood for their beliefs until the end. When the readers flip our pages, they will know that you were worth it. You are worth it, since your work will live until the day the sun devours Golarion.
Who is remembered will be never forgotten. That’s why I nominated you Linzi, the Bravest Bard, the Enchanter of Crowds, the Fleet-Feet, and Queen Andrine’s Sparrow. They would never forget any of us – and that’s my decree.

Sort of PWOTR secret ending spoilers under the cut
Chief, you got a minute?
Woljif. Of course I do.
The gate that opened like a spring flower made of pure sunshine let out a gust of perfumed air and scintillating rosy light, and before Woljif stood the Lark.
Warm, many-hued, golden-headed and smiling, azure chiton shining like a summer sky, kaleidoscope eyes filled with a transcendent love that washed over Woljif like an Inner Sea tide, massive and uplifting.
Not Siavash.
The Lark extended his hands to take Woljif’s but Woljif didn't reach back. “I got a couple leads on that contact from Manaket. We oughtta—chief.”
The Lark smiled beatifically, heartbreakingly beautiful with his arms outstretched and the constellations of his wings shining overhead.
“Are you listenin’?”
The Lark’s laugh was the happiest music. “Of course I’m listening.”
Woljif frowned at one of his outstretched arms. “What the—that’s not even your skin.”
“Don’t you like it?”
He didn’t like it. The scent of jasmine from the gate to Elysium grew cloying.
“Chief. Come down off your cloud.” There was an unusual edge to Woljif’s voice: a shadow.
This snapped Siavash out of his vast musings and into the sharpness of the present moment. He folded his wings and seemed to deflate, his skin dulling to its natural tan, his eyes losing their jeweled fire.
“Better?”
“Yeah.” Woljif rolled his eyes. “Listen, we need to talk about that offer a’ help. Smells more like sulfur than we thought. That contact you met in Manaket?” He fished an object seemingly out of thin air and handed it to Siavash: a ring of dark iron shot through with veins of flame. “Agent of Dis.”
“Where did you get this?”
“Whaddaya think?”

Wrath of the Righteous ending spoilers below the cut
This was originally going to be a joke about a True Aeon -> True Devil KC's relationship with Regill being my favorite romance path but...uh...it's really only half a joke? I've always wanted to write a short thing about Regill and a true devil KC having a mostly unspoken thing, where they work together so well its not just a professional compatibility but rather that sort of "I found the other half of my soul" feeling, but it never manifests as anything obviously sexual or romantic, even if it is just as profound a connection as those sorts of bonds.
And then the KC does their duty and dies to seal the worldwound. Regill sets his affairs in order, writes his treatise on fighting demons, and succumbs to the bleaching. It's a relief when he does - it was unlikely, but Regill is enough of an oddball as far as gnomes go that he worried that he might be one of the few who survive the bleaching, and that would not do. His duty is in hell. His commander is in hell.
Main reason I haven't written it is that I don't really know who that KC character would be other than their mythic path. So it's going to keep marinating in the back of my mind for now.
