CREATIVITY 20.05.23
Today, me and my friend decided to do croissants because we have never done them before. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to make our own dough, s we bought a ready one instead. However, we wanted to make interesting fillings and we used: nocciola spread, strawberries, coconut, almonds, apricot, cocoa powder with butter, jam and ptasie mleczko. Additionally, I wanted too see what would happen if i put several pieces of ptasie mleczko in the oven. It ended up being flat and burned, looking a bit like chocolate chip cookies (we didn’t manage to eat them). But the croissants turned out to be really tasty.

hi! i hope i'm not bothering you (and that my asks weren't too much and i didn't cross a line i'm sorry if i did! u don'thave to answer them), but! i'm supposed to give a short presentation about poland and part of it is talking about three different polish desserts, and i was wondering if you know any traditionally polish desserts or desserts that polish people eat a lot? (we have to bring some to class and i think i'm gonna buy those krówki sweets.) maybe you can help me? -wea.
oooo i’ll send you some fun stuff, we eat a lot of sweets but they’re kinda strange lmao
krówki is a fun idea!! they’re not as much of a dessert but just sweets, yeah! you can mention that the name “krówki” literally means “little cows” in polish hehe
this funky cake is a traditional one, eaten mainly in the north/east poland. the name “sękacz” is connected to wood grains - that’s because when you cut the cake, its layers look like layers of wood :’)
polish ppl love poppy seeds in sweets? this beautiful baby is a cake with poppy seeds (called makowiec, derives from the word “mak” which means poppy seeds in polish). this is popular all over poland and very traditional, my grandmother and my mom made it very often! the existence of this cake is also how every polish kid knows that poppy seeds are a drug (?) and that it is technically possible to get high on them, but if you wanted to do that, you’d have to eat so many of them that you’d die quicker than feel something significant at all. or at least that’s what the kids at my elementary school said lmao
polish doughnuts (pączki) are AMAZING. in fact, they’re so amazing that we even have a special day once a year when we go and eat as many doughnuts as we can (it’s called “tłusty czwartek” which means “fat thursday”), usually around the middle of february. we also eat a lot of this stuff during fat thursday! (deep-fried dough in powdered sugar basically)
babka is also pretty traditional, usually eaten in the Easter time. we also eat mazurek for Easter (a kind of extremely sweet, heavily sugar-decorated shortbread-kind of thing), but while babka is also often eaten just whenever, mazurek is eaten during Easter ONLY
from other seasonal sweets, pierniki (gingerbread cookies) are very popular around Christmas time
honourable mentions include kisiel and kompot, which are kind of desserts but also aren’t? i linked english wikipedia articles so you can decide if those float your boat. they are extremely traditional!!
then we ofc have stuff like cheesecake or apple pie or puddings but those aren’t that special. polish desserts are most often yeast and flour-based cakes or sweets. as for other miscellaneous sweets, this article is a very good guide (ptasie mleczko, krówki, sezamki and prince polo are things i would sell my soul for EASILY).
