For day five of @steddie-week for the prompt ‘established relationship’ / 715 words of Eddie goofing off at bedtime / rated G or T
After I wrote this, I thought it could be fun as part of a 5+1 established relationship kind of thing where either one or both of them are annoying/bratty/goofy but ran out of time, so here’s this one for now! Maybe one day I’ll do some more and compile them
“Okay, time for bed.” Steve stands, stretching his arms above his head, spine popping.
Eddie mourns his warmth, resenting the cold space beside him on the couch. But, still he says, “Ugh, no.”
“You can stay up if you want.”
“Noooo.” Eddie slumps over, face-first into the couch cushions. They’re still warm from Steve, but it’s a poor substitute. “I’m too tired to go to bed.”
There’s a great sigh from above Eddie and Steve says, “Yeah, that makes sense.”
“I don’t want to move.”
“Fine, see you in the morning then.”
“You’re not going to just leave me! I thought you were a gentleman.” Eddie turns his head to look up at Steve. He’s got his hands on his hips, his shirt is riding up revealing a very appealing strip of stomach, and his hair is all mussed. “Carry me,” Eddie adds.
“Carry yourself.”
Eddie makes an unhappy noise and rolls off the couch, flopping onto the floor and holding out one hand.
“Oh my god,” Steve says, “you’re going to hurt yourself if you keep doing that.” He grabs Eddie’s hand, tugging, but Eddie doesn’t stand. “Do you want me to carry you or drag you?”
“Mm.”
“Jesus Christ.” Steve huffs and tugs again, dragging Eddie a few inches. “You’re gonna get rug burn.” He stoops down, hooking his arms under Eddie’s—“That tickles” “Shut up”—and then he groans and says, “Nope, I’m too old for this,” dropping his grip on Eddie and turning away.
But Eddie says, “Okay, okay, I’ll get up,” and Steve turns back. He raises a brow at Eddie’s outstretched hand, but he takes it, shaking his head with a small smile when Eddie lets himself be pulled to his feet.
Eddie immediately leans forward, draping himself over Steve, almost dead weight.
“Dude,” Steve says, even as he wraps his arms around Eddie’s waist, breathing in deeply. “I had an easier time getting the neighbors’ kids to bed when we looked after them that time.”
“You promised to tuck them in and tell them a bedtime story.”
“Is that what I need to do with you?”
“Well,” Eddie says, “it wouldn’t hurt,” gently biting Steve’s jaw.
“Okay, if you’re a good boy and stop messing around, I’ll tuck you in and tell you a bedtime story.” Steve bumps their noses together. “Deal?”
“Throw in a piggyback?”
“Fine.” Steve turns in Eddie’s arms, grunting as he hoists Eddie up onto his back. “We’d get to bed a lot quicker if you walked.”
“This is more fun.”
“Speak for yourself,” Steve says, but there’s fond amusement beneath his griping. When they get to the bedroom, Steve turns and deposits Eddie on the bed, groaning when Eddie pulls him down with him. He rolls off of Eddie and lies beside him. “Okay,” he says, “I’m going to brush my teeth.”
“Not yet.” Eddie hooks his leg over Steve’s, stopping him from getting up.
“Come on.”
“Kiss me first,” Eddie says, moving over Steve and pressing kisses all over his face.
Steve squirms, but he’s smiling, and he kisses Eddie back, which only encourages Eddie, until Steve pushes a hand in Eddie’s face and says, “Oh, you definitely need to brush your teeth.”
“Hey, my breath is like a spring breeze!”
“Yeah, downwind from a dump.” Steve grins, tongue between his teeth.
Eddie frowns, pulling back to check his breath. “Smells fine to me.” He pokes Steve in the side. “And your breath doesn’t exactly smell like a rose garden right now.”
“Whatever. I’m just saying, oral hygiene is important, okay?”
“That might be the dorkiest thing you’ve ever said. Like, it’s so dorky I can’t even make any of the obvious jokes.”
“I literally don’t care.” Steve wriggles out from under Eddie. “And brush your teeth, or don’t, but when they fall out, don’t come crying to me.” He starts to move away but Eddie grabs him again. “What now?”
“I promise I’ll brush my teeth if you cuddle with me first.”
“We can cuddle after.”
“C’mon,” Eddie says, “just five minutes.”
Steve’s lips twitch. “Just five minutes,” he says, lying down again, “but you’ve forfeited the bedtime story.”
“You know what,” Eddie says, pulling Steve close, and wrapping his arm around his waist, “I think I can live without it.”

what is this?
steddiemicrofic is a new monthly drabble challenge started in July. Each month will have a one-word prompt and a randomly-generated word count challenge between 300-600 words.
For example, a prompt might look like: ‘breakfast,’ 522 words.
how do I play?
We’ll announce the new prompt on the first of the month, and then you’ll have until the end of the month to fill the prompt. Your story should be a third person standalone fic with Steve and Eddie as the primary characters (or topic of discussion if doing outsider POV.) If you want us to share your story, you can tag us @steddiemicrofic and use that month’s hashtag.
Please note: word counts are strict. That’s the whole fun of the challenge, so please don’t tag us if your drabble turns into a 2k story.
We’ll use wordcounter.net to check the final word count before reblogging. (Note: your word processor might tally words differently, so be sure to run your draft through wordcounter.net specifically before posting.) WC limits only apply to the body of the story, so titles, descriptions, etc. won’t count against you.

If you love the winter holidays as much as I do, then this challenge is for you! It’s pretty simple:
The calendar below has a prompt for every day of the month of December. No matter what holiday you celebrate or even if you don’t celebrate one at all, I hope you find one or more that you like! You can submit as many as you'd like (I plan to do one everyday) or as few as you'd like.
All drabbles should be between 300-1000 words. I will be using wordcounter.net to check them all before reblogging!

Job Well Done (Romi's Redacted Request-Ember Finale)
Romi's Redacted Request-Ember comes to a close! Throughout December, I filled requested prompts in oneshots, which you can find in both of my Snapshots for Dahlia (G-T) and Snapshots for Dahlia (M-E) collections. Thank you all who requested, read, and/or commented on the fics! It's always a joy and a privilege to be entrusted with someone's prompt. Happy 2024 to all!

Some thoughts and tips for FTH
This is a big event, one that can be confusing and even stressful, so here are some tips for contributors before the whole thing begins.
Most importantly, this is meant to be a fun way to raise donations for important causes. If thinking about it stresses you out too much, don't do it. There are many ways to donate and participate in charity events, and it is perfectly valid to choose what is best for you.
After you decide you want to participate – look at the 2022 auction page (here) to get a general idea of how it looks. Be not afraid – once you understand the logic, it is easy to navigate. And now that you have some idea how the FTH offers look like, read the FAQ (here). It is a bit long, and can be a bit overwhelming, but well worth the reading.
And now, to the interesting part – my suggestions for a successful bid.
Firstly, decide how many creations you want to offer. Each person can offer up to three creations (fic, art, beta, podfic, ect,), and in a variety of lengths and ratings. Can you really commit to writing 3 fics, each one more than 10K? If so, excellent. If not, it might be better to offer shorter fics, or a long fic but only one.
Don't forget that creators who are offered the option to make something for their second bidders BEFORE second bidders are offered the chance to donate in return for a fanwork. So, it is possible that instead of 3 entries, you will end up with 6.
Equally important is to be clear about your yay and nay. Is there a rare pair that you can’t wait to create art for them? Maybe a character that you don’t want to engage with? What are your favourite genres? Do you prefer canon compliant or AU? Are there scenes you love more than others?
Elaborate what you are especially interested in writing about, but also what you are unwilling to address. There is no need to explain your reasons, but the more specific you are, the more chance people will get excited about your ideas, and won't ask you for things you are not willing to engage with. You can also check for past years to see what others wrote, to some inspiration.
That is true also for notes and special interests – have you worked in a circus? Maybe you have experience with making flint knives? Sometimes people need very niche knowledge, so don't hesitate to add things.
Highest rating means just that - how explicit you are willing to create, based on the AO3 rating system. If you prefer to stay in the SFW zone, choose G or T. If you want to write NSFW, your choice is between M or E. That means that if a contributor chose G they will create only something with that rating, but a contributor who chose E can write at all the ratings, depending upon the prompt from the bidder.
Example works - there will be people who are not familiar with your work, so choose the ones that reflect you and your style the best. Make sure they are those you love the most, even if they are not the one with the most kudos or comments.
Ways of communication - sometimes people will have specific prompts in their mind, and want to make sure the contributor is fine with it before they bid. You can choose how to communicate (email, twitter, tumblr, ect.), but whatever way you choose, remember to leave your messages open and check your spam.
About the bidding price - the default minimum bid price is $5. The money is donated straight to a charity, and the contributors are donating their time and labour. Each year, the FTH mods decide upon a certain number of charities that the winners donate to, and each contributor can decide if they want the donations for their creations to be passed to any of the organisations on the list or specific ones.
Some organisations are marked with an asterisk (*), which means they allow for international donations directly through their websites, while other organisations don't allow it. The bidders are from all over the world, so it is advised to choose at least one organisation that allows international donations as well.
The sign-up period is two weeks, so no need to rush. Don’t forget to look at your offers after the browsing week starts, and contact mods if there is any mistake.
Don’t be disheartened if your offers don’t get bidders straight away. While some people bid as soon as it is possible, others wait for the last minute to make their offer. In any case, the mods highlight offers without bidders, and eventually most, if not all, offers are being claimed.
Once the bidding is over, it takes some time for the mods to notify the winners, for them to donate and present a proof, and after that to receive your contacts from the mods and reach out, so please wait a few days. If after a week no one has approached you, ask the mods and they will solve the problem.
Once your bidders contact you, the real fun starts. This is the time to decide on a prompt both of you will be happy with, and how much collaboration you want. Some contributors prefer to deliver the final creation, while others want to update every step of the way. Some winners will ask to see the work before it is published, while others wish to be surprised, so make sure to reach an agreement beforehand.

Competing for His Affections
This is a fill for today's @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt [#FFF233 Imperfect Sign], as well as my @tonystarkbingo KINK: Cock-blocking 'bots and @buckybarnesbingo Humor squares, along with a belated @fictober-event prompt for Day 27: "I don't know if they will accept this."

When Bucky leaned in to brush a kiss across Tony’s cheek, he was a little hurt to have his - admittedly still somewhat new - boyfriend pull away, even as he gestured toward Dum-E and U, who were parked in their charging stations.
“I don’t know if they will accept this, sunshine,” he murmured, waving a hand between the two of them.
Bucky frowned in confusion. “I thought the ‘bots liked me.”
“As a playmate, sure. As competition for my affection?” Tony frowned and grimaced, “Maybe not so much. After all, they never did take very well to Pepper.”
Bucky suspected the opposite was true as well; that Pepper had some level of jealousy towards Tony’s creations. But that was neither here nor there. “Okay - so you’re saying no making out in the workshop?”
Tony sighed. “At least, not for a little while.”
Bucky nodded in reluctant acceptance. “Fair enough.”
However, Bucky discovered it was easier said than done to keep his hands off Tony when they were in the presence of the ‘bots. Sure, they made up for lost time elsewhere, but it still was a hassle.
To be fair, Tony made it clear he was struggling with the G-rated workshop time as well. “I’m surprised I haven’t bitten my tongue clear through with the times I’ve almost let loose with a pet name when the ‘bots are around,” he complained as they were making lunch together in the kitchen.
“I’d hate to have anything happen to that talented tongue of yours, sweet thing,” Bucky purred, pulling Tony into his arms for a lingering kiss.
They froze at the sound of a familiar, somehow disapproving chirp. “Dum-E, buddy, what are you doing up here?” Tony asked, carefully extricating himself from Bucky’s embrace and putting a foot or two of space between them.
The ‘bot aimed his camera first at Tony, then at Bucky before trundling right over inbetween them. “What have I told you about personal space, buddy?” Tony muttered as they both took a couple of quick steps to avoid having their toes caught under an errant tread.
Making a stubborn beeping sound, Dum-E grabbed hold of Tony’s wrist to pull him towards the workshop. “ Hey, whoa, this is not acceptable! Dum-E, stop it right now!”
The ‘bot did as he was told, but didn’t let go of Tony’s wrist. “A little help, Buckeroo?” he asked, half-joking, but half-serious as well. Not that Bucky thought the ‘bot would hurt Tony intentionally, but Dum-E didn’t always know his own strength.
Bucky tapped on Dum-E’s housing with his metal hand to get the bot’s attention before squatting down to meet him eye to camera eye. “Listen up, pal. Tony here has the biggest heart of anyone I know. I promise that just because he’s taken a shine to me doesn’t mean he loves you any less. That goes for U and JARVIS as well - you’re his family.” He looked up to catch Tony’s eyes. “And if I’m lucky, maybe I can be a part of that family someday, too.”
Dum-E hummed thoughtfully for a moment before letting go of Tony’s wrist. “That’s better,” Bucky praised the ‘bot, patting its housing. He stood up and gently took Tony’s wrist, pressing a soft kiss to it.
Dum-E whirred and pointedly turned his camera away. “Okay, okay,” Tony chuckled, “we’ll keep the PDA to a minimum while you’re up and around. That said,” he added, looping an arm around Bucky’s waist, “once you’re in your charging stations for the evening, anything goes.”

14. Hi! I have found some really good fics from this blog. I would like to thank you for the work you do. I would like some help in exploring a certain curiosity that I have.
Both Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are portrayed to be grey characters. But while Wei Wuxian is vilified, Lan Wangji has still somehow managed to retain his reputation. I always found it interesting that Wei Wuxian was the one who took action for morality while Lan Wangji did everything he did for Wei Wuxian. Yet they are perceived by people as the villain and the man who was led astray.
There are many stories where Wei Wuxian grew up as a rogue cultivator but not many where we can explore Lan Wangji as anything but Gusu Lan. Can you help me find a book where Lan Wangji's character is explored without the impact of Gusu Lan's 3000 rules. His base character without the tempering of the Gusu Lan more stringent morality.
I am really interested in exploring Lan Wangji's character in depth. Thank you.

can you clarify if you want canon divergent works only ? or are modern aus okay? I don't think I follow that lan zhan did things for Wei ying. I think LZ was brought up a certain way which of course influenced his actions, he then had his world view challenged (with Wei ying as the catalyst) and it expanded and he changed as a person. Maybe we are thinking about different parts of the story tho.

2024 Pop-Up Events
The Holiday Drabble Challenge was fun and as long as I'm still around in December 2024, I plan to do it again with all new prompts!
Until then, I plan on having some pop-up events throughout 2024 for anyone who may want to participate. Here's what's scheduled so far:
February 14th - Valentine's Day (Specific challenges announced in February)
March 19th - Spring (think spring cleaning, spring into action, the season itself, etc.)
May 25th-26th - Graduation (high school, college, kindergarten, anything)
June 15th - Summer (vacations, heat waves, swimming, anything you may do in the summer)
September 25th - Anniversary (getting together, wedding, dating, etc.)
There may be specific challenges during some of these as well that will be announced closer to the date.
These will follow the same rules:
All drabbles should be between 300-1000 words. I will be using wordcounter.net to check them all before reblogging!
Please tag this blog @steddieholidaydrabbles when you post. You can also follow the tag steddieholidaydrabbles to keep up with posts.
