egg is not objectively or even subjectively sexy but that's what i think makes him so great for this competition. he is an 18 year old boy with severe abandonment issues and no powers in a world that largely relies on them. consequently, in order to stay both wanted and useful, he has taken to eating the corpses of people that this girl named eve kills, in order for them to not be traced back to her. keep in mind, eve did Not ask this of him: she just told him to give her a reason to keep him around, and this is the best thing egg came up with. because egg might seem silly, a little happy go lucky, a little dumb, but he still understands one thing: that no one can leave you if they've grown dependent on, or if they're afraid of, what you've become. which i personally just think is hot. Also here’s a bit of writing for him

I just finished rewatching Star Trek Enterprise S3, aka the Xindi arc, and realized something I'd missed before. Don't know if it's been discussed elsewhere, but anyway....
The S3 story of a horrific attack on Earth by distant aliens who see humans as their worst enemy, and the Enterprise going after them to prevent Earth's annihilation, was explicitly inspired by 9/11. The showrunners said as much. Like most Enterprise fans, I've always appreciated the gradual development of the arc from a story about angry, grieving humans thirsty for revenge to one of diplomacy, mutual understanding, and cooperation.
But...cooperation against whom? Turns out there's a shadowy cabal behind the whole ugly mess. Literally shadowy. They're beings from a transdimensional realm who are transforming the fabric of space to be hospitable to their kind and uninhabitable by anyone else. They know that in the future, Earth will play a key part in defeating them, so they operate secretly and deceitfully to change the time line, manipulate the Xindi into destroying Earth, and prevent that future from coming to pass.
So...conspirators, puppet masters pulling the strings, a hidden enemy who's been there all along, controlling everything, with only their own interests at heart, causing suffering, death and destruction for their own benefit. In a story about 9/11. That's...troubling.
Almost immediately after 9/11, conspiracy theories began to circulate about who was "behind" the attack. A common one:
"The New World Order (NWO) is a conspiracy theory in which adherents believe that a cabal of powerful elites is secretly implementing a dystopian international governing structure that will grant them complete control over the global populace....Many modern-day conspiracy theories – including the NWO theory – have anti-Semitic origins....Within these narratives, Jewish people are frequently framed as the orchestrators of global events and accused of creating a supranational governing structure for nefarious purposes. These dangerous narratives are still widely promoted today....The NWO’s application within American discourse can be seen through the reaction to major events, such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks. As millions mourned, questions naturally arose as to culpable parties and their potential motives....Conspiracy theorists took advantage of the emotional turmoil to further sow their conspiratorial beliefs. NWO adherents were no exception and stood as major players in this conspiratorial competition."

No, I am not saying Star Trek writers were intentionally promoting antisemitism on Enterprise, any more than they were when they created the greedy Ferengi or the Illyrians-as-conversos. Star Trek is chock-a-block with cringy, unintentionally racist alien stereotypes, doubtless due mostly to lazy, thoughtless writing. What I am saying is that a lot of stuff floating around in the zeitgeist -- stereotypes, myths, conspiracy theories, etc -- makes its way into popular culture and implants an attitude that predisposes people to at least find it plausible that this is how things work, this is a thing that happens, this has some basis in reality. As story-telling creatures, humans are really good at finding the hidden messages and lessons. These story elements prime the pump. When people then encounter conspiracy theories steeped in bias, at least some will be disposed to think, "Yeah, sounds reasonable, an international conspiracy of Jews (or whoever) explains a lot," or at least, they'll buy into the vague notion that Jews (and Others) are disloyal, untrustworthy, etc.
So, hey, Star Trek writers, and all writers: Do better. Please.
NB: I still think Enterprise is kick-ass Star Trek. What would my life be without problematic faves?

For far too long we have let ourselves be divided over our favourite characters and ships.
If we are going to make it through these trying times of massive leaks and non-sensical airing schedules, we need something to unite us. Something we can all get behind. Something we can all collectively hate.

Confession: I think this might be last post ever on tumblr, I think I might leave tumblr and social media in general. I feel like its become way too toxic and just not worth the effort nor do I feel happy using it, its just so menatally draining. In addition Im getting a little fed up of fandoms and stan culture, it used to be fairly a fun space but now it feels like a space where hatred, racism, toxicity have kinda infiltrated. Things like movies or just enjoying actors or whatever have become less and less interesting it no longer feels like celebrating but like we are in competition, like the discourse has become lets compare and be hurtful to others and their opinions and I just think fandoms have just been too invasive, too parasocial and I dont want to be in that space anymore.
I do want to say I enjoyed your blog and love how you try to bring as much joy and positivity to this space. You are one of few bright spots and keep doing what you do and thank you for cheering me up at the times I felt a little down . Its been fun but I think its time for me to bid a permanent farewell. First of all, thank you so much for your confession. I really appreciate your honesty on this topic, because I really do feel like fandom/stan culture has really gotten to a point that it's become exhausting in many fandoms... even when the celebrities themselves aren't even problematic! 🤷🏾♀️
It's become toxic for sure. 😞 And I, too, don't really appreciate the constant comparisons, the putting down of other actors just to raise up your faves, the spreading of lies and falsehoods in order to make other celebrities look bad, the recurring nonstop complaints about an actor's film career even though their career is going just fine, the immediate "cancel" culture just because someone isn't perfect 100% of the time, the jealousy and downplaying of another actor's talents just because it's not your fave in the role, the annoying film twitter debates, the use of RT as the almighty "gold standard" in a filming project's validity, the over-FOCUS of film critics and their reviews of certain films instead of just watching the film yourself and forming your OWN opinions, the constant bickering among various fandoms and stan wars, the overly-anxious fans who get nervous if their fave isn't in a new casting announcement every 2 months, etc.... The list goes on and on and on....
It's just exhausting.... 😫 And I feel like I see a lot of these comments bts because ppl can literally hide behind Anon on my blog and say whatever they want. 😩
So yea girl...I totally feel you. ❤️
I'm hoping you won't stay away forever, but I totally encourage and support you in taking a break away from here (or social media in general) if that's what you need to stay healthy and emotionally and mentally upbuilt. 🥰

PortEngSpa Piracy age, Enemies to Lovers to Strangers, Angst, Port takes a direct hit by cannon ball and loses their memory, England and Spain slowly fall in-love trying to care for Portugal. I have no idea where I was going with this. But apparently angst is a competition now.

I do love triangles, by the way, and how problematic they are. My fave trio so far.
It deserves a fanfic itself. But I may add that Portugal has been into a kind of long amnesia for a year and a half. Then he started remembering things and tried to take his place again. The problem is that Spain and England did matelotage already... and all this is pretty awkward.
Now Gabriel is the outsider, and suddenly hates both when he knows the truth. Horrible fightings and discussions and drama; Arthur cannot explain to him that his heart has place for two. He doesn't want to leave Antonio, but his love for him is there. So he's very confused and tormented. Meanwhile, Antonio wants his brother to love him again, but he is in love with his ex brother-in-law. Deeply.
"Maybe we can try the three of us. I have seen it, shouldn't be difficult. This is the best way to protect us all."
Portugal agrees, but no with sexual contact. Arthur and Antonio have their own relationship and he was left behind, this is clear for him. So he stays like a roomie. Another room, another schedule; they invite him to stay with him, to have lunch at least, but he considers himself alone; only when somebody asks he says "I'm in a contratctual matelotage with Fernandes Carriedo and Kirkland", but nothing else.
Then a strange thing starts happening: Arthur is so depressed that Antonio helps him to conquer Gabriel again. He wants them happy; if not, one day Port would take his stuff and leave them for good. None wants that.
So this strange campaing makes shattering things once more, and... open ending for you to complete, anon!

5 works :3 ship opinion bingo: sharkface/felix, sharkface/locus, sharkface/price, sharkface/carolina, and sharkface/kimball
So many shark ships, is this my birthday??? lol
Let's start with my main otp of all time ever, Sharkface/Locus :3333 with the rest under a cut for sake of scrolling ofc
Despite appearances, Sharkface is actually the most well adjusted "just some guy" of the mercs since Siris is gone. And that I think can tug Locus back towards the realm of balance, make him realize hey this fucked up thing I have with Felix? doesn't need to be like this. Like sure they're both still fucked up freaks, but I think since Sharkface is actually capable of being normal about people stuff Locus' badly calibrated interpersonal compass could be bright back into better alignment. It might not be normal but Sharkface would be decently chill about Locus needing to start being a good guy in earnest and having a Person at the vet least is good for Sharkface. He's a social animal and needs to have People around to love and nurture or he suffers.
Which brings us to my next favorite, the ever-toxic "what the fuck is with these guys" ship: Shark/Felix >:) the only way I can see these guys is as aromantic and casually sexual but still somehow weirdly codependent. They 100% bring out the worst in each other, and really I can mostly only see this "working" in an extremely specific or modern AU.
The oddly specific one is a personal au of mine where Sharkface survives Armonia bc one of his assigned squad scrapes him off the pavement and gets him to medical. So that when Felix is falling off the tower like a meteor headed to hell Sharkface is like huh that looks like it's gonna suck and yoinks him sideways instead with his grapplehook. (Do not tell me he isn't any good with it you know that boy spent way too much time with his old squad doing dumb shit and stupid tricks) They both escape death by sheer dumb luck, Locus disappears like a ghost and the UAC runs the remnants off of Chorus into an escape Condor. It's uh. It's like that one post. Fuck. I can't find the screenshot but it's like enemies to begrudgingly working together and maybe me saving your life and you saving mine i feel some sort of minor obligation and i guess you're not that bad after all and we don't work so bad together and at some point it's just easier to stick together kind of thing. And with Sharkface he needs a person or people as stated above and Felix clings because it's weird to not have someone at his side and well they're getting work done and making money and the sex is good so why break a decent grind while it's still working out... ANYWAY. That, and enraged hatefucking while the wars still on. Those are the options but god are they chewy.
There's no real rhyme or reason to the order, truthfully these rotate in my top spot depending on the day lol but Sharklina is so. SO. ough. listen ok so they're enemies at first and Lina completely rocks his shit and thanks to the Skittles assholes he loses everything and they forget about the people they've crushed under a fucking skyscraper. He's hell bent on revenge, she's hell bent on redemption. which is extremely funny in light of his tattoo. they're both competitive and dedicated and passionate and neither one of them likes backing down, and honestly in like a modern au with them meeting at like idk an MMA match or something i think they'd kick each other's asses and then make out. In canon though they've got SO MUCH deliciously chewy baggage to work through and if they hadn't just fucking shot him bc they were running out of time and he declared his undying vengeance i think they might have begrudgingly found they had quite a lot in common over time and through a LOT of hand to hand combat. Ugh. They make me insane. Stubborn little fuckers.
a 'problematic' but evergreen fave. two unsc prisoners freed and pressganged by criminals, one acting in his former capacity as a psychological professional but likely without any licensure any longer, and only with the intention to hone sharkface into a keen blade of revenge to clip some loose ends from his life to make a cleaner getaway, or at least that's what I assume. he proves to be scheming to save his own hide towards the end. BUT WHAT IF he finds an odd attachment to this broken soldier, nearly suicidal in his desires for revenge, to quiet the ghosts in his mind? either as an intellectual curiosity or personal curiosity. i like the option of sharkface trying to dig into him in return with what little he knows of the guy besides the fact that he's playing his cards very close to his vest. that contrarianism can either work against price or right into his hands, but it's about grabbing the right leads and if he misjudges, the shark will thrash free and go right for the neck...
i guess i don't have a whole lot coherent to say but i do love to chew on this weird lopsided power dynamic and toss in a bit of shipping just to see where it goes. sometimes you get a fluff blend where they're both hurting in the core of them and deciding that actually this war is stupid/doomed/worthless and fucking off together to not heal persay but find some mutual comfort is nice. it's versatile because they're both tertiary and quaternary villains in 13 so there's entirely too much grey space to fill in, even though we've known the counselor since season 6 (technically)
now THIS one i had to chew on for a while because the only canon interaction they have is Kimball witnessing his "as long as I'm alive you're all as good as dead!" speech and shooting him in the chest. 🥴
but. in a world where he's captured instead maybe. Kimball won't let him at the freelancers and he's pissed. the freelancers killed the only people that ever gave a fuck about him, so the only thing left to keep him warm is revenge. Kimball knows a thing or two about having someone kill your entire family callously without losing a wink of sleep over it. She's a lot of tough love because she has to be as a leader, as a source of courage and a beacon of hope for her troops to look towards. But that might actually work on him. She might be able to convince him that you have to keep moving forward regardless, and tearing through innocents on your way to extract a personal revenge doesn't make you any better than the people who wronged you in the first place.
He'd resist at first, refuse to listen, tell her to fuck off, because what does he have left to hold if not for that last ember of vengeance? But he was put off balance when Carolina first apologized to him. Kimball's talked to him a few times. He's got a conscience in there even if he doesn't want it and the worst part is she's right. She's right and he hates it and the more he thinks about all the kids he killed on this side for the mercs the sicker he feels, and finally decides he'll fight for them, give up intel on the mercs and take the fight right back to the guys who brought him here in the first place.
I think to be anything romantic it'd take a very very long road of shark redemption first and probably a lot of awkward "we can't possibly, she's the president of the whole planet and I'm some asshole Merc that turned sides to fight for them/i can't possibly impose, i can't ask someone out bc they'll feel obligated bc I'm the president argh power dynamic" and he's probably aiding rebuilding efforts after and maybe Kimball feels compelled to check in with him occasionally and there's a fondness there that grows slowly and maybe he finally cracks a joke and it takes her by surprise and he's never heard her laugh like that before and uh oh that did it, the dam has broken and he'll take her out on lunch dates to make sure she does take a break sometimes, and after spending so long having to worry about looking after everyone else is nice to have someone who looks after her too, and aaaa ok good job thanks you made me ship it /o\ ...jerk (affectionate)
also i was gonna like proofread this but I've been working on this for a couple hours on and off now and I'm tired so while this was VERY FUN THANK YOU i am too tired for proofreading so hopefully it's legible

Sure! I wrote a fic with A in it once, so that'll kinda be my basis for this reply
1: sexuality headcanon: In my fic he was in a bit of a crushing on/fooling around together situation with B, but he was still young and innocent and also a lonely kid who was just barely starting to explore this side of himself. He was really stoked to finally have somebody around his age who really liked him and enjoyed his company, as he'd led a very isolated life for quite some time before that. And in my mind L was basically the only other person close to his age that he saw regularly before B arrived, and L was a bit of a snobby bully to him as well. So I wasn't really sure about A's sexuality yet, and I think he was a bit unsure about how to label his own orientation still as well. But I think he genuinely did like B
2: otp: AxB of course, hahaha it's an angsty pairing for the ages that basically writes itself
3: brotp: Would also like him with B as bros. But in my fic A really got along with Roger as well, and was a bit of a teacher's pet to him (he was a big-time people-pleaser, because that was kinda just how he had to behave to survive)
4: notp: Not really interested in shipping him with L, especially not in my own particular version of things
5: first headcanon that pops into my head: Religious inclinations, and if he'd been alive long enough to see the rise of Kira he might've thought he was divine and actually become a worshipper of him
6: favorite line from this character: haha, that one line in the novel that is all we have to go on about him
7: one way in which I relate to this character: my concept for writing A the way I did basically started out as: "What if a kind and non-competitive and fairly naive kid was sent to Wammy's and had to try to make sense of that kind of cutthroat environment all on their own?" Because that's basically probably how younger me would've been, hahaha
8: thing that gives me second-hand embarrassment about this character: There's not really enough about A in the novel to feel embarrassed about
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?: definitely was a cinnamon roll in my eyes, but we don't really actually know that for sure

Since you discussed Florence before, how about Dottie?
1: Sexuality headcanon = I know she had a husband/briefly flirted with Putty... buuut since she didn't seem too invested in said marriage (+only flirted with Putty to get back at Florence), I'm not sure if she's really that into guys (or, just romance as a whole)? 🤔 Idk... for now I'll say she's prob somewhere on the Ace scale rn.
2: Otp = No one really tbh... I feel like after awhile she's move on from wanting to get another husband/just enjoy living her best single life 👍
3: Brotp = Since her and Florence aren't exactly "friends" anymore, I can see Bloberta and Dottie getting along well to kinda balance out eachother's sassiness over coffee/sunday brunches lol.
4: Notp = Dottie x Putty... mainly 'cause I mean, that was already a dead-end since the Revs only liked her for her looks 🤷♀️
5: First headcanon that pops into my head = She used to be pushed into beauty pageants at a young age, from right when she just left diapers to graduating from highschool. In such a competitive, emotionally-draining environment... Dottie had to learn to "steel" herself to not be taken advantage of (which sadly, would come back to bite her in adulthood :c).
6: Favorite line from this character = "Hu-mil-ee-ate-teh-eh-eh-eh-d-UHH"... bruh, how can you not love that line? lmao
7: One way in which I relate to this character = Definitely a fan of the color pink, I must say :p
8: Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character = ...Weeeell, I mean her whole treatment of Florence in "Sundays" kinda speaks for itself tbh >>
9: Cinnamon roll or problematic fave? = While she may be a bitch... I can't say I'd really consider her that problematic compared to other Moralton residents (esp since she has shown to feel remorse deep down, upon realizing what she's done :( ). So, def still a problematic fave... but maybe not too late to change with enough good writing?
