The main character is a Filipina-Jewish girl, freshly moved across the country. The theme trying to find familiarity in a foreign environment, while being told in a lighthearted way, is super important to me!

Realizations from a Gen Z lesbian…

Principal Perry from Disney’s Lab Rats was a lesbian caricature. She was an antagonist/anti-hero (think Principal Laritate from Wizards of Waverly Place and Mr. Moseby from The Suite Life) and a lot of the jokes about her revolve around her being unfeminine and her being single/wanting to be with men but unable to attract them.

I can’t find a good quality pic but she wore a tux in one episode.

It's always fascinating to see the hatred the fandom has towards Principal Perry because, yes, it's valid because she's so vile -

But then I think about how Maile Flanagan was as a person, how the cast members love her and how she at one time brought pies from a famous pie place to the set because she wanted them to be able to try it too.

Idk. It's always funny how nice people often make for good TV/movie villains.

y'know, the one thing I really CAN'T stand in Lab Rats is the fact that like 30% (at the very least) of the jokes are about body-shaming

like... we can be funny without making fun of Chase and Donald's heights (both of whom are average for U.S. men???? I enjoy a good height joke every once in a while but there doesn't need to be 50 per episode), Bree and Perry's femininity, Leo, Chase, Perry's, and later Oliver's body size (EF Oli deserves to get dunked on but my boy Jake Short does not), or Eddie's 10 million jokes calling (the completely stunning) Angel Parker's Tasha ugly??? broooo

it's truly just a product of its time, sure. but still
