I went to the natural history museum at Harvard a few weeks ago, saw a Tasmanian Tiger in person for the first time, cried about it, and then proceeded to take photos of it from every angle possible as I stared longingly at it for many many minutes.

Richie. to me. is the type of guy to learn a backsault to impress Eddie. and it probably is impressive when he does it right. the sheer amount of power you have to have to get that amount of leg over your head. however. the first time he does it in front of Eddie he practically face plants. right into the dirt.
it's okay though having Eddie fuss over him and any potential broken front teeth for over an hour more than made up for the embarrassment

thinking about how dan said about halfway through the pinofs you he starts to question his life choices and then it picks back up and honestly that just put so many pieces together for me.
i think 1-3 have the nostalgia factor because they were just silly guys having fun and not actually caring about the audience’s perception of them. 4-5 have a weird shift in tone that’s like— what is happening who are these people in comparison. most notably 4, being lower energy and 5 just feeling strictly like they seem kinda like they have to?
and then 6-7 being probably their peak. you can tell at this point this is their career and they are embracing it and playing to it the way their audience was ready to eat up at the time. i think 8-10 is kinda when they take this using what they know works slowly starts to turn back into a sort of fuck it, we’re here, why not just be silly again. i think they had settled a lot out of their Youtube Personalities and really started just vibing on the internet which made the last few pinofs pretty low stakes but they still were able to cater them to the audience.
idk it’s kind of interesting to sit and watch that evolution happen just through pinofs if you weren’t there to experience the growth in real time

but wait while were on the topic of Do People These Days Even Know About [insert thing] (were not i was just thinking about lavender saiko again)
do people these days know that for some reason in the anime during the school trip to okinawa specifically the onsen scene yokota and murata inexplicably have their parts (and names) switched. like them being such minor characters the anime staff mixes up the names is one thing but they fully animated yokota do what murata did and inversely. what was up w that

Things I liked about Control in no particular order:
"Only now it's raining, I don't know, knives? Knife rain."
The rainbow-oil slick shimmery haze that comes off of bad guys when you kill them.
People possessed by The Hiss repeat the same string of phrases over and over, but it can be difficult to make it out (which makes it even more unsettling). One time it sounded like it said, "You are home. You remind Us of home." Straight up gave me chills. I've never heard those words said so menacingly.
The way the Board struggles with the limitations of English and sometimes uses multiple words at once ("ascend/super hero") to convey to Jesse exactly what they mean. And it's STILL a struggle for them. During one hotline call, they basically just said, "We are failing at this, never mind, disregard this call" and hung up lol
The game constantly plays with language, communication, in all its forms. Even colors and shapes are used to convey something to Jesse about her surroundings (The pulsing, organic red of The Hiss, the geometric swirling blue of Polaris that almost looks like an iris/kind of reminded me of Jesse's own eyes)
Trench's hotline call sequences where he's smoking and standing and looking off into the distance should've gotten annoying but they honestly haven't yet? I just think it all looks really cool and I reallyyyy love the artistic choices they made there.
The way everyone struggles to understand Ahti the janitor because you can tell he's just translating Finnish (at least I'm pretty sure it's Finnish, correct me if I'm wrong) sayings directly into English, but outside of their cultural context they lose some of their meaning/become more difficult to fully understand. So fun and fascinating.
The aesthetics the aesthetics the aesthetics. GOD it is so pretty and yet unsettling, disorienting, downright scary at times. How do they walk that knife's edge between beauty and horror so effortlessly? I'm so impressed.

Bégearss and Wilhelm from The Ghosts of Versailles!
[Mod note: I am begging you guys to watch Bégearss's worm aria because I cannot even begin to describe how much is wrong with this man. He is vile. He has a riding crop. He's even a tenor. You can fix him.]

Seeing the Dannypocalypse reminds me how old classic nicktoons are and how young me and my sister really are.
So if I get this correctly Danny Phantom premeired on Nickelodeon on April 3rd 2004.
Well, I have a sister, she was born on the ides of March 2004.
She is older than the cartoon by 2 weeks, and that’s wild seeing how popular a cartoon is to this day that when it made its debut when my sister was just opening her eyes for the first time.

I just bought myself a manga about the artist going through severe illness and I found it comforting to read someone else's experience, so I thought maybe I would share a little about my experience with MCAS again. so here's all the pills I take!
cromolyn. 2 ampules mixed with water 4x/day (although I'm often out of bed for 12 hours or less and have trouble keeping track of time, so often it's 3x instead). mast cell stabilizer.
multivitamin. I only took this for a week so far and stopped to gather data. (my paranoia was getting bad, which often means I'm reacting to a med. this is a cheap one with many fillers.) meant to make up for difficulty accessing food and possible malabsorption.
fludrocortisone. 2 pills a day. for POTS.
atenolol. 1 per day. also for POTS.
montelukast. 1 per day. technically for asthma, but works by blocking one of the signals the mast cells send.
loratadine (aka claritin). 1 pill 2x/day, which we had to fight the insurance about after a while. antihistamine, meant to prevent anaphylaxis by blocking a different mast cell signal.
aspirin. 2 pills 2x/day. to reduce inflammation and control chronic pain.
whichever oral hormonal birth control my insurance will give me (it varies). 1 per day. menstruation makes my MCAS flare and I still have incomplete cessation even after an ablation, so I keep taking it even when not putting myself at risk of pregnancy.
dye-free diphenhydramine (aka benadryl). another antihistamine, taken when my MCAS flares to reduce or completely end the symptoms. (the pink dye in the regular formulation is actually a very common trigger.)
low-dose prednisone. steroid kept on hand for unavoidably high-demand occasions (like moving across the country) or unshakable prolonged flares (like, a week).
that's 8 pills in the morning, 3-4 at night, 8 ampules in the day, and 2 different emergency meds. plus I try to drink a gatorlyte every day (also good for POTS and certain mineral shortages) and try to avoid triggers (including heat, stress, and overexertion -n- )
3 and 4 were the first meds that ever made me feel any better, before we'd figured out it was MCAS. (likely with secondary POTS/EDS.) 6 and 7 are the first line treatment for MCAS, they're the first medications I actually took *for* it. they are often used in combination with famotidine (aka pepcid) but that made my paranoia super bad so I stopped taking that one.
this was my regimen established before I got covid last july, which made my MCAS much worse, which also made it impossible to get a new doc post-move since I can't physically get to an appt. so this is likely to change once I have medical care again. being sick is a lot of work!
