You always know it’s going to be a good episode of the West Wing if President Bartlet, is wearing a Notre Dame sweatshirt or if we get Josh and Sam and Toby in casual clothing .

happy ides of march to everyone except the bartlet senior staff who have to listen to a two hour-long tirade on the ides of march, the myths surrounding it, politics in caesar’s day, and the shakespeare play (and yes, all of them wondered if it was worth it to stab bartlet. just to go home.)

Favorite West Wing character? Favorite West Wing scene?
It's tough to pick a favorite character from The West Wing because I really liked so many of the main people. I guess if I was forced to choose, it would be Leo McGarry. Josh and Toby aren't too far behind, but John Spencer was always incredible and I loved Leo.
Favorite scene? It's pretty impossible for me to pick anything other than President Bartlet yelling at God and then cursing him in Latin inside the church in "Two Cathedrals". That's such an incredible few minutes that I actually remember where I was when I watched it live. Honorable mention to Leo and Admiral Fitzwallace in the Situation Room in "We Killed Yamamoto". John Amos knocks it out of the park in that scene: "You're talking to me about international laws? The laws of nature don't even apply here! I've been a soldier for thirty-eight years and I've found an enemy I can kill. He can't cancel Sharif's trip, Leo, you've got to tell him he can't cancel it."

If you are not a fan of The West Wing, you do not understand the absurd amount of enjoyment Joe Biden has given us by falling off his bike today.
I wonder how many White House staffers got the message 'POTUS In A Bicycle Accident' & had deja vu?
At least he didn't come to a sudden arboreal stop
I'll be re-watching this tonight

the world needs more carefully crafted TWW character-specific playlists that really speak to the character...
so here is one i've been crafting to encapsulate everyone's favorite grump, toby ziegler.

goddamn for all its flaws, the west wing was perhaps one of the best-acted shows and (often) among the best-written
fucking POSSE COMITATUS
martin sheen’s president bartlet is some mix of:
- furious that he’s being forced into this choice with sharif
- aggrieved that it’s all being treated like a foregone conclusion
- devastated that this last (or maybe only) piece of humanity has to be ripped away from him
and he plays it with this casual demeanor as if he can deny reality. every response and question he brings to the sit room is like him playing the part, a figurative sidelong glance and a smirk like “look at these guys” to the audience
surely, this is the most absurd meeting i’ve ever sat in, he says
knowing this choice is one he was (probably) always going to have to make, given the state of the world
and perhaps it’s just that he couldn’t (didn’t have to) confront it until now
but every decision he’s made has been of this magnitude
[ok and then obviously CJ AND SIMON]
[DEBBIE FIDERER]
what a fucking episode

If you've never seen The West Wing, I beg of you to watch the President of the United States absolutely demolish a woman who believes "homosexuality is an abomination" with the bible itself. This is the greatest scene of the entire series and it's delivered so well.
The quality isn't great, but it's worth it. I promise. It's what should be said to anyone who uses the bible to spread hate.
Love it.
PLEASE watch it. It will not disappoint.
