Sunday morning photoshoot.
Kenya and Kane are all packed and ready to head to the airport and take their flight to Kenya’s surprise vacation destination. He woke her up early in the morning, telling her to put on this dress with these new shoes he bought her and brought a fully packed suitcase in their room.

I gotta say, I had first understood the question at a very basic level. 😅 How do I make a post? Well...
I queue my stuff almost immediately and I keep a few character asks and reblogs for the times when I don't have any story content to post, but I don't like having too many drafts (like, "it's right there, I have to poooooost iiiiiit 🤪").
Story posts get published between 2pm and 4pm CET, at the pace of about 2 to 4 posts per day.
The rest (photo shoots, character asks and rambles, etc) gets published either at around the same time of day or whenever I feel like it.
But now, I see that other people have answered this question by explaining their creative process. So I thought I would also explain mine (haven't I done this before?). My process is quite similar to @kimmiessimmies, but I do things in a different order.
Timeline
I have a timeline and a very messy one! It used to be only in my head, then in a Word document, and now it's finally in an Excel sheet. It includes detailed ideas about the next scenes, where I'm going to shoot them, which characters are going to be involved, some lines that I absolutely need to use, and broader musings on where the story is going within a time frame of about 8,000 years.
It's a beast that's alive and constantly mutating.
2. Set up
Setting up a scene is easy prep work. If I don't have one in mind yet, I roam about some neighborhoods for a nice shooting location. I make sure that everything is in place for the next scenes: dressing up Sims, adding some story-related decor items, looking up CC if I miss something important, making sure I got all the characters I need in the same household and teleporting them on the lot I'm going to shoot in.
3. Pose selection / Shooting
Whenever I can summon enough energy and inspiration, I go in game and the first thing I do is pre-select some poses for the scene I need to shoot according to my timeline. From there, I go with the flow. I need to be hyperfocused because I'm in total improv mode. I use several poses in different angles. Sometimes a specific pose/expression gives me new ideas and I go in a different direction than what I had planned. Sometimes I cannot find the exact pose/expression I want and I have to work around that. Sometimes I'm inspired, sometimes I'm not. Very often, the game crashes and I get very upset.
The dialogues start taking shape while I'm shooting.
4. Picture selection / Writing
When I have enough screenshots to write at least one scene (although I generally wait to have several scenes ready), I start writing and make a prayer to my muse that I'll remember the dialogues I had in mind while shooting. That part is both the best and the worst. The best because I can really get "in the zone", and the worst because I easily have writer's block and get stupidly stuck on a line.
Through this whole process, I use Comic Life. I select a pic, smash it into my story template, select a speech bubble and start typing. Rinse and repeat. I sometimes rewrite entire parts, changing the order of the pics. I use about 40% of the shots I take. I do very little editing, only to correct clipping or lighting. Once I feel like I have enough pics to make an update (about 150-200 - I often have to repeat steps 3 and 4 until I'm satisfied), I export everything from Comic Life in jpg format. My husband is my proof-reader. I hate re-reading my own shit at this stage because it's smeared with my tears and blood and I just want it out.
5. Posting on Tumblr
Next I prepare the Tumblr posts, adding tags and scheduling everything. I post a preview, usually a day before the queue starts. Maybe I should leave some more time between preview and first post, but I'm too impatient to wait. IT.MUST.BE.OUT.
6. Posting on WordPress
I used to prepare the WP draft post at the same time as the Tumblr scheduling, with a date set for publication on the day of the last Tumblr posts. I don't do that anymore because I make minor edits all the frigging time and I then need to update both my Tumblr queue AND my WP draft. So I prepare my WP post once my Tumblr queue has almost run out. Since I use my WP mostly for myself, to keep some sort of table of content, it wouldn't be a big deal if I ever forgot to publish and was a few days late.

Like I said, a lot in common with my fellow Sims storytellers but in a slightly different order! I hadn't intended to write a whole essay, yet here we are. 🙃 Apologies, I'll shut up now. 🤐

Family Member Trait
This is a very simple trait to track your legacy families. It is inherited from parent to child and all it does it give them a trait called Family Member so that you will know which sims your sim is related to after you've lost track, or just to have it there. There is no added effect from being near family--your sims can have a close or difficult relationship without this trait affecting your story.
For your founder (or any sim you're applying it to manually), you can find the Family Member reward trait in the reward store for 100 Satisfaction Points, or you can cheat it on to them (for example, by using MCCC > MC CAS, or you can turn on testing cheats and use the cheat 'traits.equip_trait amethyst_lilac:family_member_reward_trait_basic').
Then, when they have biological children, they will inherit the trait. From Owen down to baby Tabitha.
If you use Show/Search Sim Info (updated by Frankk https://frankkmods.com/#/mods/show-sim-info), you can search all sims in the world to find your family.
The trait is Base Game Compatible and has no custom strings, so it should already be translated to all languages.
To have the trait appear in the reward store or be inheritable, you NEED Lot51's Core Library (https://lot51.cc/core). Otherwise you will need to cheat the trait on, and it will be cosmetic only (no inheritance). But if you want to use it for that, feel free.
It DOES apply to science babies.
It does NOT apply to pre-existing children, children made in CAS, adopted children, or relationships created in any other way then birth or science baby, but you can manually add the traits to them in live mode.

barely lol. sometimes i post occasional things for dl. my knowledge of cc making only scratches the surface. i can do the basics like make poses, and custom photos (alongside sims and builds - but who doesnt).
ive tried to get into cc making a couple of times but its so complicated? i have mad respect for cc makers in the community. ill leave that job to the professionals.

back in my day... lol not so much anymore. after i took a fat hiatus a lot of the people i used to regularly talk with moved on.
@pixelevia is still my girlie. she doesnt post much, but we talk all the time off tumblr and regularly get each other excited about sims storylines that are yet to come to life lol.

yes.. i am embarrassed to say that when ts4 was release i pre-ordered the deluxe version. it came with a mouse pad.. its long gone now. but i always remember it having a funky smell ??
also i dont wanna talk about the fact i paid an arm and a leg for ts4 (i dont even play it?!) and now its free. forever going to be salty over this fact.

depends on the picture! usually for scenery pics I will just sharpen them and adjust the brightness / saturation / contrast.
for sim pics it really just depends on how bothered I can be.
I’ve recently made the change to gshade so that’s been doing all the heavy lifting for me.
I use hunnybee’s moon syrups preset <3
What expansion/ stuff pack is your favourite?
university life!! it was the it was the first expansion pack i got and so it holds a special place in my heart. its also a pretty awesome pack too.

This has to be my fave apartment makeover I’ve ever done.
Heavily inspired by this apartment by Thetideschanging, but I put my own twist to it.
It’s now occupied by my current off-screen household, the sisters Ava and Felicity, and Felicity’s cat Oliver (I just couldn’t resist lol OTP).

a visual guide | requested by @izayoichan
Iza asked me for some tips to get started with fantasy setup and scenery, and I've been asked before in the past, so I figured I'd just write up a post to better explain my personal process. This is by no means a tutorial and if you like your builds to be playable and seamless this is not the post for you. But if you're interested in how I go about things or just have a morbid interest in long rambling posts, enjoy!
decide what you want to see in your pictures
I approach all my pics the same way, because I generally have a specific look I want to achieve, the same way I have a type when I make sims, I like all my pictures to have a consistent aesthetic throughout. I think it's common that a lot of simblrs have a signature, even if they don't think they do. I'm just aware of mine and actively work towards it. But I haven't always had "my thing" and honestly the only way to find what is yours, is to try different things and find what stands out to you as being visually pleasing.
When I make photos I incorporate the same few elements; namely transparent curtains or "flowy draped things", leaves and florals which I use to frame my pictures to give some semblance of foreground and depth to my photos. Plus a lot of hazy soft white light... and sometimes sparkles.
One way I can recommend to find what your style is without taking heaps of pics, is to go through your favorite kinds of artwork and see what elements pop up repeatedly. What sort of things do you like about those pictures and how can you try to mimic or incorporate them in yours?
building with the final product in mind
A lot of people have asked for my builds over the years not realizing that while some of my sets are expansive, they are only made for the explicit purpose of taking pics, and that I intentionally angle photos to give the impression that there's more to it than there is. Most of my sets are very small and don't make much sense in practice:
Think of the sort of picture you want to make, and consider your formatting. For edits I do "pinterest/lock screen" style vertical format, which means I will have a very narrow, very tall lens, so I only need to decorate in a condensed space. For story shots I have to build more extensively because they are wide shots. Building for a specific picture or set of photos can reduce the amount of work you put into setup.
planning your set
Depending on the sort of theme you're going for, find some pieces of cc that illicit that vibe of the aesthetic you want. Here are a few of my go-to’s when I do anything elven:
Take lot space into account. I almost always build on 64x64 lots unless I am doing a single room. When I build small sets I usually focus on details up front, then get less detailed for the background because I know they will be blurred. This applies to lived in spaces like homes or community lots where you would clutter surfaces, or in wooded areas, use more of your flower and stone clutter in places you know will end up in the photos.
Larger sets are much trickier, because you have to have a sense of scale to make things seem realistic, but since ts4 gives us limited space to work on, it can be very challenging. For my castle and other large scale builds I usually only build one particular area on a lot, then other pieces of it on separate lots. [For example, in this CotS scene, the bridge entrance into the banquet hall was on one lot, while the interior was on another]. This is one way I make things seem larger than what they really are. But this is not recommended for someone who wants full builds with all locations seamlessly together.
When I start building, I generally begin at the middle and expand outwards. I’m not one of those smart people that pre-plans where everything will go on a lot, I just go in swinging and hope things fall into place lmao. Please reference this ask for more evidence of my failure and disorganization amazing city-building skills.
Use flowers, rocks and bushes to hide sharp edges or corners, especially to cover the bottom of walls or foundation. A little terrain painting underneath to add naturalness, and some fallen leave clutter to give the appearance of the passage of time.
Scale is really important in high fantasy. As scenery elements in fantasy concept art, movies or video games are often depicted as massive, and impose themselves on the surrounding setting. Here’s a great video that explains scale in art. How can we achieve this in sims? Easy! We have the power of resize button ;) Add some interesting angles and voila!
Make the lot seem bigger, more "mystical" with the use of fog and light objects for exteriors, or mirrors when doing interior/corridors.

As a purely alpha simmer, I also use heavy foliage, cliff rocks, backdrops and fog to obscure the maxis match game world.
Use TOOL mod and OMSPs like your life depends on it.
If you want more technical and visual guides on how to build in ts4, or do big city builds, I know kateEmerald and SatiSims both have time lapse and how-to videos on their youtube channels.
When building fantasy sets I don't usually have reference photos. The fun part is creating my own personal world, so I don't want to mimic something inch by inch. Instead I try to recreate a feeling for myself. I've always loved fantasy, LOTR in my favorite movie, and WoW was my first major MMO. Their settings make me incredibly nostalgic, not only for the feel of the parallel history they represent, but for the time and place in my life in which I discovered them. When I'm building, I am specifically trying to recapture that feeling. Which is why I settle on a handful of sets and use them again and again, because they represent some portion of that memory.
It's hard to explain it in writing, but I recommend digging through your own personal experiences with your favorite fantasy game series, novel or maybe a place you visited that gave you a feeling of "magic" and try to weave that into your build. One such place for me is Yehl/Vaia's bedroom, which reminds me a lot of the room in Rivendell where Frodo wakes up after Arwen's ride, or the inn from AoA which makes me nostalgic for the renaissance festival in my home state. Focusing on the feeling can be sometimes better than trying to recreate something, because often when using a fantasy concept ref you are going to run into some game limitation, especially if you can’t make your own cc, and that will discourage you from continuing. It may also be better than using other people's game photos as reference, because then you will likely end up too similar and that style wont feel like your own. But if you’re just starting out, I really recommend using pinterest to collect some images of things you like, photographs or artwork, anything. It’ll give you a starting point if you’re completely lost.
After sitting down and trying to write this up, I realized it’s much more difficult to explain via text how I make any of my sets LMAO. I know you primarily asked for my thought process and such, but I’ll be happy to try and answer any specific questions you might still have. All in all, the only way to improve is to practice. And try not to get discouraged and give up, because that only hinders progress. Find some part of it that you can love, cuz otherwise you’ll never be able to make yourself do it xD Anyways, this was just a long drawn out way of saying “throw things at the wall and hope they stick”, GL!

On and off since uhh 2004?? My first exposure to the Sims was The Sims: Bustin’ Out for the PS2, where I had a sim named Pepto Bismol.

How long have you been a Simblr, and why did you become one?
I’ve been a simblr since uhhh December 2017? I wasn’t that active then because I was too busy trying to figure out how everything worked on Tumblr since I never really had one (My really old one in like 2010 or w/e doesn’t count since all I did was reblog things when I remembered I even HAD a tumblr ahahahah)
I became a simblr only because I was told I should have one lmfao 😭 I thought simblr was scary bc ppl come and go all the time and everyone’s so good at editing n shit n all i ever do w my screenshots is redraw a hand every now and again
anyways Pre-Dec 2017 I made poses for myself, friends, and basically anyone who asked because I loved storytelling in The Sims. No one back then ever made poses for children specifically since child rigs in like 2015-2016 were so janky the only way to make them was to pose an adult rig and import it--so I decided that I could put up my random child poses for download in case anyone else was like me and needed them
even tho everything i made back then was.................................. questionable

The kind that tries to post sims-related content but fails bc they post pics of their INCREDIBLY HANDSOMe son every other time i mean c’mon u cant blame me for that just look at him

This was a trend on instagram called #faceyourart but I thought it would be fun to bring it around simblr. Post 9 faces of sims you have 100% created (not born in game) to spot similarities and to see your style.
Thanks for tagging me @helloavacadooo ! Since the great computer crash of 2020, I’ve been trying to replenish my sims stock, but it’s been slow going. (please note: many of these pics were taken pre eye defaults, lol)These are some of the OC’s that have been made from scratch. Some of my stories major players however, were either made over NPC’s & in-game characters or gifted to me by other simmers and didn’t fall into this challenge’s guidelines.
One thing I’ve always known about my style is that I prefer square/sharper jawlines, high cheekbones and smaller eyes.

1. what is the first Sims game you ever played?
It was the Sims freeplay on my phone 😄
2. what is the first Sims game you bought?
It was actually Sims 3 late night cause I bought the Sims 3 base game with late night and high end loft stuff from target 🌃
3. what is the last Sims game you bought?
The Sims 4 Get Famous 🎬
4. what sims game are you currently playing?
The Sims 4 (the sims 3 doesn’t work on my laptop unless I only play with 1-3 packs installed and without CC 😅)
5. what is your favorite world?
Brindleton Bay all the way, I love the coastal theme and feel of it 😍
6. who is your favorite pre-made family?
Oh man, I really like a bunch of pre-made families, but my favorite is the Caliente household cause they’re the first premade sims that I made over and played with as a household 🌶
7. what packs do you wish you had in your game?
I have them all as well 😄 but I really like the look of the Strangerville pack and I think it’d be perfect for Abby. I’m also glad there’s an opt out option so your sims could just live there without any conspiracy stuff
8. who is your favorite sim you made?
Just one sim? 😅 I don’t know, I’m having a hard time choosing. Can I just say both Kaitlyn and Maya? (also this is a throwback pic of them)
9. how many years have you been playing the sims?
Since I was 17, so 4 years 🤔
10. when did you start your simblr?
I think it was almost 2 years ago, in May? 🧐
