okay this is gonna be kind of obscure i saw it _ages_ ago but does anyone remember that one post about a historical battle simulator tabletop game, and it had to do with a player who was notoriously committed to a particular troop deployment pattern and a stickler for the rules about it getting his ass kicked by a different player who showed up with the equivalent of a joke deck and exploited some byzantine loophole in the movement rules to corner the first guy into a loss? i can’t remember what the hell game it was to try and find the story again, if anyone remembers what it was and can link me i’d appreciate it!!

my datemate has been thoroughly educating me about final fantasy 7, including showing me the movie, which had absolutely zero plot whatsoever and it was PERFECT that way??? like. must a movie have things happen in it. can it not simply be an hour and forty minutes of flexing how many polygons the animation department has access to now via baller fight scenes loosely strung together to make a character study. advent children was a masterpiece, you cannot change my mind.

i was originally planning to do a cactuar but my dad kinda vehicularly manslaughtered my pumpkin before i had the chance to do anything with it, so i pivoted a little bit to work the damage in XD

it still turned out pretty fucking good though if i do say so myself!!

i remember seeing a post with a clip from a tv show that aired a couple years ago where two characters got isekai’d(?) to a fantasy world, knew they were being magically spied on, and got around it by speaking entirely in tv references - i remember ‘xoxo gossip girl’ specifically being used - and having the “translation“ of the darmok-and-jalad in subtitles as they’re talking

but i cannot for the LIFE of me remember what series it was, or how to find the clip again - can anyone point me in the right direction?

no pressure or obligation to act on this, but my family is doing a really cool thing and i'm trying to spread the word about it!

a team of my cousins are preparing to run the berlin marathon together, and they're representing (and raising money for!) two substance abuse and addiction recovery organizations: Release Recovery in new york, and the High Watch Recovery Center in connecticut, where two of my family members currently work. we're all really proud of what they're doing, and i'm trying to do my bit to help out!

i linked my cousin sean's page above, he's come a long way down an incredibly difficult road of recovery so this cause is near and dear to his and all of our hearts. i'd also encourage reading my other cousins' pages as well! sparky's, john's, and katrina's are for High Watch too, while david's and bryan's are for Release Recovery.

if you wanted to send a single donation to be split evenly between them all, though, john has volunteered to organize that through his venmo @John-McGowan-6 to make it easier!!

again, obviously no pressure to donate, i know we're all basically passing the same $20 bill around in circles, but it's a really fantastic cause spearheaded by some genuinely good people in my family and i just want to do my best to get the word out for them - i would super appreciate it if anyone's willing to pitch in!
