I’d heard a lot of people saying that (pre-kinnporsche), UWMA was the Thai BL with the most international appeal. I’ve only watched a handful of BL series, all Thai and from the last 4 or 5 years, but I just finished UWMA and I found its portrayal of sex so jarring compared to everything else I’ve seen, even KP’s dubcon. Do you think this is something that has changed really recently in BL? Or have I just been lucky to avoid this trope in the other BL series I’ve seen?
You are talking about the blushing maiden trope and it is VERY VERY common in BL of the lighter variety (dark BL is different) since it's inception, with the only consistent exception being Taiwan.
Generally speaking, Thai BL has been pretty sex negative (or non representative of sexual interest) with a few NOTED exceptions for the past 8 years. This is mostly because they like a very strong seme/uke dynamic. It's only recently that we have seen a consistent trend in sex positive representation and high heat content and that has been coupled with a more queer lens as well. It's the natural evolution of the field, thank fuck. But also, I think, pressure from international audiences and out queers within the BL industry.

Brielle: “But I do. Now I’m in my 3rd trimester, I can’t even fit through a door frame anymore without clipping.”

Alejandro: “Yeah, I thought a pregnancy photo shoot might make you feel better? To capture the fact that you're a divine Goddess?"
Brielle: “I don’t think I want to remember what I look like. I used to be skinny. Abnormally skinny. Like where did I fit my organs skinny.”
Alejandro: “You’re beautiful. You'll always be beautiful to me. Hopefully this photo shoot will help you see yourself the way I do.”
Brielle: “Aww Alejandro, you’ve made me all sentimental.”
Rowan: “Don’t mind me guys. Just tell me when you’re done and I’ll stop playing my game and do the photoshoot.”
Brielle: “So… I have to stand here in my basic underwear and pose?”
Rowan: “Yes sorry. The Watcher hasn’t installed any cute couple pregnancy poses. Or splurged on the simtimates kit.”
Brielle: “Typical.”
One pregnancy photoshoot later…
I think they turned out pretty well.
Maybe someday I’ll get custom poses & clothing… when I have enough money to buy kits and a laptop that can handle the bazillion mods/cc I’d love to install.

So finally got to watching Puss in Boots: T Last Wish
And I loved it! I love Puss panic moments. YOU COULD FEEL THE FEAR. THE STRESS. AND DEATH IS WONDERFULL IN THE MOVIE! THE WHISTLE IS ESTABLISHED AS A CALL SIGN OF SORT AND ITS BLOODY CREEPY!
THE JOKES WERE SOMEHOW GOOD! It didn't overuse on jokes like in most of DreamWorks stuff. They gave me a nice giggle and straight up hysterical at some points. ESPECIALLY BIG JACK HORNER! AND THE CHARECTORS FELT NATRUAL AND NOT FORCED!
DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE MUSIC! IT IS FANTASTIC! My favorites are the songs that play during fights. I JUST LOVE IT!
OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
First time an animated movie gave me the creeps but to a level THAT I LOVED IT!

Long Fic Musing
At some point I want to write long fiction like the ones I did for Azul and Rollo for most of the twst cast because I like thinking about where in the story they would have fallen in love with Yuu/how but eh
Originally I only intended to do it with ones I saw as having a bad/negative impression of Yuu at the start since that's interesting to me.... so here's a small handful of who I thought would be on that list?
Jade- says he originally found Yuu boring. I actually have like 2k words written for him where he made a checklist of things he thought about Yuu and went about collecting evidence to rule them in or out and ends up realizing how much he likes them on the way, but idk if I'll keep that set up.
Leona- he's hard for me to understand as a character since he doesn't interact with Yuu much... I could see it being a Darcy like situation though. I'd need to think about him more but I know he's on the list.
Riddle- I already know the set up for this one, it involves teaching him to cook and him wanting to apologize properly for what he said about Yuu before his overblot. Riddle doesn't seem like he'd understand what he's feeling at first and also would want there to be rules for it... which made me think about the rules of courtly love and save them on a file in my computer somewhere.
Idia- he doesn't have anything good to say about anyone... but he can also be really soft. I want to theme it around Orpheus and Eurydice since the story Idia knows about someone saving their lover from the Underworld has a happy ending while the one Yuu knows does not. So Yuu is more accepting of tragedy and sacrifice in love than Idia is.
Ace- his negative opinion only lasts a day, but I want to write him feeling like he friendzoned himself and lying about how he's happy with that and thinks love is lame like he doesn't want to marry them in the future. And how he wishes he could pu ch himself in the face for thinking negatively in the first place.
Inversely I also want to write one of these for Floyd, who has a posative (in his mind anyway) opinion of Yuu from the start but has massive problems communicating that to Yuu. I also really like the idea of him having a one-sided rivalry for Yuu's affection with Ace (who just sees Yuu as a friend and wishes Floyd would just. Ask them out already.)
I'll think about one of these after I finish Trey's fic... but that will be a long time out.

my immediate yellowjackets reactions/thoughts:
- is lottie's cult in the woods where they crashed? we have no idea how far the kidnappers brought nat, and that would be the most "authentic" location in their eyes. would lottie want to go back there? it's unclear if "it doesn't want us to leave" is a distinctly negative or posative thing in her eyes.
- other people have said this, but shauna is totally gonna feed jackie to the rest of the team. while i think she's seriously traumatized and shut off from reality, i think her strongest instinct is one of survival. we saw this at the end when she ate the ear. she'll convince herself that it wasn't that bad, and that the others are better off eating her and not knowing. i think it'll go on for a while like this, and then eventually someone will go into the cabin for unrelated reasons and find jackie mutilated.
- what is going on with shauna seeing jackie? is she actively hallucinating, or is she having a very morbid, intense daydream? i can't tell how aware she is of the real situation, and how much she's actually experiencing.
- im very intrigued by the callie storyline. will she confront shauna and jeff directly, or will she start to actively fear them? i wonder if she'll think that they might hurt her (or worse) if they know she knows. while she's definitely not a pleasant character, and a really interesting one. im glad to see more of her this season.
- the new girls??? hello??? i feel like how i felt when dawn was introduced in buffy. like, are we just supposed to accept that they've been here the whole time, and we've just never focused on them? i guess it makes sense from a narrative perspective: at this point, there are only a few 1996 characters that we don't know the eventual fates of. it makes sense that they'd introduce newer, more mysterious people to fill in those gaps. i just hope that we finally figure out how many people are on this goddamn soccer team, because i lose a few brain cells every time i see someone we've never seen before.
- we now have confirmation that lottie's abilities can extend beyond herself, and that she can make other people see/feel things. i wonder if this was also being suppressed by the meds, or if the woods themself brought it out of her.
ill add to this list as i think of more stuff, but i honestly just don't know where to begin. god, this show

Ariel was my favorite Disney Princess as a kid, and Rapunzel is my favorite Disney Princess now (obviously) so of course I gotta give them the highest honor of making a Raeda Au of their movies 🙌

Ah goddammit. I shouldn't have looked up how to free Orpheus, because now I know I have this fucking difficult, horrible-ass decision either way. Make one choice, I can potentially save more people in the grand scheme of things, but potentially doom my companions, take the other and they can be saved, but at the cost of anger and possible alienation, plus the long run posatives of the first choice. Either way you choose, you cannot win, huh? And I know just what my dumb fucking self-sacrificing idiot warlock will probably do...

Obviously dove is SUFFERING and I’m sorry Kemp turned out to be a bigger POS than expected BUT Andy losing it felt amazing. And go Dove for having the foresight to catch it on camera!! Go girl!! Shows she IS capable of more than she realises and has an edge to her. I just hope she finds the strength to utilise it against Bonnie and Clyde.
Well Kemp enabled a man who didn't realy hide his own POSness. Andy melting down was a tiny victory but poor dove is just getting passed around. I think she's close to seeing the light tho.
