Heads up ATLA fandom (& any DMC newbies)
This post just seems like a fairly typical shit-tier take for this fandom, but I feel like it's pretty important context that this person is completely unhinged & is not worth engaging with even for drama. She's a known crazy in the Devil May Cry fandom. And when I say known crazy, I mean it. You can chat to someone & say something like 'this fandom is pretty chill except that one person' & EVERYBODY KNOWS WHO YOU MEAN
You can find a post with a summary of her bullshit here (warning for a bunch of slurs & nasty stuff). More can be found in this tag here (though it might be easier to use the Archive link to view the tagged posts because there is A Lot).
(Note: derelict-stranger used to be thephantomporg84. When she changed her url, someone else in the fandom claimed it & put it to better use. So don't be too confused if you see someone referencing thephantomporg84 as being the one doing this stuff, or calling the drama llama Porgie or Porg.)
Don't even bother engaging with this person. Fandom is full of people with bad takes but who you can have an interesting discussion with. This isn't one of those people. Either block her or poke her with a stick & sit back with popcorn, but arguing or debating will get you nowhere.
I wouldn't be surprised if she has harassed people in asks or comments on posts - if she was happy to do that for an antagonist who was liked by a fandom, I'm sure she'd be even more keen on harassing people over antagonists where she knows she has wide support over disliking. So if you've received anon hate over Azula or Ozai, might be worth comparing it to her way of typing & seeing if you come up with a match.

On SWTOR and canon
So the Star Wars Celebration was this past weekend. SWTOR was there, sort of. They sent in a few of the writers and devs - conspicuously, the devs who were NOT responsible for the horrifying overhaul to the game and the discord drama - but they didn't have a table or cantina. They had to hang out at the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes table and had no fanfare, no signs, nothing.
It's sad. It's really, really sad that for the tenth anniversary, this is where it is. But I think EA and Disney have given up on this game entirely. I think they knew that if they had a cantina they'd likely be fielding a lot of comments from angry fans. But I also think they didn't get the funding to do a cantina, and I don't think they had exciting plans for the future they could share.
One thing that was brought up on the official forum is that SWTOR is the last bastion of Legends, and that Disney likely would like to make that go away. We know they are willing to discard literal decades worth of comics and novels - they did that with the EU established with Mara Jade, the Solo kids and the New Jedi Order. They just threw every bit of it away. Given that, I think they'd have little trouble throwing away SWTOR, even though it's ten years old.
I think Disney is focusing on things like the Mandalorian, Doctor Aphra in the post-A New Hope era and Kenobi before the Battle of Yavin for a really good reason: they know the post-RoTJ stuff they've done has not been well received. They wasted the EU and its rich characters; they wasted the talented actors who appeared in the sequels; they wasted characters who frankly could have been amazing, like Finn, Rey, Rose and Poe; they wasted cute characters like BB-8 and the porgs; and they wasted the potential for great new relationships, like Finn/Poe/ They threw every bit of it away.
But they are still fucking with old properties, and KOTOR is supposedly getting a remake that will likely be Disney canon. From there...will SWTOR be up next? I hope not with every fiber of my being. +

In this house, crystals are not bled. There's no such fucking thing. They're attuned, and the red ones are synthetic and a little more unstable.
In this house grey areas of the Force are entirely possible and exist.
In this house, Luke married Mara Jade and had a son and a New Jedi Order that worked.
In this house, Han and Leia had three kids and a granddaughter and a hell of a different life from the sequels.
In this house, I don't want Disney's Star Wars to touch the SWTOR universe. Even if they taint KOTOR, please, for God's sake, stay away from SWTOR. Please. I'm begging you, Disney. Frankly I hope they will do what they did to the extensive, awesome extended universe: ignore it and walk the other way, because if they touch it it will not be good.
Given the multiple different pathways characters in SWTOR can take, it would be plausible not to touch it. For real. They could be smart enough to crib from Final Fantasy XIV's reboot: "oh, the Sith Warriors and Jedi Consulars were there, so many warriors, but the records were all destroyed and their faces and names aren't known now!" ;) Say it was a fever dream. Say it happened in an alternate universe. Anything but making Lana, Darth Marr, Satele and the other beloved characters into...whatever they did in the sequels.

☆ ALICIA’S MONTHLY MEDIA MENTIONS: NOVEMBER `22
it's mid-December. school is eating me alive. but here are my media faves of November.
Visual:
Howl's Moving Castle (2004) dir. Hayao Miyazaki - I was never a Ghibli kid growing up, and I think part of the reason why is that I was not exposed to it when I was younger. But holy shit was I missing out. I loved the story, the animation was gorgeous. It has further cemented this desire to pursue a career in filmmaking.
Class Action Park (2020) dir. Seth Porges & Chris Charles Scott - So, this is a documentary about Action Park, a New Jersey water park from the 70s and the crazy fucking way it operated. I'd recommend watching it, just because it's absolutely wild seeing the different attractions they had and just how dangerous they were. But just a heads up that it swings between nostalgic past employers/customers to families who have been victimized by the owner who prioritizes capital gain over human life.
Extracurricular (2020) dir. Kim Jinmin - I don't watch too many k-dramas, because I feel like most of them have an unnecessary romance going on that I just don't want to see lol. This is no exception, but the plot is interesting. It's about a couple of high schoolers and how they get involved in a prostitution ring. It gets you asking some moral questions; it's one of those dramas you'd like to debate with someone over. Justice for Seo Minhee.
She Loves Me (film) dir. David Horn, Scott Ellis (staging) - For a school assignment, I'm making a theatre poster for the play Parfumerie, a Hungarian play written by Miklós László, set in a 1930s perfume shop, and watching She Loves Me was part of my research of the play. It's a sweet, romantic story between two coworkers who have unknowingly been exchanging letters with each other. For the trope fanatics, it's an enemies-to-lovers story. I wouldn't say the songs are quite memorable compared to other musicals I've watched, but it would be something fun to see as the holidays approach.
Fire of Love (2022) dir. Sara Dosa - This is a documentary about two French volcanologists, Maurice and Katia Krafft, and the exciting lives they led studying, filming, and photographing volcanoes. I watched this on a really cold day at the Hot Docs theatre in Toronto. I feel like I went in expecting a romantic movie about the pair, but it didn't quite feel that way. It focused more on their lives and the crazy expeditions they took to study volcanoes. If anyone has watched Guillermo Del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, the final episode, The Murmuring dir. Jennifer Kent, feels similar.
Atlanta, S4 EP8: The Goof Who Sat by the Door (2022) - My awesome roommate got me into watching Atlanta. So within a month or so, I had binged all four seasons. If you're unfamiliar with the show, it can only really be described as afro-surrealism - it follows its main cast through their ventures in Atlanta and navigating the music industry, and has the occasional off-plot single episode. And it's created by Donald Glover - so you know it's good. This episode is one of those off-plot ones and it's a mockumentary of the career of Thomas Washington, the first black animator and CEO of Disney. I went in thinking this was real LMFAO. But if you go in with that mindset, it's such an impactful episode. Any exaggeration or irony flies right past you and you just see the story and how amazing it is.

SMITHEREENS (2022) - Joji - Ugh. What can I say? It's so good. that good Joji sadness we all love to cry to. A few faves include Glimpse of Us, Die For You, YUKON (INTERLUDE), and 1AM FREESTYLE.
'The ReVe Festival 2022 - Birthday' - Red Velvet - I'm always excited for a Red Velvet comeback. I think the album is solid, but by far my favourite track is Celebrate. I listened to this album for the first time with my roommate, and it just so happens that both our birthdays are coming soon. (We're born three days apart!)
Books:
These are all books I'm in the midst of reading.
Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones - I decided to read this solely because I couldn't get enough of the film and decided to read the book as well.
Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon - I'm still in the middle of it, but I'd recommend this to fellow artists! An insightful, useful guide to making your way in the art world.

It's really funny when I see people say Porgs are just a marketing creation to merchandise because they're straight up not! Yeah, Disney leaned into the merch, as they and Star Wars do, but that's why they exist.
They exist because Skellig Island, where they filmed Ach-To has loads and loads of puffins. Puffins, which are not just adorable little birds but a highly protected species. There was absolutely no way to film without getting them in a ton of shots, and nobody wants a repeat of the ducks from the prequels being sudden Earth animals.
So, Rian Johnson and company had two real options: digitally erase all the puffins in every shot they show up in, which is possible but a lot of work to get right, or create a fictional adorable sea bird roughly the size and shape of a puffin, and replace all the errant puffins with porgs. That's easier to do on the effects side—even if you miss a couple in the distance, hey, those are obviously porgs!—and adds a delightful new creature to the galaxy.
Porgs exist because they're just space puffins. Not everything is a cynical cash in!

It's about time I started this Clown Crusade
Buckle your seat belts, this is gonna be a hella long ride
It's become quite clear in the DMC fandom that, even though everyone is having a great time, that there's this oooone little person that wants to try and ruin everything for everyone.
I'll give you a hot second to think about who this person is. If you thought @thephantomporg84 who now goes by @derelict-stranger than ding ding ding! You guessed right!
It seems like everyone who even has dropped by the tags has seen some of the bs they spew one way or another, whether by hearing it through the grapevine or actually involved with her bitch fits.
And she's made it quite clear that's she's not above sending all sorts of threats including death and other horrible things, even going as far as to go anon to send hateful messages. There's so much evidence against her, honestly it's piles of screenshots that she seems to conveniently forget that could be used against her at any given chance.
I've dealt with some of her shit already and I'll admit, I'm honestly entertained, hell I welcome it but I know that some here aren't so eager to get into a pissing match with her. She's gone too far in that sense, dragging people into this who have no idea what's going on other than simply telling her to calm down.
Now I'm gonna speak directly to you @derelict-stranger. You have got to be one of the biggest entitled choosing begged type Terfs I have ever seen. Like is this honestly all you do? Start fights with fandom that are just trying to have a good time? Cause honey, you really need a better hobby.
The funniest part is that this is all self inflected and you have every bit of what's coming to you well deserved. No one has stepped nearly as low as you yet you have the gal to play the victim? Yeah uhuh, try that again Boo, last I checked victims don't threaten people violently just for liking a video game that you don't. You say that others have sent a mob on you yet you're the one that caused it, no one called anybody, we were all here from the beginning.
Its funny, I wasn't even that big of a Vergil fan till you started this shit show, so I guess I can thank you for that 😘
All amusement aside though, it's a real low to use being on the spectrum as an excuse for your asinine behavior and as someone who is part of it and has grown up and known people of all varying degrees, you have no place to use that. Being on the spectrum doesn't give you a free ticket to be a complete degrading asshole to every person who has the slightest differing opinion than you and frankly, it's disgusting. It's people like you that make it far more difficult for people to see us as equals and without judgement like we're about to fly off the handle at any given moment. Sorry sweetheart but thats not the spectrum doing that, it's just you being delusional and clearly mistaken. Throw any excuse you got, it's not going to work, you've used up what little pity you could have had when you started this. Youre 24, it's about time your started acting it and grow the fuck up.
