The 2002 Red Dragon movie isn’t great, as a stand alone film or adaptation of the novel, but there are few things I like about it. One of them being this stupid ass silly little ponytail hair extension they put on Anthony Hopkins
I really just love thinking about the costume designer being like okay, how can we distinguish Hannibal Lecter’s look as a free man from that of him as an incarcerated man, and most importantly ... how can we remind viewers that Hannibal Lecter is FOPPISH and EUROPEAN
#it's so centered on the back of his head also? Season 1, Episode 35: The Jellicle Ball
Favorite moment: The moment with Grant and Yeet at the end. Yes, I know it's sad. I like sad things.
General thoughts:
Love the intro. Usual Suspects parody? Always down for that.
The dad fact section is super fun. Love the in-character bits, especially from Will.
I really like Berry the bare bugbear. She's fun.
This is a fun episode. Lots of cool world building with the football game. The characterization of Grant as a nervous teen with a crush is so real. Darryl with cringe dad energy is great. Matt does a fantastic job at making Grant feel embarrassed. I get secondhand embarrassment from some of these bits.
Sports center montage is great. Since Henry gets to just be a bird, there's no need to play it the whole thing. And Will and Freddie have great commentator voices.
The end of this episode is heartbreaking. Hats off to Anthony for doing a scene with himself and thank you Beth for eavesdropping. I can't imagine this show without that moment.
I think it's because the dramatic moments are so few and far between, but I go back and re-listen to these moments more than the goofs. I've listened to the last 20 minutes of this episode a lot. Like, a lot a lot. And it's always heartbreaking. And always well-acted drama. I love it.
Next time, more football. And an eldritch Charleston chew.

look i just think that if your show is going to try and portray your character as a good fencer (and by this i mean ACTUAL fencing. i give fantasy swordfighting the benefit of the doubt unless it's particularly stupid) a la lockwood and co, hawk eye, wednesday, etc, you've GOT to a) at least understand what the rules are, even if roughly and b) at LEAST understand what the swords LOOK like.
#sorry. sorry. thought about the fencing in the latter two#lockwood gets away with it because i enjoyed the rest of the show enough but it wasn't great. especially for anthony 'child prodigy'#but like. wednesday was just. poor. and the worst thing is it COULD have been fixed so easily to make me want to claw my eyes out a little#bit less. the 'tips off' conceit would still be dumb but it wouldn't make me want to scream if they'd picked a weapon that actually has them#fuck off with that. anyway#neon has thoughts#neon talks fencing#hawk eye no better. they directly said she was a champion AND then made her fight with a guy who was clearly and directly breaking the rules#and it's not like it was a spur of the moment thing they were supposed to be actually fencing. mad abt ot#*it

This poor boy is emotionally broken, little acts like this make him feel so moved and loved ☹️
Every time that him have a breakdown and isolates himself, Fat Nuggets comfort him, laying next to him and gently plays with the bracelet (or if he isn't using, Fat Nuggets will pick it up and take it to him, as if knowing it is an object of comfort).
