Local police shot a mentally ill person (again! third time in less than two years) while getting called for help/deescalation (again! by the victim himself) and of course everyone is immediately siding with the police because the person was mentally ill and armed with a knife. Local left party is calling for a vigil for a close look into the incident, their training and the abysmal mental healthcare here and now a different police department from the other end of the country is attacking their calls directly on social media everywhere. I hate this decade.

And my daughter hiding in the rose Bushes, asking who, who the sirens
Have come to kill. And someone calling It beautiful—summer, moon—
And someone dying beneath that beauty, Which is America.

Here's an adoption highlight for the day:
Yes the accelegor
Gender: F
Age: 3 years old and 2 months
Breed: standard
Yes her name is Yes. And she's also a victim of abuse of a Unovan police assault that sadly resulted in the passing of the original trainer.... (The police force is not something I would rather talk about but it's important for me to make this due to regulations) she was sent here 4 days later by the trainer's parents, and she shows a lot of trust issues on her end. Yes will require a good amount of time to open up to you if you're planning to adopt her. she has an old toy that we will send to you that she loves playing with and will become distressed if she doesn't play with it every now and then, she also doesnt have no preference for flavor food wise. a mental background check is needed with all this in mind before adoption can happen. other than that she'll need the same necessities as any other accelegor.
let me or apairy know by reblogging or asking about them if you want to know more about this pokemon, and if you're ready send over a reblog or ask about that. and as i said before, make sure to be ready have a mental background check by sending us some info (will be discussed in DMs)

I've been feeling really othered lately around my experiences with police abuse/state violence and that's frustrating when I'm around people who are at least intellectually supposed to "get it." It makes me feel like an alien, tbh.
See, I feel like people who intellectually understand that calling the police is harmful might still be willing to call the police. Ask me how I know....

People wonder why I hate cops and then this shit happens.
On December 30, 2022, Sheriff Deputy Jeff Racer Jr was driving over the speed limit without any sirens or police lights on the interstate in Huntington, West Virginia. He ran a red light at an intersection and struck a 13 year old girl, Laney Hudson.
Laney died shortly after EMS arrived.
She was thrown over half a block by the sheer force of the car striking her as she was crossing the street. Deputy Racer was quickly escorted away from the scene for alcohol and blood tests. He was completely sober. There was also a woman in the front seat of the car with him. It has also been revealed that Racer has a history of reckless driving while in a police cruiser.
As of now, Deputy Racer has not been charged with any criminal wrongdoing. He is currently on paid time off from his position as sheriff deputy. No being held in custody, no being forced to resign, not even an apology to Laney's family. Instead, he is being given paid time to sit at home and not face the consequences of his actions.
If this were a civilian's doing, said civilian would be behind bars with no chance at leaving within days. Instead, because Laney's killer was an officer, he is apparently above the law and can enjoy a paid leave.
PLEASE don't ignore this because it is in West Virginia. We face extreme harassment and general disregard for wellbeing from police as much as any large city or state. And because we are so isolated and negatively stereotyped, we are overlooked by most people in the media. Don't let that happen to this case. Don't let that happen to Laney.

So recently in Kentucky they put a man in jail for 10 years for killing a cop dog, he avoided murder of an officer through a plea deal
Simultaneously, our Attorney General Daniel Cameron (who is also running for governor) proposed a bill that would give the death sentence to cop killers.
Soooo we have to riot in the streets to see any semblance of justice for Breonna Taylor, but you'll get the death sentence for killing a cop dog?????

JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi sheriff’s deputies already under investigation for possible civil rights violations after allegedly placing a gun in a Black man’s mouth and firing it are now also being accused of attempting to assault him and a second Black man with a sex toy during an interrogation, The Associated Press has learned.
The allegations are contained in a letter to the Justice Department written by Michael Corey Jenkins’ attorney, who provided a copy to the AP. In it, attorney Malik Shabazz urges federal prosecutors to file civil rights charges against the deputies and to open a broader investigation into what he called the “unconstitutional customs and practices” of the entire sheriff’s office.
Jenkins has accused six deputies of bursting into a home where he was visiting a friend on Jan. 24, putting a gun in his mouth, and firing after nearly two hours of “torture.”
“This extreme case of police brutality warrants enforcement of the civil rights criminal laws on the books,” Shabazz said in a statement. “Sheriff Bryan Bailey and Rankin County are covering up the truth of what happened on Jan. 24, and all parties must be held accountable.”

Cops refuse to enter the elementary school and intervene while the active shooter is inside. Parents attempt to rescue their own children if the cops won't; cops handcuff, tackle, throw to the ground, and pepper spray parents in order to prevent them from doing so.

learning first aid for head trauma and shock by connecting the symptoms to my own in 2018 when first I had self defense training and we used boxing gloves, but my training partner still managed to hit me extremely hard on the head by accident and got me a concussion (commotio cerebri, grade 1 head trauma) with everything that comes with it, confusion, dizziness, nausea, loss of hearing and sight, headache and momentary memory loss, and then going to a protest where we encountered police violence, after which I was at least pale white and shaking but not in a degree 1 state of actual shock. how to concoct memorization images step one :)

I was all in for the end of this book, the twists feeling a bit chaotic but entertaining and reasonable, until the conclusion was a cop shooting an unarmed teenager holding a broken walkie-talkie. The text says she was "acting on instinct." The author is British, sure, but fuck almighty they have the news in the UK. They know what's been happening in the US. This narrative choice is irredeemable, no matter how many times the author had the officer say, "What have I done?" after the fact. You don't get to co-opt real struggles of Black Americans to make a big bombastic pop for the end of your novel. And you sure as hell don't try to make the cop sympathetic after the fact.
I am incredibly disappointed.

I started college at age 12 and lawschool at age 16 after growing up with multiple abusive adults in my life and having faced violence at the hands of the legal system. This is not a brag in any way shape or form. Well, maybe it is a little. I am very smart and I know it. But that's not the point. The point is that I didn't get to be a kid. And the point is that my dad wanted me to be a lawyer so that I could work and support him, his partner, and my siblings.
Parent of the year.
I made being a lawyer my own thing, regardless. I have loved being a public defender.
But as I'm fighting burnout I am starting to wonder what I would have done if I'd gotten to choose.
I could do those things now. I can do those things now. I'm trying to do those things now. I just keep worrying that somehow it's going to get taken away.
