I still absolutely love how Wolfwalkers ended.

Love that it still ultimately focused on Robyn and Mebh and how they leave their old world behind to find a new one, just for them, their parents, and the wolf family to live in peace, far away from the townspeople. How after all that drama and near-death experiences, they just get to rest in the caravan, protected by their respective parent and live together in the forest.

No more societal expectations. No more gender roles. No need to appease a bunch of people who really only want them dead for what they are. No focus on these two literal children to change a town’s whole mindset like so many other films do. No, the message was just these two girls finding their happy ending with their loved ones somewhere else and just cutting out that toxic environment all together.

Why waste energy trying to help a bunch of people they don’t even have any real attachment to, after all? Especially with people who actively forced roles they didn’t want onto them and mistreated them for being different? It’s just such a breath of fresh air to see a film that ends with the characters finding happiness and peace in their own little slice of heaven, rather than wasting time, energy, and emotions on trying to change others.

Oh. Oh. Canute didn't learn this from Askeladd, he was tough this by his father figure, that to sacrifice for what you love means to incite death. That death and control are a means to an end. It wasn't Askeladd that broke and shaped him and in who's footsteps he follows, it was Ragnar's.

In some twisted way this is all for Ragnar—to sacrifice everything for what you love, which Canute claims is all of mankind—and how there are no lines he wouldn't cross for them. Because he's accepted that death is necessary for love to exist.

#*ding ding* messed up paternal relationships for the win #he's literally become his biological father in trying to emulate his surrogate one #because for Canute's father's there isn't anything they wouldn't sacrifice to save what they love #and for Thorfinn's there isn't anything they wouldn't put themselves at risk for when it comes to protecting what they love #I'm not saying that Askeladd lived his life trying to sacrifice it for just anyone for most of the time we knew him #but by the end when he realizes he's starting to get older and if he's going to achieve something he'd better start now I think his #perspective DOES change. he's lost the only sort of friend he maybe ever had. he's lost the one man he's ever admired. The world is ending #ever since returning his mother's body he's let go of everything he could genuinely care for because he hates who he is #and what he comes from so much #but now he rises to Thors's ideals his mother's dreams and the promise he can see in Canute and Thorfinn #is this just another flavor of plant brother's conflict? maybe :3 #Vinland Saga #vs #Fizzy talks #Canute #Askeladd #Thorfinn #Thors #Ragnar

All-Star in my PvZ AU!!

Jeffery Johnson -

Jeffery Johnson was born on September 21st 1980 and died on September 5th 2002, at the age of 21.

There was just something different about running across a large field with a prized possession in his hand while others ran after him, attempting to stop him.

Even as a child, Jeffery showed great interests in sports. He loved dribbling basketballs, batting baseballs, but he had a certain fondness for football.

He was top of his class, always being team captain or picked first when playing sports with his classmates.

Jeffery wasn't the brightest kid though, falling behind his peers often.

It didn't matter much. He always was very charismatic, and got what he wanted with sugarsweet words.

Even with his bad grades, his parents supported him none the less. Hoping on him getting into the NFL.

And he did, flourishing under the spotlight he seemed to find himself in.

Jeffery was gaining popularity quickly. Both for his amazing work out in the field and devilishly good looks. Admired by all, but one.

The teammate was a jealous one. He was a lot older and didn't see even a fraction of popularity Jeffery got.

When the NFL season started on the 5th of September 2002, Jeffery was excited to play his first official season. But his excitement was short lived as he was strangled by a teammate in the locker rooms.

For the first few years he was reanimated, he was brash and aggressive. He was frustrated and devastated at his life being taken from him at such a young age, when he finally started making a name for himself.

But with the help of others, he managed to become his old goofball, childish, self again.

that optimist crowley quote from the book got me thinking, because he kind of Has to be. in order for a demon's job to be necessary, you have to believe that human nature is inherently Good in order to believe it's corruptible. likewise with aziraphale and angels, you have to believe that human nature is inherently Wicked in order to believe it needs saving.

in fact, i think what makes them kind of give up on their jobs is that they're given ample opportunity for crowley to see that humans come up with wickedness all on their own and for aziraphale to see that humans do wonderfully kind things all on their own, which goes against their own inherent beliefs but fits right in with each other's.

#of course this disregards the fact that they mainly gave up on their jobs because they didn't fucking care #and were having too much fun with music and pastries and books and plants to want to change much of anything at all #anyway they're both optimists at heart but their world views from the company perspective are interesting to think about #does this make sense? i'm having fun thinking about these crazy kids #good omens #aziraphale #crowley #oxly hollers #i keep feeling bad about tagging these in the main tags i promise it's just to keep things neat on my blog
