Guys… I got a calathea…

My one plant rule was “no calatheas” but I got a calathea. Now, in all fairness, it was $3 and was on the sale table outside. So if it dies I feel like I can blame it on that

I think it is very important for you all to know that despite my semi-regular turning (taking care of plants with executive dysfunction is like... 'I'm sorry little ones I'm dehydrated too we can be dehydrated together<3')

Anuli's tree is still lopsided.

It has two main 'trunks'/branches, and they used to grow at roughly the same time and now one of them is just... so ridiculously large that it covers up the TV from that angle (but moving a fiddle leaf fig is... not recommended. My mom wanted it in another corner once and the tree - and I - threw a fit)

The tree of wobbly and leans to one side and now it's warmer so it's starting to grow leaves again... ON ONE SiDE.

I don't even know what to say other than... that's Anuli's tree for sure.

Best thing about having an unheated room in my flat is that i can keep as many of these as i want

Went to the store for a hammer and nails, retuened with these 5 beauties.

I’ve got an ongoing quest/experiment finding epiphytes suitable for zone 9a/b (low 20s F/-4 C) here’s some of the orchids from that:

First is a Sedirea japonicum flowering today. It’s a species of orchid from a broad region spanning China to Japan where it is pollinated by generalist bumblebees (Bombus spp.) so I’m hoping mine can use it too. It has a light fresh citrus-like scent.

Second are not great pics of my Encyclia tampensis var. alba from June that I still need to mount lol this is the species that got me into relatively cold hardy orchids. It’s native to much of FL (counties just south of me) and is also a generalist in terms of pollination

I also have a form of Laelia anceps (not sure of pollinator, hoping female rubies can reach it) and a Cattleya cernua (hummingbird-pollinated) but I just got those and they haven’t flowered yet.

Aside from the greenfly orchid (one wild to my area— waiting on respected source), I’m considering getting a Dendrobium moniliforme and a Vanda coerula eventually. after that I’m basically at the end of the tried and true frost hardy epiphytic orchids in commerce

Some new additions to the propagation tray!

I’m not sure what most of these are but I know I have some burros tails, gollum jade, and the big leaves in the middle might be silver dollar jade (but maybe I’m just being optimistic because that’s a wish list plant for me)
