I am 100% serious when I say I love Peatrice and Link, it might be a joke but I want what's best for Link and he deserves this cute summer fling
Peatrice is his first gentle, no strings attached love. She is shy and flirty, he is even more so. He doesn't like her at first, she's rude and bored, but when she starts saying things like "Are you here to see me?" The spark is set in his mind that... Yeah... He is going to the item check more than he needs to, and she is cute. And it blossoms from there. It's not all perfect, Peatrice says "I love you" two weeks in immediately after Link goes to the past and he has a breakdown about what love really is (he panicked and said it back—but does he really love her? Does Zelda/Hylia really love him?)
He loves Zelda, yes, but Zelda's love is pushy and rough (in a good way!!!) and takes him out of his comfort zone. Zelda's love feels conditional now, that both his best friend and his goddess will only love him if he succeeds. That doesn't mean it is, but it's different from Peatrice's totally attainable puppy love that he thinks he doesn't have to work for, all he has to do is show up at the item check and go to her house a few times. For Zelda... He has to save the entire world to be loved. (and he will, but he doesn't need to)
Maybe he had a crush on Pipit when he was younger, but Pipit will always see him as a little kid (he's only a year older but he's got a bit of a superiority complex). Skyloft's not homophobic, but it is heteronormative, and Pipit's still straight. Link's young and he doesn't want to deal with it, he's not sure what he's feeling. Pipit is sweet, but condescending, and he will always have to strive to be better in his eyes. Zelda teased him about being lazy but accepted it and planned accordingly, Pipit thinks he could do better if he just tried harder. If Link is ADHD hearing that shit hurts. Pipit thinks everyone should just be like him, and doesn't see Link's way of doing things. Pipit's attention always comes with criticism, and while that sometimes helps him, it's not a good basis for a relationship.
And whatever he has with Ghirahim is not love and is nothing like it. If Zelda's love is rough and pushy, Ghirahim's is violent and possessive and toxic and he doesn't want it, but it's a distraction. He's always a second, third, fourth thought, he's a sidenote and an annoyance and an obstacle. Peatrice and Ghirahim are both distractions and/or coping mechanisms, but Peatrice is like excessive and empty self care that does nothing. Ghirahim is self harm. (I'm ghiralink trash so yeah that changes post game but in game let them be a dysfunctional toxic mess. They have to really be enemies first in order for there to be enemies to lovers)
Peatrice's love is too good to be true, but love isn't perfectly gentle and sweet and romantic all the time. It doesn't last, because Peatrice never really liked him, she liked the idea of a secret boyfriend, and as soon as it's not a secret she starts losing feelings (she didn't do it on purpose, she kind of fell for the first guy that showed her any attention—one way of thinking about this is they're both just gay and didn't realize it)
Peatrice and Link is GOOD it's not an OTP or whatever but it's very interesting to think about

The world needs more Piplink

They meetin one of the last days of summer, somewhat excited for the autumn harvestingthat is to begin. With the golden leaves and incredible quantity of pumpkin tocarry and store coming around, they know there will not be too much time formeetings, much less time to do stuff together. Even so, they hope to find agood place during the festival, where they will be able to see the Great SpiritLevias from a mere short distance away.
At the topof the waterfall by the small pool of water, they lie together under the warmsunrays, watching the clouds pass and chatting away mindlessly, the youngbrunet does his best to keep the bond awake, but there is only so much he cando to keep his eyes open for too long.
“Isn’t thisfunny?” Pipit asks, fingers twirling a dandelion. “The weather, I mean. It’salways so sunny and warm, if we are lucky the temperature drops in the winter,but not enough to get cold, just... Chilly.”
Linkshifts, the grass rustling with his movements, half-lidded eyes studying thebrunet’s face, searching for something. He says nothing, though, and picks atthe green blades between their bodies to occupy his hand.
“Winterdoesn’t feel like winter,” the taller muses with a slight humorous tone to hisvoice.
Beside him,Link chuckles and turns to lie on his side, facing him, a smile on his face. “Oneday we can search for a cold island somewhere.”
A browneyebrow arches. “It surprises me that you’re suggesting such thing.”
He shrugswith a twist of his lips. “There’s nothing that packed lunches and a sleepingbag can’t fix.”
Pipitlaughs heartily – if only it were that easy! – and opens his arm invitingly,which prompts Link to inch closer and curl by his side. “Alright. After this harvesting season, then. I’m thinkingFledge would like to tag along.”
“I washoping we could go alone?” The blond immediately speaks up, blue eyes peeringup into ones of a lighter shade. He looks surprised, Link notices, as if he wascaught out of guard, but Pipit, as usual, recovers quickly and smiles beforekissing the crown of his head. That is a yes.
Linksnuggles ever closer, cheek on his shoulder, Pipit blows the dandelion andwatches the seeds fly away. They do not get too far before soft snores can beheard.

Might doodle the two being awkward sometime but, just a bit of background Fic Musing that is mostly inconsequential to the flow of the story.
Basically, my lil headcanon for TMM!Link (Imposter!Link, FD!Link, etc) is that he dated Pipit prior to the events of Skyward Sword. I wanted him to be coming into the Ghiralink relationship with some previous experience.
But I imagine Piplink was probably your standard fare for late high school romance - full of missteps, a bit awkward and rushed, experimental and unsure. They broke up somewhat amicably a month or so before Link's Wing Ceremony. Now, their friendship a couple years later is still in that awkward "we dated once as teens and I think you're great but also I don't know how to interact with you yet, so we keep awkwardly waving at each other and saying 'hey you, how's it going!' 'hey! it's going!' and then the conversation quickly lulls and we both get super nervous and excuse ourselves politely" stage.
iykyk, those real Oof Vibes of growing pains, but ultimately harmless growth experiences that you look back on with fondness.

Just shut up, Diamond Pants! Chapter Two: An Important Conversation
A/N Sorry for taking so long everyone! Please go read the first chapter if you haven’t! Also I am going to start tagging each chapter with the tag #diamond pants so you can find it easier, but the first chapter is not. Thanks for reading!
Previously
“Believe me, skychild. I know it looks bad, but I just want to talk.”
“When have you ever?” Link spat out. “I seem to remember quite a bit of fighting every time we met.”
“Look- I’m not here to fight. If I was, wouldn’t I have a weapon in my hands? I simply would like to speak with you on a very important matter.”
He grew frustrated. He had tried to torture Link many times in the past, but he wouldn’t even hear him out? It’s actually quite satisfying knowing how big of an affect he’d had on the hero.
How much fear that the boy had for him.
“You see, I have a dilemma. After you defeated me, I ran off to heal my wounds. While I was pondering how best to get my revenge, I found myself pulled through time to fight in a war several thousand years in the future.”
He smiled at the skychild’s surprised expression. “W-what? You’re just trying to distract me!”
“I am not. After the end of the war, I found myself reevaluating my situation. And I found something very misplaced. A very powerful feeling. As you know, I am the counterpart to your precious master sword.”
Link growled. “Get to the point, Ghirahim.” It would have struck fear, only one could clearly see the indecisiveness and hopelessness in his eyes.
Ghirahim laughed. “That is the point, skychild. I should not be having these reactions, yet I am. I believe it to be because of my lack of a master, and lack of use. Because I am the dark version of Fi, every time she is used I must be used. And so, I should wish you to kill a living animal with my sword, thus completing our bond together as sword and wielder. Then you will use me as a sword to even out the balance.”
Link still appeared surprised. “You want to be my sword? No! I don’t want you around me!”
“Fi will be useless if I am left alone, so why not?”
“For good reason!”
“Now, now, don’t get all fired up, Master.”
Link’s fear turned to anger.
“Don’t. Call me that. Ever again.”
Ghirahim picked his nails lazily. “I am under no obligation to follow your orders, nor will I be until I am under your command. Unless you think you have a better option, Master?”
Link straightened. “Actually I do.” He turned, walking towards the town center. “I will not bond with you, but I am sure I know someone who might.”
Ghirahim rushed to follow, eager to see what Link had in mind.

oh no im writing fanfiction again
unfortunately the loz community on wattpad is not very large, so i’m hoping posting my story here will get a few more zelda fans’ attention. anyway, stay tuned for a pipit centric and ghirahim centric story with a little bit of added linked universe because i have no impulse control. hopefully i’ll figure out how to post it without having to rewrite every single sentence from my google doc.
