FUSHIGURO MEGUMI is in love with you.

dusk is filled with golden rays and city lights. you walk side-by-side with megumi in a comfortable silence. these quiet moments with you had always been rare but cherished moments - a small amount of time when you both could finally breathe.

years of fighting curses had taken its toll on you. with death always just one wrong move away, megumi had grown accustomed to cherishing the little moments with you: when you made him coffee in the morning before he woke up; when you waited at his bedside after he was injured in a fight; when you forcefully put some of your food on his plate after noticing that he wasn’t eating enough.

megumi had never grown up with a view of a real romantic relationship - all of his experience came from side plots in manga and being dragged into watching movies with yuuji - but he was smart enough to realize why his heart beat so fast around you. why he blushed so easily when your hand brushed against his. why he desperately wanted more.

megumi stops when you pause in your steps, stretching out your shoulders. a content sigh escapes you as you look out towards the shore. “the sunset is beautiful, isn’t it?” you say, your eyes trained on the hues of pink and blue filling the sky.

megumi glances at the skyline, only taking in the sight momentarily before he turns back to you. all the beautiful things he’s heard about “golden hour” seem to come true. the sun peeks out from behind various buildings, illuminating your silhouette. you softly smile as you look up at the clouds above.

“yeah,” he smiles; his gaze remains trained on you. “beautiful.”

fushiguro megumi is in love with you. now, he just has to tell you.

ITADORI YUUJI is - surprisingly - not a bad cook. over his months at jujutsu high, he had become the unofficial chef in the dorms. so when you fell ill, it was no surprise when he took on the responsibility of nursing you back to health.

your body is little more than a mound of blankets when yuuji creeps into your room; a bowl of steaming soup in his hands. he moves with the utmost care as he makes his way across the room before setting the bowl down on your bedside table. despite your puffy eyes and red-tipped nose he smiles, reaching up to push a stray strand of hair away from your face.

you stir awake at his touch before slowly blinking up at him. “hi y/n,” yuuji whispers. “feeling any better?”

he receives a groan in response. “i feel like death,” you rasp out.

yuuji reaches over, resting the back of his hand against your forehead. “you’re still really warm,” he mumbles. “i don’t think your fever has gone down at all.”

his cheeks flush slightly when you reach over, taking his hand into your own. your skin is overly warm and slightly clammy, but yuuji doesn’t mind. instead, he intertwines your hands together.

“here,” he says, using his free hand to hold up a spoonful of the soup he made. “try it. maybe it’ll make you feel better.”

the metal spoon burns your tongue and the broth is a little too salty, but it soothes your throat all the same. “thank you,” you murmur. “it’s delicious.”

yuuji simply smiles brightly, holding out yet another spoonful for you. “of course.”

“do you know japanese sign language?”

INUMAKI TOGE stares at you with wide eyes, surprised by your sudden question. it shouldn’t have been all that surprising, but it was something no one had bothered to ask before.

finally, after a short period of silence, he nods. “salmon.”

toge had grown accustomed to being left out. even while around the most supportive people, he often found himself struggling to be heard - both literally and metaphorically. after all, it was difficult to communicate with others through origini ingredients.

that didn’t make it any less hurtful, though.

you smile brightly, hesitantly signing along to your words as you speak. “i’ve been practicing a little. i wanted to surprise you.”

toge’s face flushes; his jacket does little to hide the way his blush spreads across his cheeks and up to the tips of his ears. your movements are a little sloppy and you’re clearly nervous, but he doesn’t comment on it. no one had ever put in this much effort to speak to him before. to not only listen, but understand what he means.

“thank you,” he signs in return. he pauses for a second, hesitating slightly before he continues. “i love you.”

“i don’t think i know that one.” toge simply smiles, leaning in to pull you into a kiss. he’ll tell you what it means soon enough. but for now, his flushed cheeks and soft smile tell you everything he means to say.

the safest place in the world is within OKKOTSU YUUTA’S arms. you can’t remember when it became a routine for the two of you. he would return home and immediately seek you out; his fingers curl around your waist and tug you closer until your back reaches his chest.

a soft sigh escapes his lips as he rests his chin against your shoulder. the pieces of your bodies fit together like a puzzle - from the way yuuta intertwines his fingers with your own to how seamlessly his arms wrap around you.

messy strands of ink black hair brush against the side of your neck when yuuta nuzzles himself even closer against you. his breath ghosts against your shoulder as he leans down, pressing a few lazy kisses over the fabric of your shirt. “i missed you.”

“i missed you, too.” your fingertips trace along little cuts and deep bruises decorating yuuta’s hands. “do they hurt?”

he catches his bottom lip between his teeth. it feels trivial to be in pain over such minor injuries, but yuuta has never been the best liar. “only a little,” he murmurs.

you frown slightly, raising your intertwined hands up to your lips. the soft kisses you press against the fresh wounds leave him breathless. with a flushed face and a soft smile, yuuta presses a chaste kiss against your cheek in return. “thank you.”

Finally time to reveal the book I made for @nagisachan1, who very generously donated to @fandomtrumpshate in their Craft Bazaar to receive a copy of Come and Go by charactershoes.

Long design and making-of blather under the cut.

Alright let's talk about the design process. The fic is a Dear Evan Hanson fic, which is a fandom I'm only passingly familiar with, but after reading it, I 100% understand why it would be meaningful to someone. It's really a fantastic story.

I initially asked Nagisachan for theme/design ideas and they mentioned trees and a bouncing pink superball. And yeah, once I read the fic, trees, leaves, and the bouncing ball remain the biggest images of it. So I began looking for images to use and decided I wanted to evoke a hand-drawn/doodle style, which felt really appropriate to the high school setting. So all the chapter headings feature different doodles, hopefully relevant to that chapter in some way (or, if I was at a loss, I defaulted to trees and leaves.)

The bouncing ball is tied to one character so I edited a drawing I found so that the ball's bouncing progresses in the header of each chapter that character appears in.

I also chose fonts/Drop caps that evoked the hand-drawn and tree imagery. Overall I'm VERY happy with the typeset after all the work I put into it.

On to the case. I originally planned to build a case evoking a tree, with a brown spine and green covers, and ordered two Japanese textured bookcloths. I intended to draw tree branches and leaves with my heat foil quill pen, as well as doing the titling.

However, I found that this textured and part poly cloth didn't take the foil very well. My first attempt at a tree was pretty messed up and when I tried to add leaves in gold foil, it only made it look worse.

So I started over. I used solid green for the whole case because the two-color design wasn't working the way I wanted. And I decided to keep the decoration as simple as possible by just outlining the tree branches in foil. It doesn't show very much anymore, and definitely not in the photos, but the tree outline is foiled in an orange holographic foil. Once I had the outline done, I at first considered myself done, but later decided I wasn't satisfied with just the outline.

So I tested several colors of paint and went with a metallic brown acrylic and handpainted in the tree. I'm not sure about the final effect, but I think given my material constraints it's not bad. The titling on the spine I did in gold foil, which is my best quality foil, but even so it's not as clean as it would be on different material.

So anyway, that's my making-of ramble. Thank you again @nagisachan1 for your donation to Never Again Action.

I definitely want to do this again for charity, but I'm not sure exactly when. Perhaps not until next year's FTH.

Ugh, another morning on tumblr... Decided to unfollow someone because I don’t like being preached at. Well, they weren’t preaching at me and it wasn’t even their post, they were just reblogging someone whom I thought was a little overblown. It’s not that I didn’t think they had a good point, but the comments, man, the comments.... I don’t know, it’s just that sometimes when people really get into virtue signaling, it makes me want to “be evil.” Like, you waggle your fingers and tell people not to do something and I’m like “Okay, dead baby jokes, comin’ up!” So, the nag was about how horrible it was that people were drawing Barbenheimer art - pink mushroom clouds and stuff because of the horrors of the dropping of the atomic bombs. Yeah, the point of that stuff IS actually minimizing the horror because sometimes you have to minimize the horrors of the world to get through it - it’s about the juxtaposition. Is it tactless? Perhaps. Someone on the comments compared it to making Holocaust jokes. Personally, I’m not so sure if it really is the same because I tend to think it makes fun of America’s war-machine as much as anything and the pervasive nuclear-fear we all have. Once these things had been unleashed on the world and various nations built them up, we’ve all lived in fear of them so I tend to think that this pretending that Barbie has become death, destroyer of worlds isn’t punching down on the victims but a release valve for a universal fear. That’s just my take on it. And of course someone in the comments talked about how they’re on a campaign to stop people from having ANY mushroom cloud art at all. Pheh. Forgot to get their name and block them. They shouldn’t be coming around my profile - because... that’s kind of my profile-header? I drew it in Illustrator to go with my Kitten. It’s my entire handle here. Is it because I “hate the Japanese” or “the minorities in proximity to the Trinity test site” or the Bikini atol? Fuck no. I chose my handle and theme long before Oppenheimer was ever announced (or being made?) and long before this Barbenhemier bullshit. I chose it after an old blog I had that was dedicated to my writing and since I liked writing a lot of apocalyptic / post-apocalyptic stories I went with something in that family of imagery. Specifically, the idea of “apocalypse kitten” comes from the trope of the “Post-Apocalyptic Dog” that follows a protagonist in these kinds of stories. I thought “If I were living after everything went to shit, maybe I’d like a cat.” I also have a short story that I wrote many years ago featuring a lone human in a deserted city (nukes had nothing to do with it, it was more of a supernatural situation) and her post-apocalypse companion was a kitten. My imagery was inspired by the Neighborhood Nuclear Superiority bit in Mike Nesmith’s “Elephant Parts” (making fun of suburbia and American-anger) and probably a bit by the Fallout game series, which I am a fan of. Yeah, person who wants to ban all art of mushroom clouds everywhere, good luck running up against he legions of fans of that video game series. *Rolls eyes.* I am not into the Barbenheimer thing, although I am hoping to see Barbie someday. I’m not doing fanart for it or anything.... so don’t come after me on that account. I’m just saying that sometimes something ISN’T meant to demean the victims and actually is more making fun of the aggressors or using dark humor to deal with a collective fear. And sometimes nagging people about it will make them want to do it more. There’s woke, and then there’s “lay off the cocaine and trucker’s pills.”

A blog just followed me and I thought it had an icon of one of the blonde twins from the old Bratz cartoon and I got psyched so I went to look and the blog was completely empty. For whatever reason it took the time to remove the on-by-default header brick image, even. And I was like "oh OK so is this icon generated bc now I can see this is not some oldschool fan whose interests include the 00's Bratz dolls animated TV show" and it was AI generated. And I cannot explain the uncanny valley feeling I had when I enlarged it to look. It had pink palm trees in the back but a generated face of a Japanese woman in a kimono but the kimono was skewed off a bit, so it was paper-doll-like and then I looked at her eyes and felt this horrible wave of Unsafe Dread and had to close and report the blog immediately. It was so weird. That icon was worse for me than the old creepypasta smiling dog. What the fuck is up with AI icons and feeling like they're going to kill you for looking at them
