me: so anyway philip is on so many levels of freudian repression and regression that’s he’s stayed obsessed with the games of his youth and the brother he idolized, so much so that he cloned him dozens of times over hundreds of years in the hopes of creating a brother that would be completely dedicated to him. he deluded himself into believing that killing his brother was a “mercy” but seems on some level to know that isn’t true considering his reaction upon being forced to relive it. it’s also interesting to note that creating the first grimwalker was one of his worst memories, which indicates that on some level he does know that he’s desecrating both his brother’s memory and his body by making countless facsimiles of him. i feel like his ideal ending would have been his lies finally collapsing in on him and having to confront the fact that everything he’s done has been completely meaningless and he alone is responsible for the death of the one person who ever really cared about him.
