spoilers under cut for spiderman 2 for ps5
I HATE HOW SYMBIOTES ARE PURE EVIL THIS IS BULLSHIT JUST LIKE MSM 2017 SHOW THIS IS BAD FAITH, BAD. BAD BULLSHIT THEY ARE NOT EVIL FUCK YOU ENTIRELY
booooo no eddie brock
at least harry didnt die. i was worried they were gonna kill him but thank god not. tho he is in a coma :(
antivenom cool hehe
otto at the end: "shove it up your ugly ass, you heard me, shove it up. your ugly ass i aint tell you shit fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you." honestly? good for him ehheheh
mysterio!!! looks and sounds like Phantasm mysterio! yeee! tho a bit more... deranged. and too basic white bread looking he needs his scowl and dark hair cut shhhhh but his costume is on point!
BECKY REDEMPTION RAAAAAAAAAAAHHH LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Betsy being the one to pull becky's strings works so fucking good ooohhh my godddd they wanted to capitalize off of his work and they were the only ones who appreciated him OUGHGH
like he loved them and they loved him but that loved turned to poison and led to this i fucking LOVE IT RAAAAAAH
the scream fight was good. i loved pete and mj talking it out through the fight, that was the heart and soul of it ehhe. still hate that all symbiotes are evil ffs
so what i gather from this is that venom is the envoy of knull bc of the symbol everywhere and his arrival to earth on the meteor and all. like he seems to be able to control symbiote matter and other symbiotes at will like the core of the hive. so. i guess it's an evil knull-ified venom. msm 2017 was also an evil venom but that was his own choice? knull already peaced out billions of years ago, it was betrayal that made venom from their old hatred of being torn from their hosts so. blegh
this venom is like if movie venom stayed with riot to conquer the earth. and had hive powers/wasnt cut off from the hive like he was in the comics when he first showed up in og secret wars.
also also?????? why not let the earth become a symbiote hive???? i dont see a downside here guys gimme one.
(seemed kinda like the darkhold/some dark magic with how they all turn to dust as soon as the meteor core is destroyed. or that really is the heart of klyntar/knull. anyways. blegh. no goos anymore im sad.)
like i am being serious. klyntar /would/ heal the earth. we could get a lot of shit done if we cleared our heads and stopped fighting all the fucking time jesus. we could become so great together I AM SERIOUS. i wanna be a klyntar host so BAD. i am 100% straight faced balls deep serious about this.

Oooooookay a bit to unpack here.
First of all let’s get something crystal clear. This is not truly confirmed beyond doubt just yet and sources are conflicted over what this stand off is even about. From what I’ve encountered it’s about Disney and Sony going in 50/50 which was not the arrangement in earlier films (I think Sony got all or the lion’s share, at least on the solo Spidey movies). Other sources say it was just a credit issue.
I’m inclined towards the former.
IF it is true this would mean there will be another unresolved MCU movie subplot, like with Incredible Hulk, but much more substantial. Now the good news about that is that it isn’t something that the MCU in general hinged on. Like the cliffhanger affected Spider-Man and his cast and no one else. I mean arguably Happy and Pepper, but the former was essentially absorbed into the Spider-Man cast and the latter was more than likely retired after Endgame. It will be the SECOND iteration of Spidey on film though to end with an unresolved plotline (Spidey media has a habit of this, remember the end of Spider-Man 1994 or Spec Spidey?).
Allegedly according to this article 2 more Spidey movies were in development with Watts involved with at least one of those. Speculating here but possibly they might’ve been pulling an Infinity War/Endgame thing. That would actually have been a storywise good way to have given weight to the ramifications of Peter’s identity being exposed before it (very likely) would’ve gone back into the bag, and it would’ve allowed a lot of space for a potential Sinister Six storyline. After all if you go by the MCU technically there are 6 Spidey villains around already (Vulture, Scorpion, Shocker, Tinkerer, Mysterio and Chameleon). But you’d need to give Scorpion and Chameleon powers, reintroduce the other guys and let’s be honest they would never use Tinkerer seriously, they’d sub him for another more formidable foe like Doc Ock or Kraven or someone like that.
We do not know the specifics of the original Disney/Sony deal nor what was on the cards for this one, so it’s not impossible (but I’d guess highly likely) that the ending of their relationship also means Marvel wouldn’t get to use other Spider-Man characters in other movies. So that Norman Osborn showing up in a Dark Avengers movie that was very likely on the cards? That’s very unlikely to happen now if the break up is real.
As for my own views...I regard this as at worst a lesser evil.
I’m no fan of the Marc Webb movies and they dealt damage to the brand and to the character on film in general. But the worst thing they did was lead to the Marvel/Sony deal which, whilst technically helping out public opinion on Spider-Man, damaged the integrity of the character and mythos yet more.
I don’t need to go into details for you (just read my Homecoming and Far From Home reviews) but suffice it to say that the MCU adapted Spider-Man in the most insultingly superficial of ways.
MCU Spider-Man looked like comic book Peter Parker, had a costume heavily resembling his, had his powers, lived in Queens, went to a school with ‘Midtown’ in it’s name, had an aunt named May, a love interest called Liz Allan, another love interest nicknamed ‘MJ’, was a member of the Avengers and had a father-son relationship with Iron Man/Tony Stark who gave him a high tech suit.
And with absolutely 0 hyperbole, that is where the similarities end. Even then the similarities are very much in the letter not the spirit. The nature of Peter’s Avengers membership, what it meant to him, how he got it and so on was fundamentally different. The nature of his relationship with Iron Man (which was idiotic in the comics too btw) was fundamentally different. I could go on but you get the picture.
It is a version of Spider-Man is utterly devoid of the substance that defines the character, so utterly missing the point  in fact that he literally could be an original character if you changed those superficial details and lose next to nothing storywise.
I give the Webb movies a lot of shit, and it is not unearned, but although they were problematic Spider-Man movies...at least they WERE Spider-Man movies. Not movies effectively pretending  to be about Spider-Man rather than Iron Man Junior.
Of course this opens up a debate about what is more important, being a respectful adaptation or a just a generally good movie regardless of fealty to the source material.
Frankly that’s a talk for another day.
But what’s most important to my personal enjoyment  of these movies is most definitely the former over the latter.
Don’t get it twisted, I want BOTH. I’ve seen Spider-Man 2002 and Spider-Man 2 too many times to count, whilst I’ve seen Spider-Man 3 maybe 4 times, ASM 2012 maybe 3 times and ASM2 like twice, I wouldn’t even bother to watch it on Netflix.
And I’m not calling any of them perfect adaptations, but Jesus Christ they got more right than the MCU films ever did. At least Raimi and Webb were presenting interpretations of Peter Parker rather than an hybrid abomination of Miles Morales/Robin/Ultimate cartoon Peter Parker/Ultimate Comics Peter Parker/616Peter Parker (in that order).
For the record I REJECT the notion that making a respectful adaptation or a good movie are mutually exclusive. Spider-Man 2002 and Spider-Man 2 were both. Batman Mask of the Phantasm, Batman Begins and the Dark Knight were both. Superman 1978 and Superman II were both. Captain America the First Avenger, Winter Soldier, Civil War and Avengers 2012 were both.
I has been done and it can be done.
My high ball hopes for this is that Sony will look to Lord and Miller’s fine work and take notes.
Low ball hopes, more movies of at least Webb’s quality.
P.S. The fact that Watts was involved with MCU Spidey 3 fills me with dread. If that movie is dead then thank God.
P.P.S.

Mysterion
Tumblr media
“Mysterio” © Matt DeMino. Accessed at his deviantArt page here
[Commissioned by @menaceomysterio, who wanted a monster inspired by their namesake Spider-man villain. I made it undead because of the frequent skull motif that turns up in Mysterio’s dome-head, plus an undead illusionist seemed like a cool idea. The fact that the original Mysterio had a story arc where he died and came back from Hell was gravy.]
Mysterion This humanoid creature appears to be clad in a heavy leather bodysuit, its head obscured by a dome. Mist pours from its body, and glimpses of a skull can be seen through its helmet.
The mysterion is the remains of a dead dreamer, a soul lost forever to the Dimension of Dream and driven mad by the wonders and terrors of that far plane. If a dreamer is killed in their dream by a powerful nightmare entity, it may die in its sleep and be reborn as a mysterion. These creatures seek to blur the line between illusion and reality for as many others as possible, casting them into fantastical visions in order to delight in their confusion, fear and torment. Although some mysterions are greedy creatures that bewitch creatures in order to rob them, others are murderous monsters that seek to turn friends into enemies and drive the innocent to madness. They are only rarely glimpsed in their true form, as they cloak their bodies in both mundane and magical disguises.
A mysterion continuously leaks mist that acts as a potent mind-altering drug, softening the wills of creatures and making them more susceptible to its charms and illusions. The creature usually complements this with clouds of magical fog, which it can see through with ease. Although most mysterions prefer to have their enemies kill each other, they will resort to direct combat if they must, making powerful sucker punches with their fists. Only rarely will a mysterion fight to the death—they are typically quick to flee using their spell-like abilities.
Under their clothing and disguises, a mysterion is little more than a skeleton, their bodies long having rotted away. They are light for their size, weighing barely 100 pounds.

Quentin didn’t not mind her calling him that.
Now, other people? That was a different story. He would tell them again and again that he was done with that life. That Mysterio was behind him. It really wasn’t, but he had to keep reassuring the public, now didn’t he?
Beck’s own child, however? Could call him whatever they pleased.
Tumblr media
He chuckled.
“Alrighty, kiddo. What kind of story do you want spooky ol’ Mysty to tell? Do you want to me to wear the costume and do the voice?”
Beck would do that just for her. It would be the first time he’d worn it since going to jail. He’d never wear it outside the house, and he’d make sure the blinds were closed, but if it was for his daughter’s smile, Quentin would do anything.
Even the Phantasmal.
“I can see the costume? Really?” She asked excited, “Yes please!”
The little girl bounced with excitement, “Tell me a fairy tale! Please?”
Miranda however was a little worried. Not with the costume and story bit but she needed her daughter to call him ‘Dad’ outside of the house. Still the woman wouldn’t ruin their moment but she would have a talk with Francis the next time they went out.

Shit I Hate #1: Killing Villains
I love movies. I love superhero movies in particular. These statements should be no surprise to anyone. But like everything I love, these things have a lot of elements that just grind my gears, so I’m making an infrequent series for me to detail my issues in depth. And what better issue to start with than one of my biggest pet peeves with the superhero genre: killing the villain.
Now, comic books have always had wonderful rogues galleries full of insane and creative foes for the heroes to fight; sure, Spider-Man is interesting on his own, but he’s even better when you set him up against someone like Green Goblin, Mysterio, Venom, or Kraven the Hunter. Heroes are only as cool as the villains they fight, basically. And comic book movies have always done a great job of bringing villains to the screen, be they obscure or beloved… the problem is, by film’s end, these villains are typically dead.
Now, this pisses me off for a great many reasons, the chief among them that killing off the rogues gallery tends to spit in the face of the comics; sure, people like Norman Osborn have died before, so him dying is perfectly fine, but when you kill characters like Doctor Octopus, Ronan the Accuser, and the fucking Joker of all people, there’s a big problem. This almost always leads to cases where villains who could have been interesting recurring foes get totally shafted as a best-case scenario (which is the case with characters like Ronan, Joker, Penguin in Batman Returns, Ultron, and so on), or worst case a villain who was boring or poorly developed is not allowed to improve since they are now dad, with Malekith being the worst offender in this regard.
Now, to show you how widespread this issue is, I’m going back to the big kickstarter of this trend, Tim Burton’s Batman, and showing all the major superhero films that did this between then and today. Obviously I’m only going to focus on films that kill a major rogue of one of the main hero.
Batman: Jack Nicholson’s Joker is killed off
Dick Tracy: Almost every antagonistic force in the film is dead by the end.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder dies at the end. I believe this keeps in line with the original comics, but at this point in the franchise Shredder was an established archenemy; it’s a very weird case.
Batman Returns: Penguin and Catwoman are both dead at film’s end, though Catwoman is ambiguous… though she may as well have been dead for all the later appearances she made.
Mask of the Phantasm: One of the few animated films that sort of fall into this, Joker’s fate is rather ambiguous. While he still shows up in the series, this movie almost seems like it’s in its own canon. Again, very weird case.
Batman Forever: Two-Face falls to his death, though Riddler lives; he’s totally insane at this point but it’s still something.
Batman & Robin: As more evidence that this isn’t a terrible movie, none of the major villains die; Ivy and Freeze are both alive and locked up by film’s end, as Batman would do in the comics. Hell, Clooney’s Batman is the only Batman that has not in any way been responsible for the death of one of his foes in some way.
Return of the Joker: Batman’s biggest foe comes back only to be completely erased forever. He dies twice over the course of this film.
X-Men: Magneto is one of the biggest names to avoid this, as he has consistently survived every movie he’s in. Toad and Sabretooth are not quite so lucky here.
Spider-Man: Green Goblin dies, though at least this is in line with the comics and he does impact the whole trilogy. Still counts though, as he was a major antagonist for a long while before his first ‘death.’
Daredevil: This one actually has both Kingpin and Bullseye live; in fact, it is one of the heroes, Elektra, who dies.
X2: X-Men United: Stryker does die in this, as does Lady Deathstrike.
Hellboy: Rasputin dies.
The Punisher: I really shouldn’t have to even list this, because with a guy like Punisher, no villain is coming out alive. This goes for War Zone later on down the line.
Spider-Man 2: Doc Ock is dead by film’s end. At least he didn’t posses Peter’s body.
Batman Begins: While Scarecrow is a notable aversion as he cameos in the following two films, the one DC villain best known for being immortal, Ra’s al-Ghul, dies at the end.
Superman Returns: Proving yet again that this film, while flawed, has the heart and spirit of
Superman right, Lex does not die in this film.
Fantastic Four: Doctor Doom doesn’t die, surprisingly.
X-Men: The Last Stand: Phoenix gets snikt’d by the end. Magneto, however, gets away.
Spider-Man 3: 2 out of 3 villains die, with only Sandman surviving; Venom and Harry Osborn are both dead at film’s end.
Ghost Rider: Blackheart dies, and I’m pretty sure a powerful demon like that doesn’t just die in the comics.
The Dark Knight: In a depressing twist, Joker lives, but Heath Ledger did not. Two-Face plays this straight yet again, dying with very little time to shine.
Iron Man: Interestingly, Iron Monger was originally going to be hinted to have lived. Perhaps he did, but right now everything points to dead.
The Incredible Hulk: Depressingly, every villain lives, but due to issues with distribution rights for Hulk, none of their plotlines have been followed up, meaning Abomination and Leader are in cinematic limbo.
The Spirit: The Octopus dies, which is the least of this film’s problems.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine: Deadpool dies, which is bad enough.
Iron Man 2: Whiplash is dead, but Justin Hammer is in jail. Yay. The lame villain lives.
Captain America: The First Avenger: Red Skull is maybe dead… though it’s not only ambiguous, but highly probable he’s still out there. For now, he’s presumed dead.
Thor: Loki is another notable aversion; he still hasn’t died after appearing in three major films.
X-Men: First Class: Not only does Sebastian Shaw die, but every single villain dies offscreen between this film and the next, which includes Emma Frost and Azazel.
The Amazing Spider-Man: The only thing this movie does right is letting the villain live.
The Avengers: Loki lives, as stated above.
The Dark Knight Rises: Bane and Talia are both dead by the end of the movie.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance: Blackout dies.
Iron Man 3: The Fake Mandarin dies.
Man of Steel: As is well known by now, Superman snaps Zod’s neck, and Zod’s pals don’t fare any better.
Thor: The Dark World: Malekith dies, wasting any potential he may have had.
The Wolverine: Viper and the Silver Samurai both die.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2: In this not-so-amazing sequel, Electro maybe dies. Goblin and Rhino live, however.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier: Arnim Zola may or may not be gone for good; it’s pretty likely he’s still out there, but again, gotta presume him dead. Pierce is definitely dead.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Ronan the Accuser dies.
X-Men: Days of Future Past: Trask doesn’t die, yet another reason this movie is amazing.
Ant-Man: Yellowjacket dies at the end.
Shitastic Fuck: In this turd, Gimp Doom dies.
Avengers: Age of Ultron: Ultron is killed in an ambiguous fashion. Klaw, however, is ok, if down by a hand. Strucker on the other hand… dead. And so is Quicksilver.
Deadpool: Ajax is dead.
Doctor Strange: Kaecilius is probably dead.
Batman v Superman: Luthor is sadly not dead, but Doomsday and KGBeast a re.
Suicide Squad: Enchantress gets killed in the end.
Captain America: Civil War: Zemo is thankfully alive at the end.
X-Men: Apocalypse: Apocalypse is blown apart in the end.
A LOT of these villains are dead, or if not, they never amount to anything ever again. It pisses me off that studios refuse to continuously utilize beloved foes, especially when it ends up going against a heroes code by letting the villain die or killing them themselves. It’s a trend I really hope dies off soon (ha ha).

epilogue notes for neo mysterio
spoilers under cut i guess lol
also for neo mysterio, ock's master plan is to rat out a ton of crime organizations, literally cure cancer, and a whole bunch of other good advancements to clear their names while bypassing the red tape in the research field, then they all basically kinda retire? that's why beck and the others are all there, they all get a second chance and get their issues fixed. like max gets cured of his powers and such and they get official pardons from the gov for their good deeds and are left alone. humanitarians, deep down, ock was never evil?
also in an au or smth for neo he marries ock and they have francis as a daughter after they retire
and phantasm maybe marries miranda wilson from the 90's spiderman show
was thinking neo was a single dad for a while bc he's ace and wasnt sure of his feelings for otto for a long ass time, not really ready to marry and shit, and otto is super patient with him and validates whatever he chooses. like otto was a donor so francis is like in elementary/middle school when beck finally chooses to marry.
oh yeah neo does become and avenger and friends with parker deadass later in life after being pardoned.
also excerpt of their redemption: “News broadcast helicopters captured Otto beating the shit out of Red Skull, while MODOK was defeated by Hydro Man, Sandman, and Rhino. The Mandarin was KOed by the Winter Guard unexpectedly (seems the Six played nice with them after Beck’s run in), and Kingpin got ousted by Boomerang, Speed Demon, and Vulture, while the Owl was nearly killed by Chameleon. Mr. Negative was apprehended by Spider-Man, but not after being put through the ringer by Electro. Doom announced he would open treaties and negotiations with the UN and Wakanda done in exchange for better trading deals facilitated likely by the Six in countries of interest. Symkaria likewise announced a truce with Latveria as both nations began to demilitarize. The real kicker was what was uploaded online and sent to nations around the world. By Otto Octavius, a retro virus that attacks cancer cells with a 99.98% success rate. As well as cures or brand new treatments for nasty diseases such as Ebola, Rabies, strains of tuberculosis, Alzheimer’s, Malaria, diabetes therapy, MS, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and a whole laundry list of ailments. Not all were cures, but rather ways of treating or greatly lessening symptoms. He was good, but not exactly a miracle man. All of the chemical formulas and methods of manufacture were out there for the world to see and have, keeping medicine prices low as no one could patent this information and claim it as their own. This list also included designs and samples of brand new medical equipment that could make imaging and surgery that much more precise and safe. New advances in agriculture to help reduce the strain of hunger in the world were also released. It was not perfect, but certainly far better than what they currently had. Many helpful inventions from recyclers to high density solar generators, you name it, Otto released it for the world to have. For free. His life’s work, put out there for the masses. Adrian Toomes had been the test subject for this new cancer killing virus. And it had worked. Alexandria Beck was also listed as a human subject. Indeed, she had been suffering from breast cancer, but now that was a thing of the past. All Ock wanted in return for capturing these villains and providing these new medical breakthroughs? All he wanted was for his crew’s records to be expunged, and if they wished, it live under new identities away from their old lives. Ock would see to it that everyone would walk away happy. A small, small price to pay for saving untold future lives. He asked for no money, no recognition, no nothing. Just to be left alone once it was over. Or perhaps…. Become an Avenger instead? Were villains that much different from heroes with this break out of vigilante justice? It was not legal, going through and blackmailing all these crooks, paying off killers and stealing and smuggling materials. For years on end in secret. But it was worth it, wasn’t it? Needless to say, the UN agreed to his deal, and the world took a sigh of relief as so many were put behind bars or vanished back into the night from whence they came. The Avengers and Fantastic Four were…. thoroughly astounded and confused as to what exactly took place. He was a good guy? Did some dirty deeds, sure, but? All of this to simply help others? They were cautious, but with no sign of the Six ever returning, they let it go as truth. For now.”
flint basically goes back to his family finally with a clear name and money/resources to treat his daughter.
adrian is retired as a grandpa and cured of his cancer and such. he had retired before and was out of the game due to his illness but he secretly was helping ock for a while.
max is cured and settles down
chameleon gets his records purged and kinda disappears but is always friends/talking to beck.
rhino gets outta his suit and goes to retire with his wife.
and yeah. even hydro man and other villains who helped get benefits but idk if they all retire. they mostly calm down at least.
