“How about this one?” you ask, bringing the sleek laptop closer to Ushijima, who was intently watching a past game on the tv. His previously glued eyes were now wholly dedicated to you as he took your device and spent some moments glancing through the webpage.

When you both began dating, it had felt unlike any other relationship you previously had. From the very moment his lips were placed on yours, you knew he’d either be your worst break up or your happily ever after.

Thankfully, it was the latter, if the beautiful ring on your left hand was of any indication.

“It’s nice but it’s a bit far from your work” he states after a minute or two.

“Yeah, a bit. But it’s really close to your gym! Plus the master bedroom is really nice” you try your best to sell the property, tired and desperate to find a place considering your current lease is ending soon. But if you knew your husband as well as you did, you knew he’d always put you first.

“But you would have a long commute, making you leave early and come home late. I wouldn’t want that”

“You’re right” you sigh, taking back your device and continuing your search for a new home.

Ushijima, to your surprise, doesn’t revert back to the match on the screen. Instead, he scoots closer to you, resting his arm around your shoulders and bringing you in. With this, you knew he wanted something.

“You know,” he starts, his deep voice grumbling through his chest and sending shivers down your spine. You never got tired of hearing him. “You could always not work. I can provide for the both of us”

You sigh again, turning your head towards him and placing a gentle hand on his cheek.

“Toshi, we’ve talked about this. You know I just can’t...quit. At least not now. I’ve worked so hard for this” you softly explained, feeling endeared by his want to take care of you. You begin rubbing soothing circles over his cheekbone.

“I understand. I just want to spend more time with you. I’m sorry y/n”

“Don’t apologize” you shift closer to him, settling your hand at the back of his neck.

“Maybe one day, when it’s your off season. I could maybe take an extended break. How does that sound to you?” his eyes gleam with this. He says nothing as he leans in and places a chaste kiss on your lips, still as full of love as the first one.

“That sounds good. I’ll hold you to it”

Friday nights became your favorite night for one main reason; it was the day your favorite anime would air it’s weekly new episode. No matter how busy or where you two were at, you and Issei made it clear that you would always watch the new episode together.

And tonight was no different, despite the two of you in different beds. You were out of town for work and couldn’t bring him along, but that would not stop you both from continuing your streak.

Setting your phone on the bed, you begin moving blankets and stacking pillows to create a comfortable spot before settling in. On your screen, it showed Issei doing the same as he laid in bed and began wrapping himself up in the blanket he ‘borrowed’ from you.

“Ready? It’s gonna start soon”

“Yeah” you say while propping your phone up on a pillow, with issei doing the same so the two of you could recreate being together as closely as possible.

The two of you spend the rest of the night watching the episode together live, chimining in every once in a while the way you usually did. Truly it had felt so natural you had forgotten the two of you were far apart.

“I miss you” you sigh once the episode is over.

“Me too,” he lets out, “but you’ll be home soon enough and next week we can watch in person together” his reassurement makes your heart yearn for him more, but you manage a nod with a small smile to accompany it.

“Good point, but i’m still going to miss you and tell you how much i miss you”

“Believe me babe, I'd much rather hug you than hug this pillow. So come home soon alright?” Needless to say, you were even more eager to get back home.

On a normal occasion, you would have loved to be out and about on this fine saturday. Malls, dinners, parties, you loved them all. However, after a long week filled with stress and way too many deadlines, you wanted nothing more than to be curled up with your boyfriend and cat.

The stars don’t always align in your favor unfortunately, which is how you found yourself at an overcrowded house party hosted by one of Kuroo’s teammates.

“You okay, kitten?” the middle blocker leans closely and yells over the thumping music.

“Yeah” you send him a half smile, “just need to get some water. I’ll be back”

Taking the moment to step away from the crowd, you make your way outside where the cool air hugged your overheated body and the stars witnessed you take a seat on the back porch steps. You’re quick to fiddle with the jade green ring that Kuroo gifted you for your one year anniversary, a nervous but reassuring habit you’ve developed since.

It wasn’t long until you heard the squeaking of the backdoors open and shut before a familiar warmth sat beside you. Instinctively, you leaned your head onto his muscular shoulder.

“Why didn’t you tell me you weren’t feeling up to it?” he mumbles, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and bringing you in.

“Cause,” you began, fiddling one again with your jewelry, “I didn’t want to be a buzzkill. Especially since you really wanted me to come with”

He lets out a deep sigh, taking in your words before his grip on you tightens ever so slightly. “Honestly, I didn’t really want to come either but I figured if I had to be here out of social obligation, you would at least make it better. And you did. But if I’m being real with you,” he gazes down at you, the stars illuminating his deep brown eyes and all the love they held for you. “All I want right now is you, me and a bed”

“Tetsu!” you bashfully exclaim as you lightly slap his bicep. “Way to ruin a moment”

“I don’t know what you were thinking about, naughty kitten” he winks, earning himself another feather-like slap. “I meant in bed with you, watching something together. Y’know, since you have the nice blankets and all '' he explains, rubbing the spot you hit in mock pain.

“I do own really nice blankets, huh?” you chuckle lightly before sitting back straight up. “How about we leave then? Since neither of us want to be here anyways”

“I would absolutely love that” he smiles before giving you a quick peck and helping you up. That night, you laid in bed with Kuroo’s favorite blanket of yours while sandwiching your cat in between. Maybe the stars did end up aligning in your favor.

Things were going downhill, and they were going down fast.

It started with a few missed spikes, followed by well timed blocks and digs from the other team until it finally resulted in bokuto stubbornly tuning out everything Akaashi said. With a heavy sigh, the setter turns to you with a knowing glance. The coach picks up these nuances and calls for a time out in the middle of the second set. Not needing anymore said to you, you stand from your manager's spot on the bench and approach the deflated ace.

“Kou, baby, you okay?” you start tenderly, squatting in front of him as he angrily drinks from his water bottle.

“No!” he gulps down his water, some still resting on the corners of his mouth.

“My volleyball skills, they’re broken today. Can’t,” he does a spike motion, “remember anything”. The rest of the team deadpans, but leaves the “broken” ace to you, his significant other and conveniently, one of the managers on the team.

Using the towel draped over your shoulder, you wipe the corners of his mouth.

“It’s alright Kou. You’ll remember soon enough”. He stays quiet as you begin to wipe the sweat off his face. With this, you take it as a sign to continue.

“You’ll remember how much fun you have when you play, how good it feels to spike and how exciting it is when you score a point and everyone cheers for you.”

“Including you?” he pouts adorably.

“Especially me” you reassure, giving him a small kiss on his now dry forehead.

“What if I don't. What if all my skills...disappeared. Then how am I supposed to be an ace”

It takes everything in you to not snort at the incredulous statement, knowing that all the hours spent practicing would never allow for him to permanently forget how to play volleyball.

“They haven’t babe, I promise, You practice way too hard to ever forget. And once it clicks for you again, it’ll feel so so good. Then afterwards we can all go out and you can have all the yakiniku you want” “All the yakiniku?” he echoes.

“Yes, all” you giggle despite the sounds of protest behind you. “But first, you gotta go back out there, okay?”

“Alright” he declares, both his hair and himself standing back up confidently. You stand back up as he places his water bottle down on the bench and turns towards you. Without warning, he places both hands on either side of your face before leaning in and placing an embarrassingly long and romantic kiss on your lips, leaving you out of breath.

“Thanks y/n. Don’t know where I’d be without you” he smiles beautifully at your bashful expression. “Now, to go win this. For you” <3

“y/n- wait, boke!!” was all you heard before veering off your usual route home, and jumping straight into the school’s unused swimming pool.

The sunset’s orange hues reflected oh so perfectly off the pristine water that you couldn’t resist the temptation, with a tired and disgruntled Kageyama in tow. Although he didn’t verbally admit it, he was tired from a long week of practice, school and just existing. So when he got off from practice a bit earlier than usual, he should’ve known better than just going straight home with you.

“Come on tobio-kun” you called once you resurfaced, tiny waves of orange, blue and yellow spared around you, making you look even more ethereal than usual -- something tobio didn’t even know was possible.

“No, we’re going to get in trouble!” the voice of reason claimed

“Come on!” you egged on, splashing some water for extra effect. “We won’t get caught if we’re quick”

“No y/n, let’s go already” the stubborn setter declared, although the light pink settled on his cheeks was not very convincing. With that, you sighed loudly before swimming to the edge and asking for a hand. Ever so clueless, your friend/crush/unofficial boyfriend held out his hand for you.

Before he knew it, the cool sensation of chlorinated water had him drenched with your joyful giggles filled the evening air.

“B-boke!” he spluttered, “why’d you do that?”

“Because tobio-kun, you just needed to relax. Dare I say, you needed to cool off” you bemused. Kageyama stared at you with wet hair covering his expression before letting out what you believed was something straight from heaven itself; a lighthearted laugh.

“That was pretty bad” he snorted, pushing his bangs out of his face.

“I know, I know” you swam closer, the sunset reflecting gorgeously on his eyes, somehow making you even more infatuated with the blue-haired boy.

“I just wanted to spend more time with you” you boldly say, your nerves getting the best of you and making you look out towards the sky. Kageyama stares silently shocked for a moment before becoming bold himself; with the everpresent blush still lingering over his cheeks, his hand searches for yours underwater before tenderly grasping it as he stares into the sky with you.

“Yeah, yeah. Could’ve just told me that instead of jumping into a whole pool”

At this point in your relationship, you know your boyfriend like the back of your hand. You know he isn’t very verbal all the time and you know he’s not one for grand gestures. And normally, you would respect his decision to want to stay home or do something lowkey rather than go on grand dates. But this was not a normal occasion, it was his birthday. After weeks of thinking on a way to take him out without alerting his suspicions, you finally figure out a plan to take him out on a date for his special day. Ignoring his reluctances and snarky remarks, you finally manage to drag him to the museum district where his snarky comments became less often and his eyes grew wider in what only you could tell was excitement. You ignore his incessant questions and drag him to a particular museum with a limited time exhibition, one you have seen him read about in magazines relatively recently. The day is spent with him admiring every aspect to the museum while you admire his carefree expressions. It’s not until he’s walking you home for the evening that he stops in his tracks and turns towards you. “Tsuki, what are you-” your words are interrupted as he leans down and places a chaste kiss on your lips. “Thank you, for today. I guess I enjoyed it'' he relents, his eyes averting direct contact with yours as his cheeks warm up in a pink hue. You gleam at him happily before reaching up and returning the favor, leaving a shocked but cute look on his face. “Glad you liked it”

Boktuo was never one to sit still and do peaceful things with you yet there he was, painting with you. Or rather you were painting on him. Despite the occasionally ticklish fidgeting, he had been the one to suggest you paint on him once he witnessed the smile on your face drop after you had gotten excited to paint with him only to not have any canvases.  That’s what led to him being before you, shirtless and aimlessly talking to you about the day he had as you hovered over his back with the paintbrush in your hand, doing your best to capture the pinks and purple hues of the sunset sky while reminding him to keep still every once in a while. While you didn’t do it purposely, your mind wandered from actively paying attention to zoning in on the details of your canvas. He truly was a work of art. “Hello? Earth to y/n?” Bokuto interrupts your admiration as he turns his head as best as he could to look back at you. “ everything okay? You stopped painting, just when it was starting to not feel ticklish and actually feel nice” he pouts, his hair deflating slightly. “Sorry Bo, didn’t mean to” you shake your head lightly as you dip your brush in paint once again. “I was just admiring you. You’re really beautiful you know” you mused, rendering him uncharacteristically speechless and flustered.

Kuroo meant a lot of things to you: he was your significant other, your partner in life. He was your roommate, and he was your best friend. But above all else, he was your impulse control. If he had a dollar for everytime he had prevented you from spending too frivolously, touching something that’s not meant to be touched or saying something regrettable in the heat of the moment, he would be able to retire early. As much as he tried his best to help you make better decisions, he every once in a while got swayed by your persistence and puppy eyes, which led to him going along with your spontaneous decisions. Tonight just happened to be one of those nights. There he was, laying in bed with you beside him, trying his best to get some rest for the day he had ahead of him when he began feeling feather light touches against his nose. Then his cheeks. Then his forehead. It wasn’t until you kept poking and prodding his nose that his eyelids reluctantly opened. “Tetsu” you loudly whispered. “what is it?” he mumbled tiredly, adjusting to the darkness of the room before settling on your expression. “I’m really craving ice cream. Like real bad. But we don’t have any” had he been just a little more awake, he would have laughed at the seriousness of your tone over something so small. “So? Kitten, it’s 1am and all the stores are closed already. I’ll buy you some tomorrow on the way home from work” he sighs before nestling back into his pillow. “The convenience store is still open” you mumble hopefully. And before he knew it, Kuroo found himself dressed in nothing but his old Nekoma track pants and a hoodie that definitely had a hole under the armpit, heading to the 24 hour convenience store with you excitedly swinging your joined hands together. The rest of the world seemed to be silently sleeping yet you were wide awake, your energy as radiant as the sun was during noon. “What flavor are ya gonna get?” you ask excitedly before answering your own question. “I bet you’re probably gonna get one of your usual flavors. Should I get my usual or should I try something new?” and once again, you set yourself off on a tangent, not even noticing the way Kuroo observed your expression morph from a content one to a genuinely happy one. Maybe your impulses weren’t always the best decisions, but every once in a while they led to a smile gracing your already perfect face. And just like you felt the need to act out on some of your impulses, Kuroo felt the need to kiss your smiling lips.

Sometimes it was hard being in a relationship with Atsumu. While you two got along so well most of the time, the few exceptional arguments always ended up a bigger deal than necessary. Nevertheless, the apologies between you two were always as loud as the offense, if not louder.

This occasion was no different. After you walked in on him not only eating your much anticipated leftovers, but also watching the new episode of your favorite anime without you, the silent treatment was the only thing you could think of that would hurt him just as much. Silly you did not think ahead, nor account for his stubbornness, and thus it led to three days of silence between you two. It wasn’t until that third day that you finally received a text from your boyfriend asking you to come over for dinner. As much as you didn’t want to cave in, you missed him more than you’d like to admit. Thus led to you arriving at his apartment once again, this time being greeted by the sound of the smoke alarm going off and several shouted profanities from a certain setter.

“y/n!” Atsumu yells as he fans the smoke away from the smoke detector. As much as you wanted to giggle and tease him for the mess he made of his kitchen, the alarm was getting to you as well, so you sensibly opened the windows and began fanning the smoke away with him.

“I promise ya this is not what i had planned. I was gonna make you an ‘i’m sorry’ dinner and there was gonna be candles and it was gonna be all romantic and-”

You pause your fanning and interrupt his rambling with a gentle hand caressing his red tinted cheeks.

“It’s fine ‘tsumu. I forgive ya”

“Really? Cause i’m like really sorry. Sorry for eating yer leftovers, for watching ahead without ya. ‘m sorry for it all” he pouts towards the end, not before slightly nuzzling his face into your hand.

“Yeah, it’s fine” you reassure, grinning at your slightly sweaty but loveable boyfriend. “I promise. Now how about we watch something? And if you’ve already seen it. No spoilers!”

No matter how terrible of a day Atsumu was having, you were always able to lift his spirits. Missed trains, wrong meal orders and late practices never stood a chance against you, the remedy to his sour mood, the elixir to all his bad days. Today, it felt like everything that could possibly go wrong, did go wrong and as much as he tried his best to prevail, his agitation with life was growing exponentially by the second. That was, until he exited the training facility for the day and spotted you waiting for him in the mint green hoodie he gifted you two Christmases ago. The scowl that he once wore instantly vanished away and was replaced with a look that could only be described as relieved. Relieved to finally be with you after this shit day. “What’re you doin’ here?” he asks as he approaches your figure. You wordlessly grab his large calloused hand and instinctively intertwine your fingers with him, sending the butterflies in his stomach into a frenzy even after so much time together. “Nothing, just missed you is all” “I bet ya did” “shut up” you roll your eyes, taking the lead and beginning your trek home together with a thankful and eager Atsumu following behind.

You and ushijima couldn’t always be together, and that was okay. Despite the strict practice schedules and long work days, you two were solid in your relationship and reading each other's mood. That’s why you couldn’t help but stare at your tall boyfriend in surprise with your mouth slightly agape as he stood at your door with your typical latte and the newest scone you were absolutely obsessed with from your favorite cafe. “F-for me?” you couldn’t help but ask, the stress and exhaustion evident in your tone. “Of course, for who else?” he asks genuinely as he lets himself into your apartment. Surprising you even more, he walks over to the coffee table with all your notebooks and papers scattered on it and sits next to where you were once planted . “You don’t have to stay if you don’t want to. I’m probably going to be up for much longer and don’t you have practice tomorrow morning?” you ask as you take a sip from your drink and plop yourself back to your previous position. “I do” he states before reaching his arm over your shoulder. “I just missed you. Is that okay?” it couldn’t be any better <3.

Kita considered himself a lucky person who had many things to be grateful for in his life. His friends, his club, and of course you. As the two of you passed time together as a couple, kita could only find more and more things to be thankful for.

One thing he was thankful for was your understanding of his routine and how he worked. There was no look of astonishment nor surprise whenever he successfully completed something he practiced everyday, only a look of pride in his ethic.

Another thing he was grateful for was your ability to read him when he most needs it. And after several long weeks of practice almost everyday, you felt he could spare you an extra moment from his usual routine.

This is what led you to all but force a fox-looking sheet face mask onto him one night when he came over after practice. Kita couldn’t help but grimace at the initial sensation of a face mask, eliciting a light giggle and “it’s not that bad!” from you. but as your delicate fingers began working away the creases in the mask, Kita slowly found his shoulders relaxing and his eyes fluttering shut.

This must be what love is he thinks to himself as you begin retelling your day to him. The soothing sound of your voice mixed with the pleasant smell from the face mask. If this wasn’t what love was then he didn’t know what was.

While Osamu may be quite the cook, baking was a whole other realm for him. Despite his lack of confidence with baking sweets, you had asked him to bake for you as you passed by an expensive bakery with the finest of sweets. “Like what?” he asks a bit tentatively, afraid you would say something complicated (because knowing him, even if he had no experience he would still do his best for you). You thankfully only shrugged, telling him it wasn’t a big deal and only just a joke. But Osamu knew you better and even if it really was just in jest, he wanted to at least try for you. And so with that, he goes to the grocery store after practice one day with a grumpy and hungry Atsumu in tow as he picks out different ingredients to make you cupcakes. In his mind, it was as simple as baking could get but being the slight perfectionist he was, especially when it came to matters regarding you, Osamu spent hours baking various batches that all ended up in either Atsumu’s stomach or being discarded to the side. It wasn’t until his fifth batch that Osamu finally felt satisfied with not only the taste but the presentation as well. The next day, which happened to be a free Saturday for him,  he arrives at your doorstep with a tray full of beautifully decorated cupcakes that somehow taste even better than they look. As tedious as it may have been, he couldn’t help but admire how cute you looked, digging into your second cupcake with baby pink icing somehow already gracing your cheek.

The two of you couldn’t be more different; your bright and bubbly personality mixed with his reserved and short-tempered one always seemed to attract the attention of others, but neither of you could care less, especially when you were in love. Kyoutani loved you for many reasons but by far his favorite thing about you was your ability to read him, especially since he was not one for many words. That’s why when you showed up to his practice after school with a bag containing his favorite protein drink and snacks, even he couldn’t help the light pink that dusted his cheeks. “Here” you nudged the bag towards your sweaty boyfriend during his break. “I saw you were kind of out of it today, I hope this gets you through the rest of the day” you smile brightly at him. As much as he wanted to relish in your beautiful expression, his eyes darted away from yours as he sent a glare towards his teasing teammates. Part of him wanted to maintain his reputation and brush you off with a simple thank you, alas one glance back at you was all it took for that motivation to crumble. Wordlessly, he brings you into his chest by the back of your head, albeit a bit roughly. Before you can question him further, he places his head over yours, keeping you close. “Thanks” he muttered quietly but loud enough for you to hear. Despite not being able to see anything but your boyfriend's chest, you knew you were both causing a bit of a scene. Nevertheless, you relinquish in his rare affection and bring your arms around his torso. “Of course, it’s no problem” <3.

Celebrating your one year wedding anniversary apart was anything but ideal. As much as the two of you wanted to be wrapped up in each other's arms, spending the day lazing at home or perhaps in a foreign country, you had an important work deadline and Bokuto was at an away game. Nevertheless, the owl-like man you came to fall in love with did anything and everything to commemorate the occasion. It began with the (very early) good morning call he routinely did when away from you, this time much louder, longer and filled with fluffy words and air kisses. Your work day was then spent receiving various deliveries, each consisting of different items but all with a handwritten note attached. With each and every delivery you received, you were dedicated to send him a text of gratitude to your husband no matter how busy you were or the lack of reply from him. Just as you were gathering your things to head home for the evening, the office receptionist calls you to the front desk to receive a delivery exclusively for you. Curious as to what it may be considering Bokuto had just about sent all of your favorite things already, you head down to receive your gift. Upon arrival, your eyes instantly hone in on the beautiful bouquet of hydrangeas in the delivery man's hands. “Oh my goodness, thank you!” you express as the tall delivery man holds the bouquet out to you. Just as you were reaching for the stems, you notice a very familiar ring on his left hand that makes you instantly look up; there he was, hidden behind a baseball cap but wearing the goofiest of smiles on his face. You stare at him, absolutely flabbergasted before reality catches up to you and you jump into his arms, carefully holding onto him for dear life without destroying  the flowers. “Oh my god Kou I-I can’t believe you’re really here” your speech comes out muffled by his shirt before you hear a beautiful laugh. “You didn’t think I would possibly miss our anniversary did you?” he lets out before placing the hydrangeas on the desk and further embracing you into his strong and safe chest.
