i just want to know who thought of making the tunnel of love a dark creepy tunnel that gets lit up by gorgeous lights that tell the story of the rejection and abandonment of hepheastus while percy and annabeth look at each other and talk in quiet tones about the story and the stories percy's mom told him and that annabeth was indoctrinated into and meanwhile a song about love and pain is playing in the background and percy says he heard it in the orthodontist's office I JUST WANT TO TALK WITH THE WRITERS AND MAYBE EXAMINE THEIR BRAINS BECAUSE ?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!?1?

A/N:Happy Valentines,ignore the late post.I just wanted to do this little idea bc it's been stuck in my head all day 😭

Clarisse asking you to be her valentine in some rather...awkward circumstances.But hey,at least she asked,right?

You had just stepped out of the shower, hair damp and tousled, wrapped in nothing but a towel, when the door to your cabin burst open without warning. Clarisse La Rue, the tough-as-nails daughter of Ares, stood in the doorway, her eyes widening at the sight of you.

"Uh, Clarisse," you stammered, clutching the towel tightly around you,desperately wishing for the ground to swallow you whole.

But instead of mocking laughter or a scolding remark, Clarisse simply blinked, her expression unreadable for a moment before a smirk tugged at the corners of her lips.

"Well, well, well," she drawled, her voice low and husky. "Didn't expect to see this when I barged in here."

She blinked, then smirked, her gaze lingering a little too long on your glistening skin. "Didn't know you were such a sight, princess," she teased, emphasizing the last word with a playful tone.

You fought to maintain your composure, trying to ignore the way your heart raced at her unexpected compliment.You swallowed hard, feeling like a deer caught in headlights. "I...uh...sorry, I didn't hear you knock."

Clarisse waved off your apology with a dismissive flick of her hand. "Don't worry about it. Besides, it's not like I mind the view." She shot you a teasing wink, and despite your mortification,you couldn't help but feel a flutter of something warm in your chest.

Before you could gather your wits and come up with a coherent response, Clarisse's expression turned serious, her gaze locking with yours.

She straightened, crossing her arms over her chest. "I need to talk to you. It's about tomorrow."

Confusion flickered across your face. "Tomorrow?"

"Yeah, Valentine's Day," she said, rolling her eyes. "I know Castellan's been eyeing you, and I'm not letting him beat me to it."

Clarisse took a step closer, her expression unreadable. "I'm asking you to be my valentine. Tomorrow."

You blinked,your brain struggling to process the whirlwind of emotions coursing through you.Clarisse "I'll beat your ass into next month" La Rue,asking you to be her Valentine? It was unexpected, to say the least.

"Clarisse, I...I don't know what to say," you admitted,your voice barely above a whisper.

She took a step closer, closing the gap between you until you could feel the warmth of her breath against your skin.

Your heart skipped a beat at her boldness, and for a moment, you were rendered speechless.Eventually you find it in yourself to talk,your voice slightly shaky as you spoke "..I..I-sure...I'd love to-" you stammered nervously

But before you could finish your sentence, she closed the distance between you, leaning in suddenly to press her lips against yours in a kiss.

When she pulled away, she wore a triumphant smirk. "See you tomorrow, princess," she said, turning on her boot and striding out of the cabin, leaving you standing there, breathless and bewildered.

Let's Talk About Gabe Ugliano for a minute.

Percy show is out, I saw it, then had a mental breakdown.

So let's like. Let's talk about Gabe for a minute. Is Gabe Ugliano as bad as he is in the books? No. He isn't. Is Gabe Ugliano more likable in the show than in the movie.

No! No, he isn't! I'm not sure where the Fandom is coming from with "Gabe is actually likable now" - that's just the actor being really good at acting?

Gabe in the books was what I like to call Aggressive Abusive - he openly threatens Percy, is an ass to Sally, all sorts of nasty. I hate him. Makes him getting turned to stone extremely satisfying.

But then in the show version, Gabe is more tame. Sally has back and forth with him. They watch the Knicks together. That's not abusive! That's just jerk behavior! He said please, he's not abusive!

You're right. He's not Aggressive Abusive, he's a new kind of monster - the Charismatic Abuser. While not as overtly abusive as he was in the books, Gabe Ugliano is a new kind of ugly. He's nice to the most minimal degree. So what ARE his abusive traits that we DO see?

He puts all the financial burden on Sally

He answers Sally's phone, meaning Sally doesn't have the right to privacy.

He neglects to care about Percy's education.

He gambles away his money on Fantasy Poker and, I assume, horse racing - adding more financial strain to Sally.

When Sally mentions they're leaving to Montauk, there's this "When did I approve you leaving to Montauk." back and forth, to which he only relents when Sally agrees to give him food.

On the food thing, it's a Demand at first, then he sarcastically throws in a Please to get what he wants.

It's a more nuanced take on abuse than presented in the novels, sanitized for modern Disney audiences and also in line with the show's theme of "when is a monster a monster, when is a hero a hero." Many people think this is to add nuance to Medusa and do an Oops All Redemption Arcs but I think it's different than that.

I think Gabe will end up getting petrified because it's such an important story beat for both Percy and Sally. Sally has more agency than her book counterpart, but she doesn't have more power. She doesn't sucker up to Gabe, but she's still trapped in that relationship because of what that relationship means for Percy (remember, Gabe is protecting them with his human stench).

My dad wasn't overtly abusive to my mom. We never saw if he hit her or not - but I noticed bruises. The abuse was more towards me. My mom had agency in that dynamic but not power. You don't have to act like a complete monster to be abusive. He took us to Disney World, gave us Nintendo consoles, took us to see every Marvel movie in the world. He also neglected me, favored my brother, put unrealistic expectations on me, and I think he's the reason why my mind is so shattered at this point.

You don't have to be a complete monster, certain people just need to see you that way.

An aside about Sally Jackson:

People are saying Sally's character is completely ruined because of Gabe being nicer. Sally isn't defined by Gabe's abuse. She's defined by her resilience despite the abuse. She's defined by her resilience, her kindness to Percy, her defiance in the face of unwavering challenges. Reducing her character in The Lightning Theif to just "a victim of Gabe's abuse" sits so unwell with me. This is Sally "a queen amongst mortals" Jackson. Sally "observe as I fuck up the armies of Kronos with my shotgun" Jackson. Let's not reduce her to JUST a victim of Gabe's shit.

Anyways percy show 9.6/10 - what's with the cuts to black I don't get it

Percy Jackson Gabe change

PJO TV SPOILERS

THIS TALKS ABOUT THE SERIES TAKE ON GABE AND MY OPINION OF IT AND WHY IT IS ACTUALLY AN OK CHANGE FROM THE BOOK

I think the main reason I'm actually fine with the Gabe change in the show is that his role isn't as needed for the plot.

Gabe's abuse and overall assholeyness in TLT was a way to serve the plot. It was a way to show Percy's insecurities, and draw out his ability to always see the worst in himself when everyone else didn't.

In the show, all throughout the 2 released episodes, (at the time of writing ep3 hasn't come out yet for anyone reading this in the future) we've seen how Percy acts in a way that immediately tells us that he truly believes he is broken. The abusive stepdad part of the story is no longer needed for narrative purposes.

I do still hope they keep the part about Gabe basically calling a national manhunt on Percy though and being an asshole at the end, because otherwise, there is no way the medusa part at the end of the season is going to work. If they don't all it will do is just make Sally and Percy seem like truly horrific people.

Also so excited to see JPK's take on Medusa because that segment in the credits just gave me chills.

As you lay in your bed, drifting on the cusp of sleep,the faint murmur of the forest outside lulled you into a false sense of security,until suddenly, you were jolted awake by a hand clamping over your mouth and a sharp, metallic scent assaulting your senses.

Before you could even register what was happening, you found yourself being dragged out of bed, your limbs bound tightly by coarse rope. Panic surged through you as you struggled against your captor, but it was futile. The figure dragging you through the darkness was strong, too strong for you to break free.

Finally, you were thrust into a dimly lit clearing, where the moonlight cast eerie shadows over the scene. As your eyes adjusted to the darkness, you realized with a sinking feeling that your captor was none other than Luke Castellan-The ever so famous hero turned traitor, his dark eyes gleaming with a mixture of malice and amusement.

"You!" you hissed, your voice muffled by the hand still covering your mouth.

Luke merely smirked in response, his grip tightening on your arm as he pulled you closer. "Shh, now, no need for all that noise," he purred, his voice dripping with false sweetness.

You shot him a withering glare, but he seemed unfazed, his smirk only growing wider. "Feisty, feisty," he chuckled, leaning in closer until his face was mere inches from yours. "I like that about you."

You tried to turn away, to escape his piercing gaze, but his hand tightened on your chin, forcing you to meet his eyes. "You know," he continued, his voice dropping to a low whisper, "I've been watching you for a while now. You're different from the others. More... intriguing."

You squirmed under his gaze, a shiver running down your spine as his words sent a chill through you. "What do you want from me?" you demanded, your voice barely more than a whisper.

Luke's smirk widened into a grin, his eyes glittering with dark amusement. "Oh, darling, I want so much more than you could ever imagine," he murmured, his breath hot against your ear. "But for now, let's just say I have plans for you. Big plans..." to which you hissed "Plans?What.plans?!Castellan!"

Luke leans back slightly, his grin still lingering on his lips as he gazes at you with an enigmatic expression. "Let's just say they involve you being a part of something much bigger than yourself," he says cryptically, "But for now, it's best you focus on enjoying the moment,darling."

You watched in horror as he approached, his movements predatory as he traced a finger along your jawline.

"You're mine now," he whispered, his voice sending shivers down your spine. "And there's nothing you can do about it."

You spat at him, your defiance unyielding even in the face of danger. But Luke only chuckled darkly, his grip tightening around you as he pressed his lips against yours in a mocking kiss.

You struggled against your bonds, desperate to break free from his grasp, but it was no use. Luke held you firmly in place, his grip unyielding as he pressed a soft kiss to your cheek. "Sleep tight, sweetheart," he whispered,checking your bonds and making sure you couldn't move nor speak now,before disappearing into the darkness, leaving you alone and bound,with nothing but his laughter ringing in your ears.
