Ok so we’ve all collectively agreed that episode 5 blew our minds and walker and leah ate that shit up, like i know legally they don't pay rent BUT RENT WAS DUE.

What I really need to word vomit about is how well this episode tackles both Percy and Annabeth’s fatal flaws.

Percy: Loyalty

Percy has literally spent the last 4 episodes absolutely shitting on poseidon for being an absentee dad (go king)

Poseidon helps him one time (ONCE) and all of a sudden he is putting his all in this quest, he genuinely cares about it, almost as much as he does getting his mom back from the underworld.

Literally Percy will be loyal to the death as long as he is shown like a drop of loyalty, so much so this boy literally tries to sacrifice his life again in this ep, for the quest he only just became invested in??

Annabeth: Hubris

They really put my baby through a lot this episode.

I just HAVE to say my piece im sorry, but the way the tunnel of love completely fleshes out her pride and hubris in ONE SCENE, legit one line of dialogue

She was READY to get in that chair

Percy clocked her so hard when he said “You’re better at this than me.”

And because yeah he’s not wrong, she is the best hope for this quest succeeding, she lets him sacrifice himself and then IMMEDIATELY REGRETS IT but uh oh it's too late

This is just the perfect depiction of Annabeth “strongest warrior at camp” Chase’s first instinct may be to do it all on her own because she’s grown up thinking that’s how it has to be “eat or be eaten” but this line of thinking costs her. :(

Anyway, the percy jackson and the olympians brain rot is real.

Something that really, really bothers me is that in the lightning thief, when they meet Medusa, she and Poseidon are portrayed as "lovers", Annabeth even saying to Percy that Medusa "must still have a fondness to him" or something like that. It erases the true brutality of how Poseidon literally raped Medusa. I know that this book is marketed to kids and teens, but I still feel like there was something better Rick could've done. My idea is that Medusa doesn't really attack Annabeth more than Percy; instead, in some pages, she's more brutal to Annabeth, and right after to Percy. Percy, who probably doesn't get anything, could go "what did I ever do!?" and Medusa could respond with "Your father is the whole reason why I was ruined!" When Percy asks what Poseidon ever did, Medusa could just scream in rage and continue to attack him. This way, it'd not completely erasing the actual story and how brutal it was, it'd just be not actually saying anything about it.

I hope they make PJO shows right up to TOA so that I can say ‘Hermes lost a bet with Apollo and has to look like the Hamilton guy’ bc the timeline on the bet goes up every time they release a new season featuring Lin Manuel

In the Lighting Thief book, one of the times Percy gets recognized because of the manhunt, he says that he's a stunt double for a lot of child actors, and that's why the person recognizes him. If that scene makes it into the TV series, I want Percy's stunt double to be the one on screen when it's said. I don't care how they do it.
