I'm most of the way through The Battle of the Labyrinth and I absolutely adore Rachel. Girl is in way over her head but still doing her best to help (even though Annabeth is being super rude to her)

I do sympathize with Annabeth, I was pretty jealous over my friends at 15 too. First time I've been glad I'm reading these books as an adult because I can acknowledge that Annabeth is hurting but that this is about her feelings and Percy and Rachel haven't done anything wrong, instead of relating a little too hard and ending up going 'how dare Percy notice the existence of another girl?!?'

It was during last month that he started dating Rachel Elizabeth Dare along with the discovery of a new demi-god, Carlos Martinez, who annoyed Percy enough to start the argument. That day was the last day that you cried for him, the sobs heard by Annabeth and Hudson who were spending time with each other in Cabin 4, Demeter. You shed tears because another girl stole him away from you and because you could feel your adoration slowly slip away from him.

He didn't like that.

" Hey Jackson! Have you seen my girlfriend, [Name]?"

Percy frowned, Riptide twisting through his long, pale, fingers. His curly, blonde, hair fell against his forehead as he stared at his ballpoint pen.

" No, I haven't seen my gi-[L/N], if you're here to brag about how much she ‘loves’ you, don't bother. I’ve heard it from her cousin and Annabeth enough because they hate me for letting you crawl into her life. ." He snarled, his anger as evident as his love for you was to his close friends.

Grover stared at the Son of Poseidon while sitting with his girlfriend, Juniper. Sometimes he wondered if you knew how Percy loses his mind while thinking of you, but Grover knows you deserve better than his best friend.

And you were glad because of it.

"But I can't change that, and I can't change your mood."

Theseus, who was helped by poseidon multiple times, but in the end was thrown off a cliff by the citizens of Athens and drowned. Drowned in the ocean, the very domain of his father.

Kymopoleia, who was neglected by Poseidon once he found her to be too violent, left to wander his abandoned palaces, given up as a war prize to man she didn't even want with no choice at all.

Bellerophon, who was given the pegasus to tame as a gift from Poseidon in some myths, dying by falling off of it on his way to Olympus.

I'm just saying, that line wasn't a random throwaway line by Ares, he means it.

genuinely stunned at the fantastic choice for Percy not to pray to his absent and unknown father—like he did in the books—but to his mother.

the show is really taking us to one of riordan’s central theses straight off the bat.

parenthood isn’t about power and legacy and the recognition of shared blood.

It’s about the incredible act of showing up for your child—again and again and a-fucking-gain. That’s how you inspire respect. That’s how you become a child’s patron and beloved god.
