Acabo de terminar de ver La Sociedad de La Nieve y estoy con mil emociones.
mucha gente se llena la boca diciendo que es una copia de Viven y siento que los que dicen eso o no vieron la pelicula o la vieron con los ojos cerrados. J. A Bayona y todo el equipo detras de esta pelicula le tuvieron el respeto y el cuidado que se merecia, no estoy tratando de faltarle el respeto a Viven pero hay que ser sinceros, cambiaron tantas cosas y pareciera que hicieron la pelicula sin ganas de hacerla, la cantidad de errores no solo en la trama sino tambien en todos los aspectos de la pelicula como el vestuario e imagen (me vas a decir que estuvieron 72 dias en Los Andes y tenian la ropa impecable? que no les crecia la barba? ni bajaran de peso?) y ni hablar de el momento del copiloto y el mate, que carajos es eso?
Volviendo con La sociedad de la Nieve, es una película de la puta madre, no me acuerdo la última vez que sentí tanto con una película. La escena antes de la avalancha? dios, fue de risa a llanto en un segundo, las transiciones y la actuación de todos fue impecable.

The Mosley Review: When Evil Lurks
I tend to have a high tolerance and high expectation for horror films. When it comes to films about demonic possession, they're constantly all about how religion factors in or the standard set by the original The Exorcist with all the head spinning, levitating and gross out body horror tropes we've all come to know. Evil Dead Rise earlier this year was fantastic, but that is more of the extreme and fantastical nature. The last great grounded possession film I've seen was The Last Exorcism of Emily Rose and maybe The Last Exorcism. Both had their flaws, but delivered an engaging story and creepy visuals. What makes a great supernatural film is the ability to deliver a tension filled story that is not only compelling, but unpredictable. You have to really go places where most wouldn't dare and remove the common safe guards in place for certain characters. It has been a very long time since such a film has existed and has left me in a state of shock. What I really enjoyed about this film was that it was straight forward and gives you the right amount of lore and exposition that keeps you on edge. The sense of dread and tension is so thick throughout the film and I loved every second of it. Sure, there are moments of terror you could see coming, but you're still shocked once it happens and the sheer brutality of it was insane. Like any horror film, there are illogical character moments that are frustrating, but in this case it serves the story and highlights the flaws of the characters. That's how it should be done and I'm glad this film excels where almost all fail.
Ezequiel Rodriguez was excellent and endearing as Pedro. I loved his steadfast decision making, but man did he seriously put everyone in danger when it wasn't necessary at times. I did love that he was the most capable and smartest characters in the film as he saw what was coming when nobody would believe him. Demián Salomon was also excellent as his loyal and somewhat softer brother Jimmy. I loved their chemistry and even though they were on edge for the majority, I was happy to follow them both through this nightmare. Jimmy was one of the major catalysts in the most clever way that if you weren't paying attention, you'd miss why. Paula Rubinsztein was awesome and probably the only kind soul in the film as their mother. She delivers the ultimate lore dump and setting up the rules when dealing with a possessed or as referred to in the film as "The Rotten", and man it was so fun and creepy. Silvia Sabater was awesome as a Cleaner or the film's version of an exorcist. Her scenes were so intriguing and she adds that perfect level of strength in her faith herself and wisdom.
The film is well shot and what I loved is that there isn't any major visual trickery or CGI that tries to add to the look of despair. The make-up effects were top notch and equally grotesque in the best way possible. The physical horror was amazing and creepy in execution when it came to a scene involving Pedro's family. Like I said before, the tension in this film is thick and it never really lets up as the story continues to drag you through the hellish nightmare Pedro and Jimmy go through. I can't stress enough how this film goes for the unexpected and how unrelenting the violence is. This film has definitely raised the bar on how to deliver a perfectly paced demonic possession story that has thematic elements about grief, family and how it touches on faith, but it doesn't overtake the nonstop terror. This will hands down be the best horror film I have seen for the remainder of 2023. It is currently in theatres for a limited time and it will soon come to the horror streaming service Shudder. I highly recommend it for this spooky season for the curious, but it is NOT for the faint of heart. Let me know what you thought of the film or my review in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

Séries para me conhecer #1
E vamos de outra corrente que eu perdi o embalo de seguir na época: “X séries para me conhecer”. Eram seis? Eram dez? Já faz tanto tempo que nem lembro mais o número, mas fiz questão de anotar num papelzinho as séries que, digamos assim, tiveram um impacto recente sobre mim. Resolvi discorrer sobre sete, mas vai rolar umas menções honrosas no fim de tudo.
Na verdade, não sou uma consumidora ávida de séries, sitcoms, especialmente das longas, longuíssimas, cheias de temporadas, reviravoltas e personagens; não tenho paciência nem dedicação suficiente para concentrar uma hora diária (ou mais) em um episódio durante dias ou meses a fio (e isso já desde antes das redes sociais e dessa cultura de déficit de atenção generalizado). Tenho uma hipótese para isso, mas vou deixar para mais adiante…
Não vou colocar numa ordem específica porque não tenho bem uma hierarquia. Com certeza também vou deixar de fora muitas séries boas e esquecer de tantas outras que foram formativas de verdade, mas elas são representativas do que me interessa em termos de televisão AGORA.
Sim, vai ser uma série de postagens sobre as séries (sacou?), até porque eu sempre acho que vou escrever pouco, mas acabo me estendendo. E no primeiro episódio…
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
Olha, vou ser sincera: eu não gosto de musicais na maioria das vezes. Para gostar de um musical, as músicas precisam estar muito bem integradas na história. E precisa ter momentos normais de diálogo, sem cantoria, senão eu não consigo levar a história muito a sério.
Só que Crazy Ex-Girlfriend é bem consciente do formato utilizado: dificilmente uma música soa fora de contexto/lugar/tom, até porque o tom da série às vezes pende pro absurdo mesmo. Fora que ela brinca bastante com os gêneros e os estilos a cada “clipe”, então não fica aquele formatinho de musical característico da Broadway, voltado só para conhecedores de musicais da Broadway.
A série também tem um tipo de humor que eu curto bastante, com uma pegada meio sombria (principalmente mais adiante, embora eu ache que a penúltima temporada pesa um pouco demais a mão no drama).
Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) é uma advogada de sucesso em NY, só que infeliz pra caralho. Um dia ela topa por acaso na rua com o GOSTOSO do ex-namorado de adolescência dela, o Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III), idealiza toda uma vida feliz ao lado dele numa cidadezinha praiana na ensolarada Califórnia e faz o que toda pessoa normal faria: larga o emprego, se muda para a tal da cidade do boy e começa a trabalhar numa firma meio mequetrefe de advocacia. E, com a ajuda de Paula uma colega de trabalho mais velha que shippa ardentemente os dois (e quer fugir um pouco da monotonia do cotidiano de esposa/mãe suburbana e funcionária de escritório de advocacia mequetrefe numa cidade pequena), Rebecca começa a bolar mil e um planos mirabolantes para conquistar o incauto gostoso burrinho com um coração de ouro.
Com um padrão de comportamento obsessivo, uma tendência à competitividade e muita competência na manipulação, a Rebecca é uma ótima protagonista horrível. Ela é a receita do sucesso para causar caos e desastre, inclusive (especialmente) a si própria.
A série explora um monte de questões de gênero, sexualidade, relacionamentos interpessoais de todo tipo, dando um destaque à saúde mental, mas sempre com um humor que torna, com frequência, tudo muito digerível.
Na minha humilde opinião, a temporada 3 (penúltima) pesa um pouco a mão na seriedade e deixa a Rebecca meio que insuportável além da conta, mas a última temporada consegue recuperar um pouco do gás inicial e fechar as cortinas de modo satisfatório (considerando tudo que ela se propôs a ser desde o início). Não sei se é uma opinião controversa, mas pra mim funcionou.
Não sei se isso pode servir de estímulo a alguém, mas o que realmente me convenceu a assistir Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, depois da sugestão de uma amiga, foi esta música, que aparece já no primeiríssimo episódio.

Compartimos con ustedes la edición 9 de Crack.
