I actually rather like the simplicity of this piece already - if only I could just leave it like this 😂 A larger piece, really enjoying the colder, desaturated colours.

I tried something a bit different today. I've never drawn a mushroom ever in my life before, so this was new! An interesting challenge. I wanted an excuse to draw with my pastel pencils, and indigo milkcaps were the inspiration. I really like working with pastels! I still need more practice, but for a first try, I don't think it looks too bad. I can't believe it's after 3pm here already! The time has flown by, oh my.

So many issues with it, but hey - it kinda looks like him, and it reads as a human being so I will take the win!

As you can probably can tell with my recent flapping around between pencil, pastel, a bit of watercolour and more recently a bit of acrylic - I am still very much trying to find my place as an artist. It's a constant journey and it doesn't help that I flip flop between my love of different mediums!

I've tried doing landscapes with markers and paint before, but they never turned out 100% satisfactory. I attempted watercolours a few weeks ago, and that turned out even worse! However, I experimented with pastel pencils yesterday, and the results are not horrible. It's far from perfect, but I think pastel was the medium that ended up looking the best. Just a typical greenbelt scene in May. I might end up using this for something in the future.
