Pariah & Decay AU | Talks of past.
Tumblr media
Pariah watched as the baby cooed and babbled on the blanket beside her, the helium balloon's strings tied to each of the baby’s limbs proved a good choice of entertainment for the baby as she moved and kicked her little legs, waving and pulling the balloons around and her happy sounds was the most prominent sounds in her bed room.
Pariah’s leg was detached and charging, as was her new arm so she took to simply watching the baby’s fun with a warmth in her chest, settling on her side on the floor with a mountain of pillows to support her to keep her remaining arm free to stroke Rana’s dark locks of hair or to keep the strings from tanging too much.
“Ma!” Rana wiggled, shoving her fists into her mouth and smiled toothlessly to her.
“I’m here, baby.” Pariah smiled, wiggling herself closer, and tugged the little one closer, untying one of the strings before Rana cooed as the balloon shot up, her little face filled with wonderful amazement.
The other three followed before Rana was free from string and Pariah manoeuvred her to lie on her chest as she rolled onto her back. Rana’s head lent back, though her hands grabbed a hold of her vest, pulling in curiosity though eyes widened as she realised what she was looking at before face-planting into her covered breast.
Pariah laughed at her daughter’s attempt to self-nurse and not get anywhere though enjoyed the baby’s attempts before she heard a knock.
“Come in.”
Pariah was surprised to see Decay Isabela standing in the doorway though less surprised than the girl as Decay looked surprised at the sight of the baby. Decay was dressed down into plain, more ‘Morden’ clothes with a simple set of trousers and shirt but one sleeve was empty; a reminder of how new she was to all of this.
“I...” Decay’s voice strained, “I hope I’m not interrupting?”
“No, come in.” Pariah pushed herself to sit up, her arm supporting the baby and brought her legs up to rest Rana back on, half her vest still in the baby’s mouth as she tried to part the baby. “Excuse her, she’s not clocked she can’t nurse on me at the moment.”
Decay blinked. “I had no idea you even had a baby.”
“I’m not surprised. Most Julieta's don’t have babies at my age but... it happened.” Pariah smiled softly, finally pulling her vest free from Rana’s mouth, the little one’s face turning into a scowl beofre her fist wedged into her mouth to suckle on.
“How old is she?”
“Six months yesterday.”
Rana cooed happily as Decay finally entered properly and knelt and grasped a balloon string to pull it down for her. Pariah noted that there was no mistake the caution her variant daughter had as the baby reached for the balloon.
“Her name’s Verana Madrigal. Born here...in quite a fashion” Was the softest way to put it
Decay cocked her head. “Is she...going to see her father?”
Pariah sighed out softly at the question, of course Isabela was concerned about that side because...Agustin was a father through and through so why wasn’t he here?
“No. Agustin...never knew about the pregnancy when I left. I didn’t know either.” it twinged her a little but...Agustín had their other daughters now, she needed Rana...and Rana needed the Watcher’s medical check-ups.
“Even after three kids?”
“I had...a lot going on.” Pariah knew that Decay was very new to this, and unlike the others, knew very little of her backstory. Pariah didn’t plan to sell a sob story but she hoped Decay would...relax a little. “I thought the symptoms was stress and depression.”
Decay nodded softly, bobbing the balloon. “I heard that Casita typically falls in most of the AUs; i doubt that’s easy for anyone.” Her tone remained cautious, letting go of the balloon to scratch at her cheek. “You lost your gifts and your home after all... can’t imagine that’s anything less than stressful.”
Pariah said nothing. It had been somewhat of a curiosity to learn that...Decay’s world didn’t have the typical milestones. No cracks or collapse after Antonio’ ceremony; it had diverted sooner by actions Decay hadn’t fully divulged to the group; aside from the Watchers.
“Do you want to hold her?” Pariah asked, “be warned, She's a wiggler.”
Decay shook her head. “No... I shouldn’t.” though the look in her face suggested otherwise.  “Not to mention, one arm so I couldn’t hold her well so--”
“I have one arm, Decay.” Pariah remined dryly,  lifting the stump of her arm up, the prosthetic’s rod glinting in the low light, “sure, my left arm’s got a little more arm but...if I can hold my baby, I'm sure you can.”
“I... I don’t want to hurt her.”
“She bounces?”
Decay looked to her sharply, not looking sure if the joke she said was real or not beofre Pariah chuckled and shifted the baby on her lap to face her, leaving the option open. Decay reached forwards, her fingers brushing along her cheek softly and...sadly. But she didn’t try and lift her, even as Rana’s little pudgy hand grabbed a hold of her finger with a coo.
“You won’t hurt her.”
Decay’s eyes flickered down, almost shamefully. “I... I don’t want the risk.” she swallowed uncomfortably, “It happened once...with my Mirabel. I can’t do that again to a little one.”
Pariah’s head tilted thoughtfully before shifting and settled the baby to sit up onto the floor. Only Rana opted to flop and roll so she let her, Decay’s finger not released from the little hand.
“We’ve all left our family's for one reason or another. My...leaving was traumatic for my family as it was for me. But I wouldn't go back to them.” Pariah sighed out, “I did a bad thing for a good cause...but in the end it just...brought down the Casita. My life went down hill from there, as you can imagine.”
Decay remained quiet though there was curious confusing in her eyes. “What did you do?” She finally asked.
“I asked the candle to not give Mirabel her gift.”
Decay’s eyebrows shot up before her expression shifted a few times. “That...got out. To the family and the town.” She guessed.
“The family at first. Which was fine because i could handle that. I knew one day they’d learn. It wasn’t easy but...I had to earn their trust back. Mirabel wouldn’t even look at me for the first few days.”
“Really? My Mirabel forgave me within the day.” Decay spoke, “What I did, I think was much worse. I know I didn’t deserve that forgiveness so soon.”
“I suppose it’s variable on a long-term betrayal against a short-term.” Pariah sighed out, “Everyone got focused quickly to the rebuild and so, that was the focus for the first week or so.”
“Then the town found out.”
“Yes, curtesy of Camilo. Mirabel did break his nose for that but the damage was done by then.”
“My Camilo did that as well.” Decay frowned, “Is he multi-universally a jerk?”
“He’s petty. Never thought of the damage that would have followed. Agustín was good, took care of me. It took....two months for Casita to be finished. Magic returned...” Pariah sighed heavily out. “I never got my gift back when the rest of the family did... I wasn’t in a good place following that and...well the pregnancy didn’t help.”
Decay winced. “I’m sorry that happened to you.”
“My point is, Decay, I left because...I was lost and if Hallow hadn’t found me, I would have drowned. I felt like i had nothing to go back to, like my own daughters didn’t want me and i felt so alone. The town was too much for me to handle on top of all that. Here, I have one of my Babies, I have a job and a purpose. I’m content, even with the losses of my body that came with it.”
Rana rolled onto her belly, pushing herself up with a coo though her focus was to Decay.
After a moment, Decay reached forwards and offered her only hand out. Rana reached forwards, grasping her finger again before trying to pull her finger to her mouth.
“Mirabel. she heard me talking to myself about not wanting to marry Mariano.” Decay started, her eyes to the baby, “she only wanted to help but...i didn’t want her help. I wanted her to forget what i said. We argued. I hurt her in my rage...” Decay swallowed, “I almost killed her with my gift.”
Pariah reached forwards, squeezing her shoulder intently. She could see the guilt this had on the young woman, the lingering shame that was all too familiar....
“Keep going. It might help.”
“I got punished...which did make me feel better because...it was necessary. Mirabel forgave me...even if she didn’t need to. I...I lost the family’s trust in me.. My Mami...she did her best but...she didn’t quiet get how to help; didn’t understand why I did what I did.”
Pariah sighed softly; no wonder the girl had trouble opening up when her parents didn’t have that shared view. Stress effected people differently.
“In the end....i just stopped coming out of my room when i didn’t need to. Explored my gift...studied...I had all the time in the world.”
“What changed?”
“Nothing did.” Decay’s face turned bitter, “Abuela never lifted the punishments at all....for over a year I did my best to atone but...nothing changed. When I asked...it was rebuked...she was never going to let me move on from my actions. I...I couldn't live like that any more.” Decay swallowed thickly. “I...had to leave. One way or another...i couldn’t take living like that with no end...being treated like a criminal.” She sniffed.
“You’re not a criminal. You’re not a bad person, even if the guilt is telling you that. Guilt and shame are horribly seductive.” Pariah spoke, “You paid your dues and if the family can’t see that, that’s on them.”
Decay reached forwards, tugging Rana up into her chest and hugged the cooing infant, rocking herself to self-sooth and Pariah let her.
“I feel like a terrible person... does that ever go?”
“It...lessens. But... what I've learned here is this; you can’t change your past but your future if how you make it as long as you’re going in the right direction. No matter how fast or slow you go.”

Stray AU | Agustín
Tumblr media
At age 33, Agustín was forced from his family by Abuela due to her disapproval of him over a few factors, the reasons why remained unknown to Julieta and his daughters.
Due to poor timing of Hallow Pepa, and having confronted a jaguar in his travel out, his options changed before he was brought into the Watcher AU for treatment; there was an offer of recruitment if he was interested; to be part of a team.
Stray Agustín first met Pariah Julieta shortly after her leg amputation, sitting next to the artificial womb where her baby was forced to grow in given her injury. They talked, though she unknowingly convinced him to join the team.
He did help her through her recovery, helping her adjustment with her new prosthetics, which did make him feel better about their options. But both understood personal boundaries as they got comfortable with each other in their line of work; to remain faithful to their own version of each other.
When Pariah comes back Injured in one way or another, he doe like to help patch her up and worry about her recklessness.
Wanderer and Watcher have bets going with Hallow to see if those two would get together regardless. So far no successful attempts. Even Rana, when she was old enough tried to get them together (with some bribery by the others of their group)
Despite being assumed dead in his AU, Abuela banned his name being spoken, twisting the story of what happened when Dolores alluded to an argument they had to the rest of the family, making it seem like Agustin was the bad guy, that he left the family because he couldn’t take the madrigal responsibilities.
8 year old Camilo didn’t help, by fragments of stories he heard and using his shapeshifting of a distorted, bloodied Agustin that created a rumour that Agustin’s ghost roamed the forests in Encanto which frightened many children, especially Mirabel, who grew up hearing bad stories of her ‘deceased papi’.
Here his origin overview

Watcher AU | Technology ; Hip Packs
Tumblr media
Hip Packs such like this is a new technology for the Watchers to incorporate into their services and one that was both desired for it’s usefulness but initially rejected for fear of abuse if these bags were handed to the wrong people.
Eventually, after some redesign and incorporating limits, they were released but in a case-by-case basis and often, an application for such an item was required.
The packs were a magical item than a technological item as they had an expandable inside and capable of carrying much more than a Glock and ammo or snacks. But they were designed to look normal as to blend in. Normal hip packs were designed and released to hide the magical ones for those denied the magical variation.
The capabilities were designed for some limits;
No living organics
No furniture
No lethal weapons
Hip Packs were primarily used for disabled workers, such as Pariah Julieta and Decay Isabela to carry spare protheses, spare parts and and tools for repairs for their limbs. Medically trained workers had a medical pack included inside for emergencies.
The Hip Packs were designed to be with a weight-system; no true weight. No weight indicates the pack is empty, but there’s some varying weight for indication of how full it is.
The Group and their pack status:
Pariah Julieta | Active
Stray Agustin | Active
Decay Isabela | Lost
Verana | Inactive (in her room)
Wanderer Mirabel | Inactive (in her room)
Tek Felix | Active
Hallow Pepa | Active
Distort Camilo | Inactive (confiscated)
Fracture Alma | N/A
Fracture Juliana | Active
Abscond Luisa | N/A

Pariah AU | Julieta ( miscarriage tw )
Tumblr media
This is Verana Madrigal, known as Rana for short, if the fourth daughter of Julieta and Agustín of the Pariah AU, conceived 2 months before the Casita’s rebuild was completed after the Encanto found out via Camilo of Julieta’s actions to interfering with Mirabel’s ceremony, somewhat turning them more against Julieta as they came to the conclusion she had effectively destroyed the miracle that had protected them.
Things got difficult after the residence they had been at didn’t want Julieta there but thankfully, Agustin’s mother was quick to lend a hand, inviting them to stay. So they did.
Agustín came back to help comfort his wife, which did work for a small part of time but reality of the situation wasn’t different.
So for 9 weeks, Julieta didn’t notice the signs of pregnancy, assuming mostly the symptoms were a result of stress and depression she had been handling since the collapse.
After the magic returned, Dolores picked up the subtle sounds of fetal heartbeats but wasn’t sure if she should tell anyone, as she assumed that Julieta knew given her Tia had three other kids before.
Three weeks later, Julieta went MIA after a nasty spout of gossip pushed Julieta into a disassociated state to Encanto; which Dolores did hear initially but didn’t think Julieta would get far as she went to get help to bring her back.
As the family began to worry when Julieta didn’t return that night, Dolores did let slip that Julieta was carrying twins; given how many hearts she heard which only spurred the family to find her. Two and a half days later, Julieta’s door went dark which led to the grim assumption that Julieta had died out in the forests.
Julieta herself still hadn’t realised she was pregnant, even when she return back to reality to find herself lost in the woods, she tried to return, getting more lost and further away. As the hours without food and water, Julieta tried to forage as she went to stop the pangs.
it wasn’t until after she almost drowned that Hallow and her group had access to a proper scanner in the watcher AU, which picked up on one of the heartbeats; the stress of the ordeal causing Julieta to miscarry one of the babies that she had yet to pass, and the other one still at risk. She was medically bed ridden for a few days to ensure the surviving baby wasn’t at risk when she was discharged.
Because of this, The Watcher Casita had a suit prepped in the event of an early delivery to maximise the baby’s chances, at the suggestion of Watcher!Julieta. This came to save the Baby’s life, 3 months later, when Pariah!Juliet was about 5 months along where she was assisting the group navigate a Corrupt AU to get the corrupted magic candle where she was caught by Corrupt!Luisa and suffered the traumatic loss of her leg.
Because of that, the baby had to be delivered prematurely so Pariah had better survival chances with her leg. Fortunate, the Watcher AU was more technology advanced, and with magic and with close ties with a more advanced, tech AU, they were able to forge together an artificial womb for the baby to continue to grow in until she could breath independently.
Julieta was able to stay by her side in her own recovery and named the baby girl Verana, a name meaning Faith, as she needed something to believe in and to trust in during the difficult time.
