So you're telling me that Scar naturally got the permit for sand, giving him the coveted monopoly, and didn't even want it anymore, whereas Grian has wound up with the permit for red sand and does actually want to use it. Red sand. Red. Meanwhile the end of third life involved Grian killing Scar and staining the sand with his blood following a conflict fuelled by a hopeless monopoly. And it's still following them years after the actual murder. And I'm supposed to be normal about this how exactly

In episode 8:

Pearl, as Gem is chasing her down: AH! You don’t have to do it, Gem! You don’t have to do anything!

Gem: I know— I don’t have to do it! You can stop this! You don’t have to die!

In episode 9:

Pearl, firing arrows at Gem: Gem, I— Don’t make me do this, Gem.

Gem: PEARL—! I’m not making you do anything!

Pearl: You’re making me do this right now.

Gem: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

Pearl: I DON’T KNOW!

thinking about the martyn and grian parallels again incidentally. two least trustworthy motherfuckers on the server who have been forever scarred by that one time they were wildly loyal. blatantly, surface-level survivalist and not worth trusting but somehow keep on ending up on teams anyway. keep on having to kill everyone they love. two unguided hands who haven’t left the desert. how do they do it,

What's often interesting to me, is Dream spells it out in the finale and people often still don't get it, so I thought it'd be interesting to see what he was actually referencing here. To see where it all started.

[24:27] Tommy: “That first war, me and Tubbo versus you–how it should have ended–why’d you take it?” Dream: “Tommy, you ambushed me and killed me. You stole all my shit! You tried ambushing me in a little cave–you don’t remember that? I feel like you just–your memory is just–gone.”

So here is the ambush Dream is talking about, where Sapnap and Tommy basically decide to just kill Dream and then kept all of his shit. [Death 1]

He gets killed again when he tries to take back his stuff. [Death 2]

Tommy kills him for fun right after he respawns with nothing. [Death 3]

Then after Dream gets his stuff back (via our boy Punz) and he takes the discs to get Tommy to stop, he gives Tommy back his items. But unsatisfied, Tommy goes after Dream, gets one of his discs back and hides it in the little cave. Dream tries to find it, while Sapnap and Tommy try to stop him. They are unsuccessful until, Tubbo brings them axes and they sneak up and corner Dream in the little cave, ambushing and killing him. Once again, taking all of his shit, (including, yes, the other disc.) [Death 4]

[27:58] Tommy: “Think about that, we could’ve been friends but no because you have to figure out the reason you have to get–”  Dream: “Yeah we could’ve but you–you ruined the chance of that long ago. It was you.” Tommy: “I ruined it?” Dream: “You ruined it!”

And I don’t think it’s unfair for Dream to say that in the finale, because for Dream it’s this stream early on, these moments that started it all. It’s these instances of of Dream getting murdered and robbed and made fun of over and over. Him, trying to not just make peace for everyone, but also reclaim respect and peace for himself. It’s Tommy chasing after Dream when he has nothing to kill him and rub it in his face. It’s Dream, even after all of that, giving back their items. It’s these instances of violence taken too far to the point they clearly pissed Dream off and didn’t care or follow his very simple request of just giving an apology and his belongings back that shape my distaste for Tommy and sympathy for Dream. It’s these moments that I feel like are gone from Tommy’s and our memory that highlight a different story.

[28:34] Dream: “Yeah, we could have been friends if you weren’t a little shit.”

The hand and the beholden

pearl knows what it’s like to be sacrificed for. she’s watched scott light the tnt and the death message flash in before she can even release the arrow.

and now, as she steps aside a second too late, doesn’t pull out her sword, spends her last breath telling her opponent about a zombie, she learns how to sacrifice.

scar knows what it’s like to sacrifice. he’s done a fistfight, in the desert, silently ready to lose, prepared and willing to die.

and now, as he realises too late that pearl’s dead, as he realises the zombie behind him, left in shock, he knows how grian felt in that cactus ring.

When Two Worlds Collide

There's something different about this one.

Shadow is no stranger to visiting unfamiliar worlds in pursuit of their sacred duty, but usually there is a Ward, someone whose spirit has called to them for help and summoned them there.

Here, there is only a world, and something curious about the ruined Nether portal at Spawn, and a mismatched group of people who are now part of the story.

Hey friends! I haven't talked much on here (if at all) about the fact that I stream and create Minecraft content, but tomorrow a really cool project is starting and I wanted to share it with you all!

Parallels SMP is a lore- and roleplay-based server that I am making with some friends who I met through the MCYT Cosplay side of Tiktok, and tomorrow evening - Friday 14th October at 7:30pm BST - we will be streaming the opening session of the story!

My character for this server is Shadow; the same character as my Trafficsona, and in fact Parallels canonically takes place somewhen following the events of the Trafficsona Central roleplay game. I am really looking forward to exploring this arc of Shadow's story, and I hope you will join us on this adventure!

Thinking about the grian wither/etho warden parallels.

How withers come from the red and hot and dry and chaotic biome. How wardens come from the cold and quiet and dark and blue/green one.

How a wither attacked etho’s base in last life, and a warden was set on grians in double life.

The wither being very fond of scar, it causing the permanent death of two of grians closest friends.

The wither being able to fly, the warden being blind
