Some “seeing stones” I made recently with air dry clay and painted with some weather-resistant paint.
I’ve always loved the concept of hagstones and similar things that allow for magical sight when they’re looked through. That’s why the holes in these are so wide, so they can be peered through easily without eyestrain.
I enjoyed making these a lot, so I made quite a few more and tried out some different shapes. I’ll show them later once they’re done! :)

Uh hello! Forgive me if I say anything awkward or offensive, I don't usually go here. I've recently taken an interest in hag stones, but Google wouldn't give me the information I was looking for, so I've turned to the witch side of tumblr.
My questions mostly relate to what qualifies as a hag stone and what is allowed to he done with it. For example, if I made a smooth stone out of clay and then carved a hole into it, would that could as a hag stone? Or is it strictly something formed in nature? Is it considered natural if the hole is formed before it dries? Also, if I were to find a natrually formed one that I liked the shape of, would I be allowed to paint patterns or colors onto it?
I've never really done anything like this before, but I do believe in luck and have a very deep interest in folklore and superstitious practices. I just want to know what is 'allowed' before I do anything, since I'd hate to get/make something for good luck only to find out that something I did made it not work as intended.
Thanks in advance! Sorry to bother you, I hope you have a fantastic day or night.
A hagstone specifically denotes a naturally formed mineral stone, bearing a hole that was bored through it by untold years of running water. As such, a handmade clay piece would not count as a hagstone, and neither would a stone with an artificially created hole.
As for whether or not it's okay to decorate a Hagstone in some way, though, I can't see why it wouldn't be. Personally, however, I would probably hold off on decorating a hagstone until I had a sense of ritual inspiration behind said ornamentation (assuming you're wanting to use it for ritual purposes.)

I was gifted an unfinished scroll by Naomi Cornock!! this one of many of her Mórrígan/Bean Sídhe/washer in the ford paintings
Tumblr media
usually these scrolls are finished with recycled driftwood from plants that were considered sacred by the insular druids (oak, holly, hazel, blackthorn etc) and witches ladders and little clay trinkets or hagstones and such, like in these pictures from her instagram
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but to make it easier to get it through customs, the one she gave me is just fabric. I'm going to finish it myself with branches and bones belonging to native plants and animals of my state. I'm so freaking happyyyyy

Fae Hunt Chapter 8
Jon Quillian belongs to @marginmaster87, Green to @autumnleafauthor, and Morgana to @shamrockace
Bard's Note: Here we go! Thanks again to @theshapeshifter100 as always!
---
The ping of metal dropping onto wood came far too soon for Ivy's liking. With a groan she rolled out of the bed, pulled off the cloak acting as a blanket, and opened up the chest to get her saddlebags out. There was a slight moment of panic where she thought the key to the padlock was in the saddlebags, but luckily, it turned out to be in the desk drawer.
The saddlebags weren’t heavy, having only the essentials packed (bed roll, sleeping sack, tinder box, strike flint, waterproof cloak and Watch rations). She then added the quartz, the honey and the black cloak. The cloak wasn’t necessary, but she wanted to bring it.
Ivy paused and looked at her arms. As always, the woven bracelet from Rufus and the painted bangle from Charles sat on her wrists. If they got lost, or damaged…
She carefully removed them, holding them in her hands. The bangle was darker now, the painted flowers faded and rubbed. The woven bracelet was also darker from sweat, but otherwise hadn’t changed.
With a sigh, she gently placed them in the chest, and took the hagstone. As she put it on, she was reminded that she was already wearing a necklace.
The leather cord had been replaced many times, but the pendants remained the same: A wooden trail of ivy, and an almost perfectly spherical gold nugget, the size of a fingernail. She should take that off too - what if the leather snapped while they were away?
She held the necklace in her palm, and couldn’t do it. It was one of the last things her mother gave her.
She couldn’t do it.
The hagstone now hung around her neck with the other necklace. The saddlebags were hoisted to drape over her shoulders, her sword and knife were on her belt, her shield was slung on her back for now, and the spear was under one arm. Time to saddle up.
Firefly flicked her tail and greeted Ivy happily when she saw that Ivy was carrying her tack. Her loyal horse never liked being cooped up in a stall for too long.
Ivy took her time, making sure all the buckles were secure and there wasn’t any fur or mane trapped.
Her shield took it’s usual spot on her horse’s flank, and the spear rested in a folded loop in the saddlebags, pointy end sticking behind them.
Ivy led Firefly out of the stables, still light-headed and not wanting to risk falling out of the saddle. Otto took the space on the saddle instead, and perched there proudly, preening his wings as the three of them waited by the main gates.
Jon rode up beside them on a familiar horse. It was Ford, the same horse Jen had.
“Hey there!” he called.
“Hey,” Ivy leaned against the fence, Firefly’s reins in one hand. “Hello again Ford,” she added, Firefly snorted and snuffled in Ford’s direction, who snuffled back in a greeting.
“Yeah, bet you remember him. We only have the one horse!”
“You could have borrowed a horse for all I knew. Not sure how happy he’ll be about being back in the Western Forest.”
“I’m sure he can handle it,” Jon patted his neck as Ford let out a nicker, which might have been a complaint. Ivy wouldn’t have blamed him if it was.
“We’ll find out I suppose. Have you seen Green and Morgana?”
“Not yet. They should come by soon though.”
“Hope so, the sooner we can go, the better.”
As she spoke, a dappled grey mare walked over, Morgana perched on top and Eamon trotting beside. The Mage waved. “Hey!”
“Hey there!” Jon waved back as the group approached.
“Ah, there you are,” Ivy hoped that she didn’t look like she was going to pass out. She half felt like it. Half an hour had not been nearly enough time.
Morgana glanced around, and did not comment on Ivy’s tired disposition. After all, it would have been rather hypocritical.
“Oh, has Green not arrived yet?” she asked.
“Not yet,” Jon answered.
“Ah, okay,” they waited in awkward silence for a second.
“All present and correct?” Ivy asked the group. “Got everything?”
“Not quite, we’re still waiting for Green,” Jon quipped.
Morgana’s face showed a bit of panic. “Uhhh, I don’t know. Probably.”
“I’m sure you’ve got everything, just being anxious,” Ivy assured, running through her own mental checklist. She was definitely wearing her riding gloves and a hat to keep the sun off. Her non Watch cloak was in the saddlebags, along with her mother’s cloak.
“I’ve got all my stuff,” Jon assured.
“Good, good,” Ivy blinked hard a few times, making sure the world stayed where it was.
Finally, Green appeared around the corner atop a plain brown horse, which was maybe a bit too small for her travel bag.
“Apologies, I seem to have forgotten how hard it is to get a horse at a big Outpost like this!”
“Hey, it’s no problem,” Jon assured. “You think that pony will be able to hold you?”
“We’ll have to find out,” Ivy appraised the small horse critically. “Although, I couldn’t hold those bags, how do you expect that poor pony too?”
“It’s the best I can do at the moment,” Green grimaced. “Maybe I can switch her out along the way.”
“Hopefully,” Jon agreed. “Alright, is everyone ready to go?”
“Yep,” Morgana nodded.
“I hope so…” was Green’s more tentative response.
“I suppose so,” Ivy went through the route mentally, and out loud. “So, the Haven, then Conchúr, Monacoil, Roosts, then we’ll be in the Western Forest.”
“Sounds like you’ve gotten this all figured out!” Jon declared.
“It’s how I would get there, unless any of you have got a faster way.”
“Not really,” Green said. “Sounds good to me.”
Jon meanwhile looked a little concerned. “No, no I wasn’t saying that. I’m just glad at least one of us had a plan.”
Green just chuckled at Jon’s remark.
Ivy wasn’t offended, but didn’t want to waste much more time. She got into the saddle, dislodging Otto for a second before he readjusted himself, and the group set off.

What is a Pendulum and how to use it.
BY: SAPPHIRE MOON
Abundantly useful and often strikingly beautiful, pendulums are amazing tools for divination, dowsing, and answering questions relating to love, work, health, money, and much more. Pendulums have been used since ancient times, for dowsing, healing and seeking answers from our subconscious. A pendulum is basically a heavy object, known as the Bob, suspended on a cord or chain. Held between your fingers and allowed to swing freely, energy is channeled through your hand causing the object to swing in a particular direction to indicate an answer, either back and forth or in a circular motion. Sometimes a small stone or bead is attached to the top end of the cord, for ease of handling, this is called the Fob.
Pendulums are one of the simpler divination tools for someone to use. Like most tools, the pendulum only has the power that the user gives it. By using it regularly and putting your own energy into it, you create a link with the pendulum and it becomes an instrument for your subconscious to convey the messages your unconscious perceives. The pendulum is an aid, never rely on it solely when making any major decisions.
Pendulum Choices
There are many different options available for pendulums and it really is down to personal choice. They are made from a variety of materials including crystals, wood, glass, and metals. Here are just a few ideas:-
Amethyst – Helps mind and body – Good for healing use.
Citrine – For well being – Good for dowsing food allergies.
Clear Quartz – All purpose – Good for clarity.
Copper – Attunes itself readily to users energy.
Glass – Good for finding objects.
Hagstone – New beginnings, cleansing & Protection – Good for spiritual questions.
Rose Quartz – Unconditional love – Good in times of Crisis.
Silver – High energy – Good for healing, spirituality and intuition.
Sodalite – Wisdom – Good for making logical decisions.
Wood – Absorbs users energy easily – Good for confidence, wisdom and clarity.
Whatever its shape, or size, it’s important you go with your instincts when choosing a pendulum. Choose one that you are drawn to, one that feels right for you and that you feel a connection to.
Cleansing
Before you use your pendulum for the first time it is a good idea to cleanse it. Some recommend soaking the pendulum is salt water, however this can be harmful to many materials, so I would suggest a more gentle cleanse such as passing it through the smoke of sage or incense, placing it in a singing bowl or leaving it overnight to bathe in moonlight at a full moon.
Programming your pendulum
The next step is to program your pendulum and determine it’s yes and no directions. Not all pendulums react in the same way. Clear your mind, hold the pendulum and ask it to “show yes” and wait for it to establish a regular motion. Note which way it moves, then ask your pendulum to show you ‘no’. Wait a minute or so and you’ll notice the direction it swings will change.
The pendulum may swing in a clockwise circle for yes and anticlockwise for no. It may just swing back and forth for a yes and sideways for a no. Some swing back and forth for yes, sideways for no and circular for maybe. To confirm your pendulum responses ask a few questions that you know have a definite yes or no answer to see how the pendulum responds. You should have the same responses each time for all your Yes and No answers as determined above. If you are getting conflicting answers or it doesn’t move at all, don’t worry, just cleanse the pendulum again and try again later or the following day.
My preferred way of working with a Pendulum is round in a circle for “Ready” or “Unsure”, back and forth for “Yes” and side to side for “No”. I will either use this freehand or over a simply painted wooden disk.
Once you have programmed your pendulum, keep it in a safe place, preferably in a bag for protection. Try not to let others handle it as their energies could disrupt your own connection with the pendulum and give you false readings. If this happens just cleanse and reprogram the pendulum again.
How to use your pendulum
The basic way to use a pendulum, is to rest your elbow on a table, pinch the cord at a length that feels comfortable for you (or the fob if you prefer), between your thumb and forefinger and allow the weight to hang freely, try to keep your hand as still as possible. Relax and clear your mind before concentrating on your question. Make sure the questions you ask are specific and not vague. Read the direction the pendulum swings to gain the answers you seek. Most often the questions would be phrased to give simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers.
Alternatively, you can put alphabets, numbers or charts on the table beneath the pendulum to get more specific answers. Or you can write all the possible answers of your question in a semi circle. When held over the lower centre point, the pendulum may swing towards the answer, alternatively, it may start to swing or spin when hovered over a word or number. If you need to determine a date to do something, use your pendulum over a calendar. Hold the pendulum over each date of the month, waiting until the pendulum registers an answer.
The pendulum can also be used for dowsing which is a technique for searching for underground water, minerals, ley lines, or anything invisible, by observing the changes in direction of the pendulum as you walk over land or pass it over any area you wish to search. It can also be used over a map. Many use a pendulum for determining which foods to eat by holding the pendulum over the actual foods or a menu. It’s often used for diagnosing diseases within a person’s body, some even use it for locating missing persons or finding underground gem deposits. The possibilities are endless and limited only by your own imagination.
Pendulum Tips
Use your pendulum regularly.
The more you practice the more you will become attuned to your pendulum and the better your ability will be to read it.
Try not to ask the same question more than once. It’s not healthy, learn to move on.
Don’t ask a question if you really don’t want to know the answer.
Always use the pendulum with good intentions.
Don’t rely solely on the pendulum for making major decisions, it should be used as a guide only.
Keep a small pendulum on a short cord or chain in your pocket or purse for quick decisions when out and about.
You might find it helpful to record your findings in a journal or notebook.
Clear your pendulum of any negative energies before and after each use.
The pendulum has always been associated as connecting with good forces that bring health and prosperity to the user. Using the pendulum, you can develop skills to achieve your potential, locate things, keep a check on your health, make decisions or just have fun choosing numbers for the lottery.
What will you use yours for?
I’m not the author just sharing the knowledge💜
Blessed be!

I decided to put some of my series' of stickers in a single post for the sake of brevity.
This is the D&D Core Classes Series, which are the stickers featured in the Goblin Grab Bags!
{shop link in pinned post}
ID: individual die-cut stickers depicting each core D&D Classes:
Sorcerer: a white-barked tree with a small, round medallion nestled in the roots of it. On the Medallion is a red finger-print.
Wizard: A purple spellbook, wreathed in magic that has several bookmarks in it. On the front cover is an eye, with a small crown above it. There is also a roll of paper behind it.
Cleric: two crossed cylindrical cases which presumably contain some sort of religious artifacts or texts. One is light green and blue, while the other is dark red and violet. There is a small halo of light around them.
Paladin: a blue kite shield engraved with an image of armored hands cupping a divine light on a dark purple background.
Bard: a hand harp made of blue wood sitting beside an orange, Venitian style mask

Quote
The stone in the Craft can represent several different things. Sometimes it is the central altar on which the other tools are displayed and offerings are made. It can also be an actual stone head or standing stone, sometimes phallic in shape, referred to as the Godstane or God Stone. In this form stone is an omphalus representing the Axis Mundi. It symbolises the Horned One and his solar phallic energy and can be used in initiation rites and sex magic. It can also take the form of a whetstone used to sharpen the blade of the sword or athame. Other forms of this ritual object are crystals used for scrying and healing, hagstones for protection, psychic self-defence and facilitating visionary dreams, and 'Troy stones' for trance work. The latter is a flat stone inscribed or painted with a spiral or maze design or any other suitable magical sigil. This symbol is meditated upon and slowly traced with a finger until a light trance is achieved allowing the user to contact the spirit world. In general stones are powerful magical objects and natural psychic batteries that can store magical energy.

Note
how much do the main folks in feyfeller carry around on their person typically? who's a lighter traveler and who over prepares? do they have anything interesting with them?
Sliabh
-For Feyhunting gear she has her belt (Iron Horseshoe, Hagstone, Knife), her breastplate under her jacket. In her jacket pockets it’s matches, iron nails, and plants for burning (certain flowers can ward Fey). She also just carries small change.
-As for travel gear, she usually just has a small tent pack and a pan and kettle and cup! She’s pretty good about foraging on travels but sometimes she might buy some small rations.
Tib
-On his person he has lots of cash, his trusty knife, various stubs of paper, toothpicks, matches, and some cigarette rolling stuff!
-His travel gear is a small tent pack and lots of alcohol, he has Sliabh as a cook so he’s set.
Essie
-She also carries some cash on her! The rest is just paper stubs and such. Her main gear is her case for doctorin’ jobs!
-She has about the same as Sliabh’s but she buys rations and some alcohol for the road.
Adrianka
-Adrianka doesn’t really carry a lot on her person save for cash and a pencil! Maybe a moleskin but she doesn’t like having a lot on her person
-When she starts adventuring she gets a small tent pack! She also drags and easel and painting stuff around.
Aurora
-Aurora travels with so many weird trinkets and weird components for the most part. She does carry a knife and some money though!
-She also carries what Sliabh does and is pretty good about fending for herself!

Some Witch Crafts
Aaa, so what’s up? I found some air dry clay at Walmart a while back on clearance for $2.50. The result was this. I made myself a broke ass cauldron, bowls/small dishes, a bowl lid box thing, and a necklace. I used acrylic paint, a broken necklace chain, fake pearl beads, and a few rhinestones to bedazzle.
Themes? Gold seems to be a front-runner. After I made my moon dish, I did want to make a sun bowl. The original design didn’t quite work out as I didn’t have a lot of clay left at that point so I had to scrap it. The bowl with a face is supposed to represent the sun. As a tribute to the scrapped idea, I also did a very small sunflower bowl. I wanted a hagstone necklace but I didn’t have one so I made a ripoff one from the clay. They aren’t perfect but I’m proud of myself. I really wish I had tools to use, I can’t count how many times I wanted a rolling pin.
The picture with the wand and moon dish includes other lil crafts I made. Inside of that bag is some runes!
I have some other clay pieces, that I made in high school, but not with air dry clay. If anyone is interested, I’ll post those. I use a few of those bad boys on my altar.
