Understanding Ovulation and Fertility: Facts to Help You Get Pregnant
Ovulation refers to the release of an egg from the ovary, which typically occurs midway through the menstrual cycle. Understanding when ovulation occurs is essential for couples trying to conceive, as it marks the most fertile window in a woman’s cycle.

having an afab body is so silly, i'm exhausted for no reason today and now my lower right abdomen is hurting so i'm like well either i'm getting appendicitis (unlikely but a constant fear because when i was little my dad told me he got it) or just having mittelschmerz (it's definitely mittelscherz but let me be dramatic)

Shoutout to all the uterus-having people on here that talk about their ovulation pain. The first time I got it I had a complete melt down because of the almost constant pain and the stress of not knowing what is going on. Initially I thought it was appendicitis, but after having my pathologist scrap that I checked in with my gyno. She said the pain was normal and probably related to my pcos. Problem is, she didn’t really elaborate further on what I was to expect and what was reason for panic. Both of my doctors half-assedly brushed me off, moved on and didn’t take one minute to explain things to me so that I wouldn’t panic or feel in the dark. The internet didn’t help either. The only way I have found some calm is by reading the experiences shared on here. So I thank you all for doing so, and in the process giving me some sort of clarity with which to navigate this frustrating experience. In a world where the healthcare system ignores us, I am happy we at least can find some comfort in each other.

did you know if you have a hysterectomy and they leave the ovaries, you are still ovulating and can have ovulation pain as the ovary yeets the egg out into your abdominal cavity? ask me how i know

Holy f*ck!
Any other people with a uterus experience mittelschmerz (aka pain during ovulation)? I don't get it every month, but sometimes (like today) it literally feels like someone is stabbing my ovary.
I cannot get over how we are just expected to deal with this pain! There are no treatments nor many studies into it. Just the recommendation to take some pain meds and get over it.
WTF

Ovulation is a phase in a women’s menstrual cycle that plays a major role in fertility.
Ovulation pain is caused due to many reasons such as enlargement of the follicle and release of eggs from the ovarian sac and ruptured follicle. As the egg bursts from the follicles, you start bleeding causing irritation in the abdominal lining; causing ovulation pain. Women feel ovulation pain before, during, or right after egg release.

i’m just so scared bc i have this. pain. in my lower right abdomen. i have had it for years. i thought it was something with my ovary but i’ve had several ultrasounds and a CT scan and a pelvic exam and everything looks fine. sometimes it hurts bad enough that i’ve gone to the hospital thinking of appendicitis. but usually it just hurts a little bit, like a dull pain in that area. i have no other symptoms, that i know of (i have other shit wrong with me lmao)
i’m just. it’s scaring me. because i don’t know what’s wrong. and my doctor says we’ve eliminated the dangerous issues (such as cancer, or some issue with my ovary) but then why is it hurting?? it has to be hurting for a reason. your organs don’t just hurt for no reason. and there’s not much else i can do rn so i feel hopeless.
i’ve heard of chronic appendicitis and i’m wondering if it’s that. but then, what? i just have to wait until it ruptures?? and possibly die???? like idk what to fucking do

What role does ovulation play in the process of child conception?
Ovulation plays a crucial role in the process of child conception. Here's how it works:
Ovulation: Ovulation is the release of a mature egg (ovum) from a woman's ovary. It typically occurs in the middle of her menstrual cycle, around day 14 in a 28-day cycle. The egg is released into the fallopian tube.
Fertilization Window: Ovulation marks the most fertile period in a woman's menstrual cycle. Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for several days, so having intercourse in the days leading up to and during ovulation increases the chances of sperm meeting the egg.
Fertilization: If a sperm successfully reaches the egg in the fallopian tube and fertilizes it, it forms a zygote. This is the beginning of a potential pregnancy.
Embryo Development: The zygote starts dividing and developing into an embryo. It travels down the fallopian tube towards the uterus.
Implantation: Once the embryo reaches the uterus, it may implant into the uterine lining. If successful, this results in pregnancy.
Without ovulation and the release of an egg, conception cannot occur. Understanding one's menstrual cycle and pinpointing ovulation is crucial for couples trying to conceive naturally. For those with fertility issues, assisted reproductive technologies like IVF can be used to facilitate conception, even without natural ovulation. I’m going to try and drink more water and see if that helps, because today when I was out I actually felt like I was about to faint. I felt oddly tired and I am worried that it’s more than dehydration. Hopefully drinking water will help!
