ugh. OKAY, so... the tower and desktop combination is just weird. I have, on one occasion, run a "server" that was two towers, and the original PC supported a DUAL-DESKTOP mode, but both types together? nonsense.

dual monitor was rare but possible in 1999 (win98 added native support), so I think the best interpretation here is that this is actually two computers. maybe the one on the left is missing the keyboard and mouse because it's being used as some kind of server for the other computer? I used a little case like that to run my first linux server, which was also acting as a router for my internal network.

The OS is weird. The icons above the menu-bar look like win98, the dialog box is windows 3.x, the menu-bar icons on the bottom are pure os X (although they remind me of like a web-TV kinda system, like hotkeys for email/internet/etc), but the greyscale is very classic mac system. Actually it kinda reminds me of C64's GEOS, but GEOS was very classic-mac.

Like most CRT-filters, they turned the scanlines up WAY TOO HIGH. No CRT I've ever seen looked that fucking terrible. The monitor buttons are a bit odd: You didn't get monitors with buttons on the front until long after they were all color... but maybe it's a color monitor that's showing a monochrome OS?

as for the floppies: yeah. There are multiple mistakes here.

5.25" in 1999 is just silly. If you still had 5.25" disk drives in 1999, you were intentionally doing some retrocomputing stuff. For reference, around 2001 my PC repair job would specifically ask me to copy data off 5.25" disks, because they didn't have any 5.25" drives anymore, and I was their only tech who did.

The other mistake is that they have THREE floppy drives. so the PC doesn't really support that, natively? You can do some tricks and make it work (The youtuber Tech Tangents did a video on how it could be done), but realistically two was the normal max.

The final mistake is that all the drive activity lights are on. Those are only supposed to be on while the drive is reading or writing... and I don't see any disks in those drives! Let alone a situation that would involve turning all three on at once (I don't think that's even possible on most floppy controllers!)

In fact, the main time you'd end up with the drive lights stuck on like that is when you've installed the drive cable upside down. That ends up with them getting stuck on and non-functional. So this computer looks, to me, like it was put together incorrectly and no one noticed.

I don't believe that font would be on a black & white retro computer. Nope. Too smooth and too big.

There's also a USB icon on that OS: I don't think there's ever been a monochrome OS that supported OS, and looking at that computer case I don't believe that it has USB. Maybe the tower would, but the desktop? no.

As a heads up, I'm going to be converting this blog to be mostly my main/pokemon blog. I've been thinking about it for a while tbh and when it comes down to it, I've been feeling a huge disconnect from selfshipping as a whole for a while. It was nice and a great way for me to cope before I was able to get mental health care, but it's definitely more of a hobby now more than anything. Don't get me wrong, I still love my funky little gals and guys and it's fun to think about them in different scenarios! I'm still going to always lose my shit over Piers! But honestly? All of my "inserts" have basically come into their own, if that makes sense. They are not me. They may share a name with me sometimes but that's definitely an OC, that and I'm too lazy to rename the various Mandas and Jeannes across franchises cause that shit is a lot of work. And besides, literally everyone who has made a character has put some of themself into it and I know that I'm not wrong--

Now, what does this mean for me/the blog?

I'm still gonna post how I feel like posting. Things are going to be a lot less selfship focused. If anything, I'm leaning more on the side of oc x canon and oc x oc cause that's where I'm finding more enjoyment. No more fancy carrd with f/os and all that happy stuff, it's just going to be an about. No long ass dni honestly who the hell even takes the time to read them anymore (I mean, I do, but not the point I'm trying to make here). Granted my dni was never long in the first place but kgjwjdjejejjfayhs still. I'm still deciding if I'm going to go through the blogs I follow and trim things up. If I unfollow you, by no means is it anything against you and there are no hard feelings on my end. And if you'd like to unfollow me due to my focus shift, I encourage that.

Honestly over all, I haven't had a lot of energy to be publicly online in a while, anyway. It's what happens when you work full time, go to school part time, and have some mental disorders and a chronic illness that's been fucking you over since you were 2. The burnout is real lmao. I'd rather enjoy myself when I'm on tumblr than be all bleh, ya know?

I mean this when I say I did enjoy my time when I was selfship focused, but I think that part of my life is... Not quite behind me, but not a major part of my future anymore. In some aspects, it made my mental health worse, if I'm being honest, and I should have never let it get to that point. Granted that was before I was able to get diagnosed and start my mental health journey, but still. Should have stopped as soon as I felt myself not doing okay. So let's go through some basic background headcanons first, shall we.

Sova's parents either died when he was too young to properly remember them or when he was around 5-7, leaving him to be raised by his babushka

If his parents died later, I like the idea of Sova's mum having been either a soldier or an athlete (archery/shooting ofc) and being the one who got Sova his first bow / taught him how to shoot which is one of the reasons why he continued to practice and ultimately became a sniper since it makes him feel connected to his mother

His childhood is rather uneventful, maybe they're tight on money / struggling at times since they're living off what babushka can earn on the side and whatever pension they're receiving thanks to his parents so he learns at an early age how to forage/hunt to make ends meet

Joins the military as early as they allow because he figures this way he can get a stable income and support his babka at home as well, plus he'd be following in his mom's footsteps

He excels in the military, quickly being recognised for his exceptional aim and ends up in some kind of special forces where he gets to hone his skills further until he's established a reputation for himself

I like to think that it's during this time when he first meets Brimstone, maybe a joined OP with US special forces and they become fast friends, sprinkle a little mentorship in there, possibly Brim saving Sova's life disregarding his own safety

Which is why later when Brimstone is given the first order to form a special team, Sova is one of the first people he recruits and, of course, Sova instantly agrees

His feeling like he owes Brimstone only adds to his habit of overworking himself for the Val protocol because he will NOT disappoint Brim

He's a good little soldier, you tell him to jump he asks how high

Oh god I have so many headcanons for my sweet son, I could go on forever BUT you didn't ask for a novel so here's just a few random ones

Due to his military background he's one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the protocol and takes over training the other, less experienced agents

He definitely has a soft spot for the younger agents, especially Gekko, Neon, KJ etc.

He pushes himself extra hard, insisting on running more simulations / practicing more than the others because he has to keep up with his Radiant/genius/augmented squad mates and preserve the only edge he has in this fight

Maybe he doesn't always wear his cybernetic eye because it sometimes overloads his brain/overstimulates him

NOW before I ramble on forever... you asked me about Chamber/Sova and let me tell you YES. Yes Good. I absolutely love Somber ♥ ( I wrote a little Somber OS at some point and I have at least five wips for them if only the writer's block didn't beat my ass all the time)

Not only do I personally think Chamber is hot and I want to see him play my babygirl like a fiddle but there's like so much potential. Because Chamber's easy, flirty nature is so different from Sova's, especially if you headcanon Sova as not having a whole lot of experience in the romantic/sexual department, which, chef's kiss tbh.

Plus, Chamber's more... grey-ish morality, his 'am I really on your team or are you just part of my plan' attitude, clashes so nicely with Sova who clearly follows a very rigid moral code.

I really love the idea of Chamber having a fun time getting under Sova's skin and the poor owl not having a single clue how to deal with it???

Don't get me started on Chamber using his indefinite resources to spoil Sova and Sova being so uncomfortable with all the fancy gifts...

Also guns. Let's talk about guns. Because I see Chamber's Tour de Force and I can't help but think 'what if he allows Sova to use it, or they get into a situation where Sova is forced to use it to protect them'?? How exactly do Chamber's powers work? Does he FEEL it when someone else touches his guns???? Is it an erogenous zone

I mean Chamber clearly respects Sova's skills (how could you not) and I just see him as the kind of man who sees something/someone he wants and then stops at nothing until it's HIS. Featuring Sova who is both confused by the blatant flirting and totally NOT down to indulge Chamber.

You can also go with the trope of Chamber being purely interested in getting Sova into bed playboy style while Sova is the 'i don't do one night stands if i date someone it's bc i'm serious aboutt hem' kinda guy. Chamber who is used to getting what he wants is both frustrated and determined to win him over to the point where he doesn't even realise he's developing actual feelings until it's too late~~ whoops~ (damn i wanna write that lowkey)

Pode ser bem frequente, afinal ele sempre se vê ocupado e ele sabe que querendo ou não ele é a causa de sua tristeza, então pode separar um espaço em sua casa para muitos vasos vazios para guardar as flores que ele coletar no caminho de volta pra casa.

Ciúmes, desconfiança, rancor quão vulnerável ele pode ser?

Cellbit não é uma pessoa que vai se deixar levar por qualquer sentimento obsoleto, então não vai fazer cenas de ciúmes em publico nem mesmo drama, ele é bem realista e ele não mede suas palavras quando presencia algo que o deixa na corda bamba.

Se você ousar fazer ciúmes á ele, como beijar/abraçar/dormir com qualquer outro companheiro de paternidade como Pac, Mike, Felps, Forever e principalmente Quackity, ele queimará em chamas silenciosas, e se você o ver quieto e parecer relaxado por fora, apenas corra ou planeje muito bem sua próxima ação, essa cena/momento ficará para sempre em sua cabeça e ele guardará certo rancor, pior ficará se for Quackty o causador desses momentos de traição, provavelmente Cellbit vai adorar explodir certas casas.

Se você for pego com outro sem ser alguém do grupo, prepare-se para um confronto, não diretamente, mas ele o cercará e fara do ser um prisioneiro numa camada mais abaixa do seu escritório de detetive. Ele é muito bom em causar danos psicológicos e ele o fará.

Ele mente, trai muito facilmente?

Cellbit mente muito bem, essa sua natureza infame é herança de seu passado como prisioneiro, seus planos ardilosos de como manipular os outros ao redor ainda permanece como cicatriz que não vai se curar, ele fixará em sua mente que se ele mentiu é pela a proteção de sua família, que os meios justificam o fim.

Mesmo com isso em mente ele não é traíra, não completamente.  Ele mesmo lhe dirá que manter vínculos afetivos/amorosos requer esforço e que isso leva tempo, ele valoriza suas ações e não desperdiçaria seu esforço arranjando um/uma amante, afirmando que é uma pura perda de tempo precioso.

About Discord Servers

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but, I don't join Discord servers. Why? Simply put, I block people for the sake of my own mental health. Some of these people are within the communities I reside most often in. However, Discord servers often mean I have to bend my block list to get along in and have a comfortable time in said server. 9 times out of 10 the instincts that made me block someone were correct. Therefore I prefer my blog because I can have an easier time curating my interactions with the community.

That being said I am totally down to chat with you on discord if you want to add me! Chatting one on one gives me more power to block people that make me uncomfortable and avoid people on my blocklist.

hey all! i don't think i've actually done one of these before so! it's a new year, i'll branch out. :) i'd love to make more friends in the self ship community

studied japanese in college and am fluent, i lived in japan for a few years, often go back and forth for work-related things.

i've been self-shipping/doing canon x oc my entire life and don't plan to stop

main f/os and fandoms are in my pinned

usually i don't use self-inserts but OCs in my pairings--OCs which sometimes share certain similarities with myself or do things i think are interesting!

i'm not terribly active with making content but i do make it in the form of fics, usually--but i've been known to write music and write poetry

i do have an ao3 but there's nothing self-ship related on it. if you want to read some self-ship fics that i'm proud of, they're here.

main fandom right now is vampire: the masquerade (also BG3) but i've been in several over the years, including The Magnus Archives

I don't have a DNI necessarily, due to the fact that i feel that it won't really stop anyone from accessing my content. however I liberally will block people who I don't want to hear from or whose content squicks me out. i also block those that share my two main f/os, not out of any ill will, but i just don't want to see it.

as stated, most F/O's i'm alright with sharing except for my two main ones. (jasper and isaac). please note that i will not share jasper whatsoever.

The Shared Hearth: An Open Gaming Weekend!

The Open Hearth Gaming Community is proud to present the Shared Hearth, a free weekend of open online gaming taking place Friday, November 10th through Sunday, November 12th, 2023. This event is completely free. Anyone can play.

Signups will be handled via Playabl with the Open Hearth Gaming Community. You can sign up for the community, which gets you access to signups when they open. Once you register for the community and the admins have confirmed it, you’ll be set up. Right now we have a dozen+ events on the calendar, with more expected: OSE, Hearts of Wulin, Yazeba, MotW, OUr Haunt, FIST, and more

All events will open for signup on Tuesday, October 24th at Noon Eastern US time.

All Shared Hearth events will follow the Community Code of Conduct, and all GMs will be expected to explain and use a layered set of safety tools (Lines & Veils, X-Card, etc). We expect players and GMs to respect those rules and systems to help ensure our event is fun and comfortable for all participants. We will also have channels on our Discord server to contact in the event of issues with play during the event.
