In a 2007 interview with "Wooden Toys", Julian retells the Boosh origin story, with a few additions!
Julian: “Noel and I were on the same bill doing stand-up. I went back to his place afterwards, and he invited me in. He said, in ominous tones, “You know if you come in, you can never leave, and I said “that’s OK, I haven’t got much on” and thus was born the Boosh. Two guys, a dream, a wheelbarrow of hope, four magnets, and a denim butterfly.”

Just Fantasy
A Used As Bait fic
If you were to look up the definition of 'horrible person' on the internet it would probably say something to extent of: someone who starts a fanfic, gives you multiple chapters of build to the big crescendo, writes a cliffhanger chapter, and then disappears for 2 years.
And for that, i am very sorry. I honestly wasn't going to finish this, but every couples of weeks i would wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, panting and panicking our precious little flower that is Vince Noir still stuck with Lyle and remember that i'm that one that put him there and i should probably get him out sometime soon. And then, i went back and re-read the previous chapters to get myself caught up with what exactly was the trauma that i put him through and voila! here's a new chapter some 2 years later...
IM HERE TO RESCUE YOU VINCE!
For those who need a recap, or those who may only just now be stumbling upon this, you can find all the previous Used As Bait chapters here
“And how was your day today?” Lyle asked from the kitchen, the smell of grilled onions filling the room from the pan in which they were currently grilling. Homemade burgers it seemed was on the menu tonight. Beef, buns, lettuce, tomato, cheese… the lot. Including those onions. Something Lyle knew Vince didn’t like, but he didn’t care. Lyle liked onions, so onions they were having.
Vince wasn’t going to complain, though. If the onions made Lyle happy, then so be it.
Vince shrugged, thinking back to his adventures for the past 9 hours alone.
He cleaned, he tried his hand at cooking – someone really should have told him how to use an oven before today – he tidied himself up before Lyle came home. All the usual things. “Nothing too extraordinary.”
Oh, and the visit from Akala.
“Your Shaman popped in for a visit, though.”
The sound of the tongs scraping against the pan echoed through the air, Lyle’s breathe caught in his throat as he must have swallowed down the wrong pipe, coughing and spluttering suddenly as his arm came up to cover his mouth, eyes shooting across the room to where Vince sat on the floor. “What?”
Vince started to move on instinct to go and help Lyle from his coughing fit, but when he saw Lyle’s concerned eye he opted to stay right where he was. “Oh- your, uh, Shaman.. Alkana? Kalana?”
“Akala.”
“Yeah, him.” Vince beamed. “He was here earlier.”
Lyle’s lips thinned. “Why? What did he say?” He began walking away from the stove, hands coming to rest on the counter before him to almost stop himself from toppling over from shock any second.
“Nothing really. He was a bit weird at first, asking me a lot of dumb questions. But he said he just wanted to check in on me.”
Lyle took a deep breathe, eyes never leaving from Vince as he studied him. “And what did you say to him?”
Vince could tell now that he’d done something to upset Lyle. He didn’t mean to. Lyle asked about his day so Vince told him? Vince swallowed, taking a somewhat shaky breath himself as he pondered his answer. He didn’t need to lie to Lyle because he didn’t say anything wrong, right? “Um..” He started.
“What. Did. You. Say. Vince?” Lyle repeated, more emphasis plastered behind his words now.
“Well, nothing, really. I told him I was okay – that we were okay. There was nothing to worry about. I don’t really know why he was here to begin with, actually… he didn’t take anything with him for potions or Shaman stuff, ya know?” Vince tried to soothe it over, ensuring Lyle that everything was fine because he truly believed it was. Akala was Lyle’s Shaman – they were friends. Friends don’t betray friends.
“And what? He just left? Just like that?” Lyle probed deeper, clearly sensing some sort of threat or danger that Vince didn’t see.
Vince nodded. “ Just like that.”
“He didn’t say anything else to you? Think hard here Vince, it’s important.” Lyle’s knuckles were nearly going as white as Vince’s were on the apple he threatened Akala with only hours earlier from where they gripped onto the counter top, clearly trying to remain calm.
Vince did think. Hard. What was Lyle wanting? Nothing stood out to him from his conversation with Akala that would cause any need for concern from the other man.. “I swear, that was it. He said sorry and then he just vanished.”
“Sorry?” Lyle’s head cocked to the side.
“Yeah.”
“Sorry for what?”
Vince shrugged. “I dunno – for stopping by unannounced, I suppose? It is a little rude.” He pressed. “What if I was in the shower? Blimey, I don’t want him seeing me like that!” Instinctively Vince began covering up, bringing his hands to his chest to further prove his point of discomfort.
Lyle didn’t seem to believe it. He paused, humming to himself as his gaze fell somewhere between Vince and the bench counter he was leaning on, pondering. The silence continued on for a few seconds, Vince left awkwardly unawares as to what was going through Lyle’s mind and why he was so interested in this briefest of conversations – maybe Akala wasn’t allowed to be here? Was Vince not supposed to have talked to him? Was it a test that he had failed?
The silence ate away at him, so in response he ate away at his bottom lip, chewing at it nervously as he waited for Lyle to snap at him or berate him – just something.
When he couldn’t take it anymore, he decided that anything was better than nothing, even if was in the wrong if would rather Lyle just tell him already. “Are you okay?” He nudged, his fingers fidgeting on the carpet beneath him.
Lyle seemed to remember his presence, being snapped out of his train of thought with a deep inhale, like he had forgotten to breathe. He looked up, offering Vince his best smile as if nothing was wrong and he hadn’t had just spaced out. “Everything’s fine, dear. I’m just going to make a quick call, alright?” He said, making his way out of the kitchen, hand reaching into his pants pocket to pull out his phone, clearly moving on from this conversation with Vince and proceeding it with someone else.
Vince opened his mouth to protest, to question further about Lyle’s odd behaviour, but he knew better than that. Lyle had given the instructions about what was going to happen from here and those instructions didn’t involve Vince.
As he closed his mouth, ready to sit in silence until Lyle returned, continuing with the destruction of his bottom lip in nervous habit, he heard the muffled voice of Lyle from down the hall. “-‘ve got a problem…”
-
At least 30 minutes would have had to have passed before Lyle emerged from the bedroom again, his demeanour carrying even more worry and urgency than it did before. Vince looked up when he heard the other man come back suddenly, waiting to be yelled at for leaving his spot when he realised Lyle had left the stove on about 5 minutes after he initially walked away, but no such outburst came. Instead..
“Go grab your things. We need to leave.”
It took a second for Vince to understand the words properly, as he stared dumfounded at Lyle. “Huh?” He said like a proper ballbag.
Lyle made his way to the pantry, pulling out a duffle bag that Vince had never seen before, seemingly with stuff pre-packed and ready to go. He didn’t spare Vince another glance, simply repeating with more authority, “Get your things!”
Vince knew he was walking on a thin string right now, as he slowly started getting up to his feet, but he still wasn’t quite sure what Lyle was wanting him to do. “But I don’t have any-“ He began.
“I put a bag away for you in the wardrobe in the bedroom, above the shoes and next to the watches. Hurry!” He insisted, spinning back around but still not looking at the confused raven haired man standing in the living room watching it all unfold and still have no clue what was actually going on.
Why did Lyle have a bag for him? When did he put that together? Where were they going? Why all of a sudden? Who was on the phone? What the hell is going on?!
Sensing the urgency and realising he wasn’t going to get any answers any time soon, Vince scrambled from the living room and down the hall to their bedroom, making his way to the wardrobe in search of the bag. After not really being sure what type of bag his was looking for, Vince felt pretty confident he’d found the right one when a very out-of-place floral decorated bag showed itself to him in the exact place Lyle told him to look. “There’s a few shirts in there! Put one on!” Came Lyle’s voice again, sounding like it had moved from the kitchen and somewhere else further down the house, but Vince didn’t focus too much on that and moreso on the instructions. Put a shirt on.
Ever since day 1 Lyle had never let him put on a shirt unless he had guests coming over and he needed to look ‘presentable’ or to ‘stop wandering eyes’. Based on the urgency of the situation, Vince didn’t think they had anyone coming over, in fact, Lyle specifically said they were leaving so why would he need to put on a shirt?
Surely Vince must have misheard him. “Wait… what did you say?” He shouted back, hands moving on their own to open the bag and peak inside. After a couple moments of silence, Vince assumed Lyle must have been somewhere else in the house and unable to hear him, so not wanting to dare put on a shirt if Lyle didn’t actually tell him to, Vince made his way out of the bedroom for validation of the demand. “Lyle?” He called out just as he made his way out from the hallway, reemerging into the living room where he expected to see either an empty space or Lyle fussing around still.
Well, he did see Lyle.
But he wasn’t alone.
The voice rang through the air, as smooth as it ever was, almost a fairytale that Vince hadn’t heard since he was a child, the sound of it causing goosebumps to raise on his fair skin as he stared into those brown eyes in pure shock.
Howard breathed, ever so quietly, as though he was afraid speaking too loud would scare him off like a lost and wounded animal. “Vince?”
-
HA. Imagine dropping a chapter out of nowhere and STILL leaving it on a cliffhanger. Couldn't be me.

I thought Wonka was delightful, whimsical, musical (seriously the other two Wonka films were musicals, why was this such a shock?) and appropriately eccentric. It's not really an origin story in the "here's a deep, complex backstory building up to how the main story happened" way. But there are a few nods to the story, and specifically the 1971 film.
BUT Timothee Chalamet did his own thing! He wasn't doing what Wilder did, nor what Depp did. I was pleasantly surprised by his performance. He wasn't afraid to go a bit goofy. So, if you're worried that this is a Dark, Edgy Wonka film that takes itself seriously... yeah nah. There are serious emotional moments but they're well-placed.
The whole cast was so much fun. The villains were so Dahl (campy evil - yes there's themes of corruption and greed, so while it's not super complex, it's still got social commentary), the visuals were bright and creative, the songs were fun, and there was just a lot of heart to this film. I mean, I'd expect nothing less from the director of Paddingon (and the Mighty Boosh- yeah, I just realized it's the same Paul King!)
All in all, I had fun. I had plenty of laughs, and the inclusion and re-contextualization of a certain iconic pure and imaginative song made me cry... if you know, you know. I'm glad this was the last film I saw this year in cinemas.
I give it 4.5/5. Taking half a star off because we needed more Hugh Grant as Lofty the Oompa Loompa.

In 1999, Julian and Noel described their first meeting to “It’s Irrelevant” zine:
Noel: “When I saw him doing stand-up I thought "Wow, that's what I want to do". No-one was laughing at him but at least he was doing it! I met him at the Hellfire Club in Wycombe and he was really odd.” Julian: “I was being a character, a weird geography teacher.” Noel: “All my friends saw him as well and said "There's a bloke that you'd really like who's doing the same thing as you, he's really funny but he hasn't got any jokes". At the gig Julian said to me "Boothby Graffoe's on in a minute, I really like him, does anyone want a drink?" So he bought me a drink, said "I love this bloke", and then suddenly went out into the night air without his jacket, and I had to chase after him to give him his jacket!” Julian: “If you hadn't given me that jacket we wouldn't be working together today.”

Is your top of the favourites still the same?
No. It will never be the same. As I told before, I was extremely disappointed in James Acaster, coz his jokes about Noel were awful, so he’s not in the top of my favourites anymore. I know that it was just for the show, but he gone too far this time. I’m not going to remove my posts with him, even with Noel behind, but I’m still offended for him. That’s why my top looks like that now (he’s not even in top 20!)
Noel is upper than all this tops!
Tumblr media
Top 20 after Noel Fielding
1. Dave Brown
Played Bollo the gorilla in The Mighty Boosh. I love his photo works. And I think he’s a great guy, no worse than Noel. Yeah, he probably doesn’t look so extraordinary, but still awesome :) x
Tumblr media
2. Joe Lycett
I have told already that I luved him after Taskmaster. He's actually lovely, smiling boy. I'm really enjoying watching the shows with him. Yes, he looks silly sometimes. But it makes him adorable. And he looks pretty :)
Tumblr media
3. Sean Hughes
This man was the first reason why I started watching Never Mind The Buzzcocks, before I found out about Noel. I'm genuinly cried when he passed away, was depressed quite a long time. Now I calmed already. I still luv him and rewatching old shows where he took a part with a light nostalgy. I think he was a nice person.
Tumblr media
4. Alan Davies
Looking at Alan on QI, I always thought that he is a big kid. Always laughing, joking around and laughs contagiously, being dummy :) Then I watched his show As Yet Untitled. Quite comfortable and soft dude. This show made me to change opinion about Alan in better way, so now he's my favourite.
Tumblr media
5. Simon Le Bon
True legend! Strong voice, looking gorgeous and having a great sence of humour! It's a frontman of my favourite band Duran Duran. I was Duranie before Noel. Being Duranie I found out about Never Mind The Buzzcocks where Simon took a part. Then it become my favourite show! And I still in love with this band <3
Tumblr media
6. Rhod Gilbert
When I seen him in NMTB first time, he seemed too rough and angry. Then he took a role as permanent host of the final BBC series. I was wrong, he is a nice guy, just brutal ;) Although he couldn't rise the show, he's still great!
Tumblr media
7. Phill Jupitus
I've never been his fan. But I still respect him for a long time being on Never Mind The Buzzcocks. This show could be cancelled much shorter if he would leave it behind.
Tumblr media
8. Brian Cox (Professor)
I'm not a fan of the scient, but this guy is not just a Professor! He also a great actor! Entire The Universe musical explains everything! All you need is just to watch it to realize how wonderful is it! <;3
Tumblr media
9. Ed Gamble
I found out about this pretty guy from Mock The Week. He is so positive and funny, always laughing :D Sometimes being rough a bit, but still very nice. My interest to him become stronger after Taskmaster and then after The Great British Bake Off and also I like his podcasts :)
Tumblr media
10. Ed Byrne
Another Ed that I started interest in after Mock The Week. It's an Irish crazy comedian. He can be mad as hell then say anything unusual and laughing hard. They are obviously good friends with Dara O'Brain :) Their tandem was a classic. I'm not a fan of the show, but I will miss it (BBC axed it), still very nice <3
Tumblr media
11. Lliana Bird
I respect this woman first of all for Noel! She gave him a big support that helped him to be alive now. It's a big love! Who knows full story, will guess what I mean! It's not just a beautiful lady!
Tumblr media
12. Aisling Bea
Irish female comedian with original voice. She is beautiful and interesting person. Started like her after QI and Big Fat Quiz :)
Tumblr media
13. Chris Ramsey
One of the fewest celebrities that I like firstly for the laugh and beauty :D Started to love him after Never Mind The Buzzcocks
Tumblr media
14. Eddie Izzard
Interesting drag comedian. He likes dressing as a female, but still staying a man. Started interest after his tandem with Noel in Big Fat Quiz.
Tumblr media
15. Kevin Scott Richardson
It’s the oldest member of Backstreet Boys. When I was younger, he was my favourite. And I still like him. He still looks beautiful and young :)
Tumblr media
16. Greg Davies
I always respected him, from the first season of Taskmaster. But after that reviving of NMTB, there were some rumours that he helped the Sky team with that! And now he’s on my top!
Tumblr media
17. Ricky Wilson
During the period when I was Duranie, I found out about Kaiser Chiefs. I didn't knew anything about them at all, but their lead singer Ricky Wilson interested me. He was a little chubby then and his voice was similar with young Simon Le Bon. It was the song I Predict Riot. Then I found information about him and realized that there is nothing in common between these two singers. Years later, Ricky lost weight and became a handsome man. But for me, he's always been cool. I like him :)
Tumblr media
18. Lee Mack
True legend of Would I Lie To You! But I stareted respect him much earlier! Whe he hosted NMTB! I'm surprising, how the hell he didn't become a permanent host??? He would me amazing! His legendary "BAATMAAN!" explains all :D
Tumblr media
19. Paul Foot
Not quite fan, but he’s so damn hilarious! I’d be happy to see him in NMTB again, obviously in Noel’s team. They’re both worth each other :)
Tumblr media
20. Martin Kemp
I can’t say that I’m a fan of Spandau Ballet, but after the last Never Mind The Buzzcocks without Noel there, Martin Kemp was the one adequate guest. He didn’t make dirty jokes about Noel or anyone else and was unbelievably polite. So I liked him and started to respect. Quite deserved!

Monthly Muppets Madness: Sammy J and Randy in Bin Night (Comissoin for WeirdKev27)
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy muppety faces and welcome back to Monthly Muppets! My look at all things muppet, from the troupe themselves, to other works by jim henson to the many things inspired by his fine work.
And tonight is bin night as we look at the australian comedy duo of Sammy J and Randy Feltface and their 2012 special Bin Night. I first found out about this duo after Kev had found out about this duo from Lachey V, another long time patron on this blog, and wanted me to cover their show Ricketts Lane, which looks delightfully insane in the vein of british comedies like The Mighty boosh or Snuffbox. Sadly so far we haven't been able to find it anywhere in the us and attempts to rip it off Lachey's dvd's didn't quite work. So while I fully intend to cover Rickett's Lane at some point, for now we're doing Bin Night to still give these boys the spotlight.
The Duo's origin seem simple enough: Randy came from Heath McIvor's long time love of puppetry, having according to wikipedia been practicing since the tender age of 13. McIvor was tasked by a friend to do a show called "what is bullying to you" and needing a third puppet that could be unisex, Randy was born. While the show didn't go off well, McIvor liked the puppet and started performing with him, picking up steam.
He eventually met Sammy J when the two were double billed and they hit it off, soon becoming a double act. Nowadays the two aren't performing together as Randy has moved here to the US and Sammy is still in austrilia doing a show on ABC, but it's clear if the two wanted to get back together they could and it dosen't seem like any big split happened. They simply had other stuff they wanted to do and parted ways. I'm defintely up to look at Randy's solo material eventaully if anyone's intrested
For now we're looking at bin night. Bin Night has a very simple premise: Sammy J and Randy have someone sneaking their bags into their trash bins, and have decide to stake it out. various other nonsense insues including a feast, living shovels, murder, furry cosplay, and trips to machu pichu. You can find out about it all under the cut.
So the setup I mentiond is simple as is the set for this one: i'ts just the duo's yard, their house, and the bin. There's plenty of other props, backup dancers for the feast song, and what have you but it's a scaled down two man show almost entirely focused on these two idiots attempts to make it through the night.
Luckily Sammy J and Randy are strong characters; Sammy J is a tight ass, putting most of his faith in overcomplicated plans that have to go to the letter and annoy randy at how long they take. Randy meanwhile is a bit more loosey goosey and impuslive, the kind of guy who'd gladly sneak into a musuem benifit next to the building he's been peeing on to bum free food.
Sammy J drives most of the plot but it works well. Not only is the contrast of the muppet being the sane one of the two great, but Sammy takes your usual straight man to hilariously up his own ass lengths that lead to Randy barely parsing what he's doing. For instance Sammy J had a security system installed and insists it's state of the art and great.. despite all it's acomplished so far being accusing Randy of being a pedophile due to how the system SHOUTS "alert alert pedophile" for reasons, getting him arrested for trying to get into his own house, and getting him on the sex offenders registry. Not only that you have to close the door JUST RIGHT or your locked out, which naturally happens to our heroes. It's a joke that could easily fall or simply lean on being "lol pedophile".. but just keeps escalting and keeps working due to relatablity: we've seen tons of security system gags and i've had plenty of technology fail and plenty of people assume an overcomplicated system for their house is more resonable than removing it.
The lock out is also bad due to my faviorite gag of the special: the feast. The boys sing an entire song about Sammy J cooking them up a feast. Why he choose feast night to be stakeout night I don't know. And fitting the character he can't even have THAT be simple, forcing Randy to fast for 6 days to properly enjoy it and just.. not admitting he fucked up at any point, preferring to wait on the line to get support instead of I dunno, throwing a rock in his own window. The backup dancers, who get rudely dismissed and the chef's hat are just delightful.
The special has plenty of delightful stage florishes too: they go through their suspect list by having Randy's pupeteer dress up as each one , turning off the lights and using spotlights to simulate a camera flash while Sammy narrates them. My faviorite is the local family man from the family everyone hates whose hobbies include "Cheating on his wife and when not cheating on his wife football, darts and cheating on his wife" We also get extra puppets including a shovel and a pizza box. This show was low budget but you can tell they stretched every dollar they had and it paid off, both being skilled at muppetry. It's an ingenious use of stage and budget.
The pizza box comes about because the two consider odering pizza but Sammy's refusal to bend on waiting on hold sadly scuppers that plan. It does lead to a new one as Sammy, being the draconian howard moonian prick he is, threw away a nut loaf Randy tried to sneak in. Problem is BOTH are hiding things from each other, so they don't want to open it. We also get a great gag on Sammy pointing out on how "father time tops up people's life juice." and how he just says "Well that's it isn't it" when confronted with a good rebuttal.
Naturally the second Sammy J leaves Randy gets in the bin and finds BETRYAl: he'd been waiting to hear back from a woman he liked who was in machu piccu and Sammy J sent the letter away.. then wacks him with a shovel. Then decides wether to bury him or.. dis...dismember the corpse? And he chooses the latter?
Tumblr media
Yeah we get full on muppet mutilation here complete with the bloody head of randy feltface. Sammy does capture the bin burglaar but as a ressurected Randy explains (Father time does indeed top off life juice), their kinjdly neighbor was a drug kingpin and he neded the money to get to machu picu. HE was in on the bin stuff this whole time. So the two decide to go to macu picu, Randy to find his lost love, and Sammy because "third wheel?".. and because he'll pay for Randy's passport. They miss her by 45 minutes but they had fun.
As you can probably gather this special was both hard to write about, as it's a fairly simple stage show more reliant on letting gags fly and insane. It seemed pretty mundane at first but just..e sclates as it goes and it's beautiful the whole time. Just about every bit they set up pays off some how. They also make out at one point, so they at least got to the point faster than the mighty boosh ever did.
Sammy J and Randy in Bin Night.. is a lot of fun and I recommend it wholeheardtly. These two comics clearly get how to take the muppet style of nonsense and translate it to adult humor without having ot scream
Tumblr media
There's a lot of impressive puppets, fun gags and great character work nestled in this special and it was well worth the hour it took to watch it. You can find the special on youtube if your curious. I only wahnt to dig into MORE of these guys work, both as a duo and riding solo, after this magnificent special: it's fun, breezy and a nice mix of the muppets and the mighty boosh. Check it out if you haven't and check your bins. You never know when people will hide drug money or letters int here.

A Crimpella — VoicePlay music video
youtube
This is one of the more odd and creative things VoicePlay concocted early on. They turned a collection of phonations, sound effects, nonsense words, and foreign language lyrics from two dozen songs into a delightfully goofy performance art piece. You will almost certainly recognize some of the samples. The set-up is a little drawn-out for my taste, but once the beat kicks in, it's off to the races.
Details:
title: A Crimpella
original songs / performers: [2:20] "Walk the Dinosaur" by Was (Not Was); [2:28] "Witch Doctor" by Alvin & the Chipmunks; [2:35] "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; [2:40] "We Go Together" from Grease!; [2:47] “Motownphilly” by Boyz II Men; [2:55] "Imma Be" by the Black Eyed Peas; [3:03] "Tutti Frutti" by Little Richard; [3:05] "Shoop" by Salt N Pepa; [3:12] "Jock-A-Mo" (aka "Iko Iko") by James "Sugar Boy" Crawford; [3:20] "Mahna Mahna" from The Muppet Show; [3:30] "Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin" by Journey; [3:54] "Goofy Goober Rock" from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie; [3:57] "MMMBop" by Hanson; [4:10] "Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede; [4:14] "Bawitdaba" by Kid Rock; [4:19] "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" by Neil Sedaka; [4:29] "Can't Get You Outta My Head" by Kylie Minogue; [4:32] "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen; [4:45] "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga; [4:51] "Limbo La La" by James Lloyd; [5:01] "All Night Long" by Lionel Richie; [5:18] "Wanna Be Starting Something" by Michael Jackson; [5:24] "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" by Steam
arranged by: VoicePlay
release date: 1 September 2012
My favorite bits:
the thump at 2:30 propelling Eli into the air
everyone "watching" the UFO fly by
their most concerted effort at choreography being to "Shoop"
all the tentative poking and grimacing as they try to figure out how to "fix" their necks
Tony rocking out solo while the other guys consider whether to join in
the string of silly noises starting at 4:08
Layne's lowkey Little Monster claws during the Lady Gaga section
Trivia:
○ The boys gnaw on five CD cases at the beginning, but only Earl's album contains a song included in the ensuing medley:
Earl — Cooleyhighharmony by Boyz II Men (1991)
Tony — The Doors' greatest hits (1996 re-release)
Eli — Pump by Aerosmith (1989)
Geoff — Toxic Audio's eponymous debut album (1999)
Layne — Contra by Vampire Weekend (2010)
○ Several of the songs referenced here have appeared in VoicePlay's later medleys or short videos:
The bell tone section from Motownphilly was also included in their Boy Bands in 5 Minutes medley.
Different sections of Bohemian Rhapsody were part of their Queen in 5 Minutes medley.
Hooked on a Feeling and Mahna Mahna have both been featured in recent short-form videos.
○ This piece was included in their setlist for the 2014 Sing-Off tour.
○ This medley was inspired by British comedy troupe The Mighty Boosh. TMB had a series of sketches containing absurdist songs / performance art pieces they called "crimping". (Fair warning, most of their "crimps" feature adult language and gestures.)
