✧・゚: *✧・゚:* 🦁LEONA BIRTHDAY SSR FLOWER ANALYSIS* 🦁*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
*Mandatory reminder that I’m no flower specialist, which means these are all very subjective opinions. Take everything with a grain of salt!
Before I can talk about Leona’s flowers I quickly want to give a bit of a deeper look into the colors of his bouquet and how they affect its meaning – with the reading of yellow flowers ranging from friendship, joy, and hope in Europe and America to honoring the dead in Mexico and Egypt to sacredness in China to representing royalty in and around India. Generally speaking, in Asia the meaning of wealth, royalty, hope and disappointment, abundance, and jealousy, are most likely what the cards’ artist was going for so keep that in mind while reading this!
In the Victorian Language of Flowers yellow roses were symbols of jealousy and greed – which is also true for their Japanese and Korean meaning, though in traditional Mexican culture they more commonly symbolize remembrance. By gifting someone yellow roses one would show a decrease in love, or subtly tell the recipient to “try to care more”, though nowadays they stand for friendship, happiness, joy, innocence, and appreciation, and are typically sent during birthdays, promotions and graduations. However, they could also be an apology for previous wrongdoings.
The more orange flower I believe to be a gaillardia or blanket flowers, which on one hand are associated with charm, abundance, aristocracy, and modesty, or on the other hand, with joy, optimism, and happiness. Because of their ability to thrive in all conditions, they stand for resilience and strength, courage, fearlessness, and even were a symbol of bravery and hope in the Victorian Language of Flowers.
While hibiscus flowers are associated with positivity and joy thanks to their vibrant colors, they’re also symbols of wealth, generosity, hospitality, and the upper class. They’re reminders to live in the moment and to seize opportunities as they come. In Chinese culture they’re gifted to represent how short lived the beauty of glory or fame is since they have a relatively short vase life.
Gerbera Daisies, or African Daisies, typically represent either beauty, or a happy life. They symbolize friendship and happiness, but mostly are gifted to someone recovering from an illness, or to cheer someone up. In Japan they stand for ultimate beauty, hope, and a way forward (often with a romantic connotation). Notably, in ancient Egypt they stood for a closeness to nature and devotion to the sun.
Zinnias are associated with endurance, remembrance, and thoughts of absent friends/friends you haven’t seen in a while. They bloom even in draughts or when plagued by bugs so they’re the perfect gift for someone with a strong mind.
Since crocuses are early blooming flowers they symbolize new beginnings and rebirth, though they’re also linked to wealth, power, and divinity. In Asia and the Middle East they stand for hope and a prosperous future.
The yellow flower with the thin leaves is a pincushion flower or protea which represents transformation, diversity, and courage. In the Victorian Language of Flowers they stand for unfortunate love, and in hanakotoba (the Japanese Language of Flowers) they mean “I have lost all.”
Finally, the dark purple/red flower in his bouquet is a cymbidium orchid. It stands for morality and virtue, as well as beauty, strength and opulence. Being gifted such a flower is an honor since they’re difficult to grow and care for. They hold a reputation of being luxurious, and are a symbol of power, respect, and admiration – in the Victorian Language of Flowers one of supreme luxury and wealth. They also convey a feeling of strength, absolute power, or authority.
Naturally, these are only my un-educated guesses considering I’m by no means a flower specialist so take everything with a grain of salt, and feel free to let me know if I got anything wrong/what flowers I might’ve missed.

Masterpost
@wolfstarmicrofic
Prompt: orchid (free space day)
He feels as though he's floating, but not really. It's more like he's being dragged through heavy sludge, a polluted river, his body resisting everything and nothing at once. He feels like he doesn't exist and yet every molecule that makes up his design is twanging and vibrating with life and energy. He feels pulled apart and stitched back together, shredded to bits repeatedly, scattered through time and space, drifting in the vacuum, something sucking him in and out in one constant breath that rises and falls endlessly.
Sirius gasps as his eyes snap open, his back arching with the expansion of his lungs that he thinks shouldn't have any bearing at all because he's not real. Muscle memory, habit, his brain supplies distantly, but Sirius can't focus on it. He stares up, is met by the void of greedy black waiting to pull him back down, and he panics, flails, until the darkness shifts a little and Sirius finds himself gazing into a sea of brown.
He can't look away, the hue not one thing but millions, a sea of dazzling colors, glints of yellow, speckles of amber, a dusting of the deepest burnt orange. It's the richness of earth before the rain comes, smoky quartz that dazzles in the sunlight, the caramel gloss of milky tea. It's like staring at the edges of cymbidium orchid, the outside of a chestnut cracking under the heat of a too-hot fire, counting rings in the center of tree trunks aged so long and so beautifully mere years can't compare.
Sirius sucks in a duller breath as he becomes lost in the bursts of images, all these things of life he remembers so clearly even if he can't recall all the parts of his own. They flicker past his eyes like records being shuffled at a fast pace, a film playing at an out of order, dizzying speed. One flashes through his mind, overtaking his vision, melding every part of himself with the vision, brown eyes glittering through shadows too thick and disorienting to properly focus on, something about them spinning.
He blinks, staring up, finding more brown eyes fixed on him, surrounded by a familiar face, a smattering of dark freckles over a broad nose, cheekbones highlighted by those same marks, lips pulled into a thin, unreadable line, a crease formed between dark brows. And somehow it looks the same but different, Sirius' ceiling haloing the head instead of the bricks like he'd thought existed before.
Sirius shakes his throbbing head, still attempting to split open on him as he lays over his hard floor. The images quickly retreat until they're nearly forgotten, only a faint blip at the outer reaches of his mind. He still has the feeling of a heavy weight pressing down on his chest, but it's beginning to shift away slowly, and Sirius groans as he attempts to reorient himself, focusing in on Remus' face above him after a while. The other man doesn't speak, like he's giving Sirius time to return from the gaping emptiness he feels as though he's been trapped in for centuries.
"I'm back," says Sirius eventually, voice hoarse, the words ripping through his throat painfully. He grimaces before he can stop himself.
"Yeah, you are," concurs Remus. Sirius expects him to sound caustic or cruel, somehow deprecating, but he doesn't. Whatever hurt or anger had existed in the man upon Disapparating seems to have faded now, leaving behind a somewhat grievous expression that Sirius can't fully understand. "And I think I've figured out what controls when and how you can leave this flat."

Happy WBW! Tell me about a monster, creature, or animal species you invented for your WIP <3
(Taking another opportunity here to talk about my plant aliens bc I love them sooooo much and don't work on them as much as I'd like to) So they are technically entirely plant matter, and most can live off of water and sunlight. They do flower, but there are various ethnicities whose flowers look different and have different colours, scents, etc. The most common flowers resemble orchids, especially green cymbidiums:
Tumblr media
But orchids in our world have incredible diversity, and also among these aliens:
Tumblr media
Fragrances vary from a light green orchid scent to jasmine, magnolia, orange blossom, and especially lily. Rose scents are fairly rare, but not particularly desirable above others. Scents are also individual, so individual A might have a jasmine scent with a hint of vanilla, and individual B might have jasmine with a hint of berry. People are proud of their flowers and very protective of them, and those of their loved ones.

Flower Colors and Their Meanings in Floriography
Red
In Western cultures, red flowers often symbolize romantic love, affection, and passion; the color is also often connected to power and vigor. In Japan, red flowers stand for familiar love or motherly love. Red is a powerful color linked to good luck and celebration in Chinese culture.
Purple
Purple flowers often symbolize success, admiration, and even royalty. They may also signify elegance and distinction, as well as honor.
White
White flower meanings are often connected to purity, innocence, and honesty in Western societies. It’s commonplace to feature white flowers at weddings and to celebrate a birth. However, in Chinese culture, white is associated with death and mourning and is often found in sympathy bouquets.
Pink
Pink flowers send a message of affection, sweetness, and warmth. They’re a great choice to indicate friendship, love, and gratitude. In Thailand, pink is associated with trust, while in China, pink flowers are associated with good fortune.
Blue
One of the rarest flower colors, blue blossoms, are often associated with feelings of peace, calm, and tranquility. When given in a bouquet, they can symbolize trust, openness, intimacy, and even safety. Across cultures, the like of blue roses may also be connected to mystery and expressions of sympathy.
Yellow
In Western cultures, yellow flowers are associated with friendship, cheer, and good luck wishes. They’re often included in congratulations and thank you bouquets. In other parts of the world, yellow may be associated with honoring the dead, sacredness, beauty, abundance, and royalty. But to the Victorians, some yellow flowers – like yellow roses or calendula — meant jealousy.
Orange
Bright orange flowers often stand for enthusiasm and excitement. They’re commonly included in floral gifts that offer congratulations or good cheer and offer messages of warmth and happiness. Some orange flowers had negative connotations in the Victorian era, such as hatred. Today, though, orange flowers send an optimistic message.
Green
Another relatively rare flower color, green flowers, often signify rebirth, renewal, and fresh starts. They may also have the connotation of good health, prosperity, luck, and youthfulness. For instance, green flowers like bells of Ireland stand for good luck, while cymbidium orchids symbolize health and prosperity.

Cocktail Party Ideas For Summer Cocktail Parties
Let's start with the cocktail party menu. It should be simple and light. Cut different types of vegetables into small pieces, then skewer them. Marinate the skewers with balsamic vinegar, olive oil and salt, and then grill or roast the marinated Lanique
Tumblr media
You can mix it up! You can make a grilled vegetable garden at outdoor parties by placing the skewered vegetables on a bed of wheatgrass. You can also place the vegetables on a platter, and decorate it with loose flowers like Gerber daisies or Cymbidium orchids Martini
A caterer put together a fantastic cocktail party menu, which included Macadamia nuts crusted chicken lollipops. You can also order European cheeses with dates, figs, and sliced toasts or crackers.
Cocktail parties are a great way to serve appetizers in a shot glass. Serve skewered shrimp in shot glasses with cocktail sauce, soups like gazpacho and cucumber. This will create a conversation starter. It's good old-fashioned milk and cookies, where you can serve mini cookies with cold milk.
It's summertime so you can include mini-burgers on the tray (can be beef or turkey, veggie), and your favorite mini-hot dogs.
Another fun idea for a cocktail party is to create an all-white summer theme event using a white fabric pavilion. Rent a canopy that is 10'x10' and use sheer fabric to cover the sides. For the smaller tent, you may need the assistance of a tenting company. However, the fabric can be purchased at a local store to make the swags.
Colored glass decorations such as marbles and vases can add color to white cocktail parties. Flowers can also be fun and bright, but they are easy to make.
Here are some refreshing summer cocktail party ideas. Make your own spa water! This is one idea for a cocktail party menu. Simply add the following ingredients to water, and allow it to sit for a while.
* Fresh strawberries or raspberries * Citrus like oranges and lemons * Cucumbers * Herbs like mint and basil
You might consider adding sangria, mohitos, or flavored martinis to your cocktail party menu. You can find cocktail party martini recipe pages 87-88 in Budget Bash.
These cocktail party ideas will be great for summer cocktails parties. Make your cocktail party fun and light. Remember the Budget Bash mantra when throwing a party: keep it simple, delicious and stylish while still being fun!
