Samples from a project I’ve been thinking about for a while now - assembling all the little pieces of writing I’ve photographed in various cities into larger pieces. (I can’t decide which look to go with - thoughts?) Finding these bits of poetry and little love notes and simple kind words has grown to mean a lot to me, especially while traveling solo. I find it really lovely that so many people, when faced with a blank wall and a few minutes of opportunity, write love letters.

I apologize for any errors or clumsiness in translation! That’s entirely on me as an imperfect student of Italian.

Of the above photos used, two can be sourced (links also by the relevant lines).

The first is Il Movimento per l'Emancipazione della Poesia, a movement born in Florence which aims to break poetry out of its current elitist/academic/celebrity-focused state and rekindle an interest in/respect for the form by returning it to the streets and lives of the general populace. The website is all in Italian, but if you go to the trouble of translating it, their manifesto/FAQ is a genuinely interesting read.

The second is the Oraculo Project - part of their Messages On The Floor series, intended to give passerby something to reflect on in the moment of discovery, before both passerby and eventually the message itself disappear.
