Also, for the most recent free episode, do you ever think about the way that Ashlyn rushes and attacks the phantom after Tyler started screaming. The way that, before, they looked "for hours" around the area that he might have fallen. But the second she could hear him, she was there. The way that Aiden hollers and asks where she is, and then sees her, it also implies that she just ran off without a damn word as to where she was going once she heard him yell.
The way that none of them have any idea as to what's going on, Aiden asking her "what's wrong?", it makes me think that they were a decent bit away--far enough that the others wouldn't hear him scream, but she still could.
This whole part makes me just want to yell and scream and cry. But also, going back to something Tyler says in a very early episode/in season 1:
... Yeah, I guess that is what you'll do, Tyler.

I may have said this before but 2021 era TommyInnit Minecraft videos specifically are so good for anxiety. There's always so much going on and they keep your full attention for their entire duration which like, channels the bad feelings into the positive feeling of laughter if that makes sense

so I thought about something last night (my brain smelled like burning plastic)
So you have all these different remakes of the iliad/odyssey (especially odyssey) in film or other forms of media. Which is cool, it focuses on the heroes of those stories. Odyssey is especially focused on bc if I had to take a guess it's more well known than the iliad. People love Odysseus apparently 💪🏼
but what if... what if we had a show (let's say) that followed the adventures of Telemachus? Like after the events of the Odyssey and the Telegony which I still haven't read? What about him? What kind of mischief would Odyssides get into? Things like that.

thinking about humans in different parts of the world all agreeing that having an Event just to display shiny trinkets is the way to go (or as @permanentlyspacedout so eloquently put it, crow brain!)
And not just agreeing that displaying trinkets is neat, but that the displays should be tiered.
case in point: in the toasty regions of South India, we do the bommala koluvu

(my mum argues that nativity scene dioramas are more akin to bommala koluvus than the tree, but I'm too hung up on the (admittedly flimsy) tiered connection so shushhh)

because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.
you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.
you fold yourself into a prettier paper crane. since you never know what is "selfish" and what is "charity," you give yourself over, fully. you'd rather be empty and over-generous - you'd rather eat your own boundaries than have even one person believe that you're mean. since you don't know what the thing is that will make them hate you, you simply scrub yourself clean of any form of roughness. if you are perfect and smiling and funny, they can love you. if you are always there for them and never admit what's happening and never mention your past and never make them uncomfortable - you can make up for it. you can earn it.
don't fuck up. they're all testing you, always. they're tolerating you. whatever secret club happened, over a summer somewhere - during some activity you didn't get to attend - everyone else just... figured it out. like they got some kind of award or examination that allowed them to know how-to-be-normal. how to fit. and for the rest of your life, you've been playing catch-up. you've been trying to prove that - haha! you get it! that the joke they're telling, the people they are, the manual they got- yeah, you've totally read it.

you stare at your therapist, whom you can make jokes with, and who laughs at your jokes, because you are so fucking good at people-pleasing. you smile at her, and she asks you how you're doing, and you automatically say i'm good, thanks, how are you? while the answer swims somewhere in your little lizard brain:

i'm such a big fan of laios using being well fed as proof that he's serious. like there's so many techbros & etc who will use not eating breakfast as proof that they're productive & just in general, the idea of being "too busy to eat" is getting more common (which is exactly what toshiro is doing here!) but laios is like. no. i'm so serious about this i'm thinking about what comes next. i'm so serious about this i'm making sure my body can do everything it can when i need it.
