hello! lmao so, i hate to ask this, but i just got a surprise shut off notice for my household’s electric in my email (i don’t handle that bill myself but my email is on the account, my mother does, i have no control over it, which leads to surprises like this). $440 needs paid by 4/1/24 or it’ll be shut off. we can request an extension of two days to 4/3/24, but it’ll still be a partial amount paid (total amount due for the bill is actually $889), enough to not shut off, and it’ll roll over into us being even more behind the next month etc etc etc. if anyone could possibly help out, with the shut off amount or overall amount since it goes to both really, that’d be appreciated! i know i’ve gotten a fair amount of help from you really generous folk before, so just some good vibes sent out would be just as welcome too. thank you!!

Hey we’re in a desperate situation. We’re $63 short on my health insurance and until that’s paid we cant get my symbicort inhaler filled that’s $91 with a goodrx coupon anyway. The covid long care pulmonologist never came out of my account and I was never even told how much it’ll be so if that hits I’ll also overdraft. okay so, to have a place for consolidated information for the next little bit, since i'm sure folks have QUESTIONS given my incredibly aggressive gallows humour

tldr ive been getting a number of recurrent small bowel obstructions located in my duodenum (first part of the small intestine, connecting the stomach to the rest of the bowel) due to external pressure on the duodenum around the 3rd to 4th (of 4) section. what's causing the pressure?? no clue actually ive done a bazillion scans and none of them have been quite clear enough for a real confident dx so i get to have surgery about it at some point in the near future

current theory is the pressure is from some sort of non-cancerous tumor mass and the plan is to cut me open nice and big, look about, and remove both this mass and the affected section of the duodenum (.5 of an organ) at a minimum, but may involve fully bipassing the duodenum when my guts get hooked back up to my stomach which could (would???) also require removing my gallbladder (1 and 2 organs respectively) (i'm having so much yanked out of my abdomen this summer jfc)

atm i'm still waiting for scheduling to give me a call to set things up. surgeon's estimate was 4-5 weeks from now (8/17 when he called). from that point i'll spend a week-ish in the hospital to make sure all hoses are firmly affixed, and then i'll have a month at a minimum before i'm reasonably healed and can go back to normal life

i have good insurance and the luck (????) of being incredibly ill at the best of times, so i've already hit my out of pocket max and thus this WHOLE THING even back dating to my first er visit end of june will cost a whopping 189$ that i've already paid. i also should qualify for my states paid medical leave and my wife will get a hefty chunk of change for living expenses via student loans. however, both those things won't hit until late september at the earliest

long term, im not expecting much of a financial burden, but short term we could use a hand with groceries and similar while we wait for my backpay and my wife's student loans

like i said, i'm incredibly ill at the best of times so i am a champ at weathering this sort of stuff its nbd. "i'm sorry"s are not helpful, i'd much rather have people ask direct specific questions, either about my health status or things i'm doing to keep busy (ie "any new and fun things causing tummy issues?" or "hows your battle vest coming?" or "whats your fav line youve written this week?"). engagement and entertainment is Important to keep me from climbing the walls but i swear i will bite at straight sympathy

things ive been doing to keep me out of the er include: laying on my left side or stomach (The Digestion Position; helps get food past the squished part); eating a semi-liquid diet (hence ensure, jello, pudding, the like, though its important that i also eat solid food as much as is tolerated, which is such a delicate balance. this is why i cannot currently work); going on stupid little walks for my stupid digestive health (honestly the most important thing i can do, which im mad about, because it requires pants, but not only encourages guts to digest but also will help me not decondition, which i have already done a lot of :I)

things YOU can do to help (because i know *i* am a helper but also what is actually helpful??): financially with the above deets (no pressure); asks, comments, and other conversational interactions (i am absolutely chill with basically any kind of question and i dont mind dms if youd prefer privacy, just dont pedestal me i promise i am just A Dude); fanart for my fics (i do not care if you "cant draw" i will still love it); prompts for fandom but not necessarily fic projects (wardrobe moodboards/meta for characters, playlists/songs, smut writing how to questions, cosplay progress/plans qs, those "what was x's pov in this scene/what specifically happened between x and y in this fic?" qs andor other ask meme things idk dude i haven't been able to do shit for almost three months im booooored)

ive found myself backed in to making a venmo account* after avoiding it for like a decade, and my fucking god this website is ugly lmao. i forget the name for this particular kind of dreadful corporate art (corporate Memphis?) but yuck

i honestly spend most of my internet time on about five websites, all of which are fairly simple in design or very seldom receive minor updates. so whenever i wander onto websites with this kind of 2020s design language it sincerely is a kind of culture shock for me lmao. the hell is this noodly-armed bullshit

We still have bank transfers lmao they just aren’t immediate unless you pay a fee, usually takes about a day unless it’s a weekend. When I paid rent it was online and from my bank account 🤷‍♀️ it’s just way faster for us to venmo each other, it has all your contacts and you don’t need to know their bank info, I’m not sure how y’all do it though

I can only speak for germany and my experiences obviously but here for rent and other 'formal' business transactions like your salary that's transferred to your bank account monthly and paying for heating and power that you'll pay the companies directly to their accounts.

If i owe my friends money i'll also pay them through Paypal mostly( unless it's more than 100€ usually then always through the bank) but for example if my grandma wants to send me money (for birthdays etc) she just uses the normal bank. It's also very easy because you just need the number on your banking card. I think a lot of countries use the IBAN so that also makes it easy to transfer money to different banks, and it's also very fast. You can do ' real time' transfers or transfers that are done automatically every month at a specific date (like rent). Companies can also just take your money (with permission), so you don't have to like worry about if you'll pay in time.

I do think Paypal and venmo are very practical Apps and i'm glad you came in my inbox to explain a bit because i was just baffled djjfkd. Very glad that bank transfers also exist in the US!!

Also i think with most banks you'll pay a monthly fee , for their services, but not extra for every transaction.

(Are checks really a thing still though? 🙈)

soooo a girl met surl 🥹

tl;dr go see surl!!! it’s worth it like tickets are cheap, the songs are great, the venues are so personal and informal fanmeet after maybe because they’ve been nice enough to hang out around after to meet fans

OH before i forget, bring your ID! for my venue they checked it before letting us in and i’m assuming all venues are doing the same because they’re performing at a lot of bars/pubs so for the places that do allow those under 21 in, they check and mark your hand/give you a diff band if you can’t drink (please check your venue’s website for official rules)

the concert was amazing and the crowd was fun! even though the venue is small no one was pushing so it was comfortable standing (except for when they threw their picks and set list at the end wjjfbdbdjs) it did get pretty warm though but they had the air blowing every now and then so it wasn’t too bad

the expected set list they posted is actually not the real one because they perform less songs but from what i’ve noticed is they have a decent chunk of songs they’re performing at all venues but there are a few that get swapped in and out

people that got their set list paper from other shows posted them on social media and (comparing it to my stop) it looks like even the ordering of the songs are also slightly different so that would make each stop a unique experience

they said cash only for merch but they also had venmo set up so you don’t have to bring exact cash and you can buy before or after the show, no extra tax or fees are applied so you dont have to bring extra than the price they have listed on their post! they have a poster at the merch table that you can sign, they hold it at the end for the group photo

if you want to stand near the front, just go straight in and save a good standing spot for yourself FIRST instead of going to the merch table and if you’re with a friend you can take turns to go buy and sign the poster, that’s what most people were doing since doors open an hour before the show starts! if you’re going solo you can prob ask the person next to you to save your standing spot and you can do the same for them since everyone was nice and respectful of each other’s spaces

at the end of the show the members have been hanging out for a bit, if you catch them you can chat/ask for pics/get signatures but bring ur own pen they don’t have one unless they’ve taken it into account for the stops after mine lmao

even though he was the opening act only, kaz moon also stayed around too for my stop at least if you want to meet him as well but im a clown so i didn’t

so if you want to see them: seattle, toronto, chicago, madison, somerville, brooklyn its not too late for youuu!! actually the seattle show is today but they’ve been offering day of tickets if you haven’t bought any!! i don’t want to reblog it again since it’s also a long post but it’s not too far to find it on my blog, it has ticket links and other info along with their social media pages if you need it

#i’ve been in small venues but this one was definitely the smallest so it felt so intimate like why can i make eye contact with u #i have a picture with them too but i am NOT posting it omg my awkward ass it was bad for me #i basically just said thank you and left 😭😭😭😭😭#if there is a next time my goal is to say more than two words but i still had a fun time and they’re sweet #we were there about an hour before doors opened and i heard them rehearsing from outside #then they stepped out for a bit to go somewhere they said hi to the line and they were filming #maybe they’re making a vlog for later??#skimming this and realizing how many times i kept saying MY STOP / AT MY STOP / MY- like girl we get it #but also fr i’m not sure what other stops are doing so i dont want to mislead skdkffk #only thing i wish was different was i wanted them to turn his mic up a little louder but also i had concert earplugs in #bc i’m sensitive to loud sounds and was scared it might be too much but it wasn’t #korean indie #k-indie #surl #ok i’m done acting like their tour promoter 😇😇
