I want to talk about how Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves is an excellent use of meta humor applied seamlessly to a story without ever breaking immersion.
Mild spoilers. I'll keep it vague so nothing will be spoiled if you choose to read on
This movie integrates many things that someone familiar with D&D would recognize from the narrative structure of a campaign.
There are some things in particular that demonstrate this particularly well
At one point, the party is joined temporarily by the character Xenk. But he really feels like he'd be an NPC party member controlled by the GM rather than a player. So when the other characters banter and quip, this character doesn't really join in or get their jokes cuz he simply wouldn't have the agency to. More examples of this would be how he's much more capable than the others, but he doesn't overshadow them. He provides aid if it's desperately needed, and will sometimes bail rhe party out of situations they can't manage on their own, just like how a GM should utilize an NPC companion. He even has a quote that perfectly reflects this. "I've given you the tools. Now you have to be the ones to use them". There's even a more direct joke about his NPC behavior. When he leaves the story, he walks off in a random direction, going straight forward, even stepping over obstacles and terrain unnecessarily. This all amounts to him feeling like a very clear GM controlled NPC, however he is presented in a way that still makes him feel entirely faithfull to his own world and does not break immersion
Other ways the movie plays around with the GM campaign structure would be the approach to backstory. The only time a character outright explains what their backstory is, in full, directly to us, is at the very start, to give context for the story going forward, as the character even puts it himself. Backstory later in the movie is told to us whenever it's relevant. Characters will toss in another fact or two about themselves in situations where mentioning a past experience would fit in. Much like how players usually prefer to build their characters.
And one of my favorite instances of being meta about D&D campaign structures comes in the second act.
the characters are faced with a complex and dangerous obstacle. The GM's stand in, xenk, explains the method of progressing through this obstacle correctly. But in true D&D fashion, the party immediately does it wrong and now the campaign has been derailed and the GM's setup squandered. So now they straight up don't have a way forward in the narrative. Logically, it should end there. But that'd be a shit campaign, so the GM would naturally bend the rules to get things back on track. So after the party fails the obstacle, one of them goes; "Hang on, that stick we've had with us the entire time isn't a stick after all! It's actually a magic staff that solves our EXACT predicament at this EXACT time". That is such a clear cut meta joke about GM's having to get things back on track cuz players are all chaotic evil. Is it a plot contrivance? Absolutely. One of the biggest ever. But it's what D&D is built on

Wines Inspired by Characters
Henry Oak from Dungeons and Daddies [FULL EXPLANATION]
Starting off the series with one of my favorite characters from the podcast here's some notes I've written down for the wine.
Grape Type:
So Henry having a vegetarian/vegan diet I wanted something that would pair nicely with this. There were mentions of foods like Trail Mix, Nuts, Mushrooms and dried oats and a few wines fit perfectly with this but since Chardonnay is known for it's buttery taste due to it's fermentation in OAK Barrels the choice was a bit obvious.
Dry or Sweet?
Plus, this type of wine is known for being either sweet or dry depending on the temperature it was grown in. I feel like this reflects Henry's personality as he's both super sweet caring and very much a pacifist but also dry, angry and stressed.
Body
So, the body reflects not only on the amount of alcohol the wine has but also, it's acidity, color and tannins.
Acidity is sour and makes your mouth water but tannins dry your mouth.
That being said, medium body just means that there is a balance between both tannins and acidity and that it's within a 12.5%-13.5% alcohol level. Oaked Chardonnays are known for this.
The alcohol level is reflected on the amount of natural sugar the grapes have which can vary by the soil type, climate and variant.
This does NOT reflect on the overall sweetness of the wine.
Sweet wines usually have lower alcohol levels than bold wine since most of the glucose is broken up and fermented during the process there for making more alcohol.
Flavors and Aromas:
Several sommeliers have explained that flavors and Aromas AND will vary depending on the pallet. There are a few that are more noticeable to several but others that aren't. That is part of the magic and art of wine tasting.
That being said for Henry's Inspired wine I did use some fruits mentioned in his dialog during season 1. More specifically this quote:
What the freakin ding dang, gosh darn, dilly willy, heckin' shark tooth, banana chicanery, rootin' tootin', raspberry freaking FUCK are you two doing here?!

Although banana and shark tooth aren't main notes for this wine, I feel like Henry would use these terms to describe it. Raspberry on the other hand WOULD be a nice main note, alongside the classic vanilla and Oak combo from classic chardonnay with a hint of green apple, Jazmin and general minerals. Those last three I feel reflect Oakville a lot beside the obvious OAK.
Bottle Design
The main label reflects the physical appearance of the character both in its podcast cover and in the character's intro from Will Campos.
"Henry Oak is the Birkenstock rocking, crunchy, munchy, hippie, nature druid dad of the group."
Wanted to stick with the colors from the Cover art but with a more neutral tone so that it matches the colors and hue of this hypothetical wine.
Having the iconic Berkenstocks in the background on a rocky stone grown with vines growing around it, just felt like the perfect vision for Henry. And as a little homage to on of the several dadfacts I added a Trilobite insignia on the top of the wine cap.
Finally, I added the important info such as where it would have been produced, by what bodega and when. Obviously, Oakville in the Forgotten Realms would have been an interesting place to grow grapes. Bodega Daddies because it sounds both funny and well fitted and finally it's from 2019 because that's when Henry Oak first appeared in the first episode of that same year.
And I think that just about does it!!!

So this is ABOUT Revivedbur, and features a lot of flashbacks from the l'manberg eras as it changes alongside cwilbur. It's ctommy talking to cfoolish about cwilbur and i think about this conversation so often it's wonderful to see it in an animatic! it really highlights ctommy's philosophy and relationship with c!wilbur! oh this one is so heavy but also so beautiful and i love it so much. This is where I adapted the headcanon into my brain that cwilbur had a l'manburg flag sewn on the inside of his jacket, over his heart, at all times. the silent monologue of ghostbur until the line at the end about everything around him being alive, except him.

sometimes i think wilbur and tommy listened to two bird right before starting the pogtopia arc and went "hey we should base our ENTIRE dynamic this arc on this" and then went live lol. I love this artsyle it's so cute and fits each character so well! I love the eyes in particular!

O to the Z to the Y to the MANDIUS wooo!!!! this changed MY brain chemistry and this changed the FANDOM's brain chemistry! if you are new here watch to change YOUR brain chemistry! and then go watch the rest of sad-ist they were one of the animators who popularized and showcased the lore of the dsmp arcs! Wilbur connects this poem to his character and it's so awesome seeing it read out and put to an animatic!

The mix of stream quotes with music is a SAD-ist staple and one of my favorite parts of their animations it just makes everything so hype! This just showcases the pogtopia arc up until right before the final battle so well! i love it every frame is a screenshot *chefs kiss*

And the odd-ball choice! Not cwilbur or ghostbur or l'manburg related, but instead it's that Oncelor song about the SCHLATT ADMINISTRATION! There is a eye strain warning in the title that gets cut off in the link, so I'm letting you know here! this is a really fun video and the colors are very saturated and fun! It has great humor and i laughed multiple times all while being very foreboding about what's going on in the Manberg era.
annnnndd there is a ten video limit so instead I'm going to link the last two:
knp!!!'s animatic "Not Your Fault" which is about cphil and his feelings after killing his son, going through the guilt and blame and all that good stuff. The chorus of "it was not your fault but mine, it was your heart on the line. i really fucked it up this time, didn't i, my dear?" just KILLS me every time!
The follow-up to SAD-ist's animatic above is "Dawn of 16th" and is amazing as always for balancing the music with the dialogue to create and wonderful narrative about that day!

why "the outsiders" is one of the best shows i've ever seen
i loved every second of this show, so here's all my favorite parts!!
ALSO Trevor Wayne (u/s Ponyboy) was on for my show, and it was his Broadway debut, so that mixed with this only being their fourth official show after debuting on Broadway this past Thursday (they've been in previews for a few weeks) made for SUCH a good show atmosphere, the vibes were immaculate, and Trevor was a phenomenal Ponyboy.
Also, I got to stagedoor, and the cast was SO incredibly kind!!! I love stagedoors when the cast is just made up of the nicest group of people ever

Act 1
the COSTUMES OHHH MY GOD
and the set is so cool???
the fight choreo is something i could talk about forever and ever
in general, the music has a very folk/country vibe to it, which fits SO well since it takes place in oklahoma!!
"grease got a hold" was so fun, i loved the idea that you become an official greaser after getting through your first fight with the socs
the show in general is such a good balance of quotes directly from the book and original lines!
i love that they made Dally another big brother figure to Ponyboy, because it just adds so much to the tension between Darry and Ponyboy
additionally, making Dally the leader of the gang while Darry's trying to stay away from that world... such a good change
Johnny and Pony are the best friends ever omg
Ace my beloved 😭😭 i'm usually hesitant about new characters being added but i love her so much
i was afraid they'd make her like an Anybodys copy, but she was SUCH a good fit within the group, and her relationships and interactions with them all felt so natural
btw she and Steve are siblings that is my hc they're brother and sister your honor!!!
and Two-Bit!!! Beloved!!! Daryl Tofa you are THE Two-Bit ever!!!

"Great Expectations" had the stage completely blacked out except for spotlights on each of the outsiders gang when i tell you i was emotional
MY THEORY IS CONFIRMED OF THE CURTIS PARENTS DYING WHILE GETTING STUFF FOR DARRY'S BIRTHDAY I'M HAPPY BUT IN PAIN
Having Johnny present for the scene when Darry slaps Ponyboy is such a smart decision, especially since he's the one who grabs Ponyboy and gets them out of the house
Johnny and Pony duet 😭😭 they're platonic soulmates fr
Having the silhouettes of Soda and Darry during Johnny and Pony's duet, and Darry just sitting so defeated on the floor hurt me ngl
There were effects when Ponyboy was being drowned where it was like we were underwater as well, and everyone else was just moving silently. SO well done
the scene where Johnny stabs Bob was insane- there were blackouts, and people were moving in slow motion, and it was so perfectly overwhelming
God, the entire ending sequence was incredibly with the set pieces!! and in general, the effects were so good
also Dally is such an overprotective brother to BOTH Johnny and Pony
Act 2
The harmonies in this show. This is such a strong ensemble cast, and they're so powerful during the group numbers
"Death's at my Door" made me fucking sob????? Johnny and Pony being each other's reason to live??? Them staying alive just to make sure the other is safe???
Have I mentioned how much I love that Dally sees Pony and Johnny as his little brothers?? Because I love it so so much
Darry and Dally's arguments, and Dally making good points on why he's close with Ponyboy hurt SO much because Darry's trying his best
Ohhhh Darry is speaking to my soul he really is the parentified older sibling ever
But also "Throwing in the Towel" being similar to "Death's at my Door", with Sodapop begging Darry not to give up, because he loves him, and recognizes what he does for them??? And Ponyboy joining in at the end from the church??
Dally immediately hugging Ponyboy and Johnny when they reunite at the church 😭
"Soda's Letter" made me cry violently but that's nothing new
"Hoods turned Heroes" was actually so cute, the greasers were so excited and proud of Pony and Johnny
but the tonal shift at the end when Dally carried Johnny in all bandaged up??
a little miffed we didn't see the Curtis brothers reuniting ngl, but that's the only thing i wish they added in
THE FUCKING RUMBLE WAS SO GOOD HOLY SHIT
Darry asking Ponyboy if he can fight for him 😭😭😭 he loves his brother so much
THE CHOREO AND THE RAIN ON STAGE OH MY GOD
And Ponyboy fights until Johnny comes on stage and stands in front of him, and everything just freezes 😭
I do love how all the greasers were present for JOhnny's death, because it just solidifies how they're a family
Joshua Boone as Dally destroyed me. He perfectly showed how Johnny was Dally's entire world
and GOD them changing Dally's death to suicide by straight up stepping onto the train tracks and getting hit by a train was...
Just how empty and lost Ponyboy was after everyone died, and how desperate Soda and Darry were to get him to at least eat something, they portrayed that grief and trauma so well
"Stay Gold" 😭😭😭😭😭
Literally could not stop sobbing during that song, everyone around me was crying
There was such a perfect balance between Pony's narration and the show itself, and there were moments where he broke the fourth wall, mainly by looking at Soda and Johnny during their letters, and it just made for such an emotional impact
Darry asking to read Pony's story 😭😭 showing his support, and Pony being absolutely shocked but so happy 😭😭
also when Darry and Pony tell each other they love each other 😭😭 sobbing violently i love familial reconciliation
I was just an emotional wreck the entire finale, it was so beautiful
and the implication that instead of writing an essay, Ponyboy wrote "The Outsiders" in-universe 😭😭

@triggerhappymilitant - Nyx's headcannons about Niragi are another one of my faves when it comes to headcannons about Niragi. They are always interesting to read and I feel like she always manages to showcase Niragi's utmost essence in her own rendition of the character and its background!
@hoodedchishiya - If you want a fresh and unique version of Chishiya, this is the blog to seek. Again, just like his talent for writing in general, this man's creativity when it comes to reimagining Chishiya in a very unique, yet true to the core essence of the character, is baffling! I told you, I could listen to you ramble all day about your ideas and hcs about Chishiya and I wouldn't grow bored!

@lillyontheborder - She's a new addition to my friends group, but I can assure anyone that Lilly is a great friend and a great person to talk to! She knows to listen to you and she will do her best to help!
@risa-of-spades - Risa has always been a great listener and supportive pillar of our community and for that I feel like I owe her an endless amount of gratitude and appreciation! Staring into the Milky Way, you find yourself enamored by the twinkling diamonds sprinkled all over the night sky. The way they are randomly spread yet still, they are perfectly in place to be a constellation.
A perfect mess.
"Do you believe in astrology?"
Satoru look at you and drank from his cup of hot cocoa, taking his time to think about your question. He just woke up from a refreshing nap, buried on your chest while your hands' card through his nape. If there's truth in astrology he'd like to know when is his day-off so he can sleep on top of you again, undisturbed.
"I haven't tried it." He shrugged.
"Really? Did your parents never had your future read or some sort?"
Satoru rolled his eyes and pulled you by the wrist, now you're standing between his spread thighs while he look up to your curious face. You're so docile when you look like this, inquisitive and adorable in your curiosity.
"Nope. Have you?" He rub your knuckles.
You sighed feeling the warmth of his callous hands. Now that you think about it, Satoru isn't the type to indulge in divinations to predict his future.
"Sometimes. It's pretty fun and mysterious."
He nodded, knowing your fascination with stars has been one of your charm. Pretty little one always talks for hour while he listens, and from time to time he would give in a cent or two.
"My sweet Pisces." Satoru grinned, brushing your cheeks with the pad of his thumb, you closed an eye and scrunch your nose. Leaning up, Satoru reach for your chin and reward your lips with a sweet tender kiss. "How about you ask me to predict the future for you?" Satoru rub the tip of his nose over yours, gripping your thighs in his rough palms. It's dizzying how hot it is when you're just trying to innocently cuddle with him.
"—I'll take you out and roam the city and by the night we get home, we'll cuddle until you fall asleep on my chest while I hold you in my arms." Satoru finished.
"That's not a horoscope 'Toru, that's an itinerary." You rolled your eyes, wrapping your legs around his toned waist.
Satoru chuckled, the corner of his eyes crinkled and reach your lips for sweet kisses, not getting enough that he can't help but give you ticklish pecks everytime you try to pull away from him in your fit of giggles.
He never believe in fates dictated by stars, but he believes in his choice. He believes there's more to stars that brought you to him. In the 7 billion people in this earth, you're the decision he sincerely made.
"Stars are pretty." He admits to that. Tucking back your stray hair he gazes at you. "But stars incline us, they do not bind us, Baby."

hi, Mt. This might cause some negative energy and I'm sorry, but I hope its still okay to write this to you. If you can't post, that's okay too. As much as I love Caryl and Melissa, I think I have to walk away. Fandom has always been too intense for me, so I like to stay hidden, but I like reading all the articles and following along on filming. Everything about S1 was making me uncomfortable. Daryl was being weird a lot of times and the things the producers kept saying, I kept wanting to argue with. I thought now that S1 is over and Melissa is announced, things would be a lot better. I do like all the photos of Melissa and I liked the little trailer we got, but something about this show feels very wrong. You talked about a lot of the things I noticed on my own, the way it still feels like Daryl is the most important and Carol doesn't mean as much because she's not in the title. That's just an example. I hate that. And I hate that the producers are making that feeling worse every chance they get. Zabel, he just makes me mad because his way of explaining Daryl and now Carol sounds like he's just ranting and sometimes doesn't make any sense. I don't think Daryl can make deep relationships that quickly for example. But Norman and Greg Nicotero, what they say sounds worse to me. Some people aren't going to like me saying this and I don't mean to cause you any trouble since it's your tumblr. The way they insult Melissa sometimes and hurt the fans to make us seem unimportant or dumb, it makes me feel like I'm in another abusive relationship and that's what I need to get away from. I thought about just staying off the internet and watching the show, but their behavior makes me worry about the show too. I believe you about them refusing a new showrunner who's a woman and it's not just because you said it. It's because it fits with past things they've done. Norman admitted getting rid of Angela Kang and then they hired Zabel who is a white man just like them. I won't be able to take it if Caryl's relationship is ruined. I didn't have much when I was young, including love. I was trapped in the same cycle for a long time. Watching Caryl gave me a lot of hope because they were similar to me and I wanted them to be together to know some happiness is still possible even if life has been so hard. Maybe they will, but it's not worth all this suffering in the meantime. I don't think I'll find characters like them again, but I'll find something that makes me feel joy every day, not misery and anger. Thank you for listening and for making me feel not so alone for a while. Thank you to Melissa McBride for being so talented and lovely. I wanted to be able to thank Norman too. I'm just too hurt right now, but Daryl will still have a special place in my heart right beside Carol as it should be.

Anon, you don't have to apologize. It's always bothered me when we assign each other a "negative" or "positive" disposition when in reality it's perfectly human to form nuanced opinions. Last year wasn't kind to Caryl fans at all, so seeing Melissa filming again and seeing bts photos of Caryl again felt like the first warm day after a brutal winter (to quote my favorite podcast hosts 🤪❤️). I think every single one of us wants to hold onto that feeling. I'm happy for those who are succeeding. We deserve to finally look forward to the Daryl and Carol show we were promised.
That being said, I also empathize with those who are having a difficult time holding on. I am one of those people myself. One day it feels like we're getting something exciting, like the first Caryl photos let's say, and the next we're getting dumped on. Case in point, an actor who isn't even on the show taking the opportunity to call Caryl's/Carol's fans toxic and using Melissa's return to self-promote. Or how about another actor using sexist language to attack the same fans because he didn't like the criticism the show was getting. Or the showrunner teasing another ship with zero regard for a significant portion of his soon-to-be audience (Caryl fans). It’s all very discouraging, especially when the intervals in between the bad PR get shorter and shorter.
As for the male EPs’ off-putting behavior, you aren’t the first person to describe it to me the way you did, far from it, which is just to say you aren’t alone. Thank you for sharing a little bit about yourself even though it couldn’t have been easy. I’ll share that when I was growing up, the men in my life would often display an urgent need to be in control, to let everyone know they were the boss and what they said goes. Tracking this show has definitely brought up a lot of the anxiety I thought I’d dealt with already, that Daryl helped me deal with when I first started watching TWD, so I completely understand where you're coming from.
The show we were promised in 2020 was a Daryl and Carol show. Theoretically, now that Melissa is back, it should be a Daryl and Carol show again. That’s what Melissa signed on for and her EP title is supposed to be equal to Norman’s. But Norman, Nicotero, and AMC are not honoring that. You already mentioned the title, so I’ll use another example. Norman said S2 is Carol’s story before amending to Carol and Daryl stories paralleling each other. Either way, why is his character the only one on the clapperboard? Where’s Carol? In that tiny plane?
These may seem like non-issues on the surface, but as I've talked about before, people working on the show can use them as cues to establish a chain of command different from what's in contracts. The male EPs can use them to drown out Melissa's voice in instances of disagreement. The showrunner is a big one. How about directors? Are they all white men again? Who's deciding that? And how can that be the only perspective we're getting if S2 is centered around a heavily-nuanced female character, a mother, a survivor of domestic abuse, a frequent target of misogyny and ageism on SM ? Melissa's input is highly valuable. I'm in no way diminishing that or suggesting she's helpless, but she needs to be shown all the professional courtesy she deserves, as an equal. If fans are seeing evidence to the contrary, and we absolutely can see that, it undermines the narrative we've been invested in all this time: Carol beating the odds over and over again, proving her worth, and becoming a leader.
I'm really sorry that you're feeling mistreated by a show you used as a source of comfort. It's not how things are supposed to work. There should be no gaslighting, no sexist name-calling, no playing into your fears, no insulting your intelligence, no making you feel unheard. Explicit canon is something that needs to happen, but it won't take away the discomfort you're feeling unless we can get someone else in a position of power to push for Caryl, Carol, and the Daryl we know, with Melissa. That's honestly what I'm waiting to see at this point. AMC needs to make big changes. In the meantime, please take care of yourself, anon. Your wellbeing comes first.

my favorite au in fanfics it's soulmates au, and i couldn't help to noticed that sukuna's true form has two faces, two arms, and two legs (according to the nihongi, a very very old japanese history book where we can find the first mention of the figure of sukuna in folklore), and that description matches with the theory of soulmates given by aristophanes in the symposium by plato.
the story is told by aristophanes during a discussion this character had with other philosophers about what love is. it tells the tell of people originally being these creatures with two faces, to arms, to legs, to sets of genitals, etc, that got punished by the gods and got separated.

why they were a threat ergo they got punished:

so i keep thinking about a story where sukuna is defeated and sealed, losing his true form because a part of his soul dispersed and escaped somewhere as the other half of him was being fragmented and put into fingers. if i don't remember wrong, according to folklore sukuna didn't obediently follow the commands of an emperor and tended to cause ruckus and because of that said emperor send someone to execute him, so it'll add up with the idea of infuriating a god because they consider him a threat because of his strength.
then a thousand years later he strangely fits perfectly inside this boy, making him the perfect vessel for some unknwon reason, a boy that looks almost exactly like him for some other strange reason.
one day, bored out of his mind, sukuna is walking around yuuji's mind and stumbles across images, memories, more than a thousand years old that look so familiar to him. he realizes that yuuji is the part of his soul he lost back then, understanding that they are both the same but also very distinct individuals since this fragment of his soul had being apart from him for so long and had grown and develop on its own.
this idea also comes from some other thing i read about the original sukuna that said that maybe he came to be a symbol of twins or brothers from ancient history, and the theory that maybe sukuna represented actually two brothers (kagosaka no miko and oshikuma no miko) that were sons of an emperor, which would go pretty well with a platonic soulmates au.
ps. the way aristophanes describes one of this types of creatures (because there were three types: woman+woman, man+man, and then this third one) that looks like two people into one is like a third genre he called "androgynous" (i don't think it's necesserily woman+man but something different that doesn't exist anymore according to him, idk), that has both female and male characteristics, and in the lights that we found out sukuna lactates and he might be pregnant now, i think it fits perfectly to what his true form shows to be now in the manga.
ps2. i'm not a philosopher, i actually don't know what i'm talking about, just very passionate about the topic of soulmates in general.

So, I decided to create this random chain for no reason (probably because of the sleep deprivation). It's probably not gonna work but... Heh.

Mine's green and... Well, it's kinda hard to explain. Basically, I was sorted into Slytherin and I was like, really sad because all my friends were Gryffindors. But then I started accepting the fact and after some time I kinda became obsessed with the Slytherin house. I became so obsessed that my favorite color became green after some time. Basically that's the story of why my favorite color is green. I know, boring.
Pessimistic, optimistic or realistic?
I'm a realistic, but I'm rooting towards the pessimistic. I like to see things the way they are, but my anxiety might also exaggerate some bad things that I think might happen to me.
Name a song that speaks to your soul.
Waving Through A Window from Dear Evan Hansen. The lyrics always seem to speak to me, specially these last days. Because... That's how I feel. I'm trying to speak, but I feel like nobody can hear, so I learned how to hide, how to "slam on the break". I'm afraid I'll make a mistake, but I also want to be heard.
What's your favorite quote?
To be honest, I'm not the type of person that memorizes quotes, but if I had to pick one of the ones that I know, I'd choose "Humor was a good way to hide the pain." from Heroes of Olympus, Rick Riordan. Leo is one of the characters that I relate the most in the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles, and quote fits me perfectly.
If you could change your name (and if you want to), what would it be?
Okay, so, I've been thinking a lot about this, since I want to change my name to something neutral. I think I would change my name to Erin. It's a beautiful name, it's not gendered and it sounds good with my surname (that's important for me, since my surname is weird as f*ck). I'm still not sure, but I really think this is it.

911 Lone Star
Say You’ll Remember Me: This is a Ryderdie WIP by @myemergence, and I really look forward to more. It’s one of my absolute favorite tropes (Amnesia!) and a canon-divergent AU for 2x9 featuring one of the best fictional couples to ever exist. I love Judd and Grace Ryder so much. Jenny nails the angst in that way where it hurts but GOSH it is good. It’s just *chef’s kiss* and I can’t wait to see where the rest of the journey takes us.
Searching For A Trail to Follow Again: Paige’s (@sunshinestrand) fics are classic, butterflies in your stomach, grinning from ear-to-ear, romantic comedies. This AU was so charming and, like all of Paige’s writing, leaves you with the biggest smile on your face because you’re just over-the-moon Carlos and TK have found one another in this story and in all her AUs (again and again and again). Contrary to popular belief among certain showrunners, letting characters just be happy is quality and compelling storytelling, and I’m grateful for fic writers like Paige who know that and give us a slice of that joy.
So Many Somethings: Rae’s (@iboatedhere) AUs are iconic by now, but this one will always be near and dear to my heart. Not just because it’s the You’ve Got Mail AU and it’s an incredible nod to the film, but also because it was the first fic I ever beta-read for her, and the whole process bonded us. Rae, thanks for trusting me! This fic is remarkable, I love the balance of enemies-friends-lovers and the banter. Oh, the Banter™️. Nora Ephron would be proud!
Sanctuary: If I had to use one word to summarize this fic, it would be ✨DESTINY✨. Honestly, I think all of Kim’s (@reyescarlos) fics have a destiny vibe to them, you can feel that these two characters are meant to be together, and they will find a way. I loved the first meeting in this one; the tension in the scene was palpable, and Kim’s writing always makes you feel like every interaction is happening right in front of you. She’s magic in that way ✨.
Slowly Becoming Lovers: I love fics that show us the little moments between Carlos and TK, how they fall in love through the little things, and the way Holly (@morganaspendragonss) portrays that journey in these short vignettes is so so SO beautiful. This is one of the fics I have reread the most, according to the AO3 clicks lol, and there is a reason for that. It is truly lovely. Also, the title is inspired by one of my favorite Ben Platt songs, and fits the story perfectly! Highly recommend!
Red, White, and Royal Blue
Snowed in? Snow problem: This fic is such a blast to read, lol. I laughed so hard, and I still laugh just as hard when I reread it because the ugh!Hunter slander is top-tier. A direct quote: “Well, I’m not bunking in with Hunter or you’ll be dealing with a murder by the end of the day.” Same, Alex. Same. Forever mood.😂 Add to that, “there was only one bed” plus Rae’s (@rmd-writes) ability to write Sexual Tension™️ x 5467893204858, and this college au is a must-read. Also, THE TITLE. YAAASS. A+ pun. No notes.
Sink Beneath the Waves: This fic. THIS FIC. You know how in every fandom, there are stories that are essentially required reading, this one by @indomitable-love is one of those fics for me in the RWRB fandom. The love, the yearning, the pain, and the utter joy at Henry’s “I’m into making History.” Getting the chance to see these canon plot points from Henry’s POV is a gift, and I’m so grateful this fic exists for us to revisit again and again.

Aaaaand we're back at it again with the hands! Here's our long-awaited beta, Asher, finishing up the Shaw Pack hands sets. These quotes are from Pillow Fort Cuddles and Kisses With Your Sweet Werewolf Boyfriend and Your Sweet Werewolf Boyfriend Confesses His Love For You. Admittedly, I listen to Ash the least of the wolves, so a great big thanks to everyone who sent in quote suggestions! I had a hard time choosing on my own, lol.

I actually don't have a whole lot of commentary on these flowers, but I did save crocus just for Ash.
For colors! I know Ash is far from the only character to have the sort of watercolor thing with multiple colors going on, but he's definitely the one I associate that sort of look with. I also definitely see him as the teal and sky blue sort, but the pops of orangey-yellow really made it feel complete. So there's that on the colors.
A fun fact now! My favorite of Asher's lines is actually from his Valenweek video, and it's right at the end where he says this:
"And you’re currently holding the hand of an incredibly handsome and painfully humble man, so your taste in that department also seems exceptional if I do say so myself."
It always cracks me up. Ash is so funny :-) I love to listen to his playlist when I'm looking for something lighthearted. My penchant for comfort videos is well-known at this point (I think... eh), and I do love the very beginning of Comforted By Your Sweet Werewolf Boyfriend... it's the "Yeah, I can keep holding you. Hey, what's up? Are you doing okay?" for me, y'all, it gets me every single time.
Also a headcanon of mine: so I know it's not …uncommon (I've seen it a good few times)… for folks to hc that Asher has heterochromia, well I'm in that boat!! My Ash has one brown eye and one blue eye. My Baabe, in turn, also has one brown and one blue eye -- on the opposite sides as Asher. Just another thing that makes them fit perfectly together :-)

The relationship between pucci and weather is one of my favorites in all of jojo. Especially since everything that happened between them might have been avoided if pucci had been upfront about everything (although there’s no telling if perla and weather would have believed him anyway) One of the few instances of a plot revolving around a misunderstanding that actually works!

I can't remember where I heard this quote, but it fits their situation perfectly:
"The best kind of tragedy is one where it feels anything could've been changed to avoid it but knowing nothing could've changed because of who the characters are."
at every possible turn, at every single decision, you could've changed anything about their story and the ending could've been avoided. Had Pucci not taken the Arrow, had Wes not stopped Perla's thief, had Pucci not been at the confessional box that night, had he confronted them outright, had he gone to anyone else to split the pair up........
but at the same time, every single thing happened for a reason
of course Pucci took the arrow, Dio had piqued his interest and honestly if a weird magic man gave me something I'd want to keep it too
of course Wes stopped Perla from getting robbed, he's always been a good person at heart
of course Pucci kept what was said in the confessional booth secret, he was a devout priest in training and speaking what was in the box would violate all kinds of rules he held himself to
of course Pucci tried to split them up in secret, he loved his sister more than anything and had no reason to think there was anything dangerous afoot
and to make things even worse...... there really is no single person to blame for what happened. They were all innocent children, not even 16 years old, who had no idea what was happening. They had no reason to think they were in danger or that the choices they made could ruin their lives in a way that could never be repaired. It was simply awful, cruel chance that led things down the path they took
and that adds an extra piece of tension when the Pucci Tragedy is explained. Knowing as the audience that these people aren't going to be getting a happy ending but not fully comprehending how bad its going to be until it happens

Every single one of Harry’s exes has gone on to marry the next person they date, and with the upcoming nuptials of numbers six and seven to each other, Harry’s feeling exhausted by it all. It doesn’t really matter if he lets people assume Draco Malfoy is his boyfriend for a moment of peace. In any case, Draco’s been away for five years and there’s no way he would find out, right?
They had such a short amount of time they had left, it wouldn't matter, he could. It was such a short amount of time they had left, it mattered too much, he shouldn't. He contented himself with a squeeze of his hand and a meaningful look. He memorised the way Draco looked truly joyful with his little tree, and a diagram. Imagining what it must feel like to save the day after five years of trying and trying again.

I’ve been saving this rec for so long and now everyone and their dog have read this incredible story (as it should be!) so this became more of a love letter (hehe) to you instead, which is a fitting way to celebrate your day 🎉 I’ve been following your works for quite a while now and every new fic - or brilliant microfic! - manages to take my breath away and surprise me in new, different ways. I love your creativity and versatility, I love the way you explore different beloved tropes giving them your own twist, I love the way you depict adult Harry and Draco and above anything, I LOVE your inspiring and wistful brand of romance. If there’s something all your stories channel with no exception, is good old romance. They always hit a special place inside my heart and make it go all soft and aching, wanting to live a love story exactly like that. I love the way you depict affection between them, and I feel privileged for having the chance to read it!
Now back to Yours Truly and to why it blew me away… I think my favorite thing about it is how that summary gives us NO IDEA of what this is about. One might think this is yet another cute fake relationship to lovers only to get slapped in the face with sexy, competent and enthusiastic ECOLOGIST DRACO, and increasingly smitten Harry caught off guard by his quiet allure. Add to that perfect found family/friendship feels and a tender portrait of adult romance, we got a winner! The pacing is perfect, I felt immersed and charmed by the relaxing atmosphere, the delicious slow burn, the light fun humour and smooth sexual tension. I barely realized the fic was about to end until I reached the last couple paragraphs and was like “oh 🥺🥺 what now?”
I am particularly obsessed with their voices in here, especially this capable and serious but still kind, approachable Draco. He’s a vision, and it’s impossible not to fall in love with him learning about his life and job through Harry’s eyes. The dynamics are really fun and they get closer in an organic, teasing but sweet way. Despite the main ruse, the falling in love never feels rushed, giving them space to breathe and process all those feelings before getting together. There’s still a sense of urgency underneath, that mix of wonder and despair that blurs our minds once we realize we’re falling for someone and see that no matter the path we choose, it requires a leap of faith. I think that quote illustrated the dilemma perfectly and that’s why I picked it!
Finally, I am absolutely in love with the sense of community that you created here. Their group of friends is so united, cheerful and supportive I was conflicted between wanting more Drarry moments and more found family vibes. Luckily for us you have balanced both perfectly coming up with amazing celebration excuses. Love love love the Terries (😂😂) wedding, the meddling friends, mysterious knowing Luna, party lover Hermione and smitten Ron holding her purse!! Each character has a vibrant, charming and unique personality and they come together around Drarry as a comfort blanket, making my heart smile and hurt wishing I had something like that. Stunning mood and characterization!
Between Harry’s vulnerable honest letters and Draco’s equally vulnerable unsent ones, this fic will immediately work its way inside everyone’s heart. It is one of the loveliest, most creative takes on fake relationship + epistolary I’ve seen recently and a wonderful reading experience. Gentle, funny and honest in a soft, wistful way. Tee, it’s been a privilege to follow your work as you perfect your voice through the years. I’m always so excited to see a new fic of yours, I don’t even check the tags knowing it will hit all my boxes.
