my rewatch of becoming part 1 btvs 2x21:
Did not realize we would be starting off with DB’s terrible Irish accent (and the bad wig)
I see people talk abt “Liam’s” death and how it wasn’t tragic but it kinda is? Far from Dru’s but he was still just a regular man with a family who would’ve had a normal life, something he ends up desperately craving (barring AtS bc I don’t rmb what they said)
The PARALLEL of “close your eyes” and Angel dying in an alley? To think I never realized the first time
Lucky man, getting to drink blood from Darla
This might be one of my fav Scooby scenes. Xander teasing Cordelia, Willow on Oz’s lap, it’s so fun and sweet

I LOVE this moment, honestly I think it’s beautiful. Buffy crying over how her life changed and her parents arguing, Angel empathizing and recognizing her for all she is, inspiring him to change and as he puts it, “becoming someone”

Spike’s comment and laughing at Angelus is too funny
Kendra giving Buffy Mr. Pointy!!! Such a sweet moment (and the last time they’ll see each other)
SUCH a wonderful callback to 2x01, how Buffy’s self-centredness is what leads to the demise of her friends, and we know Angel saw it all happen, something Angelus uses to his advantage
Ngl I think Kendra and Dru’s fight could’ve been more badass
One of the best moments of the series. A simple shot of slow-mo Buffy but the scene is loaded with context and has an amazing monologue to it
Also why was there NO BLOOD on Kendra? Her throat literally got slit

this part was one of my favs of the whole show ngl so im super excited for this
Sangwoo’s Reaction To You Getting Seriously Injured During The Riot
- sangwoo had told you to stay as close to him as possible when the night came after the third game happened and someone died from deok-su
- you didn’t think that anything bad was going to happen, but you still stayed close to sangwoo when lights out happened
- soon enough, you heard a woman scream which made most people, including you, sit up in your bed and look around, trying to find out where the scream had come from
- more screams started to be heard as the lights began to flash on and off, making you quickly realize that everyone was now fighting one another and going as far as killing
- you had gotten out of the bed and started to run towards where you had last saw sangwoo when you got struck in the back by someone, causing you to collapse to the ground
- flipping over, a man held a metal pipe that came off one of the beds and tried to hit you again in the head but you held your hands up to block it, resulting in the man hitting your arms with all of his strength
- letting out a yelp at the intense pain that shot through your arms, they somehow stayed up and in the block but the man continued to hit you until your arms eventually fell down and he struck you in the stomach instead of your head, making you curl up into a ball and cough up a bit of blood
- the man continued to hit you in the stomach and back with all of his strength, leaving you laid out on the cold floor, not even defending yourself anymore with how much everything hurt
- you looked up at the man standing above as he held the pipe up once more, ready to swing for your head before someone tackled him to the ground
- “y/n! hey, y/n!”
- you turned your head to the side and saw sangwoo kneeling down beside you
- “sangwoo?” you asked quietly, not even able to hear yourself over everyone yelling and screaming
- “it’s me and gihun, come on, we need to get away somehow.” sangwoo told you before picking you up bridal style and you saw gihun standing there before both of them started running
- you didn’t even know where the two males were taking you, but you didn’t care at the moment, not when all you could feel was pain throughout practically your whole body
- suddenly, sangwoo stopped running when the old man gihun had been talking to started talking loud enough for everyone to hear, causing most people to stop what they were doing
- the lights turned on fully as the guards began to walk out and aim their guns at everyone and identifying who has died
- “are you okay?” sangwoo asked you quietly
- “i’ll be fine for the next game if that’s what your asking.” you answered at the same volume in your voice
- “good.” sangwoo replied before setting you down when one of the guards came up to the group
- later the next night, sangwoo was beside you, sitting on the ground while you were leaned up against him, both of you seated on the stairs with the rest of the group
- sangwoo didn’t say anything about it, but his actions and facial expressions were enough to show that he was worried about you and if you were going to be okay for the next game or not, since he truly was worried about you possibly dying because of a stupid riot and some asshole that kept hitting you
- while you soundly slept, sangwoo didn’t sleep at all, too many thoughts racing around his head for even to close his eyes for a split second and so he could make sure that no one would try anything again
- the next morning, sangwoo checked all of your wounds to double check that you were okay and were back to normal conditions despite the noticeable bruises that were scattered all over your body
- he would make sure to not leave your side up until the next game started, which he stood behind you to make sure that if you couldn’t pull your weight due to your injures then he was going to do it
- he might not look or sound nice like a good boyfriend, but he really cares about you and loves you so he would try to not let you get hurt again from that point on, not wanting to lose you, but he would never say it out loud
- sangwoo would act like a asshole in front of the others, but when he’s alone with you, he softens up and isn’t as mean, since he does love you after all
- but he definitely would scold you a little bit if you weren’t resting when you were supposed to

3. How many fandoms have you written for?
If I bring out umbrellas for some fandoms (for example, I'd count Mando under Star Wars but won't count Torchwood under Doctor Who), I'd say 10-11.
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Okay, so. My stats are sorted by hits, usually, and now that I've sorted them by kudos to check, I'd like to say that this is NOT representative of my work. At all. I actively recommend maybe two of these fics.
Rapture in the Dark (Malec, Rated T. It's a one-shot where nothing happens. Why.)
The Only Permanent Tenderness. (Janto, Rated T. I barely remember what happens in this one, but it's Time Lord!Ianto and also a lot of bendy space-time rules.)
For the Sake of Staying True. (Saphael, Rated T. Soulmate AU. Once again, why.)
deeper than time (13/River, Rated T, pseudo-noir setting. I actually like this one, ngl.)
In the Backroom of a Bad Dream (Jalec, Rated E. I have written better Jalec smut than this!!! But it was the first one, so I get it.)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
I do! Comments are amazing and I love talking to people. Unfortunately, I also have crippling executive dysfunction, a time-consuming job, and the terrible conviction that I can't answer one comment unless I answer my entire inbox, which means that I'm pathetically slow about it sometimes, but I try (oh my god do I try).
6. A fic you've written with the angstiest ending.
Oh man, this one is hard to decide. I write so much morbid shit. I've narrowed it down to three: Jalec (death by parabatai bond), twincest (death by anti-white walker wildfire; 8x03 hadn't aired then), and the one where Tyrion buries his siblings. Being sad while writing is my passion.
7. Do you write cross overs?
Not really? I made... an attempt of it once many years ago, but it did not really work for me and I haven't tried since. Unless mix-ups between parts of the same properties count, of course, which I suppose they don't.
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
:/ Let's not go there.
(For a more wordy answer: I don't know why I'm always fatally attracted to characters/ships that the most vapid people in the fandom seem to loathe, but here we are. The bright side of it is that it's been going on since my teens and I am completely numb towards it, so now when people gleefully go on anon and send me impressively graphic suicide baits occasionally, I can laugh at them).
9. Do you write smut?
Yep! Not in every fic, but I sure love using even the slightest excuses for it.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
A few times, yeah. Intimidating people into deleting it is... not ideal, but the way they start immediately backtracking is always hilarious, especially when it comes to 'it wasn't me my cousin posted from my account' sort of stuff.
11. Ever had a fic translated?
Yes! A few Shadowhunters ones, in Russian. I think there was one in Spanish too, and I think one in Japanese? But I'm not sure if they only asked or actually did it.
12. Have you ever co written a fic?
You bet! This massive Jalec collab right here.
13. All time Fav ship.
Ooof, hard to say, hard to say. Given that I keep circling back, on and off, around them for years now, I'd say either J/C or Jalec.
14. WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I might be far too optimistic, but if I've started posting something, I like to think that I'd finish it. Eventually. At some point. There really isn't a story I've fully abandoned. I've lost the outlines for at least one and have 0 clue where I was going with it, but I want to get it done if I have a lightbulb going off moment.
15. Writing strengths?
Going by what other people have told me, I'd say getting characterisation right and also metaphors/being flowery in sort of the right way.
16. Writing weakness?
So many run-on sentences. So many semi-cons. Also irregular writing patterns.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I just feel like it rarely works, tbh. It breaks the flow of the story if I have to go back and forth with the footnotes (or worse, Google Translate if the translation isn't included). Pet names - that I like. Buuut when it comes to entire conversations, putting it in cursive and indicating that it's in a different language does the job, IMO.
18. First Fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter, though somewhere distantly before that, in a notebook somewhere, I think I might have small vignettes of H20: Just Add Water fanfic, and my very first misguided attempts at smut. I was like 10, so I'm not gonna go through my old stuff and check what that memory's about. ;D
19. What's your fav fic you've written so far?
storm within skin, no doubt. It is my one true love for many reasons - I love that it gives the characters a semi-plausible happy ending, I love the journey it takes them on, I love writing about the sea (my other one true love), and - last but definitely not least - I'm ridiculously proud of the fact that I made people feel bad for Euron Greyjoy for even a second.

skz and ateez! maybe i’ll dabble into a one-shot with other groups, but as of now i’m very content with that :3
3. how long have you been writing?
is it cheesy to say forever lmao? i have relatives i don’t recall ever meeting telling me i told them stories i made up when i could barely talk. i also have journals upon journals full of stories starting from when i was is the first grade, leading up to when i learned to type.
writing is kinda what i wanna do with my life, so i haven’t ever really stopped in all that time. so yeah haha, forever i guess🤷🏼♀️
4. what platforms do you post your stories?
tumblr and ao3!
5. what is your favourite genre to write?
probably angst, tbh. but like, stories that have lots of angst, but also moments of fluff and romance to balance it out.
but also fantasy stories. that’s my fav genre to both read and write.
6. are you a pantser or a planner.
a planner. 100%. i don’t think i’ve ever started writing a story without at least an outline. sometimes i change things along the way if i really want to, but that’s the only time i go in with no game plan.
7. one-shot or multi-chapter?
oh, both! both for sure. i enjoy how much development you can build over a multi-chapter fic, but they do get to be a lot of work sometimes lmaoo. one-shots are just really fun. not as big of a commitment, but at the same time, you often can’t dive as deep into things.
8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?
for writing i would say 6k, because that’s when i start to get a bit tuckered out lmaoo.
for reading, the longer the better. if i’m invested, i love getting a bunch of content all at once ☺️
9. what is your longest story?
indulgence! it’s not done yet, but it’s currently sitting at 28.8k.
10. what story did you enjoy writing the most?
i would say indulgence, but i’m ngl this last chapter has been destroying me with writers block. so maybe daisies? it was very cute and fun and i flew through it a lot faster than i can usually write.
11. favourite request you’ve written and why?
as of now, i don’t write requests. i have too many ideas stored up to write first. 🥴
12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?
uh.
that’s a really good question lmao. and i honestly have never thought about it. probably? i mean, i guess i’ve written a lot of strangers to lovers so far?

that i am currently writing writing? 2. but as for plotted out and some dialogue sitting in my notes? at least 10.

1) comma abuse. i just, use a lot of commas, maybe too many sometimes.

And then we get to the best scene of this episode. Walker and Micki along with the others about to ‘’plan’’ the new raid so they can cover the missing 300K, walker being stressed about the August situation, shaking his hand and visibly trembling, MICKI HOLDING HIS HAND TO GROUND HIM SOMEONE TAKE ME AWAY I AM D E C E A S E D. THAT SO VERY TINY SCENE MOVED ME SO MUCH SHUT UP I LOVE THEM I LOVE THEM I LOVE THEM.
THE WHOLE SHOOTOUT GOING THERE ENTIRE SCENE!!!! YES BADASS TEXAS RANGERS AWESOME GUN FIGHTING BAM BAM BAM.
Also i really loved the flashbacks of Duke’s undercover time. They were really well done and flowed with the story so much, how is this show real.

Unorganised thoughts on Trails of Cold Steel III:
...I’m gonna need like a week to process that
I guess I know why people hate George now!

This is the best game in the Cold Steel series so far. Easily
I... there’s no way they’re all really dead, right? This series has been completely toothless about killing anyone who isn’t a villain until now, no way they’re permanently killing someone who’s been here since practically day 1, no way. Show me a body
And even then I’ll doubt it with all these revivals happening all over the place
‘He’s HIDING’ I sob as I apply clown make-up
Ben Diskin did not need to go so hard on the voice acting at Millium’s death he did not need to do that to me
My god when Angie drove into the graveyard and my PS4 popped up a little notification telling me it was a blocked scene, the tension in me... and I never saw that coming, I’ll have to see if it was foreshadowed at all by replaying CS1 and 2 some time
I saw Lughman being a baddie a mile away (a mysterious professor turning out to be evil in a Trails game? UNPRECEDENTED!) but he’s Alisa’s dad!?
Neat writing trick actually, since they probably knew we’d guess the former, they blindside us with the latter
I can’t express how happy it made me that the Rufus battle was Machias Jusis Elliot. My dream team!
Estelle and Joshua got mentioned so much I figured they’d make a surprise appearance at the end and save the day

So. Characters:
Rean: Rean is once again moderately more interesting than he was before, but still the least interesting person in the game. I guess he’s got some guilt that’s actually justified now, that’s cool?
I ship him with Crow, not because the pairing really appeals to me that much, but because being shipped with Crow would totally piss Rean off and I find that extremely funny
His relationship with Altina is the best relationship he’s ever had with a female character and it is 100% because she’s the only girl he’s never ship teased with
(I don’t have an issue with the concept of ship tease itself, I have an issue with Rean-ship tease because 1. I still truly do not understand why so many girls like him so much and 2. None of it will ever canonically go anywhere)
(Seriously I’m so tempted to write a breakdown of why every other guy in Erebonia is more desirable than Rean)
Juna: I like Juna. I realised early on that she and Kurt remind me of Estelle and Joshua, without being carbon copies, and that’s good. I also think her relationship with Rean was really interesting - ‘I don’t know how to feel about you because you saved my life, but it also wouldn’t have needed saving if it weren’t for your country’s actions, which you’ve played a major role in - but now I’m being forced to confront that you’re a human being too’ is a really complicated situation for her. It’s a lot more interesting than ‘I don’t like you because you accidentally got a face full of chest’, Alisa
I also really liked using her, I ended up loading her with the Platinum Pecky Medal and defensive stuff, and she was a wall, she took an S-craft from Arianrhod in her stride! My buff girl!
She should’ve just been the new protagonist ngl
Kurt: Kurt had a lot to live up to, seeing as his brother is my favourite minor character. And oh does he succeed, Kurt is my favourite of New VII, he’s a good straight man, he’s great in battle, I like his arc, I like his friendship with Juna, I like Kurt
Altina: I was not sure about Altina just... being a student now. But damn if she didn’t have the best character arc in the game. I only did her final bonding event on a whim, but it’s the best one I saw. My girl Allie deserves the damn world
I really, truly believe those three have a bond as well, they’re very well written as a group. This was a problem I had with Old VII, the fact that so many of them just... didn’t have relationships with each other. How do, say, Fie and Machias feel about each other? I have no idea. But this group has a fantastic dynamic and it makes that ending so much more effective
It’s like I praised Crossbell for, really - having a small core group is much more manageable in terms of giving them all equal screen time and getting me to care about them
Musse: Uh, kind of one-note and annoying, honestly. I don’t hate her or anything, but like... she’s either Being Mysterious or Hitting On Her Teacher (I hate it I hate it so much). It’s just hard to care about someone who’s clearly so fake, I guess? I’m definitely interested in her, but like... I don’t really like her
Ash: Poor boy. I thought Ash was such an interesting character (and man do I love having someone around who does not like Rean, and never really changes his mind about it). Ash is very well done imo
Alisa: Alisa is good when the issue is her family drama, and is so goddamn boring when it comes to Rean. Nothing new there
Elliot: I love his little ponytail I love it he’s so cute I want to hug him so bad
Laura: Winner of the ‘best new outfit’ award (was never that fond of her war outfit, but this one is perfect). Still good, but not notably so. I feel so bad for Laura, she tries so hard to matter, but she’s by far the character you’d have the easiest time lifting out of the game
And while I love Elliot... same situation really. You could go back to the start and have one character named Elliaura who likes swords and music and has two big-shot dads, and you wouldn’t lose much
Machias: Took down Rufus, yeah, destroy your best friend (boyfriend)’s evil family! Winner of the ‘worst new outfit’ award, AGAIN. Also winner of ‘dorkiest S-craft’. I did his final bonding event first, and according to Playstation trophies it’s the least popular one! Stop sleeping on my boy Machias guys, I know he was annoying in the first game but I love him :(
Gaius: Special award to Gaius for finally being interesting! Boy’s a Gralsritter now, did not see that coming!
And of course it happened off screen. Because god forbid interesting stuff happen to Gaius when we’re actually around
Oh also goddamn, that is a beautiful man
Emma: Don’t really like the new outfit. It’s kind of remarkable that she’s so important but I keep forgetting she exists. Exposition witch who sometimes just doesn’t deliver the exposition I guess
Fie: Still my fav girl. Wish there had been more focus on her feelings about her dad coming back to life. Like that she’s a bracer
Jusis: Wasn’t sure how to feel about his newly close friendship with Millium because I was concerned that I was meant to ship it (by far my least favourite thing about this franchise is that that was not an unreasonable concern, as it wouldn’t even be the most inappropriate relationship in this game alone). Very, very glad it was confirmed sibling-y (not that it’s stopped them before). He didn’t really get to do anything else, sadly, but he’s good as always
I did the Purebread contest with him, and he made bread from coffee beans Machias gave him, the Ferdibert Fire Emblem energy-

My kids Tita and Agate are back and completely overshadowed by people teasing this almost 30-year old man about being in love with a 17 year old that he’s only ever claimed to see as a sister, I swear to god

Michael’s fine, I guess? He’s kind of bland but I guess that’s kind of the point and I like him just fine. He serves his purpose well
I’ve never really liked Claire all that much, but she’s fine in this one again I suppose. A bit disappointed by the Lechter reveals really, I had expected more, to be honest
Aurelia is a fun character and I enjoy her as the principal. Want to see her fight Cassius

I love my girl Annabelle, but she’s the only reason I didn’t get all the character profiles (how was I meant to know I could even go to the highway at that point hmmm Falcom!?)
They picked a good selection of returning Thors students. Even Dorothee isn’t as annoying as she used to be. Hilarious that she’s the only one who didn’t get a profile
Juna gave a great big speech about how awesome the SSS are and namedrops everyone EXCEPT WAZY! My FAVOURITE Crossbell character! So offensive!
Oh speaking of offensive I took Machias to the Mishy show and was told he and Rean did a Mishy dance but they didn’t show it, what the hell-
Playable Olivier! Olivier back story! I could write a goddamn essay on why Olivier is such a great character. Glaring at you Falcom
I miss Mueller :(
Ada Grant is wonderful and I want better things for her
Rufus is a damn great villain just because of how much sense his actions suddenly make when you know that one little detail of him not actually being Jusis’s brother
I hate Cedric but like, in a way where I’m having fun hating him. That little bitch
Literally what do you even actually want Osbourne
I still cannot stand Elise. Something I realised playing this game is that one of the things that stops the Estelle and Joshua relationship from being as weird as it could be is that they don’t look at all alike, it’s very clear they’re not related in the slightest. Elise and Rean look like they really could be siblings, and come to think, so do Lloyd and Cecile. Which is also teased, to a lesser extent. It would be so much less uncomfortable if they just swapped Elise and Alfin’s models ngl (though still not good)
inb4 the final plot twist of the whole series is that Estelle and Joshua actually were biological siblings all along
This game looks so much better than its predecessors. Having the models being a little rounder and softer looking makes it look much more like an updated version of the original style than the complete departure that was CS1 and 2. Every time there was a flashback, Rean would be like ‘back then...’ and I’d feel compelled to say out loud ‘when we were shiny, and looked bad!’
‘Evil ancient magic corrupts people into making them do bad things!’ is... honestly a bit of a cop out that I did not expect from this series
I found Rean telling Patrick ‘leave room for Aidios when dancing with my sister’ extremely funny. Rean would totally be a Christian summer camp counsellor in the real world
I honestly would have enjoyed it a lot more if Alfin decided to cause a scandal and have her first dance with Elise, but we can’t have such luxuries I suppose
When you get that book on dystopias, very clever to put the author on the last page. Seeing the name Gideon gave me such a start
Racquel was easily my fav new location
Leeves > Trista no doubt, maybe I’m just biased because it looks a lot like the village I grew up in but it’s just such a nicer design
Also the branch campus > main campus purely for being smaller, making the filler segments between field trips more bearable
I prefer the longer but fewer chapters set-up, I think
There’s so many sad faces in this write up :(
Back when I played Sky SC, I said something about how one of the themes is ‘you are not defined by your trauma’. I now think it would be more accurate to say that the theme of all the games (but especially the Sky arc) is ‘don’t let your worst experiences define you’
Because there are characters who define themselves by their traumas and worst experiences - and those characters are all villains, or miserable, or both. Like, they don’t phrase it as such, but the requirement to be an Ouroboros enforcer is ‘have trauma and define yourself by it’
And both Joshua and Renne’s arcs are about learning not to do that
Equally, the idea that ‘it’s much easier to not to define yourself by your trauma when you have a good support system that wants the best for you’ is a big theme as well
I just think that’s a really interesting idea for a JRPG series to tackle, idk
I can’t believe I’m at the last game! This series has been my life for the past near-half a year, what do I do when I finish it?
...go back and play Sky FC, maybe?

I’mma go with Fake, bc the assumption is that they don’t mean to be in a romantic relationship at all, but slowly develop the feels after getting to know each other, which is basically the answer above. I’m sure there are contexts where I could enjoy Secretly Dating, but I tend to be wary of secrecy/hiding things from others in their lives ^ ^;
3. Enemies to Lovers or Best Friends to Lovers
Honestly love both, but I guess in the case of Enemies to Lovers, I see Friend being a necessary middle step in between? Hence Best Friend. Friendship to me is a MUST in ships I enjoy!

YEP haha! Long Distance angst can be nice too but ehhhhhh

A bit tricky, because usually I like reincarnation stories IF the characters died a miserable tragic death in canon and it’s like a second chance. BUT that’s not the only ways I “enjoy” character death, because I like ghost/coming back to life stories too? So I guess it’s not so much character death that I enjoy, but I like the angst and potential for hurt/comfort and character growth that comes from it, even if in my own stories I always add a way for them to overcome that ^ ^; Hey, it’s fiction, I’m allowed to indulge myself!
14. Arranged Marriage or Accidental Marriage
Mmm I can see either of them appealing (esp if it’s in a fake dating-esque, let’s slowly develop feels type setting), but neither are tropes that immediately jump out at me!
15. High School Romance or Middle-Aged Romance
I guess I prefer Middle-Aged bc in the case of slow built, it gives them more time together, and it’s easier to imagine a future afterwards? Or maybe I’m just getting old ^ ^;

Time Travel can be awesome esp for fix-its, but as a trope in general, yessss isolated together haha!

Rooooommatesss!!!! The appeal of neighbors is that they’re like, slightly more far away roommates anyway ^ ^;

Magic! Much broader application I feel, modern/historical/fantasy settings all possible! I tend to like magical aesthetic better too, tho i do love me some star wars haha

Especially from a visual art perspective, I just find designing genderbend costumes to be really fun! And it gives me a chance to draw more feminine bodies when most of my fav charas tend to be male ^ ^;

Both, tho I feel like I tend to create more crack ^ ^; My angst needs hurt/comfort and eventual happy ending and that’s more effort than just something silly lol
21. Apocalyptic or Mundane
Honestly if there’s a good apocalyptic story I’m all for it, and I love Mad Max aesthetic so defs not saying no! But mundane and enjoying the simple things is lovely <3

LINGUA by kurgaya - this series is finished and consists of 5 works, all one-shots! it’s a hard of hearing kakashi-centric series, filled with lots of fluff and bonding moments 😌 my fav out of this series is PHONEMES because kurgaya writes tsunade so mf good 😭
if we can’t be together, i will leave this world behind by tenzosgarden - super cute kakayama anbu fic! hurt/comfort, but also really sweet 🥺

Good chapter, all in all! My thoughts will be much shorter on this one than on 127 because I really hadn’t a clue what to expect from this chapter as opposed to 127. I also read some discussion before writing this so that may influence this, I dunno
Jumping right into things with the airships and answering a question the fandom had since 127: why didn’t the Yaegerists destroy the airships? To push it even further, not only was the question answered, but this fact became a plot-relevant detail as well.
Random thought, but it’s interesting to see Hanji talk about the future prospects of recapturing the uninhabited rumbled lands once this is all over
It’s absolutely divine to see Hanji and Magath strategising and working together
Love love LOVE the panel of everyone getting equipped for battle. I’m dead at Reiner’s “Ah shit here we go again” expression. Very cool to see Annie holding a blade handle again after so long! Jean and Mikasa looking like models as usual, and I love Pieck floating in the background there
So at first I thought the steam was the colossals entering the water on Paradis’ shores. Apparently it’s all the way over at Marley and the rumbling already reached the north. That’s fast! And the fact that the steam can be seen all the way over on Paradis, does that mean that Marley really isn’t all too far away from Paradis?
Falco and Gabi on the lookout are the cutest ever. Glad we get to see my son this chapter!

Very interesting to see Annie talk using revenge as a frame of reference. It does show how long she’s been under. Pieck explaining the situation to her made me realise we need more interactions between these two
These panels make it obvious how much weight Reiner has lost. Jesus, look at his torso, his neck. He could rival Berthoto in his post-depression height to weight ratio
I hadn’t even considered that the Yaegerists consisted of their comrades, not the way it’s presented by Jean anyway. It makes a lot of sense that they don’t want to fight and kill their old friends
Annie is to Jean this chapter what Jean was to Hanji the last chapter. Asking the really hard questions in response to a pacifist mindset.
Armin has gotten thick, wow
If I still shipped aruani I’d consider this a strong moment but now it just feels less impactful bhjvk
The dam finally broke for Connie! All these past chapters, he’s been off looking stoic and determined, but it looks like his emotions are finally showing outwardly as well. Poor fucking kid, he’s really seen too much
And he does raise a very important moral question there. With the realisation we see him make later in the chapter, it’s also a very fitting thing for him to wonder about. He’s just not ready to start killing, even if it’s the best option for their cause, and I can respect that he has issues with such a plan.
Annie’s expression... hurts me soul, man
I don’t think I follow yet how she came to the conclusion that JCAM wouldn’t have destroyed the walls if it were them. I don’t agree nor disagree, because I don’t think that it’s possible to estimate that. The JCAM of today definitely wouldn’t have done it, but the JCAM of today are adults who didn’t grow up as child soldiers under heavy propaganda and who were used as disposable weapons. It’s impossible to compare the two with each other. Is Annie saying this because she as the adult she is today would do it all again, as she stated a few chapters back? I’m sure discussion in the next few days will clear this line up.
It’s gonna take me a few days of thinking to understand what exactly that callback to Eren saying he’s just like Reiner means, and how it connects to Annie’s words. Does he think back of it because he likens himself to Eren, or because he likens Eren to himself? It feels like Eren’s saying that he would’ve broken the wall, which is exactly what he’s doing right now with the rumbling, but what do I know? I’m usually dead wrong about things like this.
I can admire Reiner giving JCAM a choice to not fight the ones they hold dear. After all this time and despite everything, he still holds his old comrades dear enough to spare them from this battle
Hanji’s ready to kill, and I understand it. People are already dying in Marley and there’s no more time left to be humane about things. It’s just like the decision to torture Sannes, like the decision to kill RB given the chance. In an ideal world they’d be able to talk and take their time, but right now they unfortunately don’t have that luxury.
Poor fucking Pieck, Annie, and Reiner. Learning they may already be too late and the worst can have already happened. And Connie’s face. This is the most emotion we’ve seen out of him in a long time that wasn’t just flat out bitterness. He looks destroyed.
Magath shoving Onyankopon had me gigglin’, ngl
It was something else seeing Yelena so emotional and pained. Have we seen her like this before? In a situation where she’s not her usual confident, in control self but she’s genuinely in pain or scared? And then her crying... She’s growing on me more and more the more I see her, now I’m sorta hoping she survives this story
Magath’s confession... I’m gonna be honest, when I first read this it felt like it came out of nowhere and felt forced. Rereading it, I can see where it came from. It’s been on his mind for quite some time since it happened and the fact that they suddenly, just like that, ran out of time probably got him to decide that if there’s ever a time to say this, it’s now
It also proves the idea that right before someone is about to crack, they double down in their ideals. It’s a type of stubbornness all humans have and it often leads to conflict. Doubling down didn’t work, so he finally allowed himself to accept something he didn’t want to be true but somewhere knew was true anyway. That’s growth. I did think Magath would end up coming through in the end
Good on him, a Marleyan, to tell Eldians that the one truth Eldians had always been taught, that they are responsible for their ancestors’ sins, isn’t true at all and that they do not deserve the blame. It just doesn’t hold the same relieving value if an Eldian says it. That was sorely needed, and for Magath specifically to say that is a good thing!
And to tell it to Pieck, Annie, and Reiner as well? That’s a very important detail as well. Done are the days of only absolving the 104th when the warriors deserve it just as much
‘Forgive but don’t forget, teach our children what happened without pointing the finger’ is such an important key idea and I’m glad it’s been put into words. Maybe the school kids from the s4 preview are the outcome of that?
I’m gonna wait for the official translation to look at Armin’s refusal because I don’t believe I fully grasp what he means there
Floch implying that the death of Kiyomi’s nation is a good thing, that she no longer has to worry, shows just how wrong his entire school of thought is. He’s literally “can’t worry about your homeland if your homeland doesn’t exist anymore”.
Kiyomi’s words as parallel to Erwin’s? Love it

When Armin and Connie first realised that the plan failed, I was sure they were surrounded by Yaegerists on all sides and they’d stand no chance. That’s also the moment I accepted that one of them was gonna get KO’d. I honestly expected Connie to bite the dust
When Mikasa first crashed through the window, I thought that she was Levi. Look at that face! It’s such an Ackerman face! It took me a few pages to determine whether that was Mikasa or Levi, even if I knew Levi definitely wouldn’t have been a possibility.
God, how good it feels to see Floch so desperate and distressed! That panel where he’s on his stomach and shoots his anchor out of the window is hilarious
Floch thinks Jean is dead, so he didn’t call for the Yaegerists to attack him. I wonder if that’ll play out somehow. But it does show that he believed that Armin spoke the truth when he said that Jean and Onyankopon were killed. So does he still think the warriors are not on their side (until he’s obv proven wrong, ofc)?

Armin being shot had me bamboozled. If he still were my fav character I would’ve definitely had a heart attack, but even now that fucking HURT and caught me completely off-guard. Especially since it’s not just one shot, but three, all of which hit a major artery in one way or another. I was sure Armin was out for a good moment here
Oh wow. I didn’t realise it the first time reading, but the second time? God damn, the parallels between SC and warriors in that particular scene. Just like how Jean and Connie talked to Bertholdt and Reiner about how they’d grow old together and share a good drink once this was all over but their betrayal destroyed that possibility and nullified their camaraderie, Samuel is talking to Connie and Armin about how they’d retake the lands and raise as much cattle as they wanted once this was all over but their betrayal made that impossible. Connie got it. Connie understood in that moment and that’s currently emotionally fucking me over

And then there’s those last two pages. Wow. I didn’t even know what I was reading when I first read them, I hadn’t a clue that I was reading the exact narrative I’d been begging to see for many many years. And when I realised it, fuck, that felt good
Connie is betraying comrades, dearly beloved people whom he shared good times with, whom he made promises to, but who unfortunately ended up being on the opposite side of the conflict as he is, because it’s what his goal requires of him.
The way Samuel words it, it’s even a direct parallel to the way the 104th worded their grievances to Bertholdt and Reiner when they were running away with Eren and Ymir. And when Connie finally answers “You are our comrades, but...” it just clicks. They’re his comrades, they are valued, and yet they still have to die. Just like they did in Clash. Just like they did in RtS. He’s in the exact same situation as RB were years ago, and he’s 100% aware of how this is what’s happening
And it’s the fact that Connie doesn’t use this memory to back down to prove to himself that he’s ‘better’, letting Armin and possibly himself get killed in the process, but instead reevaluates his stance and recontextualises what he knew back then, that’s exactly what I’ve been wishing for for so long
I intend to make a separate post on this because I have so many thoughts on this subject. This tiny detail changes so much for me, clears up so many of the doubts I had, and gives me so much hope that I’m sure will be shattered over the next few weeks but let me DREAM
