Give me older Steve and Eddie, in their mid-thirties, an established couple at this point, seeing Lord of the Rings the Fellowship of the Ring in theaters in 2001.
Steve never did get around to reading the books but he loves Eddie and its a movie, so what could go wrong? He liked Star Wars well enough didn't he?
And the intro narrations plays, a woman's voice explaining history and legend in soothing lilting tones as the story begins to play out on the screen. Steve barely touches his popcorn the entire time as he meets Frodo and Gandalf, as Bilbo disappears from his own birthday party and he gives the ring to his oldest friend, as Frodo and Sam make their way to Bree, as the Ring Wraiths chase Frodo and Arwen through the forrests.
Steve grips Eddie's hand tightly as Arwen tells Frodo not to give in, he misses the loving grin that Eddie shoots him before turning back to the screen.
Gandalf falls, Borromir sacrifices himself, Sam tells Frodo he doesn't mean to leave him. That he won't, he can't.
Steve struggles to wipe his face surreptitiously, he still has Eddie's hand gripped in his left while his right is clamped tightly over his mouth, he ends up letting the tears flow freely, it's fine, he's fine.
The last few hours have flown by and the lights come on slowly as Steve sniffles quietly, he swings his right arm across his face roughly and laughs softly as Eddie asks him how he liked it with a small grin.
"It was alright," Steve says with a watery voice, he smiles at the cackle Eddie throws his way. Eddie helps him up and draws him into a long hug, not caring of the people filing out of the rows of seats around them.
"You okay sweetheart?" Eddie murmurs as he pulls away.
Steve nods and sniffs once more before looking up to catch Eddie's eye, "there are two more after this huh?"
Eddie snorts and brings his arm around Steve's shoulders as they begin to follow the last of the stragglers, "Of this story, yeah why?"
Steve shakes his head with a small laugh, "might finally give those books you love so much a peek".
Eddie hums and leans in to press a soft kiss to Steve's temple, "I think we can arrange that".

How else has Steve used crying on demand for evil?
Eddie, shouting: Stevie, C’mere! The people want to know what evil you use your crying powers for
Steve: Uh…when I was a kid, my parents-
Eddie, immediately regretting asking if its going to bring up his parents: Oh god
Steve: So like my parents always wanted us to be perfect when we were out in public. Especially at benefits for the mayor and
Steve, tearing up: If your eyes get a little watery
Steve, lip wobbling: And you do that I’m-about-to-cry thing with your bottom lip
Steve, voice cracking: And your voice breaks just a little when you talk
Steve, going back to not looking like he’s about to cry: You get the big slice of chocolate cake with chocolate icing that you wanted and no one complains about it being messy until after you get home.
Eddie: That’s not using your powers for evil. That’s getting one over on people that suck. That’s a good thing.
Steve: One time I was mad at Tommy so I went to his house when he wasn’t there and bawled my eyes out to his mom and said he was being mean to me even though he wasn’t, and then he couldn’t go on the end of year field trip in sixth grade.
Steve: I had my first kiss on that trip
Eddie: With who?
Steve:
Steve: His wife

we talk about steve having a father-crush on wayne, like he wants to be adopted by him or whatever
what about steve just actually having a crush on wayne LMAO. somethin about gruff older men really does it for him so he gets all nervous and blushy around wayne and/or hopper
it drives eddie absolutely insane that wayne can make steve giggle like a schoolgirl and that wayne purposefully goes along with it. wayne just likes making the harrington boy smile, he’s too young to look so tired.
(eddie hasn’t pieced together that steve’s eye rolls and fond smiles he gives him are little confessions of how much he loves him)

older!eddie calls you ‘bunny’. 18+.
what seems to be an affectionate, sweet, cutesy little nickname actually came from a rather filthy night the two of you had.
you’d been bouncing on his cock for what felt like hours, climbed on top and riding him, hips swirling, slamming against his hairy thighs. your fingers raked over his soft tummy, coated with a smattering of hair that went to his base, coarse hair providing friction for you to grind your clit into.
“god, I love it when you bounce on my cock like this, sweetheart.” eddie grunted, calloused hands gripping your hips, lazily thrusting up into you. “you just bounce and bounce and bounce.” he grinned, hearing your little whines and mewls, face pinched in pleasure.
“you’re just like a little rabbit, aren’t ya? hoppin’ all over my dick?” eddie purred. you clamped around him, hips lifting and dropping deeper, harder. “fuck- you’re just my little bunny, aren’t ya?”
you nodded, whimpers tumbling out of your mouth as he thrusted into you, meeting your hips. “say it for me, baby.” eddie rasped, cigarette stained lungs from years of smoking making his voice huskier, sexier. “say you’re my little, bunny.”
“I-I’m- oh, fuck- I’m your little bunny.” you whimpered, nails digging in harder, grinding your hips in slow circles.
eddie chuckled, fingers reaching around to rub your clit, sending shockwaves up your spine, deep, pornographic moans ripping out of your throat.  he liked you like this. so fucked out and desperate you’d do anything he said, say anything he wanted.
“again.” eddie said, fingers pressing into your clit, tight circles rubbing against your sensitive button.
the coil in your stomach was threatening to snap, so close you were practically seeing stars already. eddie knew it. he thrusted up into you, fingers rubbing you as you gasped, head leaning back tipping towards the ceiling.
“i’m your bunny, i’m your little bunny, eddie. oh my fuck-“ chest heaving, you fell forward, head spinning and resting in the crook of his inked neck.
later, eddie’s limbs were tangled with yours, sheets sprawled over the two of you. he had a cigarette lit between his lips, blowing the smoke away from you while you cling to his chest. you were always clingy after sex, pliant and needy; he loved it.
“you fallin’ asleep on me, bunny?” eddie grumbled, grinning down at you as your eyelids fluttered.
you snorted. “that nicknames sticking?” you asked, cheeky smile hidden in his chest.
eddie grinned, bumming the cigarette and turning, kissing you deep. soft pillowy lips catching yours, the faint taste of nicotine on his tongue. his beard ticked your top lip, nose rubbing against yours. you scrunched yours up, giggling as he grinned at you.
“g’night, my little bunny.”

Steve and Gareth as cousins warm up, part two!
First part is HERE.
Next part is HERE.
Reminder: Someone on Twitter proposed Steve and Gareth as cousins whose family had a major falling out, and then someone else brought it up recently and long story short no idea who to credit the idea too bc you can’t search for SHIT on Twitter but it's theirs not mine.
Warnings: Steve and Robin Get (canon-S3) Drugged.
"I'm just saying the other theater is cheaper." Eddie said around the straw jammed in his mouth.
He carried the largest bucket of popcorn Starcourt’s movie theater offered, alongside the two boxes of candy he'd also demanded Gareth buy him.
"Easier to sneak into, you mean." Gareth corrected, with his significantly smaller bag of popcorn. His, he planned to share with Jeff, Grant having snuck in his own food.
Gareth himself would have snuck in the cheaper (and far larger) snacks, but Eddie had thrown a fit about going to the mall to see a new movie instead of Hawkin’s far older theater.
Of course, the older theater also had several disadvantages, key of which was terrible seating, and so, Gareth had bribed him with whatever treats he wanted.
His wallet took a hit but fuck it, at least they got to actually see the screen.
Not that they even made it into the fucking theater, because someone chose that moment to crash into Eddie.
Popcorn kernels and soda flew everywhere, with Eddie only avoiding it landing on him and Gareth both by years of dealing with this exact bullshit in school. Of course, the mall wasn’t school, and neither of them had their guard up.
"What the hell man--" Eddie spat, immediately on the defense, as they both turned to see what jackass wanted to cause problems this time.
Except Gareth had recognized the person who bumped him.
"Steve?" Gareth asked, causing  his cousin to totter around and face him. He was in his Scoops Ahoy uniform, which remained to be absolutely ridiculous, but that hadn't been what had drawn Gareth's attention.
No, that would be the absolute wrecked face staring at him with a doped up grin.
All thoughts of the movie immediately faded away.
"What happened to your face!?" Gareth demanded, immediately stepping up into his cousin's space, eyes darting over the damage.
Recent black eye, split lip, blood splatter all down one side of his neck, nevermind his clothes…
"Robs!" Steve called over his shoulder instead of answering, body moving as if he was walking on a wildly rocking boat and not solid ground. "Come 'ere!"
He beamed, which had the horrific effect of resplitting his lips. "Meet Gareth, my baby cousin!"
"I am two years younger than you." Gareth argued on automatic. He didn’t look to see how Eddie took this little piece of info--he’d figure out what he’d say later, when Steve wasn’t covered in blood.
It did not stop Robin from reaching out to pinch his cheeks.
She too, Gareth realized, was clearly high on something, both of them giggling and weaving on their feet.
At least Robin didn’t appear to be hurt--or at least, not hurt as badly as Steve.
"What the hell did you two take?" Gareth demanded, looking between them as he quickly put his popcorn back off to the side.
"We didn't take anything, dad." Steve said bossily, rolling his eyes. He spoke in a voice so unlike himself that Gareth knew his own face was doing something crazy.
Not that he could stop it because what the hell.
"What my patriotic friend here means is that we don't know." Robin added, smacking a hand onto Steve’s shoulder.
(The entire sentence was slurred and sounded like she'd shoved candy in her mouth before she started talking.)
"You don't know?!” Gareth asked, taking in the way Steve flinched when Robin touched him. Added a mental note to check his cousin's shoulder too. “How do you not know?"
Gareth wasn't panicking, he wasn't, except he absolutely fucking was. Steve's dad was going to kill him, disown him, and throw the body out of his house--in that exact order.
Gareth’s parents wouldn’t take him in, not unless his mom felt she could use it to one up her sister in some way which meant that Gareth was going to have to sneak Steve in and out of the house like he was some--some puppy Gareth was trying to keep and--
"Did someone give you two something?" Eddie asked, interrupting Gareth’s spiraling.
"Give is a very strong word." Steve said with a snicker.
Robin nodded so much she looked like a bobble head. She leaned in, nearly falling into Gareth in the process. “In fact it’s not the word I’d use at all! I’d use…” She trailed off, screwing her eyes up in thought.
“Made us?” Steve suggested as Gareth finally gave in to his instincts and reached out to steady his cousin. “Forced us?”
“Socked it to us!” Robin added with a weird amount of glee, and the two of them once again collapsed into giggles.
Literally, forcing Gareth to try and steady them both.
Which meant Eddie was right--they’d been drugged. It made perfect sense-- Steve wasn’t the kind to experiment with drugs beyond weed. Had in fact, given a very long lecture about how he’d make Gareth go on runs with him if he ever found out Eddie had given him anything stronger than weed.
There was no way he’d change now, and especially not around a jobsite. Particularly one as busy as the mall.
"You can't tell anybody." Robin continued, eyes so wide they were more white than pupils. "But we got truth serumed!"
As if that made any fucking sense.
Gareth turned a half frantic, half disbelieving look to Eddie--whose own face scared him almost as badly as Steve's did.
He was hiding it, and doing a good job of doing so, but Eddie was the one person Gareth knew better than Steve.
Right now? Eddie Munson was furious.
Not mad, or upset, or even as pissed as he had been the time Tommy Hagan had thrown his drug box in the river.
He was enraged.
"Hey." He said, and the only thing more shocking than realizing Eddie was this mad was hearing him talk in a calming, almost playful voice. "Sounds like you two sailors had a pretty rough time. Why don't we go to the bathroom and get you both cleaned up? I bet you'll feel a little better."
It was clearly the right move, because both of them looked downright delighted.
"He thinks we're sailors!" Steve said, cupping a hand around his mouth and leaning to talk in Robin’s ear as if he was whispering. (He wasn’t.)
Robin’s grin grew impossibly wider, before Eddie stepped forward to help Gareth half guide half herd the two into the nearest bathroom.
"I know you." Robin said, squinting dramatically as Eddie opened the door with his regular flair, bellowing for anyone in the place to get out.
It was Steve's turn to nod enthusiastically. "That's Eddie, Robbie." He said.
"I'm honored King Steve knows such a humble peasant's name." Eddie bowed as Gareth finally got both Steve and Robin into the bathroom, trying to get them to sit on the floor before they fell on their asses.
Which just made a hurt expression appear on Steve's face. "’Course I do. You have really pretty hair."
It had the effect of making Eddie look like he’d been punched and Gareth had to quickly turn his bark of laughter into a cough.
"I bet it's soft.” Steve continued, as he pressed his back against the tiled wall and slowly slid down to the floor. “Gare, is it soft?"
"It's very soft." Gareth agreed, trying to wet a paper towel with shaking hands. Finally he gave up entirely, ripping the plaid sweater he had tied around his waist and shoving one of the sleeves into the sink.
“Oh my god.” Robin said abruptly, sitting up from her own slouched spot on the floor as if she’d suddenly been stricken sober. “It’s him! He’s your type!”
“What’s my type?” Steve turned to her, as Eddie leaned his back against the door to the bathroom, blocking anyone else from entering.
“It’s like--like Nancy! But boy Nancy.” Robin seemed to think this made a ton of sense, and given Steve’s immediate groan maybe it did to him, but Gareth was too freaked out to even begin to process what the hell they were on about.
Probably nothing, given they’d been drugged.
Eddie seemed to pick up on his general anxiety and poor attempts at shoving down his own freakout, because he gently called out Gareth’s name.
“I think it’s wet enough.” He added with a raised eyebrow. His eyes drifted purposefully to the sink and with a curse, Gareth snapped shut the water off.
His hands were still shaking.
“Give it to me.” Eddie said gently, moving to take the shirt from Gareth’s hands. “Here, swap me Gare, and guard the door.”
Gareth did, as Eddie knelt down to take Steve’s chin in one hand, and carefully began dapping his wounded face with the wet sleeve.
“May I ask what battles you two sailors have been involved in?” He said, continuing to sound like playful, fun Eddie and not like he was about to murder half the town (which, Gareth could tell by body language alone, is what Eddie actually felt like) “Did you happen to catch a glimpse of the villains who did this?"
“Robin melted into Steve, rubbing her face in his shoulder. “You wouldn’t believe us.”
Eddie smiled his most charming smile, a full blown rouge grin he played up as he continued to wipe and dab at Steve’s wounds. “You’d be surprised at what I believe in, my fair lady.”
Steve tried to talk, but ended up hissing as he ran into Eddie’s fingers.
“Russians.” He managed to get out, when Eddie quickly took the sleeve away so he could talk. “We got kidnapped by fucking Russians. Also we kinda saw some shit and they’re after us. Possibly you now if they saw you with us.”
There was the briefest of pause as Steve and Robin stared at Eddie, as Eddie stared back.
Then Steve and Robin as one started howling with laughter, so hard that Robin’s head ended up in Steve’s lap with Steve’s own head resting on hers.
Eddie turned to give Gareth a pinched look. “Russians.” He said, still calm despite it all. “Right.”
Which had to be the fucking drugs speaking.
Gareth just took a deep breath as Eddie managed to gently prod Steve back into putting his chin in his hand, shaking his head ever so slightly.
He didn’t know who he was going to actually have to murder, but at least Eddie looked to be on board with acting as his backup.

Steve couldn’t remember the last time he’d gotten a proper night’s rest. It had to have been before Vecna started haunting people’s dreams that made the entire Party afraid to close their eyes. Before Max fell into a painful coma and Eddie succumbed to bat bites in the Upside Down. Maybe prior to Spring Break completely, before the Russians under Starcourt and the demodogs and demogorgons. Maybe before his parents became too disappointed in him, before they started punctuating their disgust in him with well-aimed fists. Perhaps he’d never had a restful sleep at all, he couldn’t remember anymore.
But ever since his eyes had landed on the bloody form of his new friend surrounded by carcasses in the desolate trailer park, he couldn’t sleep a wink. Whenever he tried to rest, he imagined the pain Eddie must have gone through (he knew how those teeth felt as they gnawed through thick layers of flesh). He thought of how they had been forced to leave his body down there to rot, how alone Eddie must have been in his final moments. He could vividly picture Eddie’s last breath and gurgling pain every night in his nightmares. Steve would snap awake every night, gasping for air and jumping at shadows.
For weeks, he isolated himself. He only went to work and back and even that was taken away from him once he dozed off at the counter on one of his shifts with Keith. Without Robin there to gently wake him up and cover for him, he lost his job then and there. Without anything to drag him out of the house, he began spending every minute cowering from his own thoughts. He couldn’t sleep at night and he would hallucinate during the day. He’d see shadow figures in the corner of his eye, hear distorted screeches and screams of pain. On the bad days, he’d even hear Eddie’s voice amidst the chaos.
Steve thought he’d lost his mind.
After so many years of dealing with the impossible, the craziness had caught up with him and poisoned his mind. Or maybe Vecna had finally caught by up to him. Had he finally decided to stop targeting teens in high school to move onto more traumatized targets (i.e., Steve)? Unfortunately, he couldn’t find it in himself to care either way.
He never expected his new turned dead friend to shake his shoulder gently to wake him up from a nightmare. Steve jerked awake to find soft brown eyes staring at him in concern.
His reaction was completely valid. He screamed his head off.
Steve screamed and cried as the Hallucination Eddie’s eyes widened in fear before frantic shushing and spastic hand waving began.
“Shh! Harrington, Jesus H. Christ, calm down. Holy shit, I thought you’d be the calm one. Calm down, please god.”
When his throat finally lost its ability to scream, he took a good look at Eddie. His eyes were dull, shadows bruised his face, and his skin was far paler than Steve had ever seen. New scars marred his cheek and lower jaw right where the bats had gnawed.
Was… was he really here?
“Eddie?”
The man in question beamed in response, “I see we’re on a first name basis now, Stevie. If I knew this was all I had to do, I would’ve almost died a long time ago!”
Steve threw himself forward into Eddie’s arms and ignored both his own aches and pains and Eddie’s oomph of surprise.
“You’re not going to be here in the morning, are you?” Steve whispered into the crook of his neck.
Eddie’s shaky hand latched onto Steve’s shoulder to deepen the hug. “Hell Steve, I’ll never leave you again if you’ll have me.”
Steve fell asleep in Eddie’s arms and when he woke up, he was curled against the warmth of his chest with a cold towel on his forehead. It hadn’t been a dream after all. Eddie had saved himself and had come to Steve’s. From that day forward, Steve had Eddie. He made the days meaningful and the nights restful, just as they always should have been.

It’s a little after eleven when Eddie finally manages to get Tarja to bed. It’s hard for her without her plushie. And really, Eddie is very thankful having a hyper-fixation with her toy seems to be the only ‘consequence’ of having divorced parents Tarja seems to have right now. He always worries if having two homes and constantly moving between them is good for her or not. Especially with Tommy being Tarja’s other dad, but against all odds, he’s good to her. So their kid is doing just fine. She’s happy. And if she’s happy, Eddie is happy.
He’s getting ready to open a beer and relax when there’s a knock on the door. He smiles, assuming is Steve bringing Toothless over and almost knocks his beer to the floor when he opens the door.
Steve looks… well he looks amazing, dressed to the nines. Must’ve been date night. But his eyes are red and puffy, his face covered in dark blotches, and his lips are swollen like he’s been biting them too much.
He’s hugging Toothless to his chest and he smiles at Eddie when he sees him, but he looks so sad it breaks his heart.
Eddie throws the beer behind him, sure it will land on the couch and cradles Steve’s face between his hands, “What did that asshole do?
Steve leans into his touch and shuts his eyes for a moment before sighing and stepping away from him, walking inside and sitting on the couch still holding Toothless like a lifeline.
“Nothing, he was just-” Steve shakes his head and chuckles darkly, “He’s just so mean,”
Eddie drops to his knees in front of him and dips his head to look Steve in the eye just like he did that day in the park.
“Break up with him,” he says.
“I can’t.”
“Tommy doesn't deserve you, Steve. You are worth so much more than what that asshole makes you feel. You deserve better. More. Everything,” Eddie pleads, placing his hands on Steve’s knees and squeezing, “If it’s because of Tarja, we’ll figure something out, ok? Lots of people keep in contact with their parent’s significant other after they break up” He rushes, the speech he didn't have quite prepared last week coming out of him in a single breath, “We are friends, right? So you can still visit and see her. Visit me. You don’t have to stop being a part of our lives.”
Steve is staring at him right now like Eddie just gifted him the moon and he’s so beautiful it’s kind of hard for Eddie to keep eye contact, but he squeezes Steve’s knees again to ground himself and does. Steve needs to know he’s very serious about this. About him.
Eyes shining, Steve takes a deep breath and nods slowly, a tear falling down his cheek that Eddie follows with his eyes and watches until it hides under Steve’s v-neck shirt.
“Hey, even I didn’t put up with Tommy's shit for Tarja’s sake and I birthed her,” he jokes awkwardly, trying to make him laugh and feels like doing a little victory dance when Steve snorts cutely,
“Okay,” he hiccups.
“Yeah?” Eddie smiles back at him, relieved.
“Yeah,” Steve sighs, “Fuck Tommy.” And drops back on the couch, looking exhausted, “Can I stay here tonight?” he asks in a whisper, like he’s afraid Eddie will say no. As if.
“Yeah, of course,” Is what he answers, and has half a mind to invite him into his bed but knows it’s a terrible idea. So he lends Steve his favorite flannel pajamas and sets blankets and a pillow on the couch and they say their goodnights.
And if he does a little dance when he closes the door to his room, no one is there to see.
In the morning, Steve stays for breakfast. And attempts to kill Eddie by making his heart explode, cooking it himself from scratch with Tarja’s help, who is so happy she won’t stop running around the kitchen making Toothless fly and sing about ‘happy family breakfast time’.
It’s actually hard to tell if she’s happier to have her plushie back or that Steve is there. Eddie, on the other hand, knows exactly what he’s happiest about. Death by tenderness. Is that a thing? He amuses himself thinking about a couple csi’s with sunglasses saying it,
“He died because he witnessed something too cute,”
“Ah yes, death by fondness. I’ve seen it before.”
After, Eddie walks him to the door and Steve smiles sweetly at him, and holds his hand, squeezing it once before letting go, “Well, see you. I guess,” he says bashfully and there’s a moment there, a second where time stops and Eddie thinks he should kiss him. Wants to kiss him, needs to kiss him.
But he doesn’t. Because Steve is still dating Tommy, and just because he said he was going to break up with him doesn’t mean he wants to start something new with Eddie.
Eddie himself called him his friend for the first time last night for christ sake. ‘Fucking chill’ he thinks to himself.
🧸
And then a week goes by without hearing a word from Steve. But Eddie doesn't hold it against him.
At first, he figures he needs time to think but then he starts to wonder if he really is going to break up with Tommy. Four days in, he gets paranoid about it. Maybe Steve got brainwashed into thinking Eddie is bad for him. Maybe Tommy told him Eddie was putting ideas in his head, that he shouldn’t talk to him anymore… With him telling Steve to break up with his boyfriend and all...
He’s well aware of how manipulative Tommy can be and has seen the way he belittles Steve to keep him around, so he knows it’ll be hard for Steve to actually go through with it.
And he can’t exactly show up at Tommy’s and steal Steve away, no matter how appealing the idea might be. The only thing he can do is just think of Steve, wish him well, and send him strength to do what he needs to do. At the end of the day, it needs to be his decision. His choice.
As Tommy’s week with Tarja approaches he starts getting more and more anxious, wondering if it’ll be Steve or Tommy who picks her up.
When the day finally arrives, and the doorbell rings, Tarja runs to open the door and Eddie peeks his head through the hallway.
“Daddy!” Tarja screams.
“Hey, Tata! You ready?” Tommy says and Eddie steps into the hall to greet him too.
“Not yet!” Tarja chuckles and Tommy smiles at her,
“Okay, go get ready. I’ll wait here,”
Eddie walks to the door and leans on the doorframe, “Hey,”
“Hi. Long time no see,” Tommy says and then adds, “You look great,”
“You don’t,” Eddie answers, because it’s true. He looks like shit. Greasy hair, bags under his eyes, chapped lips, wrinkles on his clothes, “What happened?”
“Steve broke up with me.”
Eddie’s eyes go wide and he smiles, he doesn’t even try to hide it, “He did?”
“Don’t smile, fucker,” Tommy says but there’s no heat behind it. He knows he deserves it.
“Sorry,” Eddie says, not sorry at all.
“Stop,” Tommy whines because Eddie’s smile is actually getting bigger,
“Sorry,” he repeats and then clears his throat, “Did he tell you why?”
“Because I’m a horrible person,” Tommy groans.
“Hey, the first step is to ad-”
“To admit it, yeah, yeah. I know” Tommy interrupts him, groaning again.
Eddie sighs, and punches Tommy’s shoulder lightly, “Look, Tommy, I’m just going to say this because, well… you are pathetic. You need to do better.” And then he points to his back, to where Tarja’s disappeared to get her stuff, “She’s going to grow up and realize you are an awful person and she’s not going to want you in her life. And I’m not going to dissuade her from it, because I already don’t want you to be in mine, you know that, right?”
Tommy looks at him seriously and then nods once, fast and hard. Like he gets it. Like he agrees and is determined to change. And Eddie hopes for Tarja’s sake he is. But knows, deep in his heart, that either way, she’s going to be fine.
“Also, just a heads up. I’m in love with Steve and I’m going to ask him out,” he adds in a rush when he hears Tarja running up behind him.
“You are shitting me,” Tommy whispers, shocked and clenching his teeth.
Eddie laughs, “Nope,” he says, closing his lips loudly around the P.
“Eddie,” Tommy warns him like he’s waiting for Eddie to say he's joking.
“What? I hear he’s single,” Eddie smirks.
“You motherfuc- Hey Tata!” Gathering Tarja in his arms, Tommy drops the subject but he glares at Eddie as he kisses Tarja’s cheek goodbye and murmurs ‘unbelievable’ as he’s leaving. Eddie closes the door and starts laughing at the look on Tommy’s face.
He needs to call Steve.
He tries a couple of times but he doesn’t pick up and he starts worrying Steve might not actually want to talk to him, and then there’s a knock on the door but Eddie, too preoccupied with his anxiety, opens without looking, thinking Tarja forgot something.
When he doesn't hear her, Eddie looks up from his ‘ignored calls’ screen to see nonother than Steve standing there, looking nervous and like a fucking dream with a bouquet of flowers in his hands. A fucking bouquet of flowers. For him. For Eddie. All different shades of red, because he knows is his favorite color.
Eddie just blinks at him a couple of times and Steve flushes even more and drops the hand holding up the flowers, scratches the back of his neck nervously, “This was stupid, the flowers were fucking stupid. They are stupid. I’m stupid, right?”
A laugh bubbles out of Eddie and he grabs him by the scruff of his shirt and pulls him inside. He closes the door once they are both in and slams Steve against it, crushing their lips together. Steve circles his arms around Eddie and holds him close, instantly returning the kiss with fervor.
They kiss as if it were fate. They kiss until it's hard to breathe and Eddie pulls away only to kiss him again, and again, and again.
“Not stupid,” he murmurs between kisses and feels Steve’s smile against his lips.
Eventually, Eddie takes a step back and lets Steve into his home properly, “Hi,” he says cheesily.
“Hi,” Steve says back grinning, then he lifts up the bouquet again, which is now completely ruined by him still holding it strongly while they made out like crazy, and his smile drops,
“Shit,” he pouts cutely, god Eddie wants to eat him. He laughs and takes the flowers anyway, putting them in an empty glass bottle, because he doesn’t own a flower vase, because he’s a normal human being. ‘Who the fuck owns a flower vase?’
“Come here,” he says, holding out both hands for Steve to take and follow him.
Steve takes his hands but doesn't move, instead swings them from side to side, “Wait, let's talk,”
Fuck, yeah. They should. That’s a good idea. Fuck. Damn, Steven Whatever-The-Fuck-Is-His-Middle-Name Harrington and his sensible and very logical choice…
Eddie huffs exaggeratedly making Steve chuckle and redirects them to the couch, where they sit still holding hands, “Alas,” he says dramatically, “You are right, we should talk. I actually wanted to ask you out properly, not debauch you the second you walked through the door. Sorry about that” he lies, not sorry at all, again.
Steve blushes and smiles, drawing little circles with his thumbs on Eddie’s hands, “Yeah me too. I wanna do this right. Ask you out. Go on dates. I think we should take this slow,”
Eddie makes a face and groans at that. He doesn't want to take it slow. He wants Steve to move in right now or something. Steve rolls his eyes amused at his interruption and keeps going,
“I came here to ask you out the right way because I want you to know I’m committed. But we should think about how this will affect Tarja… and Tommy too. We should go out a few times, spend some time alone, and I want you to meet my friends and my parents and I want to meet your friends and your uncle too and just do this properly and-”
Eddie interrupts him with a kiss, he can’t take it anymore, he’s been dying to kiss Steve for months now and he’s so sweet and thoughtful it makes Eddie insane, makes him feel like he needs to ruin him, but in a nice way, like with devotion and love.
Steve lets go of his hands to wrap his arms around Eddie’s waist and hoists him until he’s straddling Steve. Eddie leans his elbows on Steve’s shoulders, and buries his hands in his hair, pulling and messing with it.
“Okay but have you considered having hard, hot, wet sex, and then maybe we do what you said?” He asks panting against Steve’s lips and actually feeling how that punches the air out of him.
He hugs Eddie closer to his chest and whines, “Yeah okay, we can do it your way,” and gets up, lifting Eddie with him as if he were weightless. Eddie squawks and laughs all the way to his room.
🧸
They spend the week together, talking, eating, drinking, laughing and fucking. Except it’s more than that because when Eddie is inside Steve, with his tongue, his fingers, or his strap, it feels like more. It feels like love. Like fate.
Steve, still determined to take things slow, doesn’t stay there all the time, going back to Robin’s where he moved back to after breaking up with Tommy. He actually brings her over one day and the three of them spend the afternoon together. Eddie decides they are going to be best friends immediately because Robin is hilarious and merciless. When Steve gets back the next day he kisses Eddie so good and hard his knees almost give out on him and tells him he has Robin’s seal of approval. Something he knows Tommy never got.
When the week passes Eddie says goodbye theatrically as if they were cross-star lovers in a bad soap opera and Steve chuckles and calls him ridiculous but kisses him so passionately that Eddie drags him right back inside and they say goodbye again a few hours later.
They had decided to wait until Eddie talked to Tarja about her feelings over Tommy’s and Steve’s breakup and whether she still wanted Steve around or not before having him over again.
But when Tarja gets back home she’s gloomy and silent. She hugs Eddie in greeting when she arrives and then spends the rest of the day lying face down on the floor and occasionally sighing loudly, obviously trying to make Eddie ask her what’s wrong.
And really, Eddie shouldn't find it as funny as he does, but he thinks about calling Wayne and telling him he gets it now when Wayne used to tell him he had too much personality.
Eventually, he lies on the floor next to her and asks. Tarja looks at him with big sad eyes and says, “I haven't seen Steve in a million years! And Daddy said he is not his boyfriend anymore! So I’ll never see him again and I miss him”
Eddie coos at her, “I’m sorry you miss him little dragon, but you can totally see him again! Would you like me to call him? Since he’s my friend too?” Already trying to strategize on how to tell her they are more than friends.
Tarja lights up and jumps off the floor and onto Eddie, punching the breath out of him, “Yes! Yes! Call Steve! Steve smiles more when he’s with you than he did with daddy anyway. Why don’t you boyfriend him instead?”
Well… that was easy.
He chuckles and shakes his head, “That’s a great idea sweety, go grab my phone,”
Tarja runs and grabs Eddie’s phone off the table and hands it to him, he doesn’t bother getting off the floor so she kneels beside him listening attentively as he dials Steve’s number.
“Hi, handsome, you talked with Tarja already?” Steve greets him after it rings twice.
“Yeah about that, turns out Tarja talked to me, actually,” he chuckles, “Hi, by the way”
“Hi,” Steve repeats lovingly and laughs, “What do you mean?”
“She had this awesome idea!” he says winking at her and she covers her mouth with her tiny hands to hide her giggles, “That, since you are not with Tommy anymore, you should be my boyfriend instead,” he continues, voice going soft and chuckles when he hears Steve's breathless ‘oh’ on the other side of the line, “Come over?”
“Of course, gimme an hour? I'm with a client” Steve hums and Eddie whispers he’ll give him anything he asks for and hangs up.
An hour later Tarja is still lying on the floor, only now it’s with papers and crayons spread all around her when the doorbell rings. She looks up at Eddie excitedly and he nods at her, “Go on then”
Tarja runs to the door and opens it wide to reveal Steve standing there as beautiful as ever, giving Eddie a deja vu of the first time he saw him.
“Papa Steve!” Tarja yells and jumps up to hug him.
Steve gasps and falls to his knees with her in his arms and looks up at Eddie with shocked wet eyes.
‘So much for taking it slow,’ Eddie thinks with a smirk.
Fin.

Hazel posts a tiktok that starts with her and Steve sitting together in front of the camera.
Hazel: Okay
Hazel: Dad’s away on a book tour and he doesn’t have TikTok so Pop and I are gonna share things we hope he doesn’t find out about when he gets back.
Hazel: I’ll go first.
Hazel: I hope he doesn’t find out I accidentally deleted our Minecraft world and then I had to figure out how to recover it.
Hazel: Also – I hope he doesn’t find out how much I played without him.
Steve: *snorts*
Steve: Uhh…I hope he doesn’t find out I never filled the bird feeders.
Hazel: Yeah, that’s no good.
Steve: We really should just call them squirrel feeders. The bird probably didn’t even notice.
Hazel: True.
Hazel: I hope Dad doesn’t find out about all the times I got Girl Scout cookies and didn’t share any with him.
Steve: I hope he doesn’t find out we met Robbie’s boyfriend two weeks ago.
Hazel: It’s fine. She already dumped him.
Steve: Yeah, but you know that he and Moe like to be all intimidating together.
Hazel: That’s true. Moe did a pretty good job on her own though.

hopper sees steve as a surrogate son. really, he shouldn't make such a habit of picking up stray children, but he looked at harrington and saw a kid who just... needed someone. saw the vacancy in his eyes when he thought no one was looking. saw the police file, the noise complaints and the few reports from hawkins middle school about suspicious bruises that had been swept away. saw a boy who'd seen too much. who just needed someone to lean on.
so he tries to be that. offers the kid a hand every now and then. keeps an eye on him, all alone in that big house, after everything. after '83 and then '84 and then summer of '85, when he'd signed his medical papers because there was no other adult for him around. it always left him a bit hollow, but he told himself that it was okay as long as he was around. as long as steve knew, deep down, that he could come to hopper for help, even if he'd wait until he was on the brink of overload before doing so.
it's all this that makes the sight of steve's car, that brown beemer that had dropped his daughter back home so many times, pulled into a ditch with the lights off cause his stomach to sink. a million awful things come to mind as he pulls in behind it and quickly hops out of his cruiser.
had he seen something and spiralled into a panic? had he gotten a bad migraine? had he run off into the woods alone?
thankfully, he finds the best case scenario: a slightly flushed and dishevelled steve rolling down a foggy window. grinning like he'd been caught with his hand in the cookie jar when he realises it's just hopper. he's fine, he's in one piece.
what's not fine, however, is the person with him in the backseat. eddie fucking munson, a kid hopper's put in handcuffs more than once. not because he's another boy, who gives a shit about that, but because it's eddie munson. drug dealer, general troublemaker, and definitely a bad influence on his boy.
he does his best to save the judgement this time, sensing the fear emanating off the couple. tells them to be more careful, to go home and kiss or do whatever there instead in case anyone else drives by tonight. munson looks at him like he's grown a second head, (which, fair. usually their interactions go a lot less amicably than this) and steve just tears up and nods. he reaches in to ruffle the boy's hair, ignoring the protests, before reluctantly trudging back to his car and driving away.
he calls steve the next afternoon and gets him to confess that, yes, he is dating edward 'eddie' munson. no, it's not a fling. yes, they're boyfriends, god help him. he gripes about it a decent amount, because really, steve? that one? you picked that one? but he keeps the tone light enough that steve feels comfortable enough to defend eddie's honour amidst laughter. within a week he's got steve sat across from him, eddie by his side looking two seconds away from shitting himself.
"well, boys." he grins, cracking his knuckles. eddie watches. gulps. "let's have a little chat, shall we?"

“You sure your daddy allowed you to get this?”
Tumblr media
🪡🖤
Let’s just say Steve goes to the local sleazy drug dealer because he’s also the only “piercer” in town. (Not really licensed but you know) Steve really wants to get a nipple piercing because he heard from his friends that girls dig it and it looks sexy. He’s nervous but something about Eddie lures him in.

3rd person pov
“It’s just a fantasy hookup. It’s like Tinder, but it’s not. It’s better if we’re being honest,” y/n tried explaining the app to her older colleagues. “Isn’t that dangerous? Like what if that person you’re meeting with is a serial killer?” Steve asked, very concerned about this new app that came out.
“Yeah, but that’s the fun of it,” Y/n said with an awkward laugh. “Hmm,” Eddie took a look at Steve before looking back at y/n. Eddie knows how y/n is. She felt comfortable talking to him about her more personal life, so he knew this was going to come up sooner or later.
“I heard about the app a few weeks ago. Didn’t think it was real, but here I am, bleeding my ears out,” Eddie rolled his chair away from the conversation and back to his tattoo station as Steve went on his phone to look this hookup app up.
The glasses on the lower bridge of his nose show y/n how concerned he is. When he brings his glasses out, that’s when you know he really cares about a situation.
“There’s no way this shit is real. Eds, look at this,” Steve turned his phone towards Eddie. The older man sighed loudly as he lazily rolled back over to y/n and Steve. His mood is already ruined.
“What do you even do? Oh, mister stranger sir, please fuck me behind a bar,” Eddie mocked before scoffing and rolling back to his desk. “So fuckin’ dumb,” Eddie said, only hating on the app because y/n has taken a liking to the idea.
“It’s kind of cool. C’mon, guys! What if there was a pretty lady on the app who would happily meet you two?” Y/n genuinely asked, knowing Eddie would take it, but Steve, he’s different.
Eddie has spoken to her about Steve’s past, and that he’s done with whatever hoe-phase he went through. He’s just a happy businessman, waiting to meet the perfect woman.
One thing Eddie hasn’t told y/n is that Steve has already met his perfect woman, but she’s not woman enough for him, but he’s willing to wait it out. This conversation isn’t helping him wait.
“Stevie here ain’t fallin’ for it, sweetheart, so stop askin',” Eddie said, trying to concentrate on his emails about appointments, but y/n keeps talking about this app. She was hoping they’d have a different reaction because now, they definitely won’t have a good reaction once she brings out the news.
“I signed up,” y/n said under her breath, but they heard her loud and clear. “What!?” The older men shouted, making her jump. “What the hell are you thinking, y/n!?” Steve asked as his fists tightened. She can’t go out there.
“Look, I’ll try it out one time, and if I don’t like it, I won’t do it again,” Y/n said, trying to convince them. “One time can get you killed. This is too dangerous. I forbid!” Eddie said in a serious tone.
“What!? No, you can’t forbid anything from me. You’re not my dad,” y/n laughed at the older man. “Yeah, well I’m your boss, and if you participate in this, you’re fired. There,” Eddie said with no care.
“What!? Eddie, you can’t do that!” Y/n said as Steve laughed. “This isn’t funny,” Y/n said, making them both laugh together. “Whatever, I’m going on break,” y/n walked out of the building, angry at the threat Eddie just gave her.
To give y/n a break from Eddie and Steve, she drove to the mall to eat at the food court and get some college work done in the seating area.
She knew the two wouldn’t 100% agree with what she wanted to do, but she didn’t think they’d take it that far. It’s not a secret that the women workers do their own thing on the side, but when y/n wants to be on a hookup app, it’s a problem? She can’t believe them.
“Haven’t seen you in a while,” a familiar voice said out of nowhere. Y/n took her AirPods out and looked up at the figure. Billy Hargrove. “Billy,” y/n greeted, not smiling at him at all.
“See you still have that attitude,” Billy smirked as he tilted his head to check her out. He’s always been interested in her, but Steve and Eddie forbid she talk to him. Now that she thinks about it, they forbid a lot of things.
“You know you’re a big girl, right? Eddie and Steve can’t tell you who you can and can’t talk to,” Billy said, knowing the two older men want a fine young woman like y/n all to themselves.
“I choose not to talk to you, Mr, Hargrove,” y/n said, making Billy chuckle as he placed his hands over his heart. “Now that one hurt. What makes you call me by my last name? You know, I’m not too old,” Billy said, not letting y/n go.
“You’re like 40. Fuck off,” y/n said as she placed her AirPods back into her ear. As y/n went to play one of her college videos, her phone notification went off. She paid no mind to it until she realized that the notification came from.
At first, she stayed silent, hoping Billy would leave because he wouldn’t know what the app was, right?
“Interesting,” Billy said with a look before he walked off. Y/n rolled her eyes and then went back to her work. If he knew the app, it’s whatever, right?
The whole day, y/n shoooed then went home. She didn’t even bother to go back to work. Steve and Eddie had pissed her off.
As soon as y/n came home, she emailed the two, saying she’d not be attending work for a few weeks. She’s taking all of her leave. Let’s see how they like that.
As soon as the two men got the email, they flipped. They tried calling her and messaging her, but she wouldn’t answer. They even left voice messages, and yes, she listened to them, but never called back. It’s not like they can take her leave away.
For the next few weeks, y/n has been out and doing normal college work. This free time gave her a lot of time to be on the hookup app.
She hasn’t met anyone, but she’s been sexting a lot of people and getting free money just for her body looks. She’s never shown her face until it came down to one dude.
@HotNStuff is a stranger y/n has been sexting every day. He gives good money, but even without the money, he’s amazing. His reply time, his texting, his calls, his voice, his cock… Everything is perfect for y/n.
“Why don’t we meet? Any way you want princess,” the stranger said through text, making y/n’s cunt throb, but she can’t. Eddie forbids it, and if she goes, she could get fired, and she can’t have that. She needs the money.
As y/n went to reply, a photo popped up on her phone. The stranger had sent a picture of sex toys all spread out in his bed. “If you say, yes, I promise you, I’ll give you the best fantasy fuck of your life,” the stranger typed right under the photo.
“Fuck,” y/n whined under her breath. She’s definitely wet by now. She hesitated, but eventually messaged him back. “Lovers Rock at 6pm tomorrow,” y/n replied before tossing her phone and screaming to herself.
There’s no way Steve and Eddie would know, anyway. They’re too busy always working and when not working, they’re at the bar, downing beers.
Y/n picked her phone back up after a few notifications went off. “I swear to god, I’m gonna fuck you good. Been thinkin’ about this for a long long time,” the stranger said. Y/n loves how addicted she makes these men feel on this app.
“You’ve told me all your kinks, so I know what to do and not to do. But I will warn you, I don’t hold back. I like it rough,” he sent.
“Let our safe word be red. Pretty basic but easy to remember because trust me, princess, you’re gonna fuckin’ forget anything else,” the man kept turning y/n on more and more.
“That’s fine with me,” Y/n replied, trying not to sound too excited. “How do we start?” She asked. “As soon as I see you, the movie starts. One thing you have to do for me is wear your prettiest skirt with the smallest panties. Wear a tight shirt and long socks. I know you have them, baby,” he replied. He’s basically seen y/n’s whole sexual wardrobe.
After a little more of texting the stranger, y/n got herself in the shower. She’ll shave tonight and shower again tomorrow to be extra smooth and clean.
She’s excited but also scared. What if Eddie was right? What if these are serial killers? Y/n was stressed for a little but kit too long to have her change her mind. She’s going to go rather he and Steve like it or not.
It’s now the next day and 5pm. She has an hour to get to Lovers Rock and she’s so ready to meet this man. He looks close to her age. No, she hasn’t seen his face, but his body says enough. He’s fit and his cock is just way too nice.
Y/n had already taken a nice shower and now she smells like flowers and fruits. She’s never been this ready for sex in her life. The excited girl is now getting dressed in her tightest panties and well-fitted lingerie bra.
Before y/n could put her clothes on, she got a FaceTime call from Eddie. Her boss is how she addresses him now. Y/n sighed before she answered, only showing her face.
“Hello?” Y/n asked, trying to sound professional and not angry. “Hey, sweetheart. Was just wondering when you were coming back,” Eddie asked, knowing he knew. “In the email I sent, I said I was going to be back this Monday. That’s in two days.” Y/n said.
“Ah, okay,” Eddie said as you/n tried her best to not roll her eyes. “So, what are you doing tonight? Wanna eat out for dinner? Steve can’t come because he has work to do,” Eddie hoped y/n would take it.
“No, I’m sorry sir. I already made some plans,” y/n spoke, shocking Eddie a little. Sir? “Oh, uh, are you good? You kinda never call me sir,” Eddie awkwardly laughed. “Yeah, I’m good. Look I have to go so, see you Monday,” y/n fake smiled at the screen before hanging up.
Y/n placed her phone down and took a deep breath. They haven’t spoken since the day she left work, and all of a sudden, he calls now? An hour before she leaves to do what he forbids?
Y/n overthought a bit before her al went off, telling her that she was cutting it a bit close, so she grabbed her things and headed out of her door.
On the way there, y/n played some music to calm her down. It’s still light outside, so it’s not like this situation is totally bad.
Y/n drove for a good half an hour before she parked near Lovers Rock. People don’t come here anymore, so she thinks this place would be good for her sex fantasy.
The pretty girl walked her way up to the location and sat on a nearby bench, awaiting the stranger. She can already feel herself grow wet at the situation she’s in, and she loves it.
As soon as the clock hit 6pm, a car drove up the hill, heading her way. This must be him. Y/n stayed seated on the bench table as she kicked her legs back and forth, a little nervous.
The man in the car instantly grew hard at the sight of her. He’s been waiting a little too long to just not get what he wants tonight. This will be a fun night.
The man parked his car before leaving in his back seat to grab his duffle bag. Y/n waited until he slowly got out of his car. That’s when her face dropped. This can’t be.
“Hey, princess,” Billy spoke as he dropped the duffle bag and lit a cigarette. “HotNStuff?” Y/n asked his user name as he nodded. “If you want confirmation, you’ll find out soon,” Billy said as he took his jacket off and threw it through his window that was rolled down.
“There’s no way,” y/n pushed herself off of the bench, now standing and thinking to herself. It makes sense. She’s never seen his face. The way he texted her seemed like he already knew her as well. Now she’s kind of regretting putting her actual name as her user.
“You’re so easy to find and even more easy to impress,” Billy began walking towards the girl, taking a few hits of his strong-smelling cig. “Wait, no, this is a misunderstanding,” y/n said as she backed up just one step before she hit the bench.
“No, I don’t think it is,” Billy smirked as he scanned her body and blew out smoke. Fuck. “Wore what I told you to? Good girl,” he licked his lips now in front of her. “I-I thought you were someone else,” y/n said, trying to lean back, but she could only go so far.
“And that was who? Some stranger? God, you really are a whore,” Billy laughed to himself. They told the truth, and now he’s here to teach her a lesson. “I’m going to give you two chances,” Billy said, taking a step back.
“Safeword,” Billy spoke. “What?” Y/n asked, confused. “Say the safe word and we can leave this behind,” Billy said, giving her a chance. As y/n went to open her mouth, she stopped and thought to herself.
“If you leave, you don’t get what you want. You don’t get that special fantasy fuck you’ve been begging for,” Billy said, not making this choice better for her. “5 seconds,” he spoke, so he could start this movie he’s been waiting for.
“So now that you took your sweet ole time, I’ll give you a chance to run. If I can’t find you, you get to go him safe and sound, but once I catch that fine ass of yours, you’re in for a long night. Trust me,” Billy said, knowing he had much more planned for her that she didn’t know about.
Y/n’s mind got foggy but she ran. Why did she run? She doesn’t know, but she did. He told her to right? She can get out of this right? This was the only way, other than just saying the safe word… Why didn’t she just say the stupid fucking safe word?
“Oh, this is gonna be so much fun!” Billy shouted as he took his belt off and threw it near his duffle bag. “You don’t understand how hard I am right now, baby. I’m so fuckin’ hard,” Billy could barely keep himself together as his cock began to hurt.
“Billy, I-I made a mistake, okay? Just let me go and I swear this will be the last you hear from me,” y/n begged. “Now why would I want that, baby? I’ve wanted to fuck you for so many years, and now that I finally got you, you think ima let you go!? Fuck no,” Billy said now picking up his speed.
Y/n hid at Lovers Rock, hoping Billy would get tried as he walked up the slight hill, but she then remembered how fit he was. She’s definitely not getting away. She hasn’t run in years.
“You suck at this game, baby. Or maybe, you wanna be fucked. What am I kidding. You do,” Billy walked up the hill, so close to y/n, she could barely breathe. “You’ve never looked pretty. All scared and helpless. God, I’m gonna have the best night,” Billy spoke, getting closer to y/n.
For some reason, y/n decided to turn and try to run again, but it was too late. Billy had already gotten to her, grabbing her hair and pushing her right to her feet.
“Don’t worry, baby. Let’s get through this part so your pretty knees won’t bruise,” Billy said as he reached into his jeans and pulled his cock out. Y/n’s eyes widened at how much bigger he looked in person.
“I-I can’t do it. I actually can’t,” y/n tried sounding serious, but Billy ignored her. The man sighed as he forced his cock between y/n’s lips, making her take him whole. She instantly began gaging at the length he was.
“Fuck, y/n,” Billy chuckled as he rubbed his face with his free hand. He couldn’t believe his own eyes. She’s finally on his cock. “So fuckin’ good, fuck,” Billy cussed a storm full as he grabbed y/n’s face and began fucking into her mouth.
The young girl gagged harder as spit drooled down her chin. “You don’t understand this feeling, princess. I even took a few pills to last in you, baby, but they’re not help,” Billy admitted. “Fuck, I should have taken more,” Billy felt his knees buck. He wasn’t ready to cum, but her mouth feels too good.
“P-Please,” y/n’s words were muffled. She had no idea why she started begging now, but after she came to her senses that Billy was going to fill her mouth, she had to say something.
“Look at me,” Billy said, so close to the edge. Y/n closed her eyes, trying not to enjoy this, but it was hard. This is exactly what she’s wanted. “Look!” Billy slapped y/n’s cheek hard but soft enough so his cock wouldn’t slip out of her mouth.
“Disobey me again, and I’ll hurt you,” Billy threatened as she looked up at him with glossy eyes. Every vein rubbed against her throat as his thrusts got a bit sloppy until he finally pushed all the way down her throat.
He watched as she cried in his cock. She couldn’t take it, but he knew she liked it just like that. As Billy pulled out, a few strains of cum shot into her face and chest. “So pretty,” Billy admired her.
“My keys are in the car. If you can get to it, and drive to your car that I watched you park down the hill, I’ll let you go,” Billy said. “Hurry hurry,” Billy evilly smirked at her.
She knew this had to be some trick, but she did as told and ran as fast as she could back to his car. “Fuck, fuck, fuck,” y/n stressed as she opened his car door and tried looking everywhere before he comes.
“Oh my god! Fuck!” Y/n grew angry. There’s no way he hid it. He got out of the car too fast to hide the keys. Y/n looked up and towards the way she ran from to see if Billy was coming, and he in fact was with a smirk as always. Always that fucking smirk.
“Times up, baby,” Billy said, but y/n continued looking. “Don’t cheat now. I said-“ Billy stopped for a second before he grabbed her ankles and pulled her out of his car as he said, “Time is up!”.
“Always knew you were hard-headed. God, aren’t you like in your mid-20s? And you still don’t fucking listen?” Billy pulled y/n to her feet before pushing her down onto the front of his car.
“Stay,” he demanded as her cheek grew cold on his metal front. Billy stepped back and then stepped to the side to look around in his duffle bag that he had ready and prepared for her.
“You’re in for a crazy night, baby,” Billy laughed to himself as he grabbed some things out to lock her up. “W-What will you do to me?” She asked, a bit scared but that’s what turns her on.
“Once I put this one, everything goes on for tonight, okay?” Billy tried getting her to speak and agree to this, but she kept her mouth shut. “You’ll regret that,” Billy gripped y/n’s ankles hard, causing her to whine out loud.
“Shut the fuck up,” Billy got into character, as he’s been waiting for this all day. Billy began locking y/n’s ankles up that had a bad in between the cuffs, forcing her to keep her feet apart.
“What the- Wait, Billy. Billy!” Y/n began freaking out. “Oh, now I’m Billy?” He laughed to himself as he continued with the set. The next two sets had straps so he could strap them around her knees and the other around her thighs.
“Billy, y-you can’t do this! I-I can’t even get free!” Y/n said, but the last time he checked, she was into any and everything. Billy stayed silent as he grabbed the handcuffs.
Without speaking, he grabbed her wrists and cuffed them behind her back as she tried wiggling to prevent him from getting what he wanted, but deep down, she was going easy.
The older man couldn’t stop laughing at the weaker woman, knowing she was faking this until she made it. That’s what he likes.
“Once I stretch this cunt out, you’re gonna want more,” Billy had leaned over y/n’a hear and whispered. “As if,” y/n said and seconds later, earned a smack on her ass.
“Let’s see what this ass looks like,” Billy lifted the pinned girl's skirt up, instantly letting out a rough groan in his throat. “There’s no way you’re not taken. Are you sure you’re not married and skipping around Hawkins acting single? I wouldn’t put it past you with your slutty kinks,” Billy grabbed y/n’s hair and pulled her back.
“I-I’m not married,” y/n whined as her hair ached. “I didn’t care anyways,” Billy stayed truthful as he grind his hips huh against her ass. He’s still hard, but he probably won’t be able to cum again. She’ll get cum either way tonight…
“You still okay with this baby?” Billy asked but quickly spoke again. “You’re not gonna answer anyways, since you’re a little bratty bitch,” Billy pushed y/n’s upper body down hard before pulling his jeans down this time.
“You’re gonna end up telling me how much you wanna sink on my cock, rather it’s sooner or later,” Billy said as he pulled y/n’s tight panties to the side before pushing at her soaked entrance without warning.
The two maimed at the feeling of pleasure. “God,” y/n moaned as a tear ran down her cheek. “Yeah, tell me about it,” Billy pushed further into her until she was too full of cock.
“Ssh, baby. Don’t want strangers hearing you being slut out in the middle of the woods,” Billy said, knowing she wouldn’t do anything to stop him if anyone came around the corner.
“O-Oh god,” y/n cried in pleasure as her cunt gripped Billy’s cock. “Fuck, don’t do that. I’m too old for those,” Billy said, but y/n couldn’t help herself. His cock feels too good.
“So inconsiderate,” Billy slapped at y/n’s ass once again before grabbing her waist to push her down in his car and fuck her into it. “Oh, you gonna cum? Gonna fuckin’ cum in my car like a desperate little bitch, hmm? Do it. I fuckin’ dare you to,” Billy snapped his hips harder into her.
“S-Shit!” Y/n shook as she came all over his lower body and car. “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!” Y/n’s vision became blurry for a good while before she came back to her normal eyesight.
At first, she had thought ahead was a dream as she saw her boss leaning up against a tree. She went to ignore it and lay her head back down on Billy’s car until she realized he was actually there.
“Took you long enough,” Billy had slowed his thrust down as he leaned over and whispered in her ear. “E-Eddie?” Y/n asked, terrified before he pushed himself off of the tree and slowly made his way over to the two.
“You’re fired,” Eddie said, making y/n’s heart drop. How could he still fire her as Billy’s taking her from the back right in front of his face?
“Wait, Eddie, I can explain,” y/n said, but she had nothing to say to save herself. “I said what I said,” Eddie said now on the opposite side of Billy’s car, watching every second of y/n’s body jolting against his car.
“I’m sorry,” Y/n’s eyes began to water at the disappointment. Eddie just fired her yet she can’t stop clinching around Billy. Billy even chuckled as she clenched around him. “Still a slut. Even unemployed,” Billy picked his paste-up once again.
“P-Please, Billy, stop it,” y/n tried demanding as her voice cracked, but he ignored her, and he’ll continue to until she says the safe word she’s been refusing to say.
“Billy, please stop! I-I can’t do this anymore,” y/n tried speaking up for herself and seemed strong, but she was not. Her body was so weak against his. She probably couldn’t even walk back to her car after the fuck Billy was giving her.
“Alright, that’s enough,” Eddie said as he walked around the car. Y/n felt Billy pull out of him and step back. Eddie smirked at the locks on her, knowing she was not getting out of this.
“I’m so sorry, Eddie,” y/n kept tearing up. The poor girl was crying so much that she didn’t notice someone right behind her ass until the person pushed fully into her.
Y/n tried lifting her body up, but a hand instantly gripped the back of her neck and slammed her down in the car as the other dug into her waist. It’s Eddie. His rings are giving it away.
“Now that you’re not associated with my job anymore, you’re open to fuck,” Eddie spat before snapping his hips against her ass. How does he start off this fast, she doesn’t know, but she couldn’t stop moaning.
“E-E-Eddie!” Y/n basically screamed as his grip tightened on her skin. “Yeah? Like this? Like being a free-use bitch, waiting to be found and fucked. Wanna be filled by strangers, hmm? Huh!?” Eddie grew aggressive.
The older man let y/n’s neck go then reconnected it in her hair. “Look at this shit,” Eddie pulled y/n’s head back, causing her back to arch the furthest she’s done. “Do you not see yourself slitting yourself out? This belongs to me and whoever I allow to fuck it,” Eddie growled in her ear.
“Yeah, keep moaning. Keep fucking crying for my cock, and I swear to god I’ll give you a baby. Maybe then you’ll settle down,” Eddie kept saying mean things to her to get in her head, but she liked it. She likes it so fucking much.
“When we’re done here, we’re gonna head to Stevie’s house. See what he has to say about this slutty situation. Maybe you’ll listen to him,” Eddie pushed y/n’s upper body away from him before connecting his now free hand on the opposite side of the hand gripping her waist and leaving bruises.
“You’re so fucked, y/n, you have no fuckin’ idea. Steve tried giving you a long leash, but after he find out you disobeyed my orders, he’s gonna ruin you, and you won’t be able to handle it. Trust me,” Eddie threatened y/n once again.
“We used to call him King Steve for a reason,” Billy spoke up. There’s no reason he’s bigger than these two. Eddie’s right, she won’t be able to take it, but right now, she has no choice.
Eddie’s fucking her like a monster from hell as Billy, the supposed man he hates, watches him. They’re both getting off of this view and in y/n’s head that she will not admit to, she loves it. This is what she wanted.

cw: implied domestic abuse (zero detail is given)
Eddie was late for school at least once a week. It wasn’t a problem of getting up and getting ready on time, his mom made sure he was moving.
He could hear the way the new neighbors fought sometimes, saw the way the older boy would rush into his vehicle and practically fly out of the park. He’d watch as the younger girl, Red, would follow soon after, backpack slung over her shoulder and feet kicking rocks as she walked to the main road to catch the bus.
He didn’t stop her the first time it happened. To be honest, she looked furious and he didn’t exactly want to be torn to pieces by a girl at least 5 years younger than him.
But the second time, he swore he saw a few tears on her face and he couldn’t not at least try.
When she didn’t immediately murder him, he decided it was probably safe to offer a ride to school. Surprisingly, she agreed.
And this continued for months.
Annie Munson would get a call from the school every couple of times and try to explain, but any Munson excuse was not an excuse they cared to hear.
She didn’t say anything to Eddie about it; didn’t want him to feel like he was doing anything wrong by being kind to someone who needed all the kindness they could get. She saw the way Mrs. Mayfield seemed to stay curled into herself even when he wasn’t around. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what was going on.
But eventually, the school threatened to call child protective services, and Annie couldn’t let Eddie deal with that. He’d already had enough of that before they moved in with Wayne.
So she pulled him aside the night of that call and hugged him hard, told him she loved him for his big heart, his caring soul, but he had to figure out how to not be late to school.
He could read between the lines easily enough.
Max started showing up at their door 15 minutes earlier every morning, not quite smiling, but not looking quite as angry. Annie welcomed her in as she finished packing her lunch for work, didn’t really try to talk to her much. She left that to Eddie, who always came down the short hallway with a beaming smile and a “Hey Red! Long time no see!” or a “You’re looking slightly less murderous this morning, did you already sacrifice something to Satan? Without me?”
Max always tried to hide a smile, but Annie caught it.
Eddie had that energy that made everyone feel just a hint of sun on a cloudy day.
It continued well into Max’s freshman year. Especially after her step brother died in a tragic mall fire and her step dad booked it out of town, she needed someone.
At school, they pretended not to know each other. Eddie explained it was easier on Max that way, and she had other friends, or so she said. He never really saw her hanging out with them, but he just assumed they had different schedules.
Annie saw through it. She was pretty sure Eddie saw through it. Neither of them risked her running for the hills, though.
- - - -
After the earthquake, Annie spent as much time with Eddie and Max as she could. Max’s mom seemed distant, like she couldn’t process any of what happened. Max deserved better than that, so Annie did her best.
It was easy to forget how young she was when she spoke. The boy who sat by her side nearly 24/7, Lucas, explained that she had to fend for herself since she was pretty young, as if she still wasn’t pretty young.
As soon as Eddie was able to leave his bed, he asked to be wheeled over to Max’s room.
“Gotta make sure she didn’t perform any satanic rituals without me,” he joked, though it fell flat when it hit him that most people still thought he actually performed satanic rituals.
Annie had to get home and make dinner for her and Wayne, so the Harrington boy volunteered to take him.
Annie was perceptive enough to see why the Harrington boy, Steve, was around nearly every day. She was also perceptive enough to see the way Eddie blushed when Steve wrapped his arm around his waist to help him into the wheelchair. She’d ask him about it later.
She did at least walk with them to the elevator, listened to their quiet conversation about Max being half blind and her arms being in casts.
The next day, she visited Eddie as usual before work, brought him a hot coffee. He was still asleep, his hand stretched out towards a sleeping Steve. Steve’s fingers were just barely touching Eddie’s, like they’d maybe been holding hands at some point until someone shifted in their sleep.
She set the coffee down on the table by his bed and scratched a note on the pad he’d been using for campaign notes.
Maybe they could bring Steve a cot if he’s gonna be a permanent fixture in your room. Love, mama
She folded it in half and set the coffee cup on top of it so hopefully only Eddie would see.
But if Steve saw it, maybe that would be okay.
- - - -
When Max got out of the hospital, Eddie was waiting for her in his van, only just released from police custody a few days before.
She shook her head.
“I may actually have to do a satanic ritual to get into that thing. I thought Steve was getting me in his car?”
The nurses scoffed at her words, but Eddie ignored her.
“Steve had to take Robin to the school for volunteering. And I brought Lucas to help,” he gestured behind him to where Lucas was hesitantly standing by the passenger door. “Between the two of us, we can get you in and out. No satanic ritual required. This time.”
He winked at the nurse, just to be a shit.
“Annie said she’d bring me cake when I got home,” Max said as they maneuvered her into the passenger seat and waved the nurse away.
“She’s at home baking it as we speak, Red.”
“Oh.” She said it like she actually didn’t believe it would happen. Maybe she didn’t. “Cool. I guess.”
Eddie smirked. “When my mama says she’ll do something, she does it. And if she can’t, she’ll do the next best thing. Never doubt her.”
“Yeah, but I’m not her kid.”
“Neither is Lucas, but she packed him lunches everyday for the last two weeks when she realized he wasn’t leaving your room to get something. Neither is Steve, but she makes his favorite for dinner once a week. Neither is Dustin, but she held him until his mom could get to the hospital when they were trying to set his ankle. If she cares about you, she does it.”
Max nodded. “I guess that’s a nice thing to have.”
“Yeah. And you have it now. So don’t push her away. Or any of us. Got it?”
Max snorted. “I haven’t had a moment alone in over a month. It’s not like I can get rid of any of you.”
“Exactly. Glad we’re on the same page!”
She turned to Lucas the best she could and glared. “You’re taking me to the movies as soon as these casts are off.”
“Yeah! Okay, yep!” He agreed quickly.
Eddie snorted. “Jesus Christ. You two are ridiculous.”
“Whatever,” they said in unison.
- - - -
When everyone was able to go back to school, Eddie drove them all.
He had a diploma, so he didn’t have to worry about being late, but he still woke up early enough to pick them all up and drop them off.
Max was always the last one out of the van.
“No satanic rituals without me,” Eddie would tell her.
“Not until Saturday!” Max would answer him.

Gladys hadn’t been sure what to make of her new neighbors at first.
She didn’t like the idea of them, to be certain: two young men living in the apartment across the way, who would probably come and go at all hours, noisy and inconsiderate as anything – especially the long-haired one she’d spotted carrying a guitar case.
A month in, however, her initial assessment doesn’t seem to have proven true; she does see them come and go at all hours, but they aren’t noisy about it, and she hasn’t heard any kind of raucous guitar playing. They seem to keep to themselves, and that suits Gladys just fine.
And then grocery day comes, and Gladys is trying to jog from the front door to the elevator before it closes, both arms loaded with bags. She spots her long-haired neighbor already in the elevator, and he spots her, and he holds the door for her before she can even call and ask him to.
He then offers to help with the bags, and Gladys unloads both of the heavy paper sacks on him with a relieved sigh; she tries to keep in shape, but she doesn’t have the strength she did when she was younger, and her joints sometimes ache like mad.
“I’m Eddie, by the way,” the man says into the silence of the elevator as they ride up to the fourth floor. “I don’t think we really introduced ourselves when we moved in, but I live across the hall from you.”
“I recognize you,” Gladys says. Then adds, “Gladys Gaines.”
“Well, it’s nice to meet you officially, Miss Gladys,” Eddie says with a grin. “I’d offer to shake, but my hands are otherwise occupied.”
He shifts the grocery bags demonstratively, pretends for a moment that they’re weighing him down, though he’d been having no trouble with them until then, and Gladys finds herself smiling. “Never mind that,” she says. “And it’s nice to meet you, too.”
Eddie helps her put the groceries away, and she finds him to be charming, in an animated sort of way, bursting with energy and humor.
The sink gives him pause, though, after he ducks beneath it to put away a bottle of dish detergent as directed. He watches it drip for several consecutive seconds before asking, “Is the faucet giving you trouble?”
“It’s been driving me up the wall for weeks,” Gladys huffs as she stashes a loaf of bread in the breadbox. “But of course maintenance is taking their sweet time to get to it.”
“Huh. Y’know, Steve—my, uh, roommate—he’s pretty good at home repair stuff like this. I could get him to come take a look at it, if you want,” Eddie offers.
“If he can get that awful drip to stop, I’ll be in your debt,” Gladys says.
Eddie wiggles his eyebrows at her. “Madam, that’s a dangerous thing to declare.”
“Oh, hush.” Gladys slaps at him with a dish towel, and the boy pretends to be mortally wounded.
Laughing, Gladys finds that she quite likes Eddie.
She likes Steve, too, when he shows up at her door the next afternoon with a bag of tools and a little wave ‘hello.’
“Eddie said your faucet was leaking?” he offers. “Oh– I’m Steve. From across the way.”
“I recognize you,” Gladys says, and she shows him to the kitchen.
Steve is a solid, steady presence that Gladys can imagine compliments Eddie’s high energy well; he’s boyish and sweet, but there’s something sharper underneath that reminds Gladys of her own Avery’s cutting wit.
Gladys finds out from Steve that he and Eddie are from a tiny, rural town; they’re new to city life, but they’re enjoying it even in their adjustment period. Eddie works full time while Steve works part-time and attends classes – he’s hoping to become a guidance counselor.
“That’s an unusual arrangement for roommates,” Gladys comments. “Eddie doesn’t mind taking on most of the bills?”
It’s a bit of a prying question—rude, some might say, but Gladys doesn’t see the point in getting old if you’re not allowed to be blunt—but Steve only ducks his head and smiles.
“No, Eddie’s– he’s a great guy. Helping me out like this,” he says before turning back to the sink. “Here, try it now.”
Gladys turns the faucet on, then turns it back off, watching as the flow of water comes to a complete stop, not a drip to be seen.
“Dear, you’re a miracle worker,” Gladys declares.
“It was nothing,” Steve says.
He turns away to pack up his tools, but not quite quickly enough to hide the smile on his face – pleased but a little bashful, like he isn’t used to being complimented like this. It’s a nice smile, Gladys thinks, and both Steve and Eddie are nice boys. She decides that yes, she really does like them.
Offering to pay Steve for his services seems a little tawdry, so Gladys invites the boys over for dinner, instead. They end up staying well into the evening, talking and laughing with her. Steve eats up all the gossip about the other building tenants that Gladys can dish out, and Eddie eggs them on.
When they say that they’ll have to have her over for dinner next, Gladys braces herself for the worst: the apartment of two busy young bachelors, Lord have mercy.
She’s pleasantly surprised to find, then, that it isn’t so bad at all. It’s a bit cluttered—particularly the desk shoved into the corner covered in graph paper and what appear to be tiny plastic figurines—but it’s quite clean.
After she’s offered to help with dinner and been politely denied, Gladys spends time looking at the photos they have pinned up on the wall. There are over a dozen, a collage of smiles and laugher featuring the same cast of teenagers in varying stages of growth, often posing with Steve or Eddie. There are quite a few of just Steve and Eddie together mixed in, and Gladys is warmed to see two such good friends.
Steve does most of the cooking that evening, but Eddie is a capable sous chef, anticipating Steve’s every request before he can even voice what he needs.
“Hey, can you hand me the, uh–” Steve snaps his fingers, searching for the word, and Eddie opens a drawer and presses a slotted spoon into Steve’s hand. “Yeah, that.”
Eddie grins and goes back to cutting vegetables.
Dinner is nice.
It goes on like this – trading favors here and there, dinners at one apartment or the other, evenings spent talking and laughing. Gladys finds that Eddie is an excellent opponent when playing cards, and Steve shares her fondness for Murder She Wrote.
Gladys and Avery never did get around to having children. At first, they hadn’t had the money, then they hadn’t had the time, and eventually – well, it had been too late. She’s never really regretted it—her maternal instinct isn’t a strong one—but she does find herself starting to think of these boys as hers. She even starts in on knitting some sweaters; the weather it’s getting cold, after all, and it’s the sort of thing you do when you want the people you care about to be protected from it.
It does strike Gladys as a little odd that she only ever sees them with each other; they’re both attractive young men, after all, and she can’t imagine why they don’t seem to go on dates. She’s never seen two friends as content in each other’s company as they are, but she supposes that’s really all that matters – that they’re content.
Things become clearer, however, one sleepless night months after the boys move in.
Insomnia isn’t new to Gladys; she’s dealt with it since she was young, and it seems like age has only increased the frequency of those nights she lies awake, staring at her bedroom ceiling.
She’s found her own ways of coping, over the years; she’ll fill the time with a good book or do some word puzzles or get some knitting in. If she’s feeling particularly restless, she might clean the apartment or even bake something.
She’s just considering whether or not the boys would appreciate some cinnamon rolls come morning (and whether or not it would top that loaf of cinnamon raisin bread Steve had made last week, not that Gladys is keeping track) when she hears the very subject of her thoughts come giggling down the hall.
The boys aren’t being loud, precisely, but they aren’t quiet, either, and there are fewer sounds in the night to swallow up their noise.
They sound happy – they must have had a late night out, coming home a little goofy and tipsy, talking and laughing and then shushing each other as they come to a halt, sounding close enough that they must be outside their own door, just across and to the left of Gladys’.
There’s a moment of indecision, and then Gladys is rising from her chair and crossing to the door. She feels a little silly, but the sight of a friendly face on a sleepless night can sometimes do wonders to soothe her nerves.
She’ll just pop out and say hello, a fellow after-midnighter, and then let them go.
She’s barely opened her door, however, just catching a glimpse of the boys, when something– unexpected happens.
Eddie is fumbling with his keys as Steve leans further and further into his space, and Gladys wonders if he’s drunker than he sounds, but then–
“Hey,” Steve murmurs, waiting for Eddie to look up, and it’s all the warning Eddie gets before Steve is kissing him full on the mouth.
Eddie drops his keys entirely, but it isn’t in shock so much as it is his apparent eagerness to get his hands on Steve, cupping his cheek in one and grabbing his hip with the other, pulling him closer.
This isn’t drunken fumbling – it isn’t even something new, Gladys realizes. The kiss is slow and gentle and lingering, the love in it so evident that for a moment an ache of longing, of missing Avery, rises up in Gladys’ chest.
Then, though he’d been the one to encourage the kiss, Eddie is the one to break it, and when he speaks, he’s properly quiet this time. Gladys can just barely hear him.
“Someone’s gonna see, baby.”
“Let ‘em,” Steve says, just as soft.
“Steve…”
Steve sighs, pressing his forehead to Eddie’s. “I wish I could show you off. Tell everyone how much I love you.”
Eddie in spite of his own warning, holds Steve close for a moment longer, swaying him gently. “No one else matters. I know you love me,” he says. “Come inside and show me how much?”
Glady’s can’t see Steve’s grin from this angle, but she can hear it when he says, “Yeah. I can do that.”
Then Eddie gathers his keys from the floor and actually manages to get the door open, pulling Steve in and shutting it after them and–
Well.
Gladys stands alone now, her door still cracked open, showing her the empty hallway, and–
Well.
Actually– well, actually, certain things make quite a bit more sense now.
“My, uh, roommate,” indeed.
Gladys closes her door, wandering back towards her easy chair as she thinks.
The only thing that doesn’t make sense is the two of them having the idea that they have to keep this from her. Utter nonsense.
Gladys will show them, though; her boys—and their secret—will always be safe with her.

You swirled the big ice cube in the tumbler with an unenthusiastic flair, making the orangey red liquid in the glass nearly spill. “And I don’t get it, we had a really nice first date and then made out again the next week and talked all the time and now he’s barely texting me back,” you complain, the tart grapefruit of your friend’s new take on an Aperol Spritz floods your mouth at your next sip.
“Maybe he’s just busy,” your friend Charlie suggests from behind the bar, “He’s older, you said, right? He might just not be on his phone as much. Do you like the drink? Is it too bitter?”
“It’s bitter but not in a bad way, in a good citrussy way,” you nod, “And yeah he might not be on his phone as much but then why just sort of suddenly drop off and barely respond? Like, look at this.” You take out your phone, laying it on the bar and scrolling through a plethora of blue texts with some sprinkles of gray in between, “I look so pathetic.” “I think you just really like him,” she shrugs, smirking, “And I think that’s good, you haven’t been this excited about someone for a little bit.” “Yeah, but every time I’m excited about someone it bites me in the ass,” you lean on the palm of your hand, flipping your phone over, “Plus like, I’m not trying to be with anyone like that right now.”
Your friend gives you a look, “Okay, sure.”
“What do you mean ‘okay, sure’?” you scoff.
“You’re not trying to be with anyone like your ex,” Charlie corrects, her dark red lips pulling into a smirk, “You go on and on about how you just want someone to take care of things for you. Maybe he’s that kind of dude.”
“He has someone come every Sunday to clean his house for him,” you sip the drink again, “I don’t think he can take care of anything for me, considering I can clean my own house.”  The bar slowly starts to fill up with the after work crowd, leaving Charlie to run back and forth between you and pouring beers for incoming patrons.
“He can afford to have someone come and clean his house,” she says with a smirk, holding down the tap while she fills a glass with Lagunitas, "That's kind of hot." You flip your phone back over and sigh, no new messages.
Tumblr media
If anything is true in the music and art world Eddie is involved in it's that Eddie Munson is a professional loverboy. Never with someone for too long, never long enough for them to want something more than fun -- never long enough for 'Are you my boyfriend?' never long enough for 'What are we?' It got easier the older he got, the less women and men cared about labels. You were right to make that judgement about his key carabiner hanging on the front of his keys. Eddie Munson is a slut, and everyone knows it but you.
He had two actual girlfriends in his early twenties, but nothing quite like his friendship with Steve. 'Platonic life partner, sometimes,' they'd list it as -- never too afraid to get affectionate. Hugs, kisses on the forehead, Eddie held him so many nights when Emma died he felt like they left an indent in the center of the bed. He touched and loved the people who loved him back, but to anyone else – he never wanted to get too close. He always gave out just enough of him – enough for people to keep wanting more, a satisfaction he basked in now since he was such a loner in high school with no notches to his belt.
But now he’s blabbering on to Robin over a huge plate of nachos about how you texted him all day. You texted him all day and he had his phone charging in the kitchen while he was upstairs in his office so he didn’t know and now it’s very clear that you’re upset.
"Okay? How is this different from the girl you were seeing over Christmas?" Robin laughs over a mouthful of loaded nachos, a frosty pink Frosé next to her to beat the heat. Her eyes crinkle closed, a smattering of freckles stretching on the apples of her cheeks when she smiles. The heat of a sunburn runs soft pink over her nose, outside of the gray in her sand blonde hair that she'll never dye, she looks almost the same as she did in high school. “So you didn’t text her back,” she shrugs, “You leave her alone, she fades off into the distance – just like the girl before that, and the guy before that, and the girl before that. Why're you talking about it like it's the end of the world?”  "I care," he groans, turning his phone to show Robin your messages. You'd sent them every few hours, but most of the messages from the morning and afternoon were from when he was working -- phone nestled on the charger down in the kitchen while he clacked away on code upstairs. By the time he saw them he was embarrassed, and you were probably already at your friend's bar. Eddie tries to explain the whole situation while Robin scrolls through with a careful and soft expression, a tiny smile forming on her face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I already fucked it up,” Eddie sighs, pulling his hair up into a ponytail with volume hair stylists would envy. He runs his hand over his jaw, following the edge of it to land behind his neck where he squeeze gently on the muscle.
Robin shrugs again, passing his phone back to him, “Par for the course, kid.”
His eyes narrow, “I’m older than you.”
“Whatever,” she rolls her eyes, “You always fuck it up, Ed. That's your thing. You walk into a room and someone leaves crying. You've never done the whole sappy love thing with someone, why do you think you're changing your tune now?”
“I know but – fuck Robin, I didn’t even sleep with her yet,” he says a little louder than he intends. His tattooed hand wraps around the Pilsner glass in front of him, dripping in condensation, bringing it to his lips.
“That’s a new development,” she raises her brows, crossing her legs, "You never wait this long."
“I just…I don’t…I shit – I don’t know.”
“What did Steve say?” Robin asks, teeth biting down on the straw to her drink, “He always has good girl advice.”
“I haven’t even told Steve.”
“At all?!” she nearly spits out the frose all over the nachos.
“Rob we just buried Em,” he explains softly, “Like, she’s not even fuckin’ cold yet. I can’t just come out of the woodwork five months later like ‘Hey man, think I actually met a girl I’d consider a future with. We’ve been seeing each other for a month’. And like – what if I’m just psyching myself out? What if this is just an early midlife crisis?”
Robin takes a slow sip, nodding while he speaks before taking a pause. “Ed, I think you’ll feel better if you tell Steve,” she offers, “I think he’d get your head straight about it. But in the meantime, you should text her back.”
“What do I even say?” he huffs, shoving a loaded nacho into his mouth.  “Try honesty with a woman for once in your entire life, Rockstar boy,” Robin plasters on a customer service smile that makes him let out a frustrated ‘tsss’, “It won’t kill you.” "Here, I'll text Nance and ask her -- she's our next best bet," Robin takes out her phone and types with the fervor of a teenager with a sugar high. Eddie sips his beer, looking at the screen of his phone while the cursor to type blinks back at him.

You stumble out of the bar, too crowded now to have fun with your friend. Over tired and over served you make your way down the street and around the corner, stopping to lean against the brick wall of a different bar when you feel your phone buzz in your hand. You take a minute, taking in your surroundings. People are so loud down here, and everyone is so pretty. Street lights are there and gone and there and gone as cars whiz passed on Delancey, the bustle of the Friday night life in the LES is a buzz with excitement. You're already a little down for the count. Your phone feels like a paper weight in your hand, sighing with satisfaction at the notificaiton on the screen. But your chest still aches with annoyance, how many times were you gonna get drunk at a bar with a swollen heart over some dumb boy? Man? Guy?

You don't want him to come save you, you know how to get home. You can see the green bulbs of the train entrance and the glow of the McDonalds 'M' on the corner in the distance. Down the stairs, one train into Brooklyn, cross platform transfer -- you've done it drunker than this countless times before. You text Charlie with an air of victory before putting your phone back in your smart black faux leather bag slung over your shoulder. The warm summer air flows over your legs, catching the hem of your a-line skirt -- the light material flowing in the breeze. Time isn't working quite right for you but it feels like it's been five minutes and he hasn't shown up, so you make your way to the edge of the corner to cross.
"Whoa there, Peach," you hear Eddie's gruff voice from the side of you, the pull on your arm the same as when he steadied you at Trader Joe's a month ago, "Careful now."
You pull out of his hold, glassy eyes focused on the black and white stripes on the street ahead of you, "I know what I'm doin'."
“Where are you goin’, huh?” he asks softly. Eddie steps in front of you, guiding you to the light post to get out of the way of other pedestrians.
“Home,” you slur, “M’goin home. Trainssright there.”
“I don’t think you’re good to take the train,” his voice is gentle, hand coming out to hold you at the waist, “I can get you a car.”
“I’m fine.” It's the only sentence that comes out lucid, his jaw ticks.
"You don't look fine," he looks down into your glassy eyes, a look he's seen before. The way his mama would drown herself in whiskey and stumble into the kitchen so the bruises would't hurt so bad. The way an old fling would slur to him about how she can't live without him. The way you look so sad and it's his fault.
"I'm. Fine," you reiteratie. The light changes, the bright white of the walk sign flashes across the street. You go to pass him but his hands place themselves on your shoulders. "You really wanna get boiled alive on the train?" he asks with a smile, "You don't wanna take a car?" You sigh, why does he have to be so handsome? The gin from your last two drinks travels from your head to your thighs, pulling them together at the sight of his smile. He has that ratty vest on, a CBGC t-shirt sticking to him under it, the sleeves completely torn off. He smells like cedar and citrus again, a hint of a left over cigarette. His grays catch the light of the over head lamp, bouncing like tinsel in his pony tail sitting on the crown of his head. "Can we go to your house?" you ask, voice raised a higher octave than normal. His face blanches, "Aw honey, that's not a good idea. I don't want you to think that I --" "Please?"

"Thanks, have a good night," Eddie waves off the delivery man with a smile as he rides away on his bike. With plastic in hand he makes his way back up the stairs where you've set up shop on one of the stools in his kitchen, head down on the island counter.
"Food's here," he says quietly. Dealing with drunk you was very much like dealing with drunk Robin in the early 2010s, overgrown toddler in a bad mood. You let out a half hearted 'Yay', head coming up, eyes half closed in the kind of sleepiness a few mixed drinks and some beers can send you into. He goes into the fridge and pulls out two bottles of Poland Spring and a beer for himself. The waters get placed in front of you while he tends to getting the food plated up.
You ignore the water -- Blue Moon bottle staring right at you, and to be honest -- a cold cirtussy beer sounds sooo good right now. You reach forward, the glass ice cold against your palm now that the liquor has fully settled, heating up your skin. The sound of glass on the counter cobbles through the kitchen when you slide it closer to you, alerting Eddie to the noise.
“Excuse me,” he says sharply, snatching the bottle out of your hand, “Can you behave?”
You pout when his eyes narrow at you, heart thumping guiltily in your chest, shame brewing in your skin. You nod back at him with sad eyes, a twinge plucking in your heart strings.
“Don’t give me that face,” he warns, “Don't act up."
“I don’t like when you’re mean,” you mumble softly, running your fingers in shapes over the butcher's block counter top. He sighs, plating your sandwich and pulling your fries from the bag. He kisses your temple while he slides the plate in front of you. "I'm sorry, honey," he says quietly, but gin always puts you in the mood to argue. "You don't have to talk to me like, like -- you don't have to talk to me -hic!- like I'm a kid," you hurtle out, surprised at your own gumption, "I'm not."
"I know," he says, putting the bags into his recycling bin under the sink, "I'm not talking to you in any kind of way Peach I -- " "You don't even like me," you state. His head cocks to the side, leaning on his hands while they hold on to the edge of the island. "Who said that?" "I was -hic!- I was talking to someone at the bar about --" you start, lump building in your throat, "About you and um -- they said, they said it sounds like --" Your eyes water, "Like I'm just for fun." "Oh," he says, looking down at his hands. The weight of this conversation falling into his stomach from his chest like a deep pit.
"Like I'm just fun for you to play with -- but like, you don't even wanna have -- you don'even wanna h-have-have seggzwithme so like -- you don't even like me." More and more if your insecurities flow out of you like a broken faucet, tears starting to slip down your cheeks.
"And like you probably don't even think I'm pretty."
"Oh, baby, no," he coos, brows tilted in sympathy while you drunkenly let all your sober fears out, "I think you're so pretty."
"So pretty," you repeat, wiping your face with your hands, "But that's it."
Eddie takes a deep breath, coming over to you and pressing his warm soft lips to your cheek, "Let's talk about this in the morning, sweetheart. I'm gonna get upstairs ready for you."
"I should just go home," you sniffle, embarrassment starting to flow through you with your bloodstream, burning all your pores, "I'm sorry." "No, no, don't go home," he assures, nose nuzzling against your cheek, "Stay. Just stay."

He makes sure you eat, watching you come back to yourself the fuller and more hydrated you get. You're easy to lead upstairs, pliant and tired now, needy almost -- not that you'd ever admit to it. You tease him about his 'old man pills' when he takes out his perscription high dose Motrin he got for some old back pain. Great for when you might get a killer hangover these days. You grimace at the Pedialyte mixture he has you drink before you get tucked into his bed -- out before you can even feel him grab the pillows and a throw from the other side of you. He settles in downstairs on the sectional, sighing while he thinks about the way your face scrunches when you're about to cry. He flicks through his Hulu options on the big screen in front of him but nothing really seems to catch his attention. Mind wandering to you asleep upstairs but knowing better than to crawl into bed next to you when you're not yourself enough to say it's okay. The familiar buzz of his phone goes off on the coffee table, when he picks it up his face is on the front screen while someone calls in on FaceTime. "You're callin' late, man," Eddie grins lazily, socked feet sticking out to rest on the worn walnut table in front of him, "You okay?" "Yeah me and Bandit just got in from camping. Got some pics of him to send you, he's such a scamp." "You have fun?" he asks, rubbing his eyes. Eddie's voice is quiet while he speaks making Steve's head cock to the side. The lights changes on his face while he walks from the living room to his bedroom. "Yeah we had a lot of fun," Steve starts, "Why're you whispering?" "What do you mean?" Eddie asks, getting up off the couch to pad back into the kitchen. "You're talkin' all quiet," Steve smirks, "You got a girl over or something?" Ed puts his phone down and huffs while he grabs a bag of chips from the cabinet. Steve giggle, leaning his head in closer to the screen. "You do, don't you?" he guffaws, "Am I interrupting?" "She's sleeping," Eddie says softly, picking up the phone again and leaning against the counter. "Aw, so you ended up texting her back? Good."
"What the fuck? Who told you that?" Eddie's brows furrow, spitting through a mouthful of chips. "Robin, obviously." The light changes on him again while he makes his way to his own kitchen. Bandit's little pants and huffs echoing into the phone, "You think Nancy came up with the 'Hey pretty girl,' opening? She's never been a flirt."
"Well it worked so, congrats."
"Why didn't you tell me about her?" Steve pulls his own bag of chips out. They crunch together. "It just didn't seem right," he shrugs, "Y'know with Emma it's hard to be like, 'Hey I think I might actually see a future with this girl I've only been seeing for a few weeks.' Like, you just lost the love of your life."
"I'm not gonna be sad to hear that you're into someone, Ed," Steve smiles softly, voice calm, "Tell me about her."
So he does, he tells Steve about how he kept running into you that day at Trader Joe's and how he felt so stupid for not waiting at the doors for you but he was too scared. You were so cute in your bike shorts and sneakers, so careful in how you chose the fruit you were gonna get. When he saw you on the platform he knew it was like he was getting a second chance -- "Maybe Em thought you should stop being such a whore and sent her over," Steve laughs. Ed rolls his eyes but can't hold back his chuckle, watching as Steve rests his chin on the heel of his hand while he listens. Eddie talks about the picnic date, how he immediately felt comfortable telling you about his mom. The rain, the kiss in his apartment -- how he could've fucked you but didn't. How all your little dates had gone since.
"Oh so you like her," Steve nods.
"I'm scared," Eddie says quietly. "Scared?"
"What if it's just a fluke and I hurt her? Or I get hurt?" Eddie asks, "And like -- please don't take this the wrong way but like -- what if I put in all this effort and then lose her?"
"Like how I lost Em?"
Eddie nods slowly, not wanting to say the quiet part out loud. He talks about what you said when you got back to his place, how you think he doesn't really like you, how he doesn't think you're pretty. You're just for fun. "But this doesn't feel like 'just for fun', does it?" Steve challenges gently, "Cause if she was just for fun you would've texted me about if she could deep throat or not."
Eddie chuckles darkly, pink rising on his cheeks -- Steve chuckles too. Still gross boys who are gross.
"You should tell her how you feel," he encourages, "What's the worst that can happen?" "Everything."
"Okay," Steve shrugs, "I lost everything. And what happened?"
"We all came to pick you up." "Exactly. We'll be here to pick you up, too. Don't like..." Steve sighs, "Don't just immediately throw something away just because you're not used to it. The more you stand there and think about what you want, the less she's gonna think you want it."
"I know..." "So let her know you want it."
They talk for an hour, both cozied up on their respective couches -- Bandit immediately getting in the frame and yelping at Eddie's face on the screen. The seize in Eddie's chest loosens because maybe this could be okay. Now he just has to make sure you know it.

You wake up the next morning, groggy and dry -- but thankfully not nearly as hungover as you were expecting. Your joints hurt, your stomach's a little jumbled, but no headache and that's what matters the most. You shift in his crisp sheets, turning around to see that the bed is empty next to you -- pillows and throw blanket gone with him. You slept alone. You look at your phone on the bedside table next to a full bottle of water. You chug it while you check your notifications -- 6:11 AM. If anything was true, you always woke up too early when you drank too much the night before. The water sits heavy in your belly, pressing your bladder which was already screaming for you to go to the bathroom. With a sigh you stand up, and when you do, the embarrassment of the night before settles in. Your emotional hangover.
You pad to the bathroom and pee, seeing your face in the mirror like you did the night you got rained out. Your makeup is smeared, face a little bloated -- you do your best to wash it off. The cool water feels good against your skin, still hot from the liquor and dehydration. You pat your face dry and leave the bathroom, lingering at the top of the stairs where he's laying on the couch, already awake. "G'morning," you rasp out. He perks up, head tilting up to look at you from his place in the living room. "Morning, peach," he smiles, "You feelin' okay?"
You nod, ungracefully stomping down the metal steps of the spiral staircase while you get your footing, "Your old man pills must be magic or something."
Eddie pulls back the blanket, scooching back against the cushions to make room for you to lay down next to him, "C'mere, baby."
C'mere, baby runs down your spine, making your throat catch. You make your way towards the couch, crawling in next to him. The living room is quiet, with just some early morning sun pooling into the windows -- like you two are the only people awake on the street this morning. He covers you up, wasting no time wrapping himself around you and pulling you into him, "Did you sleep okay?"
"Yeah," you nod into his chest, the scent of his skin mixing with the faint smell of cirtus and cedar, "Did you?" "Normally I'm fine on the couch," he says, voice grizzly and sleepy, "But I didn't sleep a wink last night." "Oh, I'm sorry. I could've slept on the couch or I --" "No, it's not that," he shakes his head, catching your gaze, "Probably would've slept better if you were next to me." Your cheeks burn, a smile splittling across your face, "Well I'm here now."
"You are," he nods, leaning up to run his thumb over the apple of your cheek where a stray piece of glitter sits. Remnants of your makeup that you couldn't wash away.
"I'm um...sorry for how I acted last night," you confess, "That's not like -- that's not how I am."
"Don't be sorry," he assures quietly, "I understand." You're both quiet for a moment, the hum of the central air fuzzing the silence between you. "You're not just for fun, peach," he says, a seriousness to his normally playful voice, "I'm sorry I made you feel like that." "I um -- I'm sorry I kind of went a little insane," you shrug, feeling small, "I didn't mean to text all those times and then come here and cry and like --" "Stop apologizing," he says, thumb grazing your lower lip to stop you, "You were just feeling a way, that's okay. I get it." He takes his thumb away, leaning down to give you a kiss that sends you reeling. Warm and soft, delicate. His hands lead his arms around you again, smiling when you reach up to cup his cheek. "I like you," Eddie smirks against your mouth. "I like you, too," you smile when he breaks away. "The deli's open on the corner if you want me to run over and get a bacon, egg, and cheese," he offers quietly. "Why do I feel like you were gonna do that anyway?" you ask in the same tone. "I was," he grins again, "I just wanted to impress you by asking." He sits up, clamboring over you to get some coffee started so it'll be done by the time he gets back. You wait patiently for him, rolling your eyes while he shoves his socked feet in his slides, leaving the house in his pajamas of a t-shirt and black joggers. You prepare the coffees, feeling domestic like you live here -- getting used to where things are already.
He comes back twenty minutes later, sighing when the air conditioning hits him as the door opens, "It's already like, 80 degrees."
"Gross," you reply, face scrunching in the way that he likes, "Coffee is ready." "Oh, thank you." His eyes glitter at the gesture, seeing that you used the same mugs from when he had you over the first time. Those are his favorites, but you'll learn that eventually. The sandwhiches are tossed on the butcher block counter where you cried last night, but your embarrassment melts away when you feel him wrap himself around you again -- like he can't get enough. "I'm playing a show on Thursday at House of Yes," he says, "They're doing a metal theme'd night." "Yeah?" you ask, hands reaching for the plastic baggy and taking out both of your sadwhiches wrapped in foil. His arms still tight around your middle while you maneuver around your kitchen. "You should come," he asks, kissing the top of your head, "I'll get you a ticket."
"I don't know if that's really my scene," you shrug, twisting in his hold to face him, "I'm not like -- I'm not cool and underground like that." "So?" he quirks his brow, "You can be cool and underground for one night to hang out with your hottie rockstar boy-toy."
"That's so gross that you described yourself that way," you laugh, pushing out of his hug and opening your sandwhich, "Like, so cringey, babe." "Babe," he repeats back to you, "I like that. You can call me 'babe' whenever you want." "Duly noted," you agree, teeth sinking into the bread of the roll and breaking into the warm and gooey center. The jumble in your stomach starting to fade away while the grease of the egg soothes it. Eddie takes his sandwhich and coffee to the living room, taking his phone off the coffee table to open up his text conversation with Steve:
she called me babe.
i literally can't even breathe right now.
