Miles and Gwen ATSV Rooftop scene, but with sports commentators
Play-by-play (Jim): Sundown ambience, and we have Gwen and Miles sitting upside down together on a romantic rooftop setting. This should be the opportune time for a love confession!
Gwen: In every other universe, Gwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man.
Play-by-play (Jim): Gwen appears to signal that there IS something between her and Miles. How will Miles respond?
Miles: *moves his hand closer*
Play-by-play (Jim): Miles appears to take her signal, and he's going for it. This might be it!
Gwen: ... And in every other universe, it doesn't end well.
Miles: *moves his hand back*
*Audience groans*
Play-by-play (Jim): Oh no, that's a rough one, folks. Gwen was up a huge margin and Miles was willing to follow her lead, but she decided to throw her massive advantage.
Game analyst (Bob): Jim, it was a nice try by Miles, but it looks like Gwen still has a bunch of inner demons that are lowering her stats.
Miles: Well... it's the first time for everything, right?
Play-by-play (Jim): Oh my god, but Miles responds using his signature technique, the "Rizzales", in a clutch recovery! Their relationship is still salvageable, Bob!
Game analyst (Bob): Looks like Miles has been training himself with Aaron's teachings after he passed. Lord bless his soul.
Gwen: Hmm... *leans a shoulder onto Miles*
*NFL theme starts playing*
Play-by-play (Jim): And Gwen seems to be impressed by Miles's "Rizzales"! Miles and Gwen can still work! Thoughts, Bob?
Game analyst (Bob): I agree, Jim! If Gwen and Miles continue to work together harmoniously for the rest of the season, they'll inevitably get together way before playoffs. Only things that can hinder this are potentially mind-breaking reveals and game-changing secrets, but with today's performances from the two of them, I predict a very smooth endgame for GhostFlower.

Wouldn't it be funny if reader is aware abt the spiderverse being yandere and stuff but still continues to act blissfully unaware and when they found abt the youtwo situation and stuff they used that to their advantage to basically escape the obsessive grasps the yandere spiderverse has. and basically readers all giddy abt it
YouTwo: wow, it sure would be a shame if I started stealing all of this excessive attention you seem to get. I wonder if all your little spider society friends would even be able to tell :)
You: oh my sweet summer child. Oh my little tiny baby still on its mother's milk. Oh my naive ignorant little newborn
You: y'all can fucking HAVE THEM, my guy
You: once I thought I was being nice by offering Miguel some of the extra snacks I was eating while I was delivering a message in-person from another Spiderman and I got close enough that I accidentally saw the holograms he was looking at and this man had been watching another dimension where we were having our wedding
You: Pavitr who has never done anything wrong in his life ever once invited me to a family member's wedding and I was stupid enough to say yes because then I had him and his girlfriend babbling in my ear while I got literal actual personally customized henna, do you have any idea how time consuming and intricate and personal henna is, I felt like I was naked. Beautiful wedding, literally did not have privacy almost that entire day
You: the other week Peter B somehow got the access code from Miguel to have the security clearance to broadcast across the Spider Society and I was in the middle of the cafeteria when literally everyone in the room had their watches light up with his face, "hey I can't find them myself so if anyone sees my other kid let them know how cool they are and how much I love them and how Uncle Pete misses em 🥰" and to this day I can't enter the food court without a literal army of Peter Parkers obnoxiously teasing me, "We LoOOoOooOooVE YoU SwEEtiE"
You: Jess got overwhelmed with the pregnancy hormones once and she asked me how my day was going and I made the mistake of being honest and said I was a little sad and she burst into tears begging me to move into the spare bedroom of her house and asking when I ate last and insisted I join her and her husband for "a family dinner"
You: that Morales kid was feeling kind of depressed so I gave him my perspective on adulthood and how sometimes the only expectations you need to meet are your own dreams for yourself and i told him all these good qualities i saw in him to cheer him up, and now he and Gwen Stacy keep showing up unannounced in my universe to hang out. Do you know how hard it is to avoid someone who can turn invisible. My knees crack when I stand up from sitting down for too long, I can't outrun two parkouring teenagers!
You: the other day i had an earbud fall into the back of my hoodie so I just took it off and shook it out trying to find it and like three different goobers fell out and I pick one of them up and it literally looks like a piece of plastic and I must've accidentally hit something because it said "beep boop boop" in an IRL person's voice and I'm like "hello???" And someone replies "YEAH, LEGO SPIDERMAN HERE"

Things about Peter Parker that warms my heart:
- He wakes up at Mary Jane's side everyday.
- He probably took many naps with Torch when they lived together.
- He definitely had/has a portifolio fill with photos of Spider-Man and random moments in new york, specially with the citizens;
- He canonically keeps photos of Gwen, the coffee bean gang and MJ with him;
- He's low profile and has to constantly update his knowledge about cyber security;
- He really enjoys the moments he gets to just sit and talk with the random team-up of the month;
- He used to wake up to the smell of aunt May's coffee;
- He's constantly under the effect of caffeine;
- He has a tired baby face. Meaning he always had a babyface, but the older he gets the more tired he looks and he hates it because the babyface it's still there. It's the John Mulaney effect of "Oh that tall child look terrible!";
- He looks like your random STEM nerdy guy, it gets him bitches and he has no idea of that;
- His best friend (torch) is pan so theres a huge probability that he attended pride as Peter Parker once or twice;
- He and others superheros always keep an eye at pride and others protests to make sure everyone it's safe;
- He doesn't trust cops, but tries to believe it must be good people out there (sweet poor summer child);
- His nature and nurture is kind and he fucking hates it. He's always like "Can't I let it go just this time? And no. He can't;
- Everyone loves him, he's just that guy. A lot people hate his guts because he's also that guy.
- Big brown doe eyes *sight*;
- Has no idea about how pretty he is, has a certa idea about how hot he is;
- "Yes my wife is hotter than me, yes I'm aware about how much cooler she is too but *I* got the funny bone in this relationship";
- Is unsufferable;
- cries at queer weddings;
- cries a lot how much a middle age man can cry, fuck he was supposed to stop that at highschool goddamit-
- Hate's men with passion will get annoying about how much he hates men;
- Easily makes friendship with woman, is the "I'll awkwardly wait them in front of the woman's bathroom" type of guy vibes;
- Bad dad jokes since he was fourteen;
- Was hated in highschool, slighted less hated in college, very well liked by his work colleges;
- "I don't have anxiety I don't have money to afford have anxiety I am currently undiagnosing myself as we speak";
- Hating men will not stopping him from flirting with them what? what are you homophobic or something???
- "Wdym my hair is a mess I just- *checks mirror* oh FOR FUCK SAKE-"
- He is that guy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- That's him and Johnny and he is SO MAD about it;
Tumblr media
- And he and johnny are that tiktok meme where those two friends are always on eachother instagram because they always take photos together.
- That's him and Deadpool when they finally got better at being friends with eachother:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deadpool does takes pictures of him but they always end up being like that (hehateshimsomuch):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- That's how he knows deadpool is in new york because he sends him aligned with "this u" meme
- He also does that when they're text arguing "wade i WILL fuckig kill you";
- misspell when angry, misspell when sad, misspell regardless.

Capricorn Season Chapter Fifteen Part One

It’s Gwen’s birthday! Just a cute little chapter before Bron Yr Aur. Enjoy...
-
My eyes open and I am greeted with the sight of the boathouse, the place I have been staying for the last four months. I have come to know it as home. My apartment stays cold and desolate, a place I do not wish to stay. Although it was ultimately nicer and prettier, cleanlier too, I like to stay here because it reminds me of him.
I turned over in the nest of the bed we built and see him. He was smiling already, cheeks red, and sent me a silent wish with his eyes. They were twinkling and bright.
"Good morning, my love." His face was pressed against my chest, sweet and child-like I gave him a giggle as he looked up at me with his drooping eyes, laden with thick sleep. He looked like he had a good rest, one he needed desperately.
He was home for just a short time. Soon he'd be off to Bron Yr Aur. He'd been home for a week now and I was enjoying our quiet bliss. I didn't think I would have been so relieved to see him, but I was.   "Good morning, my little Jimmy." "Happy birthday!" "Thank you." I bloomed like the flowers outside our windows. The Spring air was in full effect, Summer on its way. A thin melon-slice smile played on my face. Today would be a good day. It would be the first good birthday I'd had in many years. I knew this because he assured me and I had no reason to not believe him. "Do we have any plans for today?" "As you've requested, it shall be just us for most of the day. But the guys wanted to stop by to see you for a little bit and wish you a happy birthday." "Awe, that's so sweet!"
I played with a loose thread on our sheets. The sun was coming in from around the edge of our drawn curtains, painting shapes on the carpet.   "I am going to give you your first of many presents today." He reached over to the side table and produced a joint. It wasn't wrapped very neatly, so I could tell it was done by him. Robert had better rolling skills than either of us. "Oh, thank you!" I took it from his hands and admired his poor craftsmanship. It was sweet that he tried.
We shared the joint, passing it back and forth until there was nothing but a smoking stub left. He pressed the remainder into an ashtray that was perched on his bedside table. It was a marvelous way to start my birthday. When the ashtray was firmly tucked away on the bedside table, next to the tiffany lamp, he turned to me and spoke, "Now we have breakfast." "You've prepared breakfast?" "Of course. It's on the table, all ready for us." His smile was sweet and rested comfortably on his face. "Well, we better make sure Lucy doesn't gobble it all up before we get down there."
We made for the stairs. We walked together, his steps trailing behind me, and soon reached the bottom of the steps. When we got down to the kitchen the meal was pristine and untouched. Lucy sat on one of the white chairs, her front paws on the edge of the table, creeping her way onto the cloth.
She was quick, but not quick enough. I scooped her up before she could snatch anything up.
"When it's your birthday, we'll make you breakfast. Not today though." I held her in my arms long enough for her to start purring. The rumbling radiating from her body was sweet and made my heart swell. I placed her on the ground and sat at the table, ready to eat. "This all looks so good!" He made a wonderful spread of all my favorites. Waffles topped with whipped cream and fruit, eggs, a breakfast sausage I did not know the name of, and fruit juice. It was plated nicely with chocolate syrup on the side for my waffles and flowers placed in the middle of the table in a vase. He told me they were for me.
The arrangement was beautiful. Blooms of purple, yellow, and pink were spread evenly in the glass vase. I tapped my fingers against the sturdy container, listening to the twinkling sound it produced.   The herb was working its way through my system to full effect, causing me to devour my plate. I was gluttonous and greedy on my special day. I didn't care for table manners. I sang in pleasure as I ate. The fruit was so sweet and soft, tasting as if it were a perfect Summer day in July. I was curious how he got berries that tasted so delightfully. They couldn't have been normal fruits, they must've been picked from wavering trees in the backyards of gods older than the sun. I thought maybe he had gathered them himself, fighting through millennia of carnage to retrieve the fruit. What could he have encountered on this journey for my breakfast? Perhaps ancient and sentient beings much larger than him, things unfathomable by the human mind. I thought of him moving through space and time to join me here, with his great gifts. He returned at just the right hour to celebrate my birthday, bringing with him wonderful news and of course, the magical berries. Forever the memory of the sugary delights would stain my tongue. I fear the magic of fruit would be tainted, no Summery gift being as wonderful as this one. I pushed that thought aside and ate my eggs and sausage. "So, how was it?" He asked when I was finished.
"It was great, thank you. Just what I needed." I said as I sat my fork down. I was full and longed for a nap.
He stood from the table and collected our plates, planting a kiss on the crown of my head as he went.
-   After breakfast was finished and our plates were clean we sat back at the table to read. He was reading A Sicilian Romance by Ann Radcliffe. It was gothic horror, combining psychological terror and poetry to create a chilling tale of death and betrayal. It seemed to be Jimmy's kind of book, a real page-turner. It was published in 1790, as old as he seemed to be. I was not too fond of reading novels as I found my attention span hard to suspend. But this book I had was special. I was reading I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, a recently published autobiography, written by a new writer named Maya Angelou. She was a black woman from San Fransisco who had a penchant for storytelling. I found the book excellent so far. Ross, a dear photographer friend from California, had given it to me as an early gift. I received it in the mail just two days ago. The kitchen was quiet as we sat in chairs next to each other, our knees pressed close together. The sun was shining expertly, the only way it knew how to, and illuminated our books. I could hear the occasional turning of a page from Jimmy and the waves down below the boathouse. I was filled with an aura of peace, perhaps tranquility. I had never known such a sweet silence. Lucy joined us, starting first by wrapping her soft body around our legs and then jumping up on the table. She took a seat in front of me and began chattering to get my attention. When I only gave her a passing glance and a pat on the head she turned to Jimmy. She sat in front of him and started chattering once more. She was a loud cat, often alerting me to her presence when I got home from work. My day was never complete unless I heard her cries for attention from the next room. He laughed and sat his book down, placing a mark on his page, then picked her up. He held her like the baby she was and scratched her under her chin. She threw her head back in simple pleasure, the kind only a cat could experience. We smiled at her cuteness, fawning over the creature was saw as our child. She really was, so desperate for our love and always hungry, just like a baby. I feared her toddler years of destruction and energy. "So cute," He murmured as he set her back on the table. She jumped down, contented with the love she had received and went back to wherever she wanted to be. We returned to our reading and remained that way for almost another hour. When I finally grew tired of reading I sat my book down and yawned, leaning my head on his shoulder. He mirrored my actions and sat his book down, turning his attention to me. "Robert and Jonesy should be here soon." "Can we put on some music and prepare the tea?" "I've trained you so well. I can hear the accent coming in already." He wiped nonexistent tears from his eyes and feigned a sob. "It's fookin' tea time!" I belted, slamming my hands onto the kitchen table.
He did not find my impression humorous. But I threw my head back and cackled, tickled by my own joke. He simply rolled his eyes and walked to the other side of the kitchen. "Oh, c'mon, it's my birthday, give me a break! I can't help that I wasn't born into this feeble nation." "I'll let that one slide since it is your birthday," he turned to me, hand still on the cupboard, "but I'm getting sick of your cheeky impressions." He ended with a toothy smile. I grinned back, barring my teeth the same as he. Robert and Jonesy did come by soon enough. I was a little embarrassed that they had brought me gifts, no matter how small. When they presented their boxes I covered my face and laughed into my hands. Robert told me not to be so meek, prodding at me until I dropped my barricades. He had given me a simple present, a bag of magical herb wrapped in a pretty package. It was tied with a curly red ribbon. Jonesy was less dissolute than the singer, opting instead to gift me with a book. It was a collection of poems by Emily Dickinson, a portly, pink volume of her completed works. I hugged them both and thanked them repeatedly, delivering kisses to their faces. I felt like someone's garish aunt, delivering sloppy smooches in a tight grip.
I hadn't read much Emily Dickinson. I was pleasantly surprised with the large edition, it must have been expensive! The binding was thick and the ink was regal. I brushed my fingers over the golden imprint on the cover, which sported the title and author. It was the nicest poetry book I'd owned. The guys must be making good money from Zeppelin with these gifts. Robert gave me a half, I can't imagine how much that cost!
I thanked them both a thousand times and rambled on and on about how much I loved their gifts. I must've sounded silly. They just laughed and shook their heads, telling me it was no trouble. I wondered where Bonzo was, but I chalked it up to us not knowing each other as well as the others. I took to Robert and Jonesy immediately and the friendship just stuck. What can I say? We were compatible! They didn't stay too long after they finished their tea. They said their goodbyes and took their voices and mirth with them. I was left in the living room with Lucy while Jimmy gathered the tea tray and took our discarded dishes to the sink. I absentmindedly pet her while I thought about how I'd spent this day in the past. One year stood out in particular. On my 14th trip around the sun, my first with my father's new family, I was still very scared of the new home I inhabited. It was not memorable for the lack of events or being misremembered. I had a party, and that was the issue. My step-mother treated it as a celebration of Summer, a time I just so happened to be born in. My cake, which I didn't eat because she chose vanilla knowing I hated it, didn't even have my name on it. I remember the feeling of sadness that filled me. I thought having a real party was going to be wonderful. I'd never had one, after all, unless you count the nights of my mother stumbling in late at night coming home from a party, smelling like alcohol. But even the downcast glances and displaced cheer were much better than spending my day alone wiping away tears. The day wouldn't have been too special to any other child, just another birthday spent by the pool if it hadn't been my first one with this new family I was forced into. I remember feeling so small and scared, so tempted to hide in my bed and shut the world out.
My step-mom was always so spiteful about me. I suppose being forced to raise a thirteen-year-old that was a long-harbored secret was not a pleasant ordeal, even if you could afford it. There were times that I had wished my mother would've just kept me, even if that meant I was left on my own often and with very little money. I thought, sometimes, that it would've been better than feeling like a floundering fish hoisted onto the scorched deck.
This was a similar feeling to my first birthday with my first love, Dominic. He wasn't one for big displays of affection but my birthday was a different story. He had thrown me a party which was quiet and elegant. He was not the type to throw a raging drug fest, unlike many of the parties happening in the early '60s. It was more of a cocktail party complete with formal wear and champagne. I felt saliant having such a fancy party thrown in my honor.
He invited the few friends I'd made during my first year at Berkely and some of his. I didn't like his friends too much, they were all snobby and intellectual, something they could tell I wasn't. I never felt quite good enough for Dom, and his friends were part of the reason.
My friends were the opposite. Carolyn, nicknamed Care, was an art major and a known socialite. I felt lucky to be so close to her. She'd taken me under her wing, one could say. She helped me slip into a friend group with people like Frankie, short for Francesca, and Liz, obviously short for Elizabeth. They were also art students but focused more on pottery and sculpture. They were kind to me from day one. I still miss them sometimes.
I found it hard to make friends with the people in my department. The psychology majors were largely male and horribly white. They were entirely obsessed with Freud's approach to academia, making it inacesseabile to the undereducated and non-white, which ironically made up most of the country. I suppose Dominic saw the disinterest in me for this line of thought and that's what attracted him. He was into all of that pan-Africanism and returning to the mother country stuff. It all sounds like a crusade to me now, a noble one, but a crusade nonetheless. As the night wained on he brought out a large white cake. It said "Happy Birthday Guinevere" in purple frosted lettering. After I blew my candles out he swiped a thick glob of frosting off the cake and dotted it on my nose. I giggled and wiped it off with the sleeve of my cardigan.
At that moment someone took a flash photo of us. It was taken on my polaroid camera but I never saw the photo. I felt like we were getting married. I was a beautiful bride on my birthday and he was a terribly dressed groom. I wonder where that photo ended up. I imagined it sitting in a shoebox in someone's attic or a landfill. I hoped for the former. I laughed at this memory. Never did I think I would have a day like this, spent basking in the warmth of someone I truly cared for. We gave equally, I got back what I put in. I'd never had that.
The memories of my first birthdays were lined up now, at Dad's, with Dom, and now with Jimmy. Of course, this day was the best I'd had, spending it with someone I felt truly understood and accepted me, but I couldn't help compare it to the first one at Dad's. It wasn't great, as I've already mentioned, but a wonderful thing happened to me that day. My step-mom, even through her cruelty, and dare I say wickedness, had gotten me my first camera that day.
I remember pulling it out of the box and being amazed. I had never really interacted with a camera of that quality. Mom only ever had enough money to pay the bills, buy food, and party away what was left, so I never got new things. I never got nice birthday presents, and we definitely didn't waste time pining after luxuries such as cameras or televisions. I had a record player, a tape recorder, and a library pass to fill my time.
I took hundreds of photos that Summer. Sophia, my step-mom, was not happy with the six rolls of film I devoured in one month, but I didn't care. I had a new lease on life, it seemed. I had a purpose. As long as I had that camera, I had a reason to get out of the house and talk to people. It was my way of sinking my teeth into the outer world around me, a way to escape from my head and drab room. I would ask people walking down the street if they could pose, I would ask them about their day and what they were up to and snap two or three photos in the process. It was my first introduction to the art of photography. And it was all me.
Out in that bustling town in California is where I attempted and perfected the techniques I still use today. I could loosen up strangers into telling me their business and posing for me. I learned very quickly how to get people to open up. Most people don't like having their photos taken, but they love to talk about themselves. So I combined the two and the result was lovely! "You ready for your gifts?" Jimmy asked, bringing me back to the present day. The memories faded. The faces of strangers and the lilting voice of an angry Sophia Banks washed away. She shouted something about "wasting money and film on people you don't even know" as she went. He had already brought out three boxes. I buried my face in my hands once more.
"Oh, don't do that, this is your special day. I want you to be happy." The boxes were stacked in his hands, resting innocently as I grinned.
"I know. I've just never had someone make me feel this special before." My face was hot and red. "Well I'm your boyfriend and I want to make you feel special on your special day." He sat next to me on the couch and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. I was glowing at his insistence on our relationship.
"Say that one more time." I insisted.
"What? Boyfriend?" He smirked, looking at me from the corners of his almond eyes. They were glistening with vitality even from the side.
"Yeah."
"I'm your boyfriend."
I scrunched my nose and giggled. He was, wasn't he? My very own. Just mine.
"Go on, open 'em up!" He cried, watching over me as I picked up the first box. I unwrapped it with care, trying my best not to seem eager. I was pleased as punch when I finally pried the top of the gift box off.
Inside was a pair of white loafers with a heart on the back of each shoe. They were sturdy and well made, maybe the best pair of shoes I'd ever had the pleasure of holding. I slipped them on and they fit perfectly. Once again, I felt overwhelm by the simplicity of his care. It wasn't a grand display of cheerful romance but it wasn't underplayed either. It was small but incredibly wonderful.
"These are nice. I've never had shoes this nice. Wow! Thank you." I sat back down and hugged him. I had opened one gift and I was already wrought with emotion. I felt like crying. The second box was smaller and wrapped in turquoise foil. "These are wrapped very nicely. Lovely paper." I commented. He smiled a toothy grin and told me he'd done them himself. He was much better at gift-wrapping than joint rolling.
Inside the box was a beautiful ring. It was gold-banded with a glittering green stone. I slipped it on immediately. It fit on my middle finger snugly.
"Oh my god, you are like the best gift-giver!" "Go on, open the last one."
The final gift was my favorite. It was a painting, a messy landscape of the Thames. There was a scene with a picnic blanket on which two figures were seated. One had flowing red hair and the other had curly black locks. The dark-haired person was playing guitar and the other was listening intently. It was our first date.
"This is beautiful. Jimmy, you're gonna make me cry." I put my face back into my hands and leaned into his shoulder. He was a pillar of mushy emotion. I could practically see the pink love hearts bubbling around us. "I did that myself." He was proud with a smile resting on his face. "You made this? Oh my god, I'm really gonna cry." I put the painting aside and buried my head in his chest. I couldn't keep the tears from coming. After a few escaped the floodgates had opened. I kept my face in his chest for a few minutes, wetting his shirt with my well of flowing emotion. He pets my hair and rocked me side to side, letting me enjoy a peaceful moment where I felt loved. "This is the best birthday I've ever had." I wiped the tears from my face and laughed. I laughed so I wouldn't cry again. I didn't expect such a visceral reaction, but I also didn't expect such lovely gifts. It wasn't the idea of money spent or the gesture of gift-giving, it was the time allotted to the careful search and execution of each present that made emotion well within me. "I'm glad I could make it so good for you. You made my birthday wonderful and I was returning the favor. You're such a lovely person, you deserve it." "I couldn't ask for someone better."
-
He made dinner for us that night. It was a nice spread of pasta and homemade garlic bread, another one of my favorites. It was the same meal he made for our first date. I don't know if that was on purpose, but I loved it either way. Lucy joined us for this meal as well. She cried for attention the whole time we ate. This chorus was a wonderful soundtrack for my birthday meal.
Because he let me pick our activities, we were going on a walk after dinner. I decided a walk would help our food digest and tire me out before bed. The streets of Pangbourne were illuminated wonderfully by the moon and the temperature was nice. It was the perfect night for a stroll.
I allowed Lucy to come with us as well. I had to hold her but it was worth it. She loved going outside. I held her under my arm as we walked, keeping her tight in my grasp even when she squirmed around. I have taken her on walks before but she had a leash then. It was at my apartment with the rest of her things.
"You're so peculiar with that cat. A real witch."
"I think it would be better if she had black fur." I retorted.
"Nonsense! She's perfect just the way she is." He feigned open-mouthed offense.
"Oh, yes, yes, that's true. But I meant I would be more witchy."
"Don't let her hear you. She'll curse you." He covered her little ears. She squirmed again, trying to wriggle herself free from our hands.
"I don't think cats can do that."
"I don't want to find out." His tone was dramatic and he shook his head. He was always acting silly like this, making me laugh.
The smell of a campfire was thick in the air. I imagined a group of people surrounding the glowing pit, a circle of friends and relatives. I hoped it was a time of serenity and memory-making. I was in such high spirits that I wanted to spread that joy, even on a molecular level.
We walked along for a little while longer, just enough time to be refilled by the sweet blowing wind and gaze at the moon. We had gotten our fill of fresh air and made our way back to the house. I wore my new shoes, which were already giving me a blister. I would have to break them in before wearing them out of the house again. They were so lovely that I didn't mind.
It was time for cake now. He was in front of me and it was the most unusual cake I'd ever seen. It didn't have candles, instead incense sticks stuck out of the top. I furrowed my brow and looked at him from across the table.
"Did you not have any candles?"
"No. Now blow them out before the ash drops into the icing."
"There should be twenty-six sticks."
"I didn't have that many."
I couldn't blow them out, obviously, so I just lifted them out of the cake. I sat them aside and made a wish in my head. The wish was for happiness, just as I had thought on Mabon. I knew I would get this wish, for it was already happening. It was Jimmy. He was my happiness.
And happiness had never looked so beautiful. He rested his chin on his hand, looking intently at me as I worked carefully to remove the incense. A soft smile sat upon his features. His hair looked wonderful today, and his eyes were shimmering in the reflection of the kitchen light. I leaned over the cake and kissed him, a special thank-you for all he had done today.
"What was that for?" He asked.
"For being the best boyfriend."
He kissed me, "That's for being the best girlfriend." It was terribly cheesy, a banal display of romance but I didn't care. For once, I was happy with cliche. Life had been endlessly disappointing and out of the norm, I could handle some decorum.
"This is so good!" I sat back in my chair, eyes closed, and savored the sweet taste. It was the best I'd gotten yet. It was a chocolate cake with green frosting. He had listened to me when I told him in passing that I didn't like vanilla. Another small detail he hadn't spared.
We ended the night in bed, where he sang me a soft song, his voice low in my ear. Lucy was cuddled between us and I drifted into a peaceful sleep, feeling more loved than ever. It was certainly the best birthday I'd had yet.

i keep forgetting this is tumblr and i can just share whatever
Have my silly little Spiritfarer as TF2 mercs idea thingy that sprouted simply because i was fixating on both in the same time frame.. I have my who's what, along with my reasonings and whatever else under the cut :)
warning, this is scatterbrained and i also have Not done my research this is all mostly based off of vibes
My brain said i would be limiting to two spirits per class, so it's not completly even since there's not enough spirits to fill both teams. I could use some of the off ship characters too tho... haven't been on that
Anyways, to start off, we have:
Stella as a Scout/Ms. Pauling. I kinda had is as a tie since she seems to fit both? She runs around doing athletic feats, wears a hat, and is a general nuciance to the public (at times). She can also double jump, Irrefutable Evidence right there! I also have a much easier time imagining Stella as a scout than whaterer pauling does lol. Plus she gets called scout by Bruce, which is something i love. For the Pauling Arguement, she is the playable character in the game, so it feels kinda weird to mix her in with the other spirits (for whatever reason). She also, more so, does a lot of things (which is part of the game mechanic but still) for the others, an obligation a scout wouldn't have to meet. Especially for both teams! Also that. She would be interacting with both teams, so it'd be tough as a member of one to peacfully interact with the other. I'm thinking it'd be a change from one role to the other. Either she starts as a Pauling/admin's asisstant/whatever, and then one way or another transfers to a scout, or she starts as a scout on the battlefield and somehow ranks up out of it. I think i like the second idea better, but oh well. I probably won't ever fully flesh this out anyways.
Daffodil is still just Stella's cat, no change there
Gwen is a Spy. She's the whole spark of this idea lol. I just saw her and was like: spy tf2 vibes fr, and here we are. What can i say, she smokes, she's posh, she looks like she could most definately stab you. 10/10. I say she's still Stella's childhood friend.
Atul is a Soldier. He hops. That's not all but that's the main reason. He's a very boisturous fella, and a loud one too!
Summer is a Sniper. I dunno, maybe it's cuz she's a snake and a plant, spirituality person. It works for me. She could totally snipe someone.
Astrid would be a Heavy. Strong, dependable, intelligent. I feel like the role of a heavy fits her greatly.
Alice as an Engineer. No matter where i put here i felt awkward since how could i put a sweet old hedgehog lady onto a battlefield?? This felt like my best bet lol. If anything, she would work as a support class with a lower requirement for mobility.
Gustav is a Medic. Look at him.
Giovanni just feels like a Demo. He's got that brash, lively attitude and a compulsive behaviour to match.
Bruce would be a Scout. He's shown at a hummingbird, small and gone with a flash. He also has the personality for sure.
Mickey could be a Heavy. Strong and silent (at least in-game). Bruce and Mickey would still be brothers, as they should be.
Beverly would also be a Medic. Is it because she's a bird? Honestly, probably! Her personality also meshes well with the medic class
Buck is a Soldier. Not sure where i pulled this one from but he's a soldier.
Stanley is a Pyro. Childish and a big imagination. Because he's a literal child but still.
Jackie would be a Demo. He's got that loud, sharp, self-hating vibe that only a demoman could contain.
Daria as a Sniper. Isolated, spiritual. Plus she's a flying critter and higher grounds are good for sniping. I don't really know what else she'd be. It seems like the best option since a sniping spot would be out of the way of a loud battle.
Elena would be a great fit for The Administrator lol. I almost forgot about her. My leftover roles on the list didn't seem like they would work for her minimalist personality anyways.
There is no personality changes or whatever. Just basically these characters in the spots of the others.
I have a lot less then i thought i did, but that makes sense lol. I've had ideas for drawing them but not the motivation :/ I'm also unsure if it would be better to give the spirits human designs or just leave them as their respective animals. Who knows if i'll work on this more... I just wanted to get this idea out! I might add more stuff later
Here's some of the sketches i did when i was still playing spiritfarer

The Case of the Shattered Window
My youngest daughter was reading some old Encyclopedia Brown books and liked them, but wanted some geared towards girls.
That’s fair. Nancy Drew didn’t hit with her, and also that’s, like, the only girl detective series we could find. I’m sure there’s more. I would hope there’s more.
So, I’ve been working on something in my spare time. I have several done, but here’s the first.
The Case of the Shattered Window
 Nothing much happened in the small town of Billsburg. At least, that’s what the adults would tell you. From the outside, the town seemed completely ordinary. From the hot summers filled with the sounds of children playing in the streets outside and splashing down at the public pool, to the chilly, snow-filled winters that blanketed the roads and cancelled school, Billsburg seemed like the most unimportant, mundane little burg that anyone could ask for.
The children of Billsburg knew otherwise. For you see, living on an unassuming cul-de-sac in a two-story brick home was a trio that had become legends to anyone under the age of eighteen. They were the Frye sisters, and if the town was normal, the Frye sisters were anything but.
Now, that’s not to say that they didn’t behave like ordinary girls. They bickered and fought with each other and went to school and played with their friends like most girls their age. However, when trouble reared its ugly head, you could count on the Frye sisters to take center stage. When a kid in the neighborhood had a problem, the Frye sisters were the ones everyone went to. Each sister had their own special talent, and when they worked together, there was practically nothing they couldn’t accomplish.
The oldest, Lilian, was your standard pretty blonde middle schooler. While at first glance she might have appeared like a wisp of a thing, she was the muscle of the group, and did not put up with her sisters (or anyone else for that matter) getting bullied. Everyone, even the rough and tumble teens of Billsburg knew that it wasn’t worth it to get into it with Lilian. Not unless you wanted a black eye, that is.
The middle Frye sister, Elanor, was known for her ability to persuade anyone to do practically anything. Under her long, messy brown hair was a set of wide eyes and a disarming smile, but those weren’t her biggest weapons. She was a talker, and she knew exactly what to say to get people to do what she wanted. While this concerned her parents to some degree, it had served to help Elanor and her sisters to get into and out of trouble more times than anyone could count.
The youngest, Gwendolyn, was where the trio went from impressive to legendary among the children of Billsburg. The tiny, usually messy redhead could be found digging for worms, playing in leaves, and doing everything she could to get herself dirty when playing, but when a mystery needed to be solved, there were few people out there who could match her sharp, deductive mind. She was the sleuth of the group, and even if it didn’t seem like she was paying attention, you’d better believe that there was nothing that got by her keen gaze.
So, when a child needed help, and when it was the kind of help that adults are unable or unwilling to provide, that child knew that they could turn to the Frye sisters. For a fee, of course. It was Elanor that handled the books, and while all three sisters were happy to lend their services where they could, they admitted it was nice to collect a dollar a job.
One such job arrived on a normal, June day in the form of a sweaty young man standing at the Frye family door. Lilian opened the front screen to reveal Tommy Lawson from one street over. He was covered in grass stains and looked like he was about to cry.
“I need to hire you,” he said as he wiped some sweat from his forehead. Whether it was because they were bored or they had heard him, the other two Frye sisters appeared behind Lilian and took in the sight of their messy neighbor.
“Well, we’re always up for a new job. So, what happened to you?” Elanor asked.
“I was mowing Mrs. Wilkinson’s yard down the street,” Tommy said as he pointed down the lane. “It’s part of my new business.”
“Business?” Elanor perked up. “What business?”
Tommy dug into his pocket and pulled out a business card. It read
TOMMY LAWSON: LANDSCAPE SERVICES
“You’ll get plenty of work in this neighborhood,” said Gwen. “Have you tried Mr. Linkletter down the street? He can’t mow with that bad back of his.”
“I won’t be getting much of any business now,” Tommy sighed. “Not after what happened with Mrs. Wilkinson.”
All three girls asked at once. “What happened?”
“Well,” Tommy started, “I had spoken with Mrs. Wilkinson about handling her yard, and she was fine with it. I charged her ten bucks for the front and back, and she threw in a bottle of pop since it’s so hot out.”
“That’s not too bad,” Lilian said.
“Anyway, I had just gotten done with the front and went around to the back shed to get her gas can to refill her mower when I heard Mrs. Wilkinson shout for me. When I came back around to the front, her bay window was shattered. Mrs. Wilkinson said I must have hit a rock and smashed it, but I didn’t! Her window was fine when I went around back.”
“That’s rough,” Lilian said.
Tommy nodded. “Mrs. Wilkinson told me to go home and that she was going to make my dad pay for the window, but I wasn’t the one who threw the rock.”
“You think someone smashed it on purpose?” Gwen asked.
“I sure do,” Tommy said. “I was back there for a good few minutes. Someone had time to throw a rock and book it out of there, easy.”
“So, who do you think threw the rock?”
“Well,” Tommy said, thinking about it for a moment. “Mrs. Wilkinson told me I could mow her yard because the other kid she hired was doing an awful job. I think she’s the one who smashed the window.”
“She?” Elanor asked.
“Yeah,” Tommy said. “Sally Parker.”
“Parker,” Lilian growled. She cracked her knuckles as her face darkened with anger. “Well, that explains everything.”
Sally Parker was known by most parents in the neighborhood as the most perfect little angel this side of Heaven. The local children, however, knew her to be quite the devil in disguise. Anytime there was mischief, you could bet your last penny that Sally Parker had something to do with it.
Lilian started marching past Tommy to go give Sally a talking to, but Gwen grabbed her arm. “Wait. We can’t just go over there and beat her up, Lils.”
“Oh yeah? Watch me.” Lilian pulled her arm free and started walking again.
“We need proof that Sally broke the window,” Gwen said. “If we can get that, then Tommy’s dad won’t have to pay for the damage and Tommy won’t lose a customer.”
Lilian thought about this and then put her hands in her pockets. “Fine,” she grumbled.
“Speaking of clients,” Elanor said with a smile as she scooted in front of Tommy. “We would be happy to take your case, provided you can pay?”
Tommy nodded. “If we can prove Sally did it, then Mrs. Wilkinson will pay me, and then I can pay you. Does that work?”
Elanor sighed. “Yeah. Gotta admit, this feels a lot like a charity case…”
“Oh, stuff it, Lanes. Tommy’s a friend,” Gwen said. “Come on, Tommy. Let’s go talk to Sally and get to the bottom of this.”
Sally lived several streets over in a tidy house with light blue siding. Gwen knocked on the door while the others stood close behind.
After a few moments, the door opened and there stood Sally Parker. She was tall, as in a full head taller than even Lilian. She towered over the group and sneered at them with her hands on her hips. She also had curly black hair that she wore short. Gwen suspected it was because Sally thought it made her look mature. Sally claimed that she had gone through a growth spurt, but a lot of the neighborhood kids suspected she had just been held back a year.
“Well, well, look who it is,” Sally said in a voice that was both sweet and sarcastic all at once. “The three little pigs and the big bad doof. What do you losers want?”
“You know why we’re here!” Tommy said angrily. He started to advance, but Lilian put her hand on his shoulder. She was itching to give Sally a piece of her mind for a number of reasons, but at the moment, this was Gwen’s show.
“No, I really don’t,” Sally said with a bored expression. “I’m honestly surprised to see you here. I haven’t even been out today.”
“Really?” Gwen asked. “Tommy here thinks you smashed Mrs. Wilkinson’s window earlier while he was helping her out. Do you know anything about that?”
“Excuse me?” Sally asked in an irritated tone. “You wanna accuse me of something, jerk?” She balled her hand into a fist and made to move on Tommy, but one look from Lilian made her stop. Lilian was the only kid in the neighborhood who had ever stood up to Sally. It had been a disagreement the summer before about a bike; Lilian had bought it with her chore money and Sally decided it belonged to her, instead. One quick punch from Lilian put the matter, and Sally, down for good.
“Were you at Mrs. Wilkinson’s earlier today?” Gwen asked.
“I told you,” Sally huffed. “I was inside all day. I couldn’t have seen this loser mowing her lawn; I was busy watching TV. There’s a reality show marathon about tiny houses and I’ve been positively glued to it. Go bug someone else, jerks.”
Sally stood aside to prove her point. Behind her was the living room, and on the television was a show focusing on what appeared to be very small homes.
“Huh,” Tommy said. “I could have sworn that it was her.”
Elanor patted Tommy on the shoulder as Sally started to close her door, but before she could, Gwen put her foot out and blocked her. “Before you go back to your show,” Gwen said, “I was curious, is you mom home?”
“What do you wanna know that for?” Sally asked.
“Well,” Gwen said, “it’s like this. You’re either going to come with us and admit to Mrs. Wilkinson that you smashed her window to make Tommy look bad so she would hire you back, or we tell your mother you not only smashed the window, but tried to lie your way out of it. Now, which is it going to be?”
 HOW DID GWEN KNOW SALLY WAS LYING?
   Solution to the case of the Shattered Window
Sally claimed that she had been inside all day watching television and that she couldn’t have been anywhere near Tommy or Mrs. Wilkinson’s house, but if that was the case, how did she know Tommy was mowing her yard? All Gwen had ever said was that Tommy was helping Mrs. Wilkinson, she never said how he was doing it. Once Gwen pointed this out to Sally, Sally confessed that she had thrown the rock to make Tommy look incompetent as a mower. Sally then admitted everything to Mrs. Wilkinson and paid for a new window out of her savings.

Though he didn't know it yet Chris Mclean was in for a shocking revelation. One of the campers is not exactly just some rando kid. This camper is his kid and she is out to expose it.
Name : Iris  Escalona
Age 16
Eye color green
Caramel skin
Black hair that she keeps in a high ponytail. A Cherokee rose on the left side of the hair tie.
Iris is 5ft 8",135lb
Out fit-White tanktop with the alchemists symbol blue acid washed jean shorts black converses
Iris has a dark sense of humor. She loves horror,pranks,is resourceful. Iris is not above smashing some skulls together. She is not quick to anger but Heather pushes a lot of her buttons.
All her life she just wanted Chris to know she was alive. Her mother never gave the reason why she left. She is the oldest of seven children.
________chapter 3_________
• Chris: Last time on Total Drama Island, twenty-three campers arrived and learned that they'll be spending the next eight weeks at the crusty old summer camp. The campers we're faced with their first challenge, jumping off a cliff into the shark-infested waters. While most campers took the plunge, a few were forced to wear the dreaded chicken hat. At the campfire ceremony, it all came down to two campers, Courtney has experience as a CIT in summer camp, but refused to jump, and Ezekiel managed to tick off every female at the camp with his sexist comments about women, in the end, the first camper voted off Total Drama Island was Ezekiel, proving that homeschooling and reality TV don't mix, who will be voted off this week in this dramatic campfire ceremony yet? Find out tonight on Total... Drama...Island.
Iris woke up early and snuck into the kitchen.
It looked a mess it was four in the morning so she needed something to do.
(Confessionals)
Iris looked into the camra
"Ok so ever since I was ten I wake up at four in the morning. Some nights I don't even sleep. Doctors can't figure out why but hey at least I can do something before the challenge starts."
*Static*
(End of Confessionals)
Iris was almost done cleaning when Chef walked in. "And what are you doing up?" Chef said crossing his arms. "Sorry Chef woke up at four and couldn't go back to sleep. I decided to clean the kitchen to help you out. If you need help cooking I can do that too." She said still scrubbing. "Awe thats real nice of you sweetpea. But I can take it from here go get washed up. The mess hall looks great. " Iris stood up saluting him. He did the same to her and she went to the showers.
(Confessionals)
Chef
That girl is a sweetheart. I haven't met a kid who would just clean without being asked. Her parents raised her right she will make a man happy one day.
*static *
(End of Confessionals)
Iris walked into the mess hall. Chef had a cup of coffe ready for her. "Here you go sweetie thanks again for cleaning the place up." He said making her bluch. "No problem if you need any help you can always ask."  She said sitting down. "Why did you clean this dump?! You never do anything nice." Courtney came over before Iris could take on sip of her ainti murder juice. Holding up one finger Iris took a drink. "Ok child now that I had a caffeine shot I can speak. I wake up a four am every day. Why I do not know I just do. Some nights I don't even sleep. As for doing something nice goes. Unlike you I was raised to help someone when I physically can. You were shelter from the world thats why your a spoild brat.  Do you want me to spill what it was you did to my brother, or are you going to sit back down like a good girl?" Iris was now glaring at the pampered princess. Courtney like any other teenage girl that doesn't get her way, stomped away with a "Ahh!"  I waved her finger at the child.
Chris walked in "alright campers time for your challenge. Both teams will complete one lap around the Island. The team that completes the race first wins. "  Trent asked about breakfast. "Oh you will eat after the race. Ready set go!" He laughed as everyone ran.
Iris pov
It was a nice warm up but ,I doubt that this is the actual challenge.  When we made it back to the mess hall a buffet was waiting for us. It was so beautiful I wanted to cry. Though something sinister is happening here. This is a set up so I'm not going to eat to much. I saw cranberries the kind you get on Thanksgiving and chowd down. It was refreshing everyone else asked why I wasn't eating anything but Cranberries. "Think about it why would they give us this food. It's a plot for the challenge. Trust me I want to chow down with all of you." I said making them shrug and go back to eating. Courtney was glaring at me. I think about it the guy that asked me the question was Duncan.
(Confessionals)
Iris started laughing.
"Oh she is a treat I will thoroughly enjoy this."
*Static*
(End of Confessionals)
"Hey Duncan can you step outside with me? This won't take long." I said standing up. He shrugged and followed me outside. Once we were out of ear shot I turned to him.
Meanwhile in the mess hall.
Courtney pov
"They have been gone for awhile. I'll go check on them." I said having campers telimg me to leave them be. Iris is a conveying snake you can't ever trust her.
"Hey guys what are yo-Ah!" I walked out to find them making out. I march up to them and pull him away getting in her face. She smirks at me. "Hello Courtney how can I help you?" She chuckles "You can help me by not macking on my teammate you snake." I growled
(Confessionals Duncan, Iris)
Duncan
"If she is a snake and thats her bite. Please bite me some more."
*static*
Iris
"*laughs* oh wow I was right she likes him. This is going to be a fun day for Duncan and me. He is on board with the plan. Obviously he is enjoying this too. *smirks* bey bey second place Courtney"
*Static*
Iris pov
Duncan stood between myself and Courtney crossing his arms. "I think you should run inside. You don't own me there four have no say in my actions." He said wrapping one arm around me. I place my hand on his chest the top of my head under his chin. I was side glancing at her. She growled stomping away. Once she was gone we bust out laughing.  He picked me up bridal style carrying me inside. "This is mine no one else can have her." He said sitting me down at my seat we started to feed each other. "Can you two get a room?" Heather complained. "Can you get a new attitude." I said making her gasp.
Once the buffet was cleared Chris came back in. "Everyone ready for the awake athon!" I knew it and they say I'm a snake. "Wait so you had us eat all this food so you can see who will fall asleep first?" Gwen asked "Yes Gwen Yes I did" I laughed "oh that so evil its good."  I said "Glad your finding this amusing lose lips" Courtney said  "Hey they are open for you too." I wink at her. "Your disgusting " she said following Chris to the pit fire. I sat in Duncan's lap during the challenge to get on princess sunshine's nerves. Its almost night fall I'm about to fall asleep. Duncan puts his hand on my cheek "got to stay awake gorgeous. How can I look into those beautiful eyes if they are closed?" I giggle at the sickeningly sweetness. "Let her fall asleep at least I won't be second place. " Courtney said  laughing "oh your second place in everything so shut up. " I said before glares at her.
Its now been twent-four hour mark. Come on stupid bass fall asleep. I thought to myself. It was now Myself, Trent,and Gwen for the Gophers and the Bass only had Courtney and Duncan.  Once Chris started to read the history of Canada Courtney, and Trent fell asleep.  Leaving Gwen, Duncan and me. "I have to hit the can" Duncan said as the camra crew followed him. Gwen fell asleep I was about to when Chris announced that the Gophers won. I smile before falling flat on my face.
• [The Killer Bass are standing outside of the cabins, stuff are outside due to Eva throwing them because she can't find her MP3 because Heather stole it.]
• Eva: [screaming angrily] Where is my MP3 player?! One of you must stolen it, I need my music! No one is going anywhere until I get my MP3 player back! [She angrily throws a book, which almost hits Harold]
• Courtney: Okay, whoever took it better give it up now before she destroys the whole camp.
• Heather: Hey, guys, wow, this place is a real mess.
• Courtney: Someone stole Eva's MP3 player.
• Heather: [holds Eva's MP3 player] Who don't mean this to you? [Eva is surprised that Heather found her MP3 player, which Heather actually stole it] I was wondering who it belonged to, I found it by the campfire pit. You must have dropped it.
• Eva: Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!
• Heather: Sure thing. [Leaves. Static buzzing, in the confessional] Turn a team against their own members, easiest trick in the book. (Static buzzing)
• Eva: [smiles sheepishly] So, sorry about the that little misunderstanding. [The Killer Bass glare at Eva] Guess no one stole it after all. Okay, maybe I overreacted a little. [Laughs sheepishly]
Iris and the Gophers watch the marshmallow ceremony of the Killer Bass. It was down to Alpha geek Harold and wack Job Eva. Both looked nervous until Chris gave it to Harold. Wow did not see that one coming. They threw away their strongest team mate. Welp looks like the Gophers have it even easier now.
Chris "you All can get some sleep tonight you all are safe for now. Find out what happens next time on Total Drama Island."
(Have I mention how much I don't like Courtney yet. Well I don't have a great day/evening)

Now That I Saw You
If you can believe it, this was not supposed to be this long. I don’t think I’ve ever said that about anything I’ve written, so I can tell that you’re all surprised. :/
But I was pleasantly surprised by this little fic. I didn’t remember writing it, but I just went back to read it, and I kind of love it. I currently have very vague and far off plans for a part two. If it works out how I want it to, it’ll be out sometime in December for a nice Christmasy feel.
WC: 3k
ff.net | AO3
James had been at least 73% annoyed and frustrated since Lily had declared that it was probably time that they ended this fake relationship that they had toted around all summer.
It had been good for the both of them, having a partner to attend events with, having someone who was equally as appealing to the gossip mags and high society bloggers. All they had to do was hold hands and laugh in a public space and their faces would get splashed all over the internet and page six.
But the season was over, and the only thing that could get them anymore publicity at this point, was to break up in public. A nice big fight, something vague that didn’t spread the blame to unevenly on one person or the other. They were both going to have to walk away looking sympathetic, which wasn’t always easy, but they had sat down and come up with a pretty solid plan. There would be no ‘other person’ there would be no backstabbing or need for revenge. It would be a nice clean break where they angrily fell out of love.
It was a good plan.
James had told Lily that he thought it was a good plan when they’d finished with it. But then she’d hugged him goodbye before getting into her town car and he felt like kicking the fire hydrant.
Sirius was annoyed with him for being so annoyed, Peter had taken to leaving the room whenever James came in and Remus had just avoided coming over at all these last few days. He might have had a valid reason, but James was 73% annoyed and frustrated and so he couldn’t think of one. He just thought his friends were being arseholes.
The day that they were meant to break up was the last big party of the season, Labor Day weekend. And after that, everyone was going to fly back to their country homes where the new season would begin, with new people and new events and no Lily.
He wasn’t completely thick, he knew that he was as annoyed and frustrated as he was, because he didn’t want to say goodbye to Lily. She’d grown on him over the course of the summer, her and her endearing snorty laughter and argumentative nature and she always told the most ridiculous jokes that she laughed at just as much as anyone else did. She was kind and outspoken and full of life and he didn’t want to pretend to break up with her, because he wanted to be dating her for real.
So he wasn’t completely thick, because he knew all of that. But he was a little thick, because he hadn’t done anything about it.
No, he hadn’t done the only obvious thing that one should do in this situation.
He hadn’t told Lily.
And while the thought of telling her that he harbored actual feelings for her was utterly mortifying, he knew that he should for two reasons.
The first, being that he was going mad not telling her. It was really draining to sit on these feelings while pretending to have fake romantic feelings for her in public and then pretending to have only friendly feelings toward her in private.
And the second reason being, because he had nothing to lose. If she didn’t have feelings for him, then they would part ways same as if he had said nothing. Nothing harmed but his ego. And perhaps his own feelings, but being brave in the face of one’s heart was necessary on occasion.
And Lily wasn’t thick either. While she did seem completely oblivious to his feelings, she was not oblivious to the cooler side he’d taken with her, or his snappish remarks. He was no longer his cheerful self around her, and she was getting annoyed with him too.
“Look,” She’d said when they were having lunch last week at her place. They were at her place instead of out and about because it was just as good for their story to have people see him coming and going from her apartment. He’d even spent a few nights on her couch so that he could be seen leaving her place early in the morning. She’d stay out in the living room with him, bowls of junk food passed between them as they watched trashy reality tv and laughed about how they were fooling the world.
“I don’t know if I did something to offend you, but you don’t need to treat me like this. If you want to act all annoyed in public, that’s one thing, it’ll make people speculate that we’re about to end things, but no one else is here right now James,” She motioned to her empty dining room. “It’s just you and me. So cut it out, or leave.”
He left.
The next time they had seen each other, Lily was as equally annoyed as he was, and they ended up arguing over where they should go to dinner in front of a well-hidden blogger. News of their bickering spread rapidly over the next couple of days, which only annoyed Lily more, even though she’d said that she would be alright with them getting caught bickering in public.
It became a game of escalation. He’d push her buttons and she’d rip out his circuit breaker. She’d rip the tablecloth off the table and he’d go for the rug under her feet.
And that’s where they were when they arrived at the end of season Labor Day party. Spitting mad and itching to fight.
She looked absolutely stunning in her white sundress, but he would be loathed to tell her that now. Her hair was half up and she hadn’t straightened it, so she looked like she belonged here on this beach. Perhaps at any moment she would transform into a mermaid and just jump into the sea.
But again, there would be no compliments from him tonight.
He walked along next to her, trying not to pout as she appeared to float. He tried to exchange pleasantries with the people who greeted him, and he tried to keep a smile on his face.
“Would you stop that,” Lily elbowed him as she led them both over to the drink table. “You look like you’ve been kicked.”
“Elbowed, not kicked,” He said, rubbing the spot on his arm where her elbow had hit him.
“Honestly, James,” She shook her head. “I don’t know what’s come over you, but you’ve been acting like a child for weeks now. Today is the last day, alright? After this you’ll never have to see me again.”
The way she said it made his blood boil. Like disappearing from his life was a fucking favor that he asked for. Like she didn’t care one way or the other. Like this was what he wanted.
If he was calmer, he would have realized that she had every reason to think that this was what he wanted, he had been acting like a child for a couple of weeks now. If he had just been honest with her from the beginning, then there would be no need for all of this arguing and fighting and frustration.
If he had been honest, he wouldn’t have dug himself into the hole he was in now.
He stood up straighter and walked over to the bar, ordering a rum and coke, downing the entire thing without leaving the bar and then ordering a second, and a dry martini for Lily. He picked up both drinks and went off to find her.
She was seated on a white couch on the edge of the deck laughing at something Marlene McKinnon was saying. James forced himself to smile and took a seat next to Lily, “Darling,” He said quietly, holding out the drink.
“Thank you, love,” She said, and he could see the look in her eye letting him know that she thought she had won something. She thought that he was going to behave now because she had scolded him.
That didn’t sit right with him either.
And perhaps that’s when he decided that he wasn’t going to break up with her today. No, if she wanted to end things with him, then he would make it as difficult for her as he could. She wouldn’t be walking away looking very sympathetic.
The party carried on and James felt himself start to relax now that he had a plan that would throw Lily for a loop. Perhaps it wasn’t fair of him, but the more rum and coke he drank, the more he thought it was entirely fair of him.
He asked her to dance when the music came on, he kept bringing her drinks and sweets, he kept reaching for her hand or putting an arm around her. And all the while, he could see her getting more and more confused. They were supposed to be building up to a breakup and James was acting more in love with her than he had at any point in the last two weeks.
“I’m glad you got rid of the bug that was living in your arse,” She whispered as he leaned over to kiss her temple. “But you’re laying it on a bit thick now, don’t you think?”
He laughed as though she’d just said something teasing and cute and pulled back, “There’s just no pleasing you, is there?”
“Don’t be a dick, James,” She said, her smile not slipping in the slightest.
He pressed his lips together and tossed back the rest of his drink. “Right, my sincerest apologies.”
“You two are just too cute!” Dorcas Meadows walked up to them with Gwen and Hestia Jones on her heels. “Power couple of the season, right girls?”
“Oh yes,” They both twittered, and James wanted to know if these girls knew that his and Lily’s relationship was as fake as their smiles were. Was anyone actually in love in the Hamptons or was it all just for show?
“I can’t believe her,” Lily huffed, seeing right through Dorcas’ fake compliments. “She’s only mad because the charity ball that we hosted raised more money than hers did. She might have raised more if she had chosen a real charity though,” Lily finished off her drink as well and then set down the glass.
“Right,” James nodded. “Didn’t she want to start a fund to make fur coats for hairless cats too? She’s ridiculous, Lily. Same as nearly everyone else here.”
Lily looked at him, holding back a laugh. He could tell because her eyes got wide for just a moment and her lips were pressed firmly together. She cleared her throat. “I forgot about the hairless cats.” She said, slowly nodding her head. He felt like kicking himself. How had things gotten so bad between them? She didn’t even feel like she could laugh in front of him anymore.
“Alright, let’s get this show on the road before people start leaving,” She said, pushing herself off the railing they were leaning on. “We’ll go over near the band where more people will see us, but fewer people will be able to hear what we’re saying.”
“I don’t think we should go near the band,” James said, shaking his head. “We should probably go to the middle of the room. That’s where-“
“No, people would be listening too closely if we were in the middle of the room.” She cut him off as she looked around the room.
“We could just start arguing here.” He said, but he was fairly sure that she wasn’t listening to him. He reached over and took her hand. She turned to look at her. “We had a good summer, yeah? These last couple of weeks not withstanding?”
She narrowed her brows at him. “We were having a great summer until you decided to be an arse.”
“I don’t think I was the only one who decided to be an arse.” She had kicked him out of her house instead of asking him what was wrong. Or at least, that’s how he was choosing to remember it.
“Gee, thanks, James. I’m going to remember you so fondly.” She squeezed his hand a bit harder than necessary and then started to lead him across the deck, toward the band. James had been planning for them to be in the middle of the room, but he supposed the band would do just as well.
He plastered a love drunk smile on his face and let her lead him through the crowd. When they reached the band, she rounded on him with a look on her face that was a perfect blend of angry and heart broken. James felt his breath get caught in his throat. He squeezed her hand and stepped closer, reaching up and cupping her face. “I’ve decided that I don’t want to do this.” He said quietly. “I don’t care about the publicity or what people think, I don’t want to do this.”
She narrowed her brow and shook her head. “No, you promised. We’ve known all season that this is how this would end, James. I’ve no qualms about making you the bad guy here if you refuse to play along.”
“Fine,” He sighed. “You want to create a spectacle? You want to give them all something to talk about for the off season? Then that’s what we’ll do.” He let go of her and took a step back, looking her over for a minute as he steeled himself for what he was about to do. He watched her clench her fists at her sides and he grinned at her before turning toward the band and stepping up onto the stage.
“James?” He heard her warning tone but ignored it.
“I’m so sorry,” He said to the band as they petered off in their playing, giving him looks of confusion. “Do you mind if I borrow this for a moment?” He asked, pointing at the microphone. They looked at each other and then one of them shrugged and motioned for him to go ahead.
By the time he stepped up to the microphone, most of the room was already quiet. They had seen him step up, they had noticed the music stop, and now they were all looking at him expectantly, excitedly.
“Good evening everyone,” He said, hearing his heart pounding in his ears. He was about 99% frustrated and annoyed now. And it was all Lily’s fault. She had her plans and she wouldn’t listen to him, so if he had to hijack things to get a word in, that that’s what he would do. “I promise not to steal too much of your evening, but I have a few things that I’d like to say, and since you have all been with Lily and I throughout the summer, I wanted you all to be a part of this,”
There was a collective intake of breath as some of the party goers started to speculate about what he was going to say. James chanced a look at Lily, and while her arms were crossed over her chest, she had managed to wipe all emotion from her face entirely.
“Lily and I have grown up in your company, you’ve all been with us for so long. And this summer you got to see us fall in love. We’d always ran on the outside of the same circle before this summer, and so while I’ve always noticed how beautiful she was, it had been from afar. And then our good friend, Remus,” He found Remus in the crowd, he was standing near the back of the deck with Peter and Sirius and nodded at him, looking entirely gob smacked. “Remus had the good sense to get the two of us in the same room and the rest is history.” He looked at Lily again, his smile growing as he noticed her cheeks were staining red. Perhaps she still hadn’t figured out where he was going, perhaps she thought he might have opted for an extra public break up.
He debated for just a moment if that’s what he should do instead. But then he pressed on. “Finding Lily has been the greatest joy in my life thus far. Learning what will make her laugh and what will make her scoff, taking the time to memorize her favorite foods, drinks, candies, shoes,” He paused to allow the room to laugh, which they did. “It’s all been an adventure that I wouldn’t trade for anything.” Now he turned to Lily.
“My darling,” He let his hand jump up to his hair now, it’s where it wanted to be, and it made everything seem more authentic. “I don’t want this summer to end. I know that we have only been dating for a few short months, but I have never been more certain about anything than I am about you.” He had no idea where he was pulling all this bullshite from, but he kept on going. “From the first time we danced, I knew that I wanted to hold you in my arms for the rest of my life. From the first time we kissed, I knew that you were it for me. Will you join me up on stage for a moment?” He reached out a hand and was almost shocked to find that she looked to be on the verge of tears as she reached out to take his hand.
She stepped up onto the stage and kept her hand in his. “Lillian Jane Evans,” He kept his eyes locked on hers while he made sure that his voice still projected throughout the venue. “Will you marry me?”
The resounding gasp of excitement throughout the room was almost enough to drown out Sirius’ bewildered exclamation of quite the expletive.
Lily, pro that she was, waited until the crowd had gone quiet again before she answered. She started nodding, letting some of the tears spill over onto her cheeks. “Yes,” She said, reaching up her free hand to wipe at the tears. “Yes, James, of course I will.” And then she threw her arms around his neck.
James felt a bit dumbstruck now. She wasn’t supposed to say ‘yes.’
“You’re going to regret this,” Lily whispered in his ear. “I’m going to make damn well sure that you regret this.” And then she pulled back, beaming at him and James felt the threat all the way in his bones.
What the bloody hell had he gotten himself into?

Review (kind of) of Panicked Room
SPOILERS ALONG THE WAY (You knew that)
TIMESTAMPS ALONG THE WAY (A lot of them)
Ooh! Are we finally gonna kill Cameron- I mean nothing! :D ~ (0:43) Ah, David, still using stereotypes, I see.
~
Wait, THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN THIS IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE!? We’ve never heard about this shit ever!  ~
*Trips over skip button* WHOOPS! :D *clonk* ~ (2:16) Did Penelope get a new voice actor? I feel she might’ve.
~
Tumblr media
What. The Fuck. What the literal gosh darn, hecking fuck.
~
(3:18) I am so surprised that Cam uses AOL as an email- Oh wait, no I’m not! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ~
Tumblr media
I want you to all take a look at this. Thank you. Now, as we were- ~ (4:04) How is this man different from the children? He isn’t, plain and simple. ~ (4:21) This is what I mean. Exactly what I mean. ~
This woman just fucking sliced off the top of a wine bottle with the sword and is now drinking from the super sharp edges. First of all, OW! Second of all, Ms. Priss is a fucking boss. ~ Good to know Cam knows his animals.  ~ (5:38) She just said that. (⊙_⊙;) MS. FUCKING PRISS IS A SAVAGE EX I CAN’T- ~ eW, THEY’RE LIKE 80, GROSS COOTIES! (This- This was a joke. Just making sure-) ~
(6:20) Why am I not surprised? David, you sweet summer child XD ~
Tumblr media
She looks legitimately hurt and embarrassed, why RoosterTeeth why- ~ (7:18) Ooh, he poked a bear. He’s going to get eaten alive soon. ~
(7:30) Does she regret the years spent with Cameron or does she regret the 17 years they spent feuding over their “break?” Oh, wait, she’s talking about how they’re wasting time on getting out- I’m a fucking moron, aren’t I?
~ His day calendar says 1998-2018, so that would be- about 7,669 pictures of boobs in one, little calendar. 7,669 women gave consent (I hope) to be in that book of boobs- I mean, bikini babes. *cough* ~
Tumblr media
Cameron Campbell blushing. Just- Why...? =.= When I said he was like the kids, I didn’t mean this. =~= And I need to get this the fuck outta my screenshots as quick as possible- ~ (8:06 - 8:42) Damn. They’re just- Spilling. But they’re old now, and they can’t go back on what happened. And I feel bad. He left her, but he didn’t mean to leave her so hurt, and she took it badly, I just- ~
Tumblr media
They’re so damn YOUNG. David and Gwen’s age, I bet. They look so happy, and what is with Campbell’s eyes? They’re so SMALL. He kinda looks like a robot- Dammit, off-topic. But anyway, they look like they could’ve worked out. I feel sad because maybe Cam wouldn’t have been such an asshole if Priss and him had talked out their problems earlier. ~
(9:56) Ooh that, why does that sting me? ~ They’re gossiping over how much their campers suck, wow. XD ~ (11:25) Oh no. OH NO OH NO OH NO HO HO NO!! ~
Max and David know what's going on in there. Neither of them look pleased. I sure as hell wouldn’t be. *shudders* ~
Tumblr media
DAVID, NO- WHY WOULD YOU LOOK IN THERE?! ALSO, I DIDN’T MEAN “EATEN ALIVE” LIKE THAT EPISODE!!! ~
Good episode. I’m not a total fan of either of the two, for reasons, but this was a nice change of pace for them. I don’t know why they pulled that rivalry out of their ass, but I’ll let it slide. For now. David is such a nice boy, although he can still be culturally ignorant. Gwen, why are you getting excited about two old people fucking. And why would you let David watch it? Anyway, next episode is going to be a trainwreck (not saying it’ll be bad) or a godsend, and I can’t wait! Goodbye!
