I titled this fic “Dad squad Sad squad” lol. Anyways, I’m not the best at writing but I can’t stop thinking about these three. They mean a lot. Based after that one ask you answered about Rusl having a breakdown. It’s not a detailed breakdown but he’s having a rough time regardless.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Rusl stared blankly at the lake in front of him, watching the sun slowly disappear behind the mountains. It was quiet, save for the trees blowing in the wind and his friends working on a fire. He was supposed to find fish in the lake for Abel to make something for dinner, yet, despite the empty feeling in his stomach, Rusl couldn’t bring himself to catch fish. Fishing was something he did with his sons whenever he got the chance, and with the sun setting and him being alone, the pain lingering in his heart since the beginning of this adventure started to overwhelm him
He was so worried about his dear son. He was ashamed of himself for not protecting him when those red men attacked. From what Abel told him, the red strangers were dangerous, and wanted nothing more but for the calamity to return. Seeing Abel’s Hyrule, Rusl could understand how devastating a calamity’s return would be. And it only made him more worried for Link.
He clutched the fishing rod in his hands, looking over to his side where Link would normally sit when they sat at the Faron spring. They used to sit and talk for the short time they had before they had to head back home. They don’t have those talks much anymore, and a horrifying thought entered his mind, that he’d never have those talks with Link ever again if he’s unable to save him.
He took in a shaky breath and hunched forward, feeling the tears coming to his eyes. He’s been trying to be strong and optimistic for his friend’s sake, but he couldn’t keep that up anymore. Paralyzing fear overwhelmed him for his son’s life, and for a while, he just sat there crying.
He didn’t know how much time had passed, but the sun was well behind the mountains now. He sniffed and wiped the tears from his eyes, starting to calm down just enough for him to hear movement behind him. He spun around and saw the Fierce Deity slouched over near him, his hand hovering inches above Rusl’s back. Abel was behind the war god, reaching for the hand. He looked at Rusl and pulled back, scratching the back of his head.
“I-I’m sorry Rusl,” Abel said rather awkwardly, “he—we— just wanted to make sure you were alright.”
“I was just about to console you,” the Fierce Deity said, his hand not moving.
“I told him not to do it this way though,” Abel muttered, glaring at the war god.
Rusl stared at them bewildered, and almost let out a laugh. He wiped the remaining tears from his eyes and forced a smile.
“Thank you, I’m alright though… I uh… don’t need a pat on the back.”
The Fierce Deity nodded and lowered his hand, standing to his full height.
“So, you are no longer in need of consolation?” The war god asked, looking at Abel for help. The tired man only shrugged.
“I-I’ll be fine, thank you, really.” Rusl gave a more genuine smile.
The war god nodded again and turned around, “I was able to find a deer in the forest, we’ll have that for dinner,” he stated.
“So you don’t have to worry about catching any fish, alright?” Abel said softly.
Rusl stared at them for a moment, feeling guilty that he didn’t do what he was supposed to do.
“I’m sorry—“
Abel raised his hand to stop him. “It’s fine Rusl. There’s not a lot of fish here anyways.”
Abel looked at the fierce deity and gestured towards the fire with his head. The war god nodded and gave Rusl a small smile before walking towards the fire they built. Rusl smiled back and turned to look at the lake again, the anxiety returning to him. But before it could overwhelm him again, he felt a gentle hand rest on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Abel staring at him with a sad expression. The look of understanding was in his eyes, and he gave Rusl a nod. Though he didn’t speak any words, Rusl knew that Abel was determined to save their sons, and a sliver of hope shone through the darkness lingering in his chest. Rusl nodded back and patted the hand on his shoulder gratefully. Abel smiled slightly before turning around and joining the war god, who was watching them curiously. Rusl watched them for a moment as they began to prepare the meal, and he felt alone again. He looked up at the stars, beginning to shine among the dark sky.
Spirits… goddesses… anyone from this world… Rusl prayed silently, his hand clutching his chest, please, please keep our sons safe, please let them return to us. Please have Link and I return home safely…
He’s Turned into a Kid Part 3
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Part 1 Part 2
Part three will include Twilight, Warrior and Hyrule.
Content under the cut!
Twilight
The small boy looked around quietly. He was so much smaller than you thought he would be. Curiously, he walked around everyone, taking in what everyone was wearing and what they looked like.
With enough time, of him checking everyone out and everyone staring at him, he reached up and gently ran his fingertips over his ears. “You look like me.”
He then smiles from cheek to cheek, looking so innocently happy. “No one looks like me in my village!”
Oh your heart, you kneel down. He’s taller than you this way, but you don’t mind. You doubt he does either. “Well hello there, young man. Traveling our way?”
Twilight tilts his head, looking around himself one more. You can see the way his demeanor shifts when he sees that he’s not anywhere that he recognizes. “Uh-oh...”
“What?”
“I’ve never been this far away from home before.” He clutches his arm before he turns to you, tugging on your shirt. “Hey. Are we close to Castle Town? Rusl used to go there from time to time. He might be there.”
“Wouldn’t it be easier to just take you straight home?” Hyrule mutters. He’s quickly elbowed by Legend and with good reason.
You’re not even in his era. You wouldn’t know how to help him get back to his village to begin with. But you can get to Castle Town from here no problem. And maybe Zelda would be able to help get Twilight back to normal. Otherwise, this might get very messy very quickly.
You hummed. “Well, what if he’s not in Castle Town? Then what would you do?”
It seems like a dumb questions, but part of you wants to be prepared for that very real possibility (certainty) when you get there.
Twilight didn’t seem to consider that. “Well, then I can take the road like he does. He says that it’s a three day trip from Castle Town to our village. So I would take me a while to get back... but I think I can do it on my own.”
“Have you done it on your own before?” You stand because your knees are starting to hurt from being in that position for so long.
“Well... no...” He looks un certain again.
You nod, sticking out your hand. He takes it without hesitation. “Well let’s try to get to Castle Town first. We need to talk to some people there anyway.”
“We do?” Wild looks around for confirmation from the others.
“Yes, Wild, we do.” You try to stress the words so he can get the hint across. “There’s a little problem that we need to see of the Princess can fix because she’s really good at magic. Right guys?”
“Right.”
“Of course.”
“Naturally. We were already on the way there.”
“See?” You turn back to Twilight. He looks calmer now and he even starts to swing your hand back and forth. “We’ll help you out, ok?”
“Ok!” He smiles back, humming a small tune to himself before he changes his direction with a little skip .”Let’s go!”
You giggle, letting yourself b puled forward as he charges. “Easy! Hey, hold on!”
“This is going to be so much fun! I’ve never been on an adventure before.”
“Well hopefully this is a nice one.” You smile. He was a cute kid.
Warrior
“I’m not supposed to talk to strangers.” Warrior wrings his hands in front of himself, toeing the ground shyly.
Everyone stands frozen at the sight of him.
He’s hardly at the height of your hip and he can’t be any older than seven years old. He’s adorable. It’s not fair.
Warrior shuffles nervously on the spot. He knows that everyone is looking at him. He looks around for a moment before he shyly tugs on your shirt. “Where’s my mama? Have you seen her? She’s really pretty and tall and wears a lot of red.”
You gulp and kneel down to meet his height. “No, I haven’t, honey. Sorry.”
You can see his lip wobble before you put your hands on his shoulders. You smooth down his shirt and brush away the tears that have yet to fall. “Don’t cry. We’ll find her. Don’t worry.”
“She’s probably looking for me.” He tightens his hold on his shirt. “I’m going to get in trouble.”
“No. No, no, no, no, no-” You brush him down a bit more, fussing over him. “We’ll find her and explain to her what happened, ok? You won’t get in trouble. We’ll all friends here so we’ll look after you, ok? We’ll help you.”
“Promise?” He looks up to you with wide, wet eyes and your heart aches.
“I promise.”
“A heartbreaker before he even knows what that means.” Twilight shakes his head. “Using his looks to get something his way.”
“Twilight.” You hiss, turning to him. “Not helping.”
Warrior nods and rubs his eyes with the back of his hand. “Ok... Thank you...”
You nod and stand up again, holding out your hand for him to take. “Ok. We need to make our way to Castle Town. It’s about a day away. Think you can make the trip with us?”
He seems to take courage and nods, taking your hand in his. “I can! I live close by to Castle Town! It would help me get home faster!”
“Ok.” Legend stretches. “But we’d need to talk to Princess Zelda first before we can help you get home.”
He tilts his head. “Princess Zelda?”
“Yup!” You start to walk forward, signaling for the group to start making the trip. “She’s really nice. You’d like her.”
He hums quietly before he shifts to stand a little closer to your side. “My papa says he works close to the princess. He says she’s very pretty... Is that true?”
“She is very pretty. Yes.” You agree readily, mostly to humor him.
“Is she as pretty as you?”
You trip over your own two feet. You turn to look at him, not wanting to make it awkward. Even if you’re incredibly flustered.  “I would say she’s prettier than me.”
“Impossible.”
Many of the others start snickering around you. You turn to give them a mild glare. Warrior doesn’t seem to notice.
“Mama would like you. She likes pretty things.”
You have to bite your lip. “Thank you, sweetheart. That’s very kind of you.”
Hyrule
“My name is Link, what’s yours?” The small child looks up at you with a bright smile. Hyrule got hit with a magic blaster faster than you could call out to him and this was the being who stood in his place.
You stutter out your name with wide eyes. He giggles and adjusts the hat on his head. “That’s a pretty name. It’s nice meeting you. Goodbye.”
“Wait, wait, wait!” You dive to catch his arm. Your action startles him and you’re quick to let him go again. The others around you are equally as startled but offer you no help. You try to catch your breath, taking a knee to match his line of sight better. “Where are you going?”
The boy suddenly eyes you suspiciously. “Why?”
“Why are you alone?” You ask him instead. “It’s not safe to go alone.”
He hums and kicks the dirt under his foot with his toe. “But I’m always alone.”
“They’re right though.” Four offers a little assistance. “It’s not safe to go alone. Do you know how to use a sword?”
The child looks a little uneasy. “...My aunts don’t want me to use a sword. They say that I have o get stronger first. My sisters try to keep me from using too much magic- but I’m really strong now! So I’ll be ok.”
You snap your fingers. “The fairies!” You turn to the others of the group. “Maybe they can help us fix this.”
The small boy takes a step back, clutching his hands over his chest. “I didn’t say fairies-”
“Are there any Great Fairies even nearby?” Legend runs his hands down his face. “It would take a lot to find them. Their fountains can be well hidden enough to avoid detection- not to mention the potential dangers that surround them.”
“We have to try.” You press on. “They might be strong enough to help him!”
Time takes a knee getting close to the child. “Do you know where they are?”
Tiny hands cover a tiny mouth. He shakes his head.
That’s...odd, you think to yourself. Hyrule wasn’t exactly open about it, but he didn’t try to his relationship with the fairies around his home. You tilt your head. “Well that’s ok if you don’t knw where they are. We can look them for them together.”
“You can’t.’ He whispers. He sounds scared suddenly. “I won’t tell you anything. I won’t let you hurt them!”
He turns to run away again but time grabs his arm again. this time he tries to fight back and Time is at a loss of what to do. You dive in, grabbing his legs as he starts to kick. “We’re not trying to hurt them!”
“Let me go!”
“We just need help!”
“I don’t believe you!”
“Enough!” Time booms in what you can only call the angry dad voice. He holds the child close to his chest, keeping him off of the ground. Hyrule stops moving, but he begins to shake, little tears star coming down his face.
You let him go and start to dry his tears and lower your voice to be as comforting as possible. “No one is going to hurt them and no one is going to hurt you, ok? We have a problem and we just want to know if they can do something about it.”
You feel bad but you don’t want him to run off, especially since he’s not where he thinks he is.
He sniffles and Time slowly lowers him to the ground again. “Better?”
Hyrule nods, pulling his hat over his face. He looks up at you with wide, wet eyes. “Promise.”
You hold out your pinky. “I promise.”
He copies your movement and nods. “If you hurt them-”
“We won’t.” You sigh. “Just stay with us for a little bit, ok? Just until our problem is fixed.”
Hyrule whines, stepping forward to hug you. You have no idea why or what’s going through his head, but you hug him back, rubbing what you hope are soothing circles on his back.
“I’ll be watching you.” He tries to sound threatening. “And not because you’re pretty.”
You have to bite back a snort. “Of course.”
The Final Promise₊˚✩⊹
Chapter 1
Linked Universe x reader
Warnings: Tension, not much else, maybe some angst??
Ordon Village on the cusp of winter was truly a sight to behold. The trees bare and the ground covered in frost in the early morning, fog rolling in from the surrounding forest. You could hear the birds chirping in the first hours of the day, being a nice, calming alarm clock for you, a nice change to your phone’s blaring alarm.
Stretching your arms out, you yawn. Today was pretty important, as you have a meeting with Rusl and the chain with what your next steps will be. You weren’t exactly looking forward to it, not wanting to end this domestic little vacation you got to have, but it was necessary. Nothing stays peaceful in Hyrule.
Before you had the chance to rub the sleep out of your eyes, you could hear Wind banging on your door.
“Wakey-wakey sleepyhead! Wild made breakfast!” and before you had the chance to respond, much less actually get out of bed, Wind barges in and grabs your hand, pulling you along. You somehow managed to grab your old hoodie on the way out, not wanting to freeze outside of the warm blankets Twilight gave you. Ironically enough, it was the zelda hoodie that your best friend got you, one of those hoodies that were meant to look like Link’s hat as the hood. The group teased you a lot about it.
You were listening to Wind’s rambling as you were being dragged into Twilight’s kitchen, already hearing quiet talking amongst the boys. The kitchen smelled amazing.
“Oh my god Wild what did you make, it smells SO fucking good.” you awed.
He rolled his eyes in amusement, “Just some toast with eggs over rice. I also tried making a new sauce to put over the eggs, so let me know what you think,” he said, sliding a plate of food towards you.
You took a bite and moaned, “Wild it’s official, you’re my favorite.” you mumbled, mouth full of food.
You hear a couple ‘hey’s!’ in the background, but you ignore them, just smiling at Wild who scratches his head in embarrassment, but gives you a smile in return.
You finish off your breakfast quickly, washing it down with a mug of warm honey milk, Sky’s homemade beverage that you’ve come to enjoy a lot. With a dash of some sweetened spice, it's the perfect drink to warm you up.
~
With all of your stomach’s full and satiated, you make your way to Rusl’s cottage towards the edge of Ordon Village. The cottage is quaint, decorated with small lanterns to commemorate the coming winter holidays. Rusl is carving a piece of wood on his porch and waves at your lot once you come closer, ushering you inside. The inside was cozy, a fire crackling in the fireplace warming the living room, a warm soup being heated on the stove and some fresh bread in the oven.
You all sit down at his dining table, all curious and/or worried on what your next steps will be and whether or not there has been any news on the Shadow’s movements.
“I’m sure you all are anxious to hear about the Shadow’s activity, but there was something more important I needed to bring up first.” Rusl said, making eye contact with each of you, but his eyes stopped at you.
Time nodded at him, encouraging him to continue.
“We all know that our guide here isn’t from this Hyrule, much less any of yours. That being said, Ashei had sent me a letter a few days ago sending the typical update that she does every couple months, but this letter was… different, so to speak. Among the resistance and the Hylian research team there has been a discovery, or rather, a rediscovery.” Rusl paused.
The air was thick, tense with anxiety and stress.
“What is it Rusl? Is someone in trouble?” Twilight asks, putting a hand on his shoulder for reassurance.
Rusl shakes his head.
“No. For now at least.”
He takes a breath.
“They seem to have found another mirror. A twilight mirror possibly, not clear. But that’s not the part I brought you here for.”
Rusl then fixes his eyes right onto you, causing the rest of the group to turn their gaze onto you, one by one.
“They think it can bring you home, Y/n.”
Chapter Four is HERE and I think you all are going to like it! Many thanks to @cjracingpnf for being my Hallmark expert and approving this story. Also, thank you to @theangelicstoryteller for allowing me to borrow her notion for a ridiculous name for the festival / the Castle Town Winterzauber Winter Solstice Tree Lighting Ceremony. Thank you, my friends!
Excerpt:
Relief washed over Link, and he hoped he didn’t look too foolish when his smile widened at her answer. “Great!”
He offered Hilda his arm, and to his delight, she took it, placing her arm lightly atop his. They strolled up the lane, weaving amongst the other patrons to the Winterzauber. As the sky darkened, the glow of the fairy lights from the stalls and street lamps cast a magical ambiance to the idyllic scene. The gently falling snow muffled the sounds of footsteps, voices, and music, and Link once again was grateful Rusl had talked him into attending.
Experiencing something after the aimless numbness that had overcome Link after his battle with Ganondorf was refreshing. Link winced, remembering Jeffries’ promise that Princess Zelda would want to reward him for his heroics. He wasn’t sure how to get out of that, but he could worry about it later. Tonight, he’d enjoy the evening and getting to know a potential new friend. Glancing at Hilda, he noticed how her auburn hair, generously streaked with gossamer strands of honeyed gold, glittered in the warm light. Link swallowed, feeling butterflies swirling in his belly. Oh great goddess above, Link couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt that sensation. Hopefully, he could talk to Hilda without embarrassing himself. The last thing he wanted was for her to think he was a country bumpkin in the big city.
“The Jealous Type”
Words: 1,692
Rating: G
Warnings: N/A
Categories: M/M
Characters: Link, Shad, Telma
Relationships: Link/Shad
Simply put, Shad and Link didn't get along very well. The reason why that was would depend on who you asked though.
📖   📖   📖
The loud ruckus of the bar was a familiar sound. Link had visited the place often enough that he was accustomed to the loud banter and hearty laughs of the patrons. As the door shut behind him, Link was immediately greeted by the owner of the establishment.
"Link! Go sit over there, honey! I'll be there in a second," Telma called, motioning to the curtain that divided the common area in half. Doing as instructed, Link pulled back the curtain and disappeared behind it.
All but one member of the group that was normally gathered at the table in the secluded section of the bar was missing. Sitting in his usual seat was Shad. When Link went to take a seat, Shad stood.
"Link! Telma told me all about your brave escort of the ladies back to Kakariko Village. I must say, I'm impressed, old boy!" The two young men took a seat as Shad continued. "Tell me, how is Ilia? Has she regained any of her memories?"
Ilia. Of course that was what Shad was interested in. Nevermind the fact that Link had been shot by multiple arrows during his trip to escort the women to the village. Shad was worried about Ilia.
Ilia is fine. She has regained most of her memories and Rusl plans to escort her back to Ordon Village in a week or so, Link politely signed.
Shad visibly relaxed at the news. "I'm glad. She is a sweet girl and I wish the best for her."
I'm sure you do, Link thought with a roll of his eyes. The action, however, did not go unnoticed by Shad.
"My apologies, but do my expressions of sentiment upset you?" Shad asked in a challenging tone. "I hadn't thought you to be the jealous type."
Link's eyes lifted, their focus shifting from the book resting in front of Shad to the man himself. I am most definitely the jealous type, Link slowly signed, making sure Shad understood every word.
"You have every right to be jealous," Shad stated, sitting up a little straighter. "Ilia is a wonderful girl; any man would be lucky to have her." With a short laugh, Shad added, "I find your jealousy rather amusing, if I'm honest. Just because Ilia seems to prefer my company to yours-"
Link abruptly stood up, tired of listening to the scholar ramble on and on.
As he headed toward the curtain to make an exit, he heard Shad comment, "There's no need to be rude, old boy. I-"
The harsh look Link gave him killed whatever comment he was about to add to his statement. Shad had never seen the hero look so upset. Was he really that bothered by the whole thing?
Turning his body to fully face Shad, Link kept his eyes intently trained on the man as he signed, Perhaps I'm not jealous of Ilia.
By the time Shad's mind had caught up to him and he fully comprehended what Link was telling him, the hero had fled from the bar and into the night.
📖   📖   📖
"Telma, do you know where Link is?" Shad inquired once the bar had emptied out for the night. Shad hadn't seen or heard from Link since their discussion nearly a week earlier.
"Honey, Link could be anywhere. He didn't tell me where he was going next, if that's what you're asking."
"Oh," Shad replied, his pointed ears drooping just the slightest in disappointment.
"Are you two getting along alright? He stormed out of the bar the last time he was here and I haven't seen him since."
"I'm... Not sure, if I'm quite honest. I'm afraid my innocent teasing might have upset him. He also confessed something that completely took me by surprise. I feel that I should apologize to him, but I'm not sure when I'll see him again."
Giving one of her comforting smiles, Telma reassured Shad. "Don't worry, honey. He'll be back."
📖   📖   📖
The sun had just dipped below the horizon, the last remnants of red and orange fading from the sky at a leisure pace. Perched on the edge of the southern fountain, Shad gathered up his books into his arms. Without the adequate lighting, he could no longer read outside. As he stood from his place on the concrete, a familiar figure appeared on the steps of the south entrance to Castle Town.
With the dim, fading light, it was difficult to make out the details of the man but light was unnecessary. Shad knew exactly who he was.
"Link, you've returned." Returning his books to their place on the edge of the fountain, Shad approached the hero. Before he could begin apologizing, Link began signing.
I would like to apologize for my actions the last time I was here. I didn't mean to be short with you. Link's eyes stayed trained on anything but the scholar, never looking him in the eye. I know better than that. Please accept my apology.
"You are not the one who should be apologizing, old boy. I should not have teased you with such a topic."
Link awkwardly shifted from foot to foot. Could we speak in private?
"Of course! Let me gather my things and I'll meet you at Telma's bar, alright?"
I was thinking something a little more private, Link stated to Shad's surprise. Perhaps your apartment?
Shad froze where he was, the book in his arm slipping and nearly falling in the fountain. "You would like to go to my apartment?"
If that is alright with you, Link said. If not, we can go to Telma's bar.
"No, no! My apartment is fine," Shad stated, gathering up the rest of his books from the fountain's ledge. "If I'd known I was going to have company, I would have tidied up a little." It was obvious that Shad was distracted by his own thoughts so Link took the stack of books from his arms. It was difficult to sign with the books in his hold, but Link managed to awkwardly sign something that resembled, Lead the way.
📖   📖   📖
Link had never seen so many books in his life. Every bit of wall space unoccupied by a door or window was covered by a bookcase, the numerous shelves crammed full of books. Even then, books were neatly stacked on top of the shelves until they touched the ceiling and various individual books rested on the coffee table and the desk beside the bay window.
You have a lot of books, Link obviously stated, not sure what to say. The collection was impressive and Link faintly wished he could read them all.
"Oh, uhm, thank you," Shad awkwardly replied as he sat down, watching Link set his books down beside the ones already occupying the coffee table. "I've read every single one of them; I've written a few of them as well."
Link took a seat on the couch beside Shad as the scholar said, "I believe there is something you wanted to speak with me about?"
The hero's eyes cut to the side in a moment of discomfort. Despite the anger and confidence he had displayed in Telma's bar during his last visit, Link was less than comfortable when opening up.
Yes, there is. Link stole a glance at Shad's expectant face then glanced at the stack of books, finally letting his gaze rest on the bookshelf behind the scholar. Do you remember the last thing I told you before I left?
"I do, though I'm unsure if I interpreted the meaning of your words correctly," Shad replied. "Regardless, there is something I would like to tell you." Link focused on Shad then, allowing him to make his statement before he continued.
"Though I do care about Ilia and her recovery, I should not have teased you so. I'm not sure if you know about the relationship Ilia and I have, but we are nothing more than friends, and I am happy to keep it that way. I believe..." Shad's eyes cut away in embarrassment, his face growing a little warmer. "I believe my true affections belong to another."
They are indeed lucky, Link signed, his ears drooping and gaze falling away, his disappointment clear. It was obvious he was misunderstanding Shad's words, which only flustered the scholar further.
"No, Link, I meant you," Shad blurted out, a hand immediately slapping itself over his mouth and his eyes widening. Link's eyes immediately darted to Shad's, searching intently for something, though Shad was unsure what exactly. Nothing about Link's face or posture gave a clue as to what he was thinking.
Like I said, Link finally signed after an unbearable amount of time. A goofy grin appeared on his face, his blue eyes shining happily as he nonchalantly signed, 'They are indeed lucky.'
All the air in Shad's lungs seemed to be sucked out by an invisible vacuum and he was left speechless. It took a few moments before Shad could finally find his voice and when he did, the words that he dared to speak came out in a hushed tone.
"So, you are the jealous type?"
Link's grin faded but his eyes remained as playful as ever. If Shad hadn't already been smitten, he would have sworn the look Link was giving him would do him in.
I am the most jealous type, he signed, sliding closer to Shad. The scholar could feel his nerves returning with full force as a battle calloused hand reached over and took his, their fingers lacing together gently. The hero could feel the red-head's nerves and wanted to make his feelings clear without pressuring the other man.
The long fingers of the other squeezed Link hand, reassuring him that the contact was welcome. Leaning in, Link placed a chaste kiss to Shad's cheek. Before the scholar's brain could completely shut down, Link unentwined his fingers from the other's tight grip and asked, Tell me about the books you've written.
Cozy Christmas Season Comfort! Ordon Fam Edition
Link pat Epona in thanks as she neighed comfortingly and walked to the side of the path to eat. He threw his pack over his shoulder, staring at the narrow passage that led into the village. He'd been gone for months, wandering Hyrule in search of some kind of purpose that he didn't even understand. Ever since his adventure had ended and Midna had left him, he'd felt a strange emptiness, a sadness punctuated by the oncoming of the twilight hours of the day.
He supposed he understood what Rusl had meant a year ago.
Nevertheless, he'd promised himself that he'd come back to the village to see his family for this time of the year. And he'd made sure he fulfilled that promise.
Sighing, he walked into Ordon Village.
It was quiet. That was the first thing he'd noticed. He'd gotten so used to hearing the bustle of Castletown, he realized, or the pleasant but active ambience of Kakariko, or the whispers of the countless beings in the palace, or the loud and drunken cheer of Telma's bar. He'd wandered so much trying to find his purpose that the entire world had become white noise.
But here it was still and silent.
Walking towards one of the homes, he knocked, suddenly strangely nervous and excited. He had sent word that he'd be coming, but he hadn't specified when, and after not seeing them for so long, he suddenly felt like a stranger.
The door opened slowly, revealing Rusl. The elder's eyes immediately lit up with delight as he took in the sight in front of him. "Link!"
Before the teenager could say anything, he was puled into a hug, and he immediately sank into the hold. He was a sucker for hugs, after all.
"Hi Pa," he greeted quietly.
Rusl pulled him inside, saying something about him freezing, and he was immediately besieged by the entire family. Colin got to him first, slamming into him and nearly knocking him over--when had he gotten so tall? Uli was next, brushing his hair out of his face and cupping his cheeks to give him a kiss on the forehead. Rusl's hand was warm on his shoulder. Hana babbled excitedly from her little perch on the floor, where she sat up playing with a toy--she was sitting up now? Spirits, had it been that long?
"Oh honey, it's so good to see you," Uli said. "Have you eaten?"
And just like that, Link was being guided to the table by Rusl while Uli grabbed leftovers. Colin interrogated him about his travels and Han walked--walked!--over to them with a curious look in her little eyes. Link answered every question he could, and he put Hana on his lap as she examined him as if seeing him for the first time before smiling and excitedly slapping her little hands on his cheeks.
After he'd eaten, he was told firmly that he would be staying with them tonight. Although he had opted for shifting into wolf form to save them the trouble of trying to make room for him (Hana had been absolutely delighted, and Colin had rode on his back around the house), Rusl and Uli had insisted he sleep on an actual cushion and not the floor. Uli stacked what looked to be a dozen blankets on the couch alongside a handful of pillows and insisted on tucking him in while Rusl put the other two to bed.
As she brushed her hand through his hair, she kissed him gently and said, "I'm so happy you're home."
Link smiled sleepily. "I missed you."
He was certain Uli had said something, but he was too growing tired to follow the conversation anymore. He settled into the warmth and comfort around him, and vaguely heard Rusl wish him a good night.
It was good to be home.
Many Meetings (LU in Healthcare)
Well, here we go. :) Who wants Linked Universe in Healthcare AU introductions?
(Click here to read on AO3)
Time finished cauterizing and pulled the instrument out of the incision. Looking at the surgical fellow, he nodded. “Go ahead and close up, we’re done.”
Backing away from the table and the patient, he gave the fellow room to step in and begin working on closing the incision. He turned and saw Malon staring at him pointedly.
Time sighed in a longsuffering manner. He knew that look. That was the I’m still waiting for you to say something about this look. “What is it?”
“Twilight,” she said simply as she took the instrument from him and handed it to the surgical tech.
Time pointedly looked away, watching someone hang a unit of blood they had collected from the cell saver device. “Rusl and Uli said he’d be in town within the week. That could be anytime, Malon.”
“It has been a week since they said that. He’s my cousin’s kid, Time, we have to make sure he’s okay.”
Time didn’t know what to say. They’d had this discussion at least three times by now. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to help this Twilight person, seeing as he was family and all, but the issue was that no one had been able to contact him. Twilight was a grown man with his own life, and Time had never even met him, and now he was supposed to find this kid somewhere in Castle Town? Rusl and Uli had given Malon and Time the boy’s phone number but he never answered texts and calls went straight to voicemail. It was concerning, but the only other option they had was to call the police, which was a drastic measure to take if Twilight simply wanted to be left alone by people he didn’t know.
“What else do you want me to do?” Time asked, looking back at her as he started to strip off the sterile gloves and gown once the patient was closed. “I’m open to ideas.”
Malon grabbed a clipboard to start counting tools with the tech, ensuring that nothing was left behind in the patient. “Uli said that Twilight was likely going to be getting a job at the hospital. It would make the most sense given that he just finished CNA class. So we need to look for him here.”
Time bit his lip. He didn’t like that they had been completely unable to reach Twilight, but Rusl and Uli had been hearing from him sporadically throughout the week, which implied he was fine. This seemed a bit overbearing – he wasn’t sure why Twilight’s parents were so insistent that Time and Malon check in on Twilight, anyway.
Still, Rusl and Uli weren’t usually anxious people. Something had to be up. He just wished this was a bit more straightforward. All he knew was Twilight had been closed off, had announced his move abruptly, and Rusl and Uli were worried.
“I’ve got ten minutes to review notes from surgeries all day before we have another one,” Time finally said. “And then I’ve got to round on a few patients. I wouldn’t even know where to begin.”
“Oh, honey, I’ll start looking, don’t worry,” Malon said. “Just keep your eyes peeled for him.”
Wild grunted as he strained to reach into the dumpster. When his fingers finally felt the packaging he’d been eying, he smiled, pulling the bag out and inspecting his prize. He was astonished to find that it was still half full of chips.
“Wow,” he muttered. “People really will just throw things away like this. What a waste.”
But great for me! He thought with delight, digging in and taking a bite, savoring the sensation as his empty stomach finally had something provided for it.
Turning, he headed towards the end of the alley when he froze, finding someone around his age staring at him.
“Um,” Wild said awkwardly, and then he lifted the dumpster lid. “You looking to deposit or withdraw?”
The man’s expression was somewhere between bewilderment and exasperation. “You need food, friend?”
“Nah, I’m good,” Wild said cheerfully, showing his half-filled bag of chips.
“Like real food.”
“This is real food,” Wild argued. “Anything’s edible.”
The man sighed. “Look, my room’s not far from here, I can bring you food here or you can come inside where it isn’t raining and eat something legit.”
The offer was certainly tempting, but Wild wasn’t an idiot to just go into some random person’s motel room at the offer of shelter. He leaned against the dumpster. “Here’s fine.”
The man nodded and walked away. Wild was tempted to leave at that point, but he could defend himself well enough if anything happened. This wasn’t the best section of town, but it wasn’t the worst, either – a quick defensive maneuver and a call for help would get him out of danger.
When the man returned, he had a microwave dinner already heated and ready with a fork, holding it out. Wild took it with a grateful smile and a watchful eye. The food looked unmolested, the plastic covering still intact. He supposed it was safe to eat, then.
“I’m Twilight, by the way,” the man said, leaning casually against the wall. “You go by anything?”
“Wild.”
Twilight laughed. “I can believe it.”
Wild paused from his bite, squinting at Twilight. “What’s with the markings on your face?”
Twilight shifted, suddenly uncomfortable. “Oh, it’s uh… they’re just tattoos. Cultural thing.”
Wild chewed his food thoughtfully. This Twilight guy was not the best liar, but he supposed it was nosy to pry further. The pair stood in awkward silence for a moment, getting steadily more drenched in the rain.
Eventually, Wild’s eyes noticed more details in the dim light. The black markings on Twilight’s face somewhat hid the dark circles under his eyes, making it seem like part of the tattoos, but they were still evident. As was the clear disproportion of bone structure to fat. Looking down at his food again, he held it out. “Do… do you want some? You look like you haven’t been eating a lot.”
“Says the guy who was dumpster diving,” Twilight shot back with a smirk.
“It’s a perfectly respectable hobby,” Wild huffed, but he didn’t continue to eat. “Seriously, you look like you need to eat this more than I do.”
“I’m fine, Wild.”
Wild crinkled his brow. This guy was too sweet, and he looked scuffed up.
Wait a second. Wild recognized him! He’d beaten up the jerks who were trying to steal from Beedle the other day! Wild hadn’t had a chance to thank him before he’d disappeared.
Straightening in determination, Wild asked, “Okay, where’s your room? We’re both going to freeze to death out here.”
Twilight’s smirk settled into a warm smile as he exited the alley. “This way.”
The pair didn’t walk far before they’d reached his door on the single floor motel. Twilight unlocked it and they headed in. The room was as bare as they came, looking like Twilight wasn’t even living in there, though there was a pile of clothing and a badge on the desk.
“You just get here?” Wild asked as he closed the door behind him.
“A couple days ago, yeah. Why?”
Wild hummed thoughtfully. “Well, I’ve lived at this motel on and off for a month, so you should know some pointers.”
“Let’s start with drying off first,” Twilight advised with gentle amusement, handing Wild a towel. “Then maybe a shower.”
Wild laughed. “All right, Dad.”
Twilight scowled. “I prefer Big Brother, thank you very much.”
Wild continued to chuckle at Twilight and then pointed to the badge on his desk. “Is that a Hyrule Hospital badge? You work there?”
“Yeah, just started. Why?”
Wild perked up. “I did too! I figure maybe the income will get me out of this dump.”
Twilight smiled at that. “Well, I just got here, but I figure it’ll help. Maybe we can both find a way to live somewhere a little less… sketchy.”
Wild barked out another laugh. Sketchy was one word for it. “I’m in transport, how about you?”
“Patient care tech on the floor. Figured I’d try my hand at pediatrics.”
Wild thought about it for a moment. Pediatrics would be fun because of dealing with the kids. On the other hand, seeing sick and dying children and dealing with their insanely stressed parents was… not as appealing.
“Well, I’m sure I’ll see you around there,” Wild noted.
“Oh yeah. But in the meantime, you want some popcorn? I’ve got a few bags we can heat up.”
“Sure!”
Warriors rushed in with the code cart as the blonde nurse did compressions on the patient. No one else had made it to the room yet. He turned on their portable monitor/defibrillator quickly, placing pads on the patient’s chest, working around the nurse.
“Sorry, took me a bit to find the code cart. What happened?” Warriors asked.
“Oh, the usual, gave the good old v-fib shuffle and then he was off to Neverland,” the nurse remarked, sweat starting to glisten on his brow. “You new?”
Warriors couldn’t help the embarrassed flush that colored his cheeks considering he struggled to find the most important equipment in the unit, but in his defense no one had given him a tour yet. “Yeah. I’m also about to do a rhythm check, we can trade places after that if you want.”
“Perfect,” the nurse said, continuing his compressions, only pausing to deliver two breaths, and then getting back on the patient’s chest. He was waiting for Warriors to indicate he was ready.
The new nurse watched the monitor and then told the other one to pause. As they waited and watched an underlying rhythm of absolutely nothing slide across the small screen, Warriors sighed and swapped places.
“I’m Warriors, by the way,” he said just as he started compressions. “You?”
“Legend.”
Warriors flashed a smile before reaching the thirtieth compression and giving two breaths. “Nice to meet you.”
On the other side of the department, Hyrule gasped in delight as he pulled out a small travel packet of pretzels. “Yes, they have food in the EMS room today!”
His little victory pose was interrupted when the door opened slowly, revealing a young man in a flight suit shuffling in, his eyes drooping. Hyrule recognized him in an instant – he was a pilot, the pilot who had given him a reassuring thumbs up when he’d arrived the other day to get one of Hyrule’s patients.
“Hi,” Hyrule greeted with a smile.
The pilot yawned, only remembering to cover it when he was halfway through. Then he gave a soft smile, tilting his head to the side. “Hi.”
The pilot walked by him, heading straight for the coffee machine, when he realized it had nothing in it. Pouting he, leaned heavily on the counter, groaning.
“Need some caffeine?” Hyrule offered. “I always carry some bottles of five-hour energy in case of emergency. If that isn’t your thing, I know a nurse who basically lives off energy drinks; he could probably give you something.”
The pilot turned to him, his eyes filled with hope. “Energy drinks?”
Hyrule nodded, pointing for the door. “Yeah, his name’s Legend. I’ll help you find him.”
The pilot followed him excitedly. “I’m Sky, by the way.”
“I’m Hyrule. I, uh, I don’t know if you remember me, but we met the other day.”
Sky’s smile faltered as he considered his words, and then he brightened. “Oh, right! You were that paramedic by the ambulance when we were taking off. You had blood all over you.”
Hyrule rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “Yeah, it was a bit of a mess.”
“The flight nurse said you did a great job,” Sky noted, patting him on the shoulder briefly.
Hyrule felt himself grow even more embarrassed, and he turned a corner sharply. “O-oh. Well, I—it was nothing, really, I just—protocols, you know. Let’s go find Legend.”
Four grumbled as he hit the silence button on the ventilator once more. It was alarming because it was starting to run low on nitrous oxide, a medication used for pulmonary hypertension. He didn’t often deal with cardiac and pulmonary patients on his unit, but when the CVICU was full, the surgical-trauma ICU would pick up the slack.
Which meant he had to deal with this. Whenever the nitrous oxide tank got close to being empty, it would start alarming and Four couldn’t do anything about it except wait for respiratory therapy to arrive.
But respiratory therapy was always understaffed and overworked, and Four’s patient wasn’t the only one on a ventilator.
Sighing, Four turned to leave the room when he saw a teenager hovering in the doorway with a tank almost as big as himself being dragged behind him.
“Uh, hi. Can I help you?” Four asked. The tank looked like nitrous oxide, but who was the kid?
“I’m Wind. I’m one of the respiratory therapist students,” the teenager explained with a bright smile. “I’m here to swap out the nitrous.”
Four felt pleasantly surprised, and he huffed out a small, relieved laugh. “Go for it, Wind. Guess I’ll be seeing you a lot on the unit. You new to the area?”
“Yeah! I just moved here with my brother.”
Four smiled. “Welcome to the chaos.”
Blood on your Hands-Lu fan fic
This story, got inspired by a scene in a show I was watching. It slightly talks about some deeply personal topics. that may be uncomfortable for some. The main one being that Twilight has issues with the knights of his Hyrule. which comes up after Warriors pushes the subject. Twilight is far to nice and Warriors happened to be the nearest thing to lash out. There is mention of Blood. No injuries though, just the blood of bad guys. Talk of miss use of alcohol. and now sobriety. Twilight is clean. anyways. Felt like getting that info out.
Other wise, this sort of a angst and Fluff. Lot of group bonding moment really. also learning a bit more about Twilight. I hope you enjoy it. I wrote most of this at 2am in the morning and now the rest at 3pm. I have a learning disability so the grammar is not all that great. just yet another emotional piece.
word count: 3,299
(Character creation is from: @linkeduniverse  )
 As the nine entered castle town In twilight’s Hyrule, the markets were hustle and bustling. So lively. “Okay away with y’all’s. Go find what you need. I am off to go say hello to a very old friend of mine.” Twilight said with a warm smile. “Meet back at the fountain- hm- in a few hours.” They all nodded and then split up. Time and wild however stuck by Twilight. He kept his head down as if he didn’t want to be seen. Which was strange to Time. Wild was to focused on the winding ally ways they ducked into. Why is he hiding like as of expecting to run into some unwanted company? Time wondered. He shook off the thought as they made another turn. Twilight seemingly walking faster till he jogged his way down some stairs to a place that had a sign that read “Telma’s bar”. Uh oh. Is he going to break his sobriety. Time worried. Twilight give time a look. “Old friend works here. Come along if you want. I want to give her a check in that I am okay.” Time let out a sigh. Wild looked at Time. Time followed. Wild not far behind. The room of the bar was cozy, the patrons all happy. Being well fed and drinks all around. Time watched a well curvy woman came out from behind the bar and gave Twilight a tight hug. Her voice carried across the room. “LINK, oh honey! I am so glad to see you!” Time smiles and shook his head. Wild stood beside Time and chuckled. “He looks nearly squished by her. Also first to see him allow anyone that close to him. Old friend indeed. But what had you worried back there?” He asked Time. Times one good eye looks down at wild as he crossed his arms and moved out of the way so to let people leave to building. Wild quickly following. “Hm, to be honest wild. I think that’s for him to tell. However, cause it you. Twilight had a drinking problem. After saving his world, he was in a world of hurt. He didn’t know how to handle it. He did what most of us did. Did things to try and cope with what they went through- instead of facing it. It got nasty. He became unrecognizable.” Time spoke softly. Keeping and eyes one Twilight. The situation was not far from his own. He got a handle on his own devices, as did Twilight. “He’s been sober since then. I fear though he is having to face many of his own demons again. When he does- who know how he will handle it.” Wild looked back at twilight as the woman seem to look at the two of them.
Time gave a slight awkward wave. Telma walked over to the two. Twilight heading off to a back area where a group was sitting around a map it seems with some books. “So you are his crew these days. I get a few letters from him. You must be Time and you cutie is Wild. Oooh look at you.” She said placing a gentle hand on Wilds face. “So sorry any of you had to go through what you have.” She states then looking at Time. He softly smiled at her. “you must be the famous Telma then. Keeping the boy out of trouble.” Telma chuckled and swatted at Time. “What trouble, the boy was no trouble. He was brave and courageous. I am so proud of him.” She stated. “Any ways, come in, come in. We have things other than alcohol here. Got food and drinks. Good company.” Time chuckles at her. “We are fine. However thank you for your offer.” She nodded, "you're welcome. Link is just catching up with the group that helped him. More than welcome to join him.” They both nodded and made their way towards where twilight was. Where he was happily chatting up the scholarly looking youth. “Oh there is so much I have seen now. Stuff that sort of fit to your father’s writings.” Time placed a hand on Twilight’s shoulder. Twilight nearly jumping out of his own tunic. “Ah, what secrets are you telling these friends of yours pup?” Twilight blushes and brushed Times hand off. “Just filling them in on the few things we experienced to sort of help fill in some of the work this fellow is working on.” Twilight stood up crossing his arms and giving Time a smirk. “That’s nice-“ Time paused and recognized an old friend. Also swordsman from Ordon Village. “Rusl?” The now much older gentleman rose to his feet  and came over to Time as they soon broke into an animated greeting and hug between the two “been so Long since that day!”
“Oh I know, so good to see you are still kicking.”
“Oi! Don’t be calling me old, look at you! My-my! Never thought I would see you again.” Twilight shook his head and chuckled. “Pup! You didn’t tell me he was in this motley crew you spoke of.” Time said ruffling the young Hylian’s hair. Twilight smirked and shoved Time away. “Join our table, we got room. Ah you got to be Wild then. Good to see another knight at our table. Sure Ashei won’t mind sharing some pointers with you.” Rusl states scooting past to grab some extra chairs and patting Wild’s back. Wild flinched and sort of stood shyly closer to Twilight. Chairs where then brought and set up. Time took a chair and so did wild. He watched as Twilight however didn’t. Interesting. He thought to himself. Twilight how did manage to snag a bit of the bread and snacked on it. As there was chatter among the Time and the others. A bit about what Twilight and the group they were in we doing. To showing So places to check out. Twilight chiming in a bit. Otherwise. Quiet. Twilight smiled though. Telma bring over a few cups of Tea and also joining in the conversation or teasing Twilight.
After some time the three said their goodbyes. Rusl gabbing Twilight a good long hug and remind him to not be a stranger and write some time. Keep in touch and all. Twilight going “okay, okay. I will Try.” And away they went. Twilight seem to have a much different energy buzzing around him. As he lead them down the ally towards the castle town central. Where the fountain could be seen and the Castle in the at the foot. Wild following behind twilight quietly. Time processing a bit of information they were given about some enemies in some parts of Twilight’s Hyrule. Places to possibly to gather information. As well help the locals out. He saw why Twilight had a bit of distrust for the knights. Though relatively peaceful, there were many Hylian knights getting plastered. They had let down Hyrule in its greatest time of need and even now making fools of themselves. Cowards! They had them managed to meet up with the rest. “So we got some Intel on some camps we should take out. Locals have a few enemies in the area.” Twilight spoke. Taking lead. Time, smiled seeing Twilight willingness to take charge. He wasn’t a bad leader, just rarely felt like he was good one though. However this was his world. He knew what to do.
They started gathering up their gear when a seemingly drunken older man pushed through the group. Grabbing Twilight by his tunic and proceeded to yell at him. “It’s all your fault!” Twilight frozen in shock. Time and Warriors jumped in, pulling the guys off. “Hey! Let go of me! It’s all his fault.” They held him back. Twilight regaining his sense. “Let him go, it’s okay.” Twilight said calmly. The others looked at him confused. Time and Warriors let the man go. The main adjusted himself before pointing his finger at Twilight, “my son is dead because of you. You are no hero.” He spit at Twilight. “You got blood on your hands and you did NOTHING to save my son. Where were you when he needed you to save him. His platoon all died. While you went off on some fancy adventure. Not saving this kingdom.” The man shouted. It then occurred what he was speaking about. There was a time where he went through the twilight mirror and was in the twilight realm. Stuck. He couldn’t help. Not until Zant was taken down a peg and Midna had her throne again. Her land restored to its rightful state. Twilight’s brow Scrunched in sadness. I felt for the man. The eight then saw something they didn’t expect from someone being bashed. Twilight step forward and pulled the stranger into a hug. Time instinctively stepped forward out of fear what the man could do. However all the man did was sob into twilight’s chest. Twilight just holding this complete stranger. “I am sorry I was not able to save them. However your son fought bravely. Not all in vain. He helped save this world when I could at the time. I am no hero.” He pulled away from the man and looked him straight in the face. “Yes I may have failed him. However he did not fail this kingdom and is a hero in his own right. That is some good you should think of. He died protecting the land and people he care most about.” The man seem to sober up at those words. Realizing how right Twilight was. “Y-you are right. I never thought about it that way. Also sorry. My son’s death was not your fault. You are one person trying to do what others were unable to do. I am just-“ “Hurting? I get it. No need to apologize.” The man then wiped his tears away and then nodded. Twilight flashed the gentleman a smile and gave him a nod. “Thank you.” The man said, before scurrying off. Feeling foolish at the scene he made. Twilight looked as the man walked off.
Once the man was out of sight, he looked back at the group, who all looked in shock at what just happened. “Don’t.” He growled and lead them out of the castle town and back out to Hyrule field where Epona awaited them. Time stayed quiet. Wild stood close to time waiting to see if anyone would say anything. Legend and Warriors seem to both holding back their words. Sky, four and Hyrule all just without words. Warriors stepped forward as Twilight adjusted their packs a bit. “No hero Hu?! What IN HYLIA was that back there?!” Warriors angrily spat at Twilight. Getting In twilight’s personal space. 3.....2...... okay you are fine 1...twilight counted. “You saves your kingdom and the people thank you like that?! You are a Goddess damn hero!” Shut it warriors. Oh just shut it. “They should be thankful for all you did for this kingdom. You didn’t ask to be a part of a dispute between two worlds.” Warriors fumed. The anger raged in twilight’s blood. He then whipped around so quickly knocking Warriors to the ground. “You LOT are all the FUCKING SAME! The knights failed this kingdoms out of cowardice. When they were need. Where we they? Off getting drunk! Or running and hiding from THEIR duty!” Twilight barked at Warriors. Who was in utter shock at that point. Time rushed and stepped forward. Putting a barrier between the two. “Oi! Pup, back off. He had nothing in this. Your kingdom failed you pup. Warriors just sad to see how you seen by some. Warriors. Probably best not to touch on this right now.” Time sternly and calmly stated. Time pushed twilight back. “Back off.” He quietly said again. Looking at Twilight with disapproved look. Twilight backed down and took Epona’s reigns before leading her off towards their next destination. Time helped warriors up. Warriors brushed off the dirt and said nothing. The tension in the air was thick. It seem to be that way till they made their way, following Twilight. Time thinking to the time his own people had even judged him for his own failures. Time knew it all too well how that felt. He couldn’t be in all in one place and he knew that. Didn’t take away that guilt he felt. He was sure Twilight and many others felt that too.
They ended up camping out in a nearby woods. They were a few days from the nearest camp they would try and take down and see if there was any clues to the dark shadow that had seem to have taken over. Hyrule and Four helped set up. A fire. Wild, did some quick meal. Camp was quiet. Many still too shocked at the events that happened that afternoon. Time spotted twilight not eating, more so refusing to eat. Twilight feeling uncomfortable at everyone looking at him, grabbed his gear and went off to patrol the camp. When he was out of war shot, legend was the first to speak up, “okay, what the hell? I have Never seen Twilight snap like that.”
“Maybe we shouldn’t talk about this guys. It’s clear he is working through some things.” Sky spoke up.
“I get we all got secrets, however he is the most reserved guy and loose his cool that way...” legend then continued. “Guys....” Wild said softly.
“I mean...” Time sighed and just shook his head. “Quiet.” He then barked.
The group sat in attention. “We have all been where he is at. Show a bit of compassion. Eat your food and drop the subject. Once done with that, each go to bed. “ “Who will take second watch then.” Asked wild. “I will.” Time said coolly. They all nodded. They all did what Time said. Warriors couldn’t be angry at Twilight. Not with what had said. Twilight. He knew it had nothing to do with him. However he couldn’t rest. So as everyone else was asleep. He looked at Time who was sitting up, sipping on tea and keeping an eye out for the camp. Warriors could see Twilight had not returned. He sat up and gathered up a log and placed it on the fire, before taking a seat beside Time. “Any sight of him?” Warriors asked. Time stayed quiet. No. “Hope he is okay.” Warriors continued looking in the direction of the forest which Twilight left. Time was worried. Twilight was not known to be gone this long. Clear he wanted to work through this on his own. Twilight was a private person about his emotions. He did show them to anyone really. Snapping like he did came from all the built up hurt and emotions he is keeping stuff in. He talked to Time a bit. Otherwise, he didn’t let anyone know. The night grew on. Time was fighting sleep. Warriors still sitting up with him. “One of us should sleep. No point both of us being out of rest.” Said Time fighting off a yawn. Warriors nodded. He spotted wild having one of his nightmares. “I will sleep. Wake me in a few though. Then I will take your place. We got to be in shape for fighting the camp.” He said getting up and moving over to where Wild was. Taking where Twilight would of been and just laid beside the cub. Giving them comfort the best he could.
The night dragged on. Time tossed another log on the fire. Twilight nowhere in sight still. Where are you pup? Please be careful. He thought to himself. He let another sigh. He was going to sit up till he could no longer stay awake. However Warriors seem to also being unable to sleep again. After making sure Wild was no longer trembling from nightmare. He made his way over to Time again. whose eye looked as those they were to nearly close. He plopped beside him. "you should rest. I will keep watch." Warriors said. Time tiredly looked at Warriors and gave in. He slow got up and then went over and slept where Warriors had been. Warriors carefully watched over the group. He sat up waiting. All the way till daylight crept up. The cool Morning air was crisp. The fog was low on the field and bits of the woods. The morning birds starting to chatter away. Warriors, eye, spotted a shadow of what Looked like a wolf making its way through the fog. That can't be, wolfi- his thought was broken when Twilight broke through the Fog. He looked bloodied and exhausted. Warriors stood up quickly. He rushed over to Twilight. Twilight Raised a hand up. "I am okay." Sensing what warriors was going to say. "Sorry about the other day. I had no right to snap at you that way. You are a knight, you had not play in my world's dealing. Hope you can forgive me?"  he then continued. Warrior's pulled Twilight in a Tight hug. he could care less how soaked Twilight was in what looked like the blackest blood that was coming out of many of the corrupted beasts.
"I am just glad you are alive and I now better understand you finally." Warriors said quietly, that only Twilight could hear. The rest of the camp was slowly waking. Warrior, broke the hug after some time. seeing how tense Twilight was. Twilight quickly wiped some blood coming from his mouth. Warriors crossed his arms. "goddess you will need a good wash after whatever trouble to got yourself into." Twilight chuckled and shook off and attempted to rub off some of the blood from his tunic. "well all I can say, we can explore the place safely. They too though seemed corrupted. However their leader was nowhere in sight." Warrior bought a hand to his own chin and went into deep though. Thinking about what twilight had said. Twilight was then bum rushed into a hug by both Wild and Wind, who seem both excited and worried. Twilight smiled, ruffling wind's hair. Then moving his hand to Wild's chin and giving a light tap of his forehead against wild’s.
Legend, Four and Hyrule sort of stayed back, still a little uncertain of the situation. Wind and Wild moved out of the way as Time grabbed Twilight into a tight hug. Twilight hands instinctively going up and resting on Times chest. As to put up some sort of barrier. He body just then relaxes. He was safe. This was someone he trusted. The stood like that for some time. The group watched. "I was so worried." Time said quietly.
"I'm sorry."  his head sinking into Time's chest.
"don't ever do that again."
"I know."
Time pulls away and lifted Twilight’s chin to look his square in the face, "and stop saying sorry, you have done nothing wrong. Just had us all worried." giving the pup a concerned looked. Twilight gave him a smirk and Pulled away.  "Also, don't pull a wild. we got one chaotic child, don't need two." Gaining Twilight the ever disapproval look from Time.
Twilight Chuckled. "fair. But no Guarantees" he then teased.
The group all chuckled. They went about packing camp up and making a quick breakfast. Before they were to head out to the camp which Twilight single handily in the night took down. "I swear I thought Wolfie was about to appear this morning, through the fog. Maybe he is reflecting you Twilight." Warriors stated as they quickly ate. Twilight said nothing and just smirked. Four, wild, Legend and Time all worriedly looking at twilight then at each other.
Hm, so he may. Twilight Thought to himself and continued to smile and say nothing. So he may.
-so in the spirit of thanksgiving, I give you this quick one shot fic. Time, Malon join Their blood to join thanksgiving in Ordon village with him. With one big family reunion with Rusl, Uki, Colin and the little sister. Some sappy LU moment stuff. Hope you enjoy. -
Twilight nervously puttered about his own kitchen making a pie for the gathering later that day. Why was he nervous. He knew his old man had known Rusl and entrusted him with the care of raising him. Maybe it was more that this would be his mother first time here. Seeing where he lived and raised. Placing the pie in the oven. He was so lost in his thoughts, he hadn’t hear them enter his house. It was only when Malon chirped about how it remind her of Times place. Heart skipped a beat. Then a strong arm wrapped around his shoulder, giving it a slight squeeze. “Ah yes, in some ways it is my dear.” the older Hylian stated. Twilight shoved him off. “Come off of it...” he blurts. The older Hylian then just took to ruffling his son’s hair. “Very homey I’d say.”
Twilight then ducked out from his grasp and goes about to cleaning up his cooking mess. Malon looking about at the table, littered with books and pictures. He smiled seeing her amused with his stuff. “Yup, he is surely our blood. Strong farmer instincts and love of all things animals.” She commented on the goat picture. He blushed and set to washing a few dishes. Time leaned up against the kitchen counter. “Sure is.” Giving twilight a wink. “Okay stop it you two, I can’t with your affection. It’s distracting.” Twilight chuckled. Gently cleaning out a bowl he used for pie makings. “Well that’s good, cause I would of sworn you were nervous about something.” Time said, his one good eye looking over at twilight. Twilight, having non of it take a wet rag and readies it to whip time with. “Out of my kitchen you!” With a snap of the towel hitting Time on the side. Malon giggling at the scene. Time dodging and giving Twilight a disapproving look. “Oi!” He barked. Malon then stepped in snatching up the towel from Twilight and proceeds to help dry the dishes. “But honestly honey. Why are you nervous?” She asked him. Twilight, looking shy, rubbed the back of his head. “Well this the first time I have everyone who matters to me under one roof.” He spoke softly. She smiled and so did Time. Their boy was something. After some quietness, twilight whipped around, finger pointing at Time and blurts our “one slice, not the whole damn pie this time! It’s bad enough wild has a nasty sweet foodie tooth. Don’t need to look after you on that.” Malon laughed, she knew full well her husband’s sweet tooth. “And what about you though?” She asked, out of curiosity if her son’s habits. “He has a spicy tooth this one has.” Chuckled Time. Malon have a surprised looked. “I blame Wild for that, him and that Goron spice stuff he uses.” Twilight continued.
As the day grew later, the pie was cooling. Malon and Time sitting comfortably, as Twilight disappeared up to the third floor for some space. Time was nose deep in one of Twilight’s books, Malon looking over his shoulder. “You think he is okay?” She asked her husband. Time looked up from the book and then to the third floor. “Yeah, he just an anxious person sometimes. However it tis good to see him in his own space. He is a completely different person. Compared to when he is out with the rest of us Links. I saw it at Lon Lon ranch how at home he felt and he dropped that silly stoic persona.” He explained to his wife. “Even around Wild he can be brash, but he also just drops that and teases the kid.” He chuckled. Twilight then came down from the loft area, wearing a more casual look then the Ordon garb he was sporting. She smiled at how handsome he looked in it. “Ah, so uh ready to get a little larger?” He awkwardly chucked. The looked at each other and nodded. Twilight picked up the pie and they made their way out the door.
Once outside the house and walking into Ordon village. Malon caught that Twilight was not wearing shoes. “He’s not-“ Time pauses her from finishing what she was going to say. “That just him.” The went down past a small stream and then up to a house with the sign that read who lived there. Now Time and Malon were the ones nervous. This would be their first time meeting his adopted family, whom they entrusted to raise their kid. Twilight look back at them as they awkward smiled back at him. He just laughed and rolled his eyes. Opening up the door to the house. “I have brought pie!” He announced. They followed behind him. “Ooo pie! Said a young man, about Twilight’s hieight. He took the pie, then see the two other guest. “Hello?!” He said greeting them. “Ah, yes, this Uh Time and Malon.” Twilight said, introducing them. Rusl step in and stuck his hand out, Time taking it. “Ah, I wondered when I would see you again. Hero of Time.” Rusl had some history with Time back in the day. Uli also popped in and nodded at them both. Then twilight fling and arm around the younger boy. “This would be Colin, not so little anymore. Then there Rusl, and wife Uli.” He paused and looked about. There was a little young girl busy playing with her toys. “Ah, and Saria.” Twilight said smiling. Time softly smiled, in remembering his own Saria. Malon caught that. “Well come on in and make your self comfortable.” said Rusl inviting them in. Twilight close the door. Colin said some words to twilight, which resorted to him getting a light whack on the head by Twilight. Time and Malon took a seat, Uli went about going back to finishing up some cooking. Colin stuck by Twilight’s side as Twilight stood with arms crossed. Rusl offered up some refreshments. Which Time and Malon accepted. Rusl eyed twilight. Who put his hand up to decline. “Well isn’t this something.” Rusl said, finally taking a seat for himself. Twilight feeling uncomfortable, went into the kitchen to help Uli out. “Sure is..” responded Time. Rusl and Time dove into a conversation, catching up on old times.
Twilight every once in a while would sneak in a few words to the conversation. Often some witty or sassy comment. Which resulted in Colin laughing. Rusl laughing as well. Time smiled as well as Malon. “Oi, mr. Goofball.” Rusl joked at Twilight. “Eh?! What?” He replied, helping Uli work on stuffing. “You know Shad published that book about you.” Rusl said looking towards twilight. “Oh Hylia, why?!” Groans Twilight. “Cause you are filled with so much knowledge and probably inspire a few folks out there.” Colin said. Rusl got up and grabbed a book and handed it over to time and Malon. Time set his drink down and opened up the book, flipping through the pages. “I am so proud of this young man. Despite all that he went through, he still holds a light and not super hardened.” Rusl commented. Twilight blushed, Uli chuckled. “We are blessed he is as open as he is with us with things.” She commented on the subject. Time handed the book over to Malon. He picked up his drink and smiled. “Well I hope to see more of that. I think sometimes he forget to relax and just locks himself up.” He explained to Rusl. There was a loud groan from the kitchen. Colin let out another laugh. “Can’t take being gushed over?!” He said while laughing. “Never could.” Rusl continued. Twilight shoots Rusl a look. “It’s uncomfortable, thanks.” And the house erupted in a roar of laughter.
When they all sat down for dinner, they said a little thankful prayer to the goddesses and then dig into the food. Small light conversation happened all around. Time watched at twilight and Colin had their bother like moments. Teasing each other. He also saw very closely how while they all beside colin and Saria, he did not drink any alcohol that was served. He stuck to water. Time turned his attention to Rusl and in a question, “he doesn’t drink?” Rusl looked over at Twilight and then back to Time. “Well, there is a reason to that, as I am sure you have seen with your team. Alcohol effect making smart decisions when in battle and just in life. It was never like that though. There was a point where we saw the darker side of things. He just made a choice to get cleared up. Left to get healed. When he returned, this the person he is now. We are glad, he was not-well you know.” Rusl explained. “Makes total sense, I have a few guys on our team who play dirty when it comes to alcohol. I myself don’t honestly trust myself with it. So this is rare.” Time explained his own personal struggles. Colin’s ears perked up. “Wait dirty games? Like what?” He asked. Twilight eyed Rusl, Time and then back to Colin. Time nodded in the okay. Twilight covered Saria’s ears. “Well Colin, you know how Talo has zero filter about certain subjects? Well we have a few guys in our group whom play games meant to either embarrass us or dig into our sex life.” Colin has fully regretted asking and turned bright red. “My exact feeling colin.” Twilight uncovered Saria’s ears. Rusl just chuckled. Time chuckles as well as Rusl. “Oh my.” Malon states. Twilight stuck a chunk of turkey into his mouth. “They had a go at Time, big mistake. Also thank you, I will never unhear what you said.” He glared at Time who was cackling. “Well your reply was even more beautiful, I do believe warrior will never ask again.” Time added. “What happened?” Asked colin. Twilight rolled his eyes. “Well it’s a bit TMI, but warrior was asking is I even had sex before. I respond with, ‘are you wanting to find out if I screw. I am sorry pretty boy- I would break you.’” He snorted. “Oh the look on his face.” Rusl slapped his hand on the table. “That is brilliant.” Time sipped his drink and chuckled. Malon face was filled with shock. “O-oh my!” Colin just face palmed. Twilight ruffled the boy’s hair.
After they had enjoyed some pie and tea, Twilight went about helping clean up the dishes. Rusl sitting near Time. “He is a good kid.” Time smiled. “You and Uli did a great job with him.” He said in a form of thank you. “Well, it sure wasn’t easy, the kid had some hard times, but he turned out to be this humble person. We just tried to keep him level headed.” Rusl continued. “I am just glad you are being able to spend time with him and watch him to continue to grow.” Time smiles at that statement. “We are ever greatful for that.” Twilight came over finishing up a cup of Tea. Seeing the Three of them looking at him, beaming. He returned a smile back. “I am just greatful the lot of you, so there. Get use to it.” He joked. Time got up, startling Twilight and grabbing him into a tight hug. Twilight, had a hand pressed against Time’s chest. He could feel the old man’s heart beating a mile per hour. He was sure his own heart matched that. After a few moments, Time pulled away and just lifted twilights chin to look at him. “You will be all right.” He spoke softly. Twilight stepped aside, handing his cup of tea to colin and then too the three of them, he signed in Hylian “I love you all.” And gives a beaming grin, taking his tea back and leaving to go pester his little sister. The Three of them, looking after him and then at each other. “Well this some reunion.” -fin.
