One very confident man calmly reaches for his sword, facing a leader among ogre magi who doesn’t bother to set down his cup -- It took me years to notice the third ogre peering over the screen behind the fighter; the 3 oni have little reason to believe the intruder poses any threat (David Sutherland, D&D Monster & Treasure Assortment Set Two: Levels Four-Six, TSR, 1977)

Round 1: Match 91
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the Official Dota 2 website,
With two heads, Ogre Magi finds it possible to function at a level most other creatures manage with one. And while the Ogre Magi will win no debates (even with itself), it is graced with a divine quality known as Dumb Luck--a propensity for serendipitous strokes of fortune which have allowed the ogre race to flourish in spite of enemies, harsh weather, and an inability to feed itself. It's as if the Goddess of Luck, filled with pity for the sadly inept species, has taken Ogre Magi under her wing.
From the Combine Overwiki,
Cave Johnson was the founder of the applied sciences company Aperture Science, and was its CEO until he died as a result of Moon-rock poisoning in the late 1980s.

my writing - dota - fictober day 9
“Sounds like a you problem.” Small eyes kept staring ahead, not bothering to switch focus.
“If it is my problem, it is yours as well.”
An amused snort. “That's what you say.”
“Fucking shit, we share a body! How can anything be a me problem?” A growl that had no effect, though it rumbled menacingly.
“It's a you problem when I say it is.” “And when I say it is our problem?”
“You are wrong.”
Before the discussion could continue, they were interrupted. “If you don't stop arguing, I will be your problem.” The Troll Warlord couldn't stand the constant bickering. It was making him crazy because it never stopped. The Ogre Magi with his two heads was never quiet and the two heads were rarely in agreement.
While the Troll was trying to concentrate, the two voices were like a spear through his head.
The first head directed the words at the second. “Sounds like a you problem as well, because I didn't start this discussion.”
“I'm sure the Troll Warlord makes sure it is our problem.” The second head was more intelligent than the first or simply more perceptive. In any case, they were both annoying. Because they still didn't stop.
For a second, the Troll Warlord debated if he should truly shut the Ogre up. But they were allies, he couldn't kill him and short of killing, nothing would stop the two heads. He lengthened his strides but though the Ogre Magi was clumsy he was tall enough to keep up. Running away didn't work either, it seemed.
Instead, the two heads were arguing again, their voices painfully loud.
No killing, no running away, no threatening, nothing worked. It was time for more desperate measures, preferably something that didn't involve the Troll having to kill himself. While walking, the Troll Warlord searched for the right place. He was becoming more and more desperate. He just wanted the voices to stop. He wanted some quiet. There, finally, his nerves on edge, he found what he had been looking for.
It was a nest, from some kind of bird, but it was huge. It was up in the trees, high enough not to be in the direct line of sight but low enough that the Troll Warlord could reach it with a jump and a bit of climbing. He had to be fast, this could as well go wrong.
“Ogre Magi, look over there, I think I saw movement.” The Troll pointed in the opposite direction of the nest and as soon as the Ogre turned, he slipped behind the tree with the nest.
“Movement? I see nothing.” “That's because you are stupid.”
The Troll Warlord put his axes into his belt, then he jumped and grabbed the lowest branch with both hands.
“Stupidity doesn't make anyone blind, does it?” “You are the living proof that it does.”
The Troll Warlord swung up and onto the branch. The Ogre was still staring into the woods.
“Do you see something?” “No.”
“Then you are stupid, too.” “Maybe there was nothing.”
The Troll Warlord climbed higher.
“But the Troll said there was something.” “His eyes are probably better than yours.”
The Troll Warlord scrambled into the nest and curled together, making himself as small as possible so he wouldn't be visible from the ground.
“Hey, Troll, you sure you...” The Ogre Magi had obviously turned to where the Troll had been standing a few moments before.
“He is gone.” “I can see that.”
“I wasn't so sure, since you seem to be too stupid to see.”
The Troll Warlord closed his eyes and wished that the Ogre would stop talking finally.
At least the head didn't react to the further insult. “Where did he go?” “How should I know?”
“Of course you don't know. We have to find him.” “Yes. We do.”
And then, after what seemed like an eternity, the voices of the Ogre Magi died away. Still the Troll Warlord waited, to be sure. Then he carefully peeped over the edge of the nest. The Ogre was gone. The forest around him was blissfully quiet.
Not caring about how daft it was to hide in a tree to escape an annoying ally, the Troll Warlord hurried in the opposite direction from where the Ogre had gone. He wanted to be as far away from him as possible. And he had absolutely no bad conscience that he had left him alone in this forest. The only emotion he felt at the moment was relief that the voices had stopped.

Kieran from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet would turn into a witch in Puella Magi Madoka Magica!
Cause of Witchification: Was already regarded as an outcast by most of the peers around him, he initially latched on to the player and the fabled "ogre", who was often depicted as the villain in the tale of the Loyal Three, as a beacon of hope. Unfortunately, after overhearing his grandfather revealing the truth behind the Loyal Three and the so-called "monstrous" ogre- and him begging both his sister and the player not to tell him, he believed that the reason why they left him out of this is due to the fact that he was nothing more than a beast- just like how the rest of Kitakami saw Ogerpon, especially with the reveal that it had revealed itself to both Carmine and the player, and not Kieran.
In a desperate attempt at befriending the ogre, he had acquired the teal mask that Ogerpon had dropped during its intial encounter with Carmine and the player; holding on to it and refusing to let go until the player had to defeat him in a pokemon battle. The shock of betrayal and jealousy had turned into an aura of resentment so powerful and toxic that it was akin to that of the poisonous Pecharunt; reviving the Loyal Three from their slumber and allowing them to cause havoc amongst the village once more.
While Ogerpon and the player chased them out, Kieran stayed behind to fix its reputation amongst the people of Kitakami and reveal the truth behind the Lousy Three they had revered for generations. Despite that, Ogerpon had chosen the player to be its trainer; shattering his heart once more by this sense of betrayal and filling its cracks with envy towards the person he believed had ruined his life, the player. After their final battle and watching the player catch Ogerpon, he locked himself in his room and vowed to get stronger- he vowed to take the player down to the depths with him, even if it took every fiber of his being...
Over time, he had turned into an exhausted, bitter, angry shell of his own self; the champion of the Blueberry Academy possessing a crown of thorns and a venomous tongue. Not a hint of hope were behind those eyes- only the hollow pit of bitterness and despair were reflected within them-
At least, that way, nobody could hurt him ever again- he was strong enough to defeat that wretch once and for all and take back his life... until the player waltzed into his line of sight once more, this time for the title of champion...

Warhammer Gaslamp: Peoples of the Old World
Tumblr media
(For Introduction, see here; for Imperial Society, see here; for Geopolitics, see here.)
While the Old World of 2725 IC is dominated by the nations of Men, the non-human species of the world are by no means vanished - although all have seen enormous amounts of change over the last two hundred years.
Although they still maintain their traditional alliance with the Empire of Man, the Dawi of the Old World suffered badly from their pyrrhic victories in the Skaven and Greenskin Wars, to the point where they have begun a slow, inexorable demographic decline - not helped by increasing assimilation into the Empire. Increasingly, the Dawi have begun to coalesce around the master plan of the Great Reckoning, an effort to avenge every single Grudge in the Dammaz Kron in one fell swoop through the creation of an army of 100,000 Slayers. When the last of the Grudges has been satisfied, the sages of Dwarfkind believe that the Ancestor Gods will return and restore their people to their former glory.
Proving that it is truly an ill wind that blows no one any good, the shift in the Aethyr mentioned earlier had a profound influence on the Asur. With the increase in the concentration of Aethyric energy around, Asur born since 2594 have universally developed psykic abilities seemingly independent of their access to the Winds of Khaos, such that the younger generation now primarily speak mind-to-mind, can move themselves and objects with a thought, and much more that was once the exclusive ability of magi. Among many of the Asur, this is seen as a sign of the gods' continual favor, but these new abilities will need to be pressed into service sooner rather than later, as the blessed isle of Ulthuan is gradually sliding beneath the waves....
While their territories in Laurelorn have shrunken dramatically, the territories of the Asrai in Athel Loren remain quite strong in Bretonnia thanks in no small part to their political influence on Forest Law in L'Ancien Régime. As part of an increased level of caution (or paranoia), the Spellsingers embarked in a campaign of educating the entirety of their population in how to magically transport themselves between the remaining forests of the Old World and the spiritual dimension of Underhill, where magic remains strong and the verdant world untouched by hands of men, and to use the Glamour to move undetected in the human world.
[From the 9th Edition Imperial Encyclopedia]: Halflings (noun). A malevolent subspecies of mutant, destroyed in the Great Gene-Purge of 2614.
Life for the Vampire Counts has become increasingly more dangerous and complex. Driven from their seat of power in a vicious war that left much of Sylvania a faintly glowing wasteland of bomb craters and barbed wire, the survivors live on the run from the Imperial Plasmic Survey and the Schwarzmänner, although some vampires and thralls alike can manage to stay one step ahead via falsified blood samples and living in masquerade in the teeming throngs of urban society. Many of the surviving vampires have developed wealthy clients from among the nobility and the haut bourgeoisie, who are willing to risk the attentions of the state in exchange for infusions that extend their lifespans by decades. At the same time, the Vampire Counts are learning how to play politics by Imperial rules...
The Old World has changed, but the Greenskins have not. Although banished beyond the World's Edge Mountains, they still practice their traditional ways of WAAAGH! and generally making a mess of things. However, they have adapted to the age of gunpowder by trading with the Ogres of the East for the 'splody stuff, from the Orkish love of really big shootas and the Goblin fascination with bombs. The Greenskins might wear top hats and call their warleaders Nobz now, but they are still the mad, anarchic bastards who refuse to die.
Despite their defeat in the wars with the dwarfs and the mysterious explosion that engulfed Skavenblight in 2573 IC, the Underempire of the Skaven has adapted to their new circumstances in new and strange ways. While increasing urbanization has allowed the Skaven to spread through the sewers and subway systems of the Empire, they face new competition from the "Untervolk" and the increasingly impressive efforts of the human Technomancers. So instead the Skaven have allied with the Slaaneshi to sell warpstone dust drugs to the stupid stupid man-things, using the financial proceeds and the insidious long-term effects of warpstone dust to weaken humanity from within.

Walt approaches Kenji with a really excited but a bit nervous face.
"Wow, I've n-never saw a P-Pokémon like you. I've overheard y-you did pull the tree WITH YOUR BARE HANDS??? Oh, s-sorry, I've just s-surprised about it. Did you actually pull it?"
Tumblr media
"I'm pretty strong- but there are a few things that are even difficult for me to lift-I usually don't pull them out unless I need to."
"C'mon, Papa!" Aya begged. "Can't you please show them??? PLEEEAAASEEEE???"
Kenji chuckled. "Alright, alright, sure! Why not!"

The Okidogi made his way over to one of the trees in the area and dug his hands into the bark.

Tomo glanced at the Ogerpon, then at everyone else in the area. He made sure to distance himself from Aya and beckoned Poni to follow.

Tomo said in a low whisper. "All you need to know is that most people who live here wouldn't think twice about killing my daughter. I'm sure you can put the rest of the puzzle pieces together yourself."

Miu snapped his fan shut with a sigh. "Honestly, it might be preferred if you stay, rather than leave- but I suppose you can go, as long as you don't tell anyone about us, especially any of the residents on the island."

Elf: It's an ogre! Wizard: How big? Elf: Average, I'd say. Wizard: Say 18 hits. Does an average of 5.5 hits per melee round Cleric: But what if it's an Ogre Magi? Dwarf: ON THE SECOND LEVEL? Don't be a twit!!! Wizard: Lessee, Muriel does about 4.5 points damage per round. Elf: Right! Wizard: Gromel has 17 strength and . . . Dwarf: 18! Wizard: has a +3 Warhammer, so he does 10 hits per round. Marius only has a mace, and does but 3.5 hits . . . Cleric: But I'm only AC 4, and I've only got 7 hits! Dwarf: You go in, or I bust your head! Wizard: and I'll throw Magic Missile, doing an average of 4.5 hits. That's 22.5 per round, and he averages only a quarter of that! Elf: All set? Cleric: But he's on a better table!

Chronicles of Tal’Dun: The Longing
Most people spend their whole lives never touching magick, and some are gripped by it before they ever open their eyes. Is there a place in this world for a child cursed with the hunger of the moons? For a child with a song that wants to be sung? Will they devour one another or find salvation in each other’s embrace?
The world of Tal'Dun is shaped by mysterious forces of the Sea, a power that gives and takes life. Touching its waters brings death to most people, but in rare cases some survive it and become magi. Evin and Near come from very different circumstances, one grew up in a tiny village and stumbled upon magick by accident, and the other was born with it and spent their life locked away in a temple. Despite this, as if pulled together by the currents of the Sea, their paths cross, and now a storm is brewing.
