"I can't remember the name or the author of said fanfic(s) that I liked but basically, the plot was Julian taking DNA samples from Odo when he was stuck in solid form and somehow combining Odo's DNA with Kira's so they could have children together. I don't know if that is possible in the actual Trekverse, but I did find it cute and sweet of fanfic Julian to do so. Also, Odo got to have kids of his own, which is something he wanted, and his kids with Kira got to have a safer, happier childhood than their mother's. Overall, I wish this fic had been actual canon."
We all know that the DS9 writers obviously had favorites *COUGH COUGH O’BRIEN COUGH COUGH* when it came time to emotionally invoke the audience, but I don’t think we talk about Odo enough…
Sure, his name literally means “nothing” and he was experimented on in a lab during his upbringing and he was practically forced to betray his people during the Dominion War (he was even the first Changling to kill another) and he had his abilities taken from him as punishment and he was given a disease to spread to the entire Link (almost making him responsible for a Changling genocide)… buts that’s not what I’m getting at.
As if all of that wasn’t sad enough, they just had to make him hopelessly in love with Kira. Odo had to watch her bonds with Bareil, Shakaar, Julian, and even O’Brien, believing that she’d probably never love him because of who he was and how unlikeable he seemed. And after all of that, Kira was still oblivious to Odo’s feelings for her. It took Vic to finally get them together!!
And they still went their separate ways in the end…
A DS9 button/sticker set that I've been working on for the past few weeks, that I soon plan on getting made to have available for the 2024 con season. What a fun little gang of space rascals.
The most underrated episode about Quark and Ofo is probably "His Way" in season 6 when Odo opens up to Quark about Kira and he says that Odo is cold rigid and remote.
Now that I think about it, Quark is the one person who truly gets Odo. All jokes and schemes aside, Quark is indeed the closest thing Odo has to a friend.
The episode also has a gem of a moment shared between Odo and Sisko. ❤️
"Positive confession: even though I am a Kira/Odo shipper, I can also see why people prefer to ship Odo/Quark. I think their dynamic is fun and the actors had really good chemistry together. Also the fan artwork is pretty awesome as well."
So many of my OTPs are couples where one person is adamant they do not love, need or want anybody ... and change their minds after finding the ONLY person they love, need, and want ....
