I've been on the verge of an anxiety induced breakdown for at least 6 hours now so I'm gonna talk about my gw2 characters and breakdown some story stuff for my own sake

Haukur - Goes to the Norn personal story event as support for Lydia, ends up gaining a reputation as a hero by stopping some undercover Svanir from kidnapping some very drunk Norn men. Gains the attention of Eir through this.

Lydia - The slayer of Issormir. She took part in it out of a desire to start her legend and be like Eir, a personal crush hero. She was incredibly proud of her cousin (Hau) for saving people even if he only came to "make sure someone was there to fix whatever bone she broke being boneheaded"

Runa - Gatherer of Norn lore, she was dragged to the event by some colleagues. She spent her time there learning stories from any elders or shaman that told tales. Knows of both Lydia and Hau now.

Eir takes both cousins under her wings, seeing them as fledgling heroes for different reasons. This leads to Lydia realizing being a hero isn't as Fun as she thought it was going to be, while Hau steps up to the challenge (whether he likes it or not). Eventually this leads to Hau becoming the Pact Commander, while Lydia finds herself in a bodyguard role, protecting people and volunteering for jobs she knows should end well/be easy within the Priory and the Pact.

Runa, meanwhile, ends up talking to Synin (or my character equivalent of her. she belongs to my DM and honestly I doubt I could ever properly emulate her but that weird old woman (beloved) in DND is the inspiration for this character at the very least) and being taken on as her apprentice. Synin is possibly going to be a replacement for the Raven havroun. Not sure yet. Either way, Runa's desire to find Norn knowledge lost in Jormag's encroachment on Norn territories leads to her studying under a religious and mystical student of Raven.

I'm still working on the exact details but Runa survived the Fear Eater (my version of the BK from IBS that's a demon/mythic creature of the Norn as opposed to the fucked up thing Anet did (FE is a filler name for now to avoid the use of That Word)) attacking her village. Her research motivation is twofold, she both wants to restore the lost history and culture of her people *and* try to find out as much as she can about this creature that hunts in the shadows. See if it can be killed. (Spoiler: She learns an ancient banishment ritual at some point, leading to the strike mission in the game as part of the main story)

Lydia level up! Her ice powers seem to be coming back...

With his kids, the relationship was somewhat strained because they were all fairly independent - taking so much after their mother. To the point where his brain could not compute why they weren't liking him.

I mean, he created them! They had to like him.

Not knowing the reason they enjoyed being with Elspeth was because Elspeth is a good parent.

I feel like Lydia would have been the most butch of the kids, so in some ways, yes?

But also, there would be that level of "this kid isn't my own dna" that he may never be able to get past.

So, while I feel that Richard would have a good relationship with Lydia had she survived, there would definitely be some sort of... thing keeping them from having a fully normal father-child relationship.

Caspian(he/him): He’s the main character. An expert merchant on the verge of retirement. A modest man who's never seen without wearing a robe. Hardly says a word to anyone other than close family and fellow coworkers. Got his ship stolen by a gang of female pirates. Generally thinks Angel is sus. 53 years old Imogen(she/her): Butterfly themed pirate girl who was the one that stole Caspian’s ship. Very mean and scary and will burn your house down. Does not like anyone that’s apart of the “Upper Class” of her society. 17 years old. Lydia(she/they): Very androgynous pirate girl who only went along with her childhood friends swashbuckling adventures cuz they suck at everything else. Clumsy and a bit of a goof. Very dumb of ass and is generally kind. 16 years old. Angel(they/them, rarely he/him): Flamboyant, chaotic, and generally an asshole. Was orphaned from a young age and raised by some weird blacksmith. Has built and owns a mechanical dragon they named Raya. Makes decisions and doesn't care about whether or not it’s lawful. They struggle to get along with Caspian and Lydia. Fire elemental. In their early to mid 20s. Zephyr(he/him): Caspian’s son. Loves the merchant business and has chosen to learn the ways of the job and to protect his father from a very young age. Has the tendency to find a way to use anything as a weapon. Generally the only one that can actually stand to be around Angel. Wind elemental. 22 years old.

I’m thinking of merging some of my eight other human human ocs to be apart of this verse, too( Niko, Justin, Sam, and Carmen. Ash, Charles, Carol, and Maia can stay in the modern verse)

Lydia loves her crew so, so much. I came up with little ways she'd think of everyone and my heart is going crazy......

Ira - my confidante. Ira is a very serious kind of girl - some might even call her emotionless. Really though, she's just straight to the point. Lydia finds she's often on the same wavelength as Ira, and that Ira isn't afraid to tell it to her straight when she might be in the wrong. Ira's work as Inspector of the Dead makes her objective, too. Not only does Lydia find her to be calming company, she's also exactly the person she needs to hear from when she's stuck in a rut.

Desdemona - my motivation. Dez is passionate and impulsive, their blood burning hot in their veins. Lydia, by contrast, is cool and calculating, always thinking of the steps ahead and trying to move in sneaky ways her opponents never expect. However, caution and inaction aren't always separate entities, and the action-loving Dez is just bold enough to blurt out whatever it is they think Lydia should be doing. They're so earnest on top of it all - Lydia finds it hard not to be inspired by their indomitable spirit.

Verne - my reprieve. Verne and Lydia have been besties for years. She means this literally, of course, in that he often accompanies her to political events so she doesn't have to bring an actual date, but also...he's a fun, easygoing guy. When she needs to destress and refocus her energy, he always knows how to get her mind off of things. He makes her feel like a person, and it grounds her.

Archibald - my hope. Archie is an idealist at heart, a sensitive soul. Even though his inventions often end in disaster, he always goes back to the drawing board to figure out what went wrong. He believes he can improve. He believes everyone and everything can improve. He truly believes there are solutions to everything somewhere in the world. When Lydia feels like she's stuck in the dark and dreary reality of the world, Archie can send a mechanical ladybug her way and remind her that hope can be everywhere.

Lavinia - my sister. This is literal, true, but it's also much more than that. The two have been inseparable since the beginning, rarely getting under each other's skin the way a lot of sisters do. When their mother died, they became even closer, leaning on each other and protecting each other from the sudden onslaught of money-hungry stepmom-hopefuls, as well as the general grief of a bereaved noblewoman. They are each other's secret strength, a silent support behind the curtain for them to lean on when everything seems so hopeless.

And together....they're her family <3
