Honestly would absolutely love it if the Percy Jackson show incorporated some of the songs from the Percy Jackson Musical into their instrumentals. Imagine how awesome that'd be.

He couldn’t believe it. Honestly, he couldn’t breathe once he got the phone call that you had been in a car accident. Were you okay? Christian didn’t know at the moment, but as soon as he found out what hospital you were at, he was there in a heartbeat, asking any and every person in scrubs and doctor coats where you were.
Once the nurse at the desk told him, he lied and said he was your husband when she asked what his relationship was to you. He knew they wouldn’t let him see you just yet unless he was your immediate family. Did he care that he lied to the sweet nurse? Nope. Did he feel guilty about it? Absolutely not.
Christian waited patiently, well as patiently as he could, as you slept off the adrenaline from a few hours ago. He looked your body over, his breath hitching as he noticed each cut and bruise along with the stitches you had received. He didn't know the details but that didn't matter, it just mattered that you were alive and it didn’t look like you were too seriously injured.
An hour after Christian entered your hospital room, you started to stir, slowly moving your arms, eyes fluttering open only to be met with Christian’s concerned blue ones. “Hey. Hey baby, how are you feeling?” He whispered, not wanting to be too loud in case your head hurt. You reached your hand out to hold his hand, but you were stopped by Christian slipping your hand into his once he noticed what you were attempting to do.
“Sore.” You managed to answer him in a hoarse voice. It was in that moment you realized just how dry your throat really was. “Will you get me some water?” You whispered, hoping the soft tone of voice would help your throat.
You felt Christian give your hand a gentle squeeze before answering, “Of course I can, love. I’ll be right back. I love you.” He wanted you to know he loved you, and he felt the need to say it after knowing he could have lost you, the love of his life, the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.
Christian quickly tracked down a bottle of water and a straw and began making his way back to your room just as quickly as he left. He slipped into your room, not noticing the doctor and nurse present until the doctor began speaking after reading over your chart. He stopped moving momentarily to listen closely to the doctor until you reached towards him for the water. He opened the bottle and straw for you, dropping the straw in to the water before handing it to you.
“Well, it looks like you were a very lucky lady because you won’t be needing any surgery. I just need you to stay for the next couple days for observation and to receive further treatment for your injuries.” The doctor informs you and Christian. “If you need anything just let us know. We’ll check back with you later on today, but in the meantime, get some rest.” You nodded, taking a sip of your water. You were thankful Christian thought to get you a straw, it made drinking so much easier since you were hooked up to an IV and the monitor displaying your vitals, all the cords caused you to keep getting your arm tangled up in them.
The next couple days were spent with Christian waiting on you, willing to go get you snacks and drinks from the nearby vending machine, taking a walk down to the cafeteria to get you ice cream, jello, or pudding if you had a craving for any of them. Sometimes when you would move your arm a certain way the machine you were hooked up to would go off causing Christian to jump up concerned every time, only for you to ask him to help you untangle your arm. Sometimes your leg would bother you and again, Christian was quick ask you if you needed anything or needed the nurse, sometimes you would and sometimes you wouldn’t. Nevertheless, Christian was there all day, everyday to ensure you were taken care of, despite you telling him to go home and you would be fine, but he wasn’t having it, always refusing to leave you.
The day you were allowed to go home was such a relief. You were tired of the hospital, you missed your bed, you missed the comfort of your house, you missed your food, you missed your clothes — specially your comfy pajamas — you missed it all.
You’ll never forget the sense of relief you felt when Christian pulled his car into your driveway — you were home, you were finally home. Christian helped you out of the car and you waited for him to hand you the crutches the doctor sent you home with to use, but you gasped when you were lifted off the ground. “What are you doing?! Put me down! You’ll hurt yourself, I need to get used to the crutches anyways.” You scolded your boyfriend, but of course, he wasn’t listening as he continued to carry you bridal style to your front door and setting you down only long enough to open the door with the spare key you gave him three months ago. He picked you back up and carried you with ease to the couch, thinking you were probably tired of laying in a bed. He stacked your decorative couch pillows on the coffee table for you to prop you leg up on. He handed you the remote and insisted you relax with your favorite show while he brought in your crutches and belongings from his car.
You went to speak, but he was already out the door. You didn’t mind him taking care of you when your sick because it was small things you liked for him to do for you, but this? You didn’t want him to wear himself out taking care of you since you couldn’t do much of anything.
You watched him re-enter your home with all your things, noticing, that despite how much he insisted on waiting on you until you were better, he looked absolutely exhausted. That’s when it hit you, you never really saw him truly rest and sleep while staying in the hospital with you. He could deny his exhaustion all he wanted, but you saw the signs — heavy eyes, sagging shoulders, his movements had become slower. Carrying everything did help any either, you heard him breathe deeper and sigh more, hand running over his face. This is exactly what you didn’t want, it’s what you hated seeing. Christian was so focused on taking care you that he was forgetting to take care of himself in the process.
“Hey babe, come ‘ere.” You called him over with seemingly innocent intentions, but you were going to make him rest one way or another and what better way than sucker him into cuddling with you? The answer is none.
“What do you need, love?” He asked, doing his best to suppress a yawn but failing miserably. You heard him yawn as his footsteps grew closer.
“Come cuddle with me.” You gave him your best puppy eyes and reached your hands out for his. “You need to take a break. I don’t need anything right now expect for you.”
Christian didn’t put up a fight, letting you take his hands in yours and pull him down onto the couch next to you. Once comfortable, he draped his arm over your shoulders and you instinctively laid your head over on his shoulder. You both let out a sigh of contentment. It was only a matter of minutes before the both of you were fast asleep.
You wished you could have continued to lay there but you woke up desperately needing to use the bathroom, with your doting boyfriend still passed out on the couch next to you, you attempted to slip out and go relieve your bladder by yourself. The second you moved just the slightest to get up, Christian felt it. “Where do you think you’re going? Whatever you need I’ll get it.” He insisted like you knew you would if he woke up.
“I appreciate that but you can’t help me with what I need at the moment.” You giggled at his half awake state and insistence. “I’m in dire need to pee, if you must know.” You filled him in, giggling as you nudged him gently with your elbow.
Christian laughed, “Maybe not but I can at least help you to the bathroom.” He offered once again.
“Nope. You rest. I can make it with the crutches.” You stood hobbling on your good leg until you could grab the crutches and head out the living room and down the hall. Once done you returned to the living, Christian has passed back out asleep. You opted to sit in your comfy recliner and propped your leg up, you weren’t really sleepy anymore so you flipped through your phone, checking your social media before playing a couple different games, then pulling up the new show you’ve been binge watching for the past couple weeks. Christian still out like a light.
A couple hours passed, and you were getting hungry. You were sure what exactly you wanted because everything was starting to sound good. Hamburgers, pizza, salad, chicken nuggets, French fries, grilled cheese, tacos, pasta, all of it sounded delicious. You were too busy thinking about food to notice Christian had woken up until he commented on your growling stomach, causing you to jump in surprise. “You have that look like you can’t decide what you want.” He knew you all too well and you nodded your head.
“I think I want a grilled cheese. Oh! Or maybe some chicken tacos! Yeah, chicken tacos sound so good and some cheese dip.” Your mouth was watering just at the thought.
“As you wish!” Christian exclaimed, dramatically with a grin. You couldn’t help but giggle at his reference to one of your favorite movies. He grabbed his phone and called in your order and adding his as well. Noticing the time, Christian exited the living room only to return shortly with a bottle of water and your medicine. “Here. Time to take your medicine, and we should probably change your bandage out.” He tells you, handing you the water and medicine before digging out the clean roll of bandages. You take the medicine as instructed, admiring how insistent Christian is to take care of you.
“You know, I need to be doing all this so I have a routine for when you go back to work. I don’t want to forget something important.” As much as you appreciated your boyfriend taking care of you, you knew he would have to leave for work in roughly three days.
Christian stopped you before you had the chance to add anything else. “Baby, I’m not leaving you until you’re one hundred percent, and don’t try to change my mind. I already talked to Tony Kahn about it when you were still in the hospital and he said to take all the time I needed, so you’re not getting rid of me so fast.” He placed a kiss to the top of your head then moved to change your bandage.
You had known the entire time you had been dating Christian that he cared about you and loved you, but it wasn’t until this car accident that left you struggling to get around and feeling like a burden that you realized just how much he truly loved and cared about you, never letting you lift a finger (unless he was asleep and you managed to sneak off), or always asking you if you needed anything, or if you wanted to talk about what happened or just anything really. He wanted you to know he meant every word and to show you how much you meant to him. You were already thinking of ways to repay him and show him just how loved and appreciated he was, and each one of those ideas ended with the two of you in the bedroom.

I. Arknights OSTs Top 20 of Eve's Favourite Songs for December 2023
So me and momma Eve listened to some Arknigths OSTs together while I was stiching in the living room today and because it was an auto run on YT I ended up listening to some songs I have not heard before.
Which ultimately tilted the scales of which songs I do and do not like really really much right about now. My phone's been blasting the same 11 songs as well for a while, so I need to actually look into a playlist that's catered to me and me alone.
Since there's a limit of 10 about video links I'm gonna start simple and get into the frisky and unexpected.
We start with the obvious, 1. Ständchen - Ebenholz Theme Has been since coming out and will probably always be my favourite one. I love everything about it from the music to the lyrics and I have probably sang it 10 000 times to myself like a ghost in my apartment with its wallowing death song on its lips for all eternity. Thank you Ambience Synthesia for also playing it, I crode.
youtube
2. Settle Into Ash - Hoederer OST HOEDERER MY BEAUTIFUL DARLING HUSBAND MY LOVE THE APPLE OF MY EYE THE MARROW OF MY BONE THE BLOOD IN MY HEART MY MOST GORGEOUS, TENDER, JADED AND TORMENTED DARLING THE CHARMER THAT HAS STOLEN MY BREATH AND MY SOUL THANK YOU FOR EXISTING YOUR THEME IS THE GREATEST EVER I CRY EVERY TIME I HEAR IT BEGIN
youtube
3. Silver Lining - Silverash OST Well... Found it today on accident although it turned out it was on my old favourites list I had absolutely forgotten about it and am now going to spam play it as I think about all the ways I can make this fanfic between Dr. Eve and SilverAsh work in ways that will not cause me nervous impairment.
youtube
4. Stainless Heart - Stainless OST Also heard it today for the first time. Absolute banger.
youtube
Tumblr media
Dr. Kryo agrees with me on that one, of course.
5. Прощание - Hellagur's OST It's one of the songs up there with Lullabye that are in Russian and I have been singing them to myself coming form and going to Uni because I really like them and my neighbours are Russian speakers so I wonder how much they think I am being weird. And how much they think I could understand them... which I can, but a very tiny bit.
youtube
6. Bluish Light - Lumen OST Got reminded of this yesterday when Leaff asked about Lumen, having found his art somehow somewhere. He's baby, my trusted medic, baby boy muah muah
youtube
7. Ensheath - Mlynar OST In honour of Dr. Lundi I played it a lot to myself and after crying twice over how raw it is I decided to add it to the list. I love it a lot.
youtube
8. Stained - Executor the Ex Foedere (Exalter) OST Don't listen to it too often now, but I did over the summer. Another honourable Dr. Lundi mention. I'm gonna be buried under the church in the upcoming week, why not remind myself the complete wreck this theme makes of me.
youtube
9. Lessing - Lessing OST I can't wait to have you in my hands.
youtube
10. Blade Catcher - Degenbrecher OST All of China and the US know I am horny for this woman simply because of that one image where she's got her hands all bloody on the train. My sense of self-preservation has been stun-locked.

songs on my personal Vivia vibes playlist you might enjoy
Worst Case Scenario - The Hoosiers Skeleton Appreciation Day in Vestal, N.Y. (Bones) - Will Wood Bring Out Your Dead - Skittish Ghosting -Mother Mother Crow on The Snow - Confused Crow
idk if crow on the snow would be on spotify cause it's from a pretty small band, but it as worth mentioning
Thank you for all the song recommendations! Always a pleasure to listen to songs I haven't heard before; helps to broaden my horizons even more!
Worst Case Scenario - As soon as I heard the lyric "You'd be happier instead if you'd stayed in bed" I thought to myself 'yep that's Vivia.' Other than that, this whole song aligns with him wonderfully and is also a certified banger!
Skeleton Appreciation Day - The inclusion of piano gives this one bonus points! I've only listened to a select few of Will Wood's songs so far, but I love the joyous uncanniness of this band's songs.
Bring Out Your Dead - Can't help but enjoy slow burn songs like this, like dancing alone in a grand hall. Adore the duet vocals, too!
Ghosting - I've passed by some Mother Mother songs, I've never listened to them too much cause I can sometimes get intimidated by popular bands. However, I do enjoy what I have listened to of their work! This song's a new one to me, but it's very lovely and fitting!
Crow On The Snow (it's on Spotify!) - Absolutely beautiful instrumental and vocal harmonies, reminds me of my time in choir. And of course the crow symbolism is great! I could fall asleep to this song honestly, it's so sweet and peaceful. That's what makes it extra Vivia-coded heh.

Thoughts on Uprising Ep8 “The Reward”
- (pre-viewing note: is this the episode where a program nearly gets drawn and quartered?? I remember this vividly from 10 years ago but it hasn’t popped up yet…..) (note from later: APPARENTLY IT IS!!! OKAY THEN.)
- I haven’t mentioned this yet, but the recaps before each episode are a fucking delight. it’s like a full-on course in double meaning and irony and the delivery is just *chef’s kiss* I know there’s a button to skip the recaps but they’re so fun I usually watch them anyway…….
- cold open: it’s pretty obvious from early on that this is a dream, and I did not realize/remember that programs dreamed! this is useful information for fic-writing, thank you show. the content of the dream itself is a little disturbing, mostly from the way the Renegade is just ragdolling around while Tesler ineffectively tries to fight him. it’s honestly a great way to display Tesler’s insecurities, and very effective at that.
- Tesler has got a good point—they’re wasting too many resources on tracking down the Renegade; they might as well outsource the bulk of the work. his speech in the arena is very effective; Henriksen is a great VA for him, and honestly Tesler is pretty effectively terrifying as the main villain of the series. (nitpick: the “RENEGADE FREE ARGON” sign during Tesler’s speech needs a fricking hyphen after “Renegade.” Though in a delicious twist of irony, the Renegade is trying to free Argon, so without the hyphen there’s a delightful double meaning in there.)
- related to the speech, Tesler wishes the programs of Argon “Happy Hunting” which made me think of Janelle Monae’s song “Violet Stars Happy Hunting!!!” from her first Metropolis album. It is a banger of a song, and it also got me to thinking about whether there are bounty hunters on the Grid at all?? Like, given the Renegade issue in Argon alone, there must be other enemies of the state that Clu wants eliminated, right? (but then that digs into the whole issue of currency on the Grid, which there is no mention of AT ALL and argh) but that’s just my brain running away from me……
- semi B plot with Paige and Pavel (tho I’ll be honest, this ep is all A plot): Paige is doing her job, Pavel is being paranoid, though his paranoia may be slightly justified. also we got Bartik and Hopper hanging around again, and these guys still baffle the fuck out of me, especially Bartik??? But I’ve gone over that like three times now, so I’ll let it lie for now. and it’s absolutely no surprise that Pavel’s being sneaky about things… ugh.
- also the whole neighbor turning on neighbor thing that we see here is… a little disturbing, for a Y7 show??? maybe not, I don’t have a good gauge for these things. it just seems a little reminiscent of some parts of history, to me? I don’t know. (mind you, with the Scars episodes up next, I’ll have plenty to talk about in re: appropriateness for 7 year olds……) (don’t remember much about Scars, but I do remember the fucking TORTURE SCENES)
- meanwhile, it’s nice to see Beck actually hanging out with his friends for once (and also nice that Zed calls him on the fact that he has not been hanging with them very much recently) (ya gotta get a better work-work-life balance there, kiddo) it is nice that Tron deferred to his judgement on what they needed to do about the hunt for the Renegade (and I loved Beck’s “finally he listens to me” reaction….) tho it kind of sucks that their favorite club has turned into an army hangout….
- and then we have a one-scene, one-minute character in Gorn! who fascinates me to no end. apparently memory modifications are possible, but it’s a specialized task that takes a steady hand and a good deal of patience. which Pavel of course lacks. anyway, what a fascinating one-off character; kind of hoping she pops up again at some point…..
- I love that Beck and Paige are approaching this whole “Hopper’s the Renegade!” thing from two completely different angles, both arriving at the same truth (albeit for very different reasons…) Beck’s smooth moves getting in with Link are hilarious, for one, and Paige actually like…. listening to people is cool of her, and another indicator of her complex character.
- and then MARA FUCKS UP REAL BAD HOLY SHIT GIRLLLLLL. Mind you, Tesler’s already in a prickly mood, so it’s no surprise (also considering what he did to Paige’s friends way back when) that he decides to execute Zed and Mara as sympathizers… tho I find it hilarious because literally the previous episode Zed was complaining about how the Renegade is a menace to society, etc. I also like that Mara and Zed are trying to do the right thing even though neither of them like Hopper very much. good on them.
- further notes on the public execution: okay, so it’s more drawing and thirding than drawing and quartering, but nonetheless. (also file under things I’m surprised they got away with putting in a Y7 show…..) love that Beck has a growing history of grand theft auto, what with stealing the roadster from Link to save his friends (and Hopper). the sequence where Beck swoops in to save everyone is really neat, too. that missile gun of Pavel’s was kind of terrifying tho….
- also it is kinda tragic that Beck got to spend time with his friends… but also not. poor kid.
- and re: Zed/Mara - this crush thing between the two of them is going to KILL ME, I swear!!!!!!!! USE YOUR WORDS, KIDS. IT AIN’T THAT HARD!!!!
- all in all: pretty fun episode, though not necessarily a lighter one…..
I may or may not get to Scars (both parts) tonight, we’ll just have to see………….

Alright!!! I'm gunna be saying some spoilers so beware that lol
Okay so if u don't wanna see em then you shoulda scrolled for you life by now so here I go!
Tumblr media
Alrighty, so Frontiers is AMAZING!!! Nearly everything about it felt so wonderful. Sonic himself just feels so good to control again. He has good weight while in the air and his running speed, even at level 1, feels controllable yet so wildly fun! They really nailed it with his movement, not to mention Air Tricks™️✌️ are back and are still rad as hell!
The story was also really fun to watch!!! Now Ian Flynn has a...questionable reputation on here but def not as negative to the previous writers and most, if not ALL scenes were an absolute joy to see, I had a goofy ass grin during nearly every part, the Eggmemos were perfect. Just perfect. Some parts kinda paled but the overall story was incredible to play through! Not to mention, just the character interactions were 👌.
Tumblr media
My only real gripes with the story are that we reaaaaally needed some more of Eggsy being a pops to Sage, not that what we have already is bad, but c'mon it woulda been perfect to see more! Also...ngl. The scene of Sage feeling sad when seeing Sonic and Tails that cuts to her memories 100% woulda benefitted if they were unique new cutscenes created for the sole purpose of this particular scene instead of just reusing the previous ones. Still great tho.
Tumblr media
As for the game itself, my gripes aren't entirely huge. Cyberspace Overall, isn't terrible, but the changed control/movement felt so stiff and restraining at times compared to the fluid and fun overworld controls, not to mention some of the time limits were a bit much but that's more of my own skill issue lol. It makes sense for the context of this game but I'm not sure if I'd like to see it return. Another gripe would be that post-game, not a whole lot to do other than battle some guys and fishing aka the best part. Also....no unlockable cosmetics....✊️😔...
Tumblr media
The music is just fucking flawless. As I'm writing all this down I've been listening to Undefeatable this past hour. I'm Here is my personal favorite and owd is my least fav of all of the songs but good god every song is a banger. I can't say much else cause they're all fucking bangers lmao
Tumblr media
Fishing stomps every other aspect of the game 100/10
Tumblr media
Okay....so the boss fights are FANTASTIC!!!! And yes while Supreme™️ isn't as unique compared to the previous ones and its basically just a slightly fancier version of Giganto, it still managed to be fun. Plus. C'mon. I'm Here alone managed to give it a good rep to me. This was all marvelous.....eeeexcept The End. Look the rail shooter minigame was neat on its own but This being the "reward" for playing on Hard Mode is an incredibly disappointing part of the game. The dialogue was cool ig but still. It feels nothing like a reward and just like a last second addition. Nonetheless that failure doesn't take away the pure enjoyment from every other boss!!! Super Sonic feels sublime that no matter which one, they're all an absolute treat!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So entirely, while no game shall ever be perfection (and this goes for every single game in existence let's be honest), this wasn't just a solid experience, not just an okay time, This was an Amazing game! A well deserved 9.5 outta 10!!! This is all my opinion of course but hey feel free to throw tomatoes at me if ya agree or disagree. Every aspect just felt fantastic, especially the cool combat system that just controls wonderful and innovative.
As for where the series heads from now on, no idea. Hopefully they do unlockable cosmetics next time. And confirm Sonic as bi. That's most of what I got to say this time!!! Have a great rest of the week and a good day everyone! ✌️!

Here’s my thoughts on Pebble Brain under the cut even though I know no one cares, just wanted to write it all out for my sake lmao
Changed list:
1) Perfume & It’s All Futile! It’s All Pointless! (they’re too good to decide)
2) Concrete
3) The Fall
4) Oh Yeah, You Gonna Cry
5) Model Buses
6) You’ll Understand When You’re Older
Oh Yeah, You Gonna Cry (#4): I’m gonna be repeating myself when I say it’s soooo goooood. In Wilbur’s “Songs We Listened To When Writing Pebble Brain” playlist the song “A-Punk” by Vampire Weekend is on it and I can absolutely hear it in this one. God, just the vibe of the entire album is immaculate, perfect summer with best friends vibes. Also it’s so cheeky I fucking love it.
Model Buses (#5): Love love LOVE the instrumentation of this one, especially the funky bass (Ash you wonderful lad)!! I love the mix of how you can dance like crazy to this one, but also just casually vibe to it, I totally get why it’s James’ favorite lmao
Concrete (#2): THE COUNT IN AT THE START GETS YOU SO PUMPED! AND THE DRUUUUUMS MARK YOU KING. I ADORE this song. The lyrics are so fun, and the chorus is so goddamn catchy!! I really like LoveJoy songs where the vocals are more sing-songy. Like where more riffs or longer notes are allowed and they can really show off their vocals, if that makes sense. Just GOD WHAT A BANGER.
Perfume (#1): PERFUME MY BELOVED. Right off the bat I want to thank TommyInnit for saving this song because how THE FUCK could they dare even consider dropping it. (/lh) Again, the goddamn instrumentation my love. THE DROP BEFORE THE CHORUS SWEET JESUS IT’S SO GOOD. You KNOW I’m gonna be screaming these lyrics till the end of time. Oh my god, the ending, THE FUCKING ENDING. LOVEJOY HOW COULD YOU EVER THINK OF DROPPING THIS IT’S SO GOOD I’M IN LOVE WITH IT DEAR GOD. That note he sings??!?! It’s so good, there’s nothing else to say, fucking legendary.
You’ll Understand When You’re Older (#6): This one also really holds “A-Punk” vibes for me and surprise surprise, I love it. For me it’s like the “Cause For Concern” of this album, which of course is in no way a bad thing (they’re all good songs there’s no such thing as a bad one.) It’s a lot more instrumental/story-based and I really like that. Also, the “and if you think that it gets better” line just MMMM
The Fall (#3): THE FUCKING EVERYTHING WITH THIS SONG OKAY. Right off the bat instrumentation is off the charts holy shit. I just love the creativeness of this song, y’know? Like it’s so vastly different, and the stuff with the vocals, the shouting, the way the music cuts off, cuts back in IT’S SO NEAT. Not to mention how much of a jam it is. It’s so cool and feels super experimental compared to the rest AND I ADORE IT PLEASE MORE LIKE THIS. The ending man, THE ENDING.
It’s All Futile! It’s All Pointless (#1): Completely and utterly biased but BEST SONG OF ALL TIME THE GREATEST THING TO EVER BE MADE. It’s All Futile was always my favorite Maybe I Was Boring song, so as soon as we found out it was getting remade I was PUMPED. AND I HAD EVERY RIGHT TO BE. Dude, the contrast between Wilbur alone with his guitar and just EVERYTHING in this song is SO AMAZING. I’ve always loved the lyrics, the chorus, just everything AND THE ENDING HOLY SHIT. Best song, forever, you can never change my mind.
Overall, best album ever, I’m in love, dear god it was everything I could’ve wanted and more lmao. Also, with the overall EP, I really like the stuff they’re doing with vocals! All of it between the screaming, the bits where the music cuts leaving just the voice, the echoy parts in “The Fall”, the shouting repetition, just ALL OF IT. It’s so neat and different and I can just picture us all screaming it at a concert. That, and the songs feel so much more personal this time, y’know? Like, not in a sad way, but the story is a lot clearer in each song and I love it god this album is so good props to everyone y’all killed it once again.

Good Girls 4x05 Soundtrack Review
Lmao yes you read that right... 4x05.
Songs that made me feel things?
This is gonna be a surprise to anyone who knows how I felt about the S3 instrumental score... but oh my god the echoey, pulsating score that takes over the background music at the diner when Rio shows up moments after Phoebe/Dave walk in and Beth’s internally panicking?! It reminded me of the ringing in Beth’s ears at the bar in 3x02/3x03 and it made me feel a LOT of things. Like, every muscle in my body was clenched because of the tension it added. My ass has never looked better.
Montage check! A wasted or taken soundtrack opportunity?
The opening sort-of-montage with Beth waiting for Rio and Phoebe/Dave getting her all wired up was paired with a mellow cover of ‘Louie, Louie’ by The Sandpipers. I can’t explain why, but it v much worked for me?! But then. THEN. We got THE BANKER MONTAGE. With an extremely ~taken~ soundtrack opportunity, which leads me to...
Bop/banger status?
BANGER CITY, POPULATION: BANKER BITCH.
Tumblr media
Any memorable songs?
I mean, i haven’t stopped listening to ‘Mommy Can’t Sleep’ or thinking about Beth strutting around to it since 4x05 aired so!!!
Fave song from the episode?
I’LL LET YOU GUESS
*(but also, honorable mention to the score because I’m obsessed with what it did for the diner scene)
Least fave song from the episode?
I can’t name a single song from this ep that I disliked and I think that victory alone is worth not choosing a least fave!
How did the music fit with the episode’s ~vibe~?
EXTREMELY VIBE-Y. I don’t know what shifted, but every song worked with the scene it was paired up with in 4x05. Even the 60s-esque song choices (note: the ‘Louie, Louie’ cover is actually from the 60s, while ’Feel Good’ is from 2013, and ‘The Beacon’ is from 2020) fit the episode’s mood. AND we got a song in French, which I’m an absolute sucker for—especially since it was paired with Beth actively stepping back into a crime role.
I know I’ve given myself a bit of an ‘obsessed-with-bops-and-bangers-only’ reputation, BUT. That’s just because I miss their frequency. My obsession with the Good Girls soundtrack runs DEEP (so much so that, if you ever look at Tunefind for songs, I’ve written many of those scene captions hahaha I need a hobby). That said though, when I think of the gg soundtrack overall (depending on the episode/season, of course), it’s a perfect balance of:
bops/bangers
anything alternative/indie
French tunes
mega-FEELINGS!!-type songs
(S1/S2 had more hip-hop/rap, which I miss—but idk, I think the show’s vibe has shifted away from that). This is all basically to say: I LOVE that we still get the occasional song in French. It just...makes sense.
Wishlist/Manifest-The-Songs-You-Want List
Still waiting on a song that hits an emotional level that we haven’t reached in a v long time (a la ‘Walk Away’). And as always, some sort of alternative bop (like ’Something For Your M.I.N.D.’-adjacent)!
Overall ranking:     MHMM YEP FEELIN’ IT/10
Episode Track Listing:
Louie, Louie - The Sandpipers Bossa Nova Baby - Teddy Gold, Mi$HNRZ Three Longers Later - Stereolab Mommy Can’t Sleep - XVOTO Feel Good - Sandy Szigeti The Beacon - Benny Yurco
...
(good girls s4 playlist)
(nmc’s gg s1-s4 faves playlist)

Fallen Realm Playlist Masterpost
Big infodump under the read more, if you like my OCs and/or agree with my flawless music taste this should be interdasting
1. MUSE - Thought Contagion
Vampire stuff, punk vibes, a nod to thriller, all of the above fit the mood of a FR show + the song is genuinely very good and I could see it being used on stage easily.
2. PAIN - Call Me
Absolute banger. But that's besides the point. I see this as being the bassist Jez/Jamie's song (with a side of Deuce as the second vocalist). Jez is a fairly quiet lad who generally keeps to himself but I always imagined that he’d be secretly very flirty and cheeky, but would mostly only really express it via music. I actually wrote a lil short story where most of FR's band (minus Rex and Isabella) find themselves in some dive bar after a show, and end up performing in the place of the no-show band that was meant to be there that night. That band ends up being the very same one that kicked Jez out, so it’s a bit of a revenge story for him. This short is on my discord by the by.
3. Emigrate - Eat You Alive
Oh boy, this is a strong one. Basically, just watch this video but pretend that Axl is Richard (the frontman). That’s it. That’s the explanation.
Being serious though, RZK is and always has been a huge influence for Axl's visual design, mannerisms and on-stage behaviours. On top of that, this is 100% the type of music he'd listen to, and the lyrics may as well just be plucked right outta his brain. Are the words meant to be aimed at Valeriya in a threatening way? Or is it a cheeky flirt with Trinity? Both? Neither? We’ll never know.
Also, completely unrelated I’m sure, here’s a wip you may or may not be able to force me to finish on stream via channel points soon...
Tumblr media
4. Axel One - Out of the Dark
Can't exactly say much about this one cause it's spoilers, but I will say it's less about the song itself and more about the video, and that it does concern the one FR character who is already dead when the story begins.
5. Lord of the Lost - Raining Stars
Just seems to me like a real good song to perform to. I can imagine seeing acrobatic stunts in slow-mo to this track. That’s it for this one, just “I just think they’re neat”. Gorgeous song and video by an amazing band anyway though.
6. Oomph! - Supernova
Kinda the same deal as the Emigrate song, you can just insert Axl into this one in Dero’s place, along with Jez, Vlad, and Thatch. Once again the style and lyrics fit him perfectly, and this one earns bonus points since Dero is actually Axl's canon voiceclaim - specifically in this era of Oomph!’s music too.
7. Die Kreatur - Kälter als der Tod
At the risk of this thread becoming Oops All Axl TM - AH YES. This one is perfect for the point where Axl finally gets the fuck over himself, and stops being horrible to Vlad because of guitar jealousy, and they become bros.
Realistically, I doubt that Vlad - the clueless human vampire fanatic - will ever realise that Axl is a real actual vampire, but he'd be so glad that they seem to have this ~shared interest~ in them, and he'd by hyped as heck to do a performance like this with his guitar buddy. By the way, Vlad wonders to himself, isn’t it odd that he’s never seen Axl putting his fake fangs in?? Weird
As for the girl on the altar, there are a couple ideas I’ve toyed with. Random audience member for fun. Trinity but Axl gets mad jealous even though he thought and said he wouldn't. (No sharing!! Not even for jokes.) Valeriya but the poor thing is scared to the point of tears because this is just a little too close to a real experience for her and Vlad just can't figure out why. Axl insists she’s just being dramatic. Rex has to rescue her because she’s too shy to put her foot down.
Or perhaps Isabella would wanna join in, but she can't take it seriously and keeps laughing which just causes a chain reaction every time with even Axl cracking a smile. There are like a million cut takes now. Send help.
All in all a fun crossover to think about.
8. Adelitas Way - Still Hungry
This one is just Diesel’s anthem. This is the story of a young punk who can’t stop, won’t stop, never gives up and needs more. Right kinda music for him too.
9. MONO INC. - Shining Light
100% a full-cast song. I feel like the lyrics apply to a number of different things about various members of the circus' backstories, and their found family vibe together - if you think about them in super vague terms, at least. I liked to consider the vocals a duet between Rex and Isabella, being the two singers, but there are a couple lines that are kinda too adult for Bella and would make the duet sorta odd so ehhh 90% of it can be that, let’s say. (This is baring in mind that Isabella is an orphaned minor and Rex is like a father figure for her - as he kinda is for many of the members of the circus)
I also did a doodle of this. This one will also be on the force-me-to-work-on-this-WIP-live pile.
Tumblr media
9.5. Lacrimosa - Lichtgestalt a.k.a the original version of Shining Light
Same song, just German and carrying a much darker, creepier tone. It fits in new, fun ways.
10. Oomph! - Viel zu Tief
OOPS ALL AXL TM
Lyrics are very important for this one. Once again, music is the right style, Dero is still his voiceclaim, and Axl actually speaks German in canon (and NO I didn’t do that just so Oomph! songs fit him better, shUT UP)
11. Pet Shop Boys - It’s a Sin
Bit out of left field for this playlist, sure, but with all the controversy and extremely shakey morals in FR's world and with its characters, this one just seems fitting. Plus I'd want em to cover it for a show. Banger.
Honorable mention goes to Ghost’s cover of this song. I don’t even listen to Ghost but my reaction upon finding out this exists was like “lmao yes, of course, why wouldn’t they”.
This song in general I associate instinctively with Vlad, purely because its 80s and campy and I feel like he’d be the type to listen to Ghost.
12. Destiny Potato - Lunatic
Very strongly feel this is a performance song featuring Isabella. This song fits the character - and in particular her tragic backstoryTM pretty well. I’d even go so far as to say the singer would be a pretty good voiceclaim for her if her voice wasn’t meant to be more robotic in canon. This is pretty close to what I imagine, though. Strong n sweet.
13. Nightwish - I Want My Tears Back
One of the first songs I imagined to go well with stage performances. This one for sure would be a duet between Rex and Isabella.
Plus at about 3:10 there's a long solo with a bit of back-and-forth between the guitar and hurdy gurdy (I think?) that I could 100% see Axl and Vlad doing on guitar and keytar respectively.
14. Lord of the Lost - Drag Me To Hell
Yeah this one is just Axl @ his ex
15. Lindemann - Steh Auf!
Bleib nicht liegen, es wär schade - Zirkus ist heut in der Stadt
So, this would be from Isabella’s perspective. Did I mention she was orphaned? Yeah. I guess this one is a little dark.
16. Otetsu & GUMI - Disordered Self-Restraint Girl
The song itself seems to be the story of a child who is trying to coax their parent/guardian into getting up and doing things, not realising that parent had passed away from a drug overdose. Drugs isn’t the way Isabella’s parents died, but the rest of the song fits that part of her backstory imo. Plus, it’s German, and Isabella is German, so yay!
Uh oh, vocaloid.
For a long time I've associated this one with Valeria, and her feelings towards the circus in the early days. After she's accidentally turned by Axl, Val gets effectively kidnapped by FR, taken in before she can even regain consciousness and completely against her will, since it would be incredibly irresponsible of them to just leave a fresh new vampire out in the world so they kinda don't have a choice. While she eventually finds her place and elects to stay after some time has passed, there was a period of time where she definitely would have felt trapped.
This is without even going into the fact that she's now stuck travelling and living with her would-be murderer, and - due to the fact that half of the circus don't even know non-humans exist, let alone what actually happened to Valeria - many of the people around her don't seem to care, or simply do not understand why she's so scared and stressed. It leaves her, at times, feeling like she could be killed tomorrow and nobody would give a shit.
Showtime, katanamochi bunbun furimawashi kubi kara ue hanetobashite mo - ashita ni nareba minna motodoori, waratte yurushite
Translation: Showtime, even if a sword wielder slices my head and makes it fly off, tomorrow everything continues as usual, smiling, forgiving
(Don't worry, in reality Rex, Diesel, and Thatch are there for her & understand the shit she's going through. I promise the folks in the circus do actually care. It's just hard for her to see it in this period of time.)
(There will almost definitely be more songs and doodles added here in the future, but for now that’s all folks!)

Listening to Rolling Stone's Top 500 Albums of All Time
Rolling Stone released an updated list of their top 500 albums of all time and being trapped in the purgatory of covid quarantine this seems like the perfect moment to tackle what an almost completely irrelevant former counter-culture institution has to say about music (we can’t actually blame Rolling Stone for this list, a huge number of musicians and critics voted to make it). I am going to listen to every single one of these, all the way through, with a level of attention that's not super intense but I'm definitely not having them on in the background as simple aural wallpaper. Two caveats though: I can make an executive decision to skip any album if I feel the experience is sufficiently miserable, and I'm also going to be skipping the compilation albums that I feel aren't really worth slots (best ofs, etc.). In addition, I will be ordering them as I go, creating a top 500 of the top 500 (it will be less than 500 since we've already established I'm skipping some of these).
Here are 500-490:
#500 Arcade Fire - Funeral
I can already tell I'm going to be at odds with this list if one of the most important albums of my high school years is at the bottom. That being said, I haven't actually given this whole thing a listen since probably the early 2010s, before Arcade Fire fatigue set in and the hipsterati appointed band of a generation just kinda seemed to fade from popular consciousness. I actually dreaded re-experiencing it, since the synthesis of anthemic rock and quirky folk instrumentation which Arcade Fire brought mainstream has now become the common shorthand of insufferable spotify friendly folk pop. Blessedly, the first half of the album easily holds up, largely propelled by dirty fast rhythm guitar, orchestration that's tuneful rather than obnoxious, and lyrics which come off as earnest rather than pretentious. The middle gets a little sappy and “Crown of Love”, a song I definitely used to like, really starts the grate. And then we get to “Wake Up”, whose cultural saturation spawned thousands of dorky indie rock outfits that confused layered strings and horns with power and meaning. This song definitely hasn't survived the film trailers and commercials which it so ubiquitously overlayed, but the line about "a million little gods causing rainstorms, turning every good thing to rust" still attacks the part of my brain capable of sincere emotion. This album is probably going to hold the top spot for a while, because although so many elements of Funeral that made it feel so meaningful, that made it stand out so much in 2004, have been seamlessly assimilated into an intellectually and emotionally bankrupt indie pop industrial complex, the album itself still has a genuine vulnerability and bangers that still manage to rip.
#499
Rufus, Chaka Khan - Ask Rufus
Before she became a name in her own right, Chaka Khan was the voice of the band Rufus, and it’s definitely her voice that shines amongst some spritely vibey funk. That’s not to say that these aren’t some jams on their own. “At Midnight” is a banging opener with a sprint to the finish, and although the explicitly named but kinda boring “Slow Screw Against the Wall” feels weak, this wasn’t really supposed to be an album of barn burners. This was something people put on their vinyl record players while they chilled on vinyl furniture after a night of doing cocaine. “Everlasting Love” is a bop with a bassline like a Sega Genesis game, and the twinkling piano on “Hollywood” adds a playful levity to lyrics that are supposed to be both tackily optimistic about making it big out in LA and subtly realistic about the kind of nightmare world showbiz can be. “Better Days” is another track that manages to be a bittersweet jam with a catchy sour saxophone and playful synths under Chaka Khan’s vamping. This album definitely belongs on a ‘chill funk to study and relax to’ playlist.
#498
Suicide - Suicide
We’ve hit the first album that could be rightly called a progenitor for multiple genres that followed it. Someone could say there’s a self-serving element of this being on a Rolling Stone list (the band was one of the first to adopt the label ‘Punk’ after seeing it in a Lester Bangs article) but the album’s legacy is basically indisputable. EBM, industrial, punk, post-punk, new wave, new whatever all have a genealogy that connects to Suicide, and it’s easy to hear the band in everything that followed. But what the band actually is is two guys, one with an electric organ and one with a spooky voice, doing spooky simple riffs and saying spooky simple things. Simplicity is definitely not a dis here. The opener “Ghost Rider” makes a banger out of four notes and one instrument, and the refrain ‘America America is killing its youth’ is really all the lyrical complexity you need to fucking get it. “Cheree” and “Girl” have almost identical lyrics (‘oh baby’ vs ‘oh girl’) but “Cheree” is more like a fairy tale and “Girl” is more like a sonic handjob. “Frankie Teardrop” has the audacity to tell a ten minute story with its lyrics, but of course there is intermittent, actually way too loud screaming breaking up the narrative of a guy who loses everything then kills his family and himself. The song is basically a novelty, and I think you can probably say the whole album is a novelty between its brevity and character. But for a bite sized snack this album casts a huge shadow.
#497
Various Artists - The Indestructible Beat of Soweto
The fact that this particular compilation always ends up in the canon has a lot to do with the cultural context it existed in, being America’s first encounter with South African contemporary music during the decline of apartheid (it wouldn’t end until a decade later in 1994 with the country’s first multi-racial elections). Music journos often bring up the fact Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the all male choir singing on the album ender “Nansi Imali”, sang on Paul Simon’s Graceland like their virtue is they helped Paul Simon get over his depression and not, like, the actual music. But also like, how is the actual music? Jams. Ubiquitous, hooky guitars propel the songs along with bright choruses over low lead vocals, but I didn’t expect the synthesizer on the bop “Qhude Manikiniki”, nor the discordant hoedown violin on “Sobabamba”. “Holotelani” is a groove to walk into the sunset to.
#496
Shakira - Donde Estan los Ladrones
So this is the first head scratcher on the list. It’s not like it sucks. And I think I prefer this 90s guitar pop driven spanish language Shakira to modern superstar Shakira. But I mean, it’s an album of late nineties latin pop minivan music, with a thick syrupy middle that doesn’t do anything for me. The opener and closer stand out though.  ‘Ciega, Sordomuda’, one of the biggest pop songs of the 90s (it was #1 on the charts of literally every country in Latin America), has a galloping acoustic guitar and horn hits with Shakira’s vocals at their most percussive.
#495
Boyz II Men - II
So, if you were alive in the 90s you know Boyz II Men were fucking huge, and the worst song on the album is the second track “All Around the World”, basically a love song to their own success, and also the women they’ve banged. You can tell it was written specifically so that the crowd could go fucking wild when they heard their state/city/country mentioned in the song, and I’m not gonna double check but I’m sure they hit all fifty states. Once you’re over that hump though you basically have an hour of songs to fuck to. “U Know” keeps it catchy with propulsive midi guitar and synth horns, “Jezzebel” starts with a skit and ends with a richly layered jazz tune about falling in love on a train, and “On Bended Knee” has a Ragnarok Online type beat. Honestly this album can drag, but you’re not supposed to be listening to it alone in a state of analysis, you’re supposed to have it on during a date that’s going really, really well.
#494
The Ronettes - Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes
A singles compilation of the Ronettes, the only ones I immediately recognized were ‘Be My Baby’ and ‘Going to the Chapel of Love’, the latter of which I didn’t know existed since the version of the song I knew was by the Dixie Cups, which was apparently a source of drama since the Ronettes did it first but producer Phil Spector refused to release it. I feel like as a retro trip to sixties girl groups it’s full of enough songs about breaking up (for example “Breaking Up”) getting back together (for example “Breaking Up”) and wanting to get married but you can’t, because you’re a teenager (“So Young”).
#493
Marvin Gaye - Here, My Dear
This album only exists because Marvin was required by his divorce settlement to make it and provide all of the royalties to his ex-wife and motown executive Anna Gordy Gaye. It’s absolutely bizarre, phoned in mid tempo funk whose lyrics range from the passive aggressive (“This is what you wanted right?”) to the petulant (“Why do I have to pay attorney’s fees?”). There is a seething realness here that crosses well past the border of uncomfortable. I don’t think it’s an amazing album to listen to, but it’s an amazing album to exist: Marvin Gaye is legally obligated to throw his own divorce pity party, and everyone's invited.
#492
Bonnie Raitt - Nick of Time
I have never heard of Bonnie Raitt before but apparently this album won several grammys including album of the year in 1989 and sold 5 million copies, which I guess goes to show that no award provides less long term relevance than the grammys. The story around the album is pretty heartwarming, it was her first massive hit after a career of whiffs, and Bonnie Raitt herself is apparently a social activist and neat human being. I say all this because this sort of 80s country blues rock doesn't really connect with me, but the artist obviously deserves more than that. I unequivocally like the title track though, a hand-clap backed winding electric piano groove about literally finding love before your eggs dry up.
#491
Harry Styles - Fine Line
I do not think I have ever heard a one direction song because I am an adult who only listens to public radio. I’m totally open to pop bands or boy bands or boy band refugee solo artists, but I don’t like anything here. It’s like a mixtape of the worst pop trends of the decade, from glam rock that sounds like it belongs in a car commercial to folky bullshit that sounds like it belongs in a more family focused car commercial. This gets my first DNP (Does Not Place).
#490
Linda Ronstadt - Heart Like a Wheel
Another soft-rock blues and country album which just doesn’t land with me. But the opener “You’re No Good” is like a soul/country hybrid which still goes hard and the title track hits with the lyrics “And it's only love and it's only love / That can wreck a human being and turn him inside out”.
Current Ranking, which is weirdly almost like an inverse of the rolling stones list so far;

answer from aries to 12th house. all of them. please.
oh my god ahahhhaaha WELL OKAY.
aries: what are you passionate about?
I am passionate about making art, connecting with people, and helping others the best that I can. when I can help teach someone something important or help them access their own tools, that’s such an amazing feeling!
taurus: name 3 of your favorite books.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly, Circe by Madeline Miller, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. all ABSOLUTE bangers. also fuck u I work at a literature company I can put a fourth book if I want.
gemini: what was the last text you sent?
“i shifted how i was sitting and was like ‘oh stabby, cool’” my friends will know what this is about
cancer: if you could choose your child’s zodiac sign, what would it be?
n/a (don’t want kids)
leo: name something you love about yourself.
I LOVE. how creative I am. I mean I constantly bounce between like five different hobbies and I just love looking at the things I’ve created and feeling proud of myself and remembering how much fun I had making the thing! plus, my art has helped me connect with so many people and has helped so many people and that’s just. ahh. so rad!!
virgo: what’s your #1 pet peeve?
I HAVE TO NAME JUST ONE? LMAO. honestly i think i’ll have to say when people are not aware of their surroundings—whether that’s people walking too slowly in front of me or someone just standing like a dummy in the middle of the aisle/sidewalk like buddy come on people have to Go Here.
libra: describe your dream partner.
my dream partner is patient, funny, handsome, supportive, excited, and understanding! he also has been dating me for over five years. :^)
scorpio: do you trust easily?
this is an interesting one. I... don’t think so? and that’s not because I expect people to hurt me, I just have a lot of walls and a front I tend to put up until I’m close with someone. and scorpio is my dominant sign so hey that’s fitting. I can’t always rationally tell whether or not I’m vibing with someone, but if I notice myself struggling to be myself or behave like I normally would because of my protective walls, I know they’re not a good fit for me. (also this isn’t because I’m not friendly or outgoing, it just takes a minute for people to get to know me a bit deeper. asndgntdn i’m overexplaining lol)
sagittarius: if you could travel to any place in the world, where would it be?
bro uh. you know i see why people romanticize traveling a lot, it’s supposed to be this really revealing experience—and I did get to study abroad in college, and it was a powerful and introspective experience—but now that I’m older and have a job and medications and illnesses and disabilities I just don’t know how feasible traveling would be for me. THAT BEING SAID: it’s on my bucket list to spend a few nights to a week in a cabin with paints and books and just fucking chill.
capricorn: what’s your dream job?
currently my goal is to become an adolescent therapist, but if that doesn’t flesh out, something else in the realm of social work or accessibility. and obviously I want enough time and energy to keep making art!
aquarius: do you believe in aliens?
scientifically, yeah! there has got to be intelligent life out there. spiritually, yes! I tend to think of deities as higher-vibrational creatures that can interact with us—similar to spirits and ghosts.
pisces: describe someone you love.
my mom is nerdy and gets excited about small things, from glitter to videogames. she has almost as many tattoos as me, and almost all of them are geeky references. she and i are both traumatized and chronically ill in similar ways, which I think has strengthened our relationship in my adulthood. though, I was always close with her—she always made sure to support whoever we were as children and teens and give us the resources we needed to succeed. :’)
sun: describe yourself in 3 words.
kind, balanced, sensitive
moon: what’s your favorite song?
Such Great Heights by The Postal Service!!!! it’s been my fav song for like, fifteen years
rising/asc: how would you describe your style?
lazy nonbinary wearing nothing but sweaters as they wait for surgery lol
mars: are you easily angered?
no—and in fact, it took me some time and a fair amount of therapy to be able to access my own anger after leaving an abuser. (though I DO get annoyed easily, see the question about pet peeves lolol)
venus: what’s your aesthetic?
i..... what the fuck is my aesthetic outside of my style. what does this mean. raw art, forests, sunsets, rain, i guess???
mercury: what color do you talk in?
green. sometimes, orange! other times, deep sea blue. but usually green.
jupiter: what moral do you live by?
be the best version of you that you can be, listen to the messages the universe sends you, and enjoy your life. be kind to others.
saturn: what’s your biggest fear?
living a dull, unhappy life and not making the most out of the life I have. making decisions out of fear and not going anywhere.
uranus: are you rebellious?
ok so not needlessly so, but whenever it comes to rules I think are dumb as shit, yes. yes. I was the kid in high school who got straight A’s but talked back to the subs when they were being unreasonable lol. I just tend to think “well I’ll do this my own way” when I don’t like something.
neptune: share one of your dreams.
I want to live in a brick house. I think they are so cute. I want a window nook seat, and a tower/fun shaped attic where a library can be—I want a yard for my doggy and a space for me to paint.
pluto: what’s the biggest thing you’ve learned by far in your life?
people are healing.
lilith: do you have any guilty pleasures?
sure! I like to imbibe in some drink or smoke and zone into a dumb videogame every once in a while.
chiron: have you ever broken a bone?
i broke my nose as a child!
ceres: are you a momfriend?
I used to be, now I think of myself more as a mentor and friend than the mom friend. being the mom is exhausting.
pallas: do you have a good relationship with your parents?
my mom, yes!
juno: do you believe in soul mates?
of course! not just romantic soul mates—there are many different kinds.
1st house: are you confident?
yes! most of the time, lol. until i am outside and constantly looking over my shoulder because ptsd has eaten my brain
2nd house: if you could only keep one of your personal items, what would you choose?
probably my laptop because of all the stuff on it, art programs, etc.
3rd house: do you like to read?
yesss!! see above with my book suggestions. I’m working on Dune right now.
4th house: what does your bedroom look like?
cozy! half messy, half not. we still have boxes we need to unpack at the foot of our bed, but I’ve decorated my dresser with a lot of memorable items—my necklace tree, photos, instax, we have a couple plants, oh and my altar is in here too!
5th house: name your favorite movie or show.
Avatar: The Last Airbender for surreeee
6th house: do you participate in community service?
not currently—while I like the idea of it, I feel like I don’t have the time or battery level with commissions and art and working full time and working out and taking care of a dog.
7th house: if you could choose, what zodiac sign would you like your dream partner to be?
man I don’t like this one, every zodiac sign has its ups and downs and further, combinations of zodiac signs are what make people truly unique—not to mention peoples’ life experiences!
8th house: do you believe in reincarnation?
yes, absolutely!
9th house: what’s your favorite quote?
not to be boring but I don’t think I have one, and I don’t really want to pull one out of my ass for the sake of answering this question. :(
10th house: are you good at public speaking?
surprisingly yes! I’ve got a good blend of professional and cracking the occasional joke.
11th house: what sign(s) is your best friend/squad?
LET’S SEE. we’ve got a cap, a gem, a gem/cancer cusp, a cancer, a libra, and a pisces.
12th house: do you like to be alone?
lmao tonight i hung out with my partner and her date and after a movie i was like “i’m gonna be a party pooper and go to bed and by go to bed I mean get on my bed and draw while listening to music” so yes, I sure do like being alone.

Best 100 Songs of the decade!
As a new decade will be upon us shortly (the 20’s) I wanted to share some of my favourite tracks from the last 10 years. I’m a pop and rap guy mostly so that’s what you can mostly expect but hopefully a few surprises along the way. I’ll post 100 songs I really loved (in no particular order) then my top 25 absolute favourites at the end. Ok here we go
~Bad Romance - Lady Gaga
To limit myself to just one GaGa track is cruel and not easy, Edge of Glory and Born this Way are both anthems and technically this came out last moment 2009 ..but didn’t pop until 2010. A classic that makes it to most my playlists.
~Airplanes- B.O.B ft Hayley Williams (A classic no need to say more.)
~Love the Way you Lie - Eminem ft Rihanna
A absolutely brutal tune about a toxic relationship full of of lies and abuse, the powerful video really sells the tone of the song.
~Rescue Me - Skepta
Used to love Grime but gone off it for a while now. I wouldn’t call this an outright grime track but Skepta def brings the gritty uk rap scene on this one.
~Forget you ~ Ceeloo Green
Thou I prefer the Gnarls Barkley music style, this is still a awesome tune. Always fun to tell someone to do one in a sing song melody.
~Written in the Stars- Tinie Tempah ft Eric Turner
Used to love me some TT, this was a real catchy banger with great chorus by Eric Turner.
~Raise your glass - Pink (Not much to say, a pop classic)
~I need a Dr - Eminem, ft Dr Dre and Skylar Grey
This is such a underrated song. You have to really know your Dre and Em history to catch everything being said (which I won’t go into here) Brilliant tune and my fave they both worked on together that decade.
~Animal- Neon Trees
Really catchy little number that I enjoyed from first hearing.
~Look at me now - Chris Brown ft Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes
Busta Rhymes rap, that is all!
~Moves like Jagger - Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera
A great sing a long featuring two artists I’m not mad about really so a surprise like from me.
~ In the heat of the moment - Noah Gallagher’s High Flying Birds
What a tune, completely missed this first time around heard on a tv show recently checked it was this decade and then added it right on the list. Banger.
~Summertime Sadness AND ~Love - Lana Del Ray
Tumblr media
2 for 1. When Summertime Sadness came out I was mesmerised by Lana’s voice had never heard anything like it before. Safe to say she is my artist of the decade but haven’t raided this count down with all her music. A couple here and a couple of my absolute faves in my ultimate top 25. Love was very heard to keep out of my top 25.
~Stronger (What doesn’t kill you) - Kelly Clarkson
Come on now, if you haven’t belted this one out the top of your lungs at least once I don’t know what you’ve been doing the last ten years.
~Somebody that I used to know - Goyte ft Kimbra
Went thru moments of really liking this song then it really irritating me (played on radio A LOT), thankfully years later the hype has died so I can appreciate it once more.
Midnight City- M83
This is not really my sort of music at all ,so much so I’m not even sure how to describe it. Has a 80’s feel which I love. Just love the infusion of synths and instrumental. Plus the singer has a very calm melodic voice. Great track.
~T.H.E - Will.I.Am ft Mick Jagger and Jennifer Lopez
Absolutely love this song so catchy very Fergie era BEP sounding, with a great guest solo from Mick Jagger.
~212 - Azealia Banks (not much to add on this, banger!)
~Too Close - Alex Close
If you don’t recognise this song from title you will once you hear it, such a forgotten gem.
~Picking up the Pieces - Paloma Faith
Another unique voice that def makes my top ten newly discovered artists this decade is Paloma Faith, her cover of Mama Cass’s Make your own kind of music also deserves a strong mention. Also not related to the music but Paloma is mad as a box of frogs in real life which I love.
~Bangarang- Skrillex
Yeah you’re not leaving alive from this post without a Skrillex nod I’m afraid, not a big dubstep fan but jumped aboard the band wagon when it was big for five minutes, this songs only thing that made it back with me thou.
~Hall of Fame - The Script ft Will.I.Am
First let’s clear this up I’m not a massive Will.I.Am fan or anything, he was just in EVERYTHING for the first few years of the 10’s. It’s a great song regardless.
~Harder then You think - Public Enemy (What a track, can’t say much more, banger.)
~Locked out of Heaven- Bruno Mars
Bruno Mars had some amazing tracks his debut album Doo Wops and Hooligans featured some brilliant tunes which sadly I just didn’t have space for in this countdown, Grenade, lazy song , Just the way you are, but I’m showing some love to Unorthodox Jukebox here and it’s best track giving Bruno Mars a edgier new vibe.
~Chocolate- 1975
Not my sort of music usually but really enjoyed this laid back rock number,
~Get Lucky - Daft Punk ft Pharrell Williams
Disco is back! Or is was in 2013 when this tune came out, one of the biggest selling singles worldwide in the 2010’s so not much more detail needed on its inclusion.
~Let her Go- Passenger
Nice little number, always liked this one, never really got into there other stuff but had to give this a shout out.
~Can’t hold us - Macklemore ft Ryan Lewis
The Heist is one of my fave albums from the last decade features some great tracks, same love and Thrift Shop get a shout out but this track was my fave, uplifting and full of energy.
~La La La - Naughty Boy feat Sam Smith
This was Sam Smith’s big feature hit before they became the successful solo artist they are now. Great track very different to the music Sam does now.
~Work Bitch - Britney Spears
Don’t roll your eyes! This is a banger, now get to work bitch!
~Rap God - Eminem
Tumblr media
For Eminem’s big solo feature on this countdown it was between this, The Ringer or Not afraid. You may of guessed I’m a Eminem fan and have tried to keep his entries down but one does not simply do a music countdown and not include Rap God.
~Of the Night - Bastille
Really like this band they have some great hits, Pompeii is another great song of theirs that I didn’t have space to include. I went for this eerie cover version of the Corona 90’s dance classic as my pick.
~Wrecking Ball - Miley Cyrus (Leave me alone it’s a good song ok 😂)
~Riptide- Vance Joy
A little hidden gem I’d forgotten about until I put this list together.
~Who did that to you? - John Legend
Was going to obviously include All of me in this spot but then I remembered this absolute hit from Django unchained which sneaks in and takes the spot. Both great songs thou.
~Nobody to Love - Sigma (Great little dance track not much to add)
~ When the Party’s Over - Billy Eilish
Tumblr media
Yes I’m a 35 year old Billy Eilish fan ok leave me alone lol. Seriously thou this girl is super talented and she’s up there in my fave artists of the decade. There will be more of her in my top 25 but this haunting track deserves a mention.
~Turn down for What - DJ Snake ft Lil Jon
It’s Lil Jon yelling really load of course it’s a banger. Also worth mentioning Ice T did a awesome Rap rock version of this song and it’s amazing!
~Problem- Ariana Grane ft Iggy Azalea
Those saxophone’s thou! Groovy little number no explanation needed.
~Chandelier- Sia
Such a power anthem, I came out as trans in 2014 so this song holds a lot of personal meaning with me but regardless is a great song anyway.
~Thinking Out Load - Ed Sheeran
I’m not the biggest Ed Sheeran fan ,take him or most often leave him ,but did like this sweet ballad. Nothing against his voice it’s his songs that don’t often do it for me but this was great.
~Good Kisser- Usher
Never been huge Usher fan ,liked his earlier stuff, confessions and all that. This was a surprise jazzy bluesy type number thou that I really enjoyed.
~Rude- Magic (A catchy sing along tune)
~Zombie - Jamie T
This guy was one of my fave artists of the 00’s, and thou his newest stuff imo doesn’t compare to his older this was still a tune.
~I - Kendrick Lemar
This is actually best when played after the song ‘U’ , the latter being a self hating song ‘loving you Is complicated’ vs I’s ‘I love myself’ different ends of the spectrum I just included ‘I’as you can enjoy that one on its own but to get the best out of that track I highly recommend listening to U first.
~See you again- Wiz Khalifa ft Charlie Puth
A sad song given it’s a tribute to Paul Walker who died in a car accident. Was overplayed a lot at the time but stands strong several years later.
~Dark Times - The Weeked an Ed Sheeran
What a track, their voices mesh perfectly together in this somber number.
~ Trouble - Iggy Azalea ft Jennifer Hudson (Banger)
~Hotline Bling - Drake
So many Drake songs I could of included, (he will appear again in the top 25) gods plan, headlines, in my feelings, nice for what, all absolutely great tracks but I had to go for my personal fave out of the bunch.
~You don’t own me - Grace ft G-Easy
This may be an odd one to some but I’ve always loved the original by Lesley Gore and this is a amazing cover. Grace has a lovely voice (and there is a non rap version if you’re so inclined) Love a good cover version and this is a awesome cover version.
~Side to Side - Ariana Grande ft Nicki Minaj
Hmm guess I’m a Ariana Grande fan, who knew. A cheeky little number and the first appearance in this countdown of a certain fave rapper of mine.
~Panda - Desiigner (another one where there’s not much I need to add, great tune)
~Dancing on my own - Robyn OR Callum Scott
Take your pick the Robyn original or the Callum Scott cover version, both stand alone great tracks, the original more a melancholy dance track the cover a somber ballad. Both brilliant.
~Alarm - Anne-Marie
A nice little pop tune, really like her voice
~Rockabye- Clean Bandit ft Anne-Marie and Sean Paul
Speaking of Anne-Marie, another great pop track. Super catchy sing along. Sean Paul can be hit or miss for me but works well with this track.
~Human - Rag N Bone Man
This is another one there’s not much I can add this guy’s voice is amazing. Brilliant song particularly love the chains you can hear rattling throughout (reminds me of Johnny Cash’s ‘Ain’t no grave’)
~Black Beatles - Rae Stremmurd ft Gucci Mane
Yep that’s some mumble rap to add to the list (told you my music taste was varied) As a whole I don’t love mumble rap but there’s some stand out tracks including this one.
~Thunder- Imagine Dragons
One of my favourite bands from the last decade, like most there stuff. This song has a great song along chorus. Really catchy track.
~New Rules And IDGAF - Dua Lipa
Honestly couldn’t pick from the two really like them both equally. So you get a double. Catchy pop tracks.
~Sorry not Sorry - Demi Lovato
It was between this or Sober (another great Demi track) but ultimately went with the more upbeat pop number.
~Havana - Camila Cabelllo ft Young Thug (A nice chilled Latino style track.)
~Perfect - Ed Sheeran
A beautiful song by Ed Sheeran, other then ‘sing’ and the previous mentions I’m not really into his stuff but this is lovely track.
~Feel it Still - Portugal the Man
Really catchy song can’t help but tap your toes along to it.
~False Alarm- The Weekend
This was something different from the Weekend, really enjoy this song, Weekend is one of my other fave artists to come out the 2010’s.
~Sanctify — Years and years
Wasn’t keen on there earlier dance stuff but when they found there sound I really enjoyed them.
~This is America- Childish Gambino
Great as this song is you really need to watch the music video as well for the song to have its full impact. Love Childish Gambino could of put several of his songs in this list, excited for future music from this guy.
~Solo - Clean Bandit ft Demi Lovato
A cheeky little pop number you can’t help but sing along to.
~Shotgun - George Ezra
One of those artists I can’t decide if I’m into or not, like one song then not keen on the next, it’s strange, but no denying this is a great song.
~Lucid Dreams - Juice WRLD (RIP)
Tumblr media
First off Rest in peace Juice, recently died at 21, very sad. The guy was super talented and was looking forward to his future stuff. Could of picked a few tracks but this was the first song I heard of his so that’s got to be my shout out.
~Only You - Cheat Codes ft Little Mix
Although I don’t mind Little Mix this is there only entry on my list. A nice catchy sing along with a dance beat.
~Lost Without You - Freya Ridings
This almost made it into my top 25, just couldn’t find a space for it. Haunting, melodic song with Freya’s stunning vocals. Don’t play this one after a break up or a death.
~Nothing Breaks like a heart- Mark Ronson ft Miley Cyrus
~Someone you loved - Lewis Capaldi
Think this guys going to be another Ed Sheeran for me, meh most the time with the occasional great song. This one no exception.
~Shut Down - Skepta
With lyrics like ‘Ring ring pussy, it’s shut down’ how can it not be a banger 😂 Not the best song in the world I admit but good fun.
~As we enter- Nas and Damian Marley
Words can’t express how much Iove this track, such a hidden gem. A reggae- rap blend of uplifting brilliance. Great gym playlist track.
~Better Now - Post Malone
Another artist I enjoy on occasion. This is my favourite of Malone’s songs so far.
~Bad at Love - Halsey (another great pop track)
~Bitch Don’t kill my vibe- Kendrick Lamar
Could of picked a number of Kendrick tracks King Kunta, DNA, M.a.a.a.d City, If these walls could talk, just to name a few but I’ll go with the first Kendrick track I heard and loved.
~Heartbeat - Childish Gambino
So gutted I couldn’t find a spot for this banger in my 25 but I had to include it on its own. Unless you’re a CG fan it’s unlikely you’ve heard it. Highly recommended a listen. I can’t even really describe it.
~No role Models- J. Cole
A anthem with a similar feel to Keep your head up by 2pac, a sad song somewhat but with a more upbeat tempo. My personal fave J. Cole song.
~Power - Kanye West
Wow our first Kanye track. I like Kanye ,prefer his older stuff. My dark twisted fantasy was the last album of his I really liked. This was a absolute monster of a tune. Also really liked the song Runaway from the same album. Both have great intros.
~Antidote- Travis Scott
~ No Sleep- Wiz Khalifa
Super catchy song, very anthem sounding.
~Young, Wild and Free - Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and Bruno Mars
Another catchy tune, powerhouse of a team up.
~Rack City - Tyga
~ Romans Revenge- Nicki Minaj ft Eminem
Absolute banger double up from the king and queen of rap. Also a version she did with Lil Wayne which was very good but the Eminem version wins for me. Also will take the opportunity to give the Lil Wayne and Nicki song ‘knockout’ a shoutout.
~Blazin’- Nicki Minaj ft Kanye west
Another great Nicki Minaj track of the brilliant Pink Friday album. I know some of her more recent stuff hasn’t been great but she came out the gates strong in 2010.
~Pound The Alarm - Nicki Minaj
Last Nicki Minaj track I promise, could of picked this or starships as love them both equally.
~Trap Queen- Fetty Wap
Can’t lie this is something I never thought I’d like but the more I heard it the more I liked it.
~Ultimate- Denzel Curry
Yes the Vine meme song. Banger.
~Bad and Boujee - Migos
Yes more mumble rap, I’m not even sorry
~I’m not racist - Joyner Lucas
Wow maybe the most powerful song on this whole list. Nothing I explain can do it justice you have to give it a listen yourself (with the video)
~Cry Little Sister - Marilyn Manson
Boom, rap to rock just like that. I love Marilyn Manson covers, in the 00’s it was Tainted Love but this time around its this classic from The Lost Boys soundtrack. Creepy song but kinda perfect for Manson.
~Faster- Within Temptation
~End of Time - Beyoncé
Have to include some Beyoncé before this ends it’s the law. This was my favourite of hers.
~ Rumour has it - Adele
Not the biggest Adele fan but she has a few songs I enjoy, set fire to the rain and someone like you also good songs.
~Ugly Boy - Die Anwoord
Yep he’s a Die Antwoord fan 😆 I have no excuses, DA are one of my fave bands. Zef to death.
- Surf - Tommy Cash
Absolutely stupid lyrics but hilarious (need to watch the video also) it’s actually a good song with a awesome beat.
~Bang Bang Bang - Big Bang
To close the top 100 greatest songs of the decade out , some J-pop, I’m not a expert on Jpop I like a couple of artists and a few songs but had to close out with this... bang bang banger!
So here we go top 25 of my absolute faves from the 2010’s. (in no particular order)
~Radioactive- Image Dragons
This song featured in a Assassins creed game trailer (I forget which game) and I searched for it straight away, found it, fell in love, the rest is history. Great beat and vocals.
~Game Over - Tinchy Stryder, Tinie Tempah, Professor Green, Giggs, Devlin, Example, Chip
Wow with that line up it was always going to be a banger. This might be my fave beat ever! Such a tune featuring Rap and grime mvp’s from the UK.
~Gods and Monsters- Lana Del Ray
I know I said in no order but this might be my very favourite song from the last ten years. It’s not even regarded as Lana’s best but I just love everything about it, lyrics, melody and vocals. Perfect song.
~Born to Die - Lana Del Ray
Another melodic masterpiece from Lana Del Ray.
~Bad Girls - M.I.A
Yeah I’m a dude it’s weird this song gets me pumped seriously thou such a catchy song.

Drake at his best imo, great beat, delivery and lyrics. My fave Drake song.
~Black Skin Head - Kanye West
Powerful song with a amazing beat, powerful lyrics, great gym song to get you pumped.
~Sail - AWOL Nation
You might have guessed by now I like a catchy sing along song with a pumping beat and somber tone. Check.
~Only love can hurt like this - Paloma Faith
Her voice in this is something else. I said it before Paloma Faith is so underrated.
~Bang Bang - Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj
Not to be mistaken for Bang bang bang by big bang featured earlier. Great pop hit.
~Take me to church- Hozier
Powerful song and video.
~Humble- Kendrick Lemar
Banger, not much else I can say.
~Uptown Funk — Bruno Mars
Can’t go wrong with this one, great hit.
~Can’t feel my face- The Weekend
Like most of the stuff this guy brings out, this awesome hit just tops that list.
~Redbone- Childish Gambino
Ok sorry Lana Del Ray but I retract your number one spot for this one. Thought it was Macy Grey or the Delfonics singing when I first heard it then discovered who it was. This has a 70’s soul feel. It’s hard to explain ,if you’ve never heard it give it a listen I’m sure you’ll love it.
~Bad Guy - Billy Eilish
Such a catchy tune, the song that introduced me to her music. Great little dance/pop hit. Fun and a bit freaky. Duh!
~Bury a Friend- Billy Eilish
The way Billy Eilish’s mind works amazes me, how she sees the lyrics, the music and video all as one package. She’s extremely talented and look forward to her taking up most the spots on my 2020’s best of list.
~I miss the misery- Halestorm
Great rock hit, has a very 80’s feel. Lead singer has a amazing voice.
~Sweet but Psycho - Ava Max
Maybe my favourite pure manufactured pop hit of the decade, any female pop star could churn this out and it would do well. Hate to love it.
~Homicide - Logic feat Eminem
If you don’t like rap you won’t get it, if you do, you know where I’m at.
~Stronger then Ever - Raleigh Ritchie
Otherwise known as Grey Worm in Game of Thrones, this guy can hold a tune. Great uplifting track.
~Speedom- Tech N9nne, Eminem
Another great Eminem feature hit. Absolute masterpiece of a record.
~I need - Maverick Sabre
Nice somber melodic song, this guys super talented.
~Cookie Thumper - Die Antwoord
The South African rap rave group strikes again, this one is pretty much a Yolande solo, the beat is insane and thou half of it is in said/sung in Africans it’s still my fave DA song.
~Monster- Kanye West, Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Bon Ivor
The title of this track doesn’t lie, beast of a track, arguably Nicki Minaj’s best guest verse ever (‘Where them girls at’ deserves a mention for sure) It’s in all my rap playlists, amazing song.
If you took the time to have a gander at my random countdown then I thank you, I fully expect you not to agree with everything, hopefully something you enjoy musically was mentioned I did my best to spread the genres as much as I enjoyed them. More music and other countdowns to come.

What Taylor Swift means to me: An essay
Taylor Swift is not just another popstar - not to me at least, and I need to vent.
Taylor Swift’s debut self-titled album came out on October 4, 2006, I was 7 years old at the time, about to turn 8. I felt really alone, my parents were in pre-divorce meaning they were still trying to work through a failing marriage and living in my home was like walking on eggshells, it didn’t help that we had just recently moved from Kentucky to Illinois, hours away from any family so we were on our own. It was summer of 2007 that my mom’s dad and stepmother came to visit us from Kentucky. My Nana (my mom’s stepmother) really loved country music. I did not, I hated it, and was really disappointed to see that CMT was the channel she had chosen to watch (not to worry I have since grown and seen the light that country music can be in dark times, I also discovered old country which is honestly ~iconic~.) As I was actively bitching in my head about how much I hate country music Taylor Swift came on the screen with her super curly blonde hair talking to “Drew” in front of some lockers and I was of course intrigued, the next scene is her laying in a bed snuggling a guitar with rhinestones on her face and lip gloss on her lips  (which was and always will be iconic) and I was absolutely obsessed. I begged and begged my mom for the album and finally received it in November of 2007 for my 9th birthday, by this point my dad had lost his job, at the time I didn’t know why but I later found out he was so depressed about his relationship falling apart that he had just quit going to work, his options were to find a new job in Illinois where we lived or to take his old job in Kentucky back. He ended up doing the latter and moved away. We stayed in Illinois so my mom, who went back to school late could finish her degree, at the time the understanding was 2 years. It was like really really hard on me when my dad left, I fell apart a bit and was angry at my mom for keeping us in Illinois and angry at my dad for leaving but it’s hard to be angry at someone you miss. My dad always got me a white teddy bear on Valentine’s day and the most recent one had been easily my favorite and I started taking it to school with me everyday to still feel close to him, everyone knows how kids can be especially when you’re taking a freaking stuffed animal to school and you’re almost 10 years old. I knew it was going to happen, I knew I was going to get shit from other kids but it was so important to me to just have that little piece of my dad and to not feel alone but things got really hard with the other kids. Taylor Swift felt like my only friend and she sang about being an outcast in songs like “The Outside” and “A Place in this World.” She gave me songs to feel sad to when I was angry like “Invisible” and “Cold as You.” Absolute bops to make everything feel right in the world like “Mary’s Song”, “Our Song”, and “Should’ve said no.” This album had everything I needed when I was going through this as a kid and listening to it even now serves as a reminder that things eventually get better and the songs on it are all still absolute bangers. Taylor knows how to capture feelings that feel unmanageable and unexplainable and make them magically feel manageable and like a shared experience. This is I believe what has made Taylor such an unrelenting force in the music industry and why she so seamlessly was able to transition from country to pop. It was never about the genre it was absolutely always about her lyrical genius and the shared human experiences she has always been able to portray so well.
I am so lucky that I found Taylor at such a young age, dumb luck has had her releasing albums exactly when I needed them most. Fearless came out a little before my birthday in 2008, Taylor has a pattern of releasing albums in the fall which also happens to be when my birthday is so it works out perfectly for me. Fearless served as a healing album for me, it was one I danced around my room with my one friend to. It helped me cope with my first crush who obviously didn’t like me back and it made me feel normal despite how hectic my life was with my dad being gone and my mom being essentially a single mother with 2 kids while pursuing a college degree (which was an amazing feat for her but didn’t leave her much time to spend with my sister and I.) I absolutely adored Taylor Swift and every song she released just made me feel everything and I loved her. Fearless for me is like a time capsule to simpler times, I listen to Fearless and it makes me feel like everything is going to be okay and everything was for a while. I found out in Summer of 2010 that my parents were getting a divorce, I had thought that they were trying to work things out so this came as a shock to me, my mom wouldn’t tell me what happened. Me and my friend I mentioned earlier, Margaret-Rose, were on a spy kick we had just gotten our hands on the Nancy Drew movie that came out in 2007 and had recently watched Harriet the Spy so we came up with a plan to figure out what had happened. My mom is the type of person to tell every bit of her own and everyone else’s business to her friends on the phone so me and Margaret-Rose thought it would be an excellent idea to have a sleepover, put on all black and sneak downstairs and out into the garage where my mom would have private phone conversations, we snuck out and hid behind my mom’s van in the garage and waited for her to come out and call a friend, we knew she would do this because she did this every night, she still does. What we found out is that my Dad had cheated on her and she had already been cheating on him, in my little 10 year old brain this computed to both my parents are terrible people and I was of course extremely hurt. I didn’t know how to tell my mom that I’d heard her, I laid there venting and crying to my friend all night it just was all around bad.  Of course not too long after Speak Now came out and had the songs “Innocent” and “Never grow up” on it which were a huge part in my healing from what I’d heard. “Innocent” helped me realize that I didn’t have to be mad no matter how wrong the things they did were, I could be hurt and forgive them without holding onto the anger that I felt, I could see them as innocent people who just made some mistakes. This is of course easier said than done and I sometimes do still feel angry but it really helped me adjust my perspective and I come back to both songs frequently. The album also had, as always, a few bangers to help you forget and feel magical.  Speak Now is hard for me to listen to now despite being such a beautiful and heavy body of work just because it takes me back to such dark times, but I think sometimes it’s important to take yourself back there just to show yourself what you went through and know that you got through it. Speak Now for me serves as a testament to the strength it takes to get through that kind of emotional pain and broken trust.
Taylor’s album “Red” came out in the last half of my 8th grade year, this year was rough for me because I knew it would be the last school year I’d spend in Illinois with the people I’d been going to school with for most of my life and then I’d be moving back to Kentucky to be near my Dad, 5 years later than the initial plan. It was just too hard for my parents to be around each other so they chose to stay in separate states which obviously wasn’t easy for the kids involved. It just served as an escape from my usual life as all previous albums had, I loved how much raw emotion was involved in this album especially. With “All Too Well” I couldn’t relate to the romantic part of it, but there were so many lines in the song I could relate to easily which is an amazing thing about Taylor Swift songs almost exclusively, even if the entire song doesn’t quite fit your situation you can always find a line or verse somewhere that just hits you hard in the chest. For me anxiety about moving away was eating me up and the line, “Time won’t fly it’s like I’m paralyzed by it, I’d like to be my old self again but I’m still trying to find it” just hit home so hard the first time I heard the song, that line comes to mind every time I feel nervous or scared about anything for a while because it just embodies that feeling so well of just not feeling like you and wanting what you’re going through to be over. I’ve never been through a romantic heart break but I’ve had friends break my heart and parents and just life in general and Taylor just embodied that so well with this song. This album is one I come back to frequently as I get older, it’s amazing how coming back to the albums you can experience them differently with your new life experiences. I’ll get back to Red later.
1989 came out October of my sophomore year of high school and I didn’t listen to it. My parents were actually going through the legal process of a divorce and things were just bad. I lived in a hotel for 2 weeks bad and didn’t want another one of her albums to feel like a time capsule to terrible times so I was waiting for things to get better but they just got worse my junior year. I listened to a lot of My Chemical Romance those 2 years if that shows at all just how angry and unhappy I was, I’m not going to get into it too much but my junior year of high school was the worst year of my life hands down. I FINALLY listened to this album in its entirety my SENIOR year of high school. I’d obviously heard songs from it on the radio despite trying not to and they were amazing and the album won a Grammy for album of the year, I was extremely excited to hear Taylor’s first all out pop album. She’d experimented with pop on a few songs on Red and those were, of course, iconic bangers. 1989 will always be one of my favorite albums by Taylor. I was (am) in a happy relationship, I was (am) in love, and I was thriving as a senior. It was one of the happiest times of my life and I could finally listen to her love songs and actually fully understand what she meant. “You are in love” will always always always mean everything to me and be about my boyfriend. “Clean” absolutely brought me to tears after the years I’d had before, I was reminded how healing she can be. “Style” is THE bad bitch anthem, there is no other song you can hit a strut to like “Style.” Taylor really made the perfect pop album on her first try and I’m so glad I waited to listen to it despite missing out on following the tour and watching the press conferences because 1989 will now forever be a time capsule into one of the happiest times of my life.
Reputation came out when I was starting college and let me tell you I HATE college. I was hating life and in the midst of all the college hating I was doing I find out that my boyfriend had chosen to attend a college in Pennsylvania which, for reference, is a 12 hour drive away from me. Aiden is the actual light of my life, he is what is good in this universe. He’s patient with me when I don’t deserve it, he understands me, and is there for me when I need him and how I need him without fail. He, much like Taylor, just knows what to say and how to make things better, they are the type of people everyone should strive to be like. Aiden being there makes things so much better so finding out he wasn’t going to physically be here anymore was rough. Life was rough, and I of course had a fresh Taylor album right when I needed it. This album was different from the rest because she was happy and in love when she wrote it, she had overcome hardships and I had never been able to relate to one of her albums more. I knew what it felt like to be misunderstood and seen as the bad guy by the people around me and watching her rise from the ashes the way that I had to not too long ago made me feel so good, I was so glad to see her happy and I was so happy to have the love songs to describe what I was feeling to go with it. “Dress” reminds me of how I felt about Aiden before he was my boyfriend, “Call it what you want” reminded me of him still wanting me despite the rough years I’d had previously, “King of my heart” ,“New Years Day”, and “Don’t blame me” will always be Aiden songs to me, always. Not to mention the absolute bangers Reputation delivered in “Delicate”, “I did something bad”, and “Ready for it…” Reputation deserved album of the year hands down and I’ll leave it at that. Despite Reputation being Taylor’s most lovey album by far Red has some of the most iconic love songs on it as well, “Treacherous” and “Come back, Be here” fit my situation so well it’s scary and they really just help me a lot right now because long distance is hard and I don’t know anyone I can talk to who can relate to what I’m going through fully and Taylor really just is there for me, again.
My point in all this is that Taylor Swift will be an icon long after she stops producing music and writing songs. I’m confident that this generation’s children will listen to her music and their children’s children because she is timeless. The raw emotion that goes into her songs is timeless and relatable. Her music isn’t popular because it’s catchy (though she’s good at that too - see “Shake it off”,) Its popular because she captures those raw emotions that you don’t know how to put into words or cope and puts them into words, she makes them normal, she makes you feel like you are not alone. She not only does this with her music but in the way that she treats her fans, she invites groups of fans to her home to play the album for them before it becomes available to the public, she interacts with them online, her mother handpicks fans from the crowds at her concerts to meet her backstage. She feels like a friend more than a celebrity and that is the magic that is Taylor Swift. I can’t wait for the next chapter.

My Music Rankings (2/15/19)
Let’s try this again. Hi. Nice to meet you. This is a song ranking post
Let us get some honorable mentions up in here first:
Deal with the devil by Tia ( https://open.spotify.com/track/2qEIVphvwMEkE35CXxdWAT?si=2ZHB9PK8SduIm3wDPv5Pxg ) - I can’t unsee Kakegurui’s opening when hearing this, which is a good thing. A very fun song.
[some text I can’t copy-paste] by PASSEPIED ( https://open.spotify.com/track/3YRkEWUsxgcv0TXunuFXaG?si=4VzYHLBlQeGiw5THs2bSrA ) - Always boosts my energy. Love getting this one during a bike ride.
Reactive Factory: Work It Out by SEGA ( https://open.spotify.com/track/1zJBs1tPQAc0IJ5aSHVnjX?si=nww_-g8NTgWie1F9tt9thw ) - Song from Sonic R. It has the same charm that the whole OST has, but oddly enough, it’s also is one of the most inspiring video-game songs I’ve heard, and I really like it for that.
Rude Buster by Toby Fox ( https://open.spotify.com/track/322mgWaD4DetiHmoDVlwWc?si=SoDkJjx7RnuFFNaSqphxOQ ) - It’s Toby Fox
Field of Hopes and Dreams by Toby Fox ( https://open.spotify.com/track/2W90IO8eRnFg1qsPunKm9B?si=YxbGoJzuRky4qVuF7KId-Q ) - It’s Toby Fox
Light on the Land by Nujabes ( https://open.spotify.com/track/2rUaktaAxshyPzIdAKzk1Y?si=7qKXNsFfTGagN41Zkii6RQ ) - It’s Nujabes. Good for long nights.
Osaka by Magic Circuit & Nyanners ( https://open.spotify.com/track/4vt9IeeqPgmCh5E34rlJe0?si=_XXb1Y7_ToWF_2aYTQr9Xg ) - There’s is not one part of this song I don’t enjoy. The lyrics, the singing, the tone, the notes, everything. This can easily jump into the ranks soon.
Current Top 10 Pieces of Music of All Time Of the Month:
10: [some text I can’t copy-paste] by ORESAMA ( https://open.spotify.com/track/1u3VGSAE8RfSGS4u0BPyRh?si=VGGjQKQmSc6Y1jdtd5rBzA ) - This song is catchy and has so much personality... Plus, I can’t help think of Kirby and the Crystal Shards when I hear it, which is a great thing.
9: Darling by Tsundere Alley ( https://open.spotify.com/track/4q3vvu59rykZqQiOVW0lcj?si=MNwdqQD1QXuFqtBe7_vIUg ) - What am I hearing and why do I like it so much?...
8: Feather by Nujabes ( https://open.spotify.com/track/2ej1A2Ze6P2EOW7KfIosZR?si=nUB6iAifSMCMY0Gv93v-Fw ) - It’s Nujabes
7. Believe in Myself by AmaLee ( https://open.spotify.com/track/541NKK4h7UJgbdMbaccdiC?si=Y-m5lOD4QpSkpdx0IaVgSA ) - Boost your confidence. This song is an easy way to get through some hard days.
6: Life Will Change (P5) by AmaLee & Atlus ( https://open.spotify.com/track/6EC3QOcBWE1AMg6xdYMskY?si=5zbzDk0CRNOnIQYK_gq8pQ ) - My favorite song in Persona 5. One of the only songs that I’ll almost always sing in its entirety when I hear it (alone, of course). AmaLee is a legendary cover-artist.
5. Asteroid by GARNiDELiA ( https://open.spotify.com/track/28PF5hmg7Gc8s1dXe2Cqnp?si=z6NyTGXZQnyHIwoaEIrAXw ) - A classic for me at this point. On good days, it’s an enjoyable, good song. On bad days, the desperate tone of the song makes it quite more intense for me. Love it.
4. Bullet Waiting for Me (James Landino Remix) by Nikki Simmons (  https://open.spotify.com/track/7zPc0e7TrM8SyBa8753Kvd?si=HuWwLJ7FTOC5H3JtlGJ2dQ ) - A lovely song. A tad bit short.
3. Witch by Magic Circuit & Nyanners ( https://open.spotify.com/track/0xZWbHZcY41nnsDiyBVxUF?si=GrHojVTvSryMA-5r5xqXBQ ) - Witch is something incredibly special to me. The first time I heard this song was while I was mowing the lawn and had Spotify on some random-setting. When the singer began to sing, I felt very urged to hit the skip button and move on to the next song. But I gave the song a chance. With every listen since then, I liked the song more until I started to love it. At first, I did not understand the song’s meaning; I did not notice the parts of the song that now make me love it. The lyrics also hit me deep. Regardless of my mood, this song can make me teary 50% of the time. Also, this song is sung by Nyanners!!
2.Colorful World by Seira Kariya ( https://open.spotify.com/track/4vQIktmFEmQAfxxuZHGPEf?si=9NQs53FMRWa7XbJWwVlE0A ) - An absolute banger. One of the best songs that I’ve ever heard, for sure. It just forces joy upon you.
1: Wandering by A_rival ( https://open.spotify.com/track/5GyQ9UXSXhzmNJPhAQYYTY?si=w0X8YQnLQ5SYEgWcxTJ1PA ) - A great song that I refuse to ever get tired of. I will never not sing this while driving.
What absolutely shocking results. Were you as enticed as I was? Now, here’s some exclusive commentary on these results:
I can clearly distinguish the different tiers/levels in these rankings, levels that I don’t see any of the songs moving easily to or from. 9, 10 and every song not on this list that I like are in their own “enjoyable” tier. They’re nice. Then, we have 6, 7 and 8 in a tier above them. I don’t see many songs under this tier that I can see myself loving more than something like Feather or Life Will Change. That’s a challenge. Above that is 4 and 5. The songs in this tier or better are what I consider legendary songs, songs that I do not see myself ever getting tired of or forgetting about. However, there’s a clear distinction between 4 & 5 and 1,2&3. This last tier are SSS-tier songs, unforgettable classics that I will always love and be excited to hear come up, whether I’m driving, biking or just listening the music.
Now onto comments on specific songs. Bullet Waiting for Me just barely out-ranked Asteroid. This was a song that came out of nowhere and became an instant favorite of mine. However, I could see it falling down the ranks based on how short the song is relative to how long I want the song to be. For now, I placed it where I think it should be, but we’ll see in the future if that changes.
Witch is by-far the song that I am most emotionally invested in. I love it so much, and yet, I don’t consider it do be at the same level as Colorful World and Wandering... yet.. I definitely can see my feelings on this song relative to the others change as time goes on.. But for now, I see both Colorful World and Wandering to be perfect songs, no blemishes. I wouldn’t say the same about Witch, even if I love it. We’ll see though.
While Colorful World may just be the happiest song I’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing, Wandering has been and continues to be the most absolute classic for me. Colorful World causes immense joy, but Wandering makes me want to sing as loud as I can, something no other song causes me to do.
Well, that’s it! Hope you enjoyed some of this music and wasting your time! Until next time.

hoshi; strawberry bubblegum (m)
Tumblr media
feat. sex shop worker!Hoshi x female reader
genre/warnings: terrible generalizations of college parties, playful interaction, phone sex, slight dom themes, use of penetrative sex toys, squirting but honestly idk what this is really how on earth did we get here *hangs up*
word count: 3.6k
“I’m just looking,” you say, trying to swallow through your dry mouth.
Your tongue lays flat against your mouth like sandpaper as you watch Soonyoung from the counter. His elbows are perched across the glass display table, looking at you like a stray birdie who’s lost their way. “Looking for?” He asks.
“Just, some mints.”
“Oh, so breathplay?” He dives under the counter and picks up two tins, one blue and one red. “Hot or cold?”
“No, no.” You shake your head violently, Like, actual mints. Spearmint. Wintergreen, y’know?”
Stupid stupid stupid. You know this isn’t a Wal-Mart or Rite-Aid and they aren’t selling Altoids, but then again, it never crosses your mind that Soonyoung would be the one behind the register of your local mall’s sex shop.
Really, there’s nothing wrong with him working there, of course there isn’t. A job is a job and sex is something that deserves to be respected and treated to your own devices. But of course, Soonyoung is the reason you ended up here in the first place.
Soonyoung is a friend of a friend, one you’d make the occasional joke with at parties and exchange obscure memes with in your friend circle’s large group chat. On a much grander spectrum, he’s the theatre department’s star pupil. Sure, Junhui has unlimited power in the way he controls his limbs. Minghao sways like water and his body is absolutely mesmerizing and while Chan may be the cleanest dancer out of all of them, there’s something so captivating about Soonyoung that has you constantly craving more.
It’s what made those stupid college parties that much more bearable. Your vision blanks out to last week, where a very inebriated Soonyoung grabbed you in the middle of your tantrum because Seungkwan spilled his sangria down your shirt. You were painfully sober and wanted to go home, but Soonyoung wouldn't relent and spun you to an empty corner of the dance floor.
God. Soonyoung had moves. You remember the way he grabbed your hips like the sweetest sin, telling you to stay a little longer.
Could he tell you weren't drunk? Probably not, because his dancing was sloppier than usual, more focused on pressing his hips to yours, his hot lips fanning over your neck.
“You smell so sweeeet.” Soonyoung had slurred into your hair. “Like strawberries.”
“That’s the sangria,” you had reasoned into Soonyoung’s ear as his head droops along your shoulder. You feign drunkenness, leaning unceremoniously on his sturdy body when he tries to swing the both of you to the music.
“Mm, nope. That’s just you,” the warmth of his fingers bled through your waist, his honeyed voice leaving you molten. “I bet you taste just as sweet, too.”
Lord save me.
Ever since then, you’ve been nothing short of a mess. You don’t know where you and Soonyoung stand, and you’re too nervous to ask. You prefer to dance around the topic, and by that, ignore him at all costs until the next party. Anytime your group chat pings to Soonyoung or you pass him in the halls, you can’t help but be reminded of what could’ve been. The way he was rubbing circles along the dip between your shirt and waistband, and you, needy and attracted to him, was ready to pull him upstairs and show him how much you’ve wanted him all this time. Just as you were about to propose the idea, Seungkwan threw up and nearly passed out, and both of you begrudgingly scrambled with the rest of your group to take him home and care for him.
The hairs on your body are probably all standing up despite your warm sweater. This circumstance is entirely upon realizing that during your journey through the sex shop, a certain (the only) cashier has been eyeing you throughout.
Definitely not in a weird way, but in an all-too familiar way that makes your cheeks warm and your skin tingle.
Soonyoung is still leaning against the glass display case, elbows propped up and the heels of his palm tucked between his cheeks. There’s nothing particularly interesting about this, he looks like a regular student trying to get through his shift, dressed casually in his athletic clothes. The only thing that bothers you is the flicker of light dancing in his eyes, looking straight at you.
“You’ve been pacing the entire floor for the past ten minutes,” he drawls, tilting his head to the side. “I’m sure you’re not looking for just mints.”
You twitch, fisting a ballfull of fabric in the pocket of your hoodie. “Can you not tell that I’m kinda-sorta-seriously embarrassed that you’re here?”
“Oh, so it’s my fault?” Soonyoung points to himself, the bottom of his cotton candy pink lips jutting out in a way that makes your heart thump. He hops off from his place at the register, striding over to you with an eager smile.
Yes, it’s your fault. Your fault that I’m here because last week we could’ve spent the night and fuckin’Seungkwanjusthadtobarf–
“Not your fault,” you say archly, jutting your chin. “I’m just, frustrated.”
“Mm,” he hums, running his hand across the long line of products, you had no choice but to follow him. “What’re you looking for?”
“Just, a vibrator.”
“Size? Length? Width?” He suddenly pulls you to the end of one aisle, filled with vibrators. “Color?”
“Soonyoung,” you giggle nervously as he pulls out a box situated on the top shelf. “I can do it on my own.”
“As a worker, I’d nod my head and tell you if you need any help, I’m right over there,” he waves vaguely in the air, the other hand swinging around a neon studded dildo, “But as your friend. I’m telling you, let me help. Now, big or small?”
You freeze, biting your lip. “B-big.”
He doesn’t say anything to that, but instead throws the dildo back on its display. Soonyoung swings over to pull out a drawer on the floor with various boxes, picking and poking through them. You start to fidget in you place, nervously looking around the shop even though you are absolutely sure no one else is in the store. Soonyoung is picking out sex toys for you.
“Going to BTS tonight?”
“What?”
“Hobi’s throwin’ a banger.” He says into the drawer, threading through boxes of all sizes. “Yoongi and Jihoon are finally mixin’ together too. It’s gonna be a hell of a night.”
“Depends on Seungkwan’s stomach tonight,” you reply honestly, and you can’t help the satisfied smile on your face when you hear him chuckle, “Are you working all night?”
“Not all night, I’m coming late though.” He pulls out the box he wants with a satisfying “aha!” and hands it over to you. “Found the one.”
The box fills up both your hands, and you hold onto it as if you were holding a half-foot sub. With a little bit of toggling you flip open the top and pull out a long baby pink vibrator, with ridged edges and a heart shaped button. “It’s pretty.” You say, twirling the smooth silicone in your hand. It may just be Soonyoung’s job to help customers pick out something to satisfy their fantasies, but it certainly is perfect.
“And, it’s rechargeable.” Soonyoung pops in brightly, pointing to a little USB port. “Ah, the power of digital.”
“How much?”
“Nothing. It’s yours.”
“Wait, what?” You cry, handing it over to Soonyoung like it’s a game of hot potato. “If you let me take this without paying, you’re a terrible worker.”
“I’m not giving it to you as a worker, I’m giving it to you as a friend.” He insists, pushing it back in your grip. “You can’t not be in love with it, I mean, it’s cute as fuck.” He points to the little heart button in the middle.
“Yeah, but–”
“If you’re so concerned, Venmo me in the morning.” He looks a little bothered that you’re fighting so hard, because you and him both know it's absolutely futile. “But for now, just take it. Think of it as insurance.”
“Insurance for what?”
There’s nothing like betrayal from a person as attractive as Kwon Soonyoung. The smile that’s once teasing, even playful from having a casual conversation over vibrators is suddenly darkening. His eyes scan the room, as if there’s someone watching the both of you. If there’s a co-worker watching the security cameras or something, he doesn’t mention it as he leans down, his hot breath kissing your ear. “No matter what, I’m not planning on leaving you high and dry tonight,” he murmurs smoothly, his hand covering yours to tighten the plastic in your grip.
It’s officially 2:44AM and you’re currently tucked in your bed. Alone.
You don’t want to even move because you’re wet, mildly drunk, and very disappointed. You didn’t even put in the effort to change out of your party clothes, only putting in enough energy to shuck off your too-tight jeans and dive under the covers.
Trying to feign exhaustion, you close your eyes. To your chagrin all you can think about is Soonyoung, finally showing up after work and bringing a breath of fresh air to the overcrowded house. Shining like a little star in the middle of the floor as he slides up to you, hands automatically attaching onto the sliver of skin where your t-shirt ands and your jeans barely begin. Just like last week, but without a drip of liquor. He didn’t even take one shot, you note gleefully as his wet lips glide over your neck, feeling nothing but genuine, mutual pleasure from the both of you. The song playing in the back isn’t the smoothest, but Soonyoung’s nothing but swave as he says “you missed me?” while swaying his hips against yours. The way he flips you around to wrap his arms over your waist, pulling you closer as he rubs his length against your ass.
The vibrations of your phone break you out of your reverie, and to your sheer amusement, it’s Soonyoung.
“I fucking knew this was gonna happen again.” He snarls in the line, and you can already imagine him childishly shaking his head.
You both laugh, the tinkly sounds bouncing nicely off each other. “Not my fault. Chan was apparently your responsibility.” You say.
“Yeah, well. Chan can barely stomach three rounds of chocolate milk, I should’ve known he can’t even hold his alcohol.”
“Is he okay?”
“He will be. Passed out on the toilet and I had to carry him back.”
“That’s good.”
A beat of silence, and you hear a door click shut on the other line. “But are you good?”
“I’m good.”
“You would’ve been more than good if you came home with me tonight.” He mocks regrettably, and you’re reminded of the dampness between your legs. “Do you still have your insurance?”
Your eyes trail over to your nightstand, where the pink vibrator sits on a towel. Absentmindedly rubbing your legs together, you exhale into the line, “Yeah. I just cleaned it.”
“Really, just cleaned it? It’s like you knew this was gonna happen.” Soonyoung chuckles, “What a good girl.”
He’s toying with you. “It would’ve been better if I had the real thing.” You murmur into the line, giving him a taste of his own medicine. “Maybe you’re too much of a good boy to come over here and finish what you’ve started.”
Soonyoung curses into the line, and satisfaction swells in your body. There’s a bloated, palpable sexual tension that excites you, and while having Soonyoung with you would probably be better, this would suffice for now.
“Everyone went back to the party,” Soonyoung says in a last ditch effort, “And Chan’s out like a light.”
“I’m too wet,” you reply instantly, adding a whine for effect. And it isn’t a lie, you can feel your panties cling to your folds. “I’d be dripping down the entire road before I get to your place.”
“That sounds adorable.” Soonyoung says as if he’s talking about the weather. “But I guess hearing your pretty moans will do for now.”
“Will do?” You scoff into the line, sitting up straight.
He sputters into the receiver, and you can tell he only just realized how off-putting that backhanded compliment was. “Wait, I’m sorry–”
“I could hang up the phone and let you rub one off all alone, and in the lucky chance, Chan might puke before you’re able to come.” You say sharply, “Kwon Soonyoung, my moans better make you burst through your fucking pants.”
If it’s possible, you hear him gulp. “Will do.”
And a brief, frustrated sigh bubbles to your lips, and you run a hand through your hair. “I’m sorry, I wish we could’ve finished what we started earlier.”
“Mm,” he’s a little sad, a little longing, but you can tell that he’s trying to pick up from where he left off. “Your legs looked killer in those jeans. I couldn’t keep my hands off of you. I’m still hard, just thinking about you rubbing your cute ass in those jeans, right against my dick.”
Slowly but surely, you spread your legs, a finger rolling up and down your dampened panties. “I almost soaked through my jeans, feeling your bulge ride against me.” You bit your lip, swirling your fingers. “Those dancing pants, they’re thin.”
“Not thin enough.” He husks, and you can hear the static and the sounds of rubbing into the receiver, probably him pressing his lips closer to the screen. “Do you still have my gift?”
“Y-yeah.” You say softly, momentarily distracted by the way your fingers glide smoothly through the fabric.
“Fuck, are you touching yourself already?” You whimper in reply, and you hear him breathe into the line, trying to form a level response. “Be a good girl and grab the vibrator for me.”
Unless you put the phone on speaker, you had to use your other hand to grab the vibrator. In the fear of not wanting to accidentally hang up on him by putting your phone down, you reluctantly pull away from your clothed core, reaching for the rosy toy, cool to the touch.
“Now, put it on top of your clit.” He instructs delicately, and you quickly oblige. “Push the button into to the third setting.”
You think nothing of the instructions he gives you, and like a videogame you click at the diamond encrusted heart rapidly to three.
Suddenly, the vibrator springs to life, and you almost drop it because it is so strong. You initially pegged Soonyoung as someone who’d want to play around a bit, not cut straight to the chase. It buzzes so fast that you have a hard time pressing it firmly to your bud, feeling your whole body go into inferno.
“S-Soonyoung!” You cry, your phone trembling in your grip. “Too much!”
“Press it twice.”
You do so, and to your relief the tool rumbles to a semi-comfortable vibrating pattern. It’s enough to keep you riled, but not so hard that it burns a hole through the cotton. “Jeez, Hosh,” You say the nickname breathily, “Let a girl breathe.”
“Yeah but, I bet your panties are so soaked that you have to take them off.”
To your chagrin, he’s right. You rub the vibrator up and down your folds, “Yes. They’re staining my sheets, and I’m all sticky,” You lift the vibrator a centimeter off, the material glistening. “My juices are sticking to the toy.”
“Fuck, that’s so hot.” Soonyoung rasps. “I’d love to taste you right now.”
You press your phone to your ear, quickly using your free hand to shed off your underwear and throw them in your laundry basket. “Yeah?” You press the object against your folds again, but this time without the barrier of your panties. It feels even better. “What else do you want to do to me?”
“I want to kiss every fucking inch of you,” he grunts, the sound like dark chocolate melting  through your ears and straight through your core. “And use my tongue to lick that sweet pussy of yours until you come. And then I. Wouldn’t. Stop. I’d keep going all night just so I can hear those pretty little whines of yours.” He says slowly, deliberately, making sure you get every dirty detail. “Are you pretending that my tongue is that little toy? Does it feel good?”
On cue, the vibrator manages to wedge itself onto a particularly sensitive spot, and you moan into the receiver. “Y-yes Soonyoung.” You say breathily, “It feels so good, I, I want more.”
“You want more, baby girl?” He asks, and you can practically hear him smirking through the line, his pink tongue licking across his lips. “Press the button again.”
This time, the pulses are more drawn out, but powerful. Each wave sends you into another length of yearning, and you throw yourself against the pillows, clutching the sheets so hard that your knuckles lighten. “Sssssoonnn,” you cry, shaking your head, your hair probably buffing up the receiver. “Mmmp–”
“Do you hear this?” You press your phone closer to your ear, and you hear the faint, slick sounds of his hand pumping his dick. It’s in a rhythm mirroring the pattern of your vibrator, and it makes you even more aroused. “Do you hear how much I want you?”
“Fuck, Soon, I,” You twirl the vibrator closer to your entrance, “I wish we cut right to the chase when we had the chance. You could’ve fucked me against the wall in front of all your brothers and I would’ve been satisfied.”
“Careful,” he coos, but you can feel him stuttering in his hold, “God, I want to fuck you right now. Wanna–” he pumps faster, the sticky sounds bringing you closer to your high, “Wanna–ngh, wanna feel your walls clench around my hard dick, and milk me out.”
“Y’know, you’re the reason I went to that–ah–sex shop in the first place,” Sweat beads at your hair, and you click another button on the vibrator, eliciting another cry. You hear a low, sexy groan coming from the base of his throat, “I burnt out my old vibe, too busy thinkin’ about how different things could’ve been last week.”
“I’m glad,” he says shamelessly, “That way, every time you use your new one, you can think of me fucking you.”
“I wish, I wish this was your dick fucking me. I wish you could just hold me down and take me and clench around you so hard that you cum so deep inside that my walls cream–”
“Put it inside you,” he groans throatily, impatient, “I want you to put that vibrator in your pretty little pussy and pretend it’s my dick fucking you. You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
“Y-yes,” You put your phone across your thigh, bopping the speaker key before positioning the pink vibrator against your entrance. You hope he hears the slick sounds of the silicone slipping  inside your core, “C-can you hear that, Soonyoungie?” You say, pumping the object in in a slow rocking motion. “Can you–ah! Can you hear the vibe go deep in, my walls are dripping against it, it’s so smooth and wet.”
“Such a damn tease,” but you know he loves every second of it, as you hear his breaths burn harshly into the speaker. You let your eyes flutter shut, pretending Soonyoung really is in the same room as you. “I’m gonna come,” Soonyoung rasps. “I want you to push your vibe in and out exactly as you can. I fucking wish that could be my dick right now, fucking your little body raw. Be a good girl and take my dick?”
You can imagine how engorged his length must be now, his thumb flicking across the beads of moisture lapping at the tip, rubbing with the other hand like rapid fire. How Soonyoung’s strong hips and thighs are bucking into his hand with an utter loss of control, all because of you. Pleasure is like a blue flame, ripping through your folds. “I’m your good girl,” You echo, taking your other hand to rub circles into your clit, “I’ll take your dick whenever and wherever.”
“I’m coming,” Soonyoung grunts your name, and you bounce against your toy faster and faster, trying to meet his high as much as yours.
No one speaks, only the sounds of breathy moans and thick squelching. You hear both your bed springs rock, and you imagine how rough you two would both be and how fast you could break either of your mattresses with your combined weight. Within seconds, Soonyoung moans, the sound coats from the back of his throat, indicating that he’s finishing himself off. It encourages you to keep going, the thought of his come dripping off of his dick, landing on his belly and the rise and lull of his chest is enough to spark you wild.
You see white and black spots supernova into your vision, and your hand moves on its own, despite the extra dampness and the vague awareness that you’re coming, much more than usual. You moan out for Soonyoung, your legs shaking and the entirety of your body trembling like an autumn leaf.
You let the vibrator out with a “pop”, shutting it off and throwing it across your duvet. Your eyelids flutter open and regain its vision, and you note that something is dripping from your hand and your bedsheets are more absorbent than they let on.
“Soonyoung,” you whisper in disbelief, “Are you still there?”
“Mm, are you okay?” he asks throatily.
“I think I just squirted,” you say in awe, running your hand over the large damp spot, “I’ve never done that before.”
“Fuuuuccckkkkk,” you imagine him smacking his head against the headboard, “That’s so sexy, I can’t believe I missed that.”
“Not very sexy when you’re alone and have to clean up the mess,” you put your pillow over the spot, deciding you’re too tired to take care of it right now.
“I swear, once Chan wakes up I’m shoving him two Tylenols and booking it to your place. No way in hell am I going to let you get away again.” Soonyoung promises.
“I sure hope so.” You giggle tiredly, melting deeper into your sheets, “But the  vibe you picked out is actually pretty sweet.”
He snorts, “Wait ‘till you have the real thing, it’s sweeter.”

And SO. MUCH. MORE.
Major News and Announcements:
Tumblr media
This time last week, I was certain that we would be getting new music on the 6th because it was my birthday. Turns out, myself and many others in the Clique read a little too deeply into Clancy’s promise that “everything would be different” by morning. We did not receive new music on that date, which, for the record, was way earlier than most reports had pegged. The fanbase wanted music ASAP and interpreted the letter to fit that, and anyone who said the band lied about when music was coming was just not being honest with themselves.
Things were different starting last Friday. On the one-year anniversary of their departure, Twenty One Pilots directly reached out to their fans for the first time, not through the wide platform of social media, but with an email message to their mailing list.
Tumblr media
The message only consisted of the subject line “ARE YOU STILL SLEEPING?” and a gif of an opening yellow eye, with images fitting the iconography of the Dema site flashing under the eyelid. The Clique basically lost their minds at this direct contact, so much so that major publications like Billboard finally started to report on the long gestating speculation. Everyone was excited to see the eye open over the course of the day, bringing everything full circle and culminating (presumably) with new music.
Tumblr media
That... didn’t happen. Rather, dmaorg.info was restored after being down for only a few hours, and this gif of torches was added onto the site. This indicated that Clancy had escaped Dema, and the Clique promptly set about assuming that the next day would mark the band’s full return. Further, the name of the gif, “they_ca_ntseeFCE300″, seemed to confirm what people would be speculating ever since Josh dyed his hair nearly two years ago: the next era’s color would be yellow (specifically, FCE300) to symbolize hope and light pushing back against the dark.
Tumblr media
The next day brought with it another update from Clancy (and the general concession among the Clique to stop expecting new music every night and just go to bed). In one of my favorite bits of attention to detail so far, Clancy’s latest journal was messily handwritten on a scrap of paper, due to the fact that he had successfully escaped Dema and was now traveling through- big shock- a region called “Trench”. The writing itself is kinda rambly and generic (so I can relate), with Tyler Clancy marveling at how much he loves being in the trees being alone out in nature. That said, I do love that there is a definite story being presented, with Clancy experiencing changes, taking action, and going on a real journey through this world that Tyler’s created.
On the back of the paper, however, is something much more interesting: a blown-out image that, when reversed, revealed a dead body. That was creepy enough as is; far more creepy was the Clique’s CSI-level discovery that this ripped photo fit with several other dmaorg.info images in a giant puzzle. Who was this man? Was this a random poster that Clancy grabbed as he escaped, or are we supposed to take it as a metaphor? Was it a random citizen of Dema? A bishop? Clancy himself? Blurryface? So many questions.
Tumblr media
Twenty One Pilots truly made their mainstream return on July 9th, when they posted a second video of a half-opened eye, not just for hardcore fans, but on all of their social media platforms. This return was accompanied by a total overhaul of the band’s general branding: a new yellow-and-black ||-// logo was revealed for the new era, while the old “silence” banners and even the website subscription box were covered up by bright yellow tape. Billboards featuring the logo on this yellow tape aesthetic sprang up in cities all around the world, from London to Toronto, Berlin to Melbourne, even an entire building in São Paolo. The boys were back.
Tumblr media
On Tuesday, Twenty One Pilots again returned to social media to post a second video. The eye, now about 3/4 open, depicted even more of this medieval battle, now with the addition of the Watchers on the cliff throwing... something (rocks? rose petals?) into the air. Instead of generic white noise, this clip was scored by a muffled but still obviously crunchy bass line. As radio stations across the country began to tweet about a major alternative release coming Wednesday morning (with a few even mentioning they were from Columbus), we finally knew that we were going to be ok....
New Releases:

And then I was not okay.
Early Wednesday morning, Twenty One Pilots dropped two singles and announced the names and dates for the next album, Trench, and tour, Bandito. My prediction from last week was 100% correct, and you all may thank and validate me in the comments below like and subscribe. “Jumpsuit” is our main single with a full cinematic music video, while “Nico and the Niners” is the more lore-heavy low-key song for the fans. I’m going to pull back from fully going in on picking apart every sonic and thematic element of both songs and save that for (hopefully) a less busy week, but you know I gotta write about their first new music in two years. Cause that’s what I do: I write too much.
Tumblr media
Guys, “Jumpsuit” is a straight-up banger. Featuring a killer driving bassline, some of Tyler’s most impassioned screams, and a truly devastating bridge, I have not tired of this song one bit in the last few days. It takes me on a complete emotional journey in just four minutes every time, and it does so mainly through its soundscape (there’s only the hook, three couplet verses, and that damn bridge). It’s so, so, so, so good, potentially (dare I say it) the best sonically arranged and produced song the band has ever released.
So... what’s “Jumpsuit” about? Well, a lot of things, but in a word: pressure. Again, the lyrics are super vague, I think deliberately so. Clearly the song is about the singer feeling pressured by others into taking a path that he does not want to travel down. That bridge, delivered in an eerie detached falsetto, shows Tyler pushing back even at his weakest point, stating that he will not submit to what others want him to do unless they “grab him by the throat, tie him down, and break his hands.” Certainly you can argue that this is about the music industry. The “breaking his hands” line is killer in that context, as it signifies that the industry can’t control him without taking away the things that makes him valuable to them in the first place, his artistic ability and freedom. You can also say that it’s just playing straight into the concept, with Clancy breaking away from the bishops’ control. But the deliberate vagueness of the lyrics means that the audience can apply the message- and the empowerment of that killer bassline- to whatever struggle they are facing. That’s pretty darn rad.
Tumblr media
The music video, directed by “Heathens” and “Heavydirtysoul”’s Andrew Donoho, is sick. Tyler (looking extra fly in his new yellow hooded jumpsuit) attempts to flee from this creepy Red Riding Hood old dude on a white horse (Nico?) through what is certainly a Game of Thrones filming location while other figures in yellow duct tape jumpsuits look on from the cliffs above. Tyler is captured by the bishop, who “smears” him by putting the black Blurryface makeup on his neck. Tyler is freed briefly from the bishop’s control when the other yellow-clad figures throw yellow petals down on him, but he is chased down knocked out or killed. The others flee the scene, save for one very handsome looking drummer boy... Oh, and there’s a bunch of intercut clips of Tyler on the car from “Heavydirtysoul” for some reason.
Besides those “Heavydirtysoul” scenes, which truthfully don’t connect much to the story of the video beyond artificially welding it onto the end of the Blurryface Era, this is one of the band’s best videos yet. It totally fulfilled all of my expectations of a more epic scope for this era, from the gorgeous Iceland setting to the dope as hell costumes to the implication that the story might continue on from this point. And there are tons of little Easter eggs, from brief flashes of the nine bishops to possible cameos from the Josephs and Duns. We don’t really know for sure if Tyler is playing Clancy or if the red dude is Nico, but it will certainly be fun to continue to fill in the blanks as we move forward and (hopefully) hear more from Tyler directly.
Tumblr media
“Nico and the Niners” is a weird track, but one that I still absolutely love. In some ways, it’s a more traditional tøp track, with some of the raggae elements found on Blurryface and a rap verse to fit all of Tyler’s lyrics in. But in other significant ways, it’s a totally different path for them. For starters, just look at that title: it’s very explicitly about this album’s concept from top to bottom, with Tyler singing about fleeing Dema and its bishops’ control and even heavily referencing “Jumpsuit”; there’s clearly going to be a great deal of thematic cohesion in this project. But there’s also just the general vibe of it: just as “Jumpsuit” was a heavier rock song than anything we’d yet seen from the band, "Nico” is way more laid back, its repeated references to being high and even its visualizer of assorted shrubbery making it a potential stoner anthem (whether that was Tyler’s intention or not). Regardless, the song is brimming with character and hooks, and it’s already grown on me significantly in just a few days.
Oh, and one more thing: this song lives up to its Dema-referencing title and content by being cryptic af. The track is littered with reversed audio in the instrumental bits, including the “we are banditos” snippet from dmaorg.info and another sample of someone who sounds a lot like Josh saying “We will leave Dema at true east, renounce Vialism [the bishops’ ruling philosophy, alluded to be Clancy in an earlier journal].” I swear, if all it takes for Tyler to make all this stuff is a year break, he should do this after every album.
Tumblr media
With all that new music, the fact that we finally have a name for Album 5 almost got lost in the shuffle. Trench was a popular guess over the last few days thanks to dmaorg.info, but it’s good to finally know for sure. Graphic designer Brandon Rike from the Blurryface Era is back again, revealing a cover featuring a badass-looking vulture/falcon/whatever, some new logos (including the return of FPE!), and some more yellow tape that appears to be covering the names of the rest of the album’s songs. Not too much else to say at this point; we’ll just have to wait until some of that tape gets peeled off between now and October 5th.
Tumblr media
Finally, let’s talk about the Bandito Tour. It bears mentioning that, amidst the otherwise overwhelmingly positive positive atmosphere of the band’s return, this tour name received the most general opposition from fans and non-fans alike. The fact that “bandito” was probably going to turn up in a lyric from two decidedly white dudes was already enough to put some folks on edge, but the idea of an entire tour of predominantly non-Hispanic tweens flooding arenas and calling themselves banditos was enough to turn a few people against the band. And look, I get it- I hear “bandito” and the first things I think of are John Wayne Westerns and Speedy Gonzalez, and I get why a lot of fans might feel uncomfortable with that. But, to be fair, the band hasn’t used any of those stereotypes and banditos is a word for outlaw used in a number of Romance languages. Perhaps most interestingly, there’s not yet any evidence that the word even appears in the album itself. So far, the only appearance of “bandito” is in a coded message on dmaorg.info and in reversed audio in “Nico”. If this does turn out to be a name meant to only make sense to the most hardcore of fans, it is almost redeemed (I mean, I still think the name is a little silly, but I’m already in presale).
So, with that out of the way, let’s actually talk about the tour itself. It will be an international arena tour- even if the band’s sound is not going in a pop direction, they still clearly feel confident that the Clique will show up wherever they go. The first show will be hosted in Nashville (their first arena concert in that market) on October 16, not even two weeks after the release of the full album. What a baller move, and much preferred to the Blurryface rollout where we didn’t hear most of the songs on the record until nearly two months after the album release and they didn’t play near me for even longer. The boys will tour the U.S. until November 21, even playing arenas in a few markets that they’ve never played large venues in before, and then hit up Australia and New Zealand in December.
The most objectively interesting leg will be in Europe from January through March. Not only will the band play their first arena shows in markets like Moscow, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Central Poland, and Manchester, they will return to markets like Dublin and Glasgow they’ve been absent from for years. Most exciting, Twenty One Pilots will play their first shows in Bologna and Stuttgart and venture into the countries of Ukraine, Switzerland, Spain, and Portugal for the first time ever. Needless to say, the rabid fanbases of all of these regions are super excited, and I’m super excited for them!
Other Shenanigans:
Tumblr media
While Tyler has continued to stay silent (much as he has since mid-Blurryface Era), Josh immediately jumped back on Twitter with a standard Josh joke and even resumed his morning workout Snapchats. On Thursday, Josh even called into BBC Radio One with Annie Mac to give a quick interview about the new era. He didn’t provide a ton of information, but it was just a delight to hear our kid’s voice again. A few tidbits of info:
Josh reported that he was calling from Trench, I hate him.
The sick bass riff on “Jumpsuit” was born from soundchecks toward the end of Emotional Roadshow. He says that, as a result, it sounds closest to the Blurryface sound, serving as a good transition into the new era. (If this is what he thinks is close to Blurryface on Trench, this album’s gonna be nutter butters.)
Both Josh and Tyler are really nervous about the elaborate rollout, both out of the usual fear that no one stuck around and out of wariness of severely disappointing people when they hear the actual music (so far, so good...)
Trench continues to have the “diverse” sound of the previous records and also was designed to be played live.
Josh also tuned into Apple Music’s Beats 1 for an interview with Hanuman Welch. This conversation was less about the new album and more about the “hiatus”. More tidbits:
The band views collaboration as a “sacred” thing, and while they’re not against it in the future, it has to be done in a context that makes sense and not merely for marketing purposes.
The band has never used the word hiatus because they’ve been working. They drew back from the spotlight to allow themselves some time to recharge, but also because they were worried of oversaturation (particularly after the Grammys pushed them into that next-level pop culture sphere). Rather than make a bunch of social media posts that didn’t mean anything just to stay relevant, the band decided to draw back, focus on music, and in the process “thin the weeds” of fans who weren’t the diehards.
For the last few albums, the music has come from a specific personal place the band was at while write, whether it be a spiritual journey with Vessel or tackling insecurities on Blurryface. Josh says the same remains true with Trench, but notes that there will be a little more fleshing out themes by working on a specific story with this one (he still says it’s not really a concept album, but ok).
Believe it or not, we are not done. While the boys were blazing a brave new path forward, another bit of content reminded us of where the band came from. Greg Wells, the producer who made Vessel the masterpiece it was, gave an hour-long interview to Billboard’s Pop Shop Podcast. He mainly speaks about getting started in the industry back in the 90s and working on the mega-blockbuster Greatest Showman soundtrack, but he does talk about Vessel for a bit approximately forty minutes into the interview. I won’t give the exact time-code, not because I’m lazy, but because the entire interview is worth listening to. Greg just seems like a rad dude. His laid-back nature and the seriousness he takes with his craft really shine through; he and Tyler must have gotten along just fine.
Community Spotlight:
The Clique took some heavy losses over the last year, as a great deal of old fans moved on to greener pastures. But that just left room for a whole host of new fans to rise to the occasion and help us get through that long drought. Today, I wanted to give a shout-out to GingerSheep and Stolen Potential, two Clique vloggers that have really kept the fanbase informed and uplifted and have been working their butts off reporting on the daily content. I know how long it takes me just to research and write one of these- I can’t imagine the work that then goes into filming and editing on top of that nearly every day. Hats off to you, good sirs. Make sure you all check out their channels if you haven’t already! But, you know, don’t stop reading these. I have bills to pay with all the Tumblr money I’m not making.
Well, that wasn’t too much, was it? If you made it all the way to the end, mad props. See you next week for a slightly tamer week (probably).
Power to the local dreamer.
