He learns it pretty early, when he and Alec start having sex and then he stabs James in the leg and leaves a two inches long white line that doesn't ache after the first month of painkillers. Alec is the first of a long line of memorable little scars he sometimes forgot his body it's home to. Vesper goes away with a neat little thing around his thumb, Camille leaves him with a decoration around his ankle, Silva isn't his lover but leaves something behind too, imprinted in his left pectoral it's a vague form that, in bad days, seems like an S and in good ones it's just a shadow. His step-brother leaves him stuck in bed for two months, a white and pink spot on his right temple, constant headache and the ability of loosing time when least convienet. James almost looses his job because of Franz but he retires, runs away, before M can demande a psychological evaluation plus a physical one just to be sure. What Madeline leaves behind is a sunburn, at the beginning, because they forgot sunscreen, heartache not even three days later and another scar around his left knee. When he's on a plane for Jamaica he asks himself why they can't all leave his fucking knee in peace.

James learn fast how lovers leaves him with scars before, or after, trying to kill him. He learns to forget about it and can't recognise the white lines on his body most of the time. He has do many of them everywhere that how could someone pretend to know even the smallest ones?

Q doesn't leave, nor tries to kill him. A year pass and then another and, before he realises their fifth anniversary comes around and James xab't almost believed it. Q doesn't leave scars on him and he kisses his body with the same reverence and attention he puts in his work. He doesn't ask about the whys and the whats or the hows and helds him against his chest when is James the one who wants to talk.

Q doesn't leave scars behind or really never leaves him but his cats try, and sometimes succeed, to drain as much blood out of him as they can. Q kisses that stretches with the same adoration but only laughing a little when it happens.

“Yeah yeah, come on then.” Spiderman trails after him, thankfully not dripping blood on the wood floors. Though Roy thinks he wouldn’t mind cleaning up the mess. “Spidertwat.” Spiderman laughs at that.
