I JUST REALISED I NEVER POSTED ABOUT SEEING ASSASSINS LAST YEAR ANYWAY HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVOURITE DETAILS (in no particular order
BOOTH STARTED IN THE AUDIENCE. Okay so I was sitting on the second row, right? And like, they did the first song, and Booth wasn't there, and when they do the "hey gang, look who's here" bit, its Prop noticing him in the audience. And from behind us, I hear "you want me up there?" and all the assassins start cheering and beckoning him up, and he goes "no, no, i'm just here to watch" and they all keep cheering and he kind of sighed and was like "oh, okay" and just GOT OUT OF A SEAT AND WALKED UP THE AISLE AND CLIMBED ONTO THE STAGE.
and then when he shot lincoln, he swung himself down the stairs off the stage and ran back up the aisle, and the "sic semper tyrannis" wasn't yelled by him, it was yelled by all of the other assassins. which was just. a really cool parallel to oswald.
oswald firing the shot at JFK was done really well. like, the other assassins kind of literally FORCED HIM. like, fromme and booth were holding the gun steady so he couldn't move it, and guiteau was holding his arms.
Moore was incredible during the gun song. as always. just. emptied her bag by throwing the things that she didn't want and therefore forcing guiteau and the others to keep ducking out of the way of flying objects. apart from the shoe, which she gave to guiteau. and he just held. and then when booth confiscated her gun, guiteau gave her the shoe back and she was just waving a shoe for the rest of the song.
Back to Oswald, they had two different people playing Oswald and the Balladeer, and the death of the balladeer was like, they tore her instrument off her and started ripping the petticoats out of her outfit and forced her offstage, and then the guy playing Oswald was the guy who was the bartender in the saloon, so Booth reaches over the bar, grabs him by the front of his shirt, drags him OVER THE BAR, THROWS HIM TO THE STAGE AND RIPS HIS DRESS-SHIRT OFF HIM, TO REVEAL HE'S WEARING LEE'S TSHIRT UNDERNEATH.
When Oswald tried to flee from the assassins, Booth chased him up and down the aisle and back up onto the stage, and Guiteau had to hold Booth back from attacking Lee when he was calling him a vacuous vapid non-entity. Like, Lee was kinda curled up on the stage and Booth was standing over him SCREAMING and the others had to hold him back.
Lee was killed at the end of Something Just Broke, they did the famous photo shot, and then the lights went out, and when they came back up they were back in the carnival and Lee was like, freaking out and patting himself down where he'd been shot (which has like, so many intriguing implications im OBSESSED.)
Booth did kiss Prop, which I am willing to accept only because Prop also had immense sexual tension with Squeaky (she had all of the guns on her person, and the one that she gave to Squeaky was in a thigh holster and she made squeaky take it OUT of the holster herself and they were very up in each others spaces about it.)
Booth stole the Balladeers banjo during the ballad of booth because the balladeer was pissing him off. Also Booths death was done by the balladeer shooting him and dragging his body off-stage rather than him shooting himself.
FROMME KEPT TRYING TO PICKPOCKET MOORE DURING THEIR SCENES TOGETHER. AND SHE WAS NOT SUBTLE AND MOORE ABSOLUTLEY NOTICED BUT SHE JUST KEPT TRYING.
How I Saved Roosevelt was done so cleverly, like, the actual song was done by Zangara forcing his way through the crowds, and during the bystanders versus they would step in front of him, so in his verses he was just running back and forth across the stage trying to get in front of the cameras but there was always a bystander in his way.
they hung guiteau from the ferris wheel in the carnival. not particularly important but the imagery was haunting.
the proprietor playing like, davey and emma goldman and the accomplicaces/people related to the assassins was so clever because it really leant into the temptation aspect of the character and i very much enjoyed it, because even when she was being goldman or davey or whoever, she was still also being the proprietor.

Victoria Spivey
Victoria Regina Spivey (October 15, 1906 – October 3, 1976), sometimes known as Queen Victoria, was an American blues singer, songwriter, and record company founder. During a recording career that spanned 40 years, from 1926 to the mid-1960s, she worked with Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Clarence Williams, Luis Russell, Lonnie Johnson, and Bob Dylan. She also performed in vaudeville and clubs, sometimes with her sister Addie "Sweet Peas" (or "Sweet Pease") Spivey (August 22, 1910 – 1943). also known as the Za Zu Girl. Among her compositions are "Black Snake Blues" (1926), "Dope Head Blues" (1927), and "Organ Grinder Blues" (1928). In 1961, she co-founded Spivey Records with one of her husbands, Len Kunstadt.
Born in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of Grant and Addie (Smith) Spivey. Her father was a part-time musician and a flagman for the railroad; her mother was a nurse. She had three sisters, all three of whom also sang professionally: Leona, Elton "Za Zu", and Addie "Sweet Peas" (or "Sweet Pease") Spivey (August 22, 1910 – 1943), who recorded for several major record labels between 1929 and 1937, and Elton Island Spivey Harris (1900–1971). She married four times; her husbands included Ruben Floyd, Billy Adams, and Len Kunstadt, with whom she co-founded Spivey Records in 1961.
Spivey's first professional experience was in a family string band led by her father in Houston. After he died, the seven-year-old Victoria played on her own at local parties. In 1918, she was hired to accompany films at the Lincoln Theater in Dallas. As a teenager, she worked in local bars, nightclubs, and buffet flats, mostly alone, but occasionally with singer-guitarists, including Blind Lemon Jefferson. In 1926 she moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she was signed by Okeh Records. Her first recording, "Black Snake Blues" (1926), sold well, and her association with the label continued. She recorded numerous sides for Okeh in New York City until 1929, when she switched to the Victor label. Between 1931 and 1937, more recordings followed for Vocalion Records and Decca Records, and, working out of New York, she maintained an active performance schedule. Her recorded accompanists included King Oliver, Charles Avery, Louis Armstrong, Lonnie Johnson, and Red Allen.
The Depression did not put an end to Spivey's musical career. She found a new outlet for her talent in 1929, when the film director King Vidor cast her to play Missy Rose in his first sound film, Hallelujah!. Through the 1930s and 1940s Spivey continued to work in musical films and stage shows, including the hit musical Hellzapoppin (1938), often with her husband, the vaudeville dancer Billy Adams.
In 1951, Spivey retired from show business to play the pipe organ and lead a church choir, but she returned to secular music in 1961, when she was reunited with an old singing partner, Lonnie Johnson, to appear on four tracks on his Prestige Bluesville album Idle Hours.
The folk music revival of the 1960s gave her further opportunities to make a comeback. She recorded again for Prestige Bluesville, sharing an album, Songs We Taught Your Mother, with fellow veterans Alberta Hunter and Lucille Hegamin, and began making personal appearances at festivals and clubs, including the 1963 European tour of the American Folk Blues Festival.
In 1961, Spivey and the jazz and blues historian Len Kunstadt launched Spivey Records, a low-budget label dedicated to blues, jazz, and related music.
In March 1962, Spivey and Big Joe Williams recorded for Spivey Records, with harmonica accompaniment and backup vocals by Bob Dylan. The recordings were released on Three Kings and the Queen and Kings and the Queen Volume Two. Dylan was listed under his own name on the record covers. A picture of her and Dylan from this period is shown on the back cover of the Dylan album, New Morning. In 1964, Spivey made her only recording with an all-white band, the Connecticut-based Easy Riders Jazz Band, led by the trombonist Big Bill Bissonnette. It was released first on an LP and later re-released on compact disc.
Spivey married four times; her husbands included Ruben Floyd, Billy Adams, and Len Kunstadt.
Spivey died in New York on October 3, 1976, at the age of 69, from an internal hemorrhage.

these are mostly Bloberta/Hymentacts related and were conceived in drafting the story that I'm working on. More info on that when I get further.
Eye colours: Clay has brown eyes, so does Orel but Orel's are more hazel; Bloberta's are blue, and Shapey's are grey-green
2. Bloberta is a few years (like 3) younger than Clay. Her sister Modella is three years older than her and her brother Lunchbox is six years younger.
3. Mrs Hymentact's name is Regina (proud of this one lol) because we know Bloberta's dad's name is Raymond. Clay's parents' names both start with A, Angela and Arthur. Regina makes sense, both R names and since it means 'queen' and she is clearly the matriarch.
4. That piano in the Hymentacts' living room- only Bloberta's mother, Regina, had jurisdiction over lifting the plastic cover on it.
4,5. One time Regina invited Bloberta to participate in the choir and she was ecstatic, but Regina just wanted her to play the piano for accompaniment and this made Bloberta feel invisible, to be sat behind the piano at church while her family sang in front of everyone. So that didn't last long.
5. In the first few years of her being married to Clay, Bloberta would meet with her father in town (usually at the pub), to just talk, but that fell off- mostly, Regina wasn't a big fan of the almost clandestine meetings and would rather Bloberta do things 'properly' and invite both her parents to the Puppington's house for dinner and to meet her husband and son.
6. Most of Bloberta's clothes are hand-me-downs from Modella.
7. While Bloberta likes rock and metal music, Modella is more into pop songs, as well as classical pieces. Bloberta was a teenager in the eighties and so listened to a lot of artists from that era, like the Cure, Judas Priest, Cinderella, etc, while Modella was into Madonna and Blondie and such, maybe Cyndi Lauper. They both had Walkmans. Bloberta had to mostly hide her music tastes from Regina who wouldn't approve. This is somewhat a plot point in my story but has more context there.
8. When Bloberta was 15 the Hymentacts took a trip to Manhattan for some choir related excursion. They took Bloberta since it was such a big trip. It was her first time on an airplane and all; she felt in awe at seeing the city skyline and then all the buildings, all this life, around them, as they emerged from the Lincoln tunnel.
On the trip she either trailed behind or just interacted with Raymond- Regina was more occupied with Modella (18) and Lunchbox (9). She wondered if Regina would even notice if she suddenly got lost... still, Bloberta has some nice memories of being there, seeing the Radio City Music Hall and other iconic buildings and nothing like she'd seen before. Modella had a camera to document the trip, and Bloberta wished she did, too, but she couldn't afford one and didn't want to ask.

favorite thing about them: her rebellious, fighting spirit is absolutely what drew me in (I feel like that was the case with so many of us!) I loved that she was very clearly the delinquents' WILD CHILD!
least favorite thing about them: I hated how she treated her brother sometimes. Obviously after Lincoln's death is the most glaring example, but it's not the only one. It's a shame we weren't given more opportunities to see the two addressing & healing from that toxic pattern they had going (because the Blake Siblings really were super important to each other!)

What Can I Do if The Fire Goes Out? By Gang Of Youths fits his exile arc, his relationship with Dream at the time as well as grieving Wilbur - “Do I throw my hopes in the fire? Do I throw my clothes in the fire? Do those things grow in the fire, or burn just to keep me compliant?”
Worried About Ray by The Hoosiers gives Pogtopia!Tommy vibes, with the way he wanted to protect L’Manberg and protect Wilbur - “the truth be told, the truth be told, I’m worried about the future holds, the future holds. I’m so tired of being worried about Ray.”
A lot of AURORA songs give me Tommy vibes but especially It Happened Quiet which reminds me of his third death. She uses a lot of nature related metaphors in her songs which I think fit his character - “Eyes blue and hollow as it rains against their will”
Good Grief by Bastille is such a c!tommy song about grief and how he processes people dying/leaving. I can’t emphasise this enough - “You might have to excuse me, I’ve lost control of all of my senses. You might have to excuse me, I’ve lost control of all of my words.”

Ramblings of a Lunatic by Bears In Trees, specifically for the election era but probably fits most of his L’Manberg arc - “Cause all my friends are dying, some faster than the others. I’m trying to distract myself from the fears that I’ve discovered.”
Youth by Daughter reminds me of the legacy that Wilbur left behind once he died on Nov 16th after blowing up L’Manberg. It’s such a sympathetic song, too - “Collecting pictures from the flood that wrecked this home, it was a flood that wrecked this home, and you caused it”
Saint Bernard by Lincoln fits Revivedbur so so much, but specifically in Hitting On 16, his relationships with Quackity, Tommy, and how he felt about the way people treated Dream (read: how he felt they treated him) at this time - “I said ‘make me love myself so that I might love you’, don’t make me a liar, cause I swear to god, when I said it I thought it was true.”
So many Lucy Spraggan songs?? It’s so hard to pick just one but I’m gonna go with Roots for reflecting on the early days of the L’Manberg era - “I bought a big house in the country, I live there now, does nothing for me. Bought a fast car, white and sporty, when I look back I was pretty poorly.”

Tongues and Teeth by The Crane Wives as a puffychu song during Niki’s rocket duo arc? Pain. Pain and suffering - “Abandon all your stupid dreams about the girl I could’ve been, my dear. Cuz in the night I know you burn with feelings I cannot return, my dear. Oh, my dear.”
The Calling by The Amazing Devil is such a Doomsday Niki song about her looking back on her life and who she used to be - “I look into the water and see a face I don’t understand. We’re both unwanted daughters, but there’s more than water in these autumn hands.”
Moonsickness by Penelope Scott is literally Manberg Niki and how she was trying so hard to fight for her home but it was futile - “And in your blood you know what’s right, and in your bones you know what’s wrong, and in your throat you know that you’re lying to kids and you know nobody belongs in this hell”
ilomilo by Billie Eilish about post-nov-16th rain duo from Niki’s pov - “I tried not to upset you, let you rescue me the day I met you, I just wanted to protect you, but now I’ll never get to.”
I also think that The Call by Regina Spektor fits all of the L’Manbergians and what they value and their experiences during and after that arc - “And then that word grew louder and louder, till it was a battle cry. I’ll come back, when you call me. No need to say goodbye.”
I’ve been saying since 2021 that The Horror and The Wild by The Amazing Devil is literally Phil and Wilbur talking in the button room, with Phil being the part of Madeline Hyland and Wilbur being Joey Batey - “Think of all the horrors that I promised you I’d bring, I promise you, they’ll sing of every time you pass your fingers through my hair and call me child - witness me, old man, I am the wild.”

Oh my gosh, great questions!
1. I haven't played Stardew in a while, I'm so excited for the update but I play on Switch so I'm patiently/not-so-patiently waiting for the console update. That said, probably Linus? I just really like him. He does his own thing vibing up in his tent. I always try to give him tons of gifts and food. He's a nice guy who clearly has no interest in the town drama and he makes me smile.
2. This is not that hard for me because I actually have a quote tattoo'd on my arm. This is where y'all learn what a huge freaking dork I am but it's a quote from Abraham Lincoln's 2nd Inaugural Address, where he was basically saying "Damn this war sucks but we have to see it through." The quote is "With Malice Toward None."
However, I also desperately want "Don't Panic" on my right forearm in big, friendly letters from Hitchhiker's Guide and only the fact that I usually have other things to spend money on than tattoos has stopped me so far.
If I were going to get a VC related quote, it would probably be something like "Don't be a fool for the devil, darling." Most other VC quotes I love feel too long.

Ernestine Wade (August 7, 1906 – April 15, 1983) was an American actress. She was best known for playing the role of Sapphire Stevens on both the radio and TV versions of The Amos 'n' Andy Show.
Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Wade was trained as a singer and organist. Her family had a strong connection to the theater. Her mother, Hazel Wade, worked in vaudeville as a performer, while her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Johnson, worked for the Lincoln Theater in Baltimore, Maryland.
Ernestine grew up in Los Angeles and started her acting career at age four. In 1935, Ernestine was a member of the Four Hot Chocolates singing group. She appeared in bit parts in films and did the voice performance of a butterfly in the 1946 Walt Disney production Song of the South. Wade was a member of the choir organized by actress-singer Anne Brown for the filming of the George Gershwin biographical film Rhapsody in Blue (1945) and appeared in the film as one of the "Catfish Row" residents in the Porgy and Bess segment. She enjoyed the highest level of prominence on Amos 'n Andy by playing the shrewish, demanding and manipulative wife of George "Kingfish" Stevens. Wade, Johnny Lee, and Lillian Randolph, Amanda Randolph, Jester Hairston, Roy Glenn (and several others) were among the Amos 'n' Andy radio cast members to also appear in the TV series.
Ernestine began playing Sapphire Stevens in 1939, but originally came to the Amos 'n' Andy radio show in the role of Valada Green, a lady who believed she had married Andy. In her interview that is part of the documentary Amos 'n' Andy: Anatomy of a Controversy, Wade related how she got the job with the radio show. Initially there for a singing role, she was asked if she could "do lines". When the answer was yes, she was first asked to say "I do" and then to scream; the scream got her the role of Valada Green. Ernestine also played the radio roles of The Widow Armbruster, Sara Fletcher, and Mrs. Van Porter.
In a 1979 interview, Ernestine related that she would often be stopped by strangers who recognized her from the television show, saying "I know who you are and I want to ask you, is that your real husband?" At her home, she had framed signed photos from the members of the Amos 'n' Andy television show cast. Tim Moore, her TV husband, wrote the following on his photo: "My Best Wishes to My Darling Battle Ax from the Kingfish Tim Moore".
Wade defended her character against criticism of being a negative stereotype of African American women. In a 1973 interview, she stated "I know there were those who were offended by it, but I still have people stop me on the street to tell me how much they enjoyed it. And many of those people are black members of the NAACP." The documentary Amos 'n' Andy: Anatomy of a Controversy covered the history of the radio and television shows as well as interviews with surviving cast members. Ernestine was among them, and she continued her defense of the show and those with roles in it. She believed that the roles she and her colleagues played made it possible for African-American actors who came later to be cast in a wider variety of roles. She also considered the early typecast roles, where women most often were cast as maids, not to be damaging, seeing them in the sense of someone being either given the role of the hero or the part of the villain.
In later years, she continued as an actress, doing more voice work for radio and cartoons. After Amos 'n' Andy, Wade did voice work in television and radio commercials. Ernestine also did office work and played the organ.
She also appeared in a 1967 episode of TV's Family Affair as a maid working for a stage actress played by Joan Blondell.
Ernestine Wade is buried in Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Because she had no headstone, the West Adams Heritage Association marked her grave with a plaque
