If you want to buy a Wacom, Huion or Gaumon device, I'd recommend either looking into an alternative or buying secondhand/refurbished from 3rd party sellers on Ebay or something. Avoid Amazon for all the obvious reasons.

Idk if you've been asked this before but would you mind sharing what tablet setup you're currently using? What would be your dream setup if you don't already have it?
I use a Bamboo CTH-670 that was released around 2012
Ideally I'd be using my Artisul A1201 but the drivers conflict with Wacom's and I missed my baby
This is my dream setup 💕 I am super comfortable and there is plenty of room on my desk for my cat to sleep (which she's doing right now)

#it is not actually new#but i lucked out finding a 22hd cintiq for pretty cheap#fingers crossed nothing's wrong with the pen capabilities on it but it does turn on and it should connect just fine#did it have any cables outside of the power cable? no. do i know what cables it needs and how to buy them? yes.#chispeaks#22hds are workhorses so i'm pretty pleased with it#and if it doesn't work i'm not like... totally out to water. there's a return policy.

I need somebody to invent a pair of gloves for the eczema girlies with super dry winter skin so that we can lube up our hands with extra greasy lotion but still go about our day and use electronics/touch screens without leaving a trail like some kinda slug.
I do it at night sometimes with cotton gloves but that is also not always the best solution.

Q: Does your Durge have a name?
A: Nope! I named him "drow" when I played the game because I didn't feel like thinking up anything special. His lack of a name has become part of the character's lore and you will find him to always be tagged with "DU drow", or referred to as The Drow or just Drow.
Q: Where can I read your BG3 fan-fiction? And what is it about?
A: Right here! The main plot follows DU Drow, Astarion, and Shadowheart on a new adventure that fractures into a couple of different directions, but mainly focuses on the aftermath of the spawn that Astarion has released and the personal development of the main cast, alongside a number of original characters that get involved in the narrative. My goal was to create a kind of "DLC" experience, so you can expect a lot of themes that parallel the main game.
Q: Can I draw one of your characters, a scene from your story, or any of your characters interacting with mine/other characters? And can it be NSFW in nature?
A: YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN, AND I'LL BE DELIGHTED TO SEE IT IF YOU CARE TO SHARE. I'm equally fine with NSFW as long as everyone involved (in the art and otherwise) is an adult.
Q: What drawing software/tablet/brushes do you use?
A: I draw on a Wacom Cintiq 22, using Clip Studio Pro. I switch around brushes quite often but most of what I use comes from the DAUB super-bundle by Paolo Limoncelli.
Q: Where can I find more of your work?
A: You can find mine and my partner's comics here, but please bear in mind that most of it is highly violent stuff and you should read the content warnings on the store page carefully before making any purchases - if in doubt of whether or not any of it could be detrimental to your mental health, DON'T BUY IT. I’m just getting into digital art and I’m not sure what to do re tablets. Can you use them with laptops? That’s the only kind of computer I have.. I heard Cintiq and Wacom are good brands? Sorry for this rambling question, and please ignore me if you have answered this before, thank you very much for such a helpful blog
Hey, no worries at all! Your question is a great one. I remember when I first started in the digital art world, and I had the same questions.
Yes you can absolutely use drawing tablets with laptops. That is how most of them work, all you need is a USB port to connect the tablet to your laptop, and you're good to go. Some newer tablets even offer Bluetooth connectivity, so you can go completely wireless if your laptop supports it.
Wacom is great! Cintiq is its more expensive line, where you can draw directly on the screen. I don't own one due to price, but I do use an iPad Air 4th generation and like it a lot. I have used Wacoms without screens and they are great, your hand eye coordination will get used to it. I've also used cheaper brands like xp-pen, and liked them a lot. Specifically, the Deco 03 (see my review here: Drawing Tablet Review: XP-PEN Deco 03) and the display screen artistul d12s (didn't review, got tired lol. It's good though!) . Honestly, for portability, I love to take my iPad on the go. But the tablets let you use more powerful drawing software and the ease of keyboard shortcuts, so honestly I'd try to test drive the products out.
Another thing I did when deciding which model to buy was exploring tons of reddit threads and asking around on art related chats lol.
Don't worry about rambling; we all start somewhere, and it's better to ask and get the info you need, as the options out there can be overwhelming.

Here he is, Mer-Moon from Galaxies, Lost in Ice! This took forever to get just right, between the creepvine (why did I think that was a good idea) and the shelf coral (I love the colors of it, I hated doing it) to trying to pick colors and redesigning Moon's head. In the context, Moon's head fin does glow (when he wants it to). I wanted to leave it optional on the coloring though. Moon has a large crescent shaped scar! ... on the other side of his face that I will eventually draw (one of these days). Compared to where he started, he looks pretty awesome now!!! Thiw was fun to work on, even if I frustrated myself (lost layers several times, crossed layers on accident, lots of "which layer is that dot on" and "why did I do it this way". The metal nib on my Cintiq definitely made this WAY easier, I spent way less time stressing about how badly I was wearing down the nib and wondering about replacing it and all that.
(Posting the lineart versions with transparent background and optional shading here too. I missed the deadline for the coloring book to officially submit it there, but I wanted it to still be available for people that wanted it! If you do color it, please just tag me as the original artist, I'd be excited to see some people's interpretations!)

What do you use to draw?
I have a surface pro 8 at home and I use a 22in cintiq at work. Occasionally… I do personal art at work LOL. I use Photoshop CC almost exclusively except the occasional phone drawing which I’ll do on HeavyPaint or Autodesk Sketchbook (but mostly Heavypaint).
What brushes do you use?
For painting I use the same horrible brushes I downloaded from deviantart like 14 years ago and I cobbled them together for download here. And for lines ive been using shiyoon kim’s brushes which you can grab here.
What do you use for plein air paintings?
If it’s digital, almost exclusively Heavypaint. Traditional, I use gouache. A mix of Holbein acryla and normal gouache either windsor newton or m. graham.
What kind of sketchbook do you use?
I use moleskine cahier XXL sketchbooks! I’ve been using moleskine cahiers for probably over 10 yrs now? they come in packs of 3 for like 30USD (the price went up recently booo but $10 per book is still not bad) for the largest size. I think a lot of people associate moleskine with intimidatingly fancy covers & paper but the cahiers are rly lightweight and flexible. you can bend the xxl into a roll like a newspaper and the covers are a light cardboard so you can draw all over them. I always have trouble with spiral sketchbooks getting fucked up in my backpack because I really throw my stuff around a lot but the binding on the cahiers can take a beating and have never fallen apart on me.
Do you take commissions?

What do you do?
I’m a professional 2D animator and storyboard artist for TV animation for both American and international productions. I've recently also started working as a character designer!
What shows have you work on?

What program do you use?
For storyboarding work: Storyboard Pro
For animation: CLIP Studio Paint EX, OpenToonz, After Effects, Audition

Cintiq 22HD (No Touch)
What art college did you attend?
I attended Montserrat College of Art as well as Niigata School of Art & Design.
Can I ask questions about the animation industry?
Absolutely! I want this blog to be a space where I can share knowledge about the industry to those who are interested in working in this field. So please don’t be shy and drop an ask if you are every curious about what’s like being a board artist and animator for TV animation.
Just please behave and do not ask any questions in regards to projects I am legally contracted to not talk about until the official release. As well as bringing up any sort of rumors/gossip about productions. This space is meant to be educational and not a drama stirring blog. If anything, I will delete these kind of questions with no hesitation and zero tolerance.
What does 38sr mean?
38sr is the 38th element of the periodic table, strontium. The element is actually used for pyrotechnics and gives off a red color when ignited. It’s simply my favorite element.
Can I use your art as my dp (profile picture)?
As long as you give credit in your bio or somewhere I can see it, then yes you can.
Can I repost your artwork?
No. Please don’t ever repost my work. I will find you. It’s not that hard.
Do you do AI or NFT work?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. Sorry, I don't wanna get into the crosshairs about this. Just know it's a nah from me.
Do you do requests/commissions (illustration or animations)?
Not really. It’s hard to explain but if you wish to hire me as an animator or artist for a project (animated productions, zines, etc), please send a business inquiry to my business email. But if you’re looking for just regular commissions where it’s more open to the general public, then no. My work schedule is quite packed so I don’t have the capacity to do commissions like I used to years ago.

Hey, everyone! Thanks again to all the new followers from Twitter for coming along for the ride! Thought I’d drop back in to share what’s been going on with the future of the comic, and to get some feedback from you all regarding how the issues should be published for viewing.
Okay, so… first and foremost I’ve decided to organize posts here via the follow hashtags.
“#ThomasBeyondComic” will be associated with every NEW issue/installment available. These posts will contain the download links to comic files, so they can be read on own your device whenever/wherever you please.
“#ThomasBeyondUpdate” will be for posts such as these, detailing progress on the project.
The very first issue of ‘Thomas: Beyond’, “Station Pilot”, is currently in the process of being illustrated, script has been finalized as I did a few rewrites since the last update post. I’m hoping you guys will enjoy it. I can’t say when it will be out, as I’m currently awaiting for my new tablet to arrive… it’s a cintiq too! My very first one, so I’m really excited to see what I can do with it. All I ask is that you all remain patient. I’m not sure when it’ll be ready. Stay tuned, though!
I’m currently trying to think of the most convenient way to upload completed files for future issues. I mentioned a PDF download format, but I was also entertaining the idea of using a CBZ option alongside it, although in that might end up being a bitttt redundant since less people are going to end up being able to open that file type… What’s the most ideal way you all would be able to read it? Give me some suggestions, I’m open for ideas.
