Lemme tell you the ones I missed upset me lol it was fun anyways!!
Try it yourself!! What was your score?
Protip: write down the ones you know, but can't spell and move on. Then towards the end just start typing into google lol it'll give you the correct spelling without showing you the whole list
Be honest!! It's about having fun 😄😄
Don't look below till you try yourself ;)
I missed:
Zubat/Golbat (🙃)
Venonat/Venomoth
Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam
Tentacool/Tentacruel
Slowpoke/Slowbro (???? How???)
Shelder/Cloyster
Likitung
🥲😅
Btw for those of you wondering how I could've missed them, that don't know how sporkle works: you just have to type names into a grid lol they don't show you pokémon to name, they just give you an empty grid to fill in! It's fun but more challenging than you'd expect!!

I'm the anon who sent you the long message that apparently came off "pompous & infantilizing" and more to your followers.
I find it interesting that that message sparked such a flood of defenders, when I did not send it in bad faith at all. From your answer it seems I'm lacking context so sorry if I took some of your statements the wrong way, but nonetheless I just found the parental love addition strange and reacted to that, that was all there was to it. I clearly stated (three times) I'm not taking any issue with your headcanons.
By saying they are far removed from canon I did not mean to say they are "too unrealistic" or something is wrong with that, I literally said the opposite. I meant just that, that factually, this will not be a common interpretation for someone who is familiar with the source material but not your blog. This is not a statement that I made with any judgemental value and I thought I made that very clear but apparently not.
So I'm sorry for the additional ask.
Have a nice day.
Thank you for the response.
I was fully aware you said there was no issue with what I drew, but the way you wrote everything else sort of negated that statement. At least that's how me and many other people saw it.
If someone finds what I drew strange or confusing then they could always just... block me or ask me about it (and btw I expected people to be confused, otherwise I wouldnt have labeled it "non-coupling" as soon I posted it lol)
Someone did ask me about it, and you seem to have already seen that response, yet you still felt the need to send another message basically implying that an explanation wasn't enough (turns out it actually wasnt enough because people said I was lying and in denial) and that my explanation was weird too? Which is whatever I already ended up clarifying that, English is not my first language and I type things with the help of a translator (I wish people could actually keep this in mind. I only type in English because it'll reach a wider audience and it's the language most of my followers know. Often I have to google words people tell me online, or I ask my friends fluent in English to explain things for me)
You can say "that's not what I intended" but that's how it came across... you wrote a lot of nice words while also saying it was understandable that people were ganging up on me over a drawing, it seemed patronizing.
That's why me and others took offense to it, but I think it's difficult to tell tone through text so I don't want to keep nitpicking this any further. If you say you had no ill intent then I believe you.
The following will just be me adding more context and not necessarily aimed at you: Again I understand the lack of context of my account can make people confused about my art, Ive made that clear many times.
The art I made where I said "if your parents didnt love you then it's obvious" was a direct response to people who were mocking me specifically for tagging the art as "non-coupling" because they didnt believe me. They got the context and decided I was trying to hide a fetish because a kiss on the cheek was "obviously shippy". They proceeded to compare this to drawing NSFW of Mob and Reigen by labelling it "non-ship" as if it was comparable to tucking a child into bed, that's what upset me. I did absolutely nothing to these people, I dont know them, if they said this privately I wouldnt care but it was public, and they also targeted another friend of mine for no reason.
All Im gonna say is that my drawing shouldnt have caused this much controversy in the first place. I labeled it "non-coupling" as soon as I posted it, which should've been enough honestly. It's not like I posted porn or anything like that, I got the idea from something Ive experienced in my family as a teenager and I could easily google stock images of the exact same scenario to use as reference, like I really didnt think it was that bad.
Anyways I think I've explained myself many times already. Im not gonna be hostile and say to people "roh t9awed dont ever send me anything else related to this" but just.. check if Ive already answered your question so that it doesnt end up being repetitive. If you have a question about this that I havent answered yet, then feel free to ask.

eyo, it's rorrimehtienoeht from over on ao3. hope it's okay I talk to you here! just saw one of your tags and wanted to say: if you don't want to work on Bow, that's entirely valid, and no one's gonna judge you for that except your writing demons (who i will beat up with a stick).
If you do wanna continue it, though, would it be okay if I suggested outlining it? Like, beginning (which you already started), middle, and end - it doesn't have to be detailed, just a rough draft of how you see each part going. It's often that the scariest parts of multichapter works is not knowing where you're going next, or feeling like you have to should continue it past what seems like an end point. By creating a basic structure like that, the infinite stretch of 'oh god what do i do next' can become a lot more bearable as there's defined boundaries to work in. (as someone with anxiety, this is how i deal with most facets of my life past writing, lol)
and don't let your brain writing demons say that where you see it going isn't good enough!! I'll get more sticks if necessary!!
also: do u need me to beat up ur lizard brain with a stick too until it understands you saying odd stuff is incredibly chill with me (and other friendly peeps)? cause i can do that. dunno if the brain dablmage will be worth it, but I'm willing to try!
Tumblr media
omg..... it's totally fine to poke me on here....!
i do want to keep going with Bow! i do really enjoy what i've started and it's such a fun world to explore! it's just that the brain demons keep ragging on me that i could 'mess up', that someone in the future will say 'Bow's first few chapters were really good but then it just started going downhill', other nonsense like that. and those brain demons had stuck a rock in the gears of my brain. nothing was turning, nothing was forming, and i was stuck. i didn't know how to continue even though i did really want to, much less what kind of overarching plot could be at play.
luckily i am a huge fkcnin' nerd. i'm in a dnd campaign. to take my mind off of the stress of writing for a wider audience, i wrote some in-character letters he'd sent for my dm. some of the rocks those brain demons had stuck in my gears got loose.
then, today, i told myself to write something for Bow. stop overthinking this half-idea of mine and just write. and i did. as i wrote/am writing, the idea began to expand naturally. it felt good to be in the Bow world again. and a bolt of divine inspiration struck me between the eyes as i was thinking and writing and expanding.
let's see what all these connecting dots start forming, hm? 😈

House of Leaves talk- possibly a masterthread, since I'm gonna have Many Thoughts. None of them will be bigger or better or more well-put than the thoughts other people have had on it. But they're mine, and that's worth something to me.
Another minor disclaimer- I've only seen the Night Mind videos on the subject (though it was after I first read the book, and I don't remember much about them). I haven't sought out any media breakdowns, I haven't read much about the history of it. I think I prefer to not have the kayfabe broken until after my first re-read- and this is the only thing I feel this way about lol.
My tag for this will be #phleb of phlobs in case you don't wanna see it- blacklist away.
That said, here's a breakdown of it as I go.
And I think it's really interesting how the irl distribution of the original work mirrors the way The Navidson Record was (claimed) to have been distributed. Privately, passed by word of mouth, and even discussed in ways that are brought up on page 6- "People talked about the Navidson pieces because they were lucky enough to have seen them."
I'm re-reading HoL for the first time while listening to https://open.spotify.com/album/1NgF4hmK8qSegvS4dVSlnQ?si=y1N0VgiqTxSNb7i3nCrdlw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A1NgF4hmK8qSegvS4dVSlnQ
What does it say that this story now has no less than four editions irl? I own two¹- a 2-Color paperback and a 2-Color hardback (found in a secondhand shop and presumably signed by Johnny Truant himself²). It has crept its way into media literacy and analysis circles. It developed some level of Wider Audience outside weird pretentious nerds. It looms in the peripheral vision of culture in a way fully befitting of the house.
Just like The Navidson Record, methinks.
_____________
¹What I wouldn't give to be able to own a full color! I want that braille.

Despite the fact that I am getting more comfortable with being SaLS on main, I still get incredibly anxious when I get an anti message
I'm just so scared to have a callout post written about me, and you can never know who will or wont try to set you up for harassment (especially if they are an anti) It doesn't help that I'm incredibly anxious and paranoid a lot of the time
congrats on getting more comfy!! and yeah anxiety is a bitch but i believe in you! at some point you kinda get callous and desensitized to random messages lol
i dont mean to make it worse at all, and if that line of thinking doesnt work for you i apologize, but here's a few things ive picked up over the years:
it doesnt like... /really/ matter what you post. things that you or a wider audience consider "problematic" arent the only way you can get "cancelled". like i got called racist for pointing out that two phrases in different languages can be translated in the same way in english. like literally ranting in the tags about my own language ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so for people determined to look and sift for 'material' it wont really make a difference if youre posting incest fic or like.. oogling over the celebrity of the day, they just wanna pick a fight. so do what makes you happy anyway, it wont give them teeth if you dont worry about the content yourself. bc yeah it doesnt matter on the internet if you post fic or just aesthetics, they have the same 'moral' value and if you dont assign them different weights then someone else doing it shouldnt bother you either
in the.. absolute best gentlest and encouraging way to say this. you and like. all of us are just some randos on the internet. the chances of someone leading a /personalized/ harassment campaign against you, or even someone finding you that juicy of a target to have more people message you is like. /really/ low. even if you get messages from time to time, a whole ass campaign is unlikely unless you have a lot of followers/are a BNF/are the lead content creator for a rival ship to the main one (bc lets be real all this is one giant ship war at the end of the day)
callouts or "block" lists are usually mass things in my xp. like you get put among 20 other usernames and then you bond w the others over the experience and are happy that you found new likeminded mutuals. the amount of times ive followed an entire list of ~problematics ive been featured in lol. its ironically a bonding experience and with a few blocks out of the way its kinda.. positive in the best case?
and really. really. i might be like. a bit too callous but at this point. even if there is a harassment campaign. even if you get a huge callout. even if half tumblr blocks you. so what? block out the haters, lie in with the mutuals, vent to some side friends. and just. keep going. so what if a bunch of rabid antis are raging out of their skin because youre having fun and trying to tell the other antis that youre having fun. yes you are. so what. what are they gonna do, make fifty accounts? send more anons? catch even more blocks? (reminder that if you block someone on anon it catches their entire ip so they cant make more accs to harass you). like yes, take precaution not to get doxxed (no sharing of identifying info, including where you live) but thats common safety anyway, and most antis arent tech savvy enough to dox anyway. you'll be fine. even if an account gets mass reported you can always write down mutuals' urls and start over (my own mutuals have a lot of experience, the propara community is fun lol) you can still share content, have fun, be yourself. its not a deadly situation. not to be 'the internet isnt real life it doesnt matter' bc yeah it can very much be anxiety inducing and horrible, but at the same time taking a step back yourself and evaluating the situation can help a lot with emotional regulation (just like in real life! some relationships are worth stepping away from, or getting less invested into if they become toxic)
so yeah thats my general view of the problem, again brains are weird and no two work the same, but these things help me and make me feel better, so hopefully if not you personally they might soothe someone in general ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
really hoping you find your community and comfort anon. fandom is a great place with it and a barren wasteland without, but imo its worth sharing even if for that one thrill /you/ get when someone likes it or when you find some gem

hi! just joined this account and i wanted to ask - how would i go about promoting my fics here? sorry if this is a stupid question 😭 i’d just like to get a wider audience for my fics bc i love writing them but i never really get that much interaction
Not stupid! I can't promise you'll get a ton more traffic from this blog because we are quieter than we used to be even 5 years ago buuuuut your fics being submitted here means they stay in our tags forever and people do regularly utilise it.
I'm gonna link this ask that explains how to submit! Seriously though, any questions, send us another ask. You can submit us all your old fics. Don't worry about spamming the blog lol.

idk which of my transplant followers needs to hear this, but
reblogs are for posts you like, likes are for bookmarking
because i guarantee you Nobody is going to your blog every day and scrolling through your likes tab to see what, or if you’ve even liked anything
the only time i’ve looked at someone’s like tab is when i first go to their blog. if i see you don’t reblog anything but have a bunch of likes, i most likely will not follow, because following you does nothing.
you have to have the “in your orbit” setting on to see posts that people have liked, and even so, likes do not show everything, and there is no way to pick and choose which post shows up on a followers dashboard. i do not have the “in your orbit” setting on- your likes will never show up on my dashboard and like i said…unless we’re besties i am not going to your blog every day to look thru your likes page.
your blog is a collection of you- the things you like, and the things you want to show. post your works, but reblog others too! if you liked something, reblogging it spreads it to a wider audience (your followers) and supports the original poster. think about how you feel when somebody reblogs your posts! i bet you like it a lot more than when they just Like it.
“My blog is for my posts and my likes are for other posts. I like it like that.”
if you’re gonna be here, take advantage of tumblr’s tagging system. you can tag stuff like #my art #my posts and people will be able to go to your blog, no matter how many posts you have on there, and use the tag to look at your stuff only. tags can also be used for so many other things like #other’s posts #nsfw #personal posts and for your own classification purposes, like #character name or #tv series.
tags are also where you can talk to your followers! it’s a unique way to share your thoughts & feelings that isn’t intrusive on the main post. (replies only show up when you look through the post notes, it doesn’t show up on your followers dashboards.) i personally love going thru the notes and reading ppls tags, it really gives me an insight into their personality lol
tldr: please start reblogging you dumb turds

(long ask, sorry! i just. need to talk to Someone about dungeon meshi yeehaw. tbh im not on anon bc i just went thru your dm tag so uh. not subtle lol) heyyyy, i've seen you rb dungeon meshi stuff and due to Circumstances decided to start it finally and. omfg. omg. how do i recover from this. it's so good??? Anyways. i feel like you have some really interesting takes so i was wondering if i could ask you abt what you think of the series?? like. idk it's so good?? you start and it's fun but then it just keeps building and building and then poof you now have a wonderfully crafted story and it's seamless and amazing??? also the designs. i LOVE the designs. tade is so agdjwgdhw and falin and marcille and namari and- anyways women <3. but yeah all the designs are so good, and the characters.... at first i was like. ok. abt laius but now i love him and just. wow ryoko kui is so skilled. manga so good it makes me forget abt the horrors even if there are horrors in it too lmao. anyways, i'm really excited to see how this story is gonna end!!!! and then ill make time to reread it slower too..... but yeah, i'd be happy to hear abt your thoughts on the series!!!
dungeon meshi is very nice :) i think it's as basic as it can get in terms of plot/writing but it excels in other categories. it's just pleasant to read, pleasant to look at, misses the rough around the edges feel a lot of obscure manga have (not that it's obscure lol it got awards and stuff. but it's taken a while to get an anime project) but doesn't feel forced & fabricated either, it's a rather intricate work, like a beautifully crocheted shawl done in vibrant shades... it strikes a good balance between feel-good and eerie. what i personally like the most is how you can see that the author is a very artsy person through her additional sketches, it's someone passionate about her craft who has depth of perception but also knows how to appeal to a wider audience without losing authenticity. i like how her sketches are individualistic and at times unsettling, but the manga itself has a very neat, rounded up, tidy style. another thing i like about the manga is just how diverse the character designs are, not in a "races have distinct designs" way, but that there's a wide variety of physiques, body types, skin colors, and it just does not feel forced or tokenized at all. it's just nice to see something different for a change! and like, i'm a person who really dislikes the setting itself (dungeons & dragons lol. and i don't like anthro stuff and human/animal hybrids either) but it's still easy to enjoy it even for someone like me. and it's rather funny! it has an up-beat optimistic tone overall, light-hearted, the comedy is always timed and delivered well. it's like a more nerdy less plot-heavy fma, comparison to which is always a huge compliment in my book. and yes, the characters are very lovable. marcille is the poster girl for classic main female character, it feels like they even stopped making those lol. everyone is just so different from each other and all have unique personalities explained by their circumstances, even rather episodic characters, and with that you can feel the tremendous care that went into creating them. as i said i don't consider it anything worth writing home about in terms of plot/character writing (it DOES have a video game setting after all...) and frankly in the beginning it was a bit boring but with time it becomes really fluid. "pleasant" is the perfect word for it, it's a good manga

hey, so uhhh, remember how i said a week or so ago that i had a bigger announcement in the works? well............
anyone want some rebirth playlists? :D
yeah, that’s right, i’m doing, uh, i guess you can call it a soft comeback? but i had a resurgence of love for rebirth lately, and i went back and finished some of the playlists that have just been sitting on the backburner all these months. i wasn’t able to finish all of them (some characters are still absolutely killing me lmao), but depending on how this last one goes, i have five or six in the works that are gonna be released over the next few weeks!
i still have to put together the posts and the playlists themselves (they’ll be on both youtube and 8tracks this time since 8tracks seems mostly(?) operational again, but i know youtube is more accessible for most people) and i’ll have another post go up when i’m ready to start releasing them with some more detail on about the posting schedule, but, yeah. i’m excited, and i hope whatever’s left of this fandom is excited too! ^-^

What's it been like, self-publishing? Apparently I screwed myself over by registering the copyright on my novel drafts before showing them to people, and frankly I don't enjoy the scammishness of publishing from what I've seen happen to people I know. I want to self-publish, but I'm afraid that if I open up a Tumblr to show off chapters, I'll get people who find reasons to be mad about my work somehow. I know you don't have to do anything honestly wrong for that to happen. It's scary.
In the past week I've been tagged on numerous 2 star reviews, on many more 4 and 5 star reviews that say they're "shocked" the writing was so good like that's supposed to be a compliment and not the backhanded insult it is, been told I'm writing sickening bestiality, and that anyone who enjoys reading my work "needs therapy."
Bottom line - if people want to be jerks, they're gonna be jerks, whether they're doing it in tiktok videos, in tweets, in DMs, or here on Tumblr. You need to get real okay with that before publishing, because it's going to happen once you're read by a wider audience, without question. Tumblr users aren't any better or worse than people anywhere else on the internet. I've been the occasional recipient of shitty messages in my ask box here, and I know several of my peers seem to receive them with obnoxious regularity. It's just a part of the game.
Beyond that, there are pros and cons associated with publishing traditionally and with self-publishing. It's necessary to decide what's important to you before going in, and wise to explore your options.
Going trad: you're probably going to need an agent to be signed to the big 5 or any of their affiliated presses. Some of the imprints of imprints will accept unagented submissions, but it's a long shot. Small presses are much more willing (and primarily do) accept unagented submissions from unknown authors . . . but it's a mixed bag and ymmv. Small presses are small, and small means without a lot of funding to throw around. You might be responsible for 90% of your book's advertising, you might be 100% responsible for any sort of merch you might want to do, you might be signed to digital only, which means you won't ever get a physical copy. You're somewhat at the mercy of an editor. You're going to earn less for your work. BUT! If being "published" is what you want, this is the way to do it. Also worth noting that in today's market, agents really like to see that you've been picked up by a small press for this project or that project.
The cons of self-publishing: writing is the easy part. You're now also a digital artist, a designer, an advertising expert, a social media manager, a copyeditor and typesetter, etc etc etc. You front everything yourself. You DO everything yourself. Literally anyone can self-publish, but doing it well is not for the faint of heart. The pros: you make more and you don't need to share it with anyone. You've got a wider margin before you're in the black, because you've now paid a cover designer, an editor, merch, and anything else you farmed out along the way, but once you clear those expenses, you're in profit territory. But you actually need to sell enough to get to that point, which means being very comfortable with selling yourself. You need to have a plan and be flexible when it falls apart. You need to spend a LOT of time educating yourself on the tools and resources at your disposal. And ultimately, you are the only one who's going to sell your book.
I'm not ruling out publishing with a press in the future, for a side project I write specifically for that sort of publication. It wouldn't be anything from my CC series, because I've put too much work into building it to share the profits, and I'm confident enough in my prostitution abilities to make it sell, lol.
MGMF has so far peaked at #11 on the Kindle best seller list, so I'm very happy with it! Like I said, you need to decide what's important to you and educate yourself on the process and the tools - and my inbox is always open! There are new things I learn every day, so finding peers who are in the same boat with you is always a great resource!

Gonna give away my ball python. I don’t necessarily want to, but I’ve come to the decision that I’m just not in a place to care for him adequately right now. He’s an ~8 year old mojave morph, a little over 4 feet long. Eats frozen/thawed. Pet only, since I have no clue about his ancestry.
Enclosure (with radiant heat panel), thermostat, and hides included if you’re within like ~6 hours driving distance. He needs a new water bowl and thermometer/hygrometer, as well as enrichment/cover items (climbing branches, fake plants, that kind of thing). Will wait to ship in warmer weather otherwise.
I’ll make a better-constructed post later and tag it to reach a wider audience. But for now, I’m just putting that out there in case any followers are looking for a free snake lol.

“ i’m extremely okay with this. “ greens please if that’s fine with you!
im surprised that you only have 100 followers I honestly think that throughout the whole fandom for ppg on tumblr your work is what I’ve seen the most so far (and I’m not mad about it lol 😂)
Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this year!
srsly? that's so funny lol I usually get so embarrassed if I find myself in the main ppg tags that I try not to look so hard. Idk if that's imposter syndrome or not lol. I do know I have some pretty popular mutuals, though, so maybe that helps me out!! (thank you for not being mad about it; that's a relief! I don't want to be annoying 😂)
I think, for 2022, I'll try to find the courage to tag my stuff more thoroughly to reach a wider audience. My New Years resolution also includes writing a little something every day, so hopefully, I'll have plenty more for you all to read :)
Now, onto your prompt. All my initial ideas literally all made me blush, so I guess I had to write something a little spicier than usual. But not too spicy; I've got minors following me, lol.
Prompt game rules here; prompt list here

"You've got an awfully kissable mouth." ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby Girls
The road beneath the car was bumpy, which generally didn't bother Butch, but he had Buttercup jostling in his lap this time around.
He sucked in a quick breath as another bump pushed Buttercup's ass into his groin, who would, without fail, drag said ass in a wonderfully horrible clockwise rotation until she was comfortable again, oblivious to his torment.
"Hey Butch, Buttercup," Robin asked from the driver's seat, "rest stop coming up, gotta stretch out your legs or anything; you still okay with this?"
Buttercup looked over her shoulder at him, her hair partially obscuring her face as she gave her hips another undeniable and intentional—wait, intentional!?
"I-I'm extremely okay with this," Butch replied to Robin, voice thick in his throat as he traced the pout of Buttercup's lips with his eyes and brought a heavy hand up to rest on her upper thigh, happy his torture had no end in sight, "just keep going."
ahhh haha I'm embarrassed I wrote this. That's as hot as it's ever gonna get from me oof. Even if there were no minors following me, I don't think I could ever post smut. I'm a bit of a prude 🤣🤣🤣

Hey, anti terf, pro ‘tirf’ anon here. I didn’t mean don’t tag things as ‘rad fems interact’, I meant maybe also tag it with ‘terfs don’t’ or something along those lines. I’m aware that there are trans radical feminists, and those who are trans supportive. I’m not meaning it in a performative way, as one comment suggested, I just think that if you are trans inclusive you should maybe try make sure that those that are proudly transphobic don’t use your platform as a jumping off point
I mean I get where you're coming from but I don't agree with those dni tags because they're pointless. nobody is paying attention to those lol and if a transphobe wants to reblog my post they're gonna anyways regardless of me tagging dni lol. I am trans inclusive and I want my blog to be a place of open communication and discussion, where people feel comfortable to engage with me and others in good faith and hopefully learn something. Straight up saying don't even interact in the first place erases that and immediately causes tension. If anyone comments something bigoted on my post I'll either call them out on it or block them. Like I said I only use the do interact tags because they reach other radfems easily, and honestly using a dni tag doesn't make me reach a wider radfem audience, it just looks like virtue signalling in my opinion and yeah like @quickscribe said a bit performative. I do understand you're coming from a place of good intentions but I just think it's a bit pointless. Anyone who looks at my blog knows where I stand, it's quite clear.

Just saw a person post screenshots of a very valid take on rpf but saying that the persons take was very badTM. Am tempted now to write a longer post but idk if ill have energy for it today lol. Anyways, my main points are:
1. You will never have complete control over how people perceive you. "Fighting" for the "rights" of everyone being able to control others perception of them is not a good easy to live because in the end, you are the one that loses. That goes especially for celebrities. As soon as you put something out into the world for a wide(r) audience to see, you lose most of control over it. Why? Because people are creative. And neurodivergent. And when they see something that they vibe with, they take the idea and spin it, make their own interpretation of it. And you know whats the funny thing? Thats how culture works as well. Old folk songs, mythology, stories of famous people, heroes, people with inhumane powers, etc exist here because people latched onto those people, whether they saw the person or heard the stories, they put their own spins on it those ancient storytellers, and they made them their own. That includes real people, you know!
2. Person vs persona. What I find baffling, is that often people seem to think that what we see of a celebrity is their whole personality while in fact, it is a persona that is composrd of style, etc that they like, yes. But that isnt their entire personality. The only ones that can claim to know celebrities, are their close ones. So, no matter how much fanfic writers would try, they will never be able to write an accurate representation of the celeb. And most dont want to do thatA So, what is there left to write about? Their persona, or rather, a writers interpretation of it, of course. And you have to understand: persona is NOT the same as the celebrity. One is a living, breathing person (the celebrity when theyre with the people they care about, when theyre working, etc), and the other is a bit more compressed idea of a person (a facade the celebrity puts on when theyre working). Fanfic writers latch onto the persona more than not because they vibe with it.
3. Attitude. Most of the time ive been on tumblr, the ones that are making a fuss about rpf are people who are either young, dont understand point 2 or dont know how to block tags. But then there is also the 4th type, the people who search for those properly tagged rpf things, in order to go and harass the people making them. Why, is my question. Why are you doing this? In real life, that would equal to a lets say, going to a vegan restaurant that has vegan written in caps over it, demanding they serve you nonvegan food and then harassing the people there for not accomodating your tastes! Thats really messed up! Why are you searching those spaces out on your own, if its not the content you enjoy, huh? Does it really bother you that much that people who enjoy a celebritys persona differently than you are having a good time, huh?
Im gonna add this here as well:
I cant talk about rpf without delving into the bad sides as well I guess.
1. First of all, again, I do not care what the rpf fics entail if the story is tagged properly and the fans are not bothering the celebrity about.
2. Yes, some people dont have a sense of boundaries and may share the fic to the celebs without realizing it is a bad idea. Is the fic writer at fault then, even though they tagged the fic and put content warnings? Of course not, the one at fault is the fan, who saw a thing liked it, and went to share it (point 1 applies here as well. Fanfic writers also dont have control over whether their story becomes popular or not, who likes it, etc).
3. Aannd my head ran empty. Feel free to add onto this post I guess.
Also, last point that I want you to dwell on.
Think about historical films about known figures. Like the british dramas. Those are in essence, rpf as well. Why are those series acceptable? They are, afterall, exploting real peoples lives also, and making money off of it! Well, for one, they are tailored for a wider audience. Then again, are the lives and personalities of the characters depicted there the EXACT same? Yes? No? Come on, we all know the scriptwriters had to add a little spice to the historical facts and story. None of those series is an accurate retelling. But, if its not accurate, doesnt that make it an au?
