Reblogs: Let me know that you enjoy my work and want to see more, so don’t forget to like and reblog (and comment in the tags. I love seeing people’s rambles in the tags)!
This work’s concepts, plot and original characters are my own which means I do not allow any sort of creative theft nor do I allow my work to be entered into any sort of A.I. bots. Thank you for respecting my space and boundaries.

Aether & Lumine
Both Aether and Lumine have similar ways of comforting you, but they also have distinct differences.
Aether is a better listener and speaker. You feel more at ease after talking to him, and the advice that they give you is always spot on.
Lumine, on the other hand, is more of a do-er. If your problem can be handled physically, then that's what they'll suggest. If not, then she'll summon all of her "big sister energy", and try to work it out like her brother would...
Wanderer | Capella
Depending on what the issue is, he'll either cut you off and tell you what you need to do.
Or he'll sit, listen and stew with you (and then he'll handle it, don't ask any questions, he won't answer them).
Childe | Tartaglia | Ajax
Since you and Childe never stay in one place for too long, he has to get pretty creative to cheer you up.
Back home in Snezhnaya, he would help you exhaust your frustrations through sparring.
In Liyue, he would take you to the beaches by the harbor hand in hand.
In Inazuma, he’s taking you fishing! Even starting a friendly competition to force your focus somewhere else.
In Fontaine, he's...oh, well, he's a little compromised actually...

This post inspired me to write about why I love Daniil choosing the Termite Ending for its significance in Daniil’s arc and because I love him so very much and want to talk about him more
Though Daniil’s ending is the Save the Polyhedron one, I noticed that when discussing the Polyhedron prior to Daniil actually getting in there himself, the dialogue options are almost always A) I love the polyhedron so much my favorite building ever or B) it’s an affront to god and terrible. And this contrast  remains even after he visits the tower; on Day 11 the player can choose to support or oppose the Polyhedron. When talking to Andrey, Daniil can tell him that he's ruined the town, and that it “needs to be rooted away immediately! And I will do it” when Andrey asks that Daniil leave the tower intact. Likewise, when Victor asks Daniil to preserve the tower, Daniil can say “Impossible. I really regret to tell you this, but the Polyhedron is the true cause of the outbreak.” Neither Clara nor Artemy really have this option in their routes, where they can so strongly oppose their presumed ending, so the Termite Ending seems like it could be consistent with Daniil’s characterization. I say this because though you obviously *can* choose whoever’s end you want with enough shmowders and panacea, I feel it’s quite inconsistent for Artemy to choose the Bachelor ending/Clara to choose either of their endings, etc. Daniil is the only character who I feel has a path of logic (ha ha ha) towards another character’s ending, that being the Haruspex’.
Another thing I want to note is how Daniil regards the Polyhedron, because across routes the game tells us that Daniil doesn’t actually understand the it. This first came to my attention in Clara’s route, because Aglaya tells her that, and Peter says the same. At first I felt so badly for Daniil because he loves that godless gravityless tower so much, but when I went back to the Bachelor Route, Daniil full-on just tells people that they’re being ridiculous as late as Day 9 when they tell him about the Polyhedron’s function. On Day 8 when Capella tells him about it, Daniil straight up says “you’re laughing at me” twice in a row to her. When Victor describes the Polyhedron on Day 9, Daniil’s dialogue options are “That’s blasphemy” or “That sounds naïve to me. But clearly you don't literally mean what you're saying.” And when Victor continues the options are “I didn’t meant to offend you with my disbelief” or “Qui ignorabat, ingorabitur...” (Who was ignorant will be ignorant). This man Does Not Get It and he doesn’t even seem to want to get it because he’s so Rational. Even that “I didn’t mean to offend you” still feels like Daniil hasn’t changed his mind, he's just trying to apologize for inadvertent rudeness.
Granted, Daniil has a change of heart once he gets to actually visit the Polyhedron; he’s more willing to believe it since he’s seen it. But even then, he still writes that surely there’s a rational explanation for it all, even though people are telling him just. No. This thing is fucked up and weird and you have to accept that. And finally on Day 12 Clara says to Daniil, “You want to keep the Polyhedron out of respect for the kindred genius who has calculated the mechanics of a miracle trap—a contraption able to capture what should not be captured!” And to put it simply I think the existence of the miraculous is vital to Daniil, because it proves his impossible “defeat death” goal can be accomplished. So, one interpretation here is that Daniil wants to preserve the Polyhedron mostly as a testament to the abilities of human creation/mind over matter. I honestly think the Polyhedron is more symbolic to Daniil than anything else, I mean he even says “It is not a mere a building, but a symbol,” so I think the importance for Daniil is saving the Polyhedron is again proof of possibility despite preconceived notions about what is and isn’t possible.
AND HERE IS WHERE I SCREAM. The post I linked mentions this line from Clara’s secret ending: “A tempted destroyer. He could have accomplished a feat of moral heroism. The strongest, the most straightforward, he was too strongly tempted by vengeance and destruction for his not going through with it to be anything less than... miracle, or something close to one.”
And okay all right here’s the deal. I’m obsessed with that part about “too strongly tempted by vengeance” because I’m pretty sure that’s primarily referencing his anger towards Aglaya. That is, regardless of how you played Daniil previously, part of his reasoning to save the Polyhedron is because Aglaya wants to destroy it, and Daniil believes that Aglaya double-crossed and lied to him (which I imagine hurts him a lot given his adherence to the truth and consequent rather trusting nature). The line reminds me of this exchange:
Bachelor: It doesn’t matter—she has deceived and betrayed me. She treated me like a pawn, and I won't ever forgive her for that.
Haruspex: You brought this on yourself. Don't try to get even with Aglaya. If you want to destroy the town and save the Tower only to get to her—and push her towards her demise... that would be unbecoming of you, oynon. It is you who will turn into a spiteful puppeteer driven by his thirst for revenge...
And indeed this can get through to him (side note I find it a little funny that Artemy says it’s ‘unbecoming,’ like Daniil is being scolded ahgjkgkj). I.e. one factor in Daniil’s decision was that he was angry and wanted revenge/vengeance on Aglaya. He’s certainly susceptible to acting on anger; in Clara’s route especially he’s absolutely murderous with anger over Simon’s death (he calms down more quickly in Artemy’s, but Daniil is at his most helpful little house cat then). Thus I see Daniil’s decision as not just about what to do about the plague, but whether he can accomplish his “moral heroism” by resisting the impulse to lash out at Aglaya. And all this goes to these lines which are my most favorite in all the games and make me. Inconsolable:
Fine. Let the Town remain. Let the broken circles come whole, let the interrupted processes resume. The wisdom of life is superior to that of people, so life should be allowed to proceed in its due course.
The Utopia is doomed. Feeble men should not be tempted with miracles. There is no point to forcibly preserve something whose very idea is destroyed by any kind of coercion. The Tower, the reason and the outset of the calamity, will be demolished.
I. I will never do justice how this rots my brain utterly and completely but it’s. This moment where Daniil faces reality and has to accept that miracles are impossible, that his goal is impossible. I personally like Daniil having to come to terms with death, because I enjoy the downfall of characters who try so hard to fight against the confines of being human but are, in the end, forced to confront that that’s all they are. Plus, I notice the Town is sometimes described as Daniil’s grave; I mean just the “it’s not even a trap, it’s a grave” and lines like “That is why your Bachelor is here: to meet his death—” so the Termite ending feels like delicious closure to this, that in destroying the Polyhedron and so confronting the impossibility of his goals Daniil “dies.” And I think Daniil “dying” fits even more because Aglaya tells him that Thanatica has been destroyed, and presuming that she’s telling the truth (which I do), Daniil is forced to face a turning point in his life regardless of whether he saves the Town or Polyhedron. Everything has to change for him, so his destroying the Polyhedron feels like a hopeful first step towards him moving forward.

I love your headcanon that Silver still has his fluffy baby quills and hasn't really started puberty due to malnutrition when he first arrives. Do you ever think he feels self-conscious about that?
Thanks ^-^ The reason I thought of that headcanon is because Pete Capella's voice is noticeably higher-pitched than Quinton Flynn's, and though in-universe that means nothing, I liked the idea it is an indication of Silver's age increasing between games. That being said, I doubt that Silver really minds or pays attention to it: especially in '06 and the Rivals games, he's far too busy with his missions to protect the future to be bothered by such trivial things, I feel like. Nor does he seem to care much what other people think of him anyway: the only time I can recall him getting peeved about being jeered at is in Rivals 2 by Knuckles, where he'll initiate a battle because Knuckles called him crazy. But that aside, I don't think he cares about it, haha! When the others notice, I figure he'll just shrug off their concerns: this is what's normal for him, and thus in Silver's mind that equals to this being the objective truth of a situation. Though, once he gets enough food (I imagine Amy meets him and offers to help teach him how to cook, feeding him delicious and nutritious meals all throughout) and his body begins recovering again, I think he'll become incredibly handsome and sleek with his adult quills setting in! Though, I figure also that is no concern of his, as long as he can keep saving the world and helping people XD

Any Voiceplay fans?
So I’ve been hooked on watching Voiceplay reactions on YouTube for a while.  (If you’re not familiar with them, please take a moment to treat yourself to their covers of Oogie Boogie’s song, We Don’t Talk About Bruno, and Hoist the Colours in particular, but they have a lot of other great videos, too.  Their bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, has also done some stunning solo work.)
The reason I’m bringing it up here is because Voiceplay are known as the ‘Theater Kids’ of the a capella scene for their dramatic and entertaining costumed presentations, and I noticed some curious details about the Hoist the Colours video that I thought might spark some interest among fellow Good Omens fans (and possibly Tolkien fans as well:)
youtube
All else aside, this is a phenomenal piece of music that’s well worth your time to check out.
Two of Voiceplay’s members, Cesar and Eli, have similar vocal ranges.  But in this video they’re positioned, costumed and singing in what appears to be almost competing parts in the arrangement.
In the center we’ve got featured guest Jose Rosario Jr., dressed as a ship’s captain in a white shirt and black coat.
On his right is Cesar, dressed in pristine white (curious choice for a pirate), who maintains a somber expression throughout the performance and for much of it, sings in gentle, almost ethereal tones.  His scarred ‘blind’ eye makeup only adds to the overall haunting impression.
On Jose’s left stands Eli, clad similarly but in black, singing loudly and powerfully, with a sinister grin on his face and greedy, grasping gestures.
The music swings back and forth between them, and one almost has the impression the devil on Jose’s left shoulder is trying to overwhelm or drown out the angel on his right--but Cesar doesn’t let Eli get away with it!  At one point (around 2:20) he actually cuts Eli off, not loudly himself but with a soft, intricate run that abruptly takes the wind right out of Eli’s sails.
A bit later in the piece, Cesar shows us that he can sing powerfully, too.  Nearing the end, it looks as though Eli may triumph after all--but ultimately it’s neither the angel nor the devil who wins the day.  They fall back into balance with Jose, as Geoff (who has piped up now and then to remind us he’s there, right next to their perpetually overlooked and underrated genius beatboxer Layne, but hasn’t really joined in the competition) carries us through to the end.
Apart from the angelic/demonic symbolism, which I have to believe was very much intentional, I think I caught an echo of the Singing of the Ainur: a loud, proud, greedy theme trying and failing to overwhelm a sweet, solemn melody that refuses to be silenced.  Unlike the discordant braying of the followers of Melkor, though, there’s nothing ugly or unpleasant about any part of this song.
ETA: Forgot the mention the lighting, which is a soft blue overall; but with a glare of red that falls for a moment over the entire group early on; later it reappears over on the left, where it illuminates Eli more than any of the others, and at one point he (and only he) is sillouetted clearly against it.

Variety and The Hollywood Reporter pointing out the obvious flaws in Bumper in Berlin and asking the question we’ve all been asking since it was announced…. Why?
But of course Adam Devine handpicks the only review I’ve seen that had anything positive to say. Nice try Adam. Stick to the Jack Black impressions.
oh no we can't have that! let's memorialize some great reviews (thank you @wzzah)
variety: "If anyone came away from “Pitch Perfect” with a burning desire to know what happens to male a cappella diva Bumper Allen (Adam Devine), I’d like to meet and study them for science."
the hollywood reporter: "With a central character who’s more exhausting than endearing, a shrug of a plot and jokes that miss as often as they hit, Bumper in Berlin starts to look an awful lot like a sequel that exists not because its makers had some brilliant story they needed to share with the world, nor because fans were clamoring for the further adventures of this supporting character, but because Universal couldn’t bear to let a once-successful franchise lie fallow."
the daily beast: "Even when the movie’s story wasn’t great (cough, Pitch Perfect 3, cough) then at least there were inspired a capella moments. Sadly, with Bumper in Berlin, the song choices are as uninspired as the story." (i liked this quote because it also dragged PP3)

Okay probably no one cares but I’ve got takes so here they are:
The Town-On-Gorkhon but make it DND!
Artemy Burakh is a tiefling, with skin the colour of freshly spilled blood. His horns are large, bull-like, but there is a sliver of light that connects them, like a halo. He has cloven hooves like a cow and a long tufted tail. All of the other Burakhs were aasimars. He's a cleric of Mother Boddho like his father wanted, but he's a War Domain cleric. Artemy is everything the Burakhs wanted, and yet none of it. He was often called half cursed, half blessed for his appearance.
Daniil Dankovsky is a half Drow, with gently pointed ears and skin with a deep purple tint. His father was a Drow, his mother a human. Part of the reason he wanted to conquer death is he won't get his father's near immortality. His father was insistent on him following the family path of monkhood and battlefield work, but Daniil refused, falling out badly with his father after his mother died. He decided to study necromancy to try to understand death better. He feels like neither part of the human world nor the elven one.
Clara is not, in fact, a changeling. She's a kalashtar with a very stubborn and unruly second soul. She appears human, aside from her hair which is pure, brilliant white. She has no memory before finding herself in the Town-On-Gorkhon, assuming her second soul was controlling her then. She is a celestial patron warlock, tied to the concepts of miracles. She is a pact of the Tome warlock, well studied.
The Saburovs and the Olgimskys are human families, though Victoria the White Mistress was an elf. Both Capella and Vlad the younger are half elven. Capella takes after her mother, a prophecy cleric worshipping the idea of Fate itself.
The Kains are a high elven family, but even then, Simon Kain had made it nearly 100 years past a century. Khan feels awkward about his elven nature but he's nearly a hundred now and very wise for it.
The Town-On-Gorkhon is mainly human, half elven and elven, with a general sprinkling of other races.
Taya Tycheek is a minotaur, born to human parents and thus is a miracle to the Kin. It has happened a few times and always has been viewed as an omen of great change that they shall need a strong leader to survive through. She will be a druid given a little more time.
Grace is a kalashtar grave cleric, focused on putting the dead to rest correctly. She holds more power than she thinks.
Notkin is a tabaxi rogue. Tabaxi are rare and he compensated for that with the gang, surrounding himself with kids who trust him.
Sticky is a dragonborn alchemist, one of very few dragonborn in the town. He's a black dragonborn which helps him remain unseen commonly.
Murky is a tiefling druid, with yellowy skin, the colour of swevery petals. Her parents were human. She is second only to Taya in being able to understand Mother Boddho and has similar bull-like horns to Artemy.
Lara Ravel is half elven, from a family of half elves. Her father taught her how to fight early on and she keeps her knowledge and her weapons sharp. She’s a battle master fighter.
Stakh Rubin is human. He wanted to be a cleric, like Isidor, but he could not understand Isidor's faith in Mother Boddho and so could never be the healer he wanted to be.
Bad Grief is a gnomish rogue. His tiny fingers are light and playful, never straying completely from the law, even in his underground tradings and gangs.
Yulia is a wood elf, fitting in easily with the high minded elites of the Kains. She is of middling age, giving her a very unique concept of Fate and time.
Anna Angel is a human, though she is desperate to act as though she is fey in some way. The woman she stole her face and voice from was a Changeling woman.
Foreman Oyun is also human, though he constantly wears a bull mask and pretends as though he is a minotaur to keep his place in the Kin. Artemy finds this out towards the end. He is a zealot barbarian.
Peter and Andrey Stamatin are metallic dragonborns, both of them are artificers, with a level in sorcerer. Peter is a silver dragonborn and Andrey is a bronze dragonborn. They and Sticky are the only dragonborns in the town.
Eva Yan is also human, though much happier than Anna Angel. She has a single level in cleric, dedicated to the Cathedral as a space of faith.
Aspity is a changeling druid, connected again to Mother Boddho, but she is not blessed in the way that Murky and Artemy are.
Aglaya Lilich is half elven, which she often used to manipulate Daniil whilst she was in the Town-On-Gorkhon.
Alexander Block is also human, which he has used to throw weight around over the less human healers, especially Artemy.
The Fellow Traveller is a dwarf, the only one in the one within the Town-On-Gorkhon. He is playful and smirking and knows way too much. He's a rogue, with a very good knowledge of the fourth wall.
Mark Immortell is a red Lizardfolk, who is always knows far too much. He's a college of eloquence bard with several levels in divination wizard.
The Kin are separate races, with the Herb Brides being Saytrs, known for their dancing.  The Worms are Earth Genasi, carved from Mother Boddho herself. The Butchers are Goliaths, taught in druidic ways to know the lines. They're more druidic than clerical in their worship.

Bachelor: Do you by any chance know where the dead are brought these days?
Capella: Are you going to work with the dead yourself? Are you serious? Or am I mistaken?
Bachelor: I don't really have a choice.
Capella: There are some butchers on the loose. It was not so long ago that I could have commanded them in my father's name, and they would have brought you anything. They have the power and the right to break the udurgh's bonds. But now, after the riot, our name doesn't really carry the same punch.
I think there are two times in the Bachelor route where a weird girl mentions the "udurgh." If you only played the Bachelor route, you'd assume this was meaningless flavor text. Here's the other:
Player: Tell me about the Abattoir.
Girl: Ooooh. It's creepy! Not only are you not supposed to go there, you shouldn't even mention it without need.
Player: Why such extensive precautions?
Girl: Brother says it's inhabited by gods so old that beasts used to believe in them before humans even came to exist.
Player: What? Bollocks.
Girl: No bollocks. It's all for real. When you come close to them, you do feel that someone impossibly, inconceivably large lives inside. People say the Abattoir so big because it covers the cavities of the unburied udurgh.
Player: What udurgh?
Girl: An udurgh is, like, a really really huge living creature. Like an animal god, but made from soil. He produces sticky yellow tar instead of saliva, and it's with this tar that the sky is attached to the ground.
Player: Unburied?
Girl: Yeah, he was only buried partially-the bottom's still above the ground. Some people say that the mouth is also sticking out, but others maintain it's his huge belly. And he breathes sometimes, so he hasn't kicked the bucket yet.
Yeah, animals used to worship their own animal gods here before humans arrived. Did this actually happen? No idea. But Artemy says ritual stones were here before the first cattle-breeders. The "hills" they stand on top of are actually barrows of cattle bones. From Day 10:
Murky is worried; she wants to get outside. What could have possibly made her this agitated?
The doll is fed by one of the "bull barrows". Father said that these stones were here long before the first cattle-breeders arrived. The stones were used for some ritual needs and the bones that lay beneath make them easy to see.
It seems that this horrible freak of nature is none other than Murky's precious dolly. She looks well-fed. I may return.
Blood is emerging from beneath the Children's Tower? But where did it come from? Was this blood spilled within the Tower? It makes me wonder who resides there...
Murky was telling the truth. This is amazing; the blood doesn't appear to be human... Nor does it seem to be leaking from inside the Tower... I should ask Murky if she knows anything else about this.
*** The story suggests a number of different conclusions... But something tells me this is not the time to jump to any of them. As the good old Bachelor would say: "Let us just make note of the facts."

POV: Vladislav Olgimsky Jr. Day: 9 Time: Midday Status: @tincture-enjoyer
The morning had been an atrocious mess. The entire town was going insane and for the first time in his life, it looked like his father couldn’t handle what was going on either. Just a few hours ago he had received a messenger that held a letter inked by the man himself. The head of the bull enterprise wanted him back in the Lump, to stay in there until further noticed, which could only mean until the rabble would come for their throats.
No. He wouldn’t do that, nor would he yield so easily.
He might not be as respected as his old man, but he could prove to be just as powerful and wise if needed. And so he made his way out of his hideout and towards the opposite side of town instead.
It was hard enough to walk through the different districts. The people were crazed and the guards seemed even moreso. Saburov needed to tighten his reins as well if they were to survive this, though who knew how much longer that man would last as well.
No. They needed to get away.
He’d bring Capella along if only he knew where she was, but for now he only had one goal in mind, and that was to reach the Crucible in one piece. The town was at least a sliver of what it used to be there. Even the walls didn’t seem to be as gripped by the strange blisters that the other buildings seemed to now carry. But surely even those wouldn’t dare touch these buildings. They could not. A mistresses’ daughter lived in one of them after all. She could protect them.
The youngest Vlad straightened his coat and shifted the leather of his gloves against the palm of his hands to feel more at ease with his schemes. He had to make this work.
He took a deep breath at last, gathering his wits as best he could and finally knocked on Maria’s door.

Vlad Jr: I feel smothered in here… I need air…
Vlad Sr: I can’t breath… Not enough air…
Yulia: I ought to let some fresh air in, but… I’d prefer not to
Vlad Sr: Many a mickle… makes a muckle. There’s no hurry
Vlad Jr: Every little makes a mickle
Rubin/Vlad Jr: How heavy is a head?
Aglaya: I can’t stitch it together… but I can cut the knot
Aglaya: Only a fool would cut the Gordian knot. It ought to be… vivisected
Plague: You clive I tie
Artemy: That which is torn must be tied, and that conjoined- split apart
Rubin: The seam must not split
Aspity: Make connections. Mend everything your father has torn. Even if he was right to tear it
Plague: You’re al yourselves I can bind you. Let you come within one another’s souls. One-from-many
Grace: We’re fixed in place. You’re the tie that binds us
Capella: I think you’ve bound us
Rubin: I can’t move. I’m bound by… family ties
Aglaya/Taya: Needles and pins, buttons and tins, knives and shins
Aglaya: Have you met a courier on the way here?
Maria: Did you see anything on your way here
Peter: Stupid! Stupid! Oh… what an idiot I was…
Rubin/Vlad Sr: Stupid! Stupid… oh, how stupid I was
Daniil: God… what an idiot I was
Alexander S: Stupid! I was so stupid
Alexander B: Foolish, foolish. How foolish I was…
Maria: The rain, this goddamn rain… will it ever end? Pouring and pouring and pouring and pouring
Alexander B/Vlad Jr/Rubin: And the rain! The goddamn rain, does it ever end? Pouring and pouring and pouring and pouring
Daniil: This damn rain… will it ever end? The climate here is a chaos
Andrey: A guest is best when you see him less
Capella: Guests are always welcome here
Grace: A good host is grateful to their guests- not the other way around
Aglaya: The Commander and I haven’t held council, in defiance of protocol. I’m counting on you doctors
Alexander B: The Inquisitor and I haven’t held council, against protocol, I place my trust in the doctors
Aglaya: I haven’t slept for three days straight. I don’t think I have another one in me
Victor: I’ll sleep when I’m dead
Eva: I need sleep
Rubin: I’ll rest when I’m buried
Daniil: My head is pounding! I need some restless
Eva/Katerina: No lover’s as sweet as the silence of sleep
Grace: Sleep is an indulgence. I can go without
Bad Grief: Time enough to rest after death
Bad Grief: Many who sleep well speak ill
Aglaya: There’s little time left. And so much to do…
Aglaya: We weren’t given too much time, were we? The army arrives tomorrow
Daniil: Time is slipping through our fingers. We must act now
Alexander B: We have two more days. Day after tomorrow a choice must be made. So say the Powers that be
Bad Grief: Lose an hour, and you won’t catch up in a year
Rubin: Time is of essence
Murky/Taya: Buds bear flowers, clocks bear hours, bones bear nothing. They’re just bones
Rubin/Victor: Chain a rock to your ankle if you wish to see the bottom
Sticky: Hober-de-hoy half man and half a boy
Notkin: Half-man, half-boys no more knives no more toys
Andrey: What are you worried about? That they’ll chide you?
Sticky: What are you afraid of? That they’ll get mad? Huh?
Clara: There’s a lot of me… not so much of yourself
Clara: I pity you human, you’re so good, but there’s so little left of you
Maria: There’s still life in me, more life than can be lived
Eva: I’m overflowing with soul! I have enough to share
Katerina: Most life has already been lived. What a tiny sliver remains for us
Lara: Who will take responsibility for us now
Yulia: Whose problem have we become
Aspity: Roots and blood. That is what fills our veins. Roots and blood
Vlad Jr: Roots and blood. That’s the foundation beneath our feet.
Katerina: The worst is still to come
Khan: The worst is yet to come
Khan: All in all girls know better than boys. We’ll leave the boys outsmart
Bad Grief: For what the devil can’t do send a woman
Grace: It’s cold. Grave cold
Rubin: My fingers won’t bend… It’s the cold, that’s all… it’s just cold
Grace: Damp. I’m drenched through to the bone
Murky: Aw I’m all damp and washed out. They’ll have to stitch my belly back together
Katerina: It’s growing cold
Clara:Ugh, it’s so cold, isn’t it? Like cold-cold
Alexander B: I’ve had enough I’m going to break soon
Alexander S: No… I can’t stand it much longer
Daniil: I’m exhausted. On my last legs…
Georgiy: I’m so, so tired
Rubin: I’m at my rope’s end… I can’t take it anymore
Peter: That’s it I can’t take it anymore
Maria/Capella: And so, Katerina has an heiress no more
Georgiy: Katerina shouldn’t have cast Changeling out. Clara’s her true successor, her own daughter couldn’t be closer
Clara: My patrons have spurned me. Turned me out of their house. But they’ll pay for it
Alexander B: I feel feverish
Anna: I’m flushed, my cheeks are burning, aren’t they?
Maria: I’m feeling warm… oh it might be a fever
Maria: I feel feverish… do you think I’m getting sick?
Aglaya/Victor/Lara/Oyun/Mark/Maria/Rubin/Katerina/Yulia/Alexander B/Alexander S/Vlad Sr/Capella/Eva/Grace: Yes
Anna/Bad Grief: Yeah
Sticky: Yup
Aglaya/Victor/Lara/Andrey/Alexander B/Alexander S/Anna/Daniil/Bad Grief/Vlad Sr/Capella/ Eva/ Grace/Artemy/Katerina/Khan/Yulia/Vlad Jr/Sticky/Peter/Rubin/Oyun/Notkin/Mark/Maria: What?
Taya: So what?
Notkin: I’ve been saying it all along it seeped out of the Abattoir
Maria: It came from underground. For many years we buried our bones wrong
Lara: The source, the source… where is it? Can someone uncover it?
Bad Grief: The doctor’s quick on the draw. Already shot someone. So much for his oath
Vlad Jr: Our big city guest is a little too fast on the draw, isn’t he?
Notkin: The doctor from the Capital is more mangoose than weasel
Bad Grief: The city boy’s a bit off more than he can chew, won’t end well
Notkin: The man with the leather bag tested his new drug on people. Five dead! Big city quack…
Yulia: Dankovsky’s fallen in love with the children’s Tower
Artemy: This outsider… he’ll make a mess of things
Grace: He won’t be able to unfold this. He hails from a different life
Murky: Bachelor has found some strange clay
Aspity: No. The Kin will tell him nothing. We are worry of outsiders
Clara: You think you’re cool headed, but you’re just cooling
Clara: Warm hands, cold heart? The saying goes the other way
Aspity: Is it really deadly? Yes it is
Peter: Is it lethal?
Alexander S: Is there really no cure for this disease?
Katerina: What is this disease?
Yulia: Does anyone know which pills work?
Yulia/Eva: They say it’s neither cholera nor pox. So it can’t be that bad, can it?
Sticky: How can people protect themselves from the infection. You’re a doctor, you should know!
Victor: Is this disease indeed as deadly as they say?
Peter: Hey, what concoction can I drink to keep from catching it?
Daniil: What kind of disease id this? What kind of disease is this?
Alexander S: She’ll start the purge from the top of the ladder. I’ll be the first to swing
Artemy: She has her eye on the warrens… no good will come of it
Oyun: She is a herald of the law. Now we come to the time when deities begin to die…
Aspity: The Inquisitor proceeds with her terrible harvest… is she a pretty one, at least? A doll of bone china and rose gold
Bad Grief: The wench has us all over a barrel. Nothing to be done about it
Artemy: And yet she has a good heart. A kind heart
Yulia: She’s clearly a professional. A specialist in her trade
Mark: She made an example of murderers and mad men. That was merely prologue… the game itself is yet to start
Katerina: I’m afraid I’m of little use now
Yulia: I’m afraid I’m not much use now
Khan: This is it. No more games, No one needs us

My favorite thing about the Kain sib pair that is just not present with the Olgimskys is that they both not only want to ascend to their respective same gender parent's power role (whereas Capella wants to be like her mom but Vlad Jr never ever wants to be his dad not ever) but they ALSO want to or are effectively made to parent each other which neither Capella nor Vlad ever do for one another.... the Kains view the other as too out of control/try to discipline the other in a very parentally toned way to make the other suit the norm of their own ending or punish them for stepping out of line and behaving selfishly/spitefully... The mental geometry here

As the blazing sun set on the bustling city of wisdom, the frigid moon made way to center-stage. Disregarding those who locked themselves away to hide under a warm embrace of cloth as they waited for the morn to bless the horizon.
For she only sang to those of the night, only they are worthy of her ballad.
Tonight, you were one of the worthy. Perched high above on one of the many large branches that supported the city below. Watching the stars shine their lights on, she in the center, listening attentively to her song. Then a thought popped into your head, so you spoke it.
“You said it was because she couldn’t bring herself to intervene in your fate.” You turned to look at the being beside you, his jaw set tightly against his knuckles. “So…are you upset with me—for intervening, I mean.”
“Hmph.”
“Oh?” You raised a brow. “You don’t know?”
“I didn’t say that.”
You shrugged. “You didn’t say that you were or weren’t, so that would leave you with nothing. Unknown. You don’t know.”
“Then why Capella?” He spit.
“Why I named you Capella?”
He nodded. “I’ve never heard of anything like it, so it has to be a made up name. No meaning behind it, so that’s my answer to your question.”
“But it’s not made up, and there actually is meaning behind your oh-so carefully chosen name.” You tilted your head, watching as his eyes widened by a fraction before falling back into that annoyed-neutral state.
“Capella is the name of a star.” You began,
“No, it's not.”
“A star outside of the skies of Teyvat. The third brightest, I believe…”
You continued, “Also—do you remember Musk Reek—you were mumbling about the sky being fake?”
He nodded, face cracking at his budding curiosity.
“Yeah, so I’ve been thinking—everything can’t just be written in the stars, right?”
“Get on with it.”
You smiled,
“Teyvat’s sky may be fake, but that’s why you must ascend beyond— to the real sky.”
And spoke your truth.
You had descended beyond from the true sky, so why couldn’t he do the reverse?
If this world truly wasn’t meant for him, then why should he be shackled to it? Why not find a world that would accept him for him.
“You want me to be a Descender? Like you? Pretty sure that’s not how that works.” He shook his head.
“Then be an Ascender or something—I don’t know.” You stood with a stretch.
He gave you a look, one of those looks that you really couldn’t decipher (maybe one day you'd be able to) then turned away.
Your own gaze returned to the pale face of the moon.
Ah, if only you could reach out to touch it,
but it seemed to pull further and further from your reach.
No…
That wasn’t right.
The moon wasn’t exiting,
you were falling.
You skillfully deployed your Wind Glider, landing safely on the plush grass below.
“What’s wrong with you?!”
You jolted, attention flickering to Capella.
His stormy eyes gazed onto your own. Searching for something that wasn’t there.
“I…” You sighed, raising a hand around to touch between your shoulder blades.
“I really miss my wings.”

~two princes in a park~: part 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like I’ve got no other choice…
Arisa took a deep breath and cleared her throat. “Excuse me, Your Highnesses?”
“What is it?” Yujiro turned to look at her, an expression of clear exasperation stretched across his face. He paid no mind to the way Aizo had grasped his slimmer hands within his own, nor did he seem to care about the absolutely pathetic look on the blond’s face.
“Um… I was wondering if I could listen to one of your songs, maybe?” Arisa bounced a little in place. “You two need an audience if you want to become musicians, so…”
“But we didn’t bring our instruments today…” Aizo mumbled, still keeping Yujiro’s hands sandwiched between his own for some reason or other. “We were only meant to do our physical training today…”
“To escape the bandits, I take it?” Arisa raised an eyebrow, just as Yujiro muttered “More like you decided that we had to run laps all on your own…” with a pointed glare at Aizo, who practically wilted under the force of said glare.
Oh boy… Why are they like this…?
“In any case,” Arisa coughed lightly. “I’m fine with listening to an a capella version of your song too. Or maybe we could return to the castle and use the music room there? I’m not picky at all.”
“I don’t wanna return to the castle… Ken’s there…” Aizo sighed heavily. “He’d want to join in if he caught wind of this…”
…Can’t deny that. Ken is always looking for ways to slack off on his royal duties, after all.
“…C’mon, Aizo,” Yujiro finally pulled his hands free. “Let’s give her the performance she asked for. Maybe she’ll finally leave us alone then.”
I can hear you, you know?
“But Yujiro…”
“We’ve practised for this, haven’t we?” Yujiro shrugged and turned to Arisa. “So… Please listen to Romeo… Don’t question the name, Aizo was the one who came up with it.”
“H-hey!” Aizo straightened out his posture as well. “You’re the one who wanted to name it—“
Aizo’s complaints went mostly unvoiced, however, as he cut himself off when Yujiro commenced the song with the cue of a whispered “Romeo”.
Eh…?
Arisa’s eyes widened a little as the two princes before her began to sing in harmony.
Their voices… actually go pretty well together…? I can’t believe I underestimated them… I don’t know much about the performing arts, but… I can tell that the two of them are definitely suited for stardom.
Arisa blinked back into reality as the pair before her concluded their song with a cheery “Yeah!”.

I find it kinda sad how some of the fandom will characterize Silver as all "Whiney" and "annoying" because he was implied to cry once and she'd the slightest amount of tears in the comics (old comics) and it's just sad bc silver has so much more character then that. I think that's why I like your writing so much, because you give him more then just dorky kid and whiney child guy y'know? (Sorry if that got a bit rambling and stuff lol)
I figure that ties in into the massive mischaracterisation Silver suffers from basically all sides of his character, but where his 'babyfication' runs most rampant, in my personal opinion. Furthermore, for me him seemingly crying at the end of his storymode in '06 nicely ties into that overall plot point of the game, and makes for something meaningful and interesting to analyse. The whole idea is that the person containing Iblis may never cry, lest their tears call forth his flames. Silver never cries in the game no matter how frustrated he gets with his never-ending battle against Iblis or when he loses Amy as a friend or when Elise dies.... but then he loses Blaze, the one person he thought would always be with him and who he would never want to take on the burden he was going to inflict on himself, and that is what makes him cry. I cannot put exactly into words why I find it so meaningful, but I feel that they wouldn't have put in the sight of him wiping at his eyes for no reason considering how much crying played a central role in the game. And as for the The Silver Saga issue where he cries too, his friends were basically dying because at that moment he wasn't strong enough to defeat the Second Devourer. I can forgive him crying then, since he gets a second wind moments after.
So yeah, people seem to cherry-pick only certain moments that display Silver's personality, and then use that to determine that the whole of his character is like that. Silver is far more multifaceted than either an innocent naive uwu baby or a brooding murder machine; he's got touches of both, but that both is very important. Not one or the other, just... Silver, basically. Polite and friendly to the people close to him, a heart of gold, self-sacrificial, and with the best intentions for the world, but brusque and rude while on a mission, smug and overconfident, absolutely ruthless when he feels it is necessary even in situations where cooperation and just talking would get him to his goal much faster, displaying the occasional black-and-white thinking and tunnel vision, and not allowing himself much time for sad emotions. And yet in the Rivals games, he can absolutely be polite, tries to indicate to the other characters what might be going on, and multiple times calls to talk to "Eggman" first before getting roped into a fight anyway. So generally he's not baby who bursts into tears if you look at him funny and would never ever hurt a fly (seriously, I really wonder how the heck people get that perception of him?? The things I see sometimes are mind-blowing in how bafflingly ooc they are), nor is he excessively violent, unreasonable, and brooding (traits I would say are much more ascribable to a character like Shadow or Metal Sonic). What traits he displays most seem highly dependent on the state of the world and whether or not he is on a mission and has support from his friends.
Though, what I furthermore thinks also leads to people finding Silver more whiny is the fact that he got quite a young, inexperienced voice from Pete Capella. Quinton Flynn does it a bit better imo (he's my favourite Silver voice actor), but Bryce Papenbrook goes right back and makes him sound younger and a lot more cocky (to the point where in TSR I occasionally felt like I was listening to an even cockier Sonic than to Silver). But if you asked someone to listen to all three of those and then to Daisuke Ono, I think no-one will be able to tell the Japanese voice is for the same character, haha! In Japanese Silver's got very deep, serious voice whereas in English he sounded/sounds far more childish and rude, and that might also contribute to the perception of him being annoying and childish and ✨uwu cinnamon roll✨. So yeah, overall Silver suffers from massive ooc-ness and mischaracterisation, and it, well, sucks. It doesn't help that he was basically HATED during his first five years of existence until Generations salvaged his boss battle. I do not think it is a bad time to be a Silver fan, people seem to like him a lot more these days, but I do wish they'd take a less flanderised view of him sometimes, haha!

Invocation of Capella
Goat Mother, Mother Goat, Your child cries for you! I call you by these names and more: Almathea, Alhajoth, Alhatod, and Alhaiset. She of the Horns-Verdant, She of the Hooves-Galloping, Unyielding and untamed, Never to be restrained. O Capella, wild and kind, As you race upon your chariot, Spare us a glance from Your lofty place among the sky. With gentle gaze, grant us your blessings! Bless us with your Horn of Plenty, Protect us with your Thunder-Shield! By your grace, bestow us Honor, wealth, good health and renown. O healer and nurturer, O ever-loving exalter of kings, May nothing bind us or confine us. May no enemy hurt us, Nor may jealous eyes defile our glory.

I looked for the comet at 02:30 EST on 02/03/2023. Honestly unsure if I saw it - squatting on a hillside with a binoculars and stellarium-web.org in my lap, and I triangulated its position between Capella, Muscida (the head of Ursa Major), and Mirfak. According to the star map it’s right over 21 Camelopardalis right now from my location, so maybe they were indistinguishable from each other. And its neighbours seem to align with the quadrant of stars (clockwise: HD 38284, 17 Camelopardalis, 21 Camelopardalis, 31 Camelopardalis ?) forming a squat rhombus I kept landing on when I aimed the binoculars where I thought ZTF would be.
But now it is 03:30 and I’ve been reading about those stars and their apparent visual magnitudes. And I found out that 21 Camelopardalis’s apparent magnitude is 6.86, which is fairly dim and hard to see. I tried finding the magnitude of the green comet and one website recorded 4.4 for today, others were slightly higher so I’m not sure. But it should be brighter than 21 Cam until it runs away. So maybe what I saw was the comet. Or maybe I am full of shit and misread the map and misnavigated the sky. I will be in a darker location before it leaves us so I’ll keep looking.
Regardless!! I did not know any of these stars before tonight. Nor did I know how many more faint stars you can see with binoculars. Next time I am under a dark sky I’ll peek at the milky way through binocs and experience a strong emotion. The temporary resident of our sky has taught me things about the permanent ones, and that’s a worthy gain. n_n
now view on a dark theme for a comet socializing with stars:
