THE CURSE OF IMMORTALITY PART 1
P1/P2/P3
Revolutionize fic.
Warnings: alcohol consumption, self destructive behavior, religious trauma, suicide attempts
You have been warned
Being blessed by the gods was a nightmare. And everyone agreed. There was nobody in the world that seeked immortality that wasn't labeled as insane or delusional.
Of course it wasn't always this way, people used to dream of living forever as a legend. But ever since the presence of immortals had become normalized people realized how accursed their existence truly was.
August sat on a bar stool, heavy bags under her eyes as she downed an entire bottle of firebrew. The bartender looked at her, concerned and a bit disgusted. "Another bottle..." she slurred grumpily.
He raised his eyebrow at her, "You don't look too good. You sure you-" before he could even finish August grabbed his arm tight, a horrifying glare settling on her face.
"I don't recall asking what you thought." She seethed, her bright yellow eye glowing for a moment before she stopped, letting go of his arm. The man stumbled back against the counter, shocked.
She sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose, her glowing eye slowly dulling back to its normal flat yellow. "Just give me another bottle." She ordered, not bothering to be polite. He silently nodded, going to the back to get another bottle.
August Zhao, the most revered mercenary in the land. And a prime example of why immortality was a curse, not a blessing.
She grunted, a headache forming in her head. The bartender came back out with another bottle, the same fearful expression painting his face.
She snatched the firebrew from his hand and chugged it down like she hadn't drank for days.
The bottle was gone in a matter of seconds. She grit her teeth, she still wasn't drunk... not even tipsy.
She slammed her fist against the ba rcounter sparks od electricity flying off her hand. A scorch mark now indented into the counter.
She got up, throwing a couple gold coins at the bartender before leaving, slamming the door behind her.
She sat down on the bars porch, looking up at the now midnight sky, she had been in that bar for a solid three hours, she had to have gone through at least eight firebrew bottles. And yet she wasn't drunk.
Her body was developing an immunity to alcohol. Something she didn't even know could happen. Perstolis had the strongest alcohol there was, alot of the shit they made was outlawed in other regions, and yet it wasn't enough.
August curled her fists up, her hands digging into the wood as they slowly turned into claws. She breathed heavily, small tears starting to leak from her eyes.
Immortality was a curae, she would never forgive Lady Theodora for giving her immortality, she had cursed her.
She craved death, and she had tried to kill herself many times, each way more gruesome than the last. But it never worked. She wouldn't die, she couldn't die. Not as long as she was Thedoras disciple.
Everyone she loved was gone, but she was still there. Whether she deserved it or not. She was there.

so, nobody is, how's that whole "oberon" thing working out for you?
“It’s going pretty well I have to say. Even though joining this ‘Ask Blog’ involves us being separated and losing my disguise, she still sees me as her Oberon,”

there's a cherry blossom tree in DC that keeps blooming every year even though it shouldn't and the park service keeps thinking it's dead and then it keeps blooming! well they're removing a lot of trees to rehabilitate the area and they've said it's finally time for stumpy to go and they're going to mulch it and use the mulch to enrich all the other trees so it can help everything else keep going. and they're also going to plant spliced little pieces of it all over so that stumpy can live forever and this is genuinely sending me into a spiral
